Opis:
The meaning of a word has a layered structure with the clearly distinguished center (prototype, lexical meaning) and – the further towards the peripheries – with semantic connotations more and more weak-established in the system. Giving-up ofthe purely structuralist understanding of connotations (verified by semantic and morphological derivatives, collocations, repeatable lexical oppositions, or various tests) has created a danger that semantically irrelevant components may be recognized as relevant qualities. The article proposes a rule for verification of weak connotations. Underlying the principle of internal motivation of qualities is the conviction that the meaning of a word is internally structured, while each quality, especially weak connotations, are motivated by the overall structure of meaning and are explained in the context of this structure.

Opis:
Reflections on the uniquely human dimensions of behavior over the last few decades have become a meeting space connecting different sciences. The holistic health model emphasizes the subjectivity of man. Humans are open and active, and remain in relationships with others; they relate to the world they live in and seek meaning. Subjectivity in the psychological perspective can be described in three ways: subjectivity as identity, individuality, specific experience of self; subjectivity as the ability to initiate, regulate, direct, and realize goal-oriented and autonomous activity; subjectivity as the application of one’s own system of values. Subjectivity or causality (core features agency) expresses itself in the ability to make choices and planning, but also to directing actions and the realization of plans. The motivation to begin psychotherapy is influenced by numerous motives and conditions. Internal motivation is the main subjective resource in therapy. People internally motivated function better in better areas of life. They are characterized by greater involvement, activity, trust in their own abilities, persistence, creativity, a feeling of self-worth and general well-being. They experience engagement and immersion in the activities they undertake. The experience of causality – understood as the experience of being the author of events, the experience of having influence over events – is the fundamental cause without which the feeling of self-causality will not appear during development. As noted by R. White, it is a fundamental experience for good functioning and coping with the challenges of life, including illness.

Many European children begin to learn a (foreign) language at a very early age, and early foreign language learning has thus evolved into a paradigm that seems to have settled as a steady companion of everyday school life. The aim of this contribution, which addresses the topic of early foreign language learning from the participant’s, i.e. the student’s, point-of-view, is to determine students’ reasons for learning a foreign language, as articulated by the students themselves. The research analysis will investigate the motivational aspects that influence learning, and will also illustrate and interpret the research results of a study in which approx. 300 students aged 6-10 years from 9 different countries participated. The analysis will not be country specific, but will highlight common motivational features that recur in all the students’ replies and reveal – as expected-not a linguistic, but a decisively pragmatic focus in the process of language learning.

Then it presents the possible achievements and crosslinguistic influences in language acquisition of a very young child. Finally, it outlines the critical aspects of FL methodology that are necessary for progress in early FLL.

Despite an emerging interest in work attitudes (job, career and calling), researchers know little about whether these attitudes matter in the workplace. We explore the under-examined relationship between work attitudes and work outcomes (work satisfaction and internal work motivation) among the teachers of Northwest A&F University China. Although some theory suggests that calling may be strongly correlated with work satisfaction, this study predicted that a career attitude is more positively associated with work satisfaction. The correlation analysis revealed a significant and positive relationship between career, calling and work outcomes as well as a significant and negative relationship between job and work outcomes. The multiple regression analysis indicated a significant impact of career and calling on work satisfaction but only calling has a significant impact on internal work motivation. Further, based on this study, we suggest that work attitudes as a predictor of work satisfaction can give very useful insights into redesigning jobs for the higher education sector in order to increase the level of job satisfaction and motivation of teachers.

Over the past several years the number of students learning Spanish as a foreign language has doubled in Poland. The present article is an attempt at answering the following questions: Why is Spanish so popular in Polish schools and what are the reasons for choosing this language by Polish students? The authors wish to analyze the situation from the point of view of two types of motivation: internal (integral) motivation and external (instrumental) motivation. The results of our study have been compared to the results of corresponding studies carried out among Polish students learning German. At the opening of our deliberations we present the definitions and typical features of motivation. Next the typology and origin of motivation is discussed, which incorporates both the cognitive and affective approach. Finally, we submit the results of a pilot study performed among Polish middle school and high school students who learn Spanish.

Opis:
The article deals with the problem of increasing the internal motivation of foreign students to learn Ukrainian language. Taking into account motivational factors is an important condition for the successful formation of a secondary linguistic personality, which has a sufficient degree of communicative competence and is able to adapt to a new cultural environments. Purpose. Basing on the practical experience of working with Indian medical students in learning Ukrainian language, as well as on the studies of domestic and foreign scientists, the purpose of the article is to consider the motivational factors contributing to successful formation of the secondary linguistic personality, that is, the person who is involved in the culture of people whose native language is taught; to find out the conditions for increasing the effectiveness of educational activities, focusing on methodical techniques aimed at creating positive communication atmosphere. Methods: method of empirical research with the aim of learning pedagogical experience (observation, comparison, generalization); method of theoretical research with the aim of studying theoretical foundations that should be taken into account when solving practical problems (analysis, synthesis, modeling). Conclusions. Thus, the development of motivation in process of learning of Ukrainian as a foreign language entirely depends on the activity of the teacher, his flexibility and creativity. The educational process should be organized as efficiently as possible, using the most diverse pedagogical conditions – the use of interactive learning techniques, digital technologies, the use of linguistic and culturological materials, the creation of a supportive communicative atmosphere favorable for experiencing a situation of success. Only based on systematic and complex use of these conditions is it possible to predictably increase the level of motivation to study Ukrainian as a foreign language. Good language proficiency is a long-lasting, difficult process where the teacher uses different techniques, and the best result in the formation of the secondary linguistic personality will be achieved when a motivated student is well aware of his purpose and perceives creatively the implementation of communicative tasks.

Learning foreign languages is one of the most important skills intended for all adult learners and lasting all their lives. Because of processes of globalization in the world, knowing foreign languages is perceived as being very valuable. Motivation can be described as an entity of external and internal factors which encourage a person to achieve certain goals. External motivation is influenced by a variety of external factors, i.e. a wish to get a better paid job, a possibility to travel abroad or success at an exam. Internal motivation is largely dependent on a person him/herself. It can be emotions caused by the process of learning or a desire to feel comfortable in multicultural surroundings. There are various factors that emerge when adults learn foreign languges: career, change of job or living place, family reasons, free-time and etc. In addition, every person should be encouraged to learn foreign languages and conditions must be met to achieve that. This paper presents a research carried out in 2012 by Vytautas Magnus University lecturers. Its aim was to determine the factors that motivate adult learners to study foreign languages in the extra-mural studies at Vytautas Magnus University as well as in English and Russian language courses for the general public at the university. For the research, 130 questionnaires were distributed among adult learners. In the questionnaires the respondents were asked to indicate the motivating factors that make them learn foreign languages, their learning experiences and difficulties. Afterwards, the respondents were asked to indicate what skills and competences they expect to acquire and if their expectations and needs for studying were met.

The article presents the method of studying of value-motivational factors of political activity. The analysis of terminological and theoretical premises of research of value-motivational factors of political activity is done. Author’s approach to organization of empirical research of psychology of minority political activity is proposed. Correlation of values and motivation, dynamics of social, activity and personal mechanisms of personality development are considered in the terminological analysis. Using of three factor theory by D. McClelland to empirical research of value-motivational factors of political activity is justified. Based on analysis of research methods of value-motivational factors the content analysis system that allows to measure individual motivational tendencies and qualitative features of human motivation is described. Based on the analysis of H.Hekhauzen’s research 4 types of situations of the development and implementation of political values and motivation are singled out: 1) the self comparison with own achievements; 2) the self comparison with standart; 3) social comparison with a real opponent; 4) social comparisons with generalized or personalized ideal. Structure of the research of value-motivational factors of political activity comprises the steps of photobiographical research, expert evaluation and value grates building. Analysis of the results provides quantitative and qualitative interpretation. Quantitative analysis includes content analysis of the structure of motivation and levels of the value regulation, and the factor modeling. Categories of content analysis can explore the achievement motivation (success motive and the motive of avoiding failure), power motivation and motivation of affiliation (adoption). Each of the categories of content analysis is analyzed for compliance motivational components to one of value levels - social, processual or subjective. The categories for content analysis of achievement motivation is the need to achieve success or to avoid failure, the corresponding instrumental activity, expectations of success or failure, positive or negative reinforcement, emotional state and result. The study of power motive is through singling of categories of prestige, instrumental activity aimed at power, external interference, power anticipation, emotional states, the effect of power action. Content analysis of affiliation motives includes an analysis following categories: positive emotions, dialogue, growth, loyalty, freedom from restrictions, reunification, harmony, conquest to sense, a refuge in a relationship, unity with nautre. As for the level of value, the article noted that on social level individual development is determined by the needs for approval and recognition and reflection is directed to understanding of referential awareness of assessments and forecasting of the basis of their own development.
