Opis:
Thermal expansion of $Lu_2$ $Fe_{17-x}Si_x$ solid solutions was measured by X-ray powder diffraction. The magnetic ordering in all compounds within the homogeneity range (x≤3. 4) is accompanied by a large spontaneous volume magnetostriction distributed anisotropically over the principal axes of the hexagonal crystal structure. The volume effect ω_s in the ground state reaches $14.7×10^{-3}$ in $Lu_2Fe_{17}$ and decreases monotonously to $8.9×10^{-3}$ at x = 3.4 following the reduction of magnetic moment. Despite still large $ω_s$, the Invar behavior observed in $Lu_2Fe_{17}$ changes to a positive thermal expansion for x >1 due to increasing Curie temperature.

Recent experimental data on the diffusion coefficient of carbon in á-iron below liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT) question the classical approach to the observed temperature dependence. As the temperature is lowered below LNT, the diffusion constant tends to a nearly temperature-independent value rather than continuing its activated trend. The low temperature branch is apparently characteristic of a quantum mechanical process dominated by tunneling in ground state. Concomitantly we apply an occurrence-probability approach to describing the overall temperature dependence as a single continuous rate. Within the adiabatic approximation the electronic eigenvalue depending parametrically on the nuclear coordinates is taken to be the potential energy to control the motion of the nuclei. The resulting rate involves all horizontal-tunneling energy-conserving elastic transitions at the quantized energy levels of the migrating atom. A small though not negligible slope in the temperature dependence as the temperature is raised below 100 K is dealt with by complementing for the rate of a parallel one-phonon inelastic-tunneling process in excess to the basic elastic-tunneling rate. Our combined approach agrees well with the experimental data. In particular, the frequency of the coupled vibration is obtained virtually identical to the carbon vibrational frequency from inelastic neutron scattering data. The migrational barrier is also found to be within the limits expected for alfa-iron.

Here we present the results of the zero-field specific heat study of the $LuFe_6Al_6$ single crystal. The specific heat data were analyzed as a sum of the phonon, electronic, and magnetic contributions, respectively. The analysis of the phonon part involves three acoustic and 36 optical branches, respectively, all of them corrected for the anharmonicity. The magnetic part of the specific heat was obtained by subtracting the electronic and the phonon part from the experimental specific heat and the magnetic entropy was calculated.

Samples of CdTe single crystals which are used as radiation detectors were periodically measured during a long time interval with different values of an applied voltage. The samples were also periodically exposed during long time periods to high temperatures of 390 K and to rapid changes of temperature from 300 K to 390 K. After 1.5 years of measurements we observed ageing of the samples which resulted in deterioration of their transport characteristics. The resistance of the samples increased significantly and current-voltage characteristics were unstable in time. Noise spectroscopy showed that low frequency noise can be used for detection of CdTe sample ageing as its spectral density increases significantly comparing to the 1/f noise of a high quality sample.

Magnetic anisotropy of $Lu_2Co_{17-x}Si_x$ single crystals grown by the Czochralski method was investigated. The homogeneity range of Si substitution for Co extends up to x = 3.4 in $Lu_2Co_{17-x}Si_x$ solid solutions. The unit cell volume, Curie temperature, and spontaneous magnetic moment decrease monotonously with increasing Si content. $Lu_2Co_{17}$ has the easy-plane type of magnetic anisotropy in the ground state, which changes into the easy-axis type by two spin-reorientation transitions of the second-order, the easy-plane-easy-cone at $T_{SR1}$~680 K and the easy-cone - easy-axis at $T_{SR2}$~730 K. Upon Si substitution, the observed spin-reorientations shift towards the lower temperatures for $Lu_2Co_{17-x}Si_x$ $(T_{SR1}$~75 K and $T_{SR2}$~130 K in $Lu_2Co_{16}Si$) and vanish for compounds with 1

Opis:
By means of neutron diffraction on a hexagonal UIrAl single crystal we find that this system orders ferromagnetically at low temperatures with magnetic moments of 0.93 (10) $μ_B$ aligned along the c axis. The Curie temperature $T_C$ = 65 (5) K determined from the diffraction experiment is in good agreement with bulk magnetic measurements.

γ-U metal, stabilized down to room temperature in the bcc structure by Mo doping, can absorb hydrogen at high $H_{2}$ pressures only. The product is amorphous hydride $UH_{3}Mo_{x}$ analogous to $β-UH_{3}$. Such hydrides are ferromagnetic with high Curie temperatures (up to 200 K), enhanced with respect to $β-UH_{3}$. Magnetic moment of U also increases. Large disorder together with high anisotropy lead to a very high coercivity, reaching 4 T at low temperatures. As amorphization normally tends to suppress magnetic ordering of U compounds, such hydrides represent a new class of materials, amorphous U-based ferromagnets with relatively high Curie temperature.

This work presents the results of TiN/MoN coatings studying. These multilayer nanostructured coatings demonstrate dependence on depositions conditions on nanometer level. The influence of nanosized monolayer thickness on structure changing and properties of nanocomposite multilayer coatings TiN/MoN was found. Multilayer TiN/MoN coatings of the total thickness from 6.8 to 8.2 μm were obtained using C-PVD method. Thicknesses of monolayers were 2, 10, 20, 40 nm. The structure of samples was studied using X-ray diffraction (Bruker D-8 Advance) in Cu $K_{α}$ radiation, high resolution transmission electron microscopy with diffraction CFEI EO Techai F200, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (JEOL-7001F), and microhardness measurements in dependence on indenter load. Scratch tests (friction, wear, etc.) were also provided using Rockwell-C diamond indenter (CSM Revetest Instruments) with a tip radius of 200 μm. Friction and wear behavior were evaluated using ball-on-plate sliding test on a UMT-3MT tribometer (CETR, USA). With decreasing monolayer thickness the hardness value increases, and the size of nanograins reduces. The values obtained for the friction coefficient of the multilayer system is much smaller than in nanostructured coatings of TiN (nc) or MoN (nc). Annealing showed formation of a (Ti,Mo)N solid solution and small growth of nanocrystals.

We report the first application of sublimation molecular beam epitaxy to grow uniformly and selectively doped Si:Er layers with Er concentration up to 5×10$\text{}^{18}$ cm$\text{}^{-3}$. The Hall concentration of electrons is about 10% of total Er contents. The mobility is 300-400 cm$\text{}^{2}$ V$\text{}^{-1}$ s$\text{}^{-1}$ at 300 K. All samples exhibit photoluminescence at 1.537 μm up to 100-140 K.

Opis:
Intraband absorption in n- and p-doped structures with InAs/GaAs quantum dots covered by InGaAs layers is studied both experimentally and theoretically. The absorption cross-section for p-type quantum dots was found to be significantly smaller than that for n-type quantum dots. Interband absorption bleaching under strong interband excitation is found and investigated in undoped quantum dot structures. Structures with artificial molecules were grown. Photoluminescence spectra and transmission electron microscopy images proves the presence of coupled symmetrical quantum dots.

Opis:
Methods to modify gate dielectrics of MIS structures by irradiation treatments and high-field electron injection into dielectric are considered. In addition, distinctive features of these methods used to correct parameters of MIS devices are studied. It was found out that negative charge, accumulating in the thin film of phosphosilicate glass (PSG) of the MIS structure having a two-layer gate dielectric SiO_2-PSG under the high-field injection or during the irradiation treatment can be used to correct the threshold voltage to improve the charge stability and raise the voltage of breakdown for the MIS devices. It is proved that the density of electron traps rises with the increasing thickness of the PSG film. In this paper a method to modify electrophysical characteristics of MIS structures by the high-field tunnel injection of electrons into the gate dielectric under the mode of controlled current stress is proposed. The method allows to monitor changing of MIS structure parameters directly during the modification process.

A clinical prototype of the laser optoacoustic imaging system (LOIS) for breast cancer detection with 32-element transducer array is described. The frequency band of transducer array provided 0.5-mm axial in-depth resolution. Cylindrical shape of the 10-cm long array enabled us to receive the lateral resolution of 1.0 mm in the vicinity of focal zone. The system sensitivity provided detection of a 2-mm absorbing sphere at the depth of 60mm. An automatic recognition of the optoacoustic signal detected from the irradiated surface was implemented in order to visualize the breast surface and improve the accuracy of tumor localization. Radial back-projection algorithm was used for image reconstruction. Optimal filtering of image was employed to reduce low and high frequency noise. Time necessary for data acquisition and image reconstruction was reduced to 32 sec. The system performance was evaluated initially by imaging of the small absorbing objects in breast tissue-like phantoms. Clinical ex-vivo studies of mastectomy specimens were performed and compared with X-ray radiography and ultrasound.

Opis:
Methods of modification of gate dielectrics of the MOS structures by high-field electron injection and arc plasma jet treatment were studied. It is possible to use them for correction of parameters, decreasing defects number and increasing reliability of MOS devices. It was found that the negative charge accumulated in the film of the phosphorus-silicate glass of the MOS structures with the two-layer gate dielectric SiO₂-phosphorus-silicate glass under the high-field electron injection can be used for modification of devices with the same structures. It is shown that the injection-thermal treatment allows to find and exclude MOS structures with defects of isolation and charge defects. Arc plasma jet treatment was found to improve characteristics of the MOS devices. These treatments increase injection and radiation resistance of the gate dielectric by creating the needed density of electron traps in the bulk of SiO₂ film.

Opis:
The influence of injection-thermal and plasma treatments on the characteristics of the MOS-structure is studied. It is shown that the thermal stable part of the negative charge which accumulates in the phosphorus-silicate glass (PSG) film in the structures with the two-layer gate dielectric $SiO_2$-PSG under high-field Fowler-Nordheim electron injection can be used for the characteristics modification of MOS-structures with above described structure. The injection-thermal and plasma treatments of MOS-structures are offered to use for improving the reliability and finding the samples which have the charge defects. It is found that using the injection-thermal and plasma treatments allows to increase the injection and radiation stability of the dielectric films of MOS-structures due to structural changes in the $SiO_2$ film and $Si-SiO_2$ interface.

This paper presents the results of applying a new iterative method to linear and nonlinear fractional partial differential equations in fluid mechanics. A numerical analysis was performed to find an exact solution of the fractional wave equation and fractional Burgers’ equation, as well as an approximate solution of fractional KdV equation and fractional Boussinesq equation. Fractional derivatives of the order are described using Caputo's definition with 01<α≤ or 12<α≤. A comparative analysis of the results obtained using a new iterative method with those obtained by the Adomian decomposition method showed the first method to be more efficient and simple, providing accurate results in fewer computational operations. Given its flexibility and ability to solve nonlinear equations, the iterative method can be used to solve more complex linear and nonlinear fractional partial differential equations.

Opis:
In manufacture of facilities with permanent magnets there are some tasks when application of gauged magnitudes of magnetic characteristics of permanent magnets is required. In order to solve such tasks it is necessary to develop the methods of partial demagnetizing. Within an impulse magnetic field it is carried out at the expense of feeding series of impulses of demagnetizing field. For monitoring a level of a magnet field the carrying force P of the permanent magnet may be used. The choice of the law of impulse forming depends on the set requirements in an exactitude and productivity of the partial demagnetizing process. Process of partly demagnetizing assumes one-side approximation to a certain value of magnetization along the magnetizing curve, beginning from the maximal value, without operations of partly magnetic bias of the permanent magnet when its magnetization decreased below the given level. Comparing the different laws of forming impulses is made using mathematical modeling of the partial demagnetizing process, based on real characteristics of permanent magnets.
W wyrobie produktów z magnesami trwałymi zachodzi konieczność stosowania określonych charakterystyk magnetycznych. W tym celu konieczne jest opracowanie metod częściowego odmagnesowania przez powodowanie szeregu impulsów pola odmagnesowującego. Dla obserwowania poziomu pola magnetycznego można użyć siłę nośną P magnesu trwałego. Wybór prawa, formowanie impulsu zależy od zadanych wymagań odnośnie dokładności i skuteczności procesu odmagnesowania. Proces częściowego odmagnesowania zakłada przybliżenie pewnej wartości namagnesowania wzdłuż krzywej magnesowania zaczynając od wartości maksymalnej bez działania częściowego magnetycznego magnesowania wstępnego magnesu trwałego gdy namagnesowanie maleje poniżej danego poziomu. Porównanie różnych praw formowania impulsów wykonuje się stosując modelowanie matematyczne procesu odmagnesowania, w oparciu o rzeczywiste charakterystyki magnesów trwałych.
