Opis:
Restaurants and other facilities providing catering services are an important part of hotels, can be their flagship product or make them unique. The obligation to provide restaurant services was imposed by the Ordinance of the Minister of Economy and Labour of 19th August 2004, concerning hotel and other facilities where hotel services are provided. Despite the dynamic development of gastronomy in the 21st century, running catering facilities in hotels is often an obligation which does not bring additional income. The aim of the research is to present the gastronomic product in Lodz hotels, understood as all the services related to gastronomy that are provided. The analysis was conducted with respect to the brand of the facilities, references to local cuisine and the availability of hotel gastronomy to potential guests. The work also presents factors that may facilitate access to hotel gastronomy, breaking the stereotype of ‘available only for hotel guests’, as well as the advantages of using the hotel's gastronomic product in a proper way.

Opis:
Many hotels are owned by a few dozen so-called hotel chains or hotel systems. The rapid growth of big hotel companies can be regarded as proof of the entrance of hotel systems into the globalisation phase. Since 2006, companies from the People’s Republic of China (PRC) have been among the world’s top hotel systems. This year can be considered as the symbolic beginning of a new stage in the history of the largest hotel systems. This paper shows two main trends. On the one hand, the processes that could be observed in the market of the major global hotel systems from the 1990s are still discernible (for example, the position of the so-called hotel megasystems). On the other hand, new trends have come to the fore in recent years, notably the emergence of systems from the People’s Republic of China among the world’s largest hotel systems.

Reports and studies of tourist flows and hospitality were conducted by the Tourism Department of Lviv City Council, and the Main Statistical Office in Lviv region. Opis:
The aim of this article is to investigate the determinants and conditions influencing the quality of hotel services. After defining the essence of quality, the author presents the main reasons and conditions for relatively high costs of these services incurred by hotel companies and the need to systematically improve the quality of hotel guest services. Regarding the research method, the article is based on results of a survey conducted in 2015 and 2017 on a randomly selected sample of guests of the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw. Survey results indicate that the hotel staff received the highest ratings for their kindness and competences. They also appreciated the high quality of rooms, conference rooms and their equipment. The author concludes that the quality of hotel services – including the Sheraton Hotel – is the main reason why many customers choose them. Consequently, the owner of the Sheraton hotel should continue to improve the hotel’s equipment, its conference facilities, restaurants and bars, should select, train and improve basic staff, and should continue to conduct systematic satisfaction surveys among current and future hotel guests.

During a single season, animators work with several thousand hotel guests. Parents and their children expect entertainment and attractions at a high level. Certainly, animation is a lot of fun. However, it is associated with numerous challenges. The aim of this study described in this article was to identify the most common benefits and challenges reported by animators in the survey conducted the by authors. The first part outlines the job of a leisure animator in the light of the literature. The main part is concerned with the benefits of working as an animator and challenges that animators can face in their work. The study is based on data collected during an online questionnaire survey involving 110 animators from Poland, working in various travel agencies. The findings confirm the main hypothesis of the study: opportunities to interact with people and travel are the most frequently reported advantages of leisure animation. Animation is also seen as a chance for self-fulfillment and continuous development. However, the job is associated with a lot of stress and long working hours, which constitute one of its challenges.

The article addresses the issue of educating the consumers of tourism services on environmental issues and the role of business in this area. The authors have assumed that a full participation of the purchasers of these services in the realisation of the sustainable development goals expressed in greening tourism consumption depends on the level of consumer’s knowledge. This level is mainly developed by the family, school and media but also by the tourism enterprises. The assumptions concerning the role of the tourism enterprises in educating the tourists on sustainable development have been built on the results of a questionnaire survey carried out in hotels located in the most attractive resorts of the Lower Silesia region.

Opis:
The cultural heritage of Silesia has different backgrounds and is often characterized by difficult to assess values. There is doubt as to whether some of the existing buildings should be modernized. Since 2000, an increase in the amount of investments in hotel buildings and conference venues in Poland has been observed. The functions and roles of hotels within a city have also changed. The paper presents examples of original projects and realizations of hotel buildings in Silesia. A discussion was also held regarding the issue of adapting and modernizing hotel buildings.
