Opis:
Background Nurses constitute a crucial professional group within the healthcare system. Job satisfaction and opportunities for professional development directly impact the quality of medical services provided and help prevent burnout. The study aimed to assess the preferred career model, the level of job satisfaction, and determine the type of work-related behavior presented by Polish nurses. Material and Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 795 nurses after the COVID-19 pandemic. Three standardized scales were used: My Career questionnaire to access the preferred career model, the Job Satisfaction Scale, and Work‑Related Behavior and Experience Patterns (Arbeitsbesorgenes Verhaltens und Erlebenmuster – AVEM) questionnaire assessing types of work-related behavior. Descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression were used for analysis of data. Results The results concerning the relationship between the types of work-related behavior, job satisfaction, and the preferred career model revealed that type G (healthy) was significantly and positively correlated (p < 0.05, r > 0) with the Challenge subscale of the career model (r = 0.095, p = 0.007) and job satisfaction (r = 0.136, p < 0.001). The higher the score on the Challenge subscale and greater job satisfaction, the more pronounced type G personality. The multiple linear regression models explained only 2.5 to 5% of the variability of studied questionnaire outcomes but indicated that significant, independent predictors for the My Career questionnaire subscales and AVEM raw scales for each type were additional qualifications, level of education, work experience, and place of work. Significant predictors of the job satisfaction scale were employment in private healthcare facilities and a master’s degree. Conclusions Nurses experience job satisfaction, but the workload, demanding daily tasks, and the sense of responsibility can lead them to feel fatigued and burnt out. The preferred career model involves Security and Stability, as well as Service and Commitment to other domains. Only a small percentage of the variability in the results of the analyzed dependent variables was explained by the explanatory variables included in the model.

Opis:
Introduction. A severe epidemic of lifestyle diseases, including obesity, is now one of the biggest problems of modern medicine. This is a medical problem, social and economic. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of selected perinatal and environmental factors on the prevalence of overweight and obesity in preschool children located in the Subcarpathian region. Materials and methods. The survey was conducted in 2012, it included 200 children between the ages of 3 to 6 years (87 boys and 113 girls) from kindergartens. In children, weight loss was measured on an electronic balance and their height was also measured on medical scale. Obesity was determined on the basis of criteria developed by the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF). Results. The prevalence of overweight and obesity among preschool children was found in 3-year-olds (6.4%), 4-year- olds (11.3%), 5-year-olds (17.7%), and 6-year-olds (20.7%). Conclusions. Body weight and mother’s BMI are factors that significantly increase the risk of obesity among children aged 3–6. Additionally, in boys, a risk factor is also the birth body length.
Materiał i metoda. Wyniki. Nadwagę i otyłość stwierdzono u 6,4% 3-latków, 11,3% 4 -latków, 17,7% 5-latków i 20,7% 6-latków. Wnioski. Czynnikiem znamiennie zwiększającym ryzyko otyłości wśród dzieci w wieku 3–6 lat jest masa ciała matki i wskaźnik BMI matki. Dodatkowo u chłopców czynnikiem zwiększającym ryzyko jest urodzeniowa długość ciała.

Aim: The aim of the study was to perform an analytical evaluation of body composition and selected lipid parameters in a population of healthy children. Material and methods: The study included a group of 81 children (44 boys and 37 girls, mean age 11.56 ± 2.84 years) participating in a research project in the Centre for Medical and Natural Sciences Research and Innovation in Rzeszow. Body composition measurement (TANITA BC-420 S MA) and lipid profile assessment (Cholestech LDX) were performed in all patients. Statistical analysis of the collected material was conducted with Statistica 10.0 (StatSoft). Parametric and nonparametric tests were used for statistical analysis of variables. The level of statistical significance was adopted at p < 0.05. Results: A statistically significant difference in fat mass (p < 0.001), fat-free mass (p = 0.003), muscle mass (p = 0.003) and total body water (p < 0.001) was observed between children with normal body weight and overweight or obese children. A significant positive impact of FM (R = 0.09; p = 0.416) and a negative impact of total body water (R = −0.40; p < 0.001) on triglyceride parameters was demonstrated. Additionally, reduced fat mass correlated with a significant increase in high-density lipoprotein (R = −0.29; p = 0.009). Conclusions: The study demonstrated differences in the selected components of body composition in a population of healthy children, which allowed to precisely monitor the nutritional status when correlated with the results of lipid profile.
Materiał i metoda: Badaniami objęto grupę 81 dzieci (44 chłopców i 37 dziewcząt; średnia wieku 11,56 ± 2,84 roku) uczestniczących w projekcie badawczym w Przyrodniczo-Medycznym Centrum Badań Innowacyjnych w Rzeszowie. U każdego dziecka wykonano pomiar składu masy ciała (analizator TANITA BC-420 S MA) i ocenę profilu lipidowego (Cholestech LDX).

Opis:
Introduction. Obesity in children and adolescents is a growing problem in the 21st century. The epidemic of chronic non-communicable diseases resulting from obesity is currently one of the biggest problems of modern medicine. Excessive body weight is the result of a long-lasting imbalance between the amount of energy supplied and its expenditure. Energy regulation of the body is subject to both genetic and environmental factors. Among other things, due to this, the problem of excessive body weight is most severe in societies with a high degree of socio-economic development. The aim of this paper is to determine the influence of selected environmental and social factors on the occurrence of overweight and obesity in pre-school children. Material and methods. The study included pre-school children from south-eastern Poland. After obtaining the consent from parents, 200 children (87 boys, 113 girls) aged 3 to 6 years were examined. A questionnaire used for the research was derived from the program: European Pilot Study Evaluating the Influence of Local Promotional Activities on Prevention of Obesity in Pre-school Children. In the subjects, body weight was measured on an electronic scale three times and the body height was measured three times using a stadiometer. Obesity was determined according to the criteria developed by the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF). Results. The prevalence of overweight and obesity among children amounted to 6.4% in 3-year-olds, 11.3% in 4-year-olds, 17.7% in 5-year-olds, and 20.7% in 6-year-olds. A factor significantly increasing the risk of obesity among the examined girls and boys was the mother’s BMI index. Conclusion. Although knowledge about the factors that promote overweight and obesity is common, it is still a common health problem. Particular attention should be paid to the prevention of obesity in children of parents with a BMI above 30 kg m2. Early maternal education can change the lifestyle of the whole family.

Opis:
Reklamowaną żywność stanowiły głównie przekąski i produkty typu fast-food, o wysokiej zawartości tłuszczów i cukru.
Obesity among children and adolescents is a growing health problem in the twenty-first century. The marketing of energydense nutrient-low foods via television advertising likely affects consumer choice. Successful advertising can give added value to products and may influence the viewer’s perception regarding the nutritional value and energy content of the advertised food. The aim of the study was to analyze the caloric content of all food-products advertised to children on three television stations. Methods: All programmes broadcast on three television channels (TVP1; Polsat and Cartoon Network) were recorded on four days of each week for a 24-hour period. Advertisements were analyzed to determine the number of food. The advertised products were then purchased and the calorific value was recorded. Results: The average caloric value of advertising for children ranged from 1700 kcal per day on the Cartoon Network to 33000 kcal per day on Polsat TV. The main ads targeting children were for snack and fast-food products with high levels of fat and sugar and an average caloric value of 500 kcal per 100g. Conclusions: TV advertising aimed at child viewers promotes mainly energy-dense and nutrient-poor products. The promotion of such products may have an impact on consumer behavior and in turn influence the intake of excessive calories.

Introduction. Healthy nutrition is very important during pregnancy for both a baby and a mother. Modification of metabolic and hormonal processes i.e. metabolic programming occurs already at the prenatal stage. This process significantly affects the baby’s health and eating habits at a later age. The diet of a pregnant woman should supplement the demand for energy, nutrients, vitamins and minerals. An expecting woman needs to also avoid products that are contraindicated during this period, such as raw milk, eggs or meat. Aim. Assessment of nutritional behavior of pregnant women from the Podkarpacie province. Materials and method. 228 women living in the Podkarpackie province were enrolled in the study. Surveys were collected via the Internet. An anonymous questionnaire developed by the authors was used. Results. Women’s eating habits are primarily influenced by education. Most women had knowledge about proper nutrition and awareness of its impact on the health of the baby. A worrying fact was a very low intake of dairy products. 44% of women consumed dairy products only once a day. Fruit and vegetables consumption was also low (40% of the respondents ate only from 100 to 200 g during the day). Conclusions. Although part of the eating habits of pregnant women is correct, nutritional education should be introduced in this group, especially related to the adequate supply of dairy products, fruit and vegetables to supplement the necessary vitamins, minerals and protein.

Introduction. In recent years there has been a significant increase in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in humans. It turns out that the problem is not limited to adults; excessive body weight is occurring in children more often. Aim. The main purpose of this work was to determine the prevalence of overweight and obesity in preschool children from the Rzeszów district, and to determine risk factors for occurrence. Materials and survey method. The study was conducted among 200 preschool children (3 - 6 years of age) from the Rzeszów poviat area. Measurements of height, weight, and determination of BMI were performed and these values are standardized according to the WHO centile grids appropriate for each age group. Survey results. Normal weight was observed in 58% of the respondents, 11% were overweight, and 10.5% were obese, whereas 20.5% of children had undernourishment. Obese children were the largest group among 6-year-olds. Among 4 year old children, abnormal body weight were more frequent in boys. On the other hand, in children aged 5 years, undernourishment or overweight was found more frequently in girls. Conclusions. The study did not confirm a significant relationship between gender, place of residence and socio-economic situation of respondents, and the prevalence of overweight or obesity. The results of this study indicate that the problem of excessive body weight refers to the increasing number of children.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in restrictions in most countries. One of them was to replace traditional education in schools with online learning. Such a change could provoke a build-up of negative feelings due to insecurity and loneliness. In addition, reducing daily physical activity and closing sports venues can have a detrimental effect on health. The article presents the results of the study of the impact of distance learning on the daily physical activity and condition of physical education teachers in Poland, as well as the subjective perception of physical and mental health in this professional group. Google forms were used to collect the data. The research tool was a questionnaire. The analysis showed that distance learning had a significant negative impact on the physical and mental health of the study group. The impact of distance learning on physical and mental health is gender independent. Teachers more often negatively assessed their physical and mental health compared to the studies in previous years. Daily physical activity of the subjects decreased, and most of them increased their body weight. Less than 3% of the surveyed teachers during the blockade felt happy and full of life.
