Opis:
This research aims to determine the amount of squid ink that can be added into the make up of tortilla chips in order to obtain the most preferred product according to organoleptic panelist preference. This research was carried out at the Fisheries Product Processing Laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University, which began on May 6, 2019 until May 10, 2019. The research was carried out experimentally and consisted of 4 squid ink treatments, namely, control, 0.75%, 1% and 1.25%. The parameters observed were the level of organoleptic preference (appearance, aroma, texture and taste) of tortilla chips and performed by 20 semi-trained panelists. The results of the study concluded that the addition of squid ink to the manufacture of Tortilla chips by 1% was the most preferred treatment, as based on organoleptic characteristics, with media values 7 and alternative values 7.62.

low magnetic field measurement
Opis:
We have developed a superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) system measuring nuclear magnetic precession at very low magnetic fields with a spectral resolution beyond the natural line width of liquids. A coil system applies a magnetic polarization field and a perpendicular static detection field to the sample. The detection system for the very weak magnetic field generated by the processing nuclei consists of LTc-SQUID sensors in a liquid helium cryostat. We measured the 'H precession signal of benzene, distilled water and chloroform samples at various detection fields. With our set-up. broad band detection of the nuclear magnetic resonance of the investigated liquids with a very high resolution is possible. Benzene showed the narrowest natural resonance line width of 0.12 Hz followed by chloroform of about 0.17 Hz. The observed line widths increased linearly with the detection field with a slope independent of the investigated sample. This increase is attributed to the inhomogeneity of the detection field, rather than to intrinsic properties of the investigated liquids, and thus describes the properties of our measurement system. Reliable low field NMR and MRI depend strongly on field homogeneity of the detection field coils and the residual field inside the agnetically shielded room. At such low fields, high demands on the absolute homogeneity of the static field correspond to very moderate requirements on its relative homogeneity 111. Reduction of these system parameters and its influence is the prerequisite for a good frequency and spatial resolution. Here, we investigated our SQUID measurement system and estimated all main system parameters at very low fields below a microtesla.

Opis:
An experimental system for noninvasive measurement of the iron stores in the liver of living human organism has been designed and realized. This system enables to test the presence and to determine the iron concentration in this organ. The principle of operation is based on measurement of small response (magnetic moment) of the paramagnetic protein ferritin to the applied magnetic field on the complex diamagnetic background of other body organs. The experiment was performed by modified SQUID system with the 2nd order gradiometer. At present, the sensitivity of the system is 1 mg Fe per gram of the wet liver, which from the point of view of clinical diagnostics, enables to indicate the state of the liver iron overload, e.g., in hemochromatosis and hemosiderosis.

Opis:
The complicated (H,T)-magnetic phase diagram of EuSe is caused by the critical balance between nearest and next nearest neighbour exchange interaction (J$\text{}_{NN}$=0.119 K and J$\text{}_{NNN}$=-0.1209 K) and leads to various spin arrangements NNSS..., NSN..., NNS, NNN... [NS denotes opposite ferromagnetic order in adjacent (111) planes]. Beside the subtle local exchange of 5d-t$\text{}_{2g}$ electrons and localized holes with neighbouring Eu-4f spins, obviously also the strain status influences the occurrence of these different phases. We investigate the magnetic ordering phenomenon in a strained 2.5 μm EuSe film on BaF$\text{}_{2}$ substrate by SQUID magnetometry and magneto-optics like spectral Faraday- and Kerr-effect measurements for temperatures from 2 K up to 200 K and for magnetic fields up to 5 T. The magneto-optical probe monitors the local environment of the photoexcited electron-hole pair, called magnetic exciton, located within a ferromagnetic surrounding (photoinduced magnetic polaron), whereas the integral magnetization measured by SQUID is most sensitive to long-range magnetic ordering. In spite of the dissimilarity of measurement techniques we find an influence of the long-range magnetic order (e.g. of the NNS- or NNN-matrix) on the non-resonant Kerr reflection. The complementarity of SQUID and magneto-optical methods is stringent only in the (resonant) spectral regime, where magnetic polarons are formed.

Opis:
We present the concept of unconventional and Field Induced Josephson junction (uJJ and FIJJ) and devices built from them. They can be made by placement of ferromagnetic strip on top of a superconducting strip. In such case modulation of superconducting order parameter and magnetization is obtained. Furthermore we can build tunable Josephson junction arrays, which can be tuned by applying external magnetic field to some circuit element(s). We present the superconducting order parameter distributions obtained from extended Ginzburg-Landau functional, which includes the coexistence of superconducting order parameter and magnetization. We present the case of SQUID built in uJJ and FIJJ architecture and current limiter.

Lyophilized samples of human brain tissue from the region of Globus Pallidus were investigated in powder form by $\text{}^{57}Fe$ Mössbauer spectroscopy and SQUID magnetometry. The obtained hyperfine parameters including isomer shift and quadrupole splitting exhibit a ferritin-like behaviour with high-spin Fe(III) sites. Three types of features were derived from temperature development of magnetic susceptibility: dominating diamagnetism, dominating paramagnetism, and intermediate states. The magnetic characteristics of the samples do not correlate with age of the donors.

Opis:
We describe an Olenekian (Early Triassic) “fossil squid” belonging to the oldest complex Mesozoic marine biota collected in the Lower Shale unit of the Lower Triassic Thaynes Group in Idaho, USA. The studied specimen shows a tapered structure embedded in a cylindrical soft body. Morphological, ultrastructural and geochemical features of the specimen suggest that it corresponds to an internally-shelled cephalopod exhibiting a tapered micro-laminated gladius with rachis, narrow median and lateral fields and a large conus; a pair of posterior large fin-supported cartilages and fins; ventral and dorsal mantle band-shape structures, the dorsal one being cartilaginous; mantle patches; a stomach containing undigested arm-hooks and sheet-like pieces of potential flooded ink. Coupled SEM/EDS analyses show that (i) arm-hooks and ink were pseudomorphed by nanoparticles (less than 0.6 mm in diameter) of carbon, (ii) gladius and soft tissues were substituted by granules of calcium phosphate, (iii) cartilage canalicula’s were partially filled with calcium phosphate grains and crystals of Zn- and S-containing minerals. The specimen was hence probably fossilized due to metabolism of P- and C-accumulating bacteria. Based on this specimen, Idahoteuthis parisiana Doguzhaeva and Brayard gen. et sp. nov. and Idahoteuthidae Doguzhaeva and Brayard fam. nov. are erected. This family is characterized by an elongated, cylindrical, dorsally cartilaginous muscular mantle; well-developed, about 0.2 mantle length, rounded anteriorly and acute posteriorly, fin-supported cartilages and similarly shaped two fins at conical mantle termination, and thin slender gladius with narrow median and lateral fields, rachis and breviconic conus. This family assumedly falls in Myopsida (Decabrachia). A streamlined body, large fin-supported cartilages and eroded arm-hooks in the stomach of Idahoteuthis Doguzhaeva and Brayard gen. nov. suggest that this was a maneuverable cannibal predator that dwelled in the subequatorial shallow sea of the west coast of Pangaea.

Opis:
The squid hepatopancreas, containing 20-60% lipids, is not suitable on board vessel for producing fodder meal and is often discarded, although it constitutes the major part of the viscera and is a rich source of proteolytic enzymes. The proteolytic activity against hemoglobin at pH 3.0 of the extract of the he pato pan ere a s of frozen stored squid, calculated per mg of protein, is about 20 times higher than that of the extract of the rest of the viscera. Due to incubation of the homogenate at pH 3.0 at 30 and 40°C in 2 days a clear watery phase was formed, well separated from the oily fraction containing floating solid particles of the autolysate. In 2 days about 35 and 50% of the protein was hydrolysed at 20°C and 30-40°C, respectively, to degradation products not precipitated by TCA. The proteolytic activity of the autolyzed homogenate after 2 days at pH 3.0 is about 80 % of that of the original homogenate. Incubation at 40°C at pH 3.0 decreased the activity after 6 days by about 50%. In the autolysate of squid hepatopancreas the proteolytic activity at pH 3.0 in the absence of reducing compounds was almost totally due to aspartic proteases. In the presence of dithiothreitol the activity increased by about 50%, but the increase was only partly due to the presence of thiol proteases.
