This paper presents the application of a task scheduling algorithm called Fan based on artificial intelligence technique such as genetic algorithms for the problem of finding minima in objective functions, where equations are predefined to measure the return on investment. This work combines the methodologies of population exploration and exploitation. Results with good aptitudes are obtained until a better learning based on non-termination conditions is found, until the individual provides a better predisposi¬tion, adhering to the established constraints, exhausting all possible options and satisfying the stopping condition. A real-time task planning algorithm was applied based on consensus techniques. A software tool was developed, and the scheduler called FAN was adapted that contemplates the execution of periodic, aperiodic, and sporadic tasks focused on controlled environments, considering that strict time restrictions are met. In the first phase of the work, it is shown how convergence precipitates to an evolution. This is done in a few iterations. In the second stage, exploitation was improved, giving the algorithm a better performance in convergence and feasibility. As a result, a population was used and iterations were applied with a fan algorithm and better predisposition was obtained, which occurs in asynchronous processes while scheduling in real time.

The presented problem consists in optimizing the pulling force of the luffing jib tower cranes, in order to reduce power and save energy by determining reasonable geometrical parameters such as placement of pulley assemblies, position of jib pin, and jib length. To determine the optimal parameters, a mechanical model was developed to calculate the pulling force of the research object. Then, the Taguchi method and Minitab software were applied to evaluate the influence of the parameters. The objective function was the minimum pulling force of the luffing jib. The calculation results show that the position of the pulley assembly used to pull the jib is the most influential factor on the objective function accounting for 81.15%, the less significant factors are the jib length, the pin position of the jib, and the pulley assembly that changes the direction of the load lifting cable. The result of the test presented in the article allowed for determining the rational parameters, and the optimal position of the pulley assemblies on the top of the crane. In the case of the pulley assembly located at the top of the crane, one obtains the optimal height of the crane head H≈0.4 L c.

Any proof of a hypothesis or research thesis requires the researcher to use methods that are optimally selected according to the organizational capabilities of the researcher, the adopted research budget, and, above all, the adopted research assumptions. An important factor is to optimize the possibility of obtaining a research result that most closely reflects the surrounding cognitive reality. In economics, which is included in the field of social sciences, an important plane of analysis is the so-called data, which the researcher must process and, using statistical methods, carry out the process of falsification or confirmation of the research hypothesis. An activity that broadens the cognitive value is qualitative methods and, more specifically, the information obtained using them. In this way, the researcher creates a comprehensive research process, in which quantitative methods are compiled with qualitative methods. Such a study is referred to as a method of triangulation of methods, which allows the researcher to confront the representative result of quantitative and qualitative research.
Każdy dowód hipotezy lub tezy badawczej wymaga od badacza zastosowania metod optymalnie dobranych do możliwości organizacyjnych badacza, przyjętego budżetu badawczego, a przede wszystkim przyjętych założeń badawczych. Ważnym czynnikiem jest optymalizacja możliwości uzyskania wyniku badań, który w największym stopniu odzwierciedla otaczającą rzeczywistość poznawczą. W ekonomii, zaliczanej do dziedziny nauk społecznych, ważną płaszczyzną analizy są tzw. dane, które badacz musi przetworzyć i przy użyciu metod statystycznych przeprowadzić proces falsyfikacji lub potwierdzenia hipotezy badawczej. Działaniem pogłębiającym wartość poznawczą są metody jakościowe, a dokładniej informacje uzyskane za ich pomocą. W ten sposób badacz tworzy kompleksowy proces badawczy, w którym metody ilościowe zestawione są z metodami jakościowymi. Takie badanie określa się mianem metody triangulacji metod, która pozwala badaczowi skonfrontować reprezentatywny wynik ilościowy z jakościowym rezultatem badań.

In providing clean water services to a community, a clean water supply distribution network system is very important. This study is aimed at the determination of the distribution pipe network by simulating and optimizing the water supply system in the Arjawinangun area, Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia. The data collected was analyzed by using EPANET 2.0 software for modelling water distribution systems. The results show that the total domestic and non-domestic water demand is 391.41 l/s, with a leakage rate of 20%. The pipeline installation plan for the Arjawinangun area is planned to be installed for a length of 23,045 m, with pipe diameters ranging from 400 to 90 mm. The Arjawinangun Area Offtake Reservoir drainage system, which is at an elevation of +25 m above sea level, requires a distribution pump with a head (H) of 6.0 bar. Also, using the gravity distribution technique, a water tower can be built (~ 55 m) as a water supply booster pump.

The Muskingham method uses two formulas to describe the translation of flow surges in a river bed. The continuity formula is the first formula, while the relationship between the reach’s storage, inflow, and outflow is the second formula (the discharge storage formula); these formulas are applied to a portion of the river between two river cross sections. Several methods can be utilized to estimate the model’s parameters. This section contrasts the conventional graphic approach with three numerical methods: Genetic algorithm, Exponential regression, and Classical fourth-order Runge-Kutta. This application’s most noticeable plus point was the need to employ a few hydrological variables, such as intake, output, and duration. The location of the Euphrates entrance to the Iraqi territory in Husaybah city was chosen with its hydrological data during the period (1993-2017) to conduct this study. The goal function is established by accuracy criterion approaches (Sum of squares error and sum of squared deviations). Depending on the simulation findings, the suggested predictive flood routing ideawas highly acceptable with the prospect of adopting the Genetic Expression Programming model as a suitable and more accurate replacement to existing methods such as the Muskingum model and other numerical models, where this method gave results (R2 = 0.9984, SSQ = 1.06, SSSD = 80.75), These results achieved a hydrograph that is largely identical to what was given by the hydrological method called Muskingham.

The article aims to study the possibilities and benefits of using the stochastic modeling and simulation method in the optimization of production processes. The article presents general characteristics of modelling and simulation and presents examples of stochastic models of selected production processes implemented in hard coal mines in Poland. The presented analysis led to the conclusion that the method of stochastic modelling and simulation is one of the methods worth using as a tool supporting process optimization. Its most important feature is enabling process analysis, which, regardless of the time range, can be verified within a few minutes. As a consequence, many variants of action can be analysed before their actual implementation in real conditions.
Celem artykułu jest analiza możliwości i korzyści, jakie daje użycie metody modelowania i symulacji stochastycznej w optymalizacji procesów produkcyjnych. W artykule przedstawiono ogólną charakterystykę modelowania i symulacji oraz zaprezentowano przykłady modeli stochastycznych wybranych procesów produkcyjnych realizowanych w kopalniach węgla kamiennego w Polsce. Przedstawiona analiza pozwoliła na sformułowanie wniosku, że metoda modelowania i symulacji stochastycznej jest jedną z metod, którą warto stosować jako narzędzie wspomagające optymalizację procesów. Jej najważniejszą cechą jest umożliwianie analizy procesu, które bez względu na zakres czasowy trwania, mogą być weryfikowane w ciągu kilku minut. W konsekwencji można przeanalizować wiele wariantów działania przed właściwym wprowadzeniem ich do realizacji w warunkach rzeczywistych.

The aim of the paper is to present the concept of a digital twin (DT) as part of the Industry 4.0 strategy. In the form of a case study, a digital twin of a production line for the processing of engine blocks is presented, which will serve as a starting point for further research in the field of digitization of production processes. The research part describes the simulation model of the production line with the representation of the material flow as a basis for the creation of a digital twin. The simulation model was used to optimize the production processes of the engine block and to verify the increase in its productivity. A case study implemented through a digital twin enables testing and analysis of changes before they are introduced into real production.

The response surface method was applied to optimize operational factors in the solar photocatalytic process on the removal of Amoxicillin (AMOX) residues from aqueous solution using TiO2 immobilized on the sand as a catalyst. The results reveal that the degradation percentage of AMOX is 93.12%, when optimal conditions of pH=5, 75 mg/l of TiO2, 400 mg/l of H2O2, and 10 mg/l of AMOX concentration at 150 min irradiation time were used. Furthermore, the model’s expected response results have reasonable similarity with the actual data (R2 = 93.58%), demonstrating the efficiency of this method in making an accurate prediction. A second-order polynomial multiple regression model was used to evaluate the responses, which confirms that was a satisfactory adjustment with the achieved data through analysis of variance (R2 = 93.58%, R2adj = 91.48% and R2pred =89.68%). In addition, it is observed that the removal of undesirable compounds follows a pseudo-2nd order kinetic model with R2 = 0.9862. In conclusion, with the ease of usage of immobilized TiO2 and good photocatalytic efficiency, the findings showed the potential application to the antibiotics from an aqueous solution.

Countries need to develop sustainable energy policies based on the principles of environmental sensitivity, reliability, efficiency, economy and uninterrupted service and to maintain their energy supply in order to increase their global competitiveness. In addition to this impact of sustainable energy supply on the global world, maintenance processes in power plants require high costs due to allocated time, materials and labor, and generation loss. Thus, the maintenance needs to be managed within a system. This makes analytical and feasible maintenance planning a necessity in power plants. In this context, this study focuses on maintenance strategy optimization which is the first phase of maintenance planning for one of the large-scale hydroelectric power plants with a direct effect on Turkey's energy supply security with its one fifth share in total generation. In this study, a new model is proposed for the maintenance strategy optimization problem considering the multi-objective and multicriteria structure of hydroelectric power plants with hundreds of complex equipment and the direct effect of these equipment on uninterrupted and cost-effective electricity generation. In the model, two multi-criteria decision-making methods, AHP and COPRAS methods, are integrated with integer programming method and optimal maintenance strategies are obtained for 571 equipment.

This study is a case study based on Softlogic Retail (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka, which is a famous consumer electronics company and market leader in Sri Lanka. This company’s outbound logistics have been considered in this research, and they are mainly forced into the redistribution process in Sri Lanka. Extra routing costs due to unreasonable consumption of additional distance have been noticed in the current redistribution process. Here, this problem is modeled as a variant of the vehicle routing problem with a heterogeneous vehicle fleet. Our objective is to minimize warehouse operation, administration, and transportation costs by imposing constraints on capacity and volume. The researchers propose new heuristic solutions to the problem. A proposed heuristic algorithm has been used to find the optimal path between clusters. The computational investigation highlights the cost savings that can be accrued by this new heuristic. The cost savings can be accrued at a rate of as much as 37.5 % compared to the company’s existing method.

Celem tej publikacji naukowej jest analiza dopuszczalnych metod optymalizacji podatkowej z wykorzystaniem niematerialnych praw majątkowych. Omawianymi sposobami są: optymalizacja poprzez sprzedaż praw niematerialnych wytworzonych w ramach wspólnych organizacji oraz zastosowanie umów licencji. W obu przypadkach zostały przedstawione sposoby wraz z omówieniem podając przykłady i metody przedsiębiorców stosujących wymienione rozwiązania. Zostały ukazane wymierne korzyści z wykorzystania określonych sposobów oraz potencjalne zagrożenia, takie jak kwestionowanie zasadności wartości transakcji czy wartości wysokości honorarium.
The purpose of this academic publication is to analyze the permissible methods of tax optimization using intangible property rights. The discussed methods are: optimization through the sale of intangible rights created within joint organizations and the use of license agreements. In both cases the methods are presented together with a discussion giving examples and methods of entrepreneurs applying the above mentioned solutions. Tangible benefits from the use of certain methods are presented, as well as potential threats, such as questioning the legitimacy of the transaction or the value of the fee.

Smart Grid is a concept for transforming the electric power grid by using advanced automatic control and communications techniques and other forms of information technology. It integrates innovative tools and technologies from: generation, transmission and distribution. This also includes consumer appliances and equipment. This concept integrates energy infrastructure, processes, devices, information and markets into a coordinated and collaborative process. All allowing energy to be generated, distributed and consumed flexibly and efficiently. However, the Smart Grid with the integration of distributed generation itself also creates a several disadvantages. There can be problems with: stability and reliability, relay protection, isolation and operational isolation in which the problem is to create a burden on the distribution grid when transmitting electrical energy sources. Optimizing power flow and bringing high operating efficiency on Smart Grid conditions is an urgent issue. This paper focuses on researching and proposing solutions for optimal calculation of power flow on Smart Grid. The paper has researched, and analyzed calculation solutions to optimize power flow and proposed to use the Lagrange multiplier method. The study performed calculations for a typical Smart Grid model with three distributed generations. Calculation results have shown that the role of the method is to fully perform the optimal calculation of the power flow on the grid. This is in order to reduce power loss and energy loss as well as increasing operational efficiency while improving power quality in Smart Grid conditions.

Proper allocation of repair stations is of crucial importance from the point of view of a given material’s flow optimization. The aim of proper object allocation is such use of space that enables continuous, efficient and safe work. On the basis of numerical data, the advantages of using the Bloch-Schmigalla method for the optimal location of repair positions were presented. The proposal to optimize the organization of the repair process with using the Bloch-Schmigalla method entails multiple advantages e.g. decreasing the volume of transport activity size or time saving resulting from the rational arrangement of repair stations for unmanned ground vehicles.

Mesenchymal stem cells are a promising source for externally grown tissue replacements and patient-specific immunomodulatory treatments. This promise has not yet been fulfilled in part due to production scaling issues and the need to maintain the correct phenotype after reimplantation. One aspect of extracorporeal growth that may be manipulated to optimize cell growth and differentiation is metabolism. The metabolism of MSCs changes during and in response to differentiation and immunomodulatory changes. MSC metabolism may be linked to functional differences but how this occurs and influences MSC function remains unclear. Understanding how MSC metabolism relates to cell function is however important as metabolite availability and environmental circumstances in the body may affect the success of implantation. Genome-scale constraint based metabolic modelling can be used as a tool to fill gaps in knowledge of MSC metabolism, acting as a framework to integrate and understand various data types (e.g., genomic, transcriptomic and metabolomic). These approaches have long been used to optimize the growth and productivity of bacterial production systems and are being increasingly used to provide insights into human health research. Production of tissue for implantation using MSCs requires both optimized production of cell mass and the understanding of the patient and phenotype specific metabolic situation. This review considers the current knowledge of MSC metabolism and how it may be optimized along with the current and future uses of genome scale constraint based metabolic modelling to further this aim.
