    Opis:
    The article deals with the specific cultural and language relations between the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. It especially focuses on the interlingual relations between the two states, taking into account the peculiarities of Czech-Slovak bilingualism in the media against the background of the social changes after the split of Czechoslovakia. The distinction between bilingualism and semi-communication is explained. Attention is paid to interlingual relations, especially the presence of perceptive bilingualism, the divergence of the two languages, the cultural exchange between the two nations, and the status of the Slovak language in the Czech media environment – namely its presence on TV, the radio, in the press and in cultural life in general.
    W artykule opisano specyficzne relacje kulturowe i językowe między Republiką Czeską a Republiką Słowacką. W szczególności autorka koncentruje się na relacjach międzyludzkich między tymi dwoma państwami, biorąc pod uwagę specyfikę czesko-słowackiej dwujęzyczności w mediach na tle zmian społecznych po rozpadzie Czechosłowacji. Rozróżnia dwujęzyczność i semikomunikację. Ponadto zwraca uwagę na stosunki międzyjęzykowe, szczególnie na obecność dwujęzyczności pasywnej, rozbieżności między dwoma językami, wymiany kulturowej między tymi dwoma narodami oraz na status języka słowackiego w czeskim środowisku medialnym, tj. obecność w telewizji, radiu, w prasie i ogólnie w życiu kulturalnym. Tekst przygotowano w ramach projektu badawczego wspieranego przez Agencję Grantową Ministerstwa Edukacji Słowacji (KEGA) nr 014UCM-4/2016 pt. „English for Students of Mass Media Communication”.

    Opis:
    It was Einar Haugen (1966) who introduced into linguistics the term semi-communication. He examined the means of verbal communication in a group of three Scandinavian languages, the interlocutors of which used different language codes in one communication act. Asymmetry of such a discourse is manifested by a communiqué formulated in one mother tongue and perceived by a recipient on the basis of his/her own vernacular code knowledge. This article aims at analysing means and forms of Czech-Polish semi-communication via SMS. The investigation indicates that writers used in their SMS messages intended for the other-language recipients especially those linguistic means, by which they seek to increase the clarity of text messages intended for recipients – speakers of closely related (West Slavonic) languages.

    Semi-communication as a limited form of verbal communication in the linguistic literature has been taken into consideration, especially in relation to the Danes, Swedes and Norwegians. The author compares some characteristic features of the communication between the Czechs, the Poles and the Slovaks. The author presents some common and a number of distinctive features. For example, there is a different inverse proportion between the comprehension of written and spoken language. A special attention is given to the similarity of the role (contributing element) of social, cultural and political phenomena, compensating differences in language systems communicating with groups of users in multiple languages. In this paper, the author also indicates a creation of a new language as one of the results of the Czech and Slovak communication. The author also incorporates in semi-communication the verbal contact of users of regional dialects and the standard language.

    Opis:
    The individual identification of communication emitters is a process of identifying different emitters based on the radio frequency fingerprint features extracted from the received signals. Due to the inherent non-linearity of the emitter power amplifier, the fingerprints provide distinguishing features for emitter identification. In this study, approximate entropy is introduced into variational mode decomposition, whose features performed in each mode which is decomposed from the reconstructed signal are extracted while the local minimum removal method is used to filter out the noise mode to improve SNR. We proposed a semi-supervised dimensionality reduction method named exponential semi-supervised discriminant analysis in order to reduce the high-dimensional feature vectors of the signals, and LightGBM is applied to build a classifier for communication emitter identification. The experimental results show that the method performs better than the state-of-the-art individual communication emitter identification technology for the steady signal data set of radio stations with the same plant, batch and model.

    Undoubtedly, phraseological units constitute one of the most fascinating aspects of the language, especially with regard to their illustrative and often abstract meaning contrasted with their equivalents in other languages. Describing the same phenomena, they often emphasise distinct elements. For instance, in English one can lie through one’s teeth, however, one neither needs teeth to lie in Polish, as eyes are indispensable (kłamać komuś w żywe oczy), nor in German – in this case, all that is necessary is somebody’s face (jemandem glatt ins Gesicht lügen). In order to beat about the bush, cotton is required in Polish (owijać w bawełnę) and flowers in German (etwas durch die Blumen sagen). Nevertheless, in some cases the equivalence rate is considerably high (lay one’s cards on the table – wyłożyć karty na stół – die Karten offen auf dem Tisch legen). However, speaking off the cuff has hardly anything in common with its German equivalent (aus dem hohlen Bauch heraus sprechen), whereas the Polish equivalent (mówić bez przygotowania) is not even deemed a phraseological unit at all. This article is an attempt at a comparative analysis of selected English, German, and Polish phraseological expressions concerning human communication with regard to both their idiomaticity degree in accordance to typologies by Harald Burger (2010), Christiane Römer and Brigitte Matzke (2005) and the represented equivalence type, based on classifications by Hessky (1992), and Laskowski (2003). Finally, the question regarding the linguistic worldview, the origin of convergences and divergences between the aforementioned expressions, is touched upon.

    User authentication is an essential element of any communication system. The paper investigates the vulnerability of the recently published first semiquantum identity authentication protocol (Quantum Information Processing 18: 197, 2019) to the introduced herein multisession attacks. The impersonation of the legitimate parties by a proper combination of phishing techniques is demonstrated. The improved version that closes the identified loophole is also introduced.
