Opis:
Micro-bearings have many applications in computer devices, such as CPU fans or hard disc drives. So far, rolling bearings and slide bearings have been used, for example micro-bearing with smooth Journal and sleeve surface, which is known as FDB - Fluid Dynamic Bearing. Actually, latter versions of micro-bearings are being launched to the market: Ex-FDB - Extra Fluid Dynamic Bearing. This type of bearings was fabricated by putting some micro-grooves filled with oil on its interna! surfaces. Ex-FDB's are characterized by reduced level of generated noise and guarantee long failure-free fan life, reaching 120 000 hours. In this paper we present our numerical calculations of the friction force and the friction coefficient in the parabolic micro-bearing. Micro-bearing gap height is very low, often less then l micrometer, therefore capillarity and adhesion forces cause an increase of oil viscosity near the Journal and sleeve surfaces. Due to this fact a value of hydrodynamic pressure in micro-bearing gap also increases, what results in observed changes of capacity, friction forces and friction coefficient values. The influence of adhesion and capillarity on friction force and friction coefficient of oil in micro-bearing hasn't been considered from analytical point of view so far. This paper presents numerical results of computed values of friction forces and friction coefficient for parabolic micro-bearing in comparison to values for classical parabolic bearing.

Opis:
In this paper, the authors present the results of experimental studies of the nano-hardness and Young's modulus of the injector spray pattern body and needle (the tip of the injector). The nano-hardness of a thin-layer of precisely finished co-operating surfaces was tested according to the depth below the surface of the sample (deep into the material). The quality of precisely finished surfaces of a fuel infector has a very large impact on the proper operation of a diesel engine. Both, the needle and the body of the injector spray pattern, are individually adjusted and lapped to maintain the proper gap between them. The gap between the needle and the injector tip body affects the proper dosage and quality of the sprayed fuel. Impurities in the fuel are of the same order of magnitude or even greater than this gap. Hard particles that penetrate between the side surfaces of the needle and body of the injector tip could result in scratching, which generate leaks and drops of injection pressure, increased fuel consumption, poor spraying of fuel, leaking of fuel to the lubricating oil and reduction of its operating properties. The hardness of the precisely finished surfaces of the injector is essential in the process of wear of these surfaces. The aim of the study was to determine the hardness and Young's modulus of thin layers of precisely finished co-operating surfaces of injector tip and estimation of the thickness of these layers. The nano-hardness measurements were made with the Hysitron TI 950 TriboIdenter, where the test is conducted using a nano-indenter with a mechanical method. The device allows selecting from several to several dozen of measurement points and performs automatic measurement of nano-hardness and Young's modulus in the indicated locations. The study concerns the tip (body and needle) of the non-used Bosch DLLA 160 S 1305 injector. The presented results can be used to develop some new methods of coating the co-operating surfaces with the hard thin layers, e.g. the use of titanium in order to decrease wear and increase scratching resistance.

In this paper authors present results of measurements of slide journal bearings surface topography measured with a profilometer and an atomic force microscope (AFM). Surface topography of investigated bearings (i.e. journals and sleeves) was measured using the Hommeltester T8000- R60 profilometer. The results of these measurements give information about micro-grooves dimensions and location. Measurements of surface topography were made for journals and sleeves of slide journal micro-bearings from personal computers fans, with the Atomic Force Microscope NT-206 produced in MTM in Minsk, Republic of Belarus. The results of measurements of surface topography were presented in the form of surface topography maps, threedimensional graphs and some examples of selected cross-sections of investigated surfaces in the form of profile graphs. The values of profile roughness parameters Ra and Rq and the distance between maximum peak height and maximum valley depth are presented as well. The application SurfaceXplorer registered trademark was used for processing and visualization of the data obtained from AFM NT-206, which besides from generating 2D, 3D and profile diagrams, was used to calculate and draw graphs of height distribution. In this research authors used two identical sets of micro-bearings. The investigated bearings are: a) Kama Flow SP0825FDB12H fan with grooved surface of bearing sleeve, b) Xilence Case fan which sleeve surface was without grooves. First set of that micro-bearings functioned for a year at rated RPM continuously (i.e. 24 hours a day). Second set of the same micro-bearings also functioned for a year at rated RPM, but in intermittent mode (i.e. 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off). On the surfaces of studied micro-bearings some microgrooves can be found in form of herringbone, with depth about 1-2..m and width 100-150..m. Received information about microgrooves geometry will help to develop proper theory of hydrodynamic lubrication for micro-bearings with microgrooves and allows determining how the mode of operating affects on the wear of co-operating surfaces.

The subject of this article was to show the organization and financing of municipal tasks. Author describes the motives and the legal and formal aspects about creation of communal association. Municipal waste management is one of the many tasks of the municipality, which is associated with the protection of the environment, also remaining in the duties of the municipality. This is an area very broad, requiring both expensive infrastructure and adequate organization of the municipality. High capital investment and significant expenditure on the maintenance and the fact that such a task often beyond the financial and organizational individual municipalities, encourages governments to cooperate in this field.

The purpose of this article is to determine, identify and describe the viscosity characteristics of the ferro-oil with different concentrations of magnetic particles in the presence of an external magnetic field interaction. These characteristics are defined in the context of magnetic induction changes. These rheological tests were performed on a Physica MCR 301 rheometer. It was used a measuring system ‘plate to plate’ type which was armed with magneto-rheological research system MRD 180/1T. The tests were performed for the selected temperature of the medium i.e. 90°C, the shear rate θ changes were carried from 0 to 1000 1/s. Changes of the magnetic field intensity value were ranged from 0 to 500 mT. The selected concentrations of magnetic particles in a ferro-oil were 1%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% and the tested ferro-oil was product of FerroTec of Unterensingen (Germany), which is a mixture of colloidal mineral motor oil Penzzoil’s LongLife Gold's SAE 15W-40 with Fe3O4 magnetic particles and the surfactant. Analyses of the results, identify and matching characteristic were calculated using STATISTICA software. It has been proposed three categories of functions mapping the waveforms of the results obtained experimentally: the exponential function, logarithmic with basis of the normal and the polynomial function.

In a tailings pond of approx. 1400 ha, a hydrotransport system conveys approx. 28 mln mg of flotation waste. Mineral waste is not really harmful to the environment (except for dust emission). What does pose a problem is the environment’s impact on surface and ground water, which is due to high concentration of chlorides, sulfates, sodium and magnesium in the water body. Based on a 10 year monitoring research program, the dynamics of chlorides and sulfates’ concentrations and charges in surface water around the tailings pond will be presented. Characteristic concentrations of surface water as a function of water quality in the tailings pond will also be evaluated.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of two cropping systems (intensive and integrated) on infection level of winter and spring wheat kernels by Fusarium species. Field experiments were conducted with winter wheat ‘Tonacja’ and spring wheat ‘Bombona’ during two consecutive growing seasons (2007/2008 and 2008/2009 - winter wheat, and 2008 and 2009 - spring wheat). A rainfall level in 2009 from the last decade of May to the first decade of July was 2.5-times higher than that in 2008. After the harvest, kernels were surface disinfected with 1.5% NaOCl solution for 2 min and then analysed for the infection level by different species of Fusarium. Fusaria were isolated on CZID medium and identified on the basis of macro - and micro-morphology on three media (PDA, SNA and a medium containing tannin). Our results demonstrate that the wheat grain infection by Fusarium depended mainly on a rainfall level. The intensive cropping system was more conducive to the grain infection by fusaria in comparison to the integrated one. The most frequent species were F. avenaceum in 2008, and F. graminearum, F. avenaceum and F. poae in 2009.

The numerical calculations of the hydrodynamic lubrication of slide bearings can be carried out by modelling the oil flow for a given value of height of bearing lubrication gap. On the basis of the assumed height of the lubrication gap, the values of hydrodynamic pressures, load carrying capacities, friction forces, temperatures, can be determined. The bearing lubrication gap height can be influenced by many effects, e.g. misalignment between the shaft axis and the axis of the sleeve, vibrations, varying load, change in the viscosity value of lubricating oil caused by changes in temperature, pressure, shear rate or by oil ageing, wear of journal and sleeve surfaces. This article presents the results of numerical simulations concerning the influence of the misalignment between the axis of shaft and the axis of sleeve of the sliding conical bearing on its hydrodynamic lubrication, by taking into account the position of the plane in which the misalignment occurs. In this study, there was defined an angle between the plane in which the misalignment occurs and the plane in which lies the line of centres of corresponding bearing without misalignment. In this research, to investigate the impact of the position of the plane in which the misalignment occurs, the CFD software, designed to solve general flow phenomena, was used. It was assumed, that the bearings operate in a steady state conditions, the flow in the bearing lubrication gap is laminar and non-isothermal. A lubricating oil has shear properties as the Ostwald-de Waele fluid.

In this work is shown the result of CFD simulation of hydrodynamic conical bearing lubrication with consideration of the effect of the bearing shaft and sleeve surface roughness. The oil flow in a bearing lubrication gap largely depend on the condition of the cooperating surfaces of a bearing. Surface irregularities are formed already at the manufacturing process and furthermore the quality of the surface may change during operation of a bearing. In this work, as a parameter describing surface condition, the Ks roughness height parameter was taken (i.e. sand-grain roughness height). The hydrodynamic pressure distribution in lubrication gaps of investigated bearings were calculated by using the commercial CFD software ANSYS Academic Research for fluid flow phenomenon (Fluent). Calculations were conducted for bearings without misalignment. The Ostwald-de Waele model for non-Newtonian fluids was adopted in this simulation. The coefficients of Ostwald-de Waele relationship were determined by application of the least squares approximation method and fitting curves described by this model to the experimental data, obtained for some motor oils, presented in previous work. The calculated hydrodynamic pressure distributions were compared with the data obtained for corresponding bearings, but assuming that bearings have smooth surfaces and there is no slip on surfaces. This paper presents results for bearings with different rotational speeds and of different bearing gap heights.

Opis:
During the operation of a slide bearing, the position of its shaft or sleeve varies due to many factors, such as vibrations, load changes, changes in the lubricating viscosity. The vibrations or varying load can cause, that the position of the bearing shaft, measured along its axis of rotation, changes. This is particularly important for sliding bearing with conical geometry. Due to the geometry of this kind of bearing, i.e. where the radius of this bearing (of the shaft and sleeve) has not a constant value, as in the case of a journal bearing, it is more difficult to obtain proper values and describe its hydrodynamic lubrication. This article shows the results of hydrodynamic lubrication of the slide conical bearing, for which the changes in the position of the bearing shaft in the longitudinal direction, i.e. along its axis of rotation, were taken into account. The commercial CFD software, designed for solving general for flow phenomena problems, was used in the simulations. This article shows the results of simulations, assuming that the lubricating oil behaves as a generalized Newtonian fluid. The hydrodynamic pressure distributions, load carrying capacities and friction torques were calculated for the concerned bearing. The aim of this work is to show how the operating parameters of the slide conical bearing can be influenced, by only changes of the position of the shaft along the axis of its rotation.

Opis:
The lateral loads carried by hydrodynamic bearings, and also their uneven distribution, introduce an additional axial misalignment between the shaft and sleeve. The machining and mounting errors also result in improper initial alignment of bearing shaft or sleeve. Furthermore, due to vibrations, misalignment of shaft fluctuates during the operation of the bearing. This has an impact on the operating parameters of the bearing, and, in extreme cases, where the maximum allowable value of the misalignment is exceeded, the bearing can be damaged. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of misalignment on the hydrodynamic pressure distribution in the conical sliding bearing lubrication gap and on the bearing load carrying capacity and friction force values. This paper shows the result of a CFD simulation of hydrodynamic conical bearings lubrication with the assumption that the bearings are misaligned, i.e. where the rotation axis of bearing shaft is not parallel to the axis of the cone of the bearing sleeve. The commercial CFD software ANSYS Fluent was used in this research. It was assumed that the flow of lubricating oil is laminar, without slipping on bearing surfaces, and that the oil has non-Newtonian properties.
