Opis:
Gully erosion is an important form of soil erosion, however, little was done on the effect of gully erosion controlling approaches. A program for controlling gully erosion was carried out in Heshan Farm in black soil region of northeast China from 1994 to 1996 include two approaches: "Soil fill" and "Vegetation cover". From the investigation at 2009, Soil fill approach can protect the original place of gully erosion well, but this apporach ignores the whole impact at the catchment scale, and may cause to new gully appear. "Vegetation cover" approach is better to control gully erosion than "Soil fill" approach, but has little effect on controlling the headcut retreat.

This paper investigated the focal shift of partially coherent dark hollow Gaussian beams through a thin lens system. An analytic expression of the irradiance distribution of the focusing partially coherent dark hollow Gaussian beams in the back focal plane has been given by using the Collins formula. The focus shift of focused partially coherent dark hollow Gaussian beams in different parameters is studied in detail by numerical calculations. It is found that the absolute value of the focal shift of partially coherent dark hollow Gaussian beams decreases as the transverse coherence width or the order of the dark hollow Gaussian beams or a parameter of the dark hollow Gaussian beams increases.

Accurate tide height is crucial for the safe navigation of large deep-draft ships when they enter and leave the port. We have proposed an accurate forecasting method for the tide heights from the observation data and neural networks, which can easily calculate the tidal window period of large deep-draft ships’ navigation through long channels at high tide. Moreover, an artificial neural network is established for the tide height from the observation of tide heights before their current time node. For an ideal forecast, the neural network was optimized for one year with the tide height data of Huanghua Port. In case of large ships, their tidal characteristics of channels for are complex. A new method is proposed for the observation of multiple stations and artificial neural networks of each observation station. When ships are navigating through the port, the tide height is predicted from the observed data and forecast tide heights of multiple observation stations. Thus, a valid tidal window period is secured when the ships enter the port. Comparative analysis of the ship’s tidal window period with that of the measured one can lead us to conclude that the forecasted data has a strong correlation with the measurement. So, our proposed algorithm can accurately predict the tide height and calculate the node timing when the ship enters and depart the port. Finally, these results can be applied for the safe navigation of large deep-draft ships when the port is at high tide.

Opis:
The advance of MEMS-based inertial sensors successfully expands their applications to small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), thus resulting in the challenge of reliable and accurate in-flight alignment for air-borne MEMS-based inertial navigation system (INS). In order to strengthen the rapid response capability for UAVs, this paper proposes a robust in-flight alignment scheme for airborne MEMS-INS aided by global navigation satellite system (GNSS). Aggravated by noisy MEMS sensors and complicated flight dynamics, a rotation-vector-based attitude determination method is devised to tackle the in-flight coarse alignment problem, and the technique of innovation-based robust Kalman filtering is used to handle the adverse impacts of measurement outliers in GNSS solutions. The results of flight test have indicated that the proposed alignment approach can accomplish accurate and reliable in-flight alignment in cases of measurement outliers, which has a significant performance improvement compared with its traditional counterparts.

Opis:
Shock waves arriving at a dam site are close to plane waves when the center of an underwater explosion is far from the dam site. In general, the wave pressure is calculated with COLE empirical formula. The COLE formula is a negative exponential function with respect to time. In this paper, a new analytical solution algorithm is proposed, which does not require the use of step-by-step time integration. In Comparison with the step-by-step time integration, the proposed algorithm requires relatively less calculation and avoids high-frequency oscillation. Furthermore, the vertical upstream surface and the sloping upstream surface in two types of the dams are analyzed in this paper. The research results indicate that the analytical solution can be applied for a dam with a vertical upstream surface. However, because the upstream face of a dam is inclined, the analytical solution can be obtained only for dams that are at lower height. Whenever the height of a dam is higher, then no analytical solution can be obtained, and only the use of step-by-step time integration can obtain a solution.

Opis:
A protocol, called common driving notification protocol (CDNP), is proposed based on the classified driving behavior for intelligent autonomous vehicles, and it defines a standard with common messages and format for vehicles. The common standard format and definitions of CDNP packet make the autonomous vehicles have a common language to exchange more detail driving decision information of various driving situations, decrease the identification time for one vehicle to identify the driving decisions of other vehicles before or after those driving decisions are performed. The simulation tools, including NS- 3 and SUMO, are used to simulate the wireless data packet transmission and the vehicle mobility; the experiment results present that the proposed protocol, CDNP, can increase the reaction preparing time with maximum value 250 seconds, decrease the identification time and the average travel time. Prospectively, it is decided to implement the CDNP as a protocol stack in the Linux kernel to provide the basic protocol capability for real world transmission testing.

This paper details the design and potential implementation of standing seats in a commuter rail vehicle for the purposes of maximising capacity and revenue. The vehicle interior design is suited to the “Commuter Class” – a subset of travellers who travel primarily within the commuter belt and frequently utilise rail networks on a daily basis but require little additional space for luggage or peripherals. The concept delivers capacity increases in excess of 50% whilst still offering passengers a greater degree of personal space when compared with standing in aisles or gangways. The impact on vehicle stability and supporting intelligent systems are also discussed, delivering a unique design tailored specifically to meet the needs of the commuter class passenger.
Artykuł opisuje szczegółowo projekt stojących miejsc siedzących i potencjał ich wprowadzenia, w podmiejskim pojeździe kolejowym, w celu maksymalizacji wydajności i dochodów z przejazdu. Wnętrze takiego pojazdu jest dostosowane do ludzi przemieszczających się głównie w okręgu miejskim, podróżujących codziennie i wymagających odrobinę miejsca dla mniejszych bagaży czy urządzeń peryferyjnych. Koncepcja zapewnia wzrost pojemności o ponad 50%, dodatkowo oferując pasażerom jeszcze większy stopień osobistej przestrzeni w porównaniu ze staniem w korytarzach lub przejściach. Wpływ na stabilność pojazdu i wspieranie inteligentnych systemów są także uwzględnione, dostarczając tym samym unikalną konstrukcję dostosowaną specjalnie do potrzeb pasażera pociągów podmiejskich.

Opis:
Communication atmosphere based on emotional states of humans and robots is modeled by using Fuzzy Atmosfield (FA), where the human emotion is estimated from bimodal communication cues (i.e., speech and gesture) using weighted fusion and fuzzy logic, and the robot emotion is generated by emotional expression synthesis. It makes possible to quantitatively express overall affective expression of individuals, and helps to facilitate smooth communication in humans-robots interaction. Experiments in a household environment are performed by four humans and five eye robots, where emotion recognition of humans based on bimodal cues achieves 84% accuracy in average, improved by about 10% compared to that using only speech. Experimental results from the model of communication atmosphere based on the FA are evaluated by comparing with questionnaire surveys, from which the maximum error of 0.25 and the minimum correlation coefficient of 0.72 for three axes in the FA confirm the validity of the proposal. In ongoing work, an atmosphere representation system is being planned for casual communication between humans and robots, taking into account multiple emotional modalities such as speech, gesture, and music.

Quayside container crane is a kind of large dimension steel structure, which is the major equipment used for lifting container at modern ports. With the aim to ensure the safety and reliability of the crane under seismic loads, an anti-seismic device is designed. To validate the efficiency and reliability of the anti-seismic device, elastic-plastic time history analysis under rare seismic intensity is carried out. And the results of elastic-plastic time history analysis when the crane installed anti-seismic device and uninstalled the device are compared.

In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the nonlocal problems for the fractional differential equation in Banach spaces. New sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions are established by means of fractional calculus and fixed point method under some suitable conditions. In this paper, an approach to analyze the observability and controllability of sandwich systems with backlash is proposed. In this method, a non-smooth state-space function is used to describe the sandwich systems with backlash which are also non-smooth non-linear systems. Then, a linearization method based on non-smooth optimization is proposed to derive a linearized state-space function to approximate the non-smooth sandwich systems within a bounded region around the equilibrium point that we are interested in. Afterwards, both observability and controllability matrices are constructed and the methods to analyze the observability as well as controllability of sandwich system with backlash are derived. Finally, numerical examples are presented to validate the proposed method.

The anti-impact ability of shafting affects stability and security of the ship power transmission directly. Moreover, it also cannot be ignored that the rub-impact loads have influence on the torsion vibration of ship shafting. In order to solve the problem of engineering application of reliability assessment under rub-impact loads, a test rig with rubbing generator is established. By carrying out the integrative analysis, the torsional vibration characteristics, such as vibration amplitude and orbit of axle center under the rub impact load are studied. According to the rub-impact conditions obtained through numerical simulation, the experimental verification is carried out on the test rig with rubbing generator. The results show that it is not obvious the influence of rub-impact loads upon the shafting torsion vibration except in special working conditions, that can be simulated by the rubbing generator. The maximum amplitude of torsional vibration is influenced by the radial rigidity as well as the friction coefficient of rubbing body, and the degree of influence is difference under conditions of continuous rubbing and serious rubbing. By adjusting the rigidity of stern bearing, the influence of rub-impact upon shafting can be weaken, which provides a theoretical reference for the safety evaluation of ship shafting.

This paper proposes a recursive identification method for systems with output backlash that can be described by a pseudo-Wiener model. In this method, a novel description of the nonlinear part of the system, i.e., backlash, is developed. In this case, the nonlinear system is decomposed into a piecewise linearized model. Then, a modified recursive general identification algorithm (MRGIA) is employed to estimate the parameters of the proposed model. Furthermore, the convergence of the MRGIA for the pseudo-Wiener system with backlash is analysed. Finally, a numerical example is presented.

In this paper, 3 typical organic fluids were selected as working fluids for a sample slag washing water binary power plants. In this system, the working fluids obtain the thermal energy from slag washing water sources. Thus, it plays a significant role on the cycle performance to select the suitable working fluid. Energy and exergy efficiencies of 3 typical organic fluids were calculated. Dry type fluids (i.e., R227ea) showed higher energy and exergy efficiencies. Conversely, wet fluids (i.e., R143a and R290) indicated lower energy and exergy efficiencies, respectively.
