Opis:
Manufacturing of aircraft engine turbine blades requires control of blade geometric parameters at different stages of technological process. Acceleration and automation of measurement process can affect the duration of the finished item production. Modern technologies for measurement of aircraft engine turbine blades are based on numerical machines - measurement process is based on processing of numerical data obtained by measurement using coordinate measuring machines. The paper presents the opportunity of automation of aircraft engine turbine blades measurements using scanner ATOS II Triple Scan with blue light source technology. Coordinate measuring technique allows to specify full methodology for designation of complex dimensions of physical objects and transform them into a computer program space of coordinate measuring devices. Presented paper includes capabilities of device used in the study to improve the measurement process in the technological and economical aspects. Another issue described in the paper is impact of measurement performance in automatic mode on the quality of performance – the numerical model of surface, from the standpoint of accuracy and number of collected data points in time. The paper includes an analysis of conditions related to the measurement works, such as the process of preparing the model, measurement equipment and data processing capacity. As the result methodology for automated scanning measurements of aircraft engine turbine blades will be presented.

The article presents a computer-aided method of diagnostics of gas turbine blades with use of artificial neural networks. The subject of presentation is the developed neural network, with help of which – on the basis of features of blade surface images – realised is determination of their condition (operable element – inoperable element). Basing on conclusions formulated on the basis of microstructure examinations and concerning evaluation of state of overheating (blades suitable and not suitable for further operation), as patterns assumed were surface images representing blades in various states (neural pattern classification). Additionally, combining and segregating (according to their applicability for the network teaching process) image parameters, acquired from histograms as well as from matrix of events, automated and increased was the credibility (computer aiding) of decision process. The application of artificial neural network enables better representation of complex relations between blade image and its condition, than in the case of subjective methods used currently by diagnosticians.

The microstructure of as-cast cored turbine blades roots, made of the single-crystal CMSX-4 nickel-based superalloy was investigated. Analysed blades were obtained by directional solidification technique in the industrial ALD Bridgman induction furnace. The investigations of the microstructure of blades roots were performed using SEM and X-ray techniques including diffraction topography with the use of Auleytner method. Characteristic shapes of dendrites with various arrangement were observed on the SEM images taken from the cross-sections, made transversely to the main blades axis. The differences in quality of the structure in particular areas of blades roots were revealed. Based on the results, the influence of cooling bores on blades root structure was analysed and the changes in the distribution and geometry of cooling bores were proposed.

Opis:
Deep understanding on the impacts of leading edge erosion on the performance and flow characteristics of wind turbines is significant for the blade design and wind farms manage- ment. Pitting erosion and three levels of delamination are considered in the present study. The results show that the degrees of leading edge erosion have great influence on the flow separation, tangential force coefficient, normal force coefficient as well as the power output of the wind turbine. Leading edge erosion has the greatest impact on aerodynamics of the wind turbine at 15m/s, where the maximum loss in the power output can reach up to 73.26%.

A gas turbine is one of the most heavily loaded, both mechanically and thermally, structural components of an aircraft turbine engine. Hence, the most common reasons for failure are overheating and thermal fatigue of the blade material. It is of great significance for the safety of aeronautical systems that service is monitored; this is carried out to verify the health of these items using all available diagnostic methods. The primary aim is to detect and identify, as early as possible, any probable hazards to the engine. The preliminary assessment of the gas turbine blades condition is carried out via a visual inspection e.g. using a video borescope. During any repair, the preliminary assessment is conducted with a visual method, which is followed with some other non-destructive inspection techniques, e.g. flaw detection, intended to provide full colour images. The essential assessment of the blade condition consists in metallographic examination which precludes further operational use of the item. Probable errors in this assessment usually result in considerable cost of unnecessary repairs of the entire engine. Presented in the paper is the pulse thermography technique being a new NDT method, which is capable of diagnosing changes in the blade condition and to detect early stages of damages to turbine blades. Results of inspections of the blades subjected to high temperature and corresponding changes in signals of thermal response of the blade material stimulated with a heat pulse have also been given. Effects of the testing work have been used to detect changes, against temperature, in thermophysical properties of super alloy used in gas turbine blades. The results have been successfully verified using metallographic examination. To conclude: the thermographic method provides good reliability of the assessment of changes in the microstructure of the blade.

This paper presents method for the unconventional machining of the blades of steam turbines. Blade material as steel X12Cr13 was chosen into the investigation. Blade failures in gas turbine engines often lead to loss of all downstream stages and can have a dramatic effect on the availability of the turbine engines.. Conventional machining of the roots of steam turbine blades causes high temperature and rapid wear of tool which makes machining expensive WEDM is currently regarded among the most popular non-conventional machining. WEDM allows treatment of hard, brittle materials and composite, irrespective of their structure (thin-wall components) and mechanical properties. Submitted work is an analysis of potential impact on the received thickness of heat affected zone by appropriate heat treatment of material prior to WEDM. Such action is intended to eliminate or reduce the initiating impact of any microcracks on the formation of surface defects on the turbine blades roots during operation. The aim of the article is to replace the traditional methods of machining the blades roots by WEDM and thus the elimination of problems such as the need to monitor the tool wear. The presented experimental study was carried out on a modern wire EDM Sodick AQ327L. Investigated were the effects of WEDM of X12Cr13 steel as the Heat Affected Zone, the micro-fractures and surface roughness parameters.

In order to guarantee reliable and safe operation of avionic turbo engine their components and subassemblies are subjected to regular inspections and maintenance. The most frequent reasons for failures of the engines include overheating of materials, thermal fatigue of blades and vanes in the jet subassembly as well as the gas turbine rotor. Failures of that type lead to faulty operation of the engine and sometimes to accidents with disastrous consequences. The decision to have the engine repaired is taken by maintenance personnel that chiefly employ the method of visual inspection with use of a videoscope. However, such examination of turbine components is burdened by a subjective approach. To improve reliability and trustworthiness of the examinations results it is necessary to enable objective and unbiased evaluation of examination results. This paper outlines a non-destructive method that is suitable for evaluation of condition demonstrated by gas turbine blades and is based on digital processing of images acquired from the blade surface in visible light. To enable high clearness of these images the particular attention is paid to the problem of how to provide optimum conditions for investigations and mitigate geometrical distortions of images acquired from maintenance operations. The paper demonstrates that there are relationships between operation lifetime of blades and discoloration of their surfaces due to overheating of the blade material. These relationships are revealed by digital analysis of images acquired for the blade surfaces and expressed as statistical parameter of the first and second order. To improve unambiguity of the analysis results a low-pass filter was applied. It was demonstrated that these relationships are suitable for evaluation how much the status of the blade material microstructure is altered. Results from this study enable formulation of the conclusion that diagnostics of gas turbine blades through computer-aided analysis of images acquired from the blade surfaces may even be possible under field conditions with no downtime of the equipment under tests.

Turbocharger turbine blades suffer from periodic vibration and flow induced excitation. The blade vibration signal is a typical non-stationary and sometimes nonlinear signal that is often encountered in turbomachinery research and development. An example of such signal is the pulsating pressure and strain signals measured during engine ramp to find the maximum resonance strain or during engine transient mode in applications. As the pulsation signals can come from different disturbance sources, detecting the weak useful signals under a noise background can be difficult. For this type of signals, a novel method based on optimal parameters of Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (EEMD) and Teager Energy Operator (TEO) is proposed. First, an optimization method was designed for adaptive determining appropriate EEMD parameters for the measured vibration signal, so that the significant feature components can be extracted from the pulsating signals. Then Correlation Kurtosis (CK) is employed to select the sensitive Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs). In the end, TEO algorithm is applied to the selected sensitive IMF to identify the characteristic frequencies. A case of measured sound signal and strain signal from a turbocharger turbine blade was studied to demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed method.

Opis:
Structural components of gas turbines, particularly the blades, sustain a variety of damages during the operation process. The most frequent cause of these damages are the overheating and thermal fatigue of the material. A primary technique to assess condition of the blades is the metallographic examination. In spite of the fact that metallographic analysis delivers much more information on the structure of examined blade material, it is a type of destructive test resulting in the destruction of the blade which makes further utilization of the item impossible. The paper has been intended to discuss non-destructive testing methods and to present capabilities of applying them to diagnose objectively changes in the microstructure of a turbine blade with computer software engaged to assist with the analyses. The following techniques are discussed: a visual method, based on the processing of images of the material surface in visible light, active thermography, based on the detection of infrared radiation, and the X-ray computed tomography. All these are new non-destructive methods of assessing technical condition of structural components of machines. They have been intensively developed at research centers worldwide, and in Poland. The computer-aided visual method of analyzing images enables diagnosis of the condition of turbine blades, without the necessity of dismantling of the turbine. On the other hand, the active thermography and the X-ray computed tomography, although more sensitive and more reliable, can both be used with the blades dismounted from the turbine. If applied in a complex way, the non-destructive methods presented in this paper, are expected to increase significantly probability of detecting changes in the blade’s condition, which in turn would be advantageous to reliability and safety of gas turbine service.

Paper presents the results of research on modified surface grain refinement method used in investment casting of hollow, thin-walled parts made of nickel based superalloys. In the current technology, the refining inoculant is applied to the surface of the wax pattern and then, it is transferred to the ceramic mould surface during dewaxing. Because of its chemical activity the inoculant may react with the liquid metal which can cause defects on the external surface of the cast part. The method proposed in the paper aims to reduce the risk of external surface defects by applying the grain refiner only to the ceramic core which shapes the internal surface of the hollow casting. In case of thin-walled parts the grain refinement effect is visible throughout the thickness of the walls. The method is meant to be used when internal surface finish is less important, like for example, aircraft engine turbine blades, where the hollowing of the cast is mainly used to lower the weight and aid in cooling during operation.

The single crystal turbine blades made of CMSX-4 nickel-based superalloy were studied. The turbine blades were obtained by the Bridgman technique with withdrawal rate of 5 mm/min. The samples, cut-off from root part of blades and containing the fragment of the selector, were studied. The effect of selector geometry on the dendrites growth and defects formation in the selector-root area of the blade were analyzed. The Laue diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction topography were applied. It was found that, during crystallization of the selector, the dendrite cores, after reaching the surface of mould, may bend, if the angle between dendrite cores and the mould surface was equal to 12°. When the angle was equal to 24° the growth of dendrites has been stopped. It can be stated that the defects, which appeared in the selector were inherited by the root part.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane aspekty diagnostyki turbiny gazowej pod kątem oceny stanu łopatek pracujących w środowisku spalin. Zaprezentowano wyniki opracowywanej metody oceny stanu łopatek turbiny gazowej na podstawie przetwarzania i analizy obrazów ich powierzchni. Poruszono, także problematykę akwizycji obrazów za pomocą detektora światłoczułego - matrycy CCD w oparciu o fizyczne podstawy detekcji i rejestracji obrazów w zakresie widzialnym fali elektromagnetycznej. Za pomocą mikroskopu skaningowego, na zgładach metalograficznych, obserwowano mikrostrukturę superstopów (żarowytrzymałych i żaroodpornych). Dzięki czemu uzyskano dokładną informację dotyczącą zmian strukturalnych zarówno warstwy wierzchniej jaki i rdzenia łopatek powstałych w czasie eksploatacji. Na podstawie określonych związków i zależności pomiędzy zmianą barwy powierzchni łopatki turbiny gazowej, a zmianą mikrostruktury jej materiału, wskutek oddziaływania czynnika roboczego o wysokiej (nadkrytycznej) temperaturze możliwe będzie zwiększenie czułości i niezawodności diagnozowania stanu badanego obiektu technicznego. Ponadto przedstawiono metodę skanowania zarejestrowanych obrazów powierzchni łopatek eksploatowanych pod kątem określenia wielkości obszaru przegrzanego.
In this article presented are aspects chosen of diagnostics of gas turbine from the point of view of evaluation of condition of working blades, working in specified environment. Presented are results of the prepared method of the evaluation of turbine blade condition on the grounds of processing and analysis of images of their surface. In addition, raised is the problem of data acquisition with the use of photoelectric light sensor (matrix CCD) by showing the physical basis of detection and recording images in a visible range of electromagnetic wave. The microstructure of superalloys (high-temperaturecreep resisting and heat-resisting alloys) was tested on the special preparation of metallographic with the aid of scanning microscope. Thanks to these investigations, accurate information about microstructure changes of surface layer as well as core blade during operating process, was obtained. Change of colour of blade turbine surface and change of microstructure of its material, as a result of working factor such as high temperature (supercritical temperature) it would be possible to increase sensitivity and reliability of diagnostics of operational state of tested technical object. Moreover, the method of surface scanning of recorded images of turbine operational blades with a view to evaluation of overheated area was presented.

The paper concerns the engineering design of guide vane and runner blades of hydraulic turbines using the inverse problem on the basis of the definition of a velocity hodograph, which is based on Wu’s theory [1, 2]. The design concerns the low-head double-regulated axial Kaplan turbine model characterized by a very high specific speed. The three-dimensional surfaces of turbine blades are based on meridional geometry that is determined in advance and, additionally, the distribution of streamlines must also be defined. The principles of the method applied for the hydraulic turbine and related to its conservation equations are also presented. The conservation equations are written in a curvilinear coordinate system, which adjusts to streamlines by means of the Christoffel symbols. This leads to significant simplification of the computations and generates fast results of three-dimensional blade surfaces. Then, the solution can be found using the method of characteristics. To assess usefulness of the design and robustness of the method, numerical and experimental investigations in a wide range of operations were carried out. Afterwards, the so-called shell characteristics were determined by means of experiments, which allowed to evaluate the method for application to the low-head (1.5 m) Kaplan hydraulic turbine model with the kinematic specific speed (»260). The numerical and experimental results show the successful usage of the method and it can be concluded that it will be useful in designing other types of Kaplan and Francis turbine blades with different specific speeds.

The article presents selected problems in the synthesis of the database of expert diagnostic system of gas turbine blades in the field of non-destructive testing. The source of data is optical methods and computed tomography methods. Optical tests can be carried out on the blades of the turbine built in the engine and after their disassembly. Optical tests provide diagnostic information in the form of an image of the blade surface. This makes it possible to identify damage based on changes in the attributes of the image of the blade surface. Computer tomography methods are applied on disassembled blades. Assessment of the technical condition of the blade is made on the basis of individual two-dimensional X-ray scans or on the basis of a three-dimensional image of the blade generated by the computer software from the set of X-ray scans taken during the full angle rotation. The computed tomography data set includes a small number of points on the timeline of operation; hence, the correlation of results with optical methods is difficult. Integration of diagnostic data from two or more sources into one expert system requires standardization of data. One possible approach is the use of multi-valued encoding of 2D and 3D image attributes. In this way a multivalued diagnostic model of the blade is obtained, which can be processed by information theory methods to optimize the set of attributes.

The aim of this paper was to obtain information about optimum conditions of the forging process of a blade made from high-temperature creep resisting alloy called Inconel 718. A three-dimensional rigid-plastic finite element method (FEM) of forging process of high-pressure compressor rotor's blade analysis has been performed. Various forging process variants were analysed, including isothermal conditions.
Artykuł przedstawia wyniki pracy, której celem było uzyskanie informacji dotyczących optymalnych warunków kucia łopatki z żarowytrzymałego stopu Inconel 718. Przeprowadzono symulacje 3D kucia łopatki wirnika sprężarki wysokiego ciśnienia turbiny gazowej. Analizie poddano różne warianty procesu kucia z uwzględnieniem warunków izotermicznych.

In the paper the crystal structure of single crystal CMSX-4 blade casts, applied in high pressure turbine of aircraft engines was analyzed. The longitudinal section of blade, cast at withdrawal rate of 3 mm/min was used as a sample. During the conducted research, following X-ray diffraction methods were applied: EFG Ω-scan, Auleytner X-ray topography and analysis of diffraction reflex profile ("rocking curve"). The authors determined crystal orientation in entire blade casts on the basis of set criterion concerning values of angle α - deviation of [001] direction from the direction of cast withdrawal. Conclusions concerning the crystal structure quality of the blade were drawn based on results from three different research methods. Local changes in crystal orientation on the surface of blade cast, also areas with significant structure defect degree and the presence of internal stresses were characterized.

Technology of wind exploitation has been applied widely all over the world and has already reached the level in which manufacturers want to maximize the yield with the minimum investment outlays. The main objective of this paper is the determination of the optimal number of blades in the Cup-Bladed Vertical Axis Wind Turbine. Optimizing the size of the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine allow the reduction of costs and increase the output. The target is the maximum power of the rotor. The optimum number of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine blades evaluation is based on analysis of a single blade simulation and its superposition for the whole rotor. The simulation of working blade was done in MatLab environment. Power spectrum graphs were prepared and compared throughout superposition of individual blades in the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine rotor. Some wind tunnel measurements of the hydrodynamic force according to pitch angle of the blade are also shown. The major result of this research is the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine kmax ratiopower characteristic. On the basis of the analysis of the power spectra, optimum number of the blades was specified for the analysed rotor. Power spectrum analysis of wind turbine enabled the specification of the optimal number of blades, and can be used regarding investment outlays and power output of the Vertical Axis Wind Turbine.

The processes associated with operation of turbinę avionic engines entail the occurrence of various defects affecting turbine components, in particular turbine vanes. The main reasons for defects and deterioration of gas turbine vanes include thermal fatigue and overheating of the vane material. This paper outlines the non-destructive test methods that are currently in use and that are based on an analysis of surface images obtained from the examined parts within the visible bandwidth with the use of a ring-wedge detector. Particular attention is paid to opportunities that enable unbiased diagnostics of changes in the microscopic structure of vanes with the use of the non-destructive thermographic method. Initial examinations ofthe gas turbine vanes, both new ones and those already in operation, have demonstrated the existence of interrelations and dependency between the thermal strain during the turbine operation, changes of signals associated with the thermal response from the material and the condition of the vane microstructures. The results of these examinations have been successfully verified with the use of the metallographic method. The demonstrated interrelations and dependency shall serve as a basis to develop fundamentals for a non-destructive thermographic test method intended to assess the overheating condition of the material for gas turbine vanes.

The paper presents the effects of the application of an experimental impulse test as a method of diagnosis of the technical condition of an SO-3 engine turbine blade fitted in a TS-11 Iskra aircraft. The aim of the test was to investigate the frequency characteristics of the blades and discuss differences between the frequency spectrum of the investigated component before and after its damage. The acoustic response measurements were performed to the signal generated by an impact hammer on the fully functional and intentionally damaged blades. The recorded signals were converted from the domain of time to the domain of frequency using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The results of the FFT were the Frequency Response Functions (FRF) of the sound of the blades, based on which the statistical analysis of the resonance frequencies was carried out. The influence of the mechanical damage of the blade on the shape and characteristics of the frequency spectrum was confirmed, which substantiated the effectiveness of the impulse test in the diagnostic assessment of jet engine components.

With increasing technology development, an increasing emphasis is placed on the precision of products, but cannot be guaranteed without a stable production process. To ensure the stability of the production process, it is necessary to monitor it in detail, find its critical locations and eliminate or at least control it. With such a precise manufacturing method as investment casting, such a process is a must. This paper therefore deals with monitoring the production process of wax models of large turbine blades using infrared thermography. The aim was to evaluate the critical locations of this production and to propose recommendations for their elimination or, at the very least, significant mitigation of their impact on the final quality of the large turbine blade casting.

Turbine blades are flight safety parts in the jet engine. Therefore they should be characterized by very good mechanical properties, especially high creep resistance and fatigue strength at high temperature. The mechanical properties of blades made of nickel-based superalloys depend on the microstructure of the casting and its porosity [1,2]. The aim of this paper is evaluation of effect of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) on microstructure of blade airfoil made of IN713C superalloy in four important zones: (i) leading edge, (ii) trailing edge, (iii) suction side and (iv) pressure side. HIP treatment was carried out proving some significant microstructural changes. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) analysis reveals some structural changes what may facilitate diffusion processes leading to simplify of a heat treatment (solution treatment and aging).

The root of single-crystalline turbine blade made of CMSX-4 superalloy were studied. The studied blade was produced by the Bridgman technique in industrial ALD furnace at withdrawal rate of 3 mm/min. The samples for investigations were cut from the blade root parallel to the withdrawal direction. Metallographic sections of longitudinal samples planes were prepared for further investigations. The samples were analysed using scanning electron microscopy and the Laue diffraction studies. The crystal orientations in macro-scale were determined by analysis of the Laue pattern and local crystal orientations were studied by electron backscattered diffraction technique. Morphology of dendrites were examined by analysis of scanning electron microscopy macro-images. Study of subgrain structure was performed by X-ray diffraction topography. The sharp parallel contrast bands, visible on the X-ray topograms, were related with dendrite cores, arranged with the same direction. Additionally, the low angle boundaries were formed in certain samples, visible on the topograms as contrast shifts. Step changes of local crystal orientation in certain areas were observed on the electron backscattered diffraction maps. The electron backscattered diffraction crystal orientation maps were related to the misorientation visualized in topograms.

Opis:
Small deviations between turbine blades exist due to manufacturing tolerances or material inhomogeneities. This effect is called mistuning and usually causes increased vibration amplitudes and also a lower service life expectancy of bladed disks or so called blisks (bladed integrated disk). The major resulting problem is to estimate the maximum amplitude with respect to these deviations. Due to the probability distribution of these deviations, statistical methods are used to predict the maximum amplitude. State of the art is the Monte-Carlo simulation which is based on a high number of randomly re-arranged input parameters. The aim of this paper is to introduce a useful method to calculate the probability distribution of the maximum amplitude of a mistuned blisk with respect to the random input parameters. First, the applied reduction method is presented to initiate the sensitivity analysis. This reduction method enables the calculation of the frequency response function (FRF) of a Finite Element Model (FEM) in a reasonable calculation time. Based on the Taylor series approximation, the sensitivity of the vibration amplitude depending on normally distributed input parameters is calculated and therewith, it is possible to estimate the maximum amplitude. Calculating only a single frequency response function shows a good agreement with the results of over 1000 Monte-Carlo simulations.

The aim of this paper is an assessment of the influence of hot isostatic pressing treatment on porosity of cast samples - turbine blades and vane clusters made of the IN713C superalloy. Two variants of HIP treatments, differing in pressure from each other, have been used. The quantitative evaluation of the porosity was performed using light microscopy and quantitative metallography methods. The use of the hot isostatic pressing significantly decreased the volume fraction and size of pores in the test blades, the remaining pores after the HIP process being characterized by a round shape. The increased pressure has caused significant reductions in the area fraction and size of the pores.

The paper presents the research results of a microstructure of the turbine rotor blades made of nickel-based super alloys. The purpose of the research was to determine the high temperature impact on the microstructure stability of the material of the blades. The degree of advancement of the super alloy microstructure changes after the exposure to high temperature was compared to the mictrostructure condition of new blades. The research material includes blades made of EI 867 and ŻS 32 types of alloys. The microstructure research of blades subject to the high temperature impact, and the blades after operation showed the occurrence of adverse changes in relation to the microstructure of new blades. It was found that the cause of adverse changes in the microstructure was the super alloy overheating. The blade in such a condition has low heat and creep resistance. The element, in which the overheating will occur, is exposed to damage, which usually entails faulty turbine operation. This type of damage is removed during the engine major repair, which is associated with huge costs.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań mikrostruktury łopatek wirnika turbiny wykonanych z nadstopów na bazie niklu. Celem badań było określenie skutków oddziaływania wysokiej temperatury na stabilność mikrostruktury materiału łopatek. Stopień zaawansowania zmian mikrostruktury nadstopu po oddziaływaniu wysokiej temperatury porównywano ze stanem mikrostruktury łopatek nowych. Materiałem do badań były łopatki ze stopów typu EI 867 oraz ŻS 32. Badania mikrostruktury łopatek poddawanych oddziaływaniu wysokiej temperatury oraz łopatek po eksploatacji wykazały występowanie niekorzystnych zmian w stosunku do mikrostruktury łopatek nowych. Stwierdzono, że przyczyną niekorzystnych zmian w mikrostrukturze było przegrzanie nadstopu. Łopatka w takim stanie wykazuje niską żaroodporność oraz żarowytrzymałość. Element, w którym wystąpi przegrzanie jest narażony na uszkodzenie, co przeważnie pociąga za sobą wadliwą pracę turbiny. Tego typu uszkodzenia usuwa się w trakcie naprawy głównej silnika co wiąże się z ogromnymi kosztami.

One of the main achievements of the PLGrid Plus project is the implementation of new tools and services designed for the numerical prediction of the aerodynamic performance of wind energy turbines. An innovative and unique integration tool (Aero-T) is aiming at automating all stages (pre-, solution and post-processing) of the numerical simulation of the flow around wind turbine rotor blades using commercial CFD software based on the RANS approach and block-structured computational grids. The FINE/Turbo package (Numeca Int.) is applied in the structured grid generation process and solution phases, while the analysis of results is left to the Tecplot 360 (Tecplot Inc.) software. A demonstrator based on the NREL Phase VI rotor experiment (conducted at NASA Ames) is introduced to prove the excellent prediction capabilities of Aero-T.

W artykule przedstawiono metodę wspomagania komputerowego do diagnozowania łopatek turbiny gazowej z wykorzystaniem sztucznych sieci neuronowych. Głównym celem prezentacji jest opracowana sieć neuronowa, za pomocą której na podstawie cech obrazów powierzchni łopatek dokonuje się orzekania o ich stanie (element zdatny, element częściowo zdatny, element niezdatny). Opierając się na wnioskach sformułowanych na podstawie badań mikrostruktury, dotyczących oceny stopnia przegrzania (łopatki zdatne i niezdatne do dalszej eksploatacji), przyjęto jako wzorce obrazy powierzchni reprezentujące łopatki w różnych stanach (neuronowa klasyfikacja wzorcowa). Dodatkowo, wiążąc oraz segregując (wg ich przydatności w procesie uczenia sieci) parametry obrazów, uzyskane zarówno z histogramów jak i macierzy zdarzeń, zautomatyzowano i zwiększono wiarygodność (wspomaganie komputerowe) procesu decyzyjnego. Zastosowanie sztucznej sieci neuronowej umożliwia w większym stopniu odwzorowanie złożonych zależności pomiędzy obrazem łopatki a jej stanem, niż to realizuje diagnosta dotychczasową metodą subiektywną.
The article presents a computer - aided method of diagnostics of gas turbine blades with the use of artificial neural networks. The subject of presentation is the developed neural network, with the help of which - on the basis of features of blade surface images-their condition is determined (operable element, partly operable element, inoperable element). Basing on conclusions formulated on the basis of microstructure examinations and concerning evaluation of state of overheating (blades suitable and not suitable for further operation), as patterns assumed were surface images representing blades in various states (neural pattern classification). Additionally, combining and segregating (according to their applicability for the network teaching process) image parameters, acquired from histograms as well as from matrix of events, automated and increased was the credibility (computer aiding) of a decision process. The application of artificial neural network enables better representation of complex relations between blade image and its condition than in the case of subjective methods used currently by diagnosticians.

Gas turbines are used in the power sector, aviation, pump houses, and other technical systems. Such a broad range of application is associated with favourable indicators: high power, rather low weight per unit of power, significant efficiency, as well as high durability. All of these indicators greatly depend on the combustion chamber flue gas temperature. It is important for the flue gas temperature to be uniform around the turbine perimeter and stable over time. This condition is extremely important also in the case of frequent temperature variations associated, e.g. with a variable operating range of a manoeuvre aircraft turbojet engine. The paper analyses the causes for the unevenness and instability of combustion chamber flue gas temperature. The impact of the fuel quality, the technical condition of the fuel supply system, as well as the operating conditions of the combustion chamber-turbine assembly was shown. The issues regarding the presence of various types of damage to turbine elements, their blades in particular, were defined. The main cause behind the damage is the unevenness and instability of flue gas temperature, resulting in the presence of overheating, creeping, thermal fatigue, high-temperature corrosion of blade material. The forms of that damage, especially the first turbine stages, were presented. Blade material microstructure test results showed increased layer thickness, grain-size, and especially, adverse modification of the strengthening γ' phase in the temperature function. It was concluded periodic diagnostics of turbine blades with the optical method enables the non-invasive evaluation of their technical condition and drawing conclusions in terms of their durability.

Turbine blades have complex geometries with free form surface. Blades have different thickness at the trailing and leading edges as well as sharp bends at the chord-tip shroud junction and sharp fins at the tip shroud. In investment casting of blades, shrinkage at the tip-shroud and cord junction is a common casting problem. Because of high temperature applications, grain structure is also critical in these castings in order to avoid creep. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of different process parameters, such as, shell thickness, insulation and casting temperature on shrinkage porosity and grain size. The test geometry used in this study was a thin-walled air-foil structure which is representative of a typical hot-gas-path rotating turbine component. It was observed that, in thin sections, increased shell thickness helps to increase the feeding distance and thus avoid interdendritic shrinkage. It was also observed that grain size is not significantly affected by shell thickness in thin sections. Slower cooling rate due to the added insulation and steeper thermal gradient at metal mold interface induced by the thicker shell not only helps to avoid shrinkage porosity but also increases fill-ability in thinner sections.

Technological process of aircraft engine turbine blades requires control of blade geometric parameters. Innovation technologies for measurement of aircraft engine turbine blades are based on coordinate numerical machines – measurement process is based on processing of numerical data obtained by measurement using coordinate measuring machines. The paper presents the opportunity of analysis of dimensional accuracy of aircraft engine turbine blades measurements using coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Coordinate measuring machine allows specifying full methodology for designation of complex dimensions of physical objects (blade of aircraft engine) and transforming them into a computer program space of coordinate measuring devices. Presented paper includes capabilities of device used in the study to improve the measurement process and blades geometry analysis in the technological and economical aspects. Another issue described in the paper is impact of measurement performance in automatic mode on the quality of performance – the numerical model of geometry, from the standpoint of accuracy and number of collected data points in time. Measurements using a coordinate measuring machine are among the most accurate methods of measuring. The paper includes an analysis of conditions related to the measurement works, such as the process of preparing the model, measurement equipment and data processing capacity. As the result, methodology of (CMM) measurements of aircraft engine turbine blades will be presented.

W pracy przedstawiono problem niszczenia erozyjnego łopatek turbin parowych. Omówiono aktualne sposoby ich zabezpieczenia z wykorzystaniem stellitowych nakładek ochronnych. Wskazano na wady tego sposobu przeciwdziałania erozji związane m.in. z możliwością ich odrywania się podczas pracy. Zaprezentowano metodę zabezpieczenia piór łopatek stosowanych w turbinach parowych poprzez wytwarzanie na ich powierzchni metodą napawania laserowego powłok ochronnych. Przeprowadzona rewizja turbiny po 11 miesiącach doświadczalnej eksploatacji wykazała, że łopatki z napawanymi warstwami, w porównaniu z łopatkami bez zabezpieczenia, wykazują mniejsze zużycie erozyjne, zwłaszcza z powłoką materiału stellit 6. Zastosowanie technologii napawania laserowego powłok zapewnia niezawodność procesu wytwarzania i wysoką jakość wytwarzanej warstwy.
In this study, the problem of steam turbines' blades erosive destruction is analysed. The currently used methods of blade protection using stellite 6 protective plates is outlined in this study. The advantages of this method are also mentioned, i.e. the plates falling off during turbine operation. A method of steam turbine blade protection obtained in the process of protective coatings produced by laser cladding on the blades' surface are also presented. After 11 months of the turbine operation, an examination of its condition was conducted. The examination indicated that the blades with the coating were less eroded, especially those cladded with stellite 6, than the blades without the coating. It was proved that laser cladding of the coatings ensures the best process of their production and the high quality of the coating.

Celem pracy jest zbadanie wpływu dodatku zmielonych odpadów z łopat turbin wiatrowych, zastępujących kruszywo naturalne, na właściwości kompozytów cementowych. Analizowano pięć mieszanek betonowych z różną zawartością dodatku rozdrobnionych łopat turbin wiatrowych oraz mieszankę porównawczą niezawierającą dodatku. Sprawdzono parametry wytrzymałościowe na podstawie badania próbek w prasie hydraulicznej. Ponadto badano wpływ dodatku na zmianę temperatury, konsystencji i gęstości kompozytu.
Research on Cement Composites with Recycled Components from Wind Turbine Blades. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of adding ground waste from wind turbine blades, replacing natural aggregates, on the properties of cement composites. Five concrete mixtures with varying contents of crushed wind turbine blades were analyzed, along with a comparative mixture without the additive. Strength parameters were examined based on testing samples in a hydraulic press. Additionally, the impact of the additive on temperature development in the composite, changes in consistency, and density was investigated.

The article presents the results of microstructural characterization of newly developed three-layer thermal barrier coating (TBC) after isothermal oxidation test. Bond coats were deposited by the overaluminizing of MCrAlY coating deposited by low-pressure plasma spraying (LPPS) process. The outer ceramic layer of yttria-stabilized zirconia was deposited by the plasma spray physical vapor deposition process. The TBCs with MCrAlY bond coat without aluminizing process was produced by LPPS as well. The isothermal oxidation test at 1,100°C for 1,000 h showed that the thickness of the thermally grown oxides alumina oxide layer on overaluminized bond coats was significantly thinner in comparison with conventional LPPS-sprayed MCrAlY bond coats. The possibility of the presence of NiAl and Ni3Al phases in the outer zone of overaluminized bond coat after the oxidation test was observed.

This paper presents the results of laser ablation the barrier coating TBCs (Al2O3, ZrO2) generated on aircraft engine turbine blade made for nickel base alloy ŻS6K-- WI. Authors used neodymium impulse Nd: YAG laser, radiation with a wavelength of 1064 nm. In parallel with the laboratory experiment was performed numerical simulation of laser ablation. FEM simulation results were used for to choose the relevant laser parameters (impulse duration, impulse shape and course in time, power density) and to identify the temperature distribution heat fluxes and the state of stress and strain in the critical zones of the barrier coating TBCs. The simulation was carried out using the finite element method program LS-Dyna. On the basis of numerical simulation shown the influence of the impact layer TBCs as a thermal insulation and shown place the appearance of destructive deformation. Defined distributed tension as a function of time and estimated time destruction parts the barrier layer during the laser ablation micromachining. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań próbek ze stali stopowej X22CrMoV12-1 wytworzonych trzema metodami wielowarstwowego napawania proszkiem typu Stellit Co-6: metodą napawania laserowego, metodą napawania LENS (Laser Engineered Net Shaping) i metodą napawania plazmowego (PTA). Powierzchnie zewnętrzne napoin i przekroje poprzeczne próbek z wytworzonymi napoinami obserwowano na mikroskopie optycznym oraz badano wybrane właściwości użytkowe, takie jak: topografia powierzchni, mikrostruktura i twardość. Analizując powierzchnie przekrojów poprzecznych próbek po wielowarstwowym napawaniu nie stwierdzono pęknięć i nieciągłości w napoinie, w strefie połączenia materiału podłoża z napoiną ani w podłożu. W wyniku przeprowadzonych eksperymentów uzyskano napoiny o regularnym i powtarzalnym kształcie z charakterystyczną kierunkową krystalizacją. Uzyskano mikrostrukturę w kształcie iglastych dendrytów o różnych kierunkach wzrostu względem powierzchni podłoża. Twardość napoin napawanych laserowo i techniką LENS mieściła się w zakresie od 450 do 570 HV0,1, a napawanych plazmowo w zakresie od 320 do 440 HV0,1.
The paper presents the results of X22CrMoV12-1 alloy steel samples, prepared by three methods of multilayer powder padding using Stellit Co-6 type powder: method of laser padding, LENS (Laser Engineered Net Shaping) method, method of plasma padding (PTA). Using the optical microscope, the outer surfaces of the deposit and the cross sections of the samples with the generated deposits were observed. Selected usable properties such as surface topography, microstructure, hardness and erosion resistance were studied. No cracks and discontinuities were observed during the cross-sectional area analysis of samples after multilayering padding, in the bonding zone of the substrate material with the deposit, in the deposit and in the substrate. Because of the experiments, regular, repetitive shapes with characteristic directional crystallization were obtained. A dendrite-shaped microstructure was obtained, with different growth directions relative to the surface of the substrate. Hardness of deposits, which was laser-padded and padded using LENS technique, include in the range of 450 to 570 HV0,1, whereas plasma welded, was in the range of 320 to 440 HV0,1.

The hot parts of aircraft engines are made of nickel-based superalloys and work in extremely difficult conditions. The compressor blades mentioned in the article are usually produced by a casting process whose parameters have a great influence on the fatigue properties of the end product. The parameters of the casting process have significant influence on the microstructure, i.e. phase components morphologies. The article presents the results of the analysis of microstructures of nickel superalloys and the influence of casting parameters on the fatigue strength of finished products. The casting parameters were selected experimentally. The work included analysis of the microstructure of semifinished products and high-cyclic fatigue strength tests of the final product.

Wind turbines are among the key equipment needed for eco-friendly generation of electricity. Maintaining wind turbines in excellent technical condition is extremely important not only for safety but also for efficient operation. Studies indicate that defects in the external structure of a turbine blade reduce energy production efficiency. This research investigated the potential of the terrestrial laser scanning technology to examine the technical conditions of wind turbine blades. The main aim of the study was to examine whether terrestrial laser scanning measurements can be valuable for wind turbine blade condition surveying. The investigation was based on the radiometric analyses of point clouds, which forms the novelty of the present study. Condition monitoring focuses on the detection of defects, such as cracks, cavities, or signs of erosion. Moreover, this study consisted of two stages. The next objective entailed the development and examination of two different measurement methods. It was then identified which method is more advantageous by analysing their effectiveness and other economic considerations.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane metody usuwania dyfuzyjnych warstw aluminidkowych stosowanych do ochrony powierzchni łopatek turbin silników lotniczych przed oddziaływaniem korozji wysokotemperaturowej. Scharakteryzowano opracowane dotychczas chemiczne i elektrochemiczne metody rozpuszczania warstw aluminidkowych. Na podstawie analizy danych literaturowych wytypowano 3 roztwory: kwasu siarkowego(VI) o stężeniu 25% mas., mieszaninę stężonego kwasu solnego (40% obj.) i etanolu (60% obj.) oraz mieszaninę stężonych kwasów ortofosforowego (50% obj.), octowego (25% obj.), azotowego (25% obj.). Przeprowadzono badania kinetyki rozpuszczania modelowej warstwy aluminidkowej modyfikowanej cyrkonem na podłożu stopu Inconel 100. Wykazano, że niezależnie od zastosowanych roztworów, rozpuszczanie następuje równomiernie na powierzchni warstwy. Stwierdzono, że największą skutecznością w usuwaniu warstw cechowała się mieszanina kwasów: ortofosforowego, octowego i azotowego, w której rozpuszczenie warstwy aluminidkowej następowało po ok. 80 min.
Selected methods of removing diffusion alluminide coating used for protection of turbine blades were presented in the article. The chemical and electrochemical methods of coatings dissolution used in aerospace industry were described. Three selected removing agents were selected for experimental tests: hydrochloric acid in ethanol solution, sulphuric acid in water as well as mixture of orthophosphoric, acetic and nitride acids. The aluminide coating obtained on IN-100 nickel superalloy was used for tests. The conducted research showed that the mixture of orthophosphoric, acetic and nitride acids can dissolve outer-zone of aluminidce coating during 80 min dissolution process. The removing process takes place evenly on the whole surface of sample.

The IN713C is nickel-based superalloy, used to produce low pressure turbine blades in a process of investment casting. However, porosity which is formed during the casting, decreases mechanical properties of IN713C. Therefore, to eliminate porosity, a process of hot isostatic pressing was applied. Nonetheless, HIP also least to some changes in the microstructure of tested material. The main aim of this paper is to characterize the morphology of carbides before and after hot isostatic pressing. Microstructural characterization was carried out with the use of a scanning electron microscope equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer and an electron backscatter diffraction detector. The size and shape of carbides were evaluated by quantitative metallography methods methods. The results show that the amount, size and heterogeneity of arrangement of the carbides increased after application of HIP treatment.

The aim of this study was to present the hot cracking behavior of a blade originating from a turbine blade segment. The crack was induced by a gas tungsten arc welding process, and the research material was a MAR-M247 nickel based superalloy. This alloy is considered to be difficult to weld because of its high tendency to crack. Light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy show the occurrence of cracking in the melted zone, heat-affected zone, and base alloy. A scanning electron microscopy investigation revealed that cracks are propagated by stresses and liquation of the low temperature constituent.

Pęknięcie powstało w wyniku oddziaływania skoncentrowanego źródła ciepła, jakim był łuk elektryczny jarzący się w osłonie argonu. Łopatka została wykonana z nadstopu na osnowie niklu o nazwie handlowej MAR-M247. W przypadku konwencjonalnych metod spawania jest on uważany za trudno spawalny. Przeprowadzono badania makrostruktury i mikrostruktury za pomocą mikroskopii świetlnej i skaningowej. Na podstawie wykonanych badań stwierdzono występowanie pęknięć ciągłych zarówno w obszarze przetopionym, strefie wpływu ciepła, jak i materiale rodzimym. Obserwacje za pomocą skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej pozwoliły na stwierdzenie, że pęknięcie propagowało w wyniku naprężeń, jak również likwacji niskotopliwych składników mikrostruktury.

Wear processes of NP turbine blades and evaluation of selected properties of Stellit Co-6 top surface produced by PTA multilayered plasma method, and incremental laser were analyzed, including LENS method on alloy steel X22CrMoV12-1. The topography of the worn blade surface was observed. Regenerative quality of weld overlays in cross section using Keyence optical microscope was recorded. We were looking for welding defects in padding welds. The usefulness of applied methods has been confirmed. In this article, the materials used for EBC coatings, representing next stage in the development of heat-resistant layers, and thermal barrier coatings are reviewed. In the introduction, the design of gas turbine is characterized, as well as the materials used for the hot part components and the requirements for protective coatings. Ceramic materials that can be an alternative to currently used nickel superalloys for turbine blades are also described. The requirements for EBC coatings were analyzed and then the various types of EBC coatings were characterized, as well as their degradation mechanisms.
W artykule dokonano krótkiego przeglądu materiałów stosowanych na powłoki EBC (environmental barrier coatings) reprezentujących kolejny etap zaawansowania warstw żaroodpornych i powłokowych barier cieplnych (TBC – thermal barrier coatings). Opisano konstrukcję turbiny gazowej i materiały stosowane do produkcji elementów części gorącej oraz wymagania w zakresie powłok ochronnych. Opisane zostały również materiały ceramiczne, które mogą być alternatywą dla obecnie stosowanych nadstopów niklu używanych do wytwarzania łopatek turbin. Przeprowadzono analizę wymagań dotyczących powłok EBC, a następnie scharakteryzowano poszczególne rodzaje tych powłok, a także mechanizmy ich degradacji.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań nad strukturą powłok aluminidkowych na wybranych stopach żarowytrzymałych wytwarzanych metodą gazową (out of pack) oraz fizycznego osadzania PVD. Przedstawiono wpływ parametrów otrzymywania powłok na stopach Inconel 100 oraz Mar M 247. Wykazano zależność pomiędzy składem chemicznym stopów a strukturą oraz rozmieszczeniem pierwiastków w powłoce aluminidkowej. Wyniki badań odporności na cykliczne utlenianie powłok aluminidkowych na stopach wykazały, że najwyższą odpornością charakteryzuje się powłoka na stopie Mar M 247. Przedstawiono wyniki badań łopatek z powłokami powłok w testach silnikowych. Przeprowadzono analizę zmian na powierzchni łopatek kierujących oraz degradacji struktury w charakterystycznych przekrojach poprzecznych łopatek kierujących. Wykazano, że obszarem szczególnie narażonym na złuszczenia powłoki jest obszar wysokiego ciśnienia. Analiza degradacji struktury powłok po testach silnikowych wskazuje na lokalny charakter ataku korozyjnego. W produktach korozji stwierdzono podwyższoną zawartość siarki oraz cynku. Przedstawiono możliwość zwiększenia odporności na cykliczne utlenianie powłok aluminidkowych przez ich modyfikację hafnem. Wykazano możliwość wprowadzania hafnu do powłok aluminidkowych metodą Arc-PVD.
The article presents structure investigation results of aluminide coatings deposited on heat-resistant alloys using gas phase method (out of pack) and physical vapor deposition (PVD). It describes the influence of deposition process parameters on the coatings applied on Inconel 100 and Mar M 247 alloys. A dependence of alloys' chemical composition on the structure and elements distribution of the aluminide coatings has been revealed. Cyclic oxidation tests of aluminide coatings on these alloys proved that the coating on Mar M 247 alloy exhibits the highest durability. Engine test results of coated blades are presented. The conducted analysis concerned the changes occurring on the surface of the vanes as well as structure degradation in the cross sections. It has been revealed that the high pressure area is particularly prone to coating spallation. Degradation analysis of the coatings structure after engine tests indicates a local type of the corrosion attack. An increased amount of sulfur and zinc has been found in the corrosion products. A prospect of aluminide coatings cyclic oxidation resistance increase induced by hafnium modification is presented. Arc-PVD method has been proven to be useable in introducing hafnium to aluminide coatings.

The aim of this paper is manufacturing of turbocharger engine jet blades made of nickel superalloys. Processes for producing molds and casting realized in a production line are special processes. It means that the results are known only after inspection of the finished product. There is lack of the methods and techniques of effective and efficient quality control of the work in stock, above all molds. Therefore, the unknown is the state ceramic mold for the precision casting, which resulting in risk of referral to a defective mold of the casting process and thus give the product does not comply, is eliminated in the final inspection. One method of reducing this risk is particularly thorough monitoring of all parameters of each process and keeping them in the desired operating point. Operating point is a set of parameters of processes. Such monitoring is possible with the commitment to the methods and techniques to automatically, without human intervention, data collection and processing methods appropriate for use in operational control. The paper presents results of research on the attitude to the problem of a special process. This change is the introduction to the process efficient and effective form of quality control tools in the course of its preparation. In this case, the method of photogrammetry, thermal imaging and computed tomography were used. With the infrared camera will be possible to determine the temperature field, the disorder in relation to the pattern indicates the type of defect. Computed tomography and will be used to develop patterns of correlated defects associated with thermal imagers. Photogrammetry is the use of a model set of quality control (comparison of the actual state of the model *.CAD). It also allows the designation of a wall thickness of the mold.
Referat dotyczy procesu wytwarzania łopatek turbosprężarek silników odrzutowych wykonanych z nadstopów niklu. Procesy wytwarzania form i odlewania, realizowane w linii technologicznej są procesami specjalnymi. Oznacza to, że ich wyniki są znane dopiero po kontroli wyrobu gotowego. Brak jest, bowiem metod i technik efektywnej i skutecznej kontroli jakości półproduktu, przede wszystkim formy. Tym samym nieznany jest stan formy przeznaczanej do odlewania, co skutkuje ryzykiem skierowania do procesu odlewania wadliwej formy i tym samym wytworzeniem wyrobu niezgodnego, eliminowanego dopiero podczas końcowej kontroli odbiorczej. Jedną z metod zmniejszania tego typu ryzyka jest szczególnie gruntowne nadzorowanie wszystkich parametrów poszczególnych procesów i utrzymanie ich w wybranym punkcie pracy. Punkt pracy jest zbiorem parametrów realizacji procesów. Takie nadzorowanie jest możliwe w przypadku zaangażowania do tego celu metod i technik automatycznego, bez udziału człowieka, zbierania danych oraz metod właściwego ich przetwarzania na użytek operacyjnego sterowania. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań nad zmianą podejścia do problemu procesu specjalnego. Zmiana ta polega na wprowadzeniu do procesu efektywnych i skutecznych narzędzi kontroli jakosci formy w trakcie jej wytwarzania. W tym celu wykorzystano metody fotogrametrii, termowizji oraz tomografii komputerowej. Dzięki zastosowaniu kamery termowizyjnej możliwe będzie określenie pola temperatury, którego zaburzenie w stosunku do wzorca wskaże na rodzaj wady. Tomografia komputerowa natomiast będzie służyła do opracowania wzorców wad skorelowanych z obrazami termowizyjnymi. Fotogrametria znajduje natomiast zastosowanie w kontroli jakości zestawu modelowego (porównanie rzeczywistego stanu z modelem *.CAD). Umożliwia także wyznaczenie grubości ścianki formy.

Technologia napawania laserowego polega na wykorzystaniu wiązki laserowej celem precyzyjnego nałożenia warstwy materiału o podwyższonych właściwościach na podłoże. Szczególne zainteresowanie budzi ona w branży lotniczej. Odpowiednie przygotowanie procesu wiąże się z wykonaniem testów symulacyjnych z wykorzystaniem modeli przepływu dwufazowego oraz interakcji wiązki laserowej z materiałem. Następnie zostają wyznaczone ścieżki ruchu głowicy przy użyciu dedykowanych narzędzi CAD/CAM. W ramach analizy technologii napawania laserowego dla zastosowań branży lotniczej przedstawiono nakładanie powłok funkcjonalnych, będących alternatywą dla chromu elektrolitycznego. Przeanalizowano również metodę regeneracji wierzchołka łopatki turbiny silnika odrzutowego. Zaprezentowano też możliwości obróbki hybrydowej w wytwarzaniu przyrostowym tytanowych komponentów lotniczych oraz metodę monitorowania temperatury celem jakościowej kontroli procesu.
The laser cladding technology consists of the use of laser beam for precise deposition of a material layer with enhanced properties to the substrate. Therefore it finds special interest in the aviation industry. Appropriate preparation of the process involves performing simulation tests using two-phase flow models and laser beam interaction with material. Subsequently, the laser head movement paths are determined using dedicated CAD/CAM software. In the analysis of laser cladding technology applications for the aviation industry, the deposition of functional coatings, being an alternative to electrolytic chromium, was presented. Secondly, the repair of turbine blade tip was also analyzed. Moreover the capabilities of hybrid laser cladding technology with machining for the additive manufacturing aviation components made of titanium alloys were presented, as well as the method of temperature monitoring for the purpose of qualitative process control implementation.

The Ni-base superalloys are used in the aircraft industry for the production of aero engine most stressed parts, turbine blades or turbine discs. Quality of aero jet engine components has a significant influence on the overall lifetime of a jet engine as itself as well as the whole airplane. From this reason a dendrite arm spacing, grain size, morphology, number and value of γ' - phase are very important structural characteristics for blade or discs lifetime prediction. The methods of quantitative metallography are very often used for evaluation of structural characteristics mentioned above. The high-temperature effect on structural characteristics and application of quantitative methods evaluation are presented in this paper. The two different groups of Ni-base alloys have been used as experimental material: cast alloys ZhS6K and IN713LC, which are used for small turbine blades production and wrought alloys EI 698VD and EI 929, which are used for turbine disc production. Selected alloys have been evaluated in the starting stage and after applied heattreatment at 850°C for 24 hrs. This applied heat-treatment causes structural changes in all alloys groups. In cast alloy dendritic structure is degraded and gamma prime average size has grown what has a negative influence on turbine blade creep rupture life. Wrought alloys show partially grain boundary melting and grain size changed due to recrystallization what causes mechanical properties decreasing - ultimate tensile strength mainly.

Opis:
The paper presents the construction and parameters of small wind power plant fitted with five blades turbine of horizontal pivot. Despite its higher cost, author decided to use five blades turbine instead of three blades turbine due to its higher efficiency for light winds. The rotor is directly connected to the shaft of three-phase permanent magnet generator. Magnetic circuit of the generator is presented in the figure showing magnetic field distribution. The generator supplies one-phase converter which is directly connected to the low power system. The converter allows for transmission of energy for wide range of angular speed of the turbine. The paper also gives all volume of energy transmitted the power system in months: September, October, November of 2015 as well as maximum power generated by power plant at the wind of velocity of 12m/s. Presented power plant can be used in houses.
W artykule przedstawiono konstrukcję i parametry małej elektrowni wiatrowej wyposażonej w pięciołopatowy wirnik o poziomej osi obrotu. Pomimo większego kosztu w porównaniu z wirnikiem trójłopatowym zdecydowano się na wirnik pięciołopatowy, gdyż przy wiatrach o niewielkiej prędkości uzyskuje się z niego znacznie więcej energii. Wirnik ten umieszczony jest bezpośrednio na wale trójfazowego generatora z magnesami trwałymi, którego obwód magnetyczny pokazano na rysunku ilustrującym rozkład pola magnetycznego. Generator zasila jednofazowy falownik podłączony bezpośrednio do sieci niskiego napięcia. Falownik umożliwia przekazywanie energii do sieci w szerokim zakresie napięcia uzyskiwanego z generatora, czyli w szerokim zakresie prędkości obrotowych turbiny wiatrowej. W artykule podano łączną ilość energii przekazanej do sieci w miesiącach: wrzesień, październik i listopad 2015 roku oraz moc szczytową elektrowni uzyskaną przy wietrze o prędkości 12 m/s. Elektrownia ta może być wykorzystana w budownictwie jedno i wielorodzinnym.

Topics below are rather undesired, but important, outcome not yet completed research on the aircraft airfoils, turbine and compressor blades, parametric design of airfoils, establishing the relationships based on the results of experiments in a wind tunnel, developing databases for determining the relationships between airfoil parameters and lift and drag coefficients. Reliable database created as a result of the research work allows to simulate the wind tunnel. Very early on, however, was necessary to extend the developed specialized software for a new applications, and it meant the need for generalization of software, e.g. for gas turbine engines, propellers, etc. But after some time it turned out, that in order to achieve the required accuracy, the changes are needed in the underlying assumptions, set decades ago. In addition, coordinate measuring machines and systems, and associated software were not always as accurate as expected. Concepts how to solve it and develop software carrying out these tasks are presented in the article. It is like to withdraw from the old path and look for a new path that will lead to the reliable data base. Processes related to air or gas flow should be similarly defined in all the specialized software applications (e.g. aircrafts and turbine engines). Accuracy (10-9 mm) achieved in virtual measurements within the integrated system can be used to verify the results of CMM and other measuring systems, provided that an appropriate software has been developed.
