    Do analizy i interpretacji pozycji badacza w terenie w artykule użyto pojęć „gość” i „gościnność”. Jednym z milcząco przyjmowanych założeń podejścia etnograficznego jest gościnność osób badanych wobec antropologa. Korzystając z antropologicznych i filozoficznych koncepcji gościnności, w tekście przedstawiono różne wymiary relacji gospodarz–gość (nierówność, zażyłość i zarządzanie reputacją), dążąc do problematyzacji relacji badacz–badany. Pokazano etyczne i poznawcze konsekwencje usytuowania badacza w pozycji gościa: zacieranie się granic między tym co osobiste a tym co profesjonalne, potencjalny konflikt lojalności oraz nadmierną kontrolę badanych nad badaczem. Rozpatrzona jest także sytuacja braku gościnności i braku dostępu do terenu, którą proponuje się uznać za normę, a nie anomalię w praktyce badawczej antropologa. Celem artykułu jest zaproponowanie bardziej pragmatycznej wizji badań etnograficznych i zwrócenie uwagi na strukturalne uwarunkowania relacji badacz–badany, niebędące wynikiem wyborów etycznych jednostek.
    The notions of “hospitality” and “a guest” are used in the article in order to analyze and interpret a researcher’s position during field-work. In an ethnographic approach the hospitality of study subjects towards anthropologists is often taken for granted. Relying on anthropological and philosophical conceptualizations of hospitality, different dimensions of host-guest relation (inequality, intimacy and reputation management) are demonstrated in order to reveal the problematic nature of the conceptualization of ethnographer-study subjects’ relation through the notion of hospitality. The ethical and epistemological consequences of a researcher acting as a guest are shown: the blurring of the boundary between what is personal and what is professional, the potential conflict of loyalties and the excessive control of research subjects over a researcher. The situation of the lack of hospitality – and lack of access to the field – is also presented and viewed as a rule and not an exception of ethnographic methodology. The aim of the article is to propose a more pragmatic vision of ethnographic studies and to draw attention to structural conditionings of ethnographer-research subjects’ relation that are situated beyond the ethical choices of individuals.

    At the turn of the 20th century a rapid development of the tourism colonization space in the Medina of Marrakesh began, which consisted mostly of the conversion of historical dwelling houses into private residential hotels or guest houses. The aim of the article is to present a thorough study of the progressive changes in the distribution of quantitative features of the guest houses in various parts of this old town. The cartographical method was utilised, using maps presenting the localization of the guest houses and the average accommodation capacity indicator for buildings in various quarters of the Medina. The distribution of particular features is compared for selected years (1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008). Furthermore, the article engages in polemics with the remarks of other authors dealing with the subject, concerning the distribution of the guest houses and conditions of changes in the aforementioned process.

    F. Thomas Bruss studied Mathematics in Saarbrücken (Germany), and, with a delegation grant from Saarbrücken, in Cambridge(UK) and in Sheffield(UK). He holds the Diplom-Mathematiker as well as his doctorate Dr. rer. nat. in Mathematics of the University of Saarbrücken. His scientific career began in 1977 at the University of Namur. In 1978 he received the docteur l´ egal Dr. en sc. and obtained tenure as First assistant a year later. His time in Namur also included visiting positions at the University of Zaire (1981) and at Strathclyde University Glasgow (1984). He then moved to the United States, first as Visiting Associate Professor at UC Santa Barbara, then as Adjunct Professor (Feodor-Lynen) fellow at the University of Arizona, and then as Visiting Associate Professor at UCLA. In 1990 Thomas returned to Europe as Professor of the Vesalius College of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Independently, he obtained the inscription sur liste des professeurs of France. In 1993 he was appointed chair of Mathématiques Générales and Probabilités of the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) where he has stayed ever since. Since then he also held visiting positions at the University of Antwerpen, the University of Namur and the Université Catholique de Louvain. Now, retired from the chair of Math´ ematiques G´ en´ erales, Thomas continues as Professeur de l’université of ULB, and as Invited Professor of the Université Catholique de Louvain. Prof. Bruss has made several important contributions to optimal stopping, including the 1/e-law of best choice (1984), Pascal processes (with LCG Rogers 1991), the odds algorithm (2000), or the solution of the last-arrival problem (with Marc Yor 2012). He also has strong interests in the theory of branching processes, as e.g. in bisexual Branching Processes and Resource-dependent Branching Processes (with Duerinckx 2015) as well as in various questions related with the theory of stochastic processes, as for instance the monotone subsequence problem (with Freddy Delbaen 2001, 2004). Thomas has served twice as head of the ULB Mathematics Department. He is also active in the national science foundations of Belgium, in the Belgian Statistical Society, the Belgian Mathematical Society, and the Collége Belgique. He is an elected member of the Tȕnissteiner Kreis (Germany), a fellow of the von-Humboldt Foundation (Germany) and a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (USA). Thomas is also renowned for his outreach activity, with articles published in journals such as Spektrum der Wissenschaft, Pour la Science, Le Soir and Die Welt, as well as for his appearances on radio and television for expertise in probability. He has received several national and international distinctions and awards. In 2011 F. Thomas Bruss was honoured Commandeur de l’ordre de Léopold of Belgium.

    W czasach, kiedy dalekie podróże stały się ogólnodostępne, a na rynku wciąż rośnie popyt na usługi uzupełniające, hotele wykształciły nowe stanowisko pracy, jakim jest guest relations. Celem pracy jest ukazanie specyfiki tego zawodu, jego roli w obsłudze ruchu turystycznego oraz wpływu na jakość usług świadczonych w hotelach. Słuszność wyboru zagadnienia potwierdza dotychczasowy brak publikacji oraz badań naukowych na ten temat. Zebrane informacje wskazują, iż istnieją dwa główne czynniki determinujące zapotrzebowanie na tego typu pracowników. Pierwszy z nich to działania hotelu mające na celu dotarcie do każdego gościa, przełamanie bariery językowej oraz dbanie o jego dobre samopoczucie. Drugim jest chęć podniesienia rangi obiektu i kreowanie jego elitarnego wizerunku. Działania te świadczą o zmianie kierunku rozwoju turystyki z masowej na indywidualną, a także o coraz większym znaczeniu turystyki luksusowej.

    Artykuł opisuje 25-letnią historię „Gościa Koszalińsko-Kołobrzeskiego”. Na przykładzie ćwierćwiecza działalności koszalińskiej redakcji tygodnika widać, jak szybko postępują zmiany w funkcjonowaniu mediów. Przez zaledwie 25 lat wygląd gazety i sposób działania oddziału zmieniły się radykalnie. W momencie pojawienia się strony internetowej można wręcz mówić o swego rodzaju medialnym przewrocie. W artykule podejmuje się także zagadnienie tożsamo¬ści oddziału lokalnego w odniesieniu do redakcji głównej, a także przedstawia się działalność koszalińskiego oddziału, która wykracza poza samo redagowanie czasopisma i strony internetowej.
    The article describes the 25-year history of the “The Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Guest”. On the example of its 25 years of activity, it is evident how quickly changes in the functioning of the media have been progressing. For only 25 years, the appearance of the newspaper and the way of journalistic work have changed radically. Since the appearance of the website, the change is even more visible. The article also deals with the issue of the identity of the local office of the weekly in relation to the main editorial office, and also presents its activities, which go far beyond the editing of the newspaper and the website.

    In undeveloped and developing countries, maternal mortality is an important problem in public health. High maternal deaths observed in some regions of Turkey are related to inequities in reaching health services (low transport facilities). To prevent maternal mortality, pregnant women should have access to health services for professional care before, during, and after childbirth. In Turkey, most maternal deaths are related to socio-economic factors, equity issues, health services and transportation facilities. Especially, transportation facilities to health centers play an important role in preventing maternal deaths. Thus, to prevent the negative effect of the winter season and adverse transportation facilities on maternal mortality, the Turkey Ministry of Health (MoH), aiming to reduce the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in rural areas, initiated the “Guest Motherhood Project (GMP)” to cover all of its urban and rural areas. In this project, health services for pregnant women in risky regions were restructured. In the scope of the project, access problems to health centers were eliminated and rapid access to rural areas and challenging territories of Turkey were provided. Current maternal mortality statistics show that GMP is yielding good results and high quality delivery services at all health centers in every region of the country despite the regional disparities.

    We describe an alternative approach to some results of Vassiliev ([Va1]) on spaces of polynomials, by applying the "scanning method" used by Segal ([Se2]) in his investigation of spaces of rational functions. We explain how these two approaches are related by the Smale-Hirsch Principle or the h-Principle of Gromov. We obtain several generalizations, which may be of interest in their own right.

    This special issue “Lenses on English Literature and Teaching English” of Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature (formerly Lubelskie Materiały Neofilologiczne) brings together selected papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Language, Literature and Culture, held on May 1-4, 2016 in Burdur, Turkey. The conference was sponsored by Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in cooperation with Çankaya University and Süleyman Demirel University. The conference included a variety of presentations by participants from different countries and featured keynote addresses by Jarosław Krajka (Poland) and Beture Memmodova (Turkey). The conference was devoted to language, literature, and culture, with the main aim to provide a forum for discussion and to facilitate integration in these fields and to bring together researchers, scholars, and students from all areas of language, literature, culture, and other related disciplines from all around the world.     The aim of this article is to analyse the presence of Commander in Mozart’s Don Giovanni as well as show the references to other opera depictions regarding the myth of Don Juan. Commander, also known as the Stone Guest, is an animate tombstone figure, which appears in every classic-based version of the story about Don Juan Tenorio (Don Giovanni) in order to summon a rogue to conversion; when he fails to do so, he drags him to hell. The spectacular character of the final scene turned out to serve as an inspiration for numerous opera makers, from Mozart to Rimsky-Korsakov (Mozart and Salieri). This theme, which has not been the subject of research before, is definitely worth exploring.

    Opis:
    Structurally flexible coordination networks that react to different external stimuli with structure deformation, and consequently changes in magnetic properties, are potential candidates for molecular switches and sensors. The design of guest-sensitive molecular magnetic materials based on the specific building blocks: [Ni(cyclam)]2+ (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) cation and polycyanometallate anions is discussed. The examples of different dimensionality networks and the changes in their structure and magnetic properties in response to sorption of small molecules are presented.

    Edukacyjne systemy informatyczne to skomplikowane zasoby IT składające się z dużej liczby kilkuletnich komputerów i każdy z nich musi być dostępny dla osób uczących się. To powoduje, że dla nauczycieli informatyki zarządzanie i utrzymywanie krytycznych technologii to jedno z największych wyzwań. Jednym z rozwiązań tego problemu jest technologia wirtualizacji, która umożliwia konsolidację infrastruktury do środowiska maszyn wirtualnych działających na jednym serwerze rzeczywistym. Zastosowanie wirtualizacji umożliwia zachowanie separacji wirtualnych terminali przy równoczesnym zminimalizowaniu kosztów związanych z utrzymaniem.
    Educational systems are complicated IT resources consisting of a large number of computers several years and each of them must be available for learners. This makes for teachers of computer management and maintenance of critical technologies is one of the biggest challenges. One solution to this problem is a virtualization technology that enables consolidation of infrastructure to the environment virtual machines running on a single server real. Application virtualization allows you to keep the separation of virtual terminals while minimizing the costs associated with maintenance.

    Studies of the temperature dependence of the guest order parameter for binary mixtures of the dichroic azo dye in the homologous series of the p-cyano-p'-alkylphenylcyclohexane were performed. Odd-even effect for the order parameter value was observed. A correlation between the shift in the nematic-isotropic transition temperature after dye addition and the orientation of the guest molecules in the nematic host was discussed.

    Methylene blue sensitized poly(methyl methacrylate) prepared by the process of dye diffusion has been shown to be efficient medium for recording interference gratings. Phase and/or amplitude holograms can be written in the methylene blue sensitized films of poly(methyl methacrylate) using a conventional source of light a He-Ne laser operating at 632.8 nm wavelength. Kinetics of photobleaching process of methylene blue is measured. Diffraction efficiencies of up to 30% were found for thick holograms. Phase conjugation and multiple holograms writing has been tested in the studied system.

Apart from discussing the aspect of environmental protection, it also focuses on the economic and social aspect. It is thus in line with sustainable development.

    The polarized absorption spectra of seven dichroic azo dyes dissolved in the nematogenic liquid crystal host 6CHBT have been recorded as a function of temperature. On the basis of these spectra, the guest order parameter has been determined. Moreover, the influence of the dye addition on the behaviour of the guest-host mixture in the vicinity of the nematic- isotropic phase transition has been examined. The experimental results have been compared in some details with the calculations done on the basis of the mean field theory for binary mixtures.

    The measurements of the polarized absorption and fluorescence components spectra for the guest-host mixtures have been used to study the long orientational order in the uniaxial phases of the liquid crystal. The temperature dependence of the order parameters, ⟨P$\text{}_{2}$⟩ and ⟨P$\text{}_{4}$⟩, has been investigated and the molecular distribution function has been determined. On the basis of the ⟨P$\text{}_{2}$⟩ and ⟨P$\text{}_{4}$⟩, values some conclusions about the molecular orientation in the smectic A and nematic phases of the liquid crystalline samples have been drawn. It has been also found that the fluorescence spectroscopy is a sensitive method for determination of the phase transition temperatures of the liquid crystal doped with the fluorescent dye.

    The article briefly presents the historical background of emigration to Germany and the impact of political discussion on the change in the perception of emigrants to this country. Next, the connections of this discourse with the construction of literary theories will be shownfollowed by a few definitions explaining the title of the paper, the main motifs of the discussed literature and issues related to its reception.
    In dem Artikel wird kurz der historische Hintergrund der Immigration nach Deutschland sowie der Einfluss der politischen Diskussion auf den Wechsel der Wahrnehmung der Migranten in diesem Land dargestellt. Anschließend werden die Auswirkungen dieses Diskurses auf die Herausbildung literaturwissenschaftlicher Theorien erörtert und literaturwissenschaftliche Begriffe zur Definition der Migrantenliteratur dargestellt. Des Weiteren werden die Hauptmotive der analysierten Literatur und Fragen ihrer Rezeption erklärt.
    W artykule przedstawiono tło historyczne imigracji do Niemiec oraz wpływ dyskusji politycznej na zmianę postrzegania imigrantów w tym kraju. Następnie ukazano związki tego dyskursu z konstruowaniem teorii literaturoznawczych, a także przedstawiono kolejne pojęcia literaturoznawcze służące definiowaniu literatury imigrantów i wyjaśniono główne motywy omawianej literatury oraz kwestie związane z jej recepcją.

    In Canada, Yukon First Nations are politically powerful and, when viewed by an outsider, everything appears to be progressing well. But the adoption of the Western political model has a downside. We have generally sacrificed our culture for that political power. The loss of our culture has resulted in many social problems and this essay discusses what has resulted from those problems, specifically our high death rate. Ironically, our death ritual, the Potlatch, is one of the strongest surviving cultural traditions we still exercise, while our languages, laws, art, lifestyle, and spirituality are almost all forgotten.

    Maintaining large amount of virtual machines requires a lot of dedication and time from administrator. Using tools provided by virtualization vendors help in daily maintenance. Additionally it is often required to predict future problems. To address this need there are solutions which include analytic mechanisms to lower the risk of possible issues. In open source world there are many competitive tools, but none of them is integrated with virtualization solution. Maintaining large infrastructure using many administrative consoles is difficult and creates a potential for human mistakes. Mentioned software miss one key functionality - it is not possible to deeply monitor guest operating system of the virtual machine while maintaining integration with virtualization software. Solution proposed in this paper was created to solve this issue with agent based diagnostic mechanisms to provide information about network connectivity, resource usage, applications state, system settings and health.
    Zarządzanie dużą ilością maszyn wirtualnych wymaga od administratora wiele czasu oraz poświęcenia. Wykorzystanie narzędzi dostarczonych wraz z oprogramowaniem wirtualizacyjnym ułatwia utrzymanie infrastruktury. Dodatkowo często wymagane jest przewidywanie problemów, które mogą wystąpić w środowisku wirtualnym. W tym celu powstało oprogramowanie zawierające mechanizmy analityczne zmniejszające ryzyko awarii. W świecie oprogramowania open source istnieje wiele narzędzi, lecz żadne z nich nie jest zintegrowane z platformą wirtualizacyjną, a w związku z tym zarządzanie infrastrukturą jest trudne. Przedstawionym rozwiązaniom brak jest jednej istotnej funkcjonalności - ´ możliwości dokładnego monitorowania systemów operacyjnych. Zaproponowane w publikacji oprogramowanie w oparciu o architekturę agentową stara się rozwiązać ten problem poprzez wykorzystanie mechanizmów dostarczających informacji o stanie sieci, zużyciu zasobów, stanie aplikacji, ustawieniach systemu oraz jego zdrowiu.

    Na podstawie analizy prac etnograficznych i leksykograficznych (dialektalnych) zareprezentowano semantyczne dziedziny występowania pojęcia GOŚĆ w słownikach i tekstach folkloru, uwzlędniono jego podstawę onowazjologiczną przez związki słowotwórcze i frazeologiczne (wraz z przysłowiami i porzekadłami) w językach rosyjskim, polskim, ukraińskim, białoruskim. Uniwersalnymi środkami konceptualizacji wymienionych jednostek w akcie nominacji są kategoria przestrzeni (DOM, jego części, sakralne i profaniczne miejsca i inne obrazy kosmogoniczne itp.) oraz pojęcia społeczno-kulturowe o pochodzeniu indoeuropejskim (WYMIANA, DAR), SWOI-OBCE.
    The article deals with possible ways of cultural and semantic reconstruction of the mythological, religious, naïve, etiquette and ritual profiles of the conceptual domain of hospitality and treating in the Slav and partly Germanic cultural and language continua. The possibilities of the conceptual and semiotic modeling of the lexeme guest and the derivatives through their phraseological connections and semantic filling within the relevant subframes, ritual scenarios in their nucleus and partly periphery zones of the phraseological-semantic field are being considered.

    The author attempts to evaluate the take up of registered accommodation outlets in Lôdz between 1979 and 2000, on the basis of an analysis of changes in the number of guests, the number of accommodation outlets used, the average length of time spent in them, the average length of stay, and seasonality, sex, age, educational and professional background of the guests, their motives for coming to Lôdz, as well as the areas they arrived from.
    W artykule podjęto próbę oceny efektywności wykorzystania rejestrowanych obiektów noclegowych w Łodzi w okresie 1979-2000 na podstawie analizy zmian: liczby osób korzystających z noclegów, liczby udzielonych noclegów, przeciętnego czasu pobytu w obiektach noclegowych, średniego poziomu ich wykorzystania i sezonowości, struktury płci i wieku, wykształcenia, zawodu i motywów przyjazdu do Łodzi osób korzystających z noclegów oraz obszarów rynkowych, z których goście pochodzili.

    Couchsurfing (CS) is now regarded as an alternative platform that reflects changes in tourist accommodation preferences. The CS platform, based on the sharing economy, offers an opportunity to give various tourist experiences to travelers, as well as accommodation. This study aims to provide information about the travel motivations, prejudices, risk perceptions and experiences of CS guests. It has original value for the relevant literature, as it delves deeply into CS guests using a phenomenological approach. The present results show that the desire to sightsee new places, meet new people and recognize different cultures has motivated the participants. The study found that although most of the participants did not have prejudices or risk perceptions, CS first timers did. It has also been observed that participants are highly satisfied with their CS experiences and intend to take part in CS activities again.
    Couchsurfing (CS) jest obecnie uważany za alternatywną platformę, która odzwierciedla zmiany w preferencjach dotyczących zakwaterowania turystycznego. Serwis CS, oparty na ekonomii współdzielenia, daje możliwość zaoferowania podróżnym różnorodnych doświadczeń turystycznych oraz zakwaterowania. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie informacji na temat związanych z podróżowaniem motywacji, uprzedzeń, doświadczeń osób korzystających z couchsurfingu oraz postrzegania przez nie ryzyka. Artykuł stanowi oryginalną wartość w literaturze przedmiotu, jako że jest w nim zgłębiane zagadnienie użytkowników wspomnianego portalu w aspekcie fenomenologicznym. Wyniki najnowszych badań świadczą o tym, że pragnienie zwiedzania miejsc, w których się wcześniej nie było, poznawania nowych ludzi i różnych kultur motywuje uczestników. Analizy pokazują, że większość uczestników couchsurfingu nie miała uprzedzeń ani wrażenia istnienia ryzyka, jednak osobom, które wybrały tę formę zakwaterowania po raz pierwszy, towarzyszyły takie odczucia. Zaobserwowano również, że uczestnicy są bardzo zadowoleni ze swoich doświadczeń związanych z couchsurfingiem i zamierzają ponownie skorzystać z tego rozwiązania.

    In this article, the author discusses Monika Sznajderman’s reportage Pusty las [The Empty Forest] in the context of Geertz’s blurred genres. The author mainly addresses the condition of a person (a researcher, an anthropologist) who does not explore the Other but is the Other. In Sznajderman’s book, hospitality is a basic category; the researcher studying a difficult heritage — here, the Lemko region — is a guest who must choose either to look at or to ignore the history of his or her hosts. He or she can feel at home or erase all trace of the hosts’ presence. Perhaps in the end, as Maria Stepanova writes, the researcher can “breathe the air of post-memory.” The author treats Sznajderman’s book as an example of anthropological reportage and postulates the emergence of a new genre, on the border between the social sciences and literature.

Impulses against poststructuralist skepticism? Algorithms and pattern analyses of the main literary genres? Paradigms of artistic value? Narratology: actants, world pictures, points of view, singularity, fractals, variants, stages, etc., and neo-rhetoric against the postmodernist “chaotisation” of culture. But also the aesthetic object clad in silence, the aesthetics of address and the increasing importance of the Third, the discourse of responsibility, the long term, great time, great dialogue, genre memory and other Bakhtinian traces.Moreover, as usual, disputes over the nature of discourses: is philosophy the Other of literature or does the Other transform into non-Other; philosophy as a protective zone for dialectics, literature as a kingdom of ambiguity; the secret of literature as cannon fodder for readers. Philology of philosophy and the textual hunger of a philological philosopher; philology as a text about a text, philosophy as a text on thinking as a non-text. Do not texts think, however? The hypothesis of a trickster and his original image, also doctor Zhivago, Myshkin, Raskolnikov, Strelnikov, Bezukhov, Bolkonsky in various configurations. Hegel and Kant in the deep structures of Russian thought, Bakhtin and Lotman on the surface; the philosopher as an eater of spices, the artist as a torero. Intimations of poststructuralism and symptoms of academic anti-foundationalism: deconstruction, cultural and intertextual studies, feminist and gender criticism, new historicism, postcolonialism. Postcolonial methodology and the post-Soviet subaltern; the postcolonial without the colonial; people of the trans-diaspora and internal Others; and the imperative: the decolonisation of postcolonialism -de-Sovietization of the post-Soviet.     This text contains an analysis of the ways in which men and women engage in selected hospitality practices, including such questions as the feminine transmission of hospitality patterns, the division of responsibilities in preparing for guests, and places for meeting socially (at home and outside the home). On the basis of material gathered by the team of the Archive of Research on Everyday Life, the author finds numerous paradoxes and inconsistencies between women’s beliefs and their behaviors. In attempting a theoretical explanation, reference is made to the ideas of Pierre Bourdieu, Jean-Claude Kaufmann, Harriet Bjerrum Nielsen, and Monica Rudberg. Analysis leads to the conclusion that the multiple and time-consuming responsibilities associated with receiving guests mostly fall to women and thus contribute to their ability to sustain symbolic power over the home space. Consequently, hospitality perpetuates the traditional division into what is public and considered “masculine” and what is private or “feminine.”

We present therein partial results of comprehensive research, which focused on attitudinal and behavioral attributes sexuality of people with intellectual disabilities and their socio-cultural and ethical contexts specific forms of sex education, the presence of a supervisor and directives for special schools as well as assessing its importance in the context of other components education through selected items us compiled questionnaire sexuality and sexual education of students with intellectual disabilities.

    W artykule przedstawiono i poddano analizie publikowane w polskiej prasie sprawozdania i relacje z występów gościnnych Heleny Modrzejewskiej w teatrze polskim w latach 1867–1903. Znaczną część materiałów badawczych stanowią prasowe reakcje na występy aktorki po 1879, już jako gwiazdy teatru amerykańskiego. Autorka charakteryzuje zakres tematyczny artykułów i recenzji, analizuje ich leksykę, uwydatnia dominujące oceny, a także różnice między zainteresowaniami recenzentów i czytelników z różnych miast. Uwzględnia również materiały informacyjne, współtworzące publiczny wizerunek Modrzejewskiej jako gwiazdy, oraz wybrane materiały reklamowe, w których wykorzystywano ten wizerunek. Komentuje ponadto artykuły w polskiej prasie relacjonujące zagraniczne sukcesy aktorki, wierszowane utwory przekazujące wrażenia z występów oraz ilustracje, którymi uzupełniano teksty. Podkreśla, że chociaż ta bardzo obfita recepcja stanowi jeden z ważnych elementów tworzących legendę Modrzejewskiej jako najwybitniejszej polskiej aktorki i doskonałej odtwórczyni ról szekspirowskich, to wiele tekstów można uznać za cenne źródło poznania ulotnej sztuki aktorskiej. Artykuł jest bogato ilustrowany i zawiera aneks z kompletnym spisem recenzji i artykułów poświęconych występom gościnnym Modrzejewskiej.
    This article presents and analyzes the reports and accounts published in the Polish press on Helena Modrzejewska's (Modjeska) guest performances in the Polish theater in the years 1867–1903. A significant part of the research materials are press reactions to the actress's appearances after 1879, already as a star of the American theater. The author characterizes the thematic range of the articles and reviews, analyzes their lexis, highlights the dominant assessments, as well as the differences between the focus of reviewers and readers from various cities. She also considers the news and brief sensational informations that contributed to the public image of Modjeska as a star, as well as selected publicity items that exploited this image. In addition, she comments on articles in the Polish press reporting on the actress's foreign successes, rhyming pieces conveying impressions of her performances, and the illustrations with which the texts were accompanied. She points out that although this extensive reception is crucial in creating Modjeska's legend and reputation as the most excellent Polish actress and Shakespearean performer, many of the analyzed texts provide valuable insights into the transient art of acting. The article is richly illustrated and supplemented with an appendix containing a comprehensive list of reviews and articles focused on Modrzejewska's guest appearances.

    W fundamentalnej dla przyszłości Europy dyskusji na temat zjawiska masowej migracji ludności z Bliskiego Wschodu i Afryki północnej ważkim argumentem stały się fragmenty z Biblii. Już sam fakt, że środowiska najczęściej lewicowe i niechętnie lub wręcz wrogo odnoszące się do religii posługują się argumentami religijnymi każe spojrzeć na sprawę ze szczególną uwagą i wyjątkowo poważnie rozważać prezentowane argumenty. Fragmenty odnoszące się do przyjmowania obcych/przybyszów pochodzą w dużej części z ksiąg Starego Testamentu. Warto więc przeanalizować je w kontekście całości nauczania Biblii hebrajskiej na problem norm dotyczących obcych i przybyszów. Autor przytacza 12 fragmentów bezpośrednio odnoszonych do problemu przyjmowania lub nieprzyjmowania uchodźców (Wj 22,20; 23,9.12; Kpł 19,33–34; Pwt 1,16; 10,18–19; 24,14; Ml 3,5; Iz 1,17; Za 7,10; Jr 7,6–7; Hi 31,32, Ps 146,6 oraz przykłady gościnności wobec obcych takie jak wizyta aniołów u Abrahama i Lota, gościna Lewity u starca w Gibea). Teksty te pochodzą z różnych okresów historii Izraela i z różnych tradycji teologicznych, mogłyby być więc traktowane jako reprezentatywne dla nauczania Biblii hebrajskiej w tym temacie. Nie jest to jednak obraz kompletny, a jedynie nakazy i normy odnoszące się do obcego określanego terminem ger i konsekwentnie tłumaczonego przez „obcy” bardzo często w liczbie mnogiej. Analiza znaczenia tego pojęcia, zasadności używania w tłumaczeniach liczby mnogiej (kiedy w oryginale jest pojedyncza) oraz uzupełnienie powyższego zestawienia o inne terminy używane w BH na określenie obcych czy przybyszów prowadzi do zaskakujących wniosków.
    Fragments of the Bible have recently became an important argument in the discussion about the attitude that should be adopted by Europeans referring their the Judeo-Christian roots with reference to refugees/immigrants from Africa and the Middle East. Considering that the quoted texts are mainly from the Old Testament, it is worth looking more closely at what the Hebrew Bible actually says about the postulated attitude of the Israelites, and especially their rulers to the strangers and newcomers. Author analyses within a broader biblical context 12 fragments of the Hebrew Bible (Exod 22:20; 23:9.12, Lev 19:33–34, Deut 1:16, 10:18–19; 24:14, Mal 3:5; Isa 1:17; Zech 7:10, Jer 7:6–7; Job 31:32, Psa 146:6) and some examples of hospitality described on Bible’s cards (visit of angels at Abraham and Lot, and Levite's visit at an old man in Gibeah). Author excerpts texts covering status and duties of guests in Israel, duties of Israelites and their rulers in the face of a danger from foreign peoples and examples of dealing with strangers other than wanderers, proselytes or guests (understood as individuals). In the texts of the Hebrew Bible, there is a clear distinction between single travellers, strangers who seek a better life, respecting Israeli law or customs and submit to them, and those who either threaten Israel or dissuade Israelites from purity of faith.

    Bronisława Dowiakowska (1840–1910) była jedną z cenionych śpiewaczek opery warszawskiej. W ciągu ponad trzydziestu lat wykonywała olbrzymi repertuar, śpiewała ponad sto partii. Występowała też w operetkach. Posiadała doskonałą technikę wokalną i pamięć muzyczną oraz talent aktorski. Uznawano ją za jedną z najwybitniejszych polskich śpiewaczek operowych i operetkowych. W latach 70. i 80. XIX stulecia występowała gościnnie we Lwowie i w Krakowie, stając się podporą tych scen. Jej wizyty odbijały się szerokim echem w prasie lokalnej. Nazwisko primadonny warszawskiej wpisało się trwale w rozwój galicyjskiej kultury muzycznej, a w szczególności sceny operowej Galicji XIX stulecia.
    Bronisława Dowiakowska (1840–1910) was one of the highly regarded singers of the Warsaw opera. Over a period of more than thirty years she performed a comprehensive repertoire, singing more than a hundred parts. She also performed in operettas. She possessed an excellent vocal technique and musical memory, as well as a talent for acting. She was regarded as one of the most outstanding Polish opera and operetta singers. In the 1870s and 1880s, she made guest appearances in Lviv and Kraków, becoming a mainstay of these theatres. Her visits resonated loudly in the local press. The name of the Warsaw prima donna became indelibly inscribed in the development of Galician musical culture, and in particular the opera stage of 19th-century Galicia.

    Opis:
    Hydrophilic and hydrophobic cyclodextrins (CDs) have found a lot of applications in medicine pharmacology, food processing and cosmetology. They can function as a drug carrier material and parent host molecules, increasing drug biocompatibility, optimizing the efficiency of drug activity, and controlling drug release at the desired level. The effectiveness of CD complexation depends on many factors such as the type and the size of both the CD molecule itself and the guest molecule, pH of the solution, and temperature. In aqueous solution of glucose the aggregation of molecules can occur leading to the formation of CD-like structures. In the paper the possibility of the formation of the inclusion complexes of CD and glucose with Nimodipine was investigated with the aid of ultrasonic spectroscopy. By comparing the efficiency of industrial saccharides and glucose in the formation of the inclusion complexes the cost effectiveness of the use of glucose as a substitute for CD can be determined.

    A cinematographic journey to “the country of the last cannibals” in the light of post-colonial studies. The article is an attempt to analyse “Cannibal Tours”, a document by D. O’Rourke, an Australian director, filmed from a postcolonial perspective. Papua New Guinea, an island relatively isolated from the rest of the world, has interested researchers since the beginning of cultural anthropology. At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, when charter flights were first operated, a group of people looking for exoticism joined wealthy tourist from Western Europe and the United States, united by the myth of one of the last places on earth inhabited by cannibals. The director very interestingly captured the relations between the guests and the hosts, the impact of tourism on the local culture and the role of researchers in imaging the savage. While the document presents the reality of the 1990s, is continues to encourage reflection on who we are when we travel.

    This is the first academic study of this type pertaining to the history of tourist traffic in the area of the Bochnia Salt Mine. In contrast to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, no general academic or popular science studies have been prepared with respect to this issue to date. Prior works devoted to the Bochnia Salt Mine did not deal with this issue. The objective of this article is an attempt at describing, throughout the history of the Bochnia Salt Mine, the gradual process of emergence and development of tourist traffic. The author of the work makes use of the existing manuscripts and printed sources, along with academic studies devoted directly or indirectly to the subject matter pertaining to the content of the article. Interviews conducted with the present and retired employees of the Bochnia Salt Mine also turned out to be helpful, both directors and traffic supervision employees, as well as persons directly involved in the tourist traffic servicing. Thanks to this, the gaps existing in the source materials and academic or popular science studies pertaining to the subject matter of the study were supplemented or filled. The history of tourist traffic described in the article was closely related to the history of the Bochnia Salt Mine. The reader is going to find out that this process was not easy, whereas its history is replete with obstacles and threats during various stages of development, including a complete disappearance of tourist activity, which was finally reinstated and which has been pursued to date. Therefore, the issue deserves a detailed study. In medieval sources, it is possible to find traces of princes’ and kings’ (and their officials’) stays in the mine. Such visits were purely official. Their objective was direct or indirect control over all aspects of operation of the subordinate enterprise. Visits of representatives of commerce and handicraft in the Bochnia Salt Mine, whose enterprises were closely and durably related to the current operation of the mine, had a more “economic” character The situation was similar with holders of permits and privileges from the group of contemporary wealthy people, both clerics and secular. The ongoing necessity of taking care of their economic interest was the most important for this group. Sources between the 16th and the 18th century offer new data. New categories of guests supplemented the above list of visitors in the Bochnia Salt Mine. The first one includes various travellers who, in their accounts or descriptions, offer the first experiences accompanying visits in the underground section of the mine. Another category are poets. Their works, preserved in the modern times, have a similar character, yet by their nature they are more filled with emotions. Therefore, all these authors were, in a certain way, “pioneers” – the first tourists in the modern sense of the word. The third category includes representatives of science, testifying to the growing interest in the Bochnia Salt Mine from a scientific perspective. They also form a part of the previously described group of travellers, who were testing their talents in the new area. These were predominantly people connected to the Bochnia Salt Mine who implemented their ideas, plans and intentions for its benefit. There was also yet another special category – the so-called “unwanted guests.” This group includes both “locals” and “foreigners”, whose activities had an adverse impact on the situation of the Bochnia Salt Mine. At the end of the 18th century, a certain fundamental change occurred in the above-described group of “guests” at the Bochnia Salt Mine. The owner of the mine changed – the Polish king was replaced by the Austrian emperor and royal officials were substituted by the imperial bureaucratic apparatus. Simultaneous abolishment of former permits and privileges resulted in absence of visits of clerics and lay people. What is more, the former system of connections of the mine with trade and municipal handicraft also ceased to exist. Representatives of such professions disappeared almost completely from the area of the Bochnia Salt Mine. The 19th century, especially its second half, brought development of initially disorganised tourist traffic in the form of individual and collective groups. Visits in the mine, hitherto a privilege reserved for the chosen few, suddenly became a very fashionable pastime for a broader group of people. This situation was intensified by development of communication and dissemination of press information, as well as popularity of local sightseeing associations. Such groups included local people, as well as guests from other countries, officials, teachers, clerics, military men, young people and children. The number of descriptions and travellers’ accounts, resulting from visits in the underground pits of the Bochnia Salt Mine, also soared. The Bochnia Salt Mine has become a more attractive place for the conduct of scientific studies by outstanding researchers and specialists from various areas of knowledge. The Bochnia Salt Mine was also a venue for didactic activities for the future practitioners of science, who pursued classes, internships and professional practice here. However, the described century and the beginning of the 20th century were not free from negative activities and decisions of the group known from earlier centuries as the “unwanted guests.” The inter-war period was a time of constant struggle with the governmental plans of liquidation of the Bochnia Salt Mine. In spite of the difficult situation, the unorganised tourist traffic of numerous groups and individuals (from the country and abroad) continued to flourish in the mine. The mine was also visited by scientists and young graduates who were acquiring the necessary knowledge and professional skills. What is more, middle school pupils and college students followed the example of their senior friends and attended special classes in the mine and visited it as part of activities of school sightseeing groups. It is also worth remembering that the outbreak of WWII halted the plans of establishing a sanatorium at the Bochnia Salt Mine. The period of Nazi occupation brought an end to popular visits in the Bochnia Salt Mine. At this time, the mine was only open for German people – ordinary citizens and military men. However, traces of stay of Polish people in the mine from this period have also been preserved – obviously, such visits were only possible upon the approval of the occupation authorities. Throughout the communist period, the idea of making the Bochnia Salt Mine available for tourists was not popular and it resurfaced only in the form of sporadic initiatives. In the 1950s, a visit in the mine formed a part of subsequent historical anniversaries celebrated in the city and the local saltworks. Similar initiatives, even though planned, were not implemented in the 1960s - they were going to form a part of the celebrations of the 1,000th anniversary of the Polish state. Nevertheless, plans pertaining to the visits in the Bochnia Salt Mine in the 1970s were successful – they were included in the extensive programme of the “Days of Bochnia” inaugurated at that time. The last activity in the described period took place in the 1980s, when sightseeing in the mine was included in the celebrations of another historical anniversary of the city. The 1980s were also a time of clear increased interest in the Bochnia Salt Mine as a historical facility. Inclusion of the most valuable pits and surface development of the mine in the list of national monuments definitely contributed to it. Simultaneously, next to the gradual process of limiting the industrial operation of the mine, former plans of establishing a sanatorium were brought back. This very difficult process of building a tourist and spa centre commenced at that time was halted by the political transformations of 1989. After 1990, it was continued for a long time until the middle of the 1990s. The author of the work adopted the year 1995 as the end for the study; it constitutes the opening of a completely new chapter in the history of the Bochnia Salt Mine. The unorganised tourist traffic was provided with durable legal and organisational framework in the form of a newly-established entity: Uzdrowisko Kopalnia Soli Bochnia Sp. z o.o. Between 1995 and 2014, the company has been servicing numerous groups of tourists and patients who come to the Bochnia Salt Mine every year. Traditional sightseeing in the historical mining pits has been gradually supplemented by educational, health and entertainment activities. In 2014, “Kopalnia Soli Bochnia Sp. z o.o.” took over the organisation and servicing of the tourist traffic, continuing the long-term tradition of the Bochnia Salt Mine in this respect.

    CEL NAUKOWY: Celem artykułu jest opis sposobów pojmowania obcości i praktykowania gościnności, które mogą być odpowiedzią na wyzwania wynikające z mobilności i różnorodności społeczno-kulturowej współczesnych społeczeństw. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: Postawiono problem badawczy: z czego wynika sposób traktowania obcych i jakie formy gościnności należy rozwijać, by odpowiedzieć na problemy związane z wielokulturowością. W badaniu zastosowano metodę analityczno-syntetyczną przeglądu literatury przedmiotu z zakresu socjologii. PROCES WYWODU: Artykuł koncentruje się na obcości jako opozycji swojskości. Omówiono różne typy obcości (wewnętrzna, zewnętrzna, względna, radykalna) oraz role, w jakich pojawia się obcy (gość, wróg, uchodźca). Następnie przedstawiono sposoby praktykowania gościnności w wybranych epokach i kulturach, wyjaśniając społeczne znaczenie reguł i praw gościnności. Za- prezentowano najnowsze dyskusje dotyczące związków gościnności z prawem i władzą oraz potrzebą kształtowania postaw otwartości i troski. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Rosnąca wielokulturowość społeczeństw i intensywność procesów migracyjnych zmuszają do refleksji nad sposobami traktowania obcych: jako gości, ryzyka czy nieuchronności. Pilne jest znalezienie rozwiązań uwzględniających prawa gospodarzy do ochrony własnego terytorium oraz ochronę praw imigrantów. Kluczowe jest kształtowane w toku socjalizacji nastawienie wobec obcych. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Otwarta postawa wobec obcości i rozumienie zetknięcia z nią jako szansy pomaga jednostkom odkrywać własną tożsamość i budować relacje społeczne oparte na zasadach kultury gościnności.
    RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: This article aims to reflect on ways of understanding strangeness and practicing hospitality that can respond to mobility challenges and socio-cultural diversity in con- temporary societies. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: A research problem was posed: what is the origin of the treatment of strangers, and what forms of hospitality should be developed to respond to the problems arising from multiculturalism? The research is based on the analytical-synthetic method to review the literature on sociology. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The article focuses on strangeness as opposition to familiarity. It discusses the different types of strangeness (internal, external, relative, radical) and the roles in which the stranger appears (guest, enemy, refugee). Then, the ways of practicing hospitality in selected epochs and cultures were presented, explaining the social significance of the rules and laws of hospitality. Recent discussions on the relationship between hospitality and law, authority, and the need for shaping attitudes of openness and care were presented. RESEARCH RESULTS: The increasing multiculturalism of modern societies and the intensity of migration processes force us to reflect on how strangers are treated: as guests, risks or inevitabilities. It is urgent to find solutions that consider both the rights of hosts to protect their territory and the protection of migrants’ rights. Attitudes towards strangers, which are shaped during socialization, are crucial. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: An open attitude towards strangeness and understanding the encounter with it as an opportunity helps individuals discover their own identity and build social relationships based on the principles of a culture of hospitality.

Zestawienie wiedzy zawartej w Dziełach Bronisława Malinowskiego ze szczegółowymi informacjami z dzienników, notatek terenowych i listów pozwoliło na opisanie zarówno wzoru idealnego, jak i zbliżenie się do wzoru rzeczywistego relacji, jaka wykształciła się między antropologiem a tubylcami. Pytanie tylko, w jaki sposób konfrontacja kilku systemów praktyk i wyobrażeń wpłynęła na proces badawczy i kształt antropologicznej wiedzy? Wychodząc od analizy tendencji współczesnej antropologii do dyskursywizacji problematyki spotkania, autor stara się prześledzić różne aspekty antropologicznego kontaktu kulturowego Bronisława Malinowskiego z Massimami, co ma pomóc we wskazaniu najważniejszych kulturowych i historycznych uwarunkowań kształtu relacji pomiędzy antropologiem a „jego ludem”.
    The article fits into thinking about the fieldwork’s reality in its interactive nature, structured by, among others, the form of the cultural contact. Bringing together the knowledge collected in Bronisław Malinowski’s Dzieła and detailed information gathered in diaries, fieldwork notes and letters, allows to perform a reconstruction of an ideal pattern, approximate to real pattern, of the relation which was born between the anthropologist and the natives. The question is, how did the confrontation of multiple systems of praxis and beliefs affect the research and nature of anthropological knowledge? Beginning with the analysis of the meeting subject discourse present in modern anthropology, the author tires to investigate various aspects of Bronislaw Malinowski fieldwork. He attempts to construct an analysis which would pinpoint cultural and historical conditionings of the nature of relation between the anthropologist and “his people”.

    Edukacja techniczna uczniów szkół podstawowych ma przede wszystkim za zadanie budowanie czynnego i krytycznego stosunku dziecka wobec techniki i postępu technicznego oraz zapoznanie z polskimi i zagranicznymi wybranymi osiągnięciami tego obszaru. Pomocne w tym zakresie może być czasopismo „Mały Gość Niedzielny”, które ma na celu przekazywanie wiedzy w zróżnicowanej formie i w przystępny sposób, z wykorzystaniem ciekawej szaty graficznej. W tekstach zamieszczonych na łamach czasopisma wyodrębnić można obszary tematyczne wiedzy technicznej. Należą tu m.in: terminologia ogólna z zakresu techniki, nazwy urządzeń technicznych i ich elementów, nazwy wytworów techniki, nazwy dziedzin, postacie wynalazców i odkrywców, nazwy wydarzeń związanych z historią techniki. Oprócz słowa pisanego nauczyciel powinien przybliżać uczniom autentyczne obiekty z obszaru techniki eksponowane w instytucjach kultury. Najczęściej chodzi o muzea, które w atrakcyjny edukacyjnie sposób pokazują dawne i nowoczesne oblicza techniki. W artykule dokonana zostanie prezentacja wybranych instytucji kultury znajdujących się na Szlaku Zabytków Techniki Województwa Śląskiego.
    Technical education of primary school students is primarily aimed at building a child’s activeand critical attitude towards technology and technical progress as well as familiarizing himself with selected Polish and foreign achievements in this area. The magazine „Little Sunday Guest” may behelpful in this respect, as it aims to convey knowledge in a diverse and accessible way, using interesting graphics. Thematic articles of technical knowledge can be distinguished in the texts published in the journal. These include, among others: general terminology in the field of technology, names oftechnical devices and their elements, names of the manufacturer of the technique, names of fields,figures of inventors and explorers, names of events related to the history of technology.In addition to the written word, the teacher should familiarize students with authentic objects from the field of technology, exhibited in cultural institutions. Most often, these are museums thatshow the ancient and modern face of technology in an attractive educational way. The article will present selected cultural institutions located on the Industrial Monuments Trail of the Śląskie Voivodeship.

    The phenomenon of optical activity was discovered by Louis Pasteur in 1848. Since this time, chirality of organic compounds observed in biological systems has became a central theme in scientific research. Synthesis and quantitation of enantiomerically pure compounds is important for a wide range of applications. Chirally pure compounds are required not only by pharmacology, but they are also of interest in cosmetic and food industry and many other applications. Similarity of enantiomers in their chemical and physical properties, except for optical rotation, makes their separation and detection very difficult. Until now, many methods have been used for the enantioselective discrimination of organic compounds, including nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), circular dichroism (CD), capillary electrophoresis (CE) and chromatography (GC, HPLC), where an interference of a solvent cannot be excluded. Recent studies have shown that mass spectrometry (MS) is an alternative approach to traditional method for chiral recognition and determination of enantiomeric composition. Although, mass spectrometry has been considered as insensitive to chirality because enantiomers have the same mass and show identical mass spectra, it is now accepted as important tool for differentiating of enantiomeric compounds through their interactions with chiral reference molecules (Fig. 1). The ability to transfer diastereomeric non-covalent complexes between chiral selectors and analyte enantiomers, which differ in stability, into the gas-phase and measure such differences trough mass spectrometric ion abundances, has appeared with development of soft ionization techniques such electrospray ionization (ESI), fast atom bombardment (FAB) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI). Mass spectrometry-based methods for chiral recognition and quantitative determination of enantiomeric purity are attractive due to their speed, high sensitivity, low sample consumption, tolerance to impurities and ability to probe the analyte in a solvent free environment. Currently, there are four well-defined approaches for determining a measure of enantiomer discrimination, using either single-stage or tandem mass spectrometry. They can be classified into the following categories: (1) measurement of the relative abundance of diastereomeric complexes between chiral reference compound and the enantiomers (usually one isotopically labeled [10]), (2) enantioselective ion/molecule reaction between diastereomeric complexes and chiral or achiral reactants [11], (3) kinetic method [12] and (4) collision-induced dissociation (CID) of diastereomeric adducts in a tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) experiment [61, 62]. Over the past decade, new approaches to chiral separation and analysis of enantiomers have been introduced, where molecules are separated based on their mobility (ion mobility spectrometry) [66].

    Problematyka poruszona w artykule dotyczy niezwykle ważnego zjawiska jakim w dobie pluralizacji kulturowej, migracji, mobilności współczesnych społeczeństw stało się komunikowanie prawa wobec zamieszkujących lub czasowo przebywających na danym terytorium gości (turystów). W związku z przebywaniem na terytorium zróżnicowanych kulturowo nieobywateli pojawia się wiele wyzwań dla krajowych porządków prawnych. Przedmiotem niniejszej publikacji jest właśnie problematyka gości, którzy w konfrontacji z obcym im porządkiem prawnym państw gospodarzy pozostają często pozostawieni sami sobie. W artykule poruszono niezwykle ważny problem, za jaki należy uznać łamanie prawa przez nieobywateli oraz problem radzenia sobie przez nieobywateli z krajowym porządkiem prawnym. Równie istotna pozostaje kwestia reakcji kraju przyjmującego na sytuacje, gdy na jego terytorium zamieszkują lub czasowo przebywają osoby zróżnicowane kulturowo i środowiskowo, cechujące się nieznajomością krajowego porządku prawnego. To także stojący przed rządami kraju przyjmującego problem orientacji w prawie nieobywateli przebywających na terytorium obcego państwa o innym porządku prawnym. W tle rozważań pojawia się problem związany z udzieleniem informacji przez rządy państwa przyjmującego przebywającym na jego terytorium gościom czy problem z możliwością szukania informacji o obcym porządku prawnym przez przebywających na obcym terytorium gości. Głównym wątkiem poruszonym w artykule pozostaje problematyka wypracowania strategii komunikowania prawa w stosunku do nieobywateli przebywających na terytorium państwa przyjmującego.
    The article tackles the issue of communicating the law towards permanent or temporary guests (tourists) residing in a given territory, i.e. a phenomenon of paramount importance in the context of cultural pluralisation, migration, and the mobility of the modern societies. With relation to the residence in a given territory of some non-citizens of diverse cultural background there are many challenges the state legal order and its authorities have to face. The issue of the guests, who when confronted with unfamiliar legal order of the hosting state often remain left alone, provides a ground for these reflections. The article tackles the issue of breaking the law by the non-citizens and the consequent problem of dealing with the state legal order by the non-citizens. It is followed by an equally important question, i.e. the reaction of the hosting state to a situation when the persons of diverse cultural and social background frequently lack knowledge of the state legal order. It also entails the problem of orientation in law of the non-citizens, residing in a country of a different legal order, and the governmental reaction to such stance. In the context of these reflections the author captures the question related to providing information by the state authorities to the guests residing in such country, or the issue linked to the possibility of seeking information on the other legal order by the foreigners. Last but not least, the article also concerns the aspect of working out the strategy of communicating the law towards the non-citizens residing in a given hosting country.

    Problem obcokrajowców w Niemczech, a przede wszystkim zmniejszania się liczby Niemców w Niemczech, jest problemem, który nie zostanie w najbliższym czasie rozwiązany. Jego korzenie sięgają lat 60. XX w., gdy do RFN zaproszono gastarbeiterów, dzięki którym Niemcy przeżyły prawdziwy bum gospodarczy. Skutkiem napływu obcej siły roboczej były zmiany w strukturze społecznej i wyznaniowej kraju, z widocznymi do dnia dzisiejszego konsekwencjami – 25 proc. mieszkańców RFN ma obce pochodzenie, co musi rodzić pytania o naturalizację i o to, kto może być Niemcem. Chcąc utrzymać potencjał gospodarczy RFN na przynajmniej niezmienionym poziomie, należy zagwarantować ciągły dopływ siły roboczej, dający pozytywne impulsy gospodarce. Proces ten powiązany jest z napływem imigrantów, którzy w znaczny sposób obciążają system opieki socjalnej RFN. Jednak w wielu przypadkach inwestycje w imigrantów zwracają się po 5–10 latach, a nawet się samofinansują poprzez dodatkowe dochody z VAT (konsumpcja indywidualna) i składek na ubezpieczenia socjalne. Warunkiem korzystnego oddziaływania obcej siły roboczej na gospodarkę jest stosunkowo szybka integracja imigrantów na rynku pracy.
    The question of foreigners in Germany, and primarily – the problem of a decreasing number of Germans in Germany – are hardly to be solved in the nearest future. They are rooted in the 1960s, when the so-called ‘Gastarbeiters’ (guest workers) were invited to come to Germany. It is they who contributed to that the country enjoyed a real economic boom. Still, the influx of foreign workforce resulted in a change in the social and religious structures of the state, bringing consequences that are clearly visible today – 25% of the inhabitants of the FRG are of foreign origin, which naturally must lead to asking questions about naturalization and who can be considered German. Endeavouring to maintain the economic potential of the FRG, at least on an unchanged level, the government must secure a continuous inflow of workforce, which is expected to yield positive economic impulses. This process is connected with an influx of immigrants who – to a considerable extent – become a burden to the system of social welfare of the state. However, in many cases, return on investment in immigrants comes after 5-10 years, even if only in the form of self-financing thanks to additional revenues form VAT (individual consumption) and social insurance contributions. Still, a condition behind beneficial impacting of foreign workforce on economy is a relatively quick integration of immigrants in the labor market.

    Subject and purpose of work: The article presents the diversity of the use of EU funds for tourism in Poland in the region of Eastern Poland in the years 2014–2020. The focus was on indicating the regional differentiation of the size and type structure of projects. Materials and methods: The information base was data on projects co-financed from EU funds, collected in the National Information System (KSI SIMIK 2014-2020). Results: In all voivodships, both in terms of the number of projects and their values, projects in the field of culture (cultural heritage, cultural institutions, cultural events) definitely dominated. They constituted over 50% of the total number of all projects and 65% of their total value. Conclusions: In the years 2014-2020 tourism was included in the Regional Operational Programs indirectly, which impacted on the nature of implemented projects. Between them dominated projects related to the modernization and preservation of tourism resources, especially cultural projects.

Przewodnim pojęciem tekstu, zaczerpniętym z myśli Victorii Nelson, jest psychotopografia – dynamiczna projekcja podmiotowych doświadczeń, wspomnień i fantazji na przestrzeń świata przedstawionego, a zarazem układ wpływów i interakcji, które łączą podmiot literacki z przestrzenią zewnętrzną. Metafory psychotopograficzne często odwołują się do tego, co traumatyczne, wyparte lub niedostępne pamięci w trybie świadomej anamnezy.
    This article analyzes the relations between space and the subject (i.e., the configuration composed of the character’s I, the protagonist’s, I and the narrator’s I) in two short stories by Zygmunt Haupt, namely “Gołębie z placu Teodora” [Pigeons from Theodor’s Square] and “O Stefci, o Chaimie Immerglücku i o scytyjskich bransoletkach” [About Stefcia, Chaim Immerglück and Scythian bracelets]. The author draws on Victoria Nelson’s concept of psychotopography – it is a dynamic projection of subjective experiences, memories, and fantasies onto the space of the represented world and at the same time a system of influences and interactions that connect the literary I with the external space. Psychotopographic metaphors often refer to traumatic, repressed or (anamnestic) inaccessible memories.

    The subject of this article is the presentation of issues futility and transience found in the manuscript of Medytacje (“Meditations”) by Teresa Petrycówna (about 1629-1700), a Norbertine nun in the Krakow monastery in Zwierzyniec. The first part of the ar - ticle gives the story of the Norbertine monastery in Zwierzyniec, presents characte- ristics of the congregation, and describes the figure and works of Teresa Petrycówna. Attention is also drawn to the inspiration and interpretive contexts present in her re- flections. The core part of the paper shows, based on the example of Petrycówna’s thought, that the idea of futility and transience of the world and the misery of the human condition also guided the Krakow Norbertine. The vanitative topoi used by her, as well as metaphors and comparisons, are an expression of general ideas abo- ut temporality. The theme of mortality present in these meditations was intended to encourage nuns to proper conduct during their earthly pilgrimage.
    Tematem artykułu jest przedstawienie problematyki marności i przemijalności występującej w rękopiśmiennych Medytacjach Teresy Petrycówny (ok. 1629–1700), norbertanki krakowskiego klasztoru na Zwierzyńcu. We wstępnej części artykułu przybliża się m.in. historię klasztoru Norbertanek na Zwierzyńcu, przedstawia charakterystyczne cechy duchowości zgromadzenia, prezentuje sylwetkę oraz rękopiśmienną twórczość Teresy Petrycówny. Zwraca się również uwagę na inspiracje i konteksty interpretacyjne obecne w rozmyślaniach. W zasadniczej części artykułu pokazuje się na przykładzie rozmyślań Petrycówny, że idea marności, przemijalności świata oraz nędzy kondycji ludzkiej przyświecała również krakowskiej norbertance. Wykorzystane przez nią wanitatywne toposy, metafory oraz porównania służą wyrażeniu ogólnej myśli o doczesności. Występująca w medytacjach myśl o kresie życia doczesnego miała za zadanie zachęcić zakonnice do właściwego postępowania podczas ziemskiej peregrynacji.

    Central motifs and episodes form interesting and significant links between Aksel Sandemose’s novel Det svundne er en drøm, published in 1946, and Martin A. Hansen’s novel from 1950, Løgneren. The motifs of truth versus lie, and the intermingling of the two, and of the split subject, manifest themselves in the protagonists who share a common first name, Johannes. The texts are an attempt to write diaries that transcend the borderline between past and present, fiction and reality, truth and lying. The diary form, composed in the first person as an alternative to the novel form proper, is viewed by both protagonists as an experiment that questions the ability of language to portray reality accurately and truthfully. Furthermore, the diaries break with chronology in order to come to terms with a darkness within, an essentially unknown, demonic territory that prevents knowledge and truth from emerging. Central episodes in the two diaries are practically identical, e.g. the drowning accident that takes place in both texts, the absence of the ‘I’ of the diary from home, and the sense of alienation from home. Additionally, significant symbols recur in both texts, e.g. a necklace and migratory birds. The protagonists’ relationships to women are all but identical and involve an examination of the past and of guilt that becomes a potential key to resolving what constitutes guilt, conscience, home and exile. The two texts form an intertext and there is compelling evidence pointing to Sandemose’s diary having profoundly influenced Hansen’s narrative.

W toku badań zidentyfikowano w nich 173 obiekty letniskowe, m.in. letnie rezydencje, wille na wynajem, wille z mieszkaniami na wynajem, pensjonaty. Analiza pozwoliła na próbę rozpoznanie dominujących typów zabudowy w odniesieniu do głównych grup społecznych.
    Around 1900 summer resorts near Warsaw were developing. The study identified as many as 173 summer buildings in towns and villages, such as summer residences, villas for rent, villas with apartments for rent, guest houses. The analysis was an attempt to identify the dominant types of the buildings in relation to the main social groups.

    This paper examines the secondary use of the name Maria and its derivative forms in the names of guest accommodations, so-called utility (usage) chrematonyms. It also discusses the creation of this category of chrematonyms derived from personal names, as well as their function. One of the ways in which chrematonyms are created is through the use of female names, both in their full and derivative (diminutive, hypocristic, augmentative) forms. They appear in two forms of inflection: the nominative and the genitive of the singular. The author distinguishes three categories in the analysis of onyms created from the name Maria and its derivatives: 1) names created from the full, official name (certificate) e.g. Maria, Maryla, Maryna; 2) unofficial, derived names (created with suffixes: diminutive and hypocoristic forms, positively valued, usually with suffixes -ka (also with extension -eń-ka), -sia, -’a, e.g. Marylka, Marynka, Marysia, Marysieńka, Marynia, also augmentative forms e.g. Marycha); 3) composite names in the form of prepositional phrases e.g. U Marii, U Marysi, U Marysieńki, U Marychy, U Maryli, U Marylki, U Maryny, U Maryni, U Mani, names with the structure of multi-word expressions, most often connected with the conjunction i e.g. Maria i Helena, U Marysi na Dolinie, U Marysi i Jacka, and combinations consisting of a name with a numerical sign e.g. Maria II, Maria 4, Maria 5. The names of guest accommodations perform various functions. Names of this type of objects are often associated with the owner’s name, and primarily hold a possessive function by identifying the establishment with its owner. Names which were created from the name of a wife, daughter or other close relatives of the chrematonym creator perform a memorial function. Often, chrematonym creators use names rooted in the national culture or historical names, considering them to hold prestige e.g. Marysieńka, Maria Antonina. There is a large group of names which are not related to the owner of the object nor with close female relatives. In general, they are carefully chosen for a specific advertising purpose, creating positive associations for potential guests. In such names, the use of unofficial, derivative forms provides guest accommodations with a homely character. The use of the preposition u, both in the official (U Marii, U Maryli, U Maryny) and the hypocoristic versions (U Marysi, U Marysieńki, U Maryni, U Mani) provides connotations of hospitality and welcoming.

    In the early 2000s, Hwang Seok-young published three full-length novels. They were The Old Garden (2000), The Guest (2001) and Sim-Cheong (2003). The return trilogy attracted much attention in that they were works that informed Hwang Seok-yeong’s return to the Korean literary world. He visited North Korea in 1989 and exiled in Germany until 1993. He was imprisoned shortly after returning home in 1993 and imprisoned until 1998. Conflict and anguish due to his personal history overlap in the three works. It was the thematic focus of ‘return’. ‘Return’ is not simply returning. Above all, it is an encounter with ‘self-absence’ and is the most positive return to think of ‘today’. Furthermore, the final goal is to reconcile with the present. Therefore, the three long-time narratives he published were Hwang Seok-young’s return process as a writer.
    Hwang Seokyeong opublikował na początku wieku XXI trzy powieści: Stary ogród (2000), Gość (2001) oraz Sim-cheong (2003). Powieści te prezentowały powrót Hwang Seok-yeonga do świata twórczości literackiej, stąd przykuły uwagę czytelników jako trylogia powrotu. Hwang był w 1989 roku w Korei Północnej a następnie aż do roku 1993 przebywał na wygnaniu w Niemczech. Krótko po powrocie do kraju w 1993 został uwięziony na pięć lat. Powieści te przesycone są konfliktem i udręką spowodowanymi osobistymi doświadczeniami. To właśnie stało się motywem przewodnim ‘powrotu’. ‘Powrót’ nie polega jedynie na ponownym przybyciu – jest to przede wszystkim zetknięcie się z własną ‘nieobecnością’, skłania także do pozytywnego podejścia do ‘dzisiaj’. Celem jest przecież pogodzenie się z teraźniejszością. Te trzy powieści obrazują proces powrotu  Hwang Seok-yeonga do twórczości literackiej.

    The main goal of present work was to explore the host-guest complex formation between selected bile acids (dehydrocholic, cholic, deoxycholic, taurodeoxycholic, glycodeoxycholic, glycocholic and chenodeoxycholic acid) and cyclodextrins (ß-cyclodextrin and its hydroxypropyl derivative) at sub-ambient and elevated temperature, using as a probe the phenolphthalein-cyclodextrin inclusion complex detected via UV-Vis spectrophotometry. In order to explore the general trends in the complexation ability of the bile acids by macrocycles investigated, the quantitative data set containing ?AU values was analyzed by principal component analysis.
    W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań nad oddziaływaniem wybranych kwasów żółciowych (kwas dehydrocholowy, cholowy, deoksycholowy, taurodeoksycholowy, glikodeoksycholowy, glikocholowy oraz chenodeo-ksycholowy; rys. 1) z substancjami makrocyklicznymi (ß-cyklodekstryna i jej hydroksypropylowa pochodna) w różnych temperaturach (0 oraz 30oC), wykorzystując jako detektor kompleks inkluzyjny makrocykli z fenoloftaleiną (rys. 2 i 3). Z punktu widzenia chemii analitycznej i diagnostyki medycznej kwasy żółciowe są grupą związków trudnych w detekcji i analizie ilościowej. Zastosowanie kompleksów supramolekularnych typu gość-gospodarz, w których skład wchodzi substancja barwna np. fenoloftaleina, umożliwia zastosowanie spektroftometrii do detekcji kwasów żółciowych oraz badań ich oddziaływania ze związkami makrocyklicznymi. Jest to istotne z punktu widzenia zastosowań praktycznych np. analizy kwasów żółciowych w materiałach biologicznych rozdzielanych metodami chromatograficznymi. W prezentowanej pracy dane eksperymentalne (?AU) uzyskane za pomocą spektrofotometrii UV-Vis (rys. 4) były analizowane metodą PCA (Principal Component Analysis; rys. 5). Wyniki analizy wskazują na kluczową rolę temperatury oraz podstawnika przy węglu C12 szkieletu sterydów na siłę oddziaływania badanych kwasów żółciowych z cyklodekstrynami (rys. 6). Zaobserwowano, iż w warunkach mikrochromatografii planarnej jest bardzo trudno rozdzielić parę kwasów chenodeoksycholowy/ deoksycholowy (rys. 7). Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na możliwość poprawy rozdzielania chromatograficznego wybranych par kwasów zółciowych przy zastosowaniu faz ruchomych modyfikowanych cyklodekstrynami (rys. 8).

    W latach 1919–1922 Karol Irzykowski podejmował współpracę z trzema czasopismami literackimi: „Skamandrem”, „Ponową” i „Krokwiami”. Okoliczności i przebieg tej współpracy za każdym razem były różne, ale motywacja podobna – krytyk, po I wojnie światowej mieszkający na co dzień w Warszawie, próbował bowiem nie tylko zdobyć orientację w nowych, gwałtownie rozwijających się ruchach poetyckich, ale też uzyskać na nie wpływ. Uważał, że stanowią one – często nieuświadamianą przez ich uczestników – kontynuację awangardowych idei i eksperymentów sprzed wojny, w których brał wydatny udział. Dlatego skamandrytów i ich konkurentów z „Ponowy” obejmował wspólną nazwą Najmłodsza Polska. Od wszystkich wymagał najwyższej świadomości artystycznej wyrażającej się nie tylko w utworach, ale i w programach. Na charakterystyczną dla autorów „Skamandra” niechęć do ich formułowania zareagował słynnym artykułem polemicznym Programofobia. W „Ponowie” docenił skłonności programotwórcze, lecz miał wiele zastrzeżeń do praktyki związanych z nią poetów. Pomimo przynależności do komitetów redakcyjnych obu czasopism jawnie dawał wyraz swoim zastrzeżeniom do ich linii oraz zawartości, stając się dość osobliwym, starszym recenzentem, co prowokowało młodych autorów do ironicznych czy złośliwych reakcji. Inaczej wyglądała współpraca Irzykowskiego z założonym przez Romana Zrębowicza i udatnie nawiązującym do tradycji „Chimery” czasopismem „Krokwie”. Skupione wokół niego środowisko próbowało wylansować kierunek stworzony jeszcze w przedwojennym Lwowie, zwany konstrukcjonalizmem. Krytyk, który uczestniczył wówczas w zebraniach konstrukcjonalistów, sprzyjał ich zamiarom również po wojnie. W ich organie zamieścił rzeczy dla siebie szczególnie cenne: wiersze zmarłego przyjaciela – Stanisława Womeli – i esej Alchemia ciała. Można przypuszczać, że wiązał z „Krokwiami” nadzieje na rozwój twórczości własnej, dla której w „Skamandrze” i „Ponowie” nie znalazłby dogodnego miejsca. Niestety, po wydrukowaniu dwóch zeszytów Zrębowicz musiał zaprzestać wydawania swojego czasopisma.
    Between 1919 and 1922, Karol Irzykowski took up collaboration with three literary journals: Skamander, Ponowa and Krokwie. Despite the fact that each time the circumstances and the course of this collaboration were different, the motivation remained similar. The critic, who lived in Warsaw after World War I, tried not only to familiarise himself with the new rapidly developing poetic trends, but also influence them. Irzykowski believed that these trends were an unconscious continuation of the pre-war avant-garde ideas and experiments which he himself had actively taken part in. For this reason, he collectively referred to the Skamandrites and their Ponowa adversaries as ‘Najmłodsza Polska’ [The Youngest Poland]. Karol Irzykowski required from poets the highest artistic awareness which was supposed to express itself not only in their literary works, but also in their programmes, hence “Programofobia,” Irzykowski’s acclaimed polemical article where he voiced his reaction to the reluctance to formulate artistic programmes, which was characteristic of Skamander authors. Ponowa authors, on the other hand, were appreciated for the programme-formulating inclinations, but criticised for their practices. Despite the fact Irzykowski sat on the editorial committees of both journals, he openly expressed his reservations about their approaches and content which made him quite a peculiar senior reviewer and this, on the other hand, provoked ironic and malicious reactions on the part of younger authors. Irzykowski’s collaboration with Krokwie, a periodical founded by Roman Zrębowicz and successfully cultivating the tradition of Chimera, followed a different path. The circle of writers it gathered attempted to promote the concept that had already been developed in pre-war Lwów, called ‘constructionalism.’ The critic, who at that time had actively been engaged in Constructionalists’ endeavour, supported their initiatives after the war as well. In their journal, he published materials that were particularly valuable to him, i.e. the poems of his deceased friend Stanisław Womela and the essay “Alchemia ciała” [The Alchemy of the Body]. It can be assumed that Irzykowski pinned his hopes on Krokwie with a view to developing his own artistic creation, for which he did not find a convenient place in Skamander and Ponowa. Unfortunately, soon after two issues of Krokwie had been published,Zrębowicz had to put an end to publishing his journal.

    Tra gli scritti neotestamentari ci sia una brevissima epistola, secondo la tradizione attribuita all’apostolo Giovanni, che è in gran parte dedicata al tema dell’accoglienza cristiana dei fratelli, anche forestieri, che grazie alla cordiale apertura diventano ospiti. Proprio quest’idea costituisce l’oggetto della presente riflessione. Dopo alcune informazioni sul mittente e sul destinatario della lettera, si analizzano i passaggi che contengono l’elogio dell’ospitalità di Gaio nei confronti dei fratelli (1,5.6.8). Sebbene in prima istanza l’ospitalità auspicata si riferisca ai fratelli cristiani, compresi i forestieri, cioè quelli non conosciuti personalmente da Gaio, che si sono messi a predicare il Vangelo, la lettera postula un atteggiamento identico anche nei confronti di tutti gli stranieri (compresi i non cristiani). Questo ha una importante dimensione missionaria, in quanto permette loro di contemplare il vero volto di Cristo misericordioso, perché attraverso l’ospitalità cristiana possono sperimentare concretamente la bontà di Dio e riconoscere nei discepoli di Gesù i seguaci di Dio stesso, che è Padre di tutti gli uomini.
    Wśród pism Nowego Testamentu znajduje się bardzo krótki list (3 J), tradycyjnie przypisywany apostołowi Janowi. Jest on prawie w całości poświęcony tematowi chrześcijańskiej gościnności, nawet wobec obcych, którzy dzięki serdecznej otwartości chrześcijan stają się ich gośćmi. Właśnie ta idea stanowi przedmiot studium w niniejszym artykule. Po podstawowych informacjach na temat nadawcy oraz adresata listu analizie zostają poddane fragmenty zawierające pochwałę gościnności Gajusza wobec jego braci (1,5.6.8). Choć w pierwszym rzędzie postulowana gościnność odnosi się do braci chrześcijan, także tych obcych, to znaczy nieznanych osobiście Gajuszowi, którzy wyruszyli głosić Ewangelię, list sugeruje też podobną postawę wobec wszystkich obcych (również niechrześcijan). Ma to ważne znaczenie ewangelizacyjne, bo dzięki chrześcijańskiej gościnności mogą oni konkretnie doświadczyć Bożej dobroci, a w uczniach Jezusa rozpoznać naśladowców samego Boga, który jest Ojcem wszystkich ludzi.
    Among the New Testament writings, there is a very short letter (3 John), traditionally attributed to the apostle John, which is almost entirely devoted to the theme of Christian hospitality, even towards strangers, who, thanks to the warm openness of Christians, become their guests. It is this idea which is the subject of the study in this article. After basic information about the sender and addressee of the letter, the passages containing Gaius’ praise of hospitality towards his brothers are analysed (1:5.6.8). Although in the first instance, recommended hospitality refers to Christian brothers, including those strangers, i.e. those not personally known to Gaius, who set out to preach the Gospel, the letter also advises an equal attitude towards any strangers (including non-Christians). This has an important evangelistic significance, because due to the Christian hospitality they can concretely experience God’s goodness and recognise in the disciples of Jesus the followers of God Himself, who is the Father of all people.
