Opis:
The brushless machine with axial flux and permanent magnets (AFPM), also called the disc-type machine, is an interesting alternative to its cylindrical radial flux counterpart due to the disk shape, compact construction and high torque density. AFPM disk motors are particularly suitable for electrical vehicles, robots, valve control, pumps, centrifuges, fans, machine tools and manufacturing. The first parts of the paper compare of drive system with disk-motor to the motor with cylindrical shape, as well as disk-motor with radial and axial flux. Next part of the contribution describes types of the disk motors and their construction. The 3D magnetic simulation and analysis of the disk stepper motor with permanent magnets is being subject of the article, too. The unique disc-type profile of the rotor and stator of AFPM machines makes it possible to generate diverse and interchangeable designs. AFPM machines can be designed as single air gap or multiple air gaps machines, with slotted, slotless or even totally ironless armature. Low power AFPM machines are frequently designed as machines with slotless windings and permanent surface magnets.

Opis:
Parameters of permanent magnets result from the combination of intrinsic properties such as saturation magnetization, magnetic exchange, and magnetocrystalline energy, as well as microstructural parameters such as phase structure, grain size, and orientation. Reduction of the grain size into nanocrystalline regime (≈50 nm) leads to the enhanced remanence which derives from ferromagnetic exchange coupling between highly refined grains. In this study the fundamental phenomena, quantities, and structure parameters, which define nanophase permanent magnets are presented and discussed. The theoretical considerations are confronted with experimental data for nanocrystalline Sm-Fe-N type permanent magnets.

Opis:
Three kinds of commercial Nd-Fe-B based materials were compared using $\text{}^{57}Fe$ Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray analysis: near the $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ stoichiometry and with both lowered and raised Nd content. Magnetically hard $Nd_2Fe_{14}B$ is present in all three materials. In the Nd-low material it is accompanied with the magnetically soft $Fe_3B$ phase, building the nanocomposite structure. In the Nd-rich sample the overstoichiometric Nd atoms seem to build separate phase of Fe-Nd solid solution. None of the materials contain significant content of phases degrading magnetic characteristics, with except of minor $Nd_{1.1}Fe_4B_4$ one.

Opis:
The electric LSPMSM motor presented in the paper differs from standard induction motor by rotor design. The insulated start-up winding is located in slots along the rotor circumference. The winding ends are connected to the slip-rings. The rotor core contains permanent magnets. The electromechanical characteristics for synchronous operation were calculated, as were the start-up characteristics for operation with a shortcircuited rotor winding. Two model motors were used for the calculations, the V-shaped Permanent Magnet (VPM) – Fig. 3, and the Linear Permanent Magnet (IPM) – Fig. 4, both rated at 14.5 kW. The advantages of the investigated motor are demonstrated in the conclusions.

Opis:
Accurate demagnetization modelling is mandatory for a reliable design of rare- earth permanent magnet applications, such as e.g. synchronous machines. The magnetization of rare-earth permanent magnets requires high magnetizing fields. For technical reasons, it is not always possible to completely and homogeneously achieve the required field strength during a pulse magnetization, due to stray fields or eddy currents. Not sufficiently magnetized magnets lose remanence as well as coercivity and the demagnetization characteristic becomes strongly nonlinear. It is state of the art to treat demagnetization curves as linear. This paper presents an approach to model the nonlinear demagnetization in dependence on the magnetization field strength. Measurements of magnetization dependent demagnetization characteristics of rare-earth permanent magnets are compared to an analytical model description. The physical meaning of the model parameters and the influence on them by incomplete magnetization are discussed for different rare-earth permanent magnet materials. Basically, the analytic function is able to map the occurring magnetization dependent demagnetization behavior. However, if the magnetization is incomplete, the model parameters have a strong nonlinear behavior and can only be partially attributed to physical effects. As a benefit the model can represent nonlinear demagnetization using a few parameters only. The original analytical model is from literature but has been adapted for the incomplete magnetization. The discussed effect is not sufficiently accurate modelled in literature. The sparse data in literature has been supplemented with additional pulsed-field magnetometer measurements.

Opis:
The calculation and measurement results of transients for an electrodynamic accelerator with permanent magnet support have been presented in this paper. The calculations have been made using the magnetostatic model in the Maxwell software, as well as using a Matlab/Simulink transient model. The waves of mechanical parameters (projectile velocity and acceleration, force) and electric ones (excitation current and capacitor voltage) have been analyzed for different supply conditions (voltage value, capacitance). The efficiency and projectile energy have been studied as well. The mathematical models have been verified experimentally using the original laboratory stand. A good conformity between calculation and measurement results has been obtained.

Investigations were carried out on Sm-Fe-N permanent magnet produced by the reactive diffusion method with different grain sizes (from 8.6 to 0.97μm). The rotational hysteresis energy has been measured as a function of the applied field. The proposed model of rotational hysteresis energy is in good agreement with the experimental results. It is shown that the magnetization reversal process in Sm-Fe-N magnet is controlled by the nucleation of reversed domains.

The investigations were carried out on Sm-Fe-N permanent magnets produced by reactive diffusion method. The magnets consist of hard magnetic phases: Sm$\text{}_{2}$Fe$\text{}_{17}$N$\text{}_{0.86}$ and SmFe$\text{}_{5}$ and soft magneticα-Fe phase. From the comparison of experimentally determined angular dependence of coercive field with appropriate theoretical predictions and from the dependence of coercive field on the external magnetic field determined from the minor hysteresis loops, it was stated that magnetization reversal process in Sm-Fe-N magnets is controlled by the nucleation of reversed domains process.
