The article concerns the notion of “court” in the Succession Regulation. This notion is used in the Brussels I and Brussels Ia Regulations, where it does not necessarily have the same scope. The author attempts to interpret the concept in the light of the recitals to the Succession Regulation (in particular Recital 20) and of the case law of the Court of Justice. The very general description of the concept contained in Article 3(2) of the Regulation might potentially embrace other authorities and legal professionals, where they exercise judicial functions by way of delegation of power from the court. In the author’s view, the European Court, especially in Oberle and WB v Notariusz Przemysława Bac correctly navigated its way through the Succession Regulation and ruled in a way which is both coherent as regards the operation of the Regulation and consistent with the intentions of the legislator. The above judgments are analysed also with regard to Poland’s omission to notify notaries as “courts” under Article 79 of the Succession Regulation. The European Court found that the criteria for determining whether an authority or a legal professional, in particular a notary public, constitutes a “court” aredetermined by Article 3(2) and not by Article 79. Consequently, Poland’s omission to notify was not conclusive, but was in any event correct in substance. The author expresses the opinion that the judgment is accurate on this point.

The dispositional account of quantum properties faces the following circularity problem: properties of a system are defined as dispositions (probabilistic or deterministic) to give rise to certain outcomes upon measurements, but measurements in turn are generally characterized with reference to the very same dispositions. I consider one way of escaping the difficulty with regard to probabilistic dispositions by applying a theorem due to Peter Mittelstaedt. The theorem enables us to give a probability-free characterization of quantum measurements, thus eliminating the need of referring back to probabilistic dispositions of the system. However, the circularity problem remains for deterministic dispositions. I give arguments why we should resist the temptation to interpret eigenstates as categorical properties, and I discuss possible alternative solutions to the problem.

The article aims at presenting a general concept of security, and especially the one which could be applied to the studies of security in international relations, state security, business security, and individual person security. The starting point is the assumption that the subject of security, i.e. the individual which has the feature of being safe, can only be an object with its own axiology, some store of material and / or nonmaterial goods and the ability to make and carry out decisions that are beneficial from the accepted values point of view. The scope of such objects determines the universum of security studies. The security issue arises when a conflict of values appears. A catalogue of such values remains open and it might be a basis for the security approach analysis. Such a perspective is nonspecific because of the security subject, which gives a possiblity for a wide theoretical application.
Celem artykułu jest próba przedstawienia ogólnej koncepcji bezpieczeństwa (security), w szczególności takiej, która mogłaby mieć zastosowanie do studiów nad bezpieczeństwem zarówno w dziedzinie stosunków międzynarodowych, bezpieczeństwa państwa, bezpieczeństwa biznesu i bezpieczeństwa osoby indywidualnej. Punktem wyjścia jest spostrzeżenie, że podmiotem bezpieczeństwa, tzn. indywiduum, któremu przysługuje cecha bycia bezpiecznym, może być tylko obiekt posiadający własną aksjologię, pewien zasób dóbr materialnych i/lub niematerialnych oraz zdolność do podejmowania i realizowania decyzji, korzystnych z punktu widzenia akceptowanych wartości. Zbiór takich obiektów wyznacza uniwersum studiów nad bezpieczeństwem. Problem bezpieczeństwa (security issue) pojawia się z chwilą powstania konfliktu wartości, których katalog jest otwarty, a na jego podstawie można analizować podejścia do bezpieczeństwa. Ujęcie takie jest niespecyficzne z uwagi na podmiot bezpieczeństwa, co stwarza możliwość jego szerokiego zastosowania teoretycznego.

Opis:
Kant quite often refers to analogy though without really developing the theoretical aspects of the matter itself. Even when introducing in Critique of Pure Reason (“CPR”) an apparently clear distinction between analogy in philosophy and analogy in mathematics he was so succinct that there remain doubts as to whether the distinction is based on the criterion of fields wherein analogy might be applied or rather it refers to the structure of the analogy. The latter leaves room for differences in interpretation. While analogy in philosophy is built of four elements as a relation of two relations (a:b :: c:d), the structure of analogy in mathematics may either be same as this in philosophy or be conceived as built of three elements (a:b :: b:c), depending on the reference to source (with or without G.S.A. Mellin’s change to A179/B222 of CPR). In Lectures on Logic Kant distinguishes between analogy and induction; both these forms of reasoning are proper to the reflecting capacity to judge and, as such, opposed to inference by deduction (especially syllogism) which is specific to the reason (or: determining capacity to judge), closely linked to the understanding. The reflecting capacity to judge produces so-called reflective judgments which are of subjective validity only. Analogy, while hardly differing from induction in its practical use, shares with induction the common principium; let the assertion in the article be that the principium is drawn from the teleology of nature as derived in, inter alia, Critique of Judgment (the principle of purposiveness). Identity of grounds (par ratio) is required to formulate an analogy, which means that the corresponding elements in both pairs of an analogy have to belong to the same class; the classes, however, may only be singled out when, case by case, allowing for the context (category of relation) wherein par ratio is relevant.

Ludzka osoba nie jest ciałem. Ludzka osoba nie jest duszą. Osoba ludzka jest compositum ciała i duszy. Filozofia i teologia są naukami, które pomagają człowiekowi zrozumieć ten fakt. Czasami w historii zdarzało się, że ciało ludzkie było deprecjonowane a nawet postrzegane jako więzienie dla duszy (Platon). Jest mnóstwo filozoficznych i teologicznych koncepcji i interpretacji tego, czym ludzkie ciało naprawdę jest. I prawdą jest to, że ciało człowieka jest koniecznym, ale niewystarczającym „składnikiem” ludzkiej osoby. Jak powiedział Arystoteles, ciało człowieka jest dobrem ontologicznym, które musi być traktowane w sposób odpowiedzialny i nie może być używane.

In this article I present the notion the dissociation. The dissociation is connected with personality disorders and with the trauma. Experience a strong trauma is nature of dissociative disorders. The dissociation can have different manifestations, e.g. the amnesia, the confusion or the exchange of the personality. Dissociative disorders are not only the domain of the so-called pediatric pathology. Dissociation is also a mechanism activated during invasive medical procedures that the experience can touch every family.

The article provides an overall overview of competitiveness and competitive advantage concepts found in the literature. Then the Author attempts to present competitiveness as an aggregate composed of such components as competitive potential, competitive position competition strategy, or competition instruments. Modern music theory, ignoring the problems connected with the subject’s auditive experience but referring to the objective laws of nature, was criticised by Carl Dahlhaus, although he accepted - to a certain extent - the hypothesis of historical determinism. Dahlhaus links this turning point in the history of reflection on music with the transition from the ‘ontological contemplation’ of the Tonsystem to the ‘aesthetic contemplation’ of the Tonkunstwerk, the fundamental characteristic of which is the idea of ‘wholeness’ (die Idee der Ganzheit). The new conception of the discourse on the theory and history of modern music proposed by Karol Berger in his book A Theory of Art (2000) bears testimony to crucial changes in the contemporary humanities linked to the so-called ‘cognitive revolution’. According to Berger, the fundamental characteristic distinguishing modern art from premodern art is its autonomy. Berger distances himself from the modern tradition of theoretic- aesthetic discourse treating the work of art, including the work of music, as an axiologically neutral entity independent of ‘human nature’, that is, of the functioning of our memory, imagination and cognitive mechanisms, and also not having a specific social function. At the centre of Berger’s theoretical interests is aesthetics, as broadly understood, coupled with ethics and history, poetics and hermeneutics. He is not interested - like Dahlhaus - in considering ‘what art is’ or ‘what music is’ , but poses the question: ‘What should the function of art be, if art is to have a value for us ?’

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie jak pojęcie „przedsiębiorstwo” funkcjonuje w prawie Unii Europejskiej. Jest to autonomiczna koncepcja acquis communautaire, która jednocześnie nie została zdefiniowana w Traktatach. Poza tym unijne reguły konkurencji, zarówno na płaszczyźnie prawa pierwotnego, jak i legislacji wtórnej adresowane są właśnie do przedsiębiorstw. Doprecyzowanie występującego w prawie Unii Europejskiej pojęcia „przedsiębiorstwo” i określenie zakresu jego zastosowania pozwoli więc wyznaczyć podmiotowe ramy obowiązywania unijnego prawa konkurencji. Artykuł przedstawia w oparciu, o jakie kryteria podmiotowe i funkcjonalne Trybunał Sprawiedliwości podejmuje decyzję o uznaniu danego podmiotu za przedsiębiorstwo w rozumieniu prawa UE i jakie przesłanki wyłączają możliwość zakwalifikowania do tej kategorii. Praca opiera się na bogatym, w znacznej części obcojęzycznym i bardzo często niedostępnym w kraju materiale źródłowym. Artykuł przedstawia również obszerne orzecznictwo Europejskiego Trybunału Sprawiedliwości poświęcone poruszanej problematyce.
The paper presents how the concept of “undertaking” works in European Union’s law. It is a communautaire concept, however it is not defined in the Treaties. On the other hand EU competition rules, both at the level of primary and secondary legislation are addressed to the “undertakings”. Pinpointing the exact meaning of this term will therefore allow to define the scope of EU competition law. The paper presents on the basis of what criteria European Commission and the European Court of Justice assesses if an entity could fall under category of undertaking in terms of EU law. At the same time what kind of activities would never be considered as economic and thus its provider be considered an undertaking. The article presents the extensive case-law of the European Court of Justice dedicated to the discussed issue.

On July 1, 2011, the law of April 15, 2011 on therapeutic activity went into effect. It aimed at explaining and unifying the laws on therapeutic services. In order to achieve this aim, new notions were introduced such as therapeutic activity, activity in the field of therapeutic activity, health facility or non-enterprise based health facilities. These legal notions suggested by legislators are sources of doubt for numerous queries. The scope of these definitions causes many problems by their clarification. In many cases, there is so much doubt that questions about reason for the law, the coherence and the possibility of arranging legislative measures in the legal system of the Republic of Poland arise.The way the therapeutic activity is defined is one of the reasons for the aforementioned problems with its interpretation. The lawful definition that refers to unspecific notions such as therapeutic services, promotion of health or the relevant didactic and research activities seems to be very general. Additional doubt also arises from the lawful division of the definition of therapeutic activity into regulated activity according to law of July 2, 2004 on freedom of trade and activity that is not regulated as such.The definition of the notion of health facility calls for further consideration. The indication that health facilities drive entrepreneurs and the economy, makes it even more difficult to categorize their company status in case of a purchase. The appearing problems were additionally complicated by the legal division of non-enterprise based health facilities. The creation of such a category by legal entities with the emphasis that budgetary units and public autonomous administrative units are comprised within the area of health care does not correspond with the definition of an enterprise in Poland. Similar interpretation difficulties are caused by imprecise legal regulations. According to the definition of health facilities, partners in civil partnership and partners in general commercial partnerships and natural persons that conduct one-man business activity within their medical practice were excluded.The mentioned doubts make it difficult to establish the personal and objective application areas of the law. That is why the law on therapeutic activity, despite the legislators’ struggle to create clear and understandable definitions, did not only fail to clear any inadequacies of previous regulations, but also magnified the existing chaos in terminology.

The aim of this article is to explore the way the notion of culture has been presented in management theories. In some instances, the concept was absent; but a closer inspection can reveal that culture was an issue or a challenge for managers – as it was the case with taylorism, which actually tried to overcome the cultural differentiation of the workforce. Today, intercultural management and the concept of organizational culture are a crucial part of management theory and education. But the abundance of books and articles on the impact of culture on the economy poses yet another challenge for the students of culture. Is this phenomenon understood correctly, and does intercultural management do justice to the nature of culture and intercultural relations? Perhaps the focus on culture has been blown out of proportion, and perhaps it is meant to hide a purely technocratic attitude toward the workforce? Nevertheless, it would be hard to understand globalization without taking into account the transcultural phenomen of today’s management.

Referat stanowi próbę odpowiedzi na kilka pytań dotyczących celowości oraz sposobu definiowania pojęcia "sytuacji kryzysowej". Wszystkie postawione w pracy pytania oraz odpowiedzi poparte są rozważaniami w kontekście orzeczenia Trybunału Konstytucyjnego z dnia 21.04.2009 r.1 Na podstawie tego wyroku z dniem 01.05.2010 r. art. 3 ustawy o zarządzaniu kryzysowym, uznany jako niezgodny z art. 2 Konstytucji RP, miał utracić moc. Ustawodawca jednak z dniem 19.09.2009 r. zmienił art. 3 ustawy o zarządzaniu kryzysowym w związku z czym nastąpiło wykonanie wyroku TK, którego celem było wyeliminowanie z obrotu prawnego definicji niekonstytucyjnej. W pracy następuje próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy "sytuacja kryzysowa" jest na tyle pojęciem niedookreślonym, że wymaga skonkretyzowania zakresu znaczeniowego w formie definicji legalnej. W opracowaniu prowadzone są rozważania na temat, jakie argumenty przemawiają za celowością i sposobem występowania definicji "sytuacji kryzysowej" w obrocie prawnym oraz w jakim zakresie zmieniono niekonstytucyjną definicję "sytuacji kryzysowej"
The paper is an attempt to answer a few questions concerning the need and also the manner of specifying the notion of "crisis situation". All the questions posed in the paper and the answers given are backed up with deliberations in the context of the Stating of the Constitutional Tribunal of 21 April 2009. Under the ruling, Article 3 of the Act on crisis management was found to be against Article 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. The article was supposed to stop being legally binding on May 1, 2010. The legislator, however, on 19 September 2009 changed Article 3 of the Act on crisis management. The purpose of the Tribunal’s ruling was to eliminate an unconstitutional definition from legal transactions. The paper makes an attempt to answer a question whether "crisis situation" requires specification of its semantic scope in the form of a legal definition. There is also a question what arguments are in favour of the need and the manner of the appearance of the definition of "crisis situation" in legal transactions and to what extent the unconstitutional definition of "crisis situation" was changed.

Tarski believed that the notion of truth should be relativised not to the notion of meaning - as many philosophers would claim - but rather to the notion of language. In general terms, he would identify a language with a structure L = containing an alphabet, a class of sentences and an operation of consequence. As to the specific languages of deductive sciences Tarski maintained that they should be inseparably conjoined with theories, so that the notion of language should be supplemented with a set of axioms and a set of true sentences: L' = . First four elements of L' are quite conveniently expressable in syntactic terms. About the set of Ver, to the contrary, it can be said only that it is one of many complete and coherent sets of sentences containing Ax and closed for the operation Cn. For a very general characteristic it could perhaps be enough. For a more specific definition of Ver, however, Tarski needed some semantic tool. As is well known, he used the notion of satisfying, defined for every particular language L* . Thus, as it seems, according to Tarski, the general notion of truth relative to language is a primary notion of the theory of formalized languages. Were we after introducing it as a secondary notion, we would have to enrich the notion of language with some semantic (referential) aspects, what in turn would require some standarization of syntax and thus narrow the notion of formalized language.

Europeanization is not a new term, but only throughout the recent two decades it has turned into a notion very frequently used in social science. It seems there are two reasons for its success: (1) the intensification of European integration in the late 1980's and (2) the development of the conceptual studies on Europeanization. Numerous theoretical approaches elaborated under the term have stimulated its popularity, yet they have also raised a critical question on the empirical usefulness of the broadly and vaguely defined concept. In the article the concept of Europeanization is taken under scrutiny. Recently developed multiple attitudes to Europeanization are critically discussed and presented with reference to the broader body of the literature on European integration. The considerations end with a short revision of possible empirical usages of the popular term in Polish context. This aim has been triggered by a shortage of references to the widely discussed concept in Polish literature. Polish debate on repercussions of the membership in the European Union may be significantly enriched by a thoughtful reference to the popular, even though controversial concept. Being aware of its shortcomings we can make a better use of its advantages.

The classical rhetoric knows the notion of the rhetoric figures – thoughts and words. The conceptual figure (the term “conceptual” includes both “notioning” and “linguification”) is determined from a different point of reference – i.e. from text conceptualisation perspective. In such an understanding of the conceptual figure is mainly connected with inventio, and less with dispositio and elocutio, it is a specific conceptual amalgamation (blend) and a hiperonim for various tropic conceptualisations. In text it includes both micro- and macro-conceptual strategies.

This paper is a study of the essential property of human existence – transcendence, whose characteristics can be derived from Karl Stern’s works. By criticizing the model of contemporary psychology for its mechanistic character, Stern tries to prove that it is psychoanalysis that enables us to found a humanistic base for understanding human transcendence towards God. In this way, Stern passes over the fact that the humanistic sense of transcendence was established in Victor Frankl’s philosophy of existence. Stern blemishes the basic meanings of Freud’s psychoanalysis, which, as such, is not suitable for Stern’s procedure of humanization.

Theodor W. Adorno aesthetics is considered as the last and the most important theory, which is formulated from a perspective of the aesthetics of art. It established an understanding of the contemporary art and its mechanisms. In spite of its wide reception, the interpretations of Adorno's conception often overlook his notion of beautiful nature. The notion is the main subject of my article. I want to show that it is not only vividly present in "Ästhetische Theorie", but also takes an important part in Adorno's aesthetic theory and in his understanding of art and of aesthetic experience. Such an attitude allows me to interpret Adorno's theory from a perspective of the "extended aesthetics", which consider the aesthetics of nature as an important part of the field. Since Hegel, who rejected the concept of nature from the field of aesthetic, Adorno is the first aesthetician who re-entries the model of aesthetics understood as domain of both nature and art. Adorno admitted the notion of beautiful nature an important place in his aesthetics. For him, the acknowledgement of the beauty of nature is a condition of art and aesthetics experience. At the same time, the natural beauty is a medium of some utopian values. The involuntary perception characteristic of beautiful nature and a kind of memento "imprinted" in it are some archaic rudiments that do not correspond with the rationality of cultural industry.

The basic philosophical idea of intuitionism is that mathematical entities exist only as mental constructions and that the notion of truth of a proposition should be equated with its verification or the existence of proof. However different intuitionists explained the existence of a proof in fundamentally different ways. There seem to be two main alternatives: the actual and potential existence of a proof. The second pro-posal is also understood in two alternative ways: as knowledge of a method of con-struction of a proof or as knowledge-independent and tenseless existence of a proof. This paper is a presentation and analysis of these alternatives.

In the course of considering these views the following problems are discussed: differentiation of the conceptual from linguistic metaphors, hypothesis of a cognitive base for linguistic creation of poetical tropes, creation of poetical figures in relation to standard metaphors in natural language, dynamics of the processes of conceptual and linguistic métaphorisations, categories of the mental image and of the vantage point. The topic of this paper is the issue of the notion and classification of assemblies in Polish law, while its direct aim is to analyse and evaluate the regulations of the above issue after the changes introduced by the Act of 24 July 2015 on the Law of Assemblies (Dz.U. item 1485). The discussion is divided into two parts: the first is devoted to the investigation of the very notion of assembly, the second to the analysis of the topic of classification of assemblies – from the perspective of the form of decision of an administrative authority regarding the permissibility of holding the assembly. Following this criterion, assemblies are divided into ones which only require notification and the silent acceptance of the administrative organ, spontaneous assemblies which do not require notification, assemblies which require prior permission, and finally assemblies in the case of which it is necessary to agree on the time and place of holding the assembly with the operator of the road.

Two tendencies determine the use of the concept of culture within Polish cultural studies: the tendency to understand culture in a generalized, comprehensive way and the tendency to narrow it down, to particularize it. The former tendency is visible, among other things, in the concept of culture adopted by the main founding traditions of Polish cultural studies: the Wrocław tradition established by Stanisław Pietraszko and the Poznań tradition introduced by Jerzy Kmita. The latter tendency is inherent in these conceptions of cultural studies that take as their object different fragments of culture for example contemporary culture, or artistic culture. The problem of interdisciplinarity presented in the paper is asked in the context of the notion of culture specific for cultural studies. The paper investigates, whether and in what sense the concept of culture is interdisciplinary. Do cultural studies researchers employ a specific notion of culture shared by them and suitable therefore to perform the function of integrating cultural studies as the domain of interdisciplinary studies? Which notionof culture – the general or the particular one – can serve the purpose better?

To achieve this goal, the method of document examination was employed, which made it possible to accumulate, sort, describe and scientifically interpret the issues of military administration. By pinpointing and justifying the problem, a stance was taken in the face of the views of other authors, who considered all the aspects of “military administration”. From a scientific point of view, the topic described below and the attempt at defining the notion of “military administra-tion” can lead to conclusions which have not been a topic of discussion for many years

The usual way of characterising the notion of “musical postmodernism” is set out by the following claims: (1) a postmodern musical work corresponds to the postmodern worldview; the notion in question is closely connected with the etymology of its name (“postmodern” means, in any case, “of an era after a modern one”); (3) the characterisation of the postmodern worldview (and, thus, of a postmodern piece of music) ought to conform to the beliefs of the classics of the postmodern thought; (4) the postmodern repertoire includes mainly the works created after about 1970; (5) the most important features of these compositions are euphony, aleatoric indetermination, polistylistics, and repetitiveness. The notion governed by the claims (1) – (5) is highly unclear and provides little help for understanding musical phenomena. In order to make it more precise, the basis of its definition should be modified and the three following claims accepted: (A) a postmodern musical work is a musical representation of the postmodern worldview; (B) the existing musical repertoire contains some postmodern works; (C) a correct definition of musical postmodernism should enable to qualify at least some of the given composi-tions as postmodern or not. The conditions (A ) – (C) and the analysis of the postmodern worldview seem to suggest that a postmodern musical work is such of a precariously integrated structure. A postmodern work represents the undermining (“deconstruction”) of the crucial idea of the com-posing practice: the piece of music arises from the integration of sounds, not of a simple aggregation of them. The musical “deconstruction” can emerge when some of the important portions a work or certain aspects of it exhibit larger degree of integration than the work as a whole. It seems that some compositions by Ives and the final movement of Chopin’s Sonata in B minor Op. 35 are postmodern in the sense pointed above.

The term “competence” owes its interdisciplinary character to the richness of its semantic contest. Hence, it is used in various scientific disciplines, including the social sciences. The objective of the following article is to look more closely at the notion of competence, that is, how is has been approached in psychology from the late 1950 till today. The article aims at presenting the issues related to the conceptualization of competence. Furthermore, some ambiguities in the nomenclature used by researchers and theoreticians as well as in the way competence is presents have been noticed. It has provoked the author of this article to formulate some specifications. Some efforts have been made to systematize the knowledge in this area. The analsis of competence has finally resulted in the defining personality competence indicators and formulating the basis to mark them out from personal competences. As an illustration of the latter temporal competences have been discussed in some detail.

Development of notion of energy resulted in appearing different interpretations in fields of physics and psychology. To psychology this concept was introduced by Mesmer. He believed that an influence of a physically perceptible fluid is the essence of therapeutic action. It was Freud who reformulated Mesmer's theory explaining that this influence should be understood as a transference. At the same time, the 19th century disputes between vitalism and mechanistic school of physiology brought a widespread consensus about the unity of all types of energy. This consensus led later to a gradual elimination of the concept of energy from psychology. In the 20th century interpretation of notion libido caused that idea of a specific vital energy returned in Reich's pieces. It is important that Reich was one of the most prominent psychotherapists of the 20th century. He created contemporary Bioenergetic Therapy. Representatives of this kind of therapy claim today that a notion of energy announces a rise of a new paradigm in science. Actually this notion creates a danger of introducing activities independent of any rational valuation into a field of healing procedures.

The work discusses the notion of the basic phonological segment from the perspective of selected European and American phonological theories. The discussion consists in the analyses of specific phonological problems in accordance with the tenets of a given framework, starting with the Kazan School and ending with the Optimality Theory. The goal of this study is to show the differences in the methodology and predictions of each framework that prove significant in the process of establishing the basic phonological unit. The dissertation elaborates on the data from English, Polish, German, and Russian. The main body of the work comprises the issues of biuniqueness and overlapping, the symmetry of a phonological system and levels of phonological representation.

There are more and more buildings whose complexity, with regard to technology and construction, makes it difficult to qualify them to the category of a structure on the basis of the criteria set forth in Article 3, item 3 of the Construction Law. In the years 2012-2015, the Supreme Audit Office conducted several audits in which the key issue was to decide whether the audit subject is related to a structure. In his article, the author presents examples related to selected buildings whose qualification as a structure raised interpretation doubts in the light of Article 3, item 3 of the Construction Law. This led to the latitude and the lack of unified stance of architecture and construction administration bodies, and construction supervision bodies in the application of the law, and consequently – to significant doubts in evaluation of the audited activities.

It is commonly held that the rise and development of quantum mechanics forces us to reject the idea of objective knowledge and the notion of truth in science. In the article I critically analyse arguments against possibility of objective knowledge in quantum mechanics, which were formulated by philosophizing physicists (Bhor, Heisenberg, Weizsacker). I point out that the term „objectivity” used by those physicists, in ambiguous. They do not distinguish epistemological and ontological notions of „objectivity”, different meanings of the ontic objectivity itself, and they do not separate the objectivity of cognitive acts from the objectivity of cognitive results.

The main aim of this paper is to try to answer the question of the nature of Kantian project of the transcendental philosophy. Is it, in real, as Kant by himself says, that his philosophy, as the critic of the pure theoretical reason presupposes, is merely the preparation the ground under the metaphysics, and merely asks the question of the possibility of metaphysics at all, or rather Kant's system of the theoretical philosophy called by Kant as formal or transcendental idealism can be classified as one of the main ontological systems: ontological realism or idealism, in the classical sense. I think the crucial notion, which can help to solve this problem, is the notion of reality used by Kant in several meanings and contexts which I am going to examine in this article.

This paper uses communicative-pragmatic analysis and a corpus-based method to investigate multidimensional axiological interpretation of Europäische Identität notion as a unifying political concept. The study focuses on European identity discourse as presented in German mass media. The study shows strategic relevance of the concept and its unifying potential both within the EU framework, and in wider European domain. The analysis reveals that primary and secondary collocators actualized with the notion convey both the topicality and inconsistency of the concept. Moreover, the results show that identity and personal / collective self-determination discourse is characterized by polemic nature and various evaluations that predominantly feature the tactics of doubt and mistrust to the unifying potential of European identity concept.

This paper, which proposes a historical overview, is dedicated to the notion of (air) and its lexical equivalent in the Polish language. This notion has undergone numerous changes over time; it has formed through direct human experience on the one hand and through the Christian and Slavic traditions as well as scientifi c knowledge overlapping on the other hand. This notion has always been important to the human being, it has been commonly referred to in metaphors and similes. In the historical analysis, two basic senses of powietrze (air) were taken into consideration: ‘place’ and ‘substance’. In both cases, there has always been a clearly ambivalent attitude to the human being, who sees threats on the one hand and feels that air guarantees life on the other hand.

The representatives of the Accounts Chamber have developed the draft of the principal paper to be presented at the Congress. Within the consultation process on the draft principal paper, in May 2018 in Petersburg a meeting was held of the Heads and other representatives of 19 Supreme Audit Institutions. The delegates of the Supreme Audit Office of Poland voiced their doubts whether the introduction of “strategic audit”, which is a new notion, was really appropriate and justified.

The article is a commentary on the resolution of the Council of the Supreme Audit Office of December 2017 related to, among others, the issue of the interpretation of the notion of “control” in the European Union’s legal acts. The notion in the Polish legal system reflects two linguistic traditions: French and British. In the case of the meaning that refers to the legal order of the Anglo-Saxon countries, so as to differentiate it from auditing understood in a traditional manner, the other element is added, related to management. The predominant spatial conception of the EU contributes to an evident emergence of a sharpened territorial building of the European space. By all evidence the idea of both the territorial cohesion and territorial continuity shows how relevant the notion of territoriality in the ‘European discourse’ is and consequently how accepted the instrument of hard and closed border and the sharp inside/outside dichotomy are. Due to this pragmatic notion of territoriality, the idea of the EU as a ‘non-Westphalian new empire’ (according to the ‘neo-medieval paradigm’) became at least unrealistic. Its borders are getting more territorial, physical and visible. Hard border policies and practices on the Eastern and Western Balkan borders mirror the existence of a de facto barrier and of a deep ‘Westphalian memory’ in the way of using the territory as support of political unity.

This article deals with the universal nature of human rights recognised by all civilisations and legal systems. The important thing is that the actions of the state are consistent with the content of these rights is justified by the fact that they protect the dignity of every human being and enable cooperation between people. Universal treaties impose the same international legal obligations in the field of human rights on as many states as possible. Regional treaties perform this function in relation to a group of states. It seems, however, that for the full protection of an individual’s rights, the ideas of universalism and regionalism of human rights need to complement each other. No regional system can exist if it is inconsistent with the norms and principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Względność pojęcia ekwiwalencji na przykładzie tłumaczenia tytułów prasowych w wersji elektronicznej Pojęcie ekwiwalencji jest ogólnie rozumiane jako oddanie w języku docelowym sensu tekstu wyrażonego w języku wyjściowym. Tłumaczenie tekstów prasowych zmusza jednak tłumacza do wzięcia pod uwagę dodatkowego parametru, a mianowicie odniesienia oryginału i jego tłumaczenia do szeroko pojętego kontekstu wypowiadania. W tym wypadku poszukiwanie ekwiwalentów nie opiera się na odpowiedniości słownictwa czy wyrażeń, a bardziej na porównaniu tych różnych kontekstów kulturowych. W niniejszym artykule omawiane są granice między ekwiwalencją a adaptacją na przykładzie tytułów prasy francuskiej i ich tłumaczeń dostępnych na platformie VoxEurop. Relativité de la notion d’équivalence sur l’exemple de la traduction des titres de presse en ligne La notion d’équivalence est communément comprise comme la reproduction dans la langue cible d’un sens exprimé dans la langue de départ. Pourtant, la traduction des textes journalistiques impose au traducteur une dimension supplémentaire importante : la référence du texte au contexte de l’énonciation. Il en résulte que dans ce type de traduction la recherche des équivalences ne s’appuie plus sur la correspondance entre les termes utilisés, mais sur les contextes énonciatifs différents de l’original et de sa traduction. Dans cet article on discute les limites entre l’équivalence et l’adaptation sur l’exemple de titres des articles en français, parus et traduits en polonais sur le site VoxEurop.
The notion of equivalence is widely understood as conveying the meaning of a text in the original language to the target one. However, press texts translation requires the translator to consider an additional factor, which is to refer the original text and its translation to a broadly defined narrative context. In this case, the search for equivalents does not touch upon vocabulary or phrasing accuracy, but a comparison of the different cultural contexts instead. In the following article, the author discusses the boundaries between equivalence and adaptation based upon French press titles and their translations available on the VoxEurop platform.

However, this work will explore how this notion can be understood through analysis of specific texts in which it occurs. We will also address other questions, such as: what kinds of distinctive features there are, and how distinctiveness ranks among other concepts, including those which are regarded as its synonyms.

Wnosząc doń swoją wrażliwość, jest przede wszystkim zjawieniem się kobiety, a wraz z nią tego, co nazwano „courtoisie", ta ostatnia bowiem, zanim stała się kultem kobiety, jest przede wszystkim uświadomieniem sobie jej istnienia w życiu i literaturze.
