Opis:
Impacts geology is a multi-disciplinary science, focus aspects of meteoritics, astronomy, petrography, geochemistry, structural geology, sedimentology and geophysics. The first studies of craters began in the 60s. Significant events in the development of this science were: the first research of the Cosmos, development of mineralogical and geochemistry analysis and important papers. Significant progress in the development of research studies reflect the number of newly discovered craters. Many aspects associated with them, such as dating, strewnfields, water impacts are still fairly problematic.

Opis:
The warming of the climate of the Earth has been unequivocal, most notably due to the mancaused increase of atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases, leading to intensification of the greenhouse effect. Projections for the future explain that we are commited to further, possibly even more intense, warming, whose rate depends on the scenario of socio-economic development and effective climate change mitigation policy. If the global emissions grow in uncontrolled way and carbon sequestration potential decreases, the warming can attain a dangerous dimension. Global warming induces change in all variables of hydroclimatic systems. As demonstrated in the present contribution, the impacts of global climat change – both advantageous and (more often) adverse can be noted in all regions of the globe and in all systems and sectors, some of which are particularly vulnerable. Yet, many of these impacts can be avoided, reduced, or delayed, by effective climate change mitigation.

Opis:
Research background: Social security systems combine several subsystems aimed at addressing the risks of temporary or permanent loss of an individual's income. The subject of the research are parametric changes of alternative public policy aimed at addressing the temporary loss of income caused by the dropout from the labour market due to childcare. The effects of public policies may be fiscally neutral from the entire system, but not from the point of view of the individual. Purpose of the article: The purpose of this study is to examine the fiscal and redistributive effects of parametric changes in social insurance subsystem with an accent on maternity benefits in the conditions of the Slovak Republic by using a modified microsimulation model. Methods: Using a microsimulation model, we investigate the impacts of the alternative policy setting. Microsimulation model contains four basic modules (i) macroeconomic module, (ii) demographic module simulating future population structure from 2017 to 2080 (iii) status module modelling particular attributes (characteristics), (iv) social policy module. The model is applied to maternity benefits in two scenarios in the Slovak Republic: scenario 1 ? the current legislative setting of maternity benefit policy parameters and scenario 2 ? dynamic maternity benefit. Findings & value added: Results in the area of redistributive impacts in social insurance focused on maternity benefits show that dynamic policy parameters can positively affect work-life balance, especially for individuals with higher education. The results in the area of fiscal impacts show that the dynamic model of maternity benefits increases the efficiency of public spending and stimulates the faster return on the labour market. The results indicate the direction of possible government interventions and provide valuable information for policy makers in areas public policies that are associated with temporary labour market dropouts in the case of maternity.

Opis:
The discovery of antibiotics has helped to save the lives of an uncountable number of people. Unfortunately, their misuse and other related factors have led to the emergence and development of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most serious threats to public health globally and threatens the ability to treat infectious diseases. The factors that contribute for the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance are complex non-prudent use of antibiotics in veterinary and human medicine is, in large part, responsible for the emergence of antibiotic resistance. Inappropriate prescription practices, inadequate education, poor drug quality, limited rapid diagnostic test facilities, poor hygiene, infection prevention and control practice are also other factors contribute for the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance. Due to the emergency of new resistant bacteria and decrease in efficiency of treating common infectious diseases, it results in failure of microbial response to standard treatment, leading to prolonged illness, higher expenditures for health care, and an immense risk of death. Considering these serious impacts of antibiotic resistance several solutions have been proposed including antibiotic stewardship, educational program, hygiene, infection prevention and control strategy, adapting rapid methods for detecting resistance bacteria as well as developing new antibiotics and alternative therapeutic agents.

Opis:
Transportation appraisal has a potential important role in prioritization of transportation investment projects and other transportation measures. Appraisal practices vary much over countries and time, but these differences are not fully known. More knowledge on the variation in practices may contribute to smoother knowledge exchange between countries and more informed choices in the further development of each national practice. In this paper, we present both an updated mapping and a meta-analysis of impact coverage in national appraisal guidelines for transportation measures and spatial measures more generally. Our updated mapping of impact coverage covers 18 national and regional guideline sets and 44 sorts of impact. It shows rather similar overall impact coverage in the reviewed guidelines for economic, social and environmental impacts. The most advanced appraisal practices are found in Northern and Western Europe and Oceania. We find that supplementary quantitative analyses are most common for economic impacts, while multi-criteria analyses are most common for environmental impacts. Our meta-analysis covers ours and 15 earlier impact mappings, jointly covering 42 countries and regions. In this examination, we show how impact coverage in appraisal practices has improved over time, particularly for environmental, user and wider economic impacts. The meta-analysis also reveals that Western and Northern European and Oceanian countries and dependencies have had the widest impact coverage from 1998 to 2020, both in CB and overall. To examine what characterize countries with broad and narrow impact coverage, we have applied econometric regression models that are linear (i.e. linear least squares), quasi-linear (i.e. Tobit) and fractional response-based (i.e. fractional probit and fractional logit). In these regression analyses, we control for study-specific characteristics and clustering the standard errors on countries. Our results show that the CB impact coverage tends to increase with economic wealth, equality and population size in developed countries, while we find no such patterns for overall impact coverage.

Opis:
In recent decades, forced migration has become a globally salient issue for both developed and developing countries. As a developing country, Turkey is a significant destination for forced migration, with more than 3.6 million Syrian immigrants. This study concentrates on the socio-spatial impacts of forced migration in Turkish cities where Syrian immigrants have been concentrated and aims to answer the question: “Does forced migration produce an urban crisis in such cities?” The study leads to a prescription about new qualities of urban planning for coping with the urban crisis through a resilience strategy.

Opis:
In developing countries like Ethiopia, the agricultural sector commercialization is the primary objective for smallholder agricultural producers to eradicate food insecurity and depart from subsistence farming to profit maximization in a production system in which households produce market-oriented products based on consumer preferences. However, the participation of smallholder farmers in the agricultural sector commercialization remains low due to various factors. These include high population growth with limited landholding system (land tenure), lack of capital and access to credit (collateral), poorly linked market access, high trans[1]action costs, poor infrastructure, and weak institutions causing transaction costs to rise and considerably alter production and market-participation decisions in the commercialization of smallholder farming. The current government introduced market-oriented policies aimed at poverty reduction to overcome all these constraints in the last five years.

Although the impacts of COVID-19 have been extensively debated there is only limited writings and research on the geographical implications of the pandemic. The aim is to investigate the immediate or ‘first round’ impacts of COVID-19 on the South African tourism space economy with specific focus directed at its ramifications for small town and rural tourism. The study utilises a local tourism data base which tracks information concerning the tourism performance of all local municipal authorities in the country. The results reveal that during 2020 a noticeable change emerged in the spatial patterns of tourism. The trend for the concentration of tourism development upon the country’s leading cities was halted and seemingly put in reverse by the impacts of COVID-19. Evidence exists of a weakening of the previously dominant position of (in particular) the major metropolitan areas in South Africa’s tourism economy. Instead, there is recorded a relative upturn in the fortunes of tourism in small town and rural areas of South Africa as a whole.

Opis:
In this paper, a new method of vibrational energy transfer from high- frequency low-amplitude to low-frequency high-amplitude mechanical vibrations is proposed and investigated, for the purpose of percussive drilling. The mechanism uses an impact loading comprised of two frequencies forming a beat which excites a structure tuned to the beat-frequency. This concept has been modelled and experimentally verified. It is postulated that the efficiency of this technique is strongly dependent on the strength of nonlinearity in the system. The vibrational energy transfer is significantly reduced for superharmonic responses of the system. Practical applications of this mechanism can been seen as new generation percussive drilling tools.
W niniejszej pracy zaproponowano i pokazano wyniki nowego sposobu transferu energii z obszaru drgań o wysokich częstościach i małych amplitudach w obszar niskich częstości i dużych amplitud. Badania przeprowadzone były pod kątem zastosowań w wierceniu udarowym. Mechanizm działania wykorzystuje obciążenie uderzeniami modulowane kombinacją dwu częstości tworzących obwiednię w kształcie dudnienia o strukturze dostrojonej do częstości uderzeń.
