On the basis of interviews with persons managing Polish agricultural companies it was found out that, in spite of the fact that risk is often taken into account in the agricultural activity, no risk management methods are used in agricultural projects (i.e. projects realized by agricultural companies). Thus in the paper a proposal is presented of using in agricultural project risk management a system based on fuzzy decision trees, put forward earlier by the authors for Polish self government units. In the paper the main traits of the system as well as selected steps of an experiment of the system application conducted in one of Polish agricultural companies are described.

Presented paper attempts to develop a methodology for supporting risk management in projects in production engineering. The methodology applies to manufacturing companies of the automotive industry, because it is one of the industries where the projects are comparable to each other. On this basis, it is possible to identify the risks that occurred in the past during the various stages of the projects, which can contribute to more effective risk management during the current and future projects. The developed methodology describes how to collect data on ongoing projects, as well as how to make their analysis to allow their subsequent use.
Prezentowany artykuł podejmuje próbę opracowania metodyki wspomagającej zarządzanie ryzykiem w realizacji projektów w inżynierii produkcji. Metodyka dotyczy przedsiębiorstwa produkcyjnego branży motoryzacyjnej, ponieważ jest to jedna z branż gdzie realizowane projekty są ze sobą porównywalne. Na tej podstawie możliwe jest zidentyfikowanie ryzyk, które wystąpiły w przeszłości podczas realizacji poszczególnych etapów projektów, co może przyczynić się do efektywniejszego zarządzania ryzykiem podczas wykonywania obecnych oraz przyszłych przedsięwzięć. Opracowana metodyka opisuje w jaki sposób należy gromadzić dane dotyczące realizowanych przedsięwzięć, a także jak dokonywać ich analizy aby możliwe było ich późniejsze wykorzystanie.

A project portfolio is referred to as an optimal combination of specified projects to best achieve defined goals of an enterprise. The goals may imply either economic and business strategies, or technical strategies. This paper presents an idea of project portfolio management in intelligent decision support systems (IDSS), which emphasizes on the problem of resource allocation, in particular cash. A rational way of distributing cash among different projects is modeled. We propose a concept of cash-flow dynamics module, which can be plugged into IDSS. The IDSS allows project managers to make decisions regarding the order of priority for projects' launching times based on risk and profitability of projects. This paper describes how this module can support cash-flow management processes, from budgeting for future periods to tracking real-time cash flow. Based on an analogy between cash-flow processes and physical flow of fluid, a cash-flow dynamics model is introduced. The theory of Bernoulli principle for cash-flow planning and tracking is applied.

Background. Building Information Modelling (BIM) has been recently one of the most common issues discussed in publications related to innovative changes in the management of construction projects. The concept of BIM integrates all the activities related to the design, construction and operation into the ICT model developed and implemented within a communication platform. From the point of view of the project management theory and construction practice, the area of interest is integrated risk and change management based on BIM. Negative consequences such as delays and financial losses that are detrimental especially to public projects conducted by investors raise a question of whether and how implementation of principles of BIM in project management can improve management activities associated with risk in construction projects. Research aims. This paper aims to gain insight into the current state of knowledge about risk and change management in construction projects in terms of BIM implementation, and to set the direction for further research as well as to determine further research objectives related to this issue.Methodology. The arguments presented in this paper are based on the analysis of reference literature. Key findings: Risk is an issue in the concept of BIM that still needs to be systematized. It is necessary to develop an optimal way to integrate procedures, methods and techniques of risk management with other management actions within BIM. Change is perceived as one of the major risk factors and therefore the inclusion of change management processes into this system also requires the establishment of standards and methodical approach within BIM. Further research in this area should include past experience in the implementation of BIM in construction projects, the presence of risk-related procedures in this process and conditions of effective integration of management actions. From a practical point of view, it is also necessary to explore the willingness of entrepreneurs and investors to implement BIM, understood as a platform for communication, risk and change management as well as an optimal method for a systematized implementation of this process.

W projektach rolnych (rozumianych jako projekty realizowane przez przedsiębiorstwa rolne) występuje wiele rodzajów ryzyka. W większości przypadków właściciele przedsiębiorstw rolnych ograniczają zarządzanie ryzykiem do zawierania umowy ubezpieczenia od klęsk żywiołowych. Tymczasem w tego typu projektach występuje także wiele innych negatywnych zdarzeń, które mogą zagrozić realizacji projektu. W artykule zostanie zaprezentowane narzędzie do zarządzania ryzykiem projektów rolnych przy wykorzystaniu procesu uczenia się. Pozwala ono ograniczyć wspomniane niebezpieczeństwa i usprawnić funkcjonowanie przedsiębiorstw rolnych dzięki formalizacji i archiwizacji wiedzy na temat ryzyka projektowego. Zaproponowane narzędzie zweryfikowano na przykładzie wybranego przedsiębiorstwa rolnego. Na podstawie analizy kolejnych projektów można było zaobserwować, jak następował proces uczenia się i jak korzystanie z doświadczeń wpływało na ograniczanie ryzyka projektów rolnych W artykule przedstawiono także klasyfikację projektów rolnych.
In agricultural projects (defined as projects carried out by agricultural enterprises), there are many risks. In most cases, the owners of agricultural enterprises reduce risk management to entering into contracts of insurance against natural disasters. However, in this type of projects, there are many other adverse events that may threaten a project. The paper presents a tool for risk management of agricultural projects with the use of the learning process. It allows one to reduce risks and improve the functioning of agricultural enterprises. The proposed tool has been verified on the example of selected agricultural enterprises. The paper also presents the classification of agricultural projects.

In business practice, projects are accompanied by a wide range of risks. It is necessary to continuously identify and assess the risks of projects. The aim of the paper is to deal with the issue of Risk Management of projects in various enterprises in the Czech Republic. The paper is divided into three main parts. The first part – Introduction is focused on defining the process of Project Management, Role of Project Manager, explains the process of Risk Management of projects and describes the methods, which will be applied subsequently. The second practical part includes analysis of project risks. In the third part, after identifying the most important risks in selected projects, there is a proposal to set up measures for their reduction or complete elimination. The research was carried out in enterprises located on the territory of the Czech Republic. Data collection took place between November 2014 and January 2015 using a questionnaire survey. The article concludes with proposed recommendations in Risk Management area according to the practical experience of project management methods application respecting the specifics of the Czech Republic.
W praktyce gospodarczej projektom towarzyszy szeroka gama ryzyk. Konieczna jest ciągła identyfikacja i ocena ryzyka związanego z projektami. Celem artykułu jest zajęcie się kwestią zarządzania ryzykiem projektów w różnych przedsiębiorstwach w Republice Czeskiej. Niniejszy artykuł podzielony jest na trzy główne części. Część pierwsza - Wprowadzenie koncentruje się na zdefiniowaniu procesu zarządzania projektami, roli kierownika projektu, wyjaśnia proces zarządzania ryzykiem projektów i opisuje metody, które będą stosowane w kolejnych częściach. Część druga, praktyczna, obejmuje analizę ryzyka związanego z projektem. W trzeciej części, po zidentyfikowaniu najważniejszych zagrożeń w wybranych projektach, zaproponowano ustalenie środków dla ich zmniejszenia lub całkowitego wyeliminowania. Badania zostały przeprowadzone w przedsiębiorstwach znajdujących się na terytorium Republiki Czeskiej. Zbieranie danych miało miejsce w okresie od listopada 2014 do stycznia 2015 roku za pomocą badania ankietowego. Artykuł zakończono proponowanymi zaleceniami w dziedzinie zarządzania ryzykiem zgodnie z praktycznym zastosowaniem metod zarządzania projektami z uzwględnieniem specyfiki Republiki Czeskiej.

Projekty realizowane przez publiczne instytucje kultury to najczęściej wydarzenia, których celem jest edukacja kulturowa odbiorców. Charakteryzują się one określonym terminem i budżetem oraz udziałem artystów i partnerów. Dlatego wymagają zastosowania adekwatnych metod zarządzania, w tym zarządzania ryzykiem, jako jednego z czynników ich pomyślnej realizacji. Analiza literatury pokazuje, że istnieje niewiele badań na ten temat. Dopasowana do projektów kulturalnych metoda zarządzania ryzykiem z wykorzystaniem podejścia scrum była przedmiotem badań jednej z autorek tekstu. Polegały one na wdrożeniu autorskiego modelu zarządzania w pięciu instytucjach kultury, a następnie zastosowaniu go w wybranych projektach. Podczas realizacji projektów członkowie zespołów identyfikowali ryzyka związane z zadaniami w tych projektach. Na podstawie wyników badań, najnowszej literatury dotyczącej zarządzania ryzykiem oraz dokumentów wewnętrznych autorki opracowały zarówno adekwatną dla instytucji kultury strukturę rejestru ryzyka, opartą na metodzie ATOM, jak i uniwersalną listę ryzyk towarzyszących projektom kulturalnym.
Projects conducted by public cultural institutions are mostly events whose aim is cultural education of their recipients. The characteristic features of such projects include defined date and budget, participation of artists and partners. Thus, they require adequate management methods, among others, risk management as one of the factors contributing to project success. The subject literature shows that there is little research in this area. One of the authors of this article conducted a study whose subject was the risk management method using Scrum, tailor-made to cultural projects. The original method was implemented in five cultural institutions and later applied in selected projects. While executing the projects, project team members identified risk connected with the project tasks. Analysing the study results, the latest literature on risk management as well as internal documents, the authors proposed, on the one hand, a risk register adequate to cultural institutions and based on the ATOM methodology, and on the other hand, a universal risk list for cultural projects.

Background. A risk is inseparably related to the planning and execution of each project. A project risk is an event that may have impact on the achievement of project goals and objectives. Therefore, it is extremely important to minimize the likelihood of the occurrence and impact of potential negative events, and at the same time to take full advantage of opportunities for improvement. In other words, there is a need for project risk management.Research aims. Point out the aspects and risk management processes which are perceived to have the biggest impact on the success of a project. Indicate the risk management techniques most often used.Methodology. The search for project aspects and risk management techniques was based on scientific literature review. Exploration of actual application of risk management in private sector projects was based on surveying experts. The participants were entrepreneurs from across Poland who belonged to the Association of Project Management Poland and postgraduate.Key findings. Among the many aspects and techniques of the risk management suggestions for those which may increase the chances of achieving project success.

The aim of the article is to present elaborated risk management model in project management of e-learning courses development and implementation. Showed model of risk management is a part of a complex, integrated model for e-learning projects' processes management. The starting point of the article is an analysis of the current state of scientific literature in the field of project management for e-learning courses with a thesis that there are no suitable models adapted to the specifics of e-learning. For the thesis confirmation a case studies of four e-learning institutions with significant experience in e-learning field is being shown. Developed risk management model is presented in the third part of the article. It starts from showing elaborated general processes map, with integrated risk management. Finally detailed risk management models for distinguished processes are being presented. The article is based on case studies of European institutions with significant e-learning projects realization experience, like: Oncampus, Lübeck University of Applied Science from Germany; Distance Education Centre, Kaunas University of Technology from Lithuania; Center of Distance Education Development, Higher Banking School and Educational Portal of University of Gdansk, University of Gdansk. It also includes author's six years’ experience gained by participation in e-learning projects, like international Baltic Sea Virtual Campus and national POKL as courses’ author, instructional designer and it coordinator.

The construction phase of oil and gas projects (OGPs) is a risky process and project managers face numerous challenges during this particular period. A proper risk analysis and management during the construction phase of the OGPs not only will affect the timely and successful operation of the project as a whole, it can also affect occurrence of risks in subsequent phases and overall economic viability of the project. As a result, via using extensive literature review, this study tries to answer the question of what are main risks involved in construction phase of OGPs and which methods are used for identifying them? The outcome of this research would likely be a valuable source for construction professionals to improve project performance while managing existing risks. It is also useful to avoid common problems that befall many project managers and will assist them to have a better understanding of risk management as part of a project plan.

An investment project as an undertaking for the future, more or less foreseeable, is a priori encumbered with the possibility of occurrence of disturbances. In recent years there have appeared significant changes in the scope of execution of construction projects, connected with the investment execution time, manner of financing, investors, and the environment in which the given project is executed. That fact determines the need, or even the necessity, to conduct the research into the issues of risk assessment and its utilitarian aspects. That problem applies also to construction projects, including water supply and sewage projects. An example of the project with all kinds of threats characteristic of such types of investments is the project entitled “Complex protection of the underground waters in the Kielce agglomeration.” The risk factors result from the complexity and specificity of that type of projects. The presented article is an introduction to the discussion on the issues of assessing the risk of execution of water supply and sewage projects. The intention of the authors was to present the specificity of that type of projects and the general identification of the risk factors accompanying them.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to propose risk management recommendations for social projects taking into account their specificities by analysing and evaluating the ways in which social project risks are managed in the literature and applied in practice. Design/methodology/approach: Both literature and empirical research have been used to provide an analysis of how risks of social projects are managed. The literature research, consisting of a literature review, will be contrasted with the results of the qualitative research carried out in the form of a single embedded case study. The result is a proposal in the field of project risk management for social projects. Findings: An analysis of the way in which social project risks are managed has made it possible to identify the interdependencies that exist in this area and to identify areas of social project risk management that are particularly in need of improvement. Research limitations/implications: The research is worth continuing by increasing the number of social project investigated in order to gain a broader perspective related to the risk management of social projects and to improve the proposed recommendations. Practical implications: The research led to the development of a diagram of the steps needed to be taken in social project risk management and how to automate it through the creation of a prototype project risk management tool. Social implications: The main aim of social projects is to achieve social change. This can take the form of creating new opportunities and spaces, resolving situations that hinder well-being and social development, as well as raising awareness and bringing about changes in the way society thinks. A prerequisite for the fulfilment of these objectives is the success of the project achieved through its correct implementation across all elements. One of these elements is effective and efficient risk management. Originality/value: The article expands on the number of studies related to social project risk management and draws attention to the very limited amount of literature slanting on this topic. In addition, it presents its own solutions for social project risk management.

W artykule skoncentrowano się na procesie zarządzania ryzykiem zidentyfikowanym w ramach portfela, ukazując jednoczenie organizacyjny kontekst tego zagadnienia. Brak właściwego zarządzania ryzykiem na poziomie portfela może prowadzić do destrukcji celów portfela, SBU oraz organizacji. Kluczowe jest zatem identyfikowanie, analizowanie oraz reagowanie na ryzyko strukturalne, komponentów oraz ryzyko ogóle portfela. Zwłaszcza ta ostatnia kategoria jest niezwykle istotna, ponieważ obejmuje ryzyko zaszyte w relacjach między poszczególnymi elementami portfela. Istotne jest zatem identyfikowanie, analizowanie oraz reagowanie na ryzyko strukturalne, komponentów oraz ryzyko ogóle portfela. Zwłaszcza ta ostatnia kategoria jest niezwykle istotna, ponieważ obejmuje ryzyko zaszyte w relacjach między poszczególnymi elementami portfela.
The article focuses on the risk management process identified in the portfolio, revealing at the same time chart the context of this issue. The lack of proper risk management, portfolio-level can lead to destruction of the portfolio, SBU and the organization. The key, therefore, is to identify, analyze and respond to risk, components, structural and general risk of portfolio. Especially the latter category is very important, since it includes the risk of sewn up in the relationships between the various elements of the portfolio.
