    Artykuł zwraca uwagę na wyzwania, jakie stają przed społeczeństwami w dobie szybkich zmian społecznych, kulturowych i politycznych. Cechą charakterystyczną współczesnych społeczeństw jest ich coraz większa wielokulturowość, która zakłada akceptację różnorodności, istnienie pojedynczych kultur w sferze publicznej i prywatnej. Do życia i współdziałania w społeczeństwach wielokulturowych może przygotować edukacja międzykulturowa, która kładzie nacisk na dialog międzykulturowy. Zadaniem edukacji międzykulturowej jest zatem kształtowanie takich postaw społecznych, które pozwolą współczesnym społeczeństwom rozwijać się pokojowo i budować stabilną przyszłość. Podjęta problematyka staje się szczególnie istotna w obliczu wojny, zmian społecznych, politycznych w różnych częściach Europy, nasilającego się zjawiska emigracji itp. Problemy te w dużym stopniu dotykają Polski. Pojawia się wobec tego pytanie, jak Polska jest przygotowana do wielokulturowości? Jaki jest dyskurs naukowy w tym obszarze? Jakie propozycje kierunków rozwoju edukacji międzykulturowej?
    The article draws attention to the challenges facing societies in the era of rapid social, cultural or political changes. A characteristic feature of modern societies is their growing multiculturalism, which assumes the acceptance of diversity, the existence of individual cultures in the public and private sphere. Intercultural education, which emphasizes intercultural dialogue, can prepare for living and interacting in multicultural societies. The task of intercultural education is therefore to shape social attitudes that will allow modern societies to develop peacefully and build a stable future. The issues raised became particularly important in the face of war, social and political changes in various parts of Europe, the growing phenomenon of emigration, etc. These problems affect Poland to a large extent. Therefore, a question arises: how is Poland prepared for multiculturalism? What is the scientific discourse in this area? What are the proposed directions for the development of intercultural education?

    Drug abuse is a growing social problem in Poland and is a particularly serious problem in the Military. The conditions of military service may be a factor that stimulates drug addiction among soldiers, particularly those who are psychically and physically weak and not adapted to team work. The psychical stress that results from the abrupt breaking of existing bonds and social relationships (family, colleagues, partners) is intensified by spatial limits (military barracks), and the character of military units (personal freedom limitation). Another important aspect is, natural in this situation, access to weapons and the nature of tasks performed by a modern army. Yet the army continues to recruit young people who are physically and mentally weaker and weaker. In face of this problem, the commanders, supervisors and teachers are required to possess not only psychological and pedagogical knowledge, but also ethical and moral awareness. The article is based on empirical results of the test conducted in 2007 among 100 conscription soldiers of the Lublin Garrison of the Polish Army.

    Pervaporative separation properties of crosslinked chitosan and alginate membrane on ethanol-water mixture at room temperature was studied. The influence of crosslinking agents on the separation properties were discussed. Selected crosslinking agents were affected differently on used polymer matrices. The better separation properties were obtained for membranes crosslinked by phosphoric (V) acid. The highest pervaporation separation index (309.6 kg/m2·h) and separation factor (52.6) were obtained for phosphoric (V) acid crosslinked alginate membranes, however, the greatest total flux (12.4 kg/m2·h) obtained for phosphoric acid crosslinked chitosan membranes

    W niniejszej publikacji zaprezentowano fragmenty programu profilaktyczno-rewalidacyjnego skierowanego do dzieci z upośledzeniem umysłowym w stopniu lekkim. Opierając się na literaturze przedmiotu wyjaśniono pojęcia: profilaktyka, rewalidacja i upośledzenie. W zasadniczej części artykułu przytoczono scenariusze działań, które osadzono w pięciu sferach rozwojowych, a mianowicie w płaszczyźnie: umysłowej, fizycznej, psychicznej, emocjonalnej i społecznej. Przybliżono też cele, zadania, metody, formy i ukazano sposób organizacji oraz ewaluacji opisywanych działań. Wskazano na potrzebę indywidualnego podejścia do ucznia z upośledzeniem umysłowym oraz uświadomienia nauczycielom i wychowawcom specyficznych potrzeb edukacyjnych dzieci z upośledzeniem. W końcowej części publikacji wysunięto wnioski istotne dla praktyki pedagogicznej.
    This publication presents excerpts from preventive and revalidation programme aimed at children with mild mental retardation. Basing on the subject literature, such notions as prevention, revalidation and retardation were explained. The main part of the article presents scenarios of preventive and revalidation actions embedded in five development areas, which are: mental, physical, psychic, emotional and social. Aims, tasks, methods and forms were presented. The way of organizing and evaluating actions described above was shown. The need of individual approach to students with mental retardation was suggested, as well as the need of making teachers and educators aware of special educational needs of such children. The final part of this publication presents conclusions significant for pedagogical practice.

    The appearance of a child with a disability is always a source of tremendous stress in the family. This problem is particularly evident in the case of an autistic child because of its unpredictable and untypical development. Every person during their life develops certain mechanisms to deal with difficult situations. According to Lazarus and Folkman (1987), dealing with stress mainly relies on specific intellectual activities and appropriate actions to control the requirements assessed by the person as burdensome or beyond his/her current possibilities. There are many ways of dealing with stress. The most common strategies include those focused on solving the problem (SSZ), emotional overreaction (SSE) and avoidance of stress (SSU) by engaging in substitute activities (ACZ) or seeking social interaction (CSA). It is assumed that an effective way to deal with stress consists in relating the needs and capabilities of an individual. The aim of this article was to investigate the ways of dealing with stress among 130 parents of autistic children.

    Opis:
    A vapour permeation of water and ethanol through homogenous chitosan and alginate membranes was investigated. The influence of the polymer matrix and crosslinking agents, and measurement protocol on the transport properties were discussed. The conducted experiments showed the greater separation factor, better stability and resistant to solvents for chemically crosslinked membranes. On the other hand, stronger association of the matrix, than the physical, caused decrease of vapour fluxes.

    The most basic aim of the psychological and pedagogical advisory centre is providing the child and its family with support at every stage of the problems arising. The target of such centres is also undertaking preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, counselling and advisory actions. The profession of a diagnostic – therapeutic counsellor triggers ethical dilemma. Two parties meet and interact with each other in the relations occurring in such advisory centres – the counsellor and the person who needs advice and help. To enable such a contact and make it effectively therapeutic instead of destructive, specialists employed in these centres have to be not only competent and highly qualified but also should possess a sufficient amount of knowledge about themselves, their system of values, opinions etc.

    Social assistance is constantly creating a reality. It is conditioned as the current policy of the country, its economic opportunities and social needs. One of the basic dimensions of the social assistance system in Poland, is working for the benefit of the family. The quantity and quality of the tasks facing the social worker in the field of work with the family by far exceeds its real potential. This is the primary cause for which a social worker should look for allies among the professionals in other ministries. This kind of specialist is a school educator whose tasks and responsibilities are similar, and in some areas completely overlap with the tasks of social worker. Taking advantage of the opportunities arising from these two distinct professional functions, on the basis of synergies, more effective actions can be taken for the diagnosis of family environment and its support for the basic functions of parental leave.
