The freight transport combines the issue of supply services organization for various types of entities, including large shopping centres, stores of various industries, restaurants, work and leisure places, small-scale outlets, or municipal waste shipments. Due to the location of customers, transport services encounter many difficulties related to infrastructural constraints and increased traffic. This adversely affects the safety and obstructions in traffic and air pollution and thus is a disturbing factor for the lives of inhabitants. There is also a growing problem of the smog in large cities (in Poland, for example, Warsaw or Cracow). Traffic safety, minimization of congestion, and minimization of environmental pollution by transport activities are of particular importance in the development of freight traffic organization plans. In connection with the above, in recent years, the use of Environmentally Friendly Vehicles (EFV) in various spheres of human activity has been dynamically developing, and this concerns the cargo transport. Currently, vehicle manufacturers are providing an increasing number of delivery vehicles and trucks. On the other hand, entrepreneurs planning to implement pro-environmental solutions face a decision problem related to the efficiency of a transport system based on the use of EFV as well as the economic validity of implementing this type of innovation. In connection with the above, in this article, the problem of the impact of transport on the environment and the use of EFV in the freight transport was analysed. The main issues related to the functioning of the transport system and its negative impact on the environment has been presented. Environmental friendly vehicles and their parameters have been characterized. The main decision problems in organizing the transport system, also in the context of the use of EFV, have been identified and analysed. Finally, an example of a model for assessing the efficiency of a transport system with an emphasis on its impact on the environment was presented. The article was concluded with the summary of considerations and the proposal for further work.

As far as the current rules involved in business enterprise operation process are concerned, one of the most significant characteristics is specified by the need of engaging economic criterion in all procedures involved. Thus, it is required to introduce deep and extensive analysis concerning economic aspects ofpassenger transport. First of all, it is essential to specify currently existing demand for passenger transport service and compare it in relation to the supply capabilities offered by a transport enterprise. Business advantages created by the enterprise are also necessary to be considered and analysed. The basis for transport enterprise operation should be provided with order placed by Passenger Transport Executive, subcontracting firm of a chosen line according to valid schedule including both, rush and after-rush hours. In order to avoid any possible difficulties it is very important that the hired company is informed about all factors influencing economic efficiency of the serviced bus line. As a result, subcontractor is enabledto make right decisions and eliminate potential problems. Important processes having a considerable influence on proper functioning and effectiveness of public means of transport are connected with its usage, diagnosing and making it fitness for use. Operation effectiveness aspects that are the most frequently discussed in professional literature is described as relations existing between the profits and the input. It takes form of difference or quotient of the values mentioned above. This paper presents evaluation and analysis method controlling different means of transport operation system effectiveness. Method developed with the aim of analysing and evaluating public means of transport operation effectiveness, provides managerial staff with feedback, which is helpful as far as taking right decisions, is concerned. Making proper choices has a great influence on the process and it bears the responsibility for functioning of the system in terms of reliability and cost efficacy. Certainly, the more professional service is, the more satisfied customers are. Moreover, customer demands are more likely to be met, which means that all involved procedures related with functioning of the system are carried out in the accordance with regulations and reguirements, being currently inforce.

The article deals with an issue of complex systems operation efficiency, especially of the ones which are connected with transport. The operation of such systems aims at developing both passenger and load transportation in terms of safety, reliability, effectiveness and environment friendliness. These properties should be researched in a particular place and time that were earlier planned and selected. Operation effectiveness is an important component ofwidely understood social-economic and technological research, including assessment of the considered transport system. The concepts of operation efficiency, most frequently used in literature, express it as the relation between benefits (treated as profit or income in terms of economy) and costs. However, a ratio of two quantities, the flrst of which is evaluated positively, that is, aims at reaching the highest values and the other one being negative, is considered as the most important definition of efficiency. In some cases these quantities can assume constant values, treated as basic ones. It should be remembered, though, that in many cases the system goals are formulated in different terms than, e.g. economic ones. And the systems should be evaluated taking into consideration the goal achievement degree. The article deals with an analysis of distinguished values of selected assessment indices for an investigated transport system, and on this basis an assessment of the transport system operation efficiency, in a given period of time, has been made.

W pracy przedstawiono metodę wyznaczania gotowości systemu transportowego z wykorzystaniem oceny skuteczności realizowanych napraw na stanowiskach podsystemu utrzymania ruchu. W wyniku identyfikacji procesu eksploatacji realizowanego w rzeczywistym systemie transportu miejskiego został zbudowany zdarzeniowy model tego procesu. Na tej podstawie wyznaczono prawdopodobieństwa graniczne pi* przebywania pojedynczego autobusu w poszczególnych stanach procesu eksploatacji zakładając, że modelem procesu eksploatacji obiektów technicznych (autobusów miejskich) jest jednorodny proces Markowa X(t).
The paper presents the method of shaping the availability of the transport system on the basis of evaluation of the effectiveness of repairs, performed on special stations of the road traffic subsystem. The occurence model was created as the result of identification of the maintenance process, realized in the real urban transport system. Furthermore, all border probabilities pi* of finding the single bus in individual maitenance conditions have been determined, with the general assumption, that the homogeneous Markov's process X(t) is the model of the maintenance process of mentioned technical objects (urban buses).

Systems of transport means operational use are such systems whose main goal is to carry out transport tasks on an assigned territory. In each transport system assurance of the used transport means availability, viewed as the object capability to accomplish the transport task, is of great importance. A certain number of damages results from natural wear of transport means elements which is a natural phenomenon, whereas other damages can be caused by in effective repair of the previous damage. In this way, within a short time, there occur the so called repetitive damages to the repaired element. This reflects improper organization of repairs, poor skills of the maintenance workers, limitations connected with wrong diagnosing before and after the repair. Damages occurring during means of transport operation involve bearing considerable costs while assuring the transport means operational reliability, as well as covering the losses connected with impossibility to accomplish the transport task. Finding out the causes of in effective repairs would reduce the costs that a transport company has to bear to provide efficient operation of means of transport. Times of resultant repairs and being unftt for use have been analyzed, as well as costs of repairs, spare parts, maintenance and operation.

Electronic payment systems used for urban services are implemented and funded by the public sector. Those are rather big investments, characterized by high costs, but they also allow for gaining profits – mainly connected with the transport offer optimization and with more effective price management. When preparing the documents, among other papers concerning functionality or technical and technological solutions, it is necessary to prepare a feasibility study, in which the assessment of the effectiveness of such investments is an important part. To do so, one ought to identify and assess the costs and the profits connected with the realization of such projects. Such assessment ought to be performed within the frame of financial analyses (from the perspective of the unit implementing and using the solutions) and of economic analyses within which the external costs and profits should also be considered.

This paper discusses the current directions of vehicle developments, as well as the barriers and opportunities for using electric vehicles instead of conventional vehicles. There is also mentioned a problem of the battery charging system. Compared to refueling gasoline powered vehicles, charging of battery electric vehicles takes considerably more time, which renders a single-purpose charging infrastructure inconvenient. However, an objective of this article is also to investigate the future market prospects of various types of EVs, with the economics of EVs in comparison to conventional cars. Only if the final driving costs can be considerably reduced will EVs gain significant market shares.

The development of measures in civil aviation protection against illegal acts is based on the analysis of incidents, which can be divided into four development stages. Before 9/11, civil aviation entities were mostly reactive; only new threats warranted a proactive approach to mitigating air threats. The present article’s aim was to analyse the development of methods for checking passengers and objects intended for air transport. The analysis of selected incidents, control processes, and the level of security achieved confirm that the implemented security methods and proactive approach to working with air traffic risks are a suitable compromise between passenger comfort, technological development of detection devices, and processes at the airport.

The work presents a methodology that allows us to evaluate the effectiveness of the system in accordance with accepted standards in terms of the three components of the “passenger–carrier–department” system, taking into account the interests of each side. The given comprehensive effectiveness evaluation of the urban public passenger transport system shows that a new scientific idea consists in forming fundamentally new sets of indicators for each participant of the system (passenger–carrier–department of transport) that correspond to the conditions of functioning of the urban passenger transport system in Russian Federation. The article presents a classification model for the formation of a basic system of indicators and a functional scheme for grouping and ranking them. The effectiveness of the urban public passenger transport system can be considered separately for each participant in the system from its side, in two directions: horizontal (by year, for example, for an enterprise) and vertical (in the current period for all participants).

Sprawność funkcjonowania transportu samochodowego pasażerów to przede wszystkim poziom złożoności zorganizowania tych usług. Złożoność i różnorodność występujących na tych rynkach struktur zarządzających i przewozowych powoduje, że sprawność systemowa w transporcie samochodowym pasażerów współkształtowana jest bezpośrednio przez formalizm i operacjonalizację usług przemieszczania, jak również skuteczność i ekonomiczną efektywność ich organizacji i wykonywania.
Functional effectiveness of road cargo transport is an effect of relatively strong decentralisation of haulage potential management and highly developed market organisational structures. Its leading attributes are the effectiveness of market activity and financial efficiency, which is a result of economic independence of enterprises in the road transport supply chains. A high complexity of service organisation is correlated with the functional effectiveness. Complexity and variety of management and haulage structures on these markets result in the fact that the system efficiency in road passenger transport is co-created directly by the formalism and operationalisation of transport services and the effectiveness and efficiency of their organisation and performance.

Przedstawiono możliwości komunikacyjne systemu, jego modularność i opcje rozbudowy. Zwrócono uwagę na aspekt ekonomiczny polegający na minimalnych kosztach niezbędnej infrastruktury oraz bezpieczeństwa transportu.
The paper presents the System of Wireless Logistics Support WLSSTM developed by the Institute of Innovative Technologies EMAG as well as its fundamental functions. It is focused particularly on the system characteristics corresponding with market needs in the scope of providing mine transportation supervisors with information of critical importance for mine transportation management. The authors present communication capacity, modularity and extension options of the system and emphasize low cost of necessary infrastructure and transportation safety.

This paper attempts to clarify what impact has selected technical maintenance tasks on the effectiveness of the braking system with special emphasis on the initial break-in period of associated components. Were conducted studies involving measurements of braking forces on a rolling station and road tests Renault Thalia of car braking during which was recorded deceleration, speed, temperature of brake discs and the force of the pressure on the brake pedal. Braking process on the rolling station was assessed with a braking efficiency ratio as a criterion. However, results collected during road tests allowed studying for more accurate of running-in process of car barking system elements. This was due to taking into account the total vehicle braking force compared with the force applied to the brake pedal. The study was performed for the discs and brake pads exhibiting a different degree of wear, with particular emphasis on the running-in elements occurring immediately after replacing brake pads. In this case, there is a noticeable loss of performance brake system, which persists after initial running in mating faces of the pad and the brake disc. This phenomenon is known from workshop car service practice, but there is a need for sensitization of staff at the Pre-reaching elements of the service operations, because operation of a vehicle with a temporarily reduced efficiency of the braking system on a public road has the potential to cause threats to the safety of road users.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję organizacji trasy przewozu pojazdów ciężarowych przy zastosowaniu wagonów typu 602 S na magistrali kolejowej E-30 (Węgliniec-Wrocław-Katowice-Przemyśl) oraz opracowano lokalizację stacji rozładowczo-załadowczych. Z przeprowadzonych obliczeń wynikają pozytywy systemu transportu „ruchoma droga”, wskazujące na opłacalność rzędu około 66% w odniesieniu do przejazdu tradycyjnie szlakiem samochodowym.
The concept of heavy vehicles organization-routing using the S602 type of wagons on the railway lines E-30 (Węgliniec-Wroclaw-Katowice-Przemysl) and the location of unloading-loading stations have been presented in the paper. The calculations carried out due in the project allows to formulate some positives of the „mobile way” transport system, pointing to the profitability of around 66% in relation to the traditional travel by car.

W pracy przebadano wzrost efektywności sieci dróg kołowych Polski rozbudowywanej w ramach funduszy unijnych. Wprawdzie inwestycje drogowe podniosły ogólną efektywność całej sieci kraju, ale w trakcie tego procesu spowodowały wzrost zróżnicowania poziomów skomunikowania pomiędzy poszczególnymi obszarami. Wykazano, że mniejsze inwestycje drogowe, subregionalne mogą przynieść w tym względzie większe korzyści.
The paper examines the efficiency of the road transportation network in Poland, developed with the use of EU funds. The examined infrastructure investments increased the overall efficiency of the national transportation network, but in the process, they also increased the differences/inequalities in the level of spatial accessibility of various areas. It has been proved that smaller road infrastructure developments at a subregional level would have led to greater efficiencies in the overall efficiency of the national network.

Opis:
Automation of data processing of contactless diagnostics (detection) of the technical condition of the majority of nodes and aggregates of railway transport (RWT) minimizes the damage from failures of these systems in operating modes. This becomes possible due to the rapid detection of serious defects at the stage of their origin. Basically, in practice, the control of the technical condition of the nodes and aggregates of the RWT is carried out during scheduled repairs. It is not always possible to identify incipient defects. Consequently, it is not always possible to warn personnel (machinists, repairmen, etc.) of significant damage to the RWT systems until their complete failure. The difficulties of obtaining diagnostic information is that there is interdependence between the main nodes of the RWT. This means that if physical damage occurs at any of the RWT nodes, in other nodes there can also occur malfunctions. As the main way to improve the efficiency of state detection of the nodes and aggregates of RWT, we see the direction of giving the adaptability property for an automated data processing system from various contactless diagnostic information removal systems. The global purpose can be achieved, in particular, through the use of machine learning methods and failure recognition (recognition objects). In order to improve the operational reliability and service life of the main nodes and aggregates of RWT, there are proposed an appropriate model and algorithm of machine learning of the operator control system of nodes and aggregates. It is proposed to use the Shannon normalized entropy measure and the Kullback-Leibler distance information criterion as a criterion of the learning effectiveness of the automated detection system and operator node state control of RWT. The article describes the application of the proposed method on the example of an automatic detection system (ADS) of the state of a traction motor of an electric locomotive. There are given the test data of the model and algorithm in the MATLAB environment.

W warunkach technologicznego i fizycznego starzenia infrastruktury, istniejące systemy zasilania trakcji prądem stałym i zmiennym wymagają dalszego rozwoju i poprawy w zakresie zapewnienia przesyłu energii elektrycznej o wymaganej mocy i odpowiedniej jakości do taboru elektrycznego. Znane sposoby wzmocnienia zasilania trakcyjnego sprowadzają się nie tylko do wdrożenia najnowszych technologii i nowoczesnego sprzętu lecz również do zastosowania układów rozdziału energii elektrycznej. Autorzy artykułu rozpatrują możliwość wykorzystania energii alternatywnej do zasilania potrzeb własnych podstacji trakcyjnych i wzmocnienia sieci trakcyjnej prądu stałego. Zastosowanie baterii słonecznych do punktów konwersji pozwala na przejście od zasilania centralnego do rozdziału energii elektrycznej, co z kolei zmniejsza zużycie i straty energii bezpośrednio w sieci trakcyjnej. Przedstawiona metodyka obliczeń dla typowej strefy międzypodstacyjnej pozwala określić wymagane moce punktów wzmacniających oraz ich liczbę w celu zapewnienia dopuszczalnego minimalnego napięcia w sieci jezdnej. Całościowa ocena wskaźników technicznych i ekonomicznych układów centralnego zasilania elektrotrakcyjnego i rozdziału energii elektrycznej na ogół wykazuje znaczne oszczędności energii elektrycznej.
The existing AC and DC system of traction power supply in terms of moral and physical infrastructure aging require further development and improvement in terms of ensuring the transmission of electrical energy required capacity and quality of electric rolling stock. Known methods for enhancing traction power supply are reduced not only the introduction of new technologies and equipment but the using of distributed power systems. The authors examine the possibility of using alternative energy to power the auxiliary traction substations and DC traction network improvement. The use of solar panels for converting points can make the transition from a centralized to a distributed power supply, which in turn reduces the expense and loss of electrical energy directly in the traction network. The above method of calculation for a typical traction zone is determined the required power amplifier and the number of points for the minimum voltage in the contact network. Evaluation of technical and economic indicators of centralized and distributed supply of traction power systems shows significant savings of electric power.

Electric vehicles are increasingly popular means of transport. One of the most important problems of their operation is to optimize the use of a battery pack. It requires to analyze the operational characteristics of a vehicle in motion, which are stored in a database. If the measurement data are collected from many vehicles, the efficiency of their analysis is important. The objective of this article is to study the possibilities of using modern column-oriented databases in order to increase the efficiency of the analysis of selected operational characteristics of an electric vehicle. The research problem is a comparative analysis of the processing efficiency of selected measurement characteristics of an electric vehicle in relational and column-oriented data structures. Important analytical functions were formulated and recorded in the form of database queries. An experiment consisting in multiple execution of functions packages on various database structures, including a column-oriented one, was carried out. The execution time of packages and the IT system load were collected and analyzed. The analysis of the experiment results allows to conclude that the use of the column-oriented data structures made it possible to shorten the time of executing the functions analyzing the energy consumption by the electric vehicle’s drive system. Depending on the type of the analyzed characteristics of the vehicle and its method of representation in the database, a significant reduction of the analysis time compared to the relational structure was obtained. Also, a decrease in the load on the computer system during data processing on the column-oriented structures was noted. The use of the column-oriented databases in the processing and analysis of measurement operational characteristics of electric vehicles is justified and it can bring measurable effects. It should be considered that the effectiveness of solving depends on the number of the analyzed characteristics and the format of their representation in the computer.
