Opis:
Recently, many research efforts have been made to reduce the magnesium content in the phosphate concentrate to meet the requirement for phosphoric acid production and other applications. A bioprocessing technique is among these efforts. However, this paper was devoted to study the use of cellulase enzyme as a new phosphate depressant during fatty acid flotation of a calcareous phosphate rock. The flotation behavior of collophane and dolomite as single minerals using oleic acid as a collector and cellulase enzyme as the phosphate depressant was investigated in details. The results from single mineral flotation tests were discussed based on FTIR and zeta potential measurements to find out the mechanism of cellulase depression of phosphate. The findings from the single minerals tests were used to develop a selective flotation process for recovery of phosphate minerals from the natural phosphate ore. The flotation experiments were carried out to apply this new process using the calcareous phosphate ore. Under the optimum flotation conditions, 0.04% cellulase and 0.5 mM oleic acid, a phosphate concentrate containing 0.89% MgO with a P2O5 recovery of 75% was obtained from the phosphate ore containing 2.2% MgO.

Chromium low alloyed steel substrate was subjected to aluminizing by hot dipping in pure aluminium and Al-Si eutectic alloy at 750°C and 650°C respectively, for dipping time up to 45 minutes. The coated samples were subjected for investigation using an optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. Cyclic thermal oxidation test was carried out at 500°C for 72 hours to study the oxidation behaviour of hot-dipped aluminized steel. Electrochemical corrosion behavior was conducted in 3wt. %NaCl aqueous solution at room temperature. The cyclic thermal oxidation resistance was highly improved for both coating systems because of the formation of a thin protective oxide film in the outermost coating layer. The gain in weight was decreased by 24 times. The corrosion rate was decreased from 0.11 mmpy for uncoated specimen to be 2.9 x10-3 mmpy for Aluminum coated steel and 5.7x 10-3 mmpy for Al-Si eutectic coated specimens. The presence of silicon in hot dipping molten bath inhabit the growth of coating intermetallic layers, decrease the total coating thickness and change the interface boundaries from tongue like shape to be more regular with flatter interface. Two distinct coating layers were observed after hot dipping aluminizing in Al bath, while three distinct layers were observed after hot dipping in Al-Si molten bath.

Opis:
The importance of trade liberalization in altering country’s ecological condition is a very important topic these days; the current examination seeks to study the empirical association between environmental degradation and trade openness in a panel of ASEAN countries. In doing so, the study seeks to analyze the influence of trade liberalization in impacting carbon dioxide emanations in the countries of Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Philippine by utilizing advanced methods of panel Dynamic Ordinary Least Square (DOLS) and Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square (FMOLS). The results confirm that all the variables stationary features at the first differential series. Furthermore, the results of bootstrap cointegration, Pedroni, and Kao cointegration check that all the variables are cointegrated in the long term. Finally, the outcomes suggested that trade liberalization has a significant positive impact on carbon dioxide emission. The outcomes confirm that the more theenhance in the liberalization of trade cause the poor environmental condition. Therefore, the study recommends that the government need to enhance trade based on renewable and green technology. Also, the government can adopt a green transportation system such as hybrid vehicles for the logistics and shipping the good from one place to another place.

Opis:
The effects of sublethal concentrations of spinosad (Tracer®) on development, fecundity, and food utilization, in the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) were investigated. The fourth-instar larvae were fed on castor bean leaves treated with LC25 (13.9 ppm) or LC50 (57.8 ppm) of spinosad. Pupation and pupal weight were significantly reduced in both LC25 and LC50 treatments, compared with those of the controls. The fecundity rates of females in either LC25 or LC50 treatment were also reduced, compared with the controls. The residual activity of spinosad, applied on cotton at labeled field- and subfield-rates (200 and 70 g active substance (a.s.)/ 200 l water, respectively), was examined against the fifth-instar larvae of S. littoralis. Feeding deterrent effects were significantly demonstrated in larvae that fed on leaves collected from field plots with residual deposits of spinosad at 3 and 7 days old after application (DAA). The residual activity of spinosad on feeding and other metabolic parameters was decreased after 21 DAA indicating that the chemical started to degrade under field conditions. A histological study on midgut from larvae that previously fed on leaves treated with a concentration corresponding to the labeled-field rate of spinosad showed some alterations occurred after 48 and 96 h of treatment, compared to the normal midgut from the controls. The histological alterations included degeneration in the epithelial lining of the midgut and in the peritrophic matrix. Such histopathological effects are presumed to be responsible for the reduction in growth and food utilization caused by spinosad. It is, therefore, concluded that spinosad has sublethal effects on S. littoralis that may affect population dynamics in the field via reductions in survival and reproduction.

Opis:
In this study, the groundwater quality and spatial distribution of the Basra province in the south of Iraq was assessed and mapped for drinking and irrigation purposes. Groundwater samples (n = 41) were collected from deep wells in the study area to demonstrate, estimate and model the Water Quality Index (WQI). The analysis of water samples integrated with GIS-based IDW technique was used to express the spatial variation in the study area with consideration of WQI. The physicochemical parameters, including pH, sodium (Na+), electrical conductivity (EC), chloride (Cl-), total dissolved solids (TDS), calcium (Ca2+), nitrate (NO3-), sulfate (SO42-), magnesium (Mg2+), and bicarbonate (HCO3-) were identified for groundwater quality assessment. The results of calculated WQI classify groundwater into three sorts. The results of WQI showed that 2.5%, 2.5% and 95% of the groundwater samples were classified as poor/very poor/unsuitable for drinking, respectively. The GIS tools integrated with statistical techniques are utilized for spatial distribution and description of water quality. Correlation analysis of groundwater data revealed that some parameters have actually a relationship that is strong with the other parameters and they share a common source of origin. Multivariate statistical techniques, especially cluster analysis (CA) and factor analysis (FA), were applied for the evaluation of spatial variations of forty-one selected groundwater samples. Cluster analysis confirmed that some different locations of wells have comparable sourced elements of water pollution, whereas factor analysis yielded three factors which are accountable for groundwater quality variations, clarifying more than 72% of the total variance of the data and permitted to group the preferred water quality. MultiLayer Perceptron (MLP) models were applied in modeling the water quality index. Comparing different result values of the MLP network suggested that the values of MSE and r for the selected model are 0.1940 and 0.9998, respectively. Finally, it can be revealed that the MLP network precisely predicted the output, i.e. the WQI values.

This research characterizes a natural zeolitic-rich tuff from Yemen (Al-Ahyuq area) and its potential in environmental applications. A total of 40 zeolite samples of Al-Ahyuq area were selected and fully characterized by a variety technique to obtain the mineralogical and physicochemical parameters. Our results show that the purities of zeolite minerals range from 78 to ~100% zeolite. Clinoptilolite and mordenite are the major mineral zeolite whereas heulandite and stilbite occur in minor amounts present in the zeolite deposit. Accessory minerals include quartz, illite, mica, feldspar, kaolinite, and smectite. In addition, the chemical compositions of Al-Ahyuq zeolitic tuffs are found to be comparable with other zeolites compositions of high economic value in the world. Moreover, its environment application was also discussed in this paper.

Opis:
Rotating machinery plays a significant role in industrial applications and covers a wide range of mechanical equipment. A vibration analysis using signal processing techniques is generally conducted for condition monitoring of rotary machinery and engineering structures in order to prevent failure, reduce maintenance cost and to enhance the reliability of the system. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is amongst the most substantial non-linear and non-stationary signal processing techniques and it has been widely utilized for fault detection in rotary machinery. This paper presents the EMD, time waveform and power spectrum density (PSD) analysis for localized spur gear fault detection. Initially, the test model was developed for the vibration analysis of single tooth breakage of spur gear at different RPMs and then specific fault was introduced in driven gear under different damage conditions. The data, recorded by means of a wireless tri-axial accelerometer, was then analyzed using EMD and PSD techniques and the results were plotted. The results depicted that EMD algorithms are found to be more functional than the ordinarily used PSD and time waveform techniques.

Opis:
At the Hospital de l'Amitié, hospital waste corresponds to a mixture of waste assimilated to household waste and the waste from healthcare activities with infectious risks. In the context of hospital hygiene, the conducted study focuses on the impact of this hospital waste on the people of the Hospital de l'Amitié and the environment, and their handling of hospital waste (collection and transport). From an environmental point of view, the physico-chemical characterization of the leachate leaving submerged waste in three media (drinking water, distilled water and alcoholic distilled water) show high concentrations for most of the parameters studied. Physico-chemical characterization of solid waste from Hospital de l'Amitié in Nouakchott (Mauritania) was carried out from September to December 2020. The objective was to determine the value of 14 parameters (pH, temperature, turbidity, electrical conductivity, COD, BOD5, COD/BOD5, BOD5/COD, SS/BOD5, SS, nitrite, nitrate, sulfate and phosphorus), and improve the treatment method for this solid waste by immersing it in three different mediums (drinking water, distilled water and alcoholic distilled water). Among the 14 parameters, seven exceeded the Moroccan and WHO standards for medium 1, 2 and 3 respectively, conductivity (5340.00 μs/cm, 5820.00 μs/cm and 3550.00 μs/cm), BOD5 (122.00 mg/L, 106.00 mg/L and 142.00 mg/L), BOD5/COD (2.30, 1.93 and 2.88), SS (1000.00 mg/L, 600.00 mg/L and 600.00 mg/L), nitrite (0.91 mg/L, 25.00 mg/L and 45.00 mg/L), nitrate (210.00 mg/L, 200.00 mg/L and 110.00 mg/L) and sulfate (1000.00 mg/L, 2000.00 mg/L and 1000.00 mg/L). These results indicate the existence of toxic substances in these leachates that may impact the environment. In addition, the study proposes solid waste treatment from the Hospital de l'Amitié in Nouakchott (Mauritania) before its discharge into the natural environment. This observation is consolidated by the analyses carried out on the leachate of the waste immersed in three aqueous media (drinking water, distilled water and alcoholic distilled water).
