Environmental sustainability is currently a topical issue globally. Reason for this might not be unconnected with the need to ensure balancing of environmental protection as well as social responsibility as requisite for healthy environment and economy. Thus, an understanding of the indispensability of environment generally has led to the clarion call for better steward of environment by human beings, bearing in mind the deteriorating state of the environment and its consequences. This study employed a triangulation of instrument in developing responsible attitude towards environment. 72 participants involving artisans, technocrats, farmers, marketers, industrialists, public servants and institutions were drawn across urban and peri-urban areas within four local governments in Oyo, Oyo state, Nigeria. In-depth interviews were conducted among the participants on the extent, effects of human impacts as well as desirability of responsible attitudes to the environment. Data were analyzed through coded description, verbatim reporting, content analysis and categorization of ideas expressed by participants in the IDIs. It was revealed that human beings have impacted on the environment in a number of ways culminating in untold effects on the environment and its components. The need for responsible attitude to environment was therefore suggested as measure towards sustainable environment and development.

This paper is mainly focused on analyzing the impact of four advertising appeals, namely love appeal, humor appeal, happiness appeal and excitement appeal on purchase intention for women fashion products in Malaysia. Primary data were collected from 303 respondents using selfadministered online questionnaire that was distributed among social media users in Malaysia. The collected data went through an extensive process of screening and sorting to prepare for the analyses. Several important tests were conducted using analytical tools, namely IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and its added module, AMOS to reach the fi ndings. Among them are a descriptive analysis, reliability tests, an exploratory and confi rmatory factor analysis, and hypothesis testing. In addition, two-stage structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to test for the fi tness of the proposed model. The fi ndings from the study revealed that two out of four advertising appeals, namely excitement appeal and love appeal, had signifi cant positive impacts on consumers’ purchase intention. Meanwhile, humor appeal and happiness appeal were found to have insignifi cant impacts. This research provides invaluable insights for marketers, especially those in women’s fashion industry in Malaysia, in creating eff ective advertising campaign to promote their fashion products to consumers in Malaysia. A unique attempt to investigate the individual impact of love appeal, humor appeal, happiness appeal, and excitement appeal on purchase intention is the strength of this research. Further, this study is also invaluable because of its main consideration, which was women’s fashion products.

Vertebrates from the Triassic Period have broadly disparate tooth shapes and dentition patterns, the result of intense morphospace experimentation following the Permo-Triassic extinction. Here, we describe fragmentary tooth-bearing jaw elements of the rare Gondwanan Middle Triassic taxon Palacrodon that represent first occurrences from the Upper Triassic Chinle Formation in northeastern Arizona. These specimens come from two notably diverse macrovertebrate and microvertebrate assemblages, the “coprolite layer” horizon in Petrified Forest National Park, and the Placerias Quarry near St. Johns, Arizona. Palacrodon is diagnosed by the presence of acrodont maxillary and dentary dentition of labiolingually-widened, bulbous teeth, which are fused to one another mesiodistally, and are pyramidal in lateral view. We agree with previous workers and refer Palacrodon to Diapsida based on the presence of a posterior jugal spur and a quadrate that has a quadratojugal foramen and a concave posterior surface. Formerly known only from the Cynognathus Assemblage Zone in southern Africa and Antarctica, the presence of Palacrodon in the Norian of North America represents a temporal range extension of at least 15 million years and represents the first tetrapod genus known to be present in the Karoo Basin, Fremouw Formation, and the Upper Triassic of the southwestern United States. Range extensions such as this suggest that some vertebrate biostratigraphic hypotheses for the Triassic may be less robust than previously believed and subject to significant sampling biases.

Sinice (Cyanophyta) z rodzaju Microcystis, Oscillatoria, Anabaena, Aphanizomenon czy też Phormidium są zdolne są zdolne do wytwarzania hepatotoksyn (mikrocystyn), jak również licznej grupy neurotoksyn (anatoksyna-a, -a(s), -b, -c, -d, saksytoksyna, neosaksytoksyna, itp.) o bardzo zróżnicowanym mechanizmie działania na ekosystem i organizm ludzki. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących zawartości neurotoksyn (Antx-a, Antx-a(s), HomoAntx-a) w wodzie ze Zbiornika Sulejowskiego. W oparciu o wskaźniki jakości wody oraz parametry jej oczyszczania scharakteryzowano skuteczność usuwania neurotoksyn w poszczególnych procesach oczyszczania wody. Stwierdzono, że zawartość neurotoksyn w biomasie pobranej ze Zbiornika Sulejowskiego wynosiła 0,1÷139,1 mg/g, natomiast ich średnia zawartość w ujmowanej wodzie wynosiła 1-5 mg/m3. Wykazano, że najskuteczniejszym etapem usuwania neurotoksyn (Antx-a, HomoAntx-a oraz Antx-a(s)) był etap ozonowania, którego skuteczność wynosiła 13,1÷23,1%, lecz była jednak niższa niż w wypadku usuwania mikrocystyny LR (58÷80%).
Cyanobacteria (Cyanophyta) of the genus Microcystis, Oscillatoria, Anabaena, Alphanizomenon or Phormidium have the ability to produce hepatotoxins (microcystins) and a large group of neurotoxins (anatoxin-a, -a(s), -b, -c, -d, saxitoxin, neosaxitoxin, etc.) highly diverse in the mechanism of toxicity towards the ecosystem and humans (with an LD50 ranging from 10 to 200 mg/kg of human body). Samples of the Sulejów lake water were analyzed for the presence of neurotoxins (Antx-a, Antx-a(s) and HomoAntx-a). The efficiency of neurotoxins removal was assessed after particular unit process by taking into account the values of the water quality parameters measured prior to and after the treatment process. The content of neurotoxins in the biomass samples collected from the Sulejów Impoundment Lake varied from 0.1 to 139.1 mg/g, while in the lake water samples their content averaged between 1 and 5 mg/m3. Ozonation was found to be the most efficient unit process with an extent of neurotoxin (Antx-a, Antx-a(s) and HomoAntx-a) removal of 13.1 to 23.1%, which was, however, lower than that of misrocystin LR removal amounting to 58-80%.

The major goal of this study is to determine the bioaccumulation of heavy metals in the tissues and bones of Red Hybrid Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and Mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) taken from two distinct sites in Terengganu state, Malaysia, namely Kijal and Paka. Zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), and lead (Pb)were the metals examined. Soil analysis also was carried out for the same elements. The tissues and bones of the fishes were separated before further analysis was made. Drying process technique was used to determine the moisture content for all samples at 80°C for 24 hours. Water content ranged between 70 & 77%. Triplicate samples were evaluated by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) to find out heavy metals concentration. Oven and Teflon beakers were used to fully digest all solid samples at 120oC for 3 hours. Highest readings of Zn, Ni and Pb were found in the fish bone for the samples collected from both mentioned locations. However, different pattern was noticed for Cu where higher values were found in the tissues for the same samples. Values of Pb in the tissues were higher than the acceptable value in edible fish by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); 1 ppm and Malaysian Food Act (MFR) & World Health Organization (WHO); 2 ppm, whereas values of Cu, Zn were in the acceptable range set by the same organizations. No values recommended for Ni by MFR. In general heavy metals in the bones and tissues from both locations can be sorted in descending order as follows; Pb>Zn>Cu>Ni. Soil samples collected from both locations showed different pattern where high concentration was found for Zn followed by Pb then Cu and Ni. Moreover analysis for soil samples collected from Paka River showed higher content for all elements compared to Kijal. More investigation is needed to clarify whether this contamination is solely from industry or due to geology of the area.

This paper deals with using information communication technology at different levels of English courses in A. Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Kazakhstan. The use of information communication technology enables students to expand their language study. Students expressed their positive opinions about the benefits of using information communication technology. Realizing the value of the students’ positive opinion about using the information communication technologies in the learning process, conditions should be created for them to have the chance to broadly use them in modern education. This study explored how social networking technology can be used to supplement face-to-face courses as a means of enhancing students’ sense of community. Data was collected from 102 students of engineering and pedagogical faculty who enrolled in these courses. Findings indicated that the majority of participants developed strong feelings of social connectedness and expressed favorable feelings regarding their learning experiences in the classes where social networking sites were used as a supplementary tool. Learner difficulties and concerns of instructors about the educational use of social media are addressed with recommendations for future research and practice.

With its porous structure, high water storage capacity and high levels of macro- and micronutrients, vermicompost can play an effective role in plant growth and development. The purpose of this research is to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers in large agricultural holdings where dry beans are grown to protect soil and crop health, and to popularize the use of cow and worm manure. The research was carried out from April to August of 2020 and 2021, in the Faculty of Agriculture of Dicle University in the southeastern Anatolia of Turkey, and the aim was to evaluate the effect of separate and combined applications of cow manure (2.5, 5.0 and 10 t ha-1) and liquid vermicompost (recommended 50% and 100%) on the growth, yield and yield components of dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). The experiment was laid out in the randomized complete block design with three iterations. The soil was treated with vermicompost as foliar spray at the crop’s flowering stage and with cow manure – during sowing. Plant samples for growth parameters were collected every 20 days starting from 20 days after emergence (DAE) until maturity, and plots were harvested for yield and yield components. Differences among the applications were significant for growth, yield, and yield components. 10 t ha-1 of cow manure + 100% recommended dose of vermicompost produced high levels of vegetative parts, such as leaves and stems until 80 DAE, but the highest seed yield (14.2 g plant-1) and yield components were achieved in the 5 t ha-1 of cow manure + 100% recommended dose of vermicompost combination. Even a separate vermicompost application increased in the vegetative parts and yield components of bean plants compared to control.

Digitaria insularis (sourgrass) is a monocotyledon weed of difficult control and high in- vasive behavior. Atrazine is widely applied in the Americas to control weeds in maize cul- ture, but its efficiency against D. insularis is limited. The incorporation of atrazine into poly(epsilon-caprolactone) nanocapsules increased the herbicidal activity against suscep- tible weeds; however, the potential of this nanoformulation to control atrazine-tolerant weeds including D. insularis has not yet been tested. Here, we evaluated the post-emergent herbicidal activity of nanoatrazine against D. insularis plants during initial developmental stages. The study was carried out in a greenhouse, using pots filled with clay soil. Plants with two or four expanded leaves were treated with conventional or nanoencapsulated at- razine at 50 or 100% of the recommended dosage (1,000 or 2,000 g ∙ ha −1 ), followed by the evaluation of physiological, growth, and control parameters of the plants. Compared with conventional herbicide, both dosages of nanoatrazine induced greater and faster inhibition of D. insularis photosystem II activity at both developmental stages. Atrazine nanoencap- sulation also improved the control of D. insularis plants, especially in the stage with two expanded leaves. In addition, nanoatrazine led to higher decreases of dry weight of four- leaved plants than atrazine. The use of the half-dosage of nanoatrazine was equally or more efficient in affecting most of the evaluated parameters than the conventional formulation at full dosage. Overall, these results suggest that the nanoencapsulation of atrazine potenti- ated its post-emergent herbicidal activity against D. insularis plants at initial developmental stages, favoring the control of this atrazine-tolerant weed.
