    Opis:
    The distribution of four species of the genus Vulpia [V. myuros (L.) C.C. Gmel., V. bromoides (L.) S.F. Gray, V. ciliata Dumort. and V. geniculata (L.) Link] reported in Poland has been studied. Currently, V. myuros and especially V. bromoides are very rare species, and their greatest concentration can be found only in the Lower Silesia region. The number of their localities decreased after 1950 and it seems resonable to include both species in the "red list" of threatened plants in Poland: V. myuros in the EN category, V. bromoides in the CR category. V. ciliata and V. geniculata are very rare ephemerophytes and their localities not confirmed during ca 60 years are of historical interest only.

    Opis:
    This article reviews the selected problems concerning the taxonomy, karyology, origin, and distribution of the genus Lolium, and especially of L. perenne. The genus consists of eight diploid (2n = 14) species. Four are cross-pollinated (e.g. L. perenne, L. multiflorum), and four are self-pollinated (e.g. L. temulentum, L. remotum). From the taxonomical point of view the first group is often classified as the section Lolium and the second as the section Craepalia. They all originate from the Mediterranean region, most of them are widely distributed in Eurasia and introduced in Africa, Americas, and Australia. In Poland occur: L. perenne, L. multiflorum, L. temulentum, L. rigidum as well as L. remotum and L. subulatum, which occurrence seems to be doubtful. L. perenne is morphologically differentiated and sometimes it is divided (on the basis of inflorescence characters) into several infraspecific taxa, usually varieties. It cross easily with L. multiforum, L. rigidum, other species of the genus and even with some representatives of Festuca. This interfertility suggests that there is no barrier to free gene-exchange between them. The species originate probably from the Mediterranean region, however its natural geographical distribution is rather obscure (at present it is impossible to distinguish its natural and synanthropic localities). In Poland it occurs in the whole territory of the country. L. perenne belongs to the apophytes for which we did not succeed in showing the community of origin. Presently, it grows in ruderal, segetal and seminatural communities of the class Molinio-Arrhenatheretea. Undoubtedly, L. perenne together with other species of the genus constitute an important group of grasses of great interest to botanists as well as to plant breeders and agriculturists. For this reason further fundamental and complementary studies should be carried out.

    Na podstawie danych z „czerwonej listy", „czerwonej księgi" oraz Rozporządzenia MOŚ z 1995 r. dokonano przeglądu przyczyn zagrożeń i sposobów ochrony 25 zagrożonych taksonów traw występujących w Polsce. Jeden gatunek uznano za wymarły, cztery za wymierające, sześć za zagrożone. Pozostałe zakwalifikowano jako rzadkie (11), bądź jako gatunki o nieokreślonym stopniu zagrożenia (2). Na liście prawnie chronionych znalazło się sześć gatunków (tab. 1). Najbardziej zagrożone są gatunki siedlisk skrajnych, np. mokrych i wilgotnych, kserotermicznych oraz rosnące na wybrzeżu morskim i w górach. Dodatkowym zagrożeniem dla wielu gatunków jest mała liczba stanowisk i niewielkie populacje. Najlepszym sposobem ochrony dla większości z nich jest ochrona czynna.
    On the basis of data provided by „List of threatened plants", „Polish plant red data book" and Ordinance of the Minister of Environmental Preservation (1995) the reasons and modes of protection of 25 threatened Polish grass taxa were reviewed. One species was considered as extinct. Four species were placed in the category of endangered, and six in the category of vulnerable. The rest were qualified as rare (11) or of indeterminated threat (2). In the list of legally protected plants six species were included (Tab. 1). Mostly threatened species are those growing under extremal conditions (e.g. wet and xerothermic as well as coastal and mountain habitats). Many species are additionaly threatened because they form small populations in only a few localities. The best way to protect of the majority of them is an active protection.
