W artykule zaprezentowano jedynie fragment obszernych badań, przeprowadzonych wśród pracowników socjalnych, pracujących w ośrodkach pomocy społecznej w województwach: pomorskim, kujawsko-pomorskim oraz warmińsko-mazurskim (badaniami objęto 1362 pracowników socjalnych). W niniejszym tekście wybrano do prezentacji codzienne czynności zawodowe, których wykonywanie deklarują badani. W interpretacji badań czynności te zostały przez Badaczki podzielone na dyrektywne oraz niedyrektywne. Za dyrektywne uznano te, które pracownik socjalny narzuca klientowi czy jego rodzinie, jako właściwe, a o ich właściwości czy poprawności decyduje pracownik bez współdziałania z klientem. Za niedyrektywne uznaje się takie, w których obszar decyzji co do ostatecznego kształtu podjętego działania, pozostawia się klientowi. Metodyczne czynności zawodowe o charakterze niedyrektywnym dają klientowi możliwość decydowania o wyborze kierunku zmiany, dają mu, niezbędną w pracy socjalnej, przestrzeń samostanowienia.

The article presents a sample of the results of the quantitative study carried out among 1362 social workers of social services in three regions: kujawsko-pomorskie, pomorskie and warmińsko-mazurskie. Certain daily activities, carried out by the interviewees at different rates, were analysed. Prior the analysis, these activities were divided into two groups: required/necessary and supplementary/supportive. The required activities shall be understood as those described by law or determined by the social worker (certain duties and obligations towards the clients) while the supplementary mean all the decisions resting on the clients themselves.

Ist die Vision der technologischen Besonderheit und einer ungezügelten Expansion der Technik, die praktisch in jeden Bereich menschlicher Aktivität einschreitet, von der globalisierter politischen, ökonomischen, sozialen und kulturellen Makro-Ebene über die Mezo-Ebene des Funktionierens der lokalen Gemeinschaften bis zur Mikro-Ebene der alltäglichen zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen, unabwendbar? Strebt menschliches Handeln tatsächlich einen merkwürdigen Punkt in der zukünftigen Entwicklung der Zivilisation an, nach dessen Überschreitung jegliche Vermutungen hinsichtlich menschlicher Existenz nicht mehr aktuell werden, und das gegenwärtig geltende Paradigma des Lebens der Gattung Homo sapiens nicht mehr gültig erscheint. The issue of a human’s identity, as well as his role and place in the surrounding world is a prominent theme in terms of a reflection on human intellect and capabilities of a mind. As such - in the context of contemplation about human nature and the quintessence of being - where technological development, being practically unlimited by now, can lead to? The  visions of technological personality and indomitable technological expansion, are present in practically every aspect of human activity - from a globalized political macroplane, through economic, social or cultural ones, local societies functionalities mesolevel to everyday human relations microplanes. It raises a question about the both aforementioned concepts being unavoidable. Are human actions in fact leading to a certain, peculiar milestone in a future humanity development, which will result in every present prediction about humanity’s identity being outdated? The article touches upon theoretical speculation about axiological and economic consequences of transhumanism.
Problematyka tożsamości człowieka, jego roli i miejsca w otaczającym świecie zajmuje poczesne miejsce w refleksji nad ludzkim intelektem i możliwościami umysłu. Do czego zatem, w kontekście rozważań nad naturą ludzką i kwintesencją jestestwa, przyczynić się może praktycznie nieograniczony już postęp technologiczny? Czy wizja technologicznej osobliwości i niepohamowanej ekspansji techniki, wkraczającej praktycznie w każdą sferę ludzkiej aktywności – począwszy od zglobalizowanej makropłaszczyzny politycznej, ekonomicznej, społecznej, kulturowej przez mezopoziom funkcjonowania społeczności lokalnych, a skończywszy na mikropłaszczyźnie codziennych relacji międzyludzkich – jest nieuchronna? Czy ludzkie działania faktycznie dążą do pewnego osobliwego punktu w przyszłym rozwoju cywilizacji, po przekroczeniu którego wszelkie przewidywania, co do form istnienia człowieka staną się nieaktualne? Artykuł stanowi teoretyczne rozważania nad aksjologicznymi i ekonomicznymi konsekwencjami transhumanizmu.

Humansare not able to change their nature other than through their own actions and with the participation of others. The full development of personal life can therefore only be achieved in society. Managing the available resources, through his activity, man delineates the boundaries between the private, the individual, and the public spheres. The decisive factor in the right to private property is the individual’s own work. In economic theory, public goods are a manifestation of market failure, as market mechanisms for regulating supply and demand do not apply to the market for the quantity of goods supplied to the market. The theory of public goods is therefore primarily the subject of economic research and analysis, and the idea of the common good is the domain of philosophical reflection, especially of political philosophy. Considering the dynamic progress of civilization and the associated process of exploiting the natural environment in human economic activity, the policy of proper use of natural resources, taking into account the respect for the common good of the general public, is increasingly important. The answer to the challenges of the present day is the theory of sustainable development developed, in particular, in the green economy. It is considered to be a socio‑philosophical idea, the direction of economic development, as well as the direction of scientific research, and it comprehensively deals with the problem of the long‑term ability of the modern economy to develop upon the criterion of intergenerational justice. The article addresses issues of public goods theory and sustainable development in the context of Locke’s philosophical thought. The emancipation of Locke’s philosophical achievements manifests itself not only in the sphere of political philosophy, but also in the socio‑economic context, forming the skeleton of modern democratic states. Locke’s reflections, especially in the Two Treaties on Government, are an endorsement of individualism, economic freedom and economic liberalism, as well as the idea of a natural environment in the context of economic human activity. The practical realization of the common good in social, political and economic life suffers many difficulties in the conditions of the globalized world. Hence, interdisciplinary and deeper reflection on the real good perceived both by the individual and by the community is necessary. It also seems reasonable to discuss the ways of perceiving the common good and the public interest of present and future generations.

Celem badania zbioru nagrań i dokumentów programowych w Archiwum Polskiego Radia było ujawnienie nielinearności przebiegu popularyzacji muzyki gitarowej w Polsce.
The Polish Radio’s long-lasting broadcasting monopoly brought about the technological and later historical as well as political relegation of the guitar, in particular classical guitar, to a musical niche. The aim of the present study of a collection of recordings and programming documents stored at the Polish Radio Archive was to reveal the non-linear nature of the history of the popularisation of guitar music in Poland.

The functioning of hospice institutions may be considered based on three fundamental, functions accomplished by it, i.e. existential, social and economic ones. Holistic evaluation of hospice care requires taking into account actual and potential advantages, possible to achieve both through society represented by all citizens, and through the economy. The article has a survey character – the literature is based on critical analysis within the scope ofthe subject raised. The work was made rich from two-year own experience of volunteer work. For the purpose of realization of the subject raised, empirical examinations were also conducted based on the method of shadow prices and logical matrix. In this paper, the implementation of the function of an existential volunteer hospice is considered on the basis of its ability to alleviate the suffering of patients’ mental and spiritual capacity and give them practical help by volunteers. The usefulness of hospices, which is a part of their social function, was studied by considering the point of existence and functioning of palliative and long-term care centres. In order to define the economic function of a voluntary service, micro and macroeconomic types of analysis were used. One should, however, emphasise that these examinations should have an interdisciplinary character.

Aniela Godecka was a co-founder of non-habit Congregation of Little Sisters of Mary Immaculate an active initiator of actions connected with social economy amongst the contemporary factory population. For Aniela Godecka in the sphere of the social economy above all a penetrating analysis and a correct identification of needs of social, professional and economic women were a base of her effective news. Growing disproportions and divisions of the society and the reaction to exclude larger groups from the mainstream of the social life became the base of distinguishing principal areas of Godecka’s activity: service delivery for the society, educational activity, social welfare and health care. Socio-economic transformations taking place throughout the centuries have had a significant impact on the perception of femininity and shaping social mentality. It can therefore pose the question: Whether and to what extent the potential of historical experience Godecka can be used by women 21st century? Godecka’s activity can constitute the inspiration for women living in the 21st century. Aniela Godecka’ experience constitutes the incentive for contemporary women to take part in socio-economic integration, to propagate behaviours and enterprising attitudes and the behaviours in accordance with accepted system of values.

Im Artikel wurde ein Überblick über unterschiedliche Klassifizierungen und Typologien von Kulturen (die Konzepte von G. Hofstede, F. Trompenaars, R.R. Gesteland, Ch. Hampden-Turner, E.T. Hall) gegeben. Es wurden auch der Einfluss der kulturellen Bedingungen auf die wirtschaftliche Sphäre sowie ökonomische Aspekte der interkulturellen Kommunikation bestimmt. Kulturelle Bedingtheiten beeinflussen das Funktionieren von ökonomischen und sozialen Institutionen, indem sie eine bestimmte sozial-ökonomische Ordnung schaffen. Die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung bedingt die kulturelle Entwicklung der Gesellschaft und beeinflusst auch mittelbar den ökonomischen Wohlstand und die Verbesserung von Lebensbedingungen der Individuen. Der Bedarf an interkultureller Kommunikation kommt besonders unter den Umständen der wirtschaftlichen Globalisierung und der mit ihnen verbundenen Prozesse der Vereinheitlichung von Märkten, der Unifizierung von Produkten, der Beseitigung von Hindernissen im internationalen Handel und der expansiven Aktivität von weltweiten Konzernen zum Vorschein. Der kulturelle Ausmaß der Globalisierung ist mit der Diffusion, der Angleichung und der Vermischung von Kulturleitbildern besonders im Konsumbereich verbunden. Die Globalisierung begleitet die ihr entgegengesetzte Lokalisierung, die sich mit Lokalismus, Partikularismus und Fragmentierung verbindet. Gegenwärtige Bedingtheiten implizieren folglich verschiedene Formen der interkulturellen Kommunikation: eine interkulturelle, zwischenkulturelle, internationale und globale.
The article reviews various cultural classifications and typologies (concept of G. Hofstede, F. Trompenaars, R.R. Gesteland, Ch. Hampden-Turner, E.T. Hall). An attempt was also made to determine the impact of cultural conditions on the economic sphere and identify the economic aspects of intercultural communication. Cultural determinants influence the functioning of economic and social institutions, creating a specific socio-economic order and order. Economic development, on the other hand, determines the cultural development of society, also indirectly affecting economic well-being and improving the living conditions of individuals. The need for intercultural communication is particularly evident in the conditions of economic globalization and related processes of unification of markets, unification of products, elimination of barriers in international trade and expansion of global corporations and corporations. The cultural dimension of globalization is connected with the diffusion, assimilation and mixing of cultural patterns, especially in the sphere of consumption. Globalization is accompanied by the opposite to it location which is connected with locality, particularity and fragmentation, which together create anti-globalization. Contemporary conditions imply various forms of intercultural communication: cross-cultural, intercultural, international and global.
W artykule dokonano przeglądu różnorodnych klasyfikacji i typologii kultur (koncepcja G. Hofstedego, F. Trompenaarsa, R. R. Gestelanda, Ch. Hampden-Turner, E. T. Halla). Określono też wpływ uwarunkowań kulturowych na sferę gospodarczą oraz ekonomiczne aspekty komunikacji międzykulturowej. Uwarunkowania kulturowe wpływają na funkcjonowanie instytucji ekonomicznych oraz społecznych, tworząc określony ład i porządek społeczno-ekonomiczny. Rozwój gospodarczy warunkuje kulturowy rozwój społeczeństwa, wpływając także pośrednio na dobrobyt ekonomiczny i poprawę warunków życia jednostek. Potrzeba komunikacji międzykulturowej uwidacznia się szczególnie w warunkach globalizacji gospodarczej i związanych z nią procesów ujednolicenia rynków, unifikacji produktów, znoszenia barier w handlu międzynarodowym i ekspansji działalności ogólnoświatowych koncernów i korporacji. Wymiar kulturowy globalizacji związany jest z dyfuzją, upodobnieniem się i wymieszaniem wzorów kulturowych, zwłaszcza w sferze konsumpcji. Globalizacji towarzyszy przeciwstawna jej lokalizacja, która łączy się z lokalizmem, partykularyzmem i fragmentacją. Współczesne uwarunkowania implikują zatem różne formy komunikacji międzykulturowej: poprzezkulturową, pomiędzykulturową, międzynarodową oraz globalną.

Turbulent environment is causing increasing risk and uncertainty affecting the functioning of enterprises. Therefore, the need for strengthening their economic security is of basic importance to them. The goal of this paper is to present the understanding of economic security of enterprises from the perspective of enterprises situated in urban technology parks. The topic is relevant and has not been widely discussed yet, particularly within the analysed context of local economic security. To accomplish this goal, the research uses the case study method to analyse Lublin Science and Technology Park (LSTP) and its local environment of the city of Lublin. The study is based on standardised questionnaire directed to enterprises located in LSTP. Empirical studies referring to perception of economic security of enterprises are based on information gained from enterprises located in Lublin with the status of tenants of LPNT, which are used as a base for a case study. The study confirms that location in a technology park which is innovative city’s space has a positive impact on economic security of enterprises. It also confirms the impact of the city on economic security of enterprises as city’s space users. It is attributable both to new enterprises located in the technology park, as well as enterprises relocated there from other areas of the city.

The distributions of the rates of return on the fixed target portfolios and classic Markowitz’s ones are compared on example of companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The data used in the analysis refer to the period from 1.01.19% to 28.02.2001. The basic parameters o f returns distribution are calculated. The returns on portfolios are non-normally distributed. The analysis of empirical results suggests that, for the Warsaw Stock Exchange, fixed target semi-variance is a more appropriate risk measure than variance.
Porównano rozkłady stóp zwrotu portfeli zbudowanych w oparciu o klasyczny model Markowitza z portfelami efektywnymi minimalizującymi semiwariancję od założonej stopy zwrotu. Przeanalizowano podstawowe charakterystyki rozkładu stóp zwrotu oraz zbadano ich zgodność z rozkładem normalnym. Badania objęły wszystkie spółki (56), które w całym okresie od 01.01.1996 r. do 28.02.2001 r. były notowane na WGPW. Żaden z badanych portfeli nie charakteryzuje sie normalnym rozkładem stóp zwrotu. Dla portfeli minimalizujących semiwariancję od założonej stopy zwrotu, odstępstwo od rozkładu normalnego jest wyraźniejsze niż dla portfeli zbudowanych zgodnie z klasycznym modelem Markowitza. Oznacza to, że dla polskiego rynku akcji właściwsze jest budowanie portfeli z wykorzystaniem semiwariancji od założonej stopy zwrotu niż wariancji.

Rolnictwo miejskie w obecnej formie integracji jest nowym elementem funkcjonalnym miast o wzrastającym znaczeniu dla miast przyszłości, tj. miast zrównoważonych, zielonych, odpornych i inteligentnych.
Cities embody the idea of change, being at the same time the impulse and driving force of this change. Urban agriculture is also a part of this process, constituting one of the contemporary perspectives of the urban future. Urban agriculture in its current form of integration is a new functional element of cities gaining increasing importance for the future cities i.e. sustainable, green, resilient and smart cities.

The notion of innovation is interpreted in the different way but what all innovations have in common is that they are new. The perspective of innovation includes both wide analysis in which innovations are ideas related to the process of knowledge accumulation and narrow interpretation based on technology and product changes. Wide approach is connected to the fact that innovations capture not only original changes but also imitations which played an important role in the process of economic development. Development is not possible without innovations and this process is led by innovative enterprises characterized by high ability to generation of innovations and permanent inclination to do it. The issue of measuring of innovation process precisely is difficult due to the fact that there are no clear delineations of innovations which results in using various yardsticks in the approaches to measuring innovations. The field of measurement of innovations is more complex by adding effects of innovative activity and additional aspects such as innovative agents and innovative networks.
