Opis:
In this paper, the route prediction for a person in water was performed on the basis of a developed graph algorithm. This person drifted in water under the influence of surface currents and wind. The total drift route for the person in water was established as the route in a weighted directed graph. Vertices of this graph correspond to given points within a given basin. Additionally, the graph’s edges show possible directions of the overall human drift. The weight of the given edge describes the difference between the gradient of the edge and the total drift direction calculated on the basis of surface current field data and wind field data. An application has been created on the basis of a given algorithm which might be used to support the search for survivors in coastal areas (e.g. port basins, basins adjacent to the port, bays and sea areas) for which hydrodynamic models reliably reflect local phenomena.

The shortest path problem is one of the most significant ones in the field of maritime navigation. One of the most efficient algorithms was proposed by E. Dijkstra in 1959. Taking into account the development of computer technology was offered another interesting approach to the issue. The main idea is to execute the shortest path algorithm simultaneously forward from the source and backward from the target. The results are presented and discussed.

This paper proposes a model of the interactions between surface currents and small, moving objects. These objects are immersed in water so that the part extending above the water is no larger than a human head. These interactions are defined as the weighted-directed graph. The basis for determining the edge weights are the directions of the surface currents. The speeds of these currents are used to calculate the time of moving objects. According to the modelling method of the surface-current influence on small objects, presented in this paper, it is possible to implement an application supporting search-and-rescue-operation planning. This method can be used to locate small objects, such as survivors, when planning search-and-rescue operations. Thus, the routes of these objects moving together with surface-water masses can be predicted using this method.

Basic problem in design of an AUV as a platform that will be used for detailed area search, is selection of space imaging equipment. It is followed by selection of navigation equipment required to achieve high resolution picture of searched area. As indicated in our former presentations, we are looking for resolution of 50 mm required to identify mine like objects. This regards objects resting on the bottom or buried in sediments. Two types of side scan sonars can be considered for detection and identification of bottom objects. Due to size, weight and power restrictions, a short range, high frequency sonar capabilities were found to be suitable for the task. Recent advances in SAS technology offer new capabilities regarding Search rate and resolution, but introduces additional requirements to a platform.

On a daily basis, Google’s algorithm plays a decisive role in determining the success or failure of web content. Authors must not only consider linguistic norms and conventions, which have been thoroughly explored in the literature on the subject, but also adhere to Google’s guidelines and the suggestions of SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) experts in order to optimise their content for a high position in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). This process is highly complex, as it depends on the continuous updates of the search engine and requires consideration of all the services provided by Google—such as YouTube, Images, and Discover, among others—to meet the diverse needs of its users. Moreover, if necessary, the significant impact of social media, which is in some way connected with search engines, cannot be underestimated. It is evident that the search engine induces certain linguistic usages and trends, and its important role must be acknowledged in providing a clear and impartial view of such phenomena. In the context of web writing, the practice of “hyper-planning” is a fundamental aspect that is largely dependent on Google’s guidelines, as well as authors’ adherence to official guidelines, SEO manuals, and case studies. This approach embodies a markedly distinct attitude from the nonchalant approach often associated with web writing. This work is based on a corpus of 40 online guides and aims to illustrate the influence of the search engine on editorial choices concerning the lexicon (as part of “surface” planning), textuality, syntax, and content structure (as part of a more “deep” planning).
Con il proprio algoritmo Google decreta quotidianamente il successo o l’insuccesso dei contenuti pubblicati nel web. Gli autori devono tener conto tanto della norma linguistica e più in generale della forma, già attentamente studiate dalla letteratura scientifica sull’argomento, quanto delle linee guida di Google e dei suggerimenti degli esperti SEO (Search Engine Optimization) sull’ottimizzazione dei contenuti per il posizionamento vincente nella SERP. Si tratta di un’attività molto complessa che dipende anche dagli aggiornamenti continui del motore di ricerca e che non può escludere né i molti servizi messi a disposizione da Google per soddisfare i bisogni dell’utenza (YouTube, Immagini, Discover ecc.) né, là dove necessario, il peso dei social media. Alcuni usi e alcune tendenze sono quindi evidentemente indotti dal motore di ricerca, il cui il ruolo non può essere affatto sottovalutato per restituire una visione chiara e non parziale dei fenomeni linguistici. L’“iper-pianificazione” è senza dubbio uno degli aspetti fondamentali della scrittura in rete che dipendono in buona parte da Google e soprattutto dall’idea che l’autore ha maturato su questo tipo di scrittura seguendo le linee guida ufficiali, la manualistica SEO, i case study ecc. Essa è frutto di un atteggiamento quasi opposto alla disinvoltura in genere attribuita a tali scritture. Questo lavoro, basato su un corpus di quaranta guide online, mira a illustrare con gli esempi più rilevanti quanto il motore di ricerca abbia influenzato le scelte editoriali sul lessico, che rientrano in una pianificazione “di superficie”, e quelle sulla testualità, sulla sintassi e sulla presentazione dei contenuti, relative una pianificazione più “profonda”.

Kształtowanie się śródmieścia Białegostoku w okresie powojennym, a szczególnie jego centralnej części, jest tematem badań autora. Dotychczas w dostępnych publikacjach na ten temat wypowiadały się osoby bezpośrednio zaangażowane w proces prac planistycznych - Helena Sawczuk-Nowara oraz Henryk Majcher. Uzasadnione wydaje się przeanalizowanie koncepcji planistycznych i urbanistycznych, które wpłynęły na ostateczny kształt i wizerunek dzisiejszego śródmieścia Białegostoku. W artykule przeanalizowane zostały pierwsze plany perspektywiczne z lat 50-tych i 60-tych, które określały program funkcjonalno-przestrzenny tego terenu po zniszczeniach wojennych. A następnie realizacje z końca lat 50-tych, 60-tych i projekty koncepcyjne z lat 70-tych. Zrealizowane fragmenty tych wizji są niepełne bez zrozumienia szerszego kontekstu projektów urbanistycznych i założeń funkcjonalnych, w których były osadzone. Dotyczy to szczególnie elementów centro-twórczych w obecnej strukturze współczesnego ścisłego centrum Białegostoku. Przesunięcie ośrodka centralnego i zaprogramowanie w jego obrębie najważniejszych instytucji publicznych, w tym centrotwórczych było decyzją odważną. Natomiast brak realizacji tego ośrodka w okresie późniejszym i próby obecnych przekształceń leżą u podstaw dzisiejszych problemów miasta i braku możliwości utworzenia nowych czytelnych centralnych przestrzeni miasta odnoszących jego prestiż.
Development of Bialystok downtown in the postwar period, especially its medieval part, is the subject of the author’s research. So far, in the available publications on the subject spoke people directly involved in the planning activities, they were Helena Sawczuk-Nowara and Henryk Majcher. It seems reasonable to examine the concept of planning and urban planning that influenced the final shape and the image of today’s downtown of Bialystok. The article were analyzed the first long-term plans of the 50’s and 60’s, which defined the functional and spatial program of the area after the war. And then the realization of the late 50’s, 60’s and conceptual designs of the 70’s. Completed portions of these visions are incomplete without understanding the broader context of urban design and functional requirements where they were seated. This applies particularly to the issues center-creative in the current structure of the modern center of Bialystok. Moving the central site and programmed within it the most important public institutions and centro-creative was a courageous decision. In contrast, the lack of implementation of this facility at a later date and try to present transformations underlying the present problems of the city and it was impossible to create the central area of the city to enhance its prestige.

Celem artykułu jest zastosowanie wielokryterialnego podejścia do planowania MOO (Multi Objective Optimisation) sieci łączności bezprzewodowej WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) z wykorzystaniem wybranych rojowych metod optymalizacji. W tym celu, w procesie poszukiwania ekstremów dwóch funkcji kryterialnych, które są wskaźnikiem optymalizacyjnych, zastosowano dwa algorytmy rojowe: kukułki MOCS (Multi Objective Cuckoo Search) oraz optymalizacji rojem cząstek MOPSO (Multi Objective Particle Swarm Optimisation). Wyniki porównano z jednokryterialnym SOO (Single Objective Optimisation) zasięgowym planowaniem sieci bazującym na regularnym rozmieszczeniu punktów testujących TP (test point) z wykorzystaniem rojowego algorytmu kukułki CS (Cuckoo Search).
The aim of the article is to apply a multicriteria approach to MOO (Multi Objective Optimization) planning for WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) using selected swarm optimization methods. For this purpose, in the process of searching for the extremum of two criterion functions, which are an optimization index, two swarm algorithms were used: MOCS (Multi Objective Cuckoo Search) and MOPSO (Multi Objective Particle Swarm Optimization). The results were compared with the single-criterion SOO (Single Objective Optimization) range-based network planning based on the regular distribution of TP (test point) using the CS Cuckoo Search algorithm.

This paper aims at planning an optimal point to point path for a flexible manipulator under large deformation. For this purpose, the researchers use a direct method and meta-heuristic optimization process. In this paper, the maximum load carried by the manipulator and the minimum transmission time are taken as objective functions of the optimization process to get optimal path profiles. Kinematic constraints, the maximum velocity and acceleration, the dynamic constraint of the maximum torque applied to the arms and also the constraint of final point accuracy are discussed. For the optimization process, the Harmony Search (HS) method is used. To evaluate the effectiveness of the approach proposed, simulation studies are reviewed by considering a two-link flexible manipulator with the fixed base. The findings indicate that the proposed method is in power of dealing with nonlinear dynamics of the system. Furthermore, the results obtained by rigid, small and large deformation models are compared with each other.

The paper presents a two-stage, global planning algorithm for the waypoint-following task realized by a unicycle-like robot in a clutiered environment. It assumes motion execution with the VFO (Vector Field Orientation) controller. The planner is a result of a controllerdriven design process and exploits particular properties of the VFO controller. Emphasis has been put on the plan safety in the sense of maximizing the distance from the obstacles. In the first stage of planning, an A*-like pathfinding algorithm is used to find a safe geometric plan (i.e. a polyline) in a two-dimensional occupancy grid. During the second stage, a sequence of waypoint posi tions is selected from the geometric plan and reference orientations at the waypoints are planned. Orienta tion planning exploits properties of the VFO controller used for subsequent motion execution. Proposed twostage algorithm admits changes of robot motion strategy (forward/backward movement) and has lower computational cost than the full configuration space search. Performance of the algorithm can be intuitively tuned with provided design parameters.

The paper presents results of ship's safe trajectory planning algorithms verification. Real navigational data registered from a radar with an Automatic Radar Plotting Aid on board the research and training ship Horyzont II were used as input data to the algorithms. The algorithms verified in the presented research include the Ant Colony Optimization algorithm (ACO), the Trajectory Base Algorithm (TBA), the Visibility Graph-search Algorithm (VGA) ant the Discrete Artificial Potential Field algorithm (DAPF). Details concerning data registration and exemplary results obtained with the use or real navigational data are introduced and summarized in the paper. Presented results prove the applicability of proposed algorithms for solving the ship's safe trajectory planning problem.

The paper presents a novel Iterated Local Search (ILS) algorithm to solve multi-item multi-family capacitated lot-sizing problem with setup costs independent of the family sequence. The model has a direct application to real production planning in foundry industry, where the goal is to create the batches of manufactured castings and the sequence of the melted metal loads to prevent delays in delivery of goods to clients. We extended existing models by introducing minimal utilization of furnace capacity during preparing melted alloy. We developed simple and fast ILS algorithm with problem-specific operators that are responsible for the local search procedure. The computational experiments on ten instances of the problem showed that the presence of minimum furnace utilization constraint has great impact on economic and technological conditions of castings production. For all test instances the proposed heuristic is able to provide the results that are comparable to state-of-the art commercial solver.

The article presents the impact of ideas contained in utopian conceptions of cities on the development of the urban-planning thought. While analyzing the development of town- planning throughout centuries, it is possible to conclude that the utopian (seemingly unreal) assumptions of proposed models did find their reflection in urban-planning conceptions which provided the springboard for concrete designs of real cities. The author makes a review of the most significant visions of the utopian city, ones that appeared in all epochs, beginning with the ancient conception included in Plato’s Republic through Thomas Moore’s Utopia, campanelli’s Civitas Solis, designs of the 19th-century utopians and attempts at their realization, well into the 20th-century instances of implementation of social models which can also be included into utopian conceptions of the city. The principles behind city-planning in the 20th century were – to the greatest extent – influenced by three conceptions: Howard’s garden, le corbusier’s ville radieuse and F.l. Wright’s Broadcare city, all of them containing an element of utopian conceptions. The author emphasizes the special influence of such conceptions on setting directions to designing cities which are expected to cater for social needs.
W artykule przedstawiono wpływ idei zawartych w utopijnych koncepcjach miasta na rozwój myśli urbanistycznej. Analizując rozwój planowania miast na przestrzeni wieków można dostrzec, że te utopijne /z pozoru nierealne/ założenia proponowanych modeli znalazły odzwierciedlenie w koncepcjach urbanistycznych, które stały sie punktem wyjścia dla konkretnych projektów miasta rzeczywistego. W artykule przypomniano najważniejsze wizje miasta utopijnego, które pojawiały sie we wszystkich epokach od starożytnej koncepcji zaprezentowanej w Państwie Platona, przez Utopie Tomasza Morusa, civitas Solis Campanelli, projekty dziewiętnastowiecznych utopistów i próby ich realizacji po dwudziestowieczne przykłady realizacji modeli społecznych, które również zaliczyć można do utopijnych koncepcji miasta. Na zasady planowania miast w dwudziestym wieku w największym stopniu wpłynęły trzy koncepcje – miasto ogród Howarda, ville radieuse le corbusier’a, i Broadacre city F. l. Wrighta – przy czym wszystkie trzy zawierały element koncepcji utopijnych. W artykule podkreślono szczególny wpływ koncepcji utopijnych na ukierunkowanie projektowania miast na potrzeby społeczne.

Searching for the shortest-path in an unknown or changeable environment is a common problem in robotics and video games, in which agents need to update maps and to perform re-planning in order to complete their missions. D* Lite is a popular incremental heuristic search algorithm (i.e., it utilizes knowledge from previous searches). Its efficiency lies in the fact that it re-expands only those parts of the search-space that are relevant to registered changes and the current state of the agent. In this paper, we propose a new D* Extra Lite algorithm that is close to a regular A*, with reinitialization of the affected search-space achieved by search-tree branch cutting. The provided worst-case complexity analysis strongly suggests that D* Extra Lite’s method of reinitialization is faster than the focused approach to reinitialization used in D* Lite. In comprehensive tests on a large number of typical two-dimensional path-planning problems, D* Extra Lite was 1.08 to 1.94 times faster than the optimized version of D* Lite. Moreover, while demonstrating that it can be particularly suitable for difficult, dynamic problems, as the problem-complexity increased, D* Extra Lite’s performance further surpassed that of D*Lite. The source code of the algorithm is available on the open-source basis.

Opis:
Monitoring of biological and chemical pollutants in large bodies of water requires the acquisition of a large number of in-situ measurements by a mobile sensor platform. Critical to this problem is an efficient path planning method, easily adaptable to different control strategies that ensure the collection of data of the greatest value. This paper proposes a deliberative path planning algorithm, which features the use of waypoints for a ship navigation trajectory that are generated by Genetic Algorithm (GA) based procedures. The global search abilities of Genetic Algorithms are combined with the heuristic local search in order to implement a navigation behaviour suitable to the required data collection strategy. The adaptive search system operates on multi-layer maps generated from remote sensing data, and provides the capacity for dealing with multiple classes of water pollutants. A suitable objective function was proposed to handle different sampling strategies for the collection of samples from multiple water pollutant classes. A region-of-interest (ROI) component was introduced to deal effectively with the large scale of search environments by pushing the search towards ROI zones. This resulted in the reduction of the search time and the computing cost, as well as good convergence to an optimal solution. The global path planning performance was further improved by multipoint crossover operators running in each GA generation. The system was developed and tested for inland water monitoring and trajectory planning of a mobile sample acquisition platform using commercially available satellite data.

Opis:
Niniejszy artykuł dotyczy prac nad przygotowaniem internetowego przeglądu rozstrzygnięć nadzorczych wojewodów, dotyczących planów miejscowych. Celem uruchomienia przeglądu jest zaprezentowanie i poszerzenie wiedzy o przyczynach zakwestionowania przez wojewodów procedur lub zapisów planów miejscowych lub ich części. Stwierdzono, że należy stworzyć możliwość wyszukiwania prezentowanych rozstrzygnięć zarówno według województw, jak i kilku najczęściej występujących grup problemów: procedura i dokumentacja oraz kompetencje organów, środowisko przyrodnicze (ochrona środowiska, ochrona przyrody), ochrona dóbr kultury, komunikacja, infrastruktura techniczna, mapy i grafika. Na stronie internetowej Instytutu Rozwoju Miast utworzona została Wyszukiwarka rozstrzygnięć (http://irm.krakow.pl/pl/wyszukiwarka_rozstrzygniec.html), gdzie zaprezentowano rozstrzygnięcia nadzorcze z województw: dolnośląskiego, kujawskopomorskiego, lubelskiego, łódzkiego, małopolskiego, mazowieckiego, opolskiego, podkarpackiego, podlaskiego, świętokrzyskiego oraz zachodniopomorskiego.
This paper concerns works on the preparation of the Internet review of supervisory settlements made by governors in respect of local area development plans. The goal of the project is to present and extend knowledge on reasons of questioning by governors procedures or provisions of local area development plans, or parts thereof. The authors have found that it would be necessary to provide the possibility of searching for settlements included in the database both according to regions, and according to several groups of problems that appear most often, such as procedures and documentation and authorities' competence, natural environment (preservation of environment and nature), preservation of cultural heritage, transport, technical infrastructure, maps and graphics. The Internet page of the Institute of Urban Development has been provided with a special tool – a special search engine (http://irm.krakow.pl/pl/wyszukiwarka_rozstrzygniec.html), which shows supervisory settlements made by governors from the following regions: Dolnośląskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Lubelskie, Łódzkie, Małopolskie, Mazowieckie, Opolskie, Podkarpackie, Podlaskie, Świętokrzyskie, and Zachodniopomorskie.

Horizon scanning is being increasingly regarded as an instrument to support strategic decision making. It requires the systematic examination of data to identify potential threats and opportunities to improve resilience and decrease risk exposure. Horizon scanning may benefit from various retrieval techniques to augment the acquisition of data, though this involves a search for novel and emerging issues without knowing them beforehand. To optimise such a search, we propose the use of relevance feedback, which involves human interaction in the retrieval process so as to improve the results. As a proof-of-concept demonstration, we have carried out a horizon scanning exercise which showed that our utilisation of relevance feedback for horizon scanning applications was able to maintain the retrieval of relevant documents constant over the entire length of the experiment, without any reduction. This represents an improvement over previous studies where relevance feedback was not considered.

The implementing of a multiannual program for the promotion of energy efficiency (SAVE 1998-2002) is realized in the form of searching for new principles of construction of energy-efficient buildings. This is mainly achieved by the design contest, which involves young architects. The paper presents an analysis of the projects of Belarussian students presented at the international competition held in 2010 under the guidance of French company Saint-Gobain Insulation.
