Opis:
In 2015, the science known as econophysics, which has been developing very quickly in latest years, celebrated its 20th anniversary. Perhaps a 20-year period is too short to evaluate the importance and achievements of econophysics, but the broad scope of research and significance of certain results encouraged me to undertake such an attempt. If societies appreciate efforts by econophysicists, perhaps we will be able to avoid next economic crises and related losses. Econophysics is a transdisciplinary science based on the observation that physical objects and economic objects can share a common theory. Since logical homologies are its foundation, it is an example of the well-known isomorphism principle formulated by Ludwig von Bertalanffy. The emergence of interdisciplinary fields of knowledge is consistent with the paradigm of general systems theory. The development of a given field of knowledge is most often measured by its ability to formulate new knowledge about reality. Progress in research can be spoken of both when the application of traditional methods leads to the discovery of new facts and when new scientific laws are discovered using new methods. Econophysics is an attempt to develop economics through the transfer of research methods and techniques from physics to economics. We are therefore dealing here with a second possibility. The methods of physics most often applied in economics include the theory of stochastic processes, cellular automata and nonlinear dynamics. This study presents the most important existing achievements of econophysics and the attempts to reconcile them with traditional economic knowledge. The accomplishment of a paradigmatic correspondence between econophysics and economics, both in the local and in the global sense, is a prerequisite for using the achievements of the former in economic policy.

European scholars – patronage – rescue program – interdisciplinary pursuits
Opis:
The New School for Social Research was founded as an institution where intellectuals and artists could openly exchange ideas and theories, free from censure or political pressure. The school's founders believed that in a world engulfed by political turmoil and modern warfare, the free exchange of different ideas regarding politics, aesthetics and other intellectual pursuits was key to ensuring a just and sane world. The founders based the structure of The New School on the German Volkshochschulen, a school model that stressed the importance of adult education and a diversity of intellectual and interdisciplinary pursuits. Since its inception, The New School has maintained close ties with European ideas and philosophies of Rousseau, Kant, Goethe, Hegel, Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud, among many others. Sensing a dire need to provide safe haven for many of Europe's scholars and intellectuals, Alvin Johnson established a new graduate department in 1933 (coinciding with Hitler's appointment to German Chancellor), called the University in Exile. With the financial assistance of the Rockefeller Foundation and other philanthropy groups, the University in Exile was founded as a new graduate division within The New School and, more importantly, as a rescue program. Nearly two hundred European scholars and professors received visas and teaching jobs in the U.S. from the University in Exile. While many of them taught at The New School, there was never any stipulation from the University in Exile that they were required to do so. Alvin Johnson's main goal was simply to get people out of harm's way.

Opis:
Action research is one of the tools that a reflective teacher may use in order to solve specific problems they encounter in their daily teaching practice. The article describes action research carried out in a high school to investigate some of the reasons behind the poor performance of some first-year students. It has been observed that students’ lack of success during the first semester corresponds directly to their low results in the end-of-middle school exam, despite the fact that they were allocated to groups on the basis of a placement test. In a questionnaire survey students reflected upon their motivation, attitude, classroom anxiety, and assessed their performance against other group members. This article offers an analysis of the questionnaire results and attempts at presenting certain ways in which teachers could help students who did not manage to wipe the slate clean avoid some learning barriers.

Opis:
The traditional theater art of old Korea developed chiefly within the plebeian culture. Despite the lack of proper facilities and its condemnation by Korea’s intellectual elites during the Chosŏn dynasty (1392–1910), traditional Korean theater developed rapidly until the end of the 19th century. Traditional actors addressed their art to the lower class and exposed the pressing problems of contemporary Korea, but the gravity of the message was mitigated by a satirical, ribald and sometimes downright iconoclastic style. A shift in awareness occurred only in the beginning of the 20th century, when Japanese ‘new school’ (shimpa) theater groups started coming to the Korean Peninsula. They presented popular adaptations of famous Japanese sentimental novels and family sagas addressing the plays to the Japanese residents. Performances were primarily meant for the Japanese residents, but the Koreans were allowed to watch them, even though they were discouraged, at least in the first period, by the foreign theatrical convention and language. The first, and very staunch supporter of the Japanese ‘new school’ theater was Im Sŏng-gu (1887–1921). Together with his group Hyŏkshindan (‘innovation’) established in the beginning of the second decade of the 20th century, he started presenting the Korean audience simplified and adapted versions of Japanese shimpa plays, thus developing a new theater genre and initiating the development of the Korean modern theater. The main aim of this article is to describe the process of adapting the Japanese theater: to show which elements were borrowed from Japanese theater groups, e.g. the concept of onnagata, the theatrical convention, literary sources, tachimawari scenes, melodramatic acting style; to present achievements of Im Sŏng-gu who had to overcome cultural differences between Japan and Korea, political and social barriers and the aesthetic taste of the Korean audience; and finally to point out the consequence of Im Sŏng-gu’a artistic activity.

Opis:
The professionalism and competence of quality teaching practice in higher education institutions is becoming more significant since they try to respond to an increasingly diverse and perceptive student commu-nity’s issues concerning standards and quality in the global context. In the past several decades there are growing appeals for innovative re-search-based pedagogy that designs relationship-centred education as well as provides cutting edge professional development of the 21st cen-tury educators. The aim of our research is to further extend current knowledge of “student engagement” as a core aim of the NUS paradigm for the future of Ukraine’s higher education. The research has provided evidence for embedded sustainable partnership in the NUS that will sus-tain a strong sense of community among teachers and students. The key to achieving the development of such partnership learning communities are traced in NUS formula and its nine key elements are seen to encour-age their development. In order to identify and build a conceptual model for PoP in the NUS, the author of the given research attempted to map the territory of the primary school. The paper has led us to conclude the PoP, in our opinion, provides an opportunity to provide conditions for the development of the student’s creative personality, the implementa-tion of the tasks of the concept of the NUS, the creation of positive moti-vation of students for educational and cognitive activities, the need for self-knowledge, self-realization and self-improvement, the introduction of a modern approach to constructing a lesson, creating optimal condi-tions for developing the student’s creative abilities at lessons, developing social and civic competencies of the student.

The paper puts forth the hypothesis that we are currently experiencing the emergence of a new school in management and organisation sciences, which could be called the school of information and knowledge management. The emergence of this school is due to the development of IT (Information Technology). It responds to new needs arising from the development of management, economics, and computer technologies. The problems of e-commerce, as the most dynamically growing branch of the world economy, demand that new methods of management be applied. The development of this new school will depend on the development of IT and the extent to which it will be used in management.
