The research is focused on developing design theory towards efficient multifunctional facilities for logistics supply chains in the contemporary urban city structures. The development of modern systems based on autonomous transport creates new conditions for their management and generates an emerging need to define dedicated functional service structures. An important element of consideration also taken into account is the scenario for large-size unmanned facilities operation in the multifunctional port facility and its connections to power supply from renewable energy sources. Despite the high degree of complexity, modern transport solutions should be focused on optimizing the distribution time and trans-shipment time within the intermodal supply chain as well as provide ecological logistic solutions. Due to the large number of system components, the study presents a simplified database structure allowing for a comprehensive technological overview within the entire system.

Celem tego artykułu było ukazanie istoty logistyki w Formule 1, na praktycznym przykładzie wyzwania – potrójnego weekendu wyścigowego. Opisano logistyczne czynności podejmowane w celu przygotowania toru w Monako. Znaczenie logistyki i logistycznych procesów znacząco wzrosło od czasu początku Formuły 1. Jest to efekt zwiększenia ilości wyścigów w sezonie oraz organizacji Grand Prix na torach całego świata. W celu obsługi łańcucha dostaw, każdy z zespołów zatrudnia logistycznych koordynatorów, którzy zajmują się poprawnym działaniem łańcucha dostaw. Zespoły oraz zarząd Formuły 1 korzystają dodatkowo z usług oficjalnego partnera logistycznego tej serii wyścigowej, jakim jest DHL. Współpraca ta trwa od 2004 r., a w 2021 r. zawarto kolejny, wieloletni kontrakt. Więcej wyścigów w sezonie sprawia, że wyścigi odbywają się z coraz większą częstotliwością, co wymaga organizacji skomplikowanego przedsięwzięcia logistycznego, jakim jest triple header, czyli wyścigi w 3 kolejne weekendy. Wyzwanie to wymaga znacznej precyzji oraz zaangażowania, ponieważ cały ekwipunek musi zostać przetransportowany najczęściej do odległej lokalizacji następnego wyścigu w przeciągu zaledwie 2 dni.
The aim of this article was to show an importance of logistics in Formula 1 on the practical example – triple header. Logistic activities taken in order to prepare a race circuit in Monaco were also described. The importance of logistics and logistic processes have grown significantly since the beginning of Formula 1. This is the result of increasing the number of races in a single season and organizing Grand Prix on tracks around the world. In order to handle the supply chain, each team employs logistic coordinators who ensure the supply chain works properly. In addition, teams and Formula 1 management benefit from the cooperation with DHL which is the official logistics partner of this racing series since 2004 and will be in the next few years. More races in the single season means that races take place more frequently which requires the organization of a complicated logistical challenge, such as triple header – races on 3 consecutive weekends. This challenge equals to high precision and commitment, because equipment has to be transported in just 2 days to a location of the next race which often is remote.

Product-Service System (PSS) has been perceived since the 90s as a concept supporting enterprises of various industries in creating a competitive advantage and generating new value for customers by expanding the offer with additional services related to the product. Product-Service System (PSS) draws attention to the life cycle of products and services and the circular economy, which supports sustainable development. All the time, practitioners and theorists report the need to develop new Product-Service System (PSS) for other industries. Until now, a number of practical and methodological aspects related to design remain unresolved. The paper presents issues related to the Product-Service System (PSS) and PSS design. A literature review and gaps in available methods are presented. A conceptual framework for Product-Service System (PSS) design that has been used in the logistics industry is presented. By referring to the design of a selected process from the logistics industry, it was presented how to analyze the process during design and what methods of design support to use. Reference is made to mathematical modeling based on the optimization function and computer modeling with the use of a simulation model. Attention was also paid to the importance of knowledge of the industry and having expert knowledge about the designed processes in the systems. It is also extremely important to have the appropriate data set for a given case. In addition to the general mathematical and computer model, reference was also made to a chosen element of Product-Service System (PSS). The mathematical and simulation model included in the study refer to the process of completing customer orders in a logistics company. It is one of the most laborious and time-consuming processes. The FlexSim simulation environment was used to perform the computer simulation. A total of 15 variants were considered, which differ in terms of the scope of services provided during the process. The scope of services significantly affects the cost, time and profit. The purpose of the constructed model is to find a variant for the adopted data in which the profits will be maximized while maintaining the constraints imposed on the system.

Opis:
Purpose: This publication focuses on issues related to logistics management. The aim of this publication is to show the possibility of creating a logistics center within logistic networks. Design/methodology/approach: This publication uses a conceptual method based on observations, sales forecasts and distance analysis of logistics centers. Findings: The analysis of the collected and presented data as part of the concept of creating a logistics center Lviv-Rzeszów shows that such an action is justified, in particular in economic terms. The study shows that the optimization of processes as part of the implementation of the concept would allow for many benefits for the economy and regional development, as well as for the transport and logistics industry itself. Research Limitation/implication: During the study, there were limitations related to obtaining empirical data. The most important implication of the study is the statement that the planned investment will bring significant benefits to entrepreneurs and other market stakeholders. Originality/Value of paper: The publication showed the possibilities of using the new logistics center Lviv-Rzeszów and its impact regional and business development.

The outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic and the actions that all countries took in its aftermath all over the world in the first quarter of 2020 and later, i.e., during lockdowns and other restrictive measures, introducing a short and medium-term freezing of economic activity, had a strong impact on their economies and, consequently, also on the global economy. They hit seriously its particularly sensitive sectors, such as industry, trade and transport. The aim of undertaken research is to evaluate the impact of the pandemic on the functioning of maritime transport sector as well as to indicate its consequences for the global supply chains between 2020 and 2021 (first quarter). The research is mainly focused on assessing the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the global shipping and especially container one that is contemporarily the most vital link of the global intermodal land-sea supply chains. The analyses take into account the adaptive measures taken by ship operators and other individual parties being an integral link of the global supply chains with an aim to mitigate the effects of radical slowdown in industrial and global trade activity. The research was based on the analyses, reports and several business information carried out by specialized international organizations as well as ship carriers and logistics providers. The obtained research results indicate the need to reconfigure global logistics supply chains and increase their resilience by introducing new digital solutions. It is high time to introduce new smart, green digital supply chains and subsequently to reconfigure them much more towards the regional trade and economic relations and ties among countries (reshoring). Such activities aiming at rebuilding the logistic supply chains may at the same time change the presently existing business environment in global maritime shipping, enforcing not only changes in ship owners’ business models but also serious structural alterations on the shipping freight markets.

Artykuł poświęcony jest problematyce kształtowania logistycznego łańcucha dostaw w kontekście doboru partnerów jako ogniw całego łańcucha. Pytaniem badawczym, na które starano się uzyskać odpowiedź jest: czy zaufanie i społeczna odpowiedzialności biznesu są w praktyce biznesowej istotne w doborze partnerów w budowaniu łańcucha dostaw. Zastosowana metoda to analiza stanu wiedzy oraz badania jakościowe dotyczące wybranych przedsiębiorstw, oparte o dobre praktyki biznesowe. Podjęta problematyka koncentruje się na decyzjach o doborze partnerów w kontekście respektowania przez nich koncepcji społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu oraz budowania reputacji i wiarygodności poprzez wzajemne zaufanie. Celem badania jest podkreślenie znaczenia zaufania i społecznie odpowiedzianego biznesu w doborze partnerów stanowiących podstawę konfigurowania łańcucha dostaw. W badaniu wyeksponowano rolę Społecznej Odpowiedzialność Biznesu (CSR) w doborze solidnych i wiarygodnych ogniw tworzących łańcuch dostaw. Wnioski koncertują się na konieczności doskonalenia i eksponowania działań wzmacniających zaufanie i społeczną odpowiedzialność biznesu w kształtowaniu łańcucha dostaw. Najważniejsze dotyczącą między innymi określania zasad współpracy, w tym kryteriów doboru dostawców i podwykonawców ukierunkowanych na ochronę środowiska oraz zrównoważony rozwój, monitorowania spełniania przez nich dostaw określonych w warunkach współpracy, wspierania dostawców i podwykonawców w ich dążeniu do budowania zaufania i kształtowania zasad społecznej odpowiedzialności biznesu oraz zrównoważonego rozwoju, a także w prowadzeniu wspólnych inicjatyw i projektów społecznych.
The article is devoted to the issues of shaping the logistics supply chain in the context of selecting partners as links in the entire chain. The research question to which the answer was sought is: whether trust and corporate social responsibility are important in business practice in the selection of partners in building the supply chain. The method used is an analysis of the state of knowledge and qualitative research on selected enterprises based on good business practices. The undertaken issues focus on decisions about the selection of partners in the context of their respect for the concept of corporate social responsibility and building reputation and credibility through mutual trust. The aim of the study is to emphasize the importance of trust in the selection of partners that are the basis for configuring the supply chain, taking into account the concept of corporate social responsibility. The role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the selection of reliable links constituting the supply chain was emphasized. The conclusions focus on the need to improve and highlight activities that strengthen trust and corporate social responsibility in shaping the supply chain. The most important conclusions regarding, inter alia, determining the principles of cooperation, including criteria for selecting suppliers and subcontractors focused on environmental protection and sustainable development, monitoring the fulfillment of their supplies specified in the terms of cooperation, supporting suppliers and subcontractors in their quest to build trust and shaping the principles of corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, and in carrying out joint initiatives and social projects.

Logistics activities are present in different business functions, which is why unified decision making in logistics has a significant effect on the organization of logistics processes in companies. Scientific literature highlights various aspects of logistics decision making, but so far, no survey has been conducted that can accurately illustrate the effect of centralized logistics and the effect of the level of Logistics knowledge of employees from other departments on unified decision making in the organization of logistics processes. For this purpose, a statistical analysis was carried out on a sample of companies from the Slovenian automotive industry, which is one of theleading high-tech industries in the world. The results of multiple linear regression show that the greater the knowledge of logistics among the employees from other departments, the more logistics costs are taken into account during the development of the product. This is an important finding for the automotive industry, as well as for other manufacturing industries, especially with respect to efficient planning of Logistics processes, starting from the early stages of product development. This enables better control over logistics costs, as all business functions within the company participate in the process. The results presented here highlight future guidelines for the organisation of logistics processes in the high-tech automotive industry. It was verified by multiple linear regression.

Goal – the main purpose of this article is to substantiate the organizational capabilities of the formation of digital bioclusters in the Brest region. In this regard, the issues of building supply chains during the period of technological structure change are considered, especially on the basis of bioproduct specifics, since they become the most relevant in the general spectrum of scientific problems of economic theory and practice. Research methodology – the authors of the study focused on descriptive and monographic methods, cluster analysis and assessment of institutional effectiveness. Score/results – in this article, the authors present conclusions and results on the systematization of the whole complex of problems in the formation of supply chains of bioproducts and the possibility of the formation of bioclusters in the Brest region. Originality/value – the article presents original original material, since it is published for the first time and has a high potential for practical application, which leads to the presence of a corresponding added value within the framework of the study and confirms its scientific value.

Transport is one of the key elements allowing to achieve goals, tasks and plans. Transport need results from the necessity of moving from one place to another. To make it happen, the resource in the form of a means of transport is necessary. Another aspect is organizational actions. The basic source of transport demand is diversity of distribution of the factors allowing to run business. Due to globalization of economy, range and frequency of transports have considerably increased. New logistic chains, networks of terminals and intermodal connections are being created every year. The goal of all these actions is to reduce transport costs and improve the whole process. The authors of this article set a goal of defining the role of optimization of transport costs using a consolidation service. Conducted analysis confirmed that consolidation services reduce the costs of transport of small cargos.

The articule shows the essence of security, in a special way the essence of economic security is presented, structure and the basic problems connected with it, as well as general factors of that security. Autorka ukazuje ważną problematykę, spojrzenia na logistykę przedsiębiorstw od strony bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego, przedstawia podstawowe determinanty bezpieczeństwa ekonomicznego na jakie należy, zwrócić uwagę w logistyce, m.in. kwestie finansowe, organizacyjno – zarządcze, międzynarodowe oraz technologiczno – rozwojowe. Jednocześnie artykuł ukazuje w jaki sposób przedsiębiorstwa powinny funkcjonować, ażeby utrzymać się na rynku i mieć możliwość zdobycia przewagi konkurencyjnej na rynku.

Background: The article provides a discussion on freight transport planning. The existing solutions applied in this sphere have been compared with the environment-related needs. The concept which has been proposed involves a dedicated travel planner that takes some additional non-standard criteria into consideration. At the same time, the authors have highlighted the necessity to expand the algorithms being applied, and to address the comprehensive nature of the problem. However, it is the first and last mile section of supply chains on which the article focuses. The planner described in the paper is being developed as a part of an integrated platform implemented under the international S-mile project. Research methodology: The solutions proposed for transport planning purposes include application of ICT. A review of the available solutions has made it possible to indicate one of the planners currently in use as the foundation upon which a more advanced freight transport planning tool dedicated to the first/last mile section can be built. The planner requires application of several optimisation algorithms, including those which consider route parameters, the selection of fleet vehicles available for the given task, cargo distribution over the vehicle etc. The article defines both primary and secondary criteria that such a planner should take into account, including the environmental ones. What the authors have also highlighted is the possibility to make use of open data sources. The approach they have proposed makes it possible to raise the level of environmental awareness at the first and the last mile management stage, and since multiple transport aspects have been addressed, it also increases planning efficiency. Goals: The purpose of the article has been to discuss an eco-friendly solution which may limit the negative environmental impact of transport. Conclusions: The solution described in the paper may change the manner in which freight transport is managed in cities. Taking environmental criteria into consideration makes it possible to reduce the negative environmental impact of transport. Planning of freight transport requires that far more criteria should be taken into account compared to route planning for the travelling population. A comprehensive fleet management platform featuring a planning module combined with other modules of the S-mileSys system being currently developed is also aimed at integration of large freight companies with the carriers that service first and last miles.

The work is aimed at analysing the state and prospects of implementing the export potential of the agrarian sector of Ukraine, the structure of which is based on the principles of transition from the abstract to the concrete. The study begins with the definition of factors that shape the export opportunities of the agrarian sector, namely: the quality of the factors of agricultural production (objects of labour, means of labour); the branch structure of agricultural production; the state of the systems of certification and quality control of export products; the diversification of markets; the access to financial resources; the level of the marketing support of export; the mechanisms of the realization of the state export policy; the state of development of agro-logistics. It has been proved that in the short term, the production components are not decisive in the processes of using and expanding the existing export potential of the national agrarian sector. In the modern conditions the state of logistics infrastructure is coming to the forefront. In the general problem of agro-logistics, the following levels are distinguished: micro-, meso-, macro-, and supranational. In each of them we have identified "the bottlenecks" of the process of building up export potential from the point of view of agro-logistics. The ways of increasing the export potential of the agrarian sector in Ukraine have been proposed. These include: the development of container transportation sphere; the creation of effective mechanisms for directing funds of united territorial communities for the development of regional logistics infrastructure; the reform of Ukrzaliznytsia (JSC „Ukrainian Railways”); the development of alternative variants of supply chains by improving the infrastructure of the automobile and river transport; the expansion of the representation of Ukraine in the world governmental and non-governmental organizations in order to protect the national trade interests; the formation of the system of training personnel capable of adapting to changing market conditions.

Warunkiem zapewnienia odpowiedniego wsparcia logistycznego procesom gospodarczym jest stworzenie właściwego systemu logistycznego kraju, odpowiedzialnego za sprawną racjonalizację przepływów rzeczy i osób. Ważnym komponentem takiego systemu jest transport kolejowy. Zaprojektowany i realizowany program rozwoju kolei wynika wprost z rządowej Strategii Odpowiedzialnego Rozwoju. Artykuł stanowi prezentację wybranych celów, narzędzi, jak również sposobów urzeczywistniania strategicznej wizji rozwoju krajowego systemu logistycznego, której główną myślą przewodnią ma być synergia uzyskiwana poprzez makrooptymalizację czasu, kosztów i uzyskiwanych efektów.
The strategy of PKP S.A., adopted in 2016, assumes particular directions and aims of development of the national railways within the framework of the new vision, shaped by social and economic aims and logistics functions in the system of the Polish economy. The condition for providing adequate logistics support to economic processes is the creation of the suitable national logistics system responsible for the effective rationalisation of the flow of goods and people. An important component of such a system is the railway transport. The designed and executed development programme of railways results straight from the governmental Strategy of Responsible Development (SOR). The article presents the chosen aims, tools and ways of realisation of the strategic vision of development of the domestic logistics system, in which the central idea is the synergy obtained by the macro optimisation of time, costs and achieved effects.
