Comprehension of nature, in the simplest and quickest fashion, boils down to the differentiation of three states. This is probably related to the psychological fact that the human mind grasps only natural numbers from zero to three and the other numbers it calculates. We live in a divalent world created by Aristotle. However not everything can be reduced to two categories: “yes” and “no”, because Nature is abundant. The principle of continuity which facilitates understanding is in natural conflict with the binary description of the world. Ever since the times of Aristotle it has been normal to use in science a description of the world that is reduced to two states: “true” and “false”. In nature it is more obvious to distinguish three states: low-medium-high or negative-neutral-positive, etc. Man embraces at a single glance sets of three elements at most, and more numerous sets are divided into parts. Binary logic may have a negative impact on the process of teaching and examinations, especially if the tests are used.

Already in the oldest cultures, numbers were used not only for counting, but humans used them to tame and organise the world and attributed to them magical, mystical and causative powers. It is difficult to characterise all cultural and linguistic areas in which the number three plays a very important role and performs many functions. Out of necessity, this article will limit itself to selected ones: various contemporary and past religions; folk culture; sports; children’s rhymes and counting books; phraseological idioms, proverbs and maxims. Triads occur extremely often in the physical and mental world of many societies, because the number three is considered lucky, perfect, often even sacred, basic in many areas of life (among others in folklore, in fairy tales, in literature, in games and plays, spells, aphorisms, wishes).

W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono rolę symboli w życiu jednostek i grup. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na symboliczne znaczenie liczby trzy w kulturze ludowej Białorusinów, a dokładniej w obrzędach kalendarza ludowego, scenariuszach ceremonii zaślubin, rytuale narodzin, obrzędach związanych z chrztem, śmiercią i żałobą. Ukazano także dominującą rolę liczby trzy w mitologii i ustnej poetyckiej spuściźnie Białorusinów (szczególnie w zaklęciach i bajkach). Analiza literatury naukowej i wywiadów badawczych dowodzi, że liczby są uniwersalnym językiem, ponieważ zawierają informacje o źródle wierzeń kulturowych, o normach i wartościach różnych społeczeństw oraz o relacjach zachodzących między ich przedstawicielami.
This article presents the role of symbols in the lives of individuals and groups. Particular attention is paid to the symbolic significance of the number three in the folk culture of the Belarusians, more specifically in the rites of the folk calendar, the scripts of marriage ceremonies, the ritual of birth, the rites associated with baptism, and the rites associated with death and mourning. The dominant role of the number three in the mythology and oral poetic legacy of the Belarusians (especially in spells and fairy epics) is also revealed. The analysis of scientific literature and research interviews prove that numbers are a universal language, as they contain information about the source of cultural beliefs, the norms and values of different societies as well as the relations occurring among their representatives.

In the spirit of our earlier articles on $q-\omega$ special functions, the purpose of this article is to present many new \(q\)-number systems, which are based on the \(q\)-addition, which was introduced in our previous articles and books. First, we repeat the concept biring, in order to prepare for the introduction of the \(q\)-integers, which extend the \(q\)-natural numbers from our previous book. We formally introduce a \(q\)-logarithm for the \(q\)-exponential function for later use. In order to find \(q\)-analogues of the corresponding formulas for the generating functions and \(q\)-trigonometric functions, we also introduce \(q\)-rational numbers. Then the so-called \(q\)-real numbers \(\mathbb{R}_{\oplus_{q}}\), with a norm, a \(q\)-deformed real line, and with three inequalities, are defined. The purpose of the more general \(q\)-real numbers \(\mathbb{R}_{q}\) is to allow the other \(q\)-addition too. The closely related JHC \(q\)-real numbers \(\mathbb{R}_{\boxplus_{q}}\) have applications to several \(q\)-Euler integrals. This brings us to a vector version of the \(q\)-binomial theorem from a previous paper, which is associated with a special case of the \(q\)-Lauricella function. New \(q\)-trigonometric function formulas are given to show the application of this umbral calculus. Then, some equalities between \(q\)-trigonometric zeros and extreme values are proved. Finally, formulas and graphs for \(q\)-hyperbolic functions are shown.

Opis:
Providing roughness is an effective method to heat fluids to high temperature. Present paper make use of concave dimple roughness on one and three sides of roughened ducts aimed at determining rise in heat transfer and friction of three sides over one side roughened duct. Three sides roughened duct produces high heat transfer compared to one side roughened. Results are shown as a rise in Nusselt number and friction factor of three sides over one side roughened duct. Experimental investigation was conducted under actual outdoor condition at National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, India to test various sets of roughened collectors. Roughness parameter varied as relative roughness pitch 8–15, relative roughness height 0.018–0.045, dimple depth to diameter ratio 1–2, Reynolds number 2500– 13500 at fixed aspect ratio (width/hight) 8. Highest enhancement in Nusselt number for varying relative roughness pitch, height, and diameter ratio was respectively found as 2.6 to 3.55 times, 1.91 to 3.42 times and 3.09 to 3.94 times compared to one side dimple roughened duct. Highest rise in friction for three sides over one side roughened duct for these varying parameters was respectively found as 1.62 to 2.79 times, 1.52 to 2.34 times and 2.21 to 2.56 times. To visualize the effect of roughness parameter on heat transfer and friction factor, variation in Nusselt number and friction factor for varying roughness parameters with Reynolds number is shown.

There are two sides of the catalyst operation: favourable and adverse. The positive side can be expressed by a conversion rate of harmful substances which is the principal parameter of catalyst work in respect of ecology. However, resistance of exhaust gas flow through the catalytic converter is also an essential problem. This is just the negative, adverse side of the converter operation. The catalytic converter can be treated as a local or linear resistance element of exhaust system. The first model, in which flow resistance generated by a catalyst is treated as local resistance, is more simplified. It is especially useful in case, when detailed constructional data of converter are unknown and the analysis of flow resistances in exhaust system is necessary. The basic measured quantity of flow resistance is pressure drop of exhaust gas within the catalyst. Next, on the basis of taken measurements also resistance number for the tested catalyst is calculated and analysed. Resistance number of the converter is calculated using Darcy model. In the second case, exhaust gas flow resistance through catalyst is treated as linear resistance with energy dissipation (linear frictional resistance) distributed linearly along way of exhaust gas flow. Friction number for the tested converter is calculated and analysed. The problem has been illustrated by the results of experimental researches of the three-way catalytic converter installed in the exhaust system of the spark ignition engine.

The main aim of this paper is to give the crossing number of the join product $G^∗ + P_n$ for the disconnected graph $G^$∗ of order five consisting of the complete graph $K_4$ and one isolated vertex, where $P_n$ is the path on n vertices. The proofs are done with the help of a lot of well-known exact values for the crossing numbers of the join products of subgraphs of the graph $G^∗$ with the paths. Finally, by adding new edges to the graph $G^∗$, we are able to obtain the crossing numbers of the join products of two other graphs with the path $P_n$.
