    The dynamic development of the sport due to the processes of globalization, commercialization and professionalization has led to an increase its importance for economies of the countries of the European Union. For more accurate description of this phenomenon, it became necessary to construct a new measurement tool. As an initiative of the European Commission in 2006 there was started a work of a Working Group on Sport and Economics. There was developed a detailed definition of sport and the methodology of the measurement what enabled to determine its added value and influence on employment in European Union. Use of new measurement tool on 2006 basis enabled to determined that added value of sports in term of statistical meaning was 28,16 bln EUR, the narrow was 112,18 bln EUR and the broad was 173,87 bln EUR. The percentages of the total number of employees amounted appropriately: 0,31%, 1,49% and 2,12%.

This article examines the profound impact of the pandemic on the sport of judo, exploring the adaptations, protocols, and challenges faced by the International Judo Federation (IJF), athletes, and organizers. The study analyzes the dynamics of the virus, preventive measures, and the development of judo-specific protocols, highlighting the need for a collective global response. Unique challenges faced by judo athletes, coaches, and organizers are discussed, including changes in training processes, isolation measures, and the economic impact on the sports industry. The study presents a detailed overview of the IJF's COVID-19 protocol, encompassing vaccination requirements, testing procedures, and entry conditions for participants. The judo community's response to the pandemic is contextualized within the broader context of global sports, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions and collaborative efforts. The article concludes with a comprehensive analysis of the financial implications of the pandemic on judo competitions, revealing a substantial increase in costs due to health and safety protocols. The global economic impact on the sports industry is outlined, emphasizing the need for targeted assistance and the exploration of digital solutions.

    The aim of the article is to create a benchmark for managers of sport venues concerning the form and the role of such facilities for urban tourism. The review of the literature in this domain has been done. Some examples of foreign sport venues have been a basis for the analysis. The closer attention has been paid to the most complex form of sport facilities called zone of sports-city. The examples of four sports-cities have been presented: SportCity in Manchester, International Sport Village in Cardiff, The Aspire Zone in Doha and Dubai Sports City. Finally, some conclusions have been drawn.

    Purpose: The main objective of the research presented in this article was to diagnose talent management in the Wrocław Taekwon-do Sports Club In order to achieve this goal, the first part of the article explains the meaning of the term „talent management" in the scientific literature on management, and then, on the basis of the research carried out, an attempt was made to answer the question: which factors are the key determinants of the talent management process. Design/methodology/approach: For the research presented in this paper, a literature analysis in the area of talent management. The studies in literature also included secondary sources, which were communications from research of similar scope. The combination of different research methods allowed to obtain a broader context of the studied phenomenon and ensured a higher quality of the conducted research. The diversity of methods was aimed at achieving a consistency of the empirical basis for the inference. A diagnostic survey was adopted as the leading method. The remaining methods applied in the paper were auxiliary (complementary). Findings: „Talent management" and having talented employees in a global economy is a strategically important resource affecting the market value of the organisation itself and providing a competitive advantage. Building a significant intellectual capital of the organisation requires the use of appropriate methods and tools to support the management, systematic measurement, constant comparison with competitors, elimination of barriers and use of opportunities for development (and such becomes the current crisis). Research limitations/implications: In the future, research will be continued on a larger research sample. Practical implications: The article presents the results of research carried out in one of Wrocław's sports clubs. The research results are very interesting and encourage more research. They are a valuable source of information for managers and coaches responsible for schools and the development of sports players. In turn, for those responsible for recruiting athletes, the results may be useful in terms of designing individual career paths of players. Originality/value Based on empirical research, the article proposes an original set of systemic solutions for talent management to improve organisational performance.

    For over 50 years the German sports subject compete with each other in the 1. Bundesliga. This competition is no longer limited only to sport aspect, but more and more it takes economic dimension. In 1998-2013 Sustainable Football Enterprise led to the situation where their combined turnover was 2 bln EUR, own capital 778.8 mln EUR, and the number of created jobs was 28 000. A good example of the transformation that those has gone through was the story of Borussia Dortmund. After transformation into a limited partnership it was decided to start the activity on the stock market, which resulted in gaining 143 mln EUR of capital. In case on this club focusing only on the sport dimension nearly led to bankruptcy. The implementation of the rescue plan associated with activity diversification, as well as the intense new sources of funding in 2011-2013, led to both success in sports and economic field.

    Koncepcja dziedzictwa masowych wydarzeń sportowych zarysowała się w latach 90 XX w. Wtedy też zrodziły się pierwsze pytania o plusy i minusy organizacji tego typu imprez, nie tylko w aspekcie gospodarczym, ale także ekologicznym i społeczno-kulturowym. W tym czasie zaczęto używać słowa „dziedzictwo” w dyskursie naukowym. Za granicą analizy skutków oddziaływania wydarzeń sportowych prowadzone są od kilkunastu lat. W Polsce jest to jednak temat stosunkowo rzadko poruszany w badaniach naukowych. Takie rozważania są natomiast niezwykle potrzebne, nie tylko dlatego, że już organizowaliśmy turniej piłkarski UEFA EURO 2012, ale także z powodu pojawienia się pierwszych prób organizacji igrzysk olimpijskich. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie bieżących trendów w zarządzaniu masowymi imprezami sportowymi na przykładzie igrzysk olimpijskich, tj. kreowania dziedzictwa w sferze ekonomicznej, ekologicznej oraz społeczno-kulturowej. Przedstawiono również polityczne aspekty organizacji tego największego święta sportu.
    The concept of sporting mega-events legacy was created in the 1990s. At that time, the first questions about the advantages and disadvantages of organizing this type of events arose, not only in the economic aspect but also in the ecological and socio-cultural context. Simultaneously, the notion of ‘legacy’ entered the scientific discourse. The effects of sporting events influence have been analysed for over a dozen years abroad. In Poland, however, it is not a frequent topic of scientific research, although this type of academic reflection is essential in our country, not only owing to the UEFA EURO 2012, which has already been organized, but also because of the first attempts to organize Olympic Games in Poland. The aim of this article is to show current sporting mega-events management trends on the example of Olympic Games, i.e. to outline the creation of the positive legacy in the economic, ecological, and socio-cultural spheres. Political aspects of organizing the largest sports celebration were also presented.

    The article depicts the transformation process of the Polish sport sector and explains the main reasons for which entrepreneurship thrives in that area. Taking into account a broad institutional, social and cultural context, the authors point out the main factors causing commercialization process of sport and recreation and describe its main manifestations. The article is bases on qualitative studies on sport management and entrepreneurship in Poland. The authors try to include points of view of different stakeholders on current changes in sport area.

    In the 1990s, there were significant social and economic changes in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), significantly impacting the sports sector’s development. After the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, CEE countries underwent a political, economic, and social transformation process, which also had significant consequences for the sports industry. One of the critical elements of the transformation was opening of borders, establishing business relations with Western Europe, and, subsequently, integrating most of CEE countries with the European Union. This new situation increased the possibility of the free movement of people, goods, and capital, translating into more sports investments. Although more than 30 years have passed since those political and social changes, we still see a need for highly skilled sports professionals in most postcommunist countries – the centrally controlled management model (still dominant in Poland and many CEE countries) is ineffective. Adopting a sustainable managerial approach is necessary, including harmonizing sports and economic goals and using strategies and tools used to manage other economic sectors. In the context of sport management, the managerial approach should ensure not only the achievement of sports success and the improvement of financial results (e.g., of a sports club), but also the undertaking of actions to promote physical activity and “sport for everyone” to build the health and sports potential of the whole society.

    Człowiek eksploatuje zasoby przyrodnicze również tam, gdzie na pierwszy rzut oka, nie jest to uzasadnione zapewnianiem sobie środków do egzystencji. Do takich działań zaliczyć można wędkarstwo, rozumiane jako forma rekreacji lub sportu związanego z użytkowaniem zasobów ryb. Perspektywa zmniejszenia liczebności, a nawet wyginięcia w wyniku przełowienia, wielu lokalnych populacji gatunków cennych wędkarsko sprawia, że indywidualni wędkarze coraz częściej zauważają swoją odpowiedzialność za stan środowiska, a świadomość ekologiczna prowadzi do konkretnych zachowań na łowisku. Jednym z przejawów troski o środowisko jest, coraz popularniejsze w naszym kraju, dobrowolne stosowanie wytycznych C&R (Catch and release – złów i wypuść), zasad postępowania ze złowionymi rybami, które wspomagają zrównoważoną eksploatację ichtiofauny. W ankiecie przeprowadzonej wśród wędkarzy łowiących na wodach Podkarpacia, badano stosunek do stosowania poszczególnych zasad C&R.
    The man exploits natural resources also when, at first sight, it is not necessary to maintain his existence. Angling, understood as a form of recreation or sport, associated with fish stocks usage, should be classified as that kind of activity. The prospect of significant reduction, or even extinction as a result of overharvest of many local populations of valuable species, cause that individual anglers more often recognizing their responsibility for the environment and leads towards increasing of environmental awareness and proper behavior in the fishery ground. One of the expressions of solicitude for the environment is, more and more popular among polish anglers, application to Catch and Release principles, which support the sustainable exploitation of fish fauna. In a survey conducted among anglers fishing in the Subcarpathian region (Poland), they were asked about the knowledge and approach to chosen C&R rules.

    To date, women are under-represented in most positions of authority, including sport leadership, not only in Poland, but also in most countries worldwide. Until recently, there has been no research on gendering of positions within Polish sports federations. The presented analysis employs Acker’s theory of gendered organization (1990, 1992) to explore professional experiences of men and women in positions of sport leadership in Polish national sports federations. The findings, based on 24 in-depth interviews, revealed that gender-based practices maintain gender imbalance in the studied organizations. The studied male leaders demonstrated a significant degree of sexism in their statements and justified gender inequalities by referring to biological essentialism. Further, the assumptions regarding masculinities as associated with leadership positions, liminal gender awareness and gender role stereotyping are the major obstacles faced by women in Polish national sports federations.

    Opis:
    The analysis of the world of sports may show the growing importance of amateur participation. However, some sports events (marathons and triathlon events) possibly should be seen as at least semiprofessional due to their difficulty and the necessity for intense trainings. In the last several years the number of running and triathlon events has been dynamically increasing. The popularity cannot be understood as a mere fad as the effort required within preparations for such contests is extraordinary. Such participation entails a new life style and amounts to a sign of a major change of people’s habits. The article deals with two closely interrelated topics – the quality of sports events and participant satisfaction. The article shows the principles of project management (including sports events) and presents the research conducted in a focus group whose aim was to define the key factors for a successful sports event (a long-distance run, a triathlon contest).
    Analiza zróżnicowanych źródeł dotyczących świata sportu ukazuje rosnące zainteresowanie treningami i startami w imprezach sportowych przez zawodników amatorów. Niektóre sportowe wydarzenia (biegowe i triathlony) powinny być postrzegane jako co najmniej półprofesjonalne w związku z ich trudnością dla uczestników i wymaganą od nich intensywnością przygotowań. W ostatnich latach liczba zorganizowanych wydarzeń triathlonowych oraz biegów maratońskich znacząco wzrosła. Ich popularność nie powinna być rozpatrywana wyłącznie w kategoriach mody, gdyż udział w takim przedsięwzięciu wymaga wiele wysiłku od uczestników, a także organizatorów. Udział ten związany jest często z istotną zmianą stylu życia i zazwyczaj staje się podstawą organizacji dnia, sposobu spędzania czasu wolnego. Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy dwóch wzajemnie powiązanych tematów - jakości zorganizowanego wydarzenia sportowego oraz satysfakcji jego uczestnika. Artykuł ukazuje główne zasady zarządzania projektami (także wydarzeniami sportowymi) i prezentuje wyniki badań przeprowadzonych w grupie focusowej, których celem było zdefiniowanie głównych aspektów udanego wydarzenia sportowego (na przykładzie biegów długodystansowych oraz triathlonów).

    W Polsce bardzo dynamicznie wzrasta zainteresowanie amatorskim bieganiem w tym biegami długodystansowymi, czego odzwierciedleniem jest istotny wzrost liczby wydarzeń sportowych, w tym maratonów i półmaratonów. Celem opisanych w artykule badań i ich wyników było oszacowanie ryzyka związanego z organizacją imprez biegowych w Polsce – półmaratonów. Przedstawiono wyniki odnoszące się do biegów zorganizowanych w 2018 r. Profesjonalne zarządzanie ryzykiem jest punktem wyjścia do realizacji celów stawianych przez organizatorów, w tym zapewnienie bezpieczeństwa i satysfakcji wszystkim zainteresowanym stronom uczestniczącym w wydarzeniu. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły na identyfikację czynników ryzyka oraz dokonanie szacowania ryzyka przez przedstawicieli organizatorów biegów. Identyfikacji dokonało 8 ekspertów (metoda delficka), a w szacowaniu ryzyka udział wzięło 24 przedstawicieli 11 biegów półmaratonów organizowanych w Polsce. Szacowaniem ryzyka dokonane zostało na podstawie średniej (skutku i prawdopodobieństwa). Wyniki badań dostarczają konkretnej informacji o priorytetach na jakich mogą się skupić organizatorzy imprez w celu mitygacji ryzyka, stanowią także podstawę do pogłębionych szacowań i analiz ryzyka dla analizy trendów oraz skuteczności podejmowanych działań mitygujących.
    The interest in amateur running (including long-distance runs) has been growing in a dynamic way for several years. It is reflected in a significant increase in the number of sports events including marathons and half marathons. The paper describes research aiming to estimate risk of organizing running events in Poland. The presented results refer to half marathons organized in 2018. Professional risk management is a starting point of realizing objectives set by organizers, including assuring safety and satisfaction of all interested parties. The conducted research (both preparatory and proper) has allowed for the identification of risk factors and estimating risk by the representatives of the runs' organizers. The identification was realized by 8 experts (the Delphi method), whereas there were 24 representatives of 11 half marathons in Poland engaged in the risk estimation. The latter was based on the average (of impact and probability). The present article does not present the results of the factor analysis and focuses, which complemented the result of risk estimation. The research results provide concrete information about the priorities on which event organizers may focus in order to mitigate risk. The results also amount to the basis of in-depth risk estimation and analysis for examining trends and the efficiency of undertaken mitigation actions.

    The study presents a phenomenological analysis of emotional immersion in fun, sport and management games. The analysis leads to some explanatory hypotheses, which answer the title question of the text. They come from some theories of rational action. According to them, two types of emotional immersion can take place: the one that meets the requirements of rationality and the one that does not meet them.

    In the early years of Communist rule in Poland sport was not crucial for the emerging communist government. Legal reformation of that significant to an average citizen issue was not in the area of interest of either Polish Workers' Party, or of Polish Socialist Party. It was only after the latter party started to prevail that a breakthrough was finally made. Political wrangling of two parties' leaders - manifested in gross negligence and lack of consistency in action - caused further deterioration of the situation. Appointment of successive temporary posts, whose responsibilities - though seemingly clear - were not fulfilled, caused new problems. It would seem that the overriding goal of the authorities (apart from internal struggle) was to please the Soviet Union at all costs. Due to that, the situation of sport in Poland was not improved until 1948, despite several attempts.

    Na przykładzie klubu piłkarskiego Legia Warszawa dokonano szerokiej analizy błędu popełnionego w zarządzaniu, którego konsekwencje doprowadziły do utraty przychodów finansowych, nieosiągnięcia celu sportowego oraz utraty reputacji. Klub piłkarski Legia Warszawa jako lider na rynku polskiej piłki nożnej stanowi kanwę do dyskusji nad jakością kadr zarządzających klubami piłkarskimi. W konkluzji autorka stwierdza, że tylko profesjonalne kadry zarządzające mogą zapewnić sukces klubu sportowego; w przypadku ich braku może dojść do sytuacji niepożądanej dla wszystkich interesariuszy klubu.
    On the example of the football club Legia Warsaw, the author describes and analyses a management mistake, which resulted in the loss of financial income, failure to achieve a sports goal, and loss of reputation. The Legia Warsaw football club, as a leader in the Polish football market, provides a setting to discuss the quality of management in football clubs. In conclusion, the author states that only professional management can assure a sports club success; otherwise the situation may turn out undesirable for all the club’s stakeholders.

    The objective of this article is a presentation of the results of research into sports clubs that operate as associations, specifically looking at their resource management— coaches and sports instructors. It is based on the results of research conducted by the author. The research was interpretive in nature. This does not make general conclusions possible. However, the empirical material can be a source of reflection as well as inspiration for further study.

    Physical activity is a basic factor of human development – it brings satisfaction, vitality, energy, has a therapeutic dimension and affects the quality of life. Among the large group of amateur athletes, there are people vulnerable to social exclusions related to disabilities, psychological dysfunctions, sex and social status. For these people sport is a cure for loneliness and lack of self-confidence, as well as it positively affects their motivation to overcome barriers, which is reflected in other spheres of their lives. One sport that in particular integrates different social groups is running, as confirmed by the growing number of amateur runners, training activities dedicated to them and running events organised for them. However, it is important that organisers of such events ensure the safety of participants and take care of their satisfaction and comfort by holistic planning of all organisational activities. The study hypothesised that factors concerning the safety, comfort and satisfaction of participants play a vital role in organising running events. The aim of the article was to identify and assess the risk of organising running competitions for amateurs in the context of ensuring safety and satisfaction for all participants of the event. In particular, the author noted the risk factors of a social nature, conducive to integration, associated with countering exclusions. The paper presents test results for national competitions involving 21 and 42 km runs. The identification of risk factors was performed by 10 experts (the Delphi method) and 27 representatives of 7 running events organised in Poland (2017–2018) (risk estimate, a questionnaire) took part in the risk estimation. Risk estimation was carried out on the basis of average (effect and probability). The results of the study provide unequivocal information about the spheres of organising sporting events which in the highest degree can affect the safety and comfort of their participants and the perception of the competition itself. Among the key risks there were: inadequate financial and organisational resources, route capacity, or technical problems. Moreover, the paper includes an attempt to discuss results of other research.
    Aktywność fizyczna jest podstawowym czynnikiem rozwoju człowieka – dostarcza satysfakcji, witalności, energii, ma wymiar terapeutyczny i oddziałuje na jakość życia. Liczną grupę sportowców amatorów tworzą osoby narażone na wykluczenia społeczne wynikające z niepełnosprawności, dysfunkcji psychicznych, płci, statusu społecznego czy innych przyczyn. Sport dla tych osób stanowi antidotum na samotność, brak pewności siebie oraz czynnik motywacyjny do pokonywania kolejnych barier, co przekłada się na inne sfery życia. Jednym ze sportów, który w szczególności integruje różne grupy społeczne, jest bieganie, czego potwierdzeniem jest rosnąca liczba biegaczy amatorów, zajęć treningowych im dedykowanych i organizowanych dla nich imprez biegowych. Ważne jest jednak, aby organizatorzy takich imprez zapewnili bezpieczeństwo uczestników oraz dbali o ich satysfakcję i komfort poprzez holistyczne planowanie wszystkich działań organizacyjnych. W pracy postawiono hipotezę badawczą, że czynniki dotyczące bezpieczeństwa oraz komfortu i satysfakcji uczestników odgrywają istotną rolę w organizacji imprez biegowych. Celem artykułu była identyfikacja i ocena ryzyka organizacji zawodów biegowych dla amatorów w kontekście zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa i satysfakcji wszystkim interesariuszom wydarzenia. W szczególności autor zwraca uwagę na czynniki ryzyka o charakterze społecznym, sprzyjające integracji, związane z przeciwdziałaniem wykluczeniom. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań dla krajowych zawodów obejmujących biegi na dystansie 21 i 42 km. Identyfikację czynników ryzyka wykonało 10 ekspertów (metoda delficka), a w szacowaniu ryzyka wzięło udział 27 przedstawicieli 7 imprez biegowych organizowanych w Polsce (2017–2018) (szacownie ryzyka, kwestionariusz). Szacowanie ryzyka dokonane zostało na podstawie średniej (skutku i prawdopodobieństwa). Rezultaty badania dostarczają jednoznacznych informacji o sferach organizacji imprez sportowych, które w najwyższym stopniu mogą rzutować na bezpieczeństwo i komfort ich uczestników oraz percepcję zawodów. Pośród kluczowych ryzyk znalazły się m.in. niedostateczne zasoby finansowe oraz organizacyjne, przepustowość trasy, problemy techniczne. Podjęto także dyskusję z wynikami innych badaczy, prowadzących badania w zakresie organizacji imprez sportowych i zarządzania ryzykiem.

    Artykuł jest próbą wstępnej identyfikacji głównych obszarów i aspektów zainteresowania sportem w naukach ekonomicznych, łącznie ze wskazaniem, jakie znajduje to odbicie w systemie rachunków narodowych. Autorzy rozpoczynają analizę od ujęcia mikroekonomicznego, zwracając przy tym uwagę na dystynkcję: sport jako hobby oraz sport jako zawód oraz znaczenie obu tych form aktywności sportowej z punktu widzenia poprawy jakości życia oraz wzrostu dobrobytu (dobrostanu). Wskazują też na czynniki, które we współczesnych gospodarkach i społeczeństwach zwiększają rolę sportu i kultury fizycznej w rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczym. Zwracają także uwagę na rosnący zakres współzależności zachodzących współcześnie między sportem hobbistycznym (amatorskim) a zawodowym. Podkreślają, że zainteresowania sportem z punktu widzenia ekonomii sportu i zarządzania sportem zawsze – zwłaszcza w przypadku współczesnego sportu wyczynowego – łączy się z wiedzą finansową. W drugiej części artykułu podjęto próbę konceptualnego wyodrębnienia sektora sportu jako części gospodarki. Autorzy identyfikują przy tym szersze i węższe ujęcia pomiaru statystycznego tego sektora w systemie rachunków narodowych. Przedstawiają też – w oparciu o literaturę przedmiotu – szacunki wielkości sektora sportu w krajach EU-27 z punktu widzenia udziału w wartości dodanej brutto, udziału w zatrudnieniu oraz zależności międzysektorowych (efekty mnożnikowe sportu). Szacunki te stanowią też ogólną podstawę dla rekomendacji dotyczących wykorzystania aktywności sportowych dla wspierania rozwoju gospodarczego.
    The paper is an attempt at preliminary identification of main areas and aspects of interest in sport in economic sciences, along with indication of how it is expressed in the system of national accounts. The authors start their analysis with a microeconomic approach within which they pay attention to the distinction between sports as a hobby and sports as a profession and the significance of those two forms of sport activity from the standpoint of the increase in life quality and welfare (well-being). They also indicate factors which increase the role of sports and physical education in socio-economic development in contemporary economies and societies. The authors pay also attention to growing interdependencies taking contemporarily place between doing sports as a hobby (amateur sports) and professional sports. Furthermore, they emphasize that interest in sport from the perspective of economics of sport and sports management is ever (and in the case of contemporary professional sports in particular) connected with the financial knowledge. In the second part of the paper, an attempt at conceptual recognition of sport sector as a part of the national economy has been undertaken. In this attempt, the authors identify a narrow and a broader concept of statistical measurement of this sector in the national accounts system. Based on the subject literature, they present estimates of the size of sport sector in the EU-27 countries from the point of view of gross value added (GDP), share in total employment and inter-sectoral relationships (multiplier effects of sport sector). Those estimates form the basis for recommendations concerning the use of sport activities for supporting the economic development.

    The term of office of the authorities of a Polish sports association may not be longer than 4 years, and the function of the president of the association’s management board may be held for no more than two consecutive terms. The Act on Sport also sets out a catalogue of prohibitions and restric‑ tions aimed at persons holding positions on the association’s management board. Recommendations and guidelines on the procedure for the election of the bodies of Polish sports associations, including the election of delegates, are set out in the “Code of Good Governance for Polish Sports Associations”, developed by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism.

    Quality of life is an ambiguous concept with a medical, sociological and economic dimension, as well as psychological, the most subjective one. Physical activity is considered one of the most important elements of a healthy lifestyle and a factor that determines the physical and mental health of an individual. The article presents the issue of physical activity in the aspect of quality of life management. It was found that respondents notice a very large relationship between sport and quality of life. The authors showed that it is very important in the quality of life management aspect not only to promote physical culture, but also to develop the habit of practicing it.

    The aim was to study the effect of a formative program about nutrition as well as weight management and its risks in elite gymnasts. The sample was 37 under-18 Spanish athletes from rhythmic and aesthetic gymnastics (national level). The sample was divided into a control group (n=21) and an intervention group (n=16). A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test was used. The dependent variable was the knowledge of nutrition, weight management, and its risks. The independent variable was the educational program. The program had three 30-minute sessions which combined talks, videos, and tasks to complete. Descriptive and inferential analyses were done. The educational program was ineffective with regard to increasing the gymnasts’ knowledge about nutrition, weight management, and its risks. The gymnasts’ knowledge of nutrition and weight management was high before beginning the intervention. Gymnasts and the coach expressed the need for individualized training adapted to each gymnast’s needs and for incorporating a follow-up that provides feedback that is applicable in the gymnast’s daily life.

    Polska piłka nożna po roku 1989 stanęła w obliczu rosnącego napływu piłkarzy zagranicznych. Rozwój gospodarczy kraju, poprawiające się warunki życia, ale także szersze inwestycje w sport powodują, że Polska staje się coraz atrakcyjniejszym miejscem dla wielu zawodników z całego świata. Autor artykułu skoncentrował się na zagadnieniu zatrudniania piłkarzy obcokrajowców w polskiej ekstraklasie piłkarskiej. Na podstawie danych statystycznych dokonał opisu zjawiska, zwracając uwagę zarówno na jego skalę i powszechność, jak też na regulacje ligowe, ograniczające napływ obcych piłkarzy, oraz sytuację młodych zawodników w kontekście tego zjawiska.
    Starting with 1989, Polish professional soccer has had to face a growing influx of foreign players. Economic development, improving living conditions, and wide–ranging investment in sport mean that Poland is becoming an increasingly attractive location for many professionals from throughout the world. The paper concentrates on the question of employing foreign soccer players in the top Polish league. Statistical data were used to describe the phenomenon, paying attention to both its scale and generality. It also looks at league rules, restrictions on the influx of foreign soccer players, and the situation of young people in the context of this phenomenon.

    Artykuł porusza kwestię wykorzystania analizy danych statystycznych do oceny zawodników klubów sportowych oraz oceny pracowników przedsiębiorstw. Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie genezy oraz omówienie przykładu zastosowania analizy statystyk w ocenie zawodników klubów sportowych, a także implikacja tego rozwiązania ze sportu na grunt teorii organizacji i zarządzania, celem wzbogacenia zestawu istniejących technik oceny pracowników przedsiębiorstwa. Najważniejszym wnioskiem płynącym z prowadzonych rozważań jest to, że szeroko wykorzystywaną w świecie sportu ocenę zawodników, opartą na statystykach, można adaptować na potrzeby biznesu – do oceny pracowników przedsiębiorstw komercyjnych, bowiem jest ona bardziej obiektywna niż ocena dokonywana przez menedżera czy specjalistę ds. HR. Podstawę prowadzonych w ramach artykułu rozważań stanowią pogłębione studia literaturowe. Opracowanie zostało wzbogacone o studium przypadku prezentujące wykorzystanie analizy danych statystycznych w sporcie.
    This article presents the issue of usage the statistics analysis to sport clubs players and company employees assessment. The main aim of the study is to present the genesis and discuss the example of usage statistics analysis in sport clubs players assessment, as well as, the implication of this solution from the sport to the ground of organization and management theory, in order to extend the set of existing techniques employees assessment. The most important conclusion from this study tell us, that players assessment basing on statistics analysis, which is widely use in sport, can be adopted to business – to employees assessment, because it is more precise than subjective manager or HR specialist assessment. Author make their reflections on the basis of in-depth literature studies. The article has been supplemented by the case study of statistics analysis in sport.

    Imprezy masowe stanowią istotny element funkcjonowania współczesnych miast, a  ich organizacja wymaga stworzenia właściwej infrastruktury spełniającej standardy wynikające z  regulacji formalno-prawnych oraz związanych ze specyfiką branżową organizowanego przedsięwzięcia. Odpowiednia infrastruktura logistyczna stanowi podstawę kreowania systemu bezpieczeństwa przeprowadzanego przedsięwzięcia oraz w istotny sposób wpływa na poziom obsługi klienta (widza). Dlatego też celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie najważniejszych uwarunkowań w obszarze infrastruktury logistycznej związanych z organizacją i przeprowadzeniem imprezy masowej o charakterze sportowym i rozrywkowym, determinowanych specyfiką imprezy, jaką są pokazy jeździeckie, oraz wymogami formalnymi wynikającymi z ustawy o bezpieczeństwie imprez masowych.  
    Mass events are an important element for the functioning of modern cities. Their organization requires the creation of appropriate infrastructure that meets the standards resulting from formal and legal regulations and related to the specific of industry (sector). Suitably logistics infrastructure is the basis for creating a security system carried out the project and significantly affects the level of customer service (the viewer). Therefore, the aim of this article is to present the most important determinants in the area of logistics infrastructure connected with the organization and execution of an event of mass sports and entertainment, determinate by specifics of events that are riding shows and formal requirements under the Act for the Safety of Mass Events.

    Pomimo swojej popularności – coaching nie doczekał się jak dotąd zarysu historycznego w polskim piśmiennictwie, wyłączając publikacje powielające lakoniczny przegląd ważniejszych wydarzeń w kształtowaniu się tej metody. Celem przedłożonego artykułu jest przedstawienie koncepcji, jakie wywarły szczególny wpływ na genezę wczesnej formy coachingu. Przenikanie się tych różnorodnych założeń i teorii nazwano interferencją idei, gdyż coaching powstał na styku kilku dziedzin – przede wszystkim psychologii sportu, zarządzania oraz counselingu. Podjęto nadto próbę weryfikacji uproszczeń i przeinaczeń, jakie występują w piśmiennictwie dotyczącym coachingu. Za cezurę uznano rok 1974, w którym ukazała się książka Timothy’ego Gallweya The inner game of tennis, uważana przez wielu autorów za przełomową dla opisywanej przedmiotu. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi polemikę z tym stanowiskiem.
    Despite its popularity – coaching is not described in the Polish scientific literature in the historical context, excluding publications repeated terse overview of the most important events in the development of this method. The aim of the article is to present the concept, which had special impact on the origination of the early forms of coaching. The mutual influence of these concepts called interference of ideas, because coaching was formed at the junction of several fields – primarily sports psychology, management and counseling. There is also attempt to verify simplifications and distortions that exist in the literature on coaching. The caesura is 1974, when was published a book of Timothy Gallwey – The inner game of tennis, considered by many authors as groundbreaking for this method. This article is a polemic with this opinion.

    Zdefiniowanie sukcesu przedsiębiorstwa jest bardzo trudne. Nawet dla jednej branży nie istnieje uniwersalna definicja. Zagadnienie to jest bardziej złożone w przypadku klubów sportowych, działają one bowiem w bardzo różnych obszarach. Pierwsza trudność to identyfikacja tych obszarów. Drugą jest identyfikacja celów przedsiębiorstwa sportowego. W artykule przedstawiono autorski model pozwalający na identyfikację płaszczyzn działania klubu sportowego i związanych z nimi płaszczyzn sukcesu: sportowej, wizerunkowej, finansowej i marketingowej. Określono także cele, które prowadzą do sukcesu. Na końcu przedstawiono rekomendacje dla polskich klubów piłkarskich.
    Defining business success is very difficult. Even for one industry, there is no universal definition. The case is more difficult in the case of sports clubs. Sports clubs operate in various areas. The first difficulty is identifying these areas. The second is to identify the goals of the sports enterprise. The researcher in the article identified the areas of activity of the sports club. Later he defined his goals that lead to success. The article presents the author's model of the researcher. The implementation of goals in given planes contributes to the company's success. The company's successes at various levels pursue the overarching goal. The main goal of a sports club is its survival and functioning on a professional level. Identified levels of success are: sports, image, financial and marketing success. The achievement of these successes is possible thanks to minor goals. In the last part, the researcher outlined guidelines for Polish football clubs.

    The objective of this study was an attempt at evaluating the management style applied to a sports team by its coach as perceived by sixteen to eighteen year old male and female volleyball players. The criterion of sex is a significant factor in assessing the management style for the sports team as chosen by the coach. The assessment is probably the result of physical, physiological, and psychological differences between young men and women. Mutual relations seen in communications as well as atmosphere present during training and in the approach to team problems is determined by management style. The management style model should take into account the expectations of players, both male and female, not exclusively methods, forms, and means making possible good results. The role of the coach in the training process is not limited to rationalizing management decisions, but also in care over the implementation of coaching competencies.
    Celem badań była próba oceny stylu kierowania zespołem sportowym przez trenera w świadomości 16-18-letnich siatkarek i siatkarzy. Kryterium płci jest istotnym czynnikiem w ocenie stylu kierowania zespołem sportowym przez trenera. Ocena ta prawdopodobnie wynika z różnic fizycznych, fizjologicznych i psychologicznych pomiędzy młodymi kobietami i mężczyznami. Wzajemne relacje przejawiające się w komunikacji i atmosferze panującej na treningach oraz w podejściu do rozwiązywania problemów zespołu determinowane są stylem kierowania. Model stylu kierowania powinien uwzględniać oczekiwania zawodniczek i zawodników, a nie wyłącznie metody, formy i środki pozwalające uzyskiwać wysokie wyniki sportowe. Rolą trenera w procesie szkoleniowym jest nie tylko racjonalizacja decyzji kierowniczych, ale również dbałość o realizację kompetencji trenerskich.
