Artykuł przedstawia analizę tematyczną czasopisma w latach 2020–2021 w kontekście aktywności bibliotekarzy i bibliotek ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem działań zaradczych pandemii dla użytkowników bibliotek.
The „Bibliotekarz” monthly has been published since 1919. According to its profile, it is devoted to librarians and libraries. The COVID-19 pandemic has reorganized library activities. The article presents a thematic analysis of the journal in 2020–2021 in the context of the activity of librarians and libraries, with particular emphasis on pandemic remedial actions for library users.

Omówiona została m.in. geneza powstania pisma, krąg autorów oraz tematyka poruszana na łamach periodyku bibliotekarskiego. Uzupełnieniem tekstu jest dołączona bibliografia obejmująca zawartość siedemnastu numerów czasopisma.
The aim of the article is to present the regional professional librarian journal entitled „Closer to the Library. The magazine of librarians of south-eastern Wielkopolska” published by PBP Książnica Pedagogiczna im. Alfons Parczewski in Kalisz since 2013. It was discussed, among other things the origin of the journal, the circle of authors and the topics discussed in the library periodical. The text is supplemented with a bibliography including the content of seventeen issues of the journal.

Opis:: Polish librarianship in the stalinist period (1948-1956) had to face new challenges. In the changed political and social reality, both the role of a librarian and the functions performed by public and scientific libraries had to be redefined. The profile of vocational education also changed. From the various materials (papers, guidelines of the party and departmental authorities, reports, protocols of the Polish Librarians and Archivists Union) published in professional journals of the time, „Przegląd Biblioteczny”, „Bibliotekarz” and „Poradnik Bibliotekarza”, it appears that librarians had to focus on the ideological aspect of their work, educating the reader in the socialist spirit.

Opis:: This text is a complement to the presented a year ago in the translation into Polish, Jacques Chaplain’s review which is a fragmentary overview of the three volume monograph by a worldknown physicist Emmanuel Desurvire, devoted to his ancestor, Karol Edmund Chojecki (1822−1899). Source materials, meticulously collected by the French biographer — family archives and other documents that were not printed before — enable us to get to know closely this Polish emigrant of the era of Romanticism, known in France under the pseudonym Charles Edmond, inter alia of the side of various, closer or further relationships with the representatives of French culture, science and politics of that time (such as Gustave Flaubert, Georges Sand, Louis Blanc or Georges Clemenceau), as well as his own creative achievements (in the fields of playwriting, dramaturgy, publicism and art of translation) and their twentieth century reception. Desurvire’s work — of impressive size and substantive content — has been currently published for the second time. The second edition, revised and bearing indices is completed with the two-volume supplement.

Opis:: Przeprowadzone badania są ewaluacją sondażu wykonanego w 2013 r. Ankieta miała na celu sprawdzenie poziomu satysfakcji użytkowników Biblioteki Politechniki Lubelskiej. W ankiecie zawarto pytania dotyczące m.in. jakości usług poszczególnych agend, oferty biblioteki, oczekiwań wobec bibliotekarzy oraz form działalności Biblioteki.
The conducted research is an evaluation of a survey conducted in 2013. The survey was intended to gauge the level of satisfaction of the users of the Lublin University of Technology Library. The survey contains questions regarding, among other things, the quality of services of particular branches, the resources and programme of the library, the expectations about the librarians, and the forms of activity of the Library.
Проведенные исследования являются частью опроса проведенного в 2013 г. Его главная цель – узнать уровень удовлетворения пользователей Библиотеки Политехники в Люблине. Вопросы касались например качества услуг разных отделений, оферты Библиотеки, ожиданий пользователей и форм деятельности Библиотеки.

Opis:: This article presents the library of the theological seminary in canonical terms. The library of the seminary is an institution which collects, processes and offers readers the collections owned by the seminary. The first part of this article shows the necessity for the seminary library. It then describes the collection of the seminary library, which should contain primarily works in the field of Christian philosophy, psychology, theological sciences and materials necessary for learning foreign languages. It is emphasized that the seminary library is not only a book collection, but also the entire infrastructure, the aim of which is to serve the functioning of the library. The paper also presents those people who are in charge of the seminary library: a diocesan bishop, the rector of the seminary and a librarian, as well as other library staff, both full-time ones and volunteers.

Opis:: W artykule została podjęta próba oceny, co stało się w ostatnich latach w Polsce z zawodem bibliotekarza. Wykorzystywany do coraz nowych zadań i pojawiający się w coraz to nowych konfiguracjach, nie miał jednak szczęścia do ogólnych procesów społecznych: marnował się w nieudolnym polskim procesie legislacyjnym, uchodził uwadze elit, a jego powstający kanon wiedzy został wchłonięty i zdominowany przez naukę instytucjonalną, z czego nie wynikł ani rezonans społeczny, ani zastosowania praktyczne, ani spójność pojęć i praktyk. Funkcjonuje dobrze na pozornie niszowych, a w rzeczywistości rozległych polach na styku kultury wysokiej i niskiej oraz w obsłudze nauki i procesu badawczego. Zaproponowano kilka ogólnych pojęć, mających wskazywać na jego integralność i perspektywy.
The article attempts to assess what has happened in Poland in recent years with the profession of a librarian. The profession was used for ever new tasks and appeared in various new configurations, but it had no luck with general social processes: it was wasted in the inept Polish legislative process, escaped the attention of the elite, and its emerging canon of knowledge was absorbed and dominated by institutional science, of which neither social resonance, nor practical applications, nor consistency of concepts and practices emerged. In fact, it functions at the meeting point of high and low culture, and in servicing science and the research process. Several general concepts have been proposed to indicate its integrity and perspective.

Opis:: The paper is devoted to the issue of teaching information literacy (IL ) in Polish library environments. The first part presents the state of the art, basing on analysis of Polish and foreign professional texts. Next, the origin of the very concept of information literacy and its definition, as well as models, standards, and guidelines related to it, are elaborated. Much attention is paid to the problems of teaching information skills in higher education, while stressing the special role of librarians in the process. Issues related to involving games in the teaching process and their possible modes of application are also discussed. Finally, a prototypical field game scenario which route proceeds within the Reference Reading Room of the Jagiellonian Library is presented.

Opis:: W artykule przybliżono postać Andre Norton – amerykańskiej bibliote-karki, pisarki oraz popularyzatorki literatury fantastyczno-naukowej i fantasy, szcze-gólnie wśród młodych odbiorców. Przedstawiono zarys biografii, pracę i działalność biblioteczną A. Norton. Analizie poddano jej twórczość, ze szczególnym uwzględnie-niem serii „Świat Czarownic” (ang. „Witch World”). Podjęto próbę wyjaśnienia feno-menu popularności książek fantasy tejże autorki i jej roli w kreowaniu pozytywnych postaw i wzorców u odbiorców. W pracy opisano również High Hallack – specjali-styczną bibliotekę dla pisarzy i miłośników literatury fantastycznej, którą stworzyła.
The article presents the figure of Andre Norton – an American librarian, writer and promoter of science fiction and fantasy, particularly among the younger readers. The article discusses her biography, her creative work as well as her work as a librarian. To that end, the author analyzes her works of fiction, in particular her Witch World series, attempting to explain their popularity and Norton’s role in creat-ing positive attitudes and values among her readers. Moreover, the article discusses also High Hallack, a specialized library created by Norton for the writers and readers of science fiction and fantasy.

Opis:: Problem podnoszenia kwalifikacji bibliotekarzy w bibliotekach uczelnianych ujawnił się po zmianach w przepisach odnoszących się do szkolnictwa wyższego, w tym zawodu bibliotekarza, obniżających rangę bibliotekarza dyplomowanego (naukowego). Osiągnięcia naukowe, pedagogiczne i organizacyjne bibliotekarzy do 2013 roku świadczą o konieczności intensywnego i ustawicznego podnoszenia kwalifikacji bibliotekarza dyplomowanego.
The problem of improving the qualifications of librarians in university libraries has emerged after changes in higher education legislation, including the profession of librarian and lowering the rank of diploma (academic) librarian. The academic, pedagogical and organizational achievements of librarians till 2013 demonstrate the need for intensive and continuous upgrading of the qualifications of a diploma librarian.

Poznań 2019, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 213–238. ISSN 1644-6763. DOI 10.14746/pt.2019.32.11. Using selected films, a picture of library buildings and their interiors from the 1950s to the present day has been created. The vast majority of libraries are “temples of knowledge”, and librarians (invariably educated and relatively unattractive women) are the “guardians” of the collections. Contemporary film rarely depicts shows libraries as a system not to be overestimated “in the times of smart phones and social media”. Filmmakers’ attention is drawn mainly the interesting architecture of library interiors to, in which “library scenes” are set, hence the aura of library is seldom perceptible. Książnice is often the backdrop or part of the story told in the film, and sometimes reveal other features such as the genre and other books important to the characters.
