Against the background of researches conducted in paper end textile industries in the period of 1976-1979, the author discusses the problem of velues sought by workers in reletion to their children. The parents were allowed to choose from among the following values: educational background higher than that possessed by respondenta, early economic independence - undertaking wage-earning work, obtaining of high wages, obtaining of prestige. Most parents choose education as an element paving the way for performance of non-manual jobs - end thus departure of children from the working-class making it possilble to secure a light, interesting, and better paid work. The enalysis reveals unfavourable attitude of workers to manual work. Through the analysis of values selection eccordlng to sex, age, type of work, professional experience, wages, educational background, and number of children the author points out interesting relationships between these veriables and attitude to education, as well as their influence on choice of professions for children.

The system of the Polish education in Great Britain is closely connected with the character of the Polish emigration of war. All transformations that the Poles in Great Britain had undergone, simultaneously changed the main aims of the Polish education. Hence, two phases of the Polish education can be distinguished: the period of the military emigration of war (1940-1947);2. the period of the intensive adaptation with the British society (since 1947). In the first period the education of Poles was under the authority of the Polish Government-in-Exile. It was to offer education for the soldiers as well as to work out the system of education in post-war Poland. After the Polish Army had been demobilized, the responsibility for the education of Poles was taken over by the Interim Treasury Committee for Polish Questions (1945-1947) and then by the Committee far the Education of Poles in Great Britain (1947-1954). Both institutions tended to enable the Poles to obtain education from the British authorities. This intensive process of adaptation threatened with the danger of complete assimilation with the British society. However, the Polish political emigrants, thanks to their deep national awareness, understood the necessity and value of keeping up their national character. They contributed a lot to organizing the Polish national education in Great Britain based on free, voluntary work of Polish teachers, priests and social organizations. In 1980, there were 68 Polish Saturday schools, two grammar schools and the Polish University-in-Exile. This whole system depends largely on a few Polish educational organizations. The history of the Polish education in Great Britain shows great efforts of the Polish ethnic group in order to maintain the values of the Polish culture. Methods of teaching, however, are far from being ideal. If the Polish system of education is to survive and serve future generations, the process of teaching has to be enriched by the idea of biculturalism.

The article is an attempt at analysis of the structure of sources in financing of the vocational education system. In its introduction a hypothesis is made according to which participation of particular sources in financing the costs of a school is differentiated according to level of education. The analysis perforated on the basic of the collected date allowed to state that the level of education is a factor differentiating, to a limited extent, participation of the budget end non-budgetary resources, and that even If any differentiation appears it has no significant trends.

In order to find a proper method of financing the vocational education system it is necessary to build a target model of vocational education. When building such a model, there should be known evolutionary transformations in the vocational education system. In his historical an alysis of the vocational education system, the author is trying to stress these moments, which had and continue to have a decisive importance for both the present and the planned system of vocational education, and he presents development trends in the sphere of vocational education as a stage in creating a target model. The solutions applied in Poland hither to envisage two ways of preparing qualified manpower. One of them is the vocational education system subordinated to local educational authorities and the other - vocational training centers attached to industrial plants . The experience of many countries and the scientific - technical progress taking place all the time speak in favour of the latter solution as a leading one. However, acceptance of such a solution has multiple consequences. This concerns also the structure and the functioning of the financing system. In this area, the most important problems are those concerning choice of forms and sources of financing . Besides, it is necessary to determine ways and methods of financing vocational education. Dilemmas existing here are presented in this article.

The article sets out to present the basic problems and concepts of philosophy which lie at the foundation of the educational system of Father J. Woroniecki, a pedagogue, philosopher and theologian active in Poland in the years 1908-1948. Father Woroniecki's system was based on the teachings of St. Tomas Aquinas. The article considers the problem of human nature and those of its properties owing to which man can be educated and can perfect himself. It also deals with the questions of human faculties, hierarchy of values, essence of moral good, moral law and the process of moral perfection. The author intends no comparison of Father Woroniecki's teaching with the analyses of modern Thomists. He is more concerned with various ways in which certain problems can be approached and solved. Father Woroniecki's way, which is fifty years old, bears the mark of universality.

The aim of the study was to develop a set of curricula for teaching Occupational Safety and Ergonomics at colleges and universities of various types, aimed at equipping students with knowledge and skills and at shaping active attitudes towards the practical application of the acquired knowledge in their future working lives. On the basis of the analysis of the curricula at Polish and foreign colleges and universities, a set (canon) of educational contents constituting a common practice in the academic teaching of Occupational Safety and Ergonomics was established. Then, a convenient for teaching this subject classification of university specialisations in Poland was introduced. This led to identifying and defining a taxonomic unit called here an educational profile. Next, curriculum minima for the developed profiles were defined objectively. To achieve this aim, the set of educational contents was ranked by university teachers and specialists in occupational safety and ergonomics. Each part of the educational contents (subject) was ranked on a 10-point scale in relation to each educational profile. The results of this ranking led to formulating sets of educational contents for each educational profile. On this basis, a repertoire of curricula (6 curricula, in 2 hour-by-hour versions each) was prepared, with methodological guidelines for lecturers. The results of the study were presented in the form of a manual for academic authorities.

Under the impact of globalising market forces, public funding to higher education systems in many parts of the world has been reduced on a per capita basis, even as student enrolments continue to increase. Paralleling this phenomenon has been rapid privatisation of the university sector, achieved through the transfer of costs to the community, either through state universities imposing student fees or new private institutions being established. The paper analyses the course of privatisation in the higher education systems of Poland, Iran, Australia and the Philippines and concludes that the various privatisation pathways being followed are reflective of the differing national traditions of the countries concerned.

Considering dynamics of educational processes, their teaching goals and organizational forms and also research management, faculty members face increasing requirements. Consequently, time devoted to research activities becomes gradually reduced. Implementing specific information systems that assist educational processes and research management may improve the situation while increasing efficiency. In this work Internet applications supporting teaching of agricultural engineering and also research management, were developed. Providing sequential educational materials prepared by agricultural engineering faculty members, the program allows them to verify in various forms students' achievements and to analyze the teaching process. Learning goals as well as verifying tests are based on static and dynamic pictures. Systems implementation was preceded by object modeling in the UML notation. Both latest Internet technological inventions, PHP 5 and ASP.NET, were selected. The two applications work with the SQL Server 2000 database system, supported by an original safety system developed for data confidentiality.
Proces kształcenia, z uwagi na swoją dynamikę obejmującą treści nauczania jak i jego formy organizacyjne stawia coraz większe wymagania pracownikom nauki. Konsekwencją tego jest permanentne uszczuplanie czasu przeznaczonego na badania naukowe. Częściową poprawę tego stanu rzeczy, przy jednoczesnym zwiększeniu efektywności nauczania możemy osiągnąć poprzez wykorzystanie specjalistycznych systemów informatycznych wspomagających proces kształcenia. Autorzy podjęli udaną próbę budowy aplikacji internetowej pomocnej w nauczaniu studentów w obszarze inżynierii rolniczej. Wspiera ona organizację procesu kształcenia, udostępnia sekwencyjnie materiały edukacyjnych przygotowane przez wykładowców, pozwala na różnorodne formy weryfikacji wiedzy studentów oraz dokonuje analizy procesu nauczania. Treści nauczania jak i pytania testowe bazują na stycznych i dynamicznych obrazach. Etapy poprzedzające implementację systemu obejmowały modelowanie obiektowe w notacji UML, czego efektem były wielopoziomowe diagramy przypadków użycia oraz diagramy klas. Jako narzędzia programistyczne wybrano jedną z najnowszych technologii internetowych, jakim jest PHP 5. Aplikacja współpracuje z systemem bazodanowym SQL Server 2000, a zaproponowany oryginalny system zabezpieczeń gwarantuje poufność danych.
