HYL1 is a nuclear protein involved in the processing of miRNAs but its exact function remains unknown. Arabidopsis thaliana hyl1 mutants exhibit hypersensitivity to ABA. We decided to answer the question whether ABA affects the HYL1 protein localization within the cell and show that it does not. We also studied the expression of HYL1 in different tissues and organs. In this paper we show for the first time the expression profile of the HYL1 protein using anti-HYL1 antibodies. The protein is present in seedlings and mature plants in all organs studied, with the highest amount in inflorescences. A. thaliana HYL1 protein has several repetitions of a 28-amino-acid sequence at the C-terminus that confer protein instability. Our bioinformatic analysis of HYL1 homologs in different Brassica species shows that this repetition is typical only for Arabidopsis. This may suggest a relatively late evolutionary acquisition of the C-terminal domain.

Innovation, to promotion and implementation of which more and more importance is attached in the European Union, is a factor which strongly affects the development of companies, regions and whole economies and constitutes the source of their competitive advantage. It means the capa- bility to search and implement modern technologies and new products, but it may also concern new organizational solutions and marketing techniques. The level of regions’ innovation depends on its inhabitants and on the companies operating there. Region itself is a base that can create favourable conditions for the development of innovations. The aim of the paper is to analyse the spatial differentiation of innovation of Polish regions. The regions will be classified and grouped into homogenous subsets upon the level of their innovation. In the research taxonomic and multi- criteria analysis methods will be applied.

The aim of the paper is to discuss the relevance of media and information education in language learning at advanced levels. The present paper is based on the empirical data obtained during the action-research conducted with the Romance philology students attending the course of French as a foreign language. The main object of the research is to establish to what degree an oral argumentation task, preceded by the task of planning the discussion on Wiki is considered to be a learning situation by students themselves. The research focuses on a selected aspect of the learning process, namely, on the use of media resources while negotiating the discussion outline and specifically, while negotiating its topic, objectives and its cognitive value. The principal conclusions indicate 1) that the task scenario should be based on the critical and dialogical approach to media and 2) that this kind of instruction can reinforce the argumentative dimension of the discussion.

Partant d’une réflexion générale sur la signification de la mémoire au Moyen Âge, l’article propose une analyse approfondie des fonctions du souvenir dans le Roman de Tristan de Béroul et dans celui de Thomas d’Angleterre. Le rôle du souvenir, prédominant dans les deux œuvres, s’avère en fait fondamentalement différent dans les deux cas. Chez Béroul, les amants vivent sous l’emprise du philtre amoureux qui les cantonne dans le présent et ne leur permet de penser qu’à un futur immédiat ; ainsi, le souvenir sera traité par eux de manière instrumentale, dépourvue de toute valeur sentimentale : il est une arme dont ils se servent pour convaincre le roi de leur innocence, et pour inverser une situation a priori défavorable. Les héros du roman de Thomas d’Angleterre, par contre, vivent leur séparation en vacillant entre un présent fallacieux – celui des erreurs et des doutes – et un passé mythique, celui de leur amour idéalisé. Le souvenir acquiert une autonomie au point de renverser le cours de l’action, en s’imposant aux protagonistes pour ainsi dire malgré eux ; il est capable de transmuer la réalité désolante et decevante en un rêve consolant, vivant dans le passé transformé par la mémoire. C’est aussi, semble-t-il, la même consolation que Thomas propose (et d’autres auteurs avec lui, peut-être) à ses lecteurs / auditeurs : celle de l’activité artistique, capable de transformer la réalité en une œuvre d’art.

The research presented in the paper is a part of the project carried out at the Institute of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań. The research aims at determining the underdeveloped areas of advanced learners’ listening skills. The ultimate objective of our research is the development of discursive approach toward teaching and learning (Górecka, Wilczyńska, Wojciechowska in press). The study focuses on analyzing writing strategies used by students in the task of summarizing the chosen sequences of media debates in the radio program Le téléphone sonne. We claim that the way the students formulate their answers can reveal, to some extent, the diffi culties they encounter in analyzing and synthetizing oral discourse. The analysis of students’ writing strategies may contribute to the elaboration of pre-task instructions and evaluation techniques, which may result in a better approach to the development of listening skills.

W przedstawianym badaniu zakładamy, że odwołania do wyznaczników kompetencji medialnej sprzyjają modelowaniu rozwoju indywidualnej kompetencji komunikacyjnej zgodnemu z wymaganiami formalnymi proponowanymi dla poziomu zaawansowanego. Artykuł przedstawia wybrane wnioski z przeprowadzonego badania w działaniu, którego celem było wyodrębnienie i opisanie skutecznych działań doboru oraz interpretacji francuskojęzycznych zasobów medialnych. Umiejętności te, właściwe dla kompetencji medialnej i niezbędne dla rozwijania autonomii uczeniowej, rozwijane były w zadaniach dyskusja online, zorientowanych zarówno na doskonalenie sprawności komunikacyjnych, jak i na realizację złożonych celów poznawczych, powiązanych z konstruowaniem wiedzy.
The present paper rests on the assumption that elaborating the determinants of media competence facilitate the conceptualization of the individual communicative competence development in accordance with formal requirements for teaching/learning at advanced L2 levels. The paper presents the chosen conclusions of my action-research project, whose major aim was to elaborate the determinants of constructive learning actions involving the selection and proper interpretation of media resources in French. These skills, inherent to media competence and necessary for the learner autonomy development, were trained in discussion tasks aimed at improving communicative skills and accomplishing cognitive goals connected with knowledge construction.

Our paper deals with the problem of how student’s beliefs, expectations and attitudes influence the processes of learning in foreign language discussions. Referring to the socio-constructivist research on classroom communication (Pekarek-Doehler 1999, 2005; Ochs 1993; Klus-Stańska 2003; Hanna and de Nooy 2009), we assume that each speaker construes in a communicative task his or her identity of a learner performing a task and an argumentative interaction participant. This social identity reflects the person’s skills and beliefs, it is co-construed by other speakers and depends on a genre or communicative situation. Our research focuses on argumentative interactions carried out on the web forum in French as a foreign language. This kind of academic task creates a new challenge for FL learners. The asynchronic form of the discussion has a potential for developing individual communicative competence (Weasenforth et al 2002; Walkiers and de Praetere 2004). A crucial condition of developing communicative competence though is that learners intentionally undertake communicative actions make intellectual effort and focus on common learning aims. The aim of the analysis is to show the relation between those actions and the efficiency of learning in argumentative discourse.

Celem rozważań jest określenie miejsca i znaczenia wywiadu biznesowego wśród narzędzi pozyskiwania, przetwarzania i analizy informacji rynkowych, a także ocena znaczenia wywiadu biznesowego dla zarządzania przedsiębiorstwem. Przedmiotem analizy są źródła i rodzaje pozyskiwanych przez przedsiębiorstwo informacji oraz współpraca przedsiębiorstw z dostawcami usług wywiadowczych. Podstawą realizacji celu były dostępne materiały ze źródeł wtórnych oraz wyniki badań jakościowych i sondażu ilościowego na temat wywiadu biznesowego, które zrealizowano w II i III kwartale 2014 roku. Uczestnikami badania jakościowego w postaci dwóch focus group byli przedsiębiorcy reprezentujący firmy różnej wielkości (mikro, małe, średnie i duże) i działalności (produkcja, usługi). W sondażu ilościowym zebrano opinie z 74 przedsiębiorstw różnej wielkości, reprezentujących różne sektory gospodarki. W artykule mającym charakter badawczy, przedstawiono istotę wywiadu biznesowego, jego miejsce wśród źródeł i narzędzi pozyskiwania informacji biznesowych a także opinie respondentów na temat wywiadu biznesowego i jego przydatności w zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem.
An aim of considerations is to determine the place and importance of the business intelligence among the tools for acquiring, processing and analysing market information as well as to assess the importance of business intelligence for enterprise management. The subject matter of analysis is sources and kinds of information acquired by the enterprise and cooperation of enterprises with intelligence services providers. The grounds for the aim achievement were available materials from secondary sources as well as findings of qualitative research and quantitative survey on the business intelligence carried out in the second and third quarters of 2014. Participants of the qualitative research in the form of two focus groups were entrepreneurs representing firms of various sizes (micro, small, medium, and large) and activities (production and services). In the quantitative survey, there were collected opinions from 74 enterprises of various sizes representing various sectors of the economy. In their article of the research nature, the authors presented the essence of business intelligence, its place among the sources and tools of business information acquisition as well as respondents’ opinions on the issue of business intelligence and its usefulness in enterprise management.
Цель рассуждений – определить место и значение Business Intelligence среди инструментов заполучения, обработки и анализа рыночной информации, а также оценить значение Business Intelligence для управления предприятием. Предмет анализа – источники и виды полученной предприятием инфор- мации, а также сотрудничество предприятий с поставщиками услуг Business Intelligence. Основу осуществления цели представляли доступные материалы из вторичных источников, а также результаты качественных исследований и количественного зондажного исследования в отношении Business Intelligence, которые проводились во втором и третьем кварталах 2014 года. Участниками качественного исследования в виде двух фокус-групп были предприниматели, представляющие фирмы разной величины (микро, малые, средние и крупные) и деятельности (производство, услуги). В количественном зондажном исследовании были собраны мнения из 74 предприятий разной величины, пред- ставляющих разные секторы экономики. В статье, которая имеет исследовательский характер, представили суть Business Intelligence, его место среди источников и инструментов заполучения бизнес-информации, а также мнения респондентов о Business Intelligence и его прогодности в управлении предприятием.

Tekst koncentruje się na problematyce nieobecności dialogu we współczesnej szkole w obszarach: • organizacji przestrzennej (ławka, „ukrzesłowienie”, hermetyczność pokoju nauczycielskiego, bariery przestrzenne), • organizacji pracy (podręcznik jako ograniczenie dialogu, jednotorowość schematu nauczania), • organizacji instytucjonalnej (kontakt między wszystkimi członkami społeczności szkolnej, wykluczenie rodziców, pionowy schemat zarządzania). Wskazanie kilku znaczących zmiennych, które determinują niesprawną i nieefektywną komunikację w obrębie instytucji szkoły, jak i klasy, to główny cel referatu. Warto jednak w tym miejscu podkreślić, że autorki pragną, by rozmowa na temat owych „przeszkód” stała się inspiracją i przyczynkiem do zmiany paradygmatu myślenia o idei dialogu i jej reprezentacji w szkole oraz otworzyła pole i przestrzeń na prawdziwą dyskusję – tak akademicką, jak i tę prowadzoną już w praktyce szkoły.
This paper is focused on the issue of absence of dialogue at modern school within the fields of: • classroom space arrangement (school desk; „chair entrapment”; separateness of the teachers’ room; spatial barriers); • organisation of the teaching practice (school manual as a limitation of dialogue; the transmissional schema of teaching); • organisation of the school institution (interpersonal relations between all members of the school community; exclusion of parents; vertical management structure). Our aim is to point out few significant variables that determine inefficient and ineffective communication within the school institution and particular class. The authors would like to treat the discourse on obstacles and impediments mentioned above as an opportunity to inspire and to initiate paradigmatic changes of the ways of thinking about the idea of dialogue and its representation at modern school. The authors also intend to open the very possibility of a genuine discussion – at the conference and at school itself.

The paper aims to present the potential, for foreign language students, of the exolingual interactions online in public and open forums. For the analysis of students’ commentaries, I apply the observation categories that were first elaborated for the analysis of posts published in press sites. I focus on narrative commentaries in which web users organize phenomena and events discussed in public discourse and try to give them their individual interpretation. I consider this kind of interaction on press sites as contributing to the civic debates: I argue that they can be also integrated in observation categories used to describe and analyze exchanges between students discussing social issues in reference to foreign language media information. In the paper I present two kinds of commentaries: those written by native speakers in public forums and those written by FL students in response to public commentaries.

Opis:
The present paper is a report on the author’s own teaching experiences and focuses on the creation of learning situations in a virtual environment. The main aim is to define the characteristics of a learning situation in such an environment. More precisely, the paper focuses on: (1) answering the question whether – and to what extent – current studies on the model of hybrid education provide the necessary information useful in developing the professional competence of teachers willing to use ICT tools in their work, and, (2) drawing conclusions about the author’s own teaching experiences, whose aim is to determine what types of actions on the part of the teacher, concerning on the one hand, the task’s scenario and, on the other hand, his or her intervention in a virtual environment, can contribute to learning. The article emphasizes the necessity of perceiving interaction in a virtual environment as a separate communicative situation which requires specific skills both on the part of the teacher and the learner.

Opis:
The paper focuses on the development of the listening comprehension of advanced students of French as a foreign language and concerns current affairs radio programs. It presents the main conclusions discussed with reference to one of the problems researched within a larger academic project conducted from 2010 to 2013. The aim of the paper is to determine some essential principles that should guide the development of questions in the pre-listening stage so that, during the subsequent while-listening stage, they could foster the individual comprehension process. The conclusions emphasize the relationship between the form and function of these pre-listening stage questions and the quality of cognitive and communicative actions performed by the listeners.
