Problemy osób dorosłych z niepełnosprawnością dość rzadko podejmowane były przez pedagogikę specjalną, skupiającą się głównie na dzieciach i młodzieży. Niemniej jednak ostatnie lata przyniosły wzrost zainteresowania także tą grupą osób niepełnosprawnych. W swojej pracy badawczej zajęłam się wpływem niepełnosprawności rodzica na funkcjonowanie rodziny a w konsekwencji na wychowywane w niej potomstwo. Rodzice wytyczają a następnie utrwalają u swoich dzieci uznawany przez siebie system wartości. Podczas analizy przypadków szczególnie dokładnie przyjrzałam się wypełnianiu w rodzinach rencistów takich funkcji jak: ekonomiczna, opiekuńcza (zarówno w stosunku do dzieci jak i rodziców), socjalizacyjno – wychowawcza oraz emocjonalna.
Problems of disabled adults have been described in special education literature relatively rarely as this realm of pedagogy focuses mostly on children and the youth. Nevertheless, for the past few years the interest in this group of the disabled has been increasing. In my research I aimed at the influence of a parent’s disability on a family’s effectiveness and, as a result, on children brought up in such a family. Parents define and stabilize their children’s value hierarchy. During the analysis of researched cases I focused especially on fulfilling economical, emotional, childcare, socializing and protective (towards children as well as towards parents) functions of pensioners’ families.

Artykuł, napisany przed dwoje badaczy, z których każdy reprezentuje inną perspektywę oraz odmienne zaangażowanie emocjonalne w materiał badawczy, jakim są fotografie rodzinne zebrane w Księdze Rodziny Ziemlińskich z Krobi 1867–1967, stanowi analizę funkcji fotografii rodzinnej. Katalog funkcji został zaczerpnięty z literatury, z publikacji Piotra Sztompki, Christophera Musselo oraz Pierre Bourdieu, a składały się nań: (1) umocnienie wspólnoty, (2) inicjowanie i podtrzymywanie interakcji między członkami rodziny, (3) prezentacja samego siebie, (4) dokumentacja życia rodzinnego, (5) prestiż i (6) rozrywka. Funkcje te stanowiły punkt wyjścia do niezależnej analizy fotografii rodzinnych zamieszczonych w Księdze, dokonanej przez badacza zaangażowanego (genealoga, kronikarza rodu, potomka autora Księgi) oraz badacza niezaangażowanego, który analizę materiałów wizualnych odnajduje w pryzmatach metodologicznych. Dodatkowo, rozważania obojga autorów bogato zilustrowane zostały analizowanymi materiałami – zdjęciami zamieszczonymi w Księdze, a także wykonanymi w związku z nią – przy okazji zjazdów rodzinnych czy wywiadów prasowych na ten temat. W części końcowej badacze stawiają wniosek, iż pomimo wzajemnego przenikania się interpretacji, stawiania tych samych fotografii w charakterze ilustracji różnych analizowanych funkcji, różnego stopnia zaangażowania emocjonalnego obu autorów, możliwe jest stworzenie spójnego obrazu znaczenia fotografii rodzinnej w genealogii. Dlatego też zarówno interpretacja, jak i autointerpretacja mają swoją zasadność w badaniach jakościowych opartych o analizę materiałów wizualnych.
The paper is written by thwo researchers, each representing a different perspective and a different level of emotional engagement in the research material consisting of family photos collected in Księga Rodziny Ziemlińskich z Krobi 1867–1967 [Chronicle of the Ziemliński Family of Krobia 1867–1967]. The paper constitutes an analysis of the functions of family photography. The catalogue of functions is found in reference books and papers: the publications of Piotr Sztompka, Christopher Musselo, and Pierre Bourdieu. It includes: (1) strengthening the feeling of community, (2) initiating and preserving interactions between family members, (3) self-presentation, (4) documentation of family life, (5) prestige, and (6) entertainment. These functions were the starting point of independent analyses of the family photos found in the Chronicle. They were carried out by an engaged researcher: a genealogist, the chronicler of the family, a descendant of the author of the Chronicle and an unengaged researcher, who looks at the analysis of the visual materials from a methodological perspective. What is more, the reflections of both the researchers are illustrated with photos from the Chronicle, and the photos made because of the book: during family reunions and interviews conducted in relation to it. In the final part of the paper the researchers propose that despite the mutual permeation of interpretations, perceiving the photos as illustrations of different investigated functions, and different levels of emotional engagement of both the authors, it is feasible to create a coherent image of the importance of family photography in genealogy. That is why both interpretation and autointerpretation are justified in qualitative research based on analysis of visual materials.

The modern family undergoes considerable social and cultural transformations, which results in an accumulation of problems in its internal functioning, and is relevant for the individual and social development of its members. The article describes the issue of fulfi lling the socialization and educational function as well as emotional and expressive function in complete and broken families, and their signifi cance for choosing the style of coping with diffi cult situations by young adults. The study included 233 people in the 16–24 age group. Based on the analyzes carried out, it was found that people growing up in complete families use the style focused on task and emotions more frequently, whereas respondents from broken families prefer the style focused on emotions and engaging in substitutive activities. There are differences between gender and age of people from complete and broken families, and the style of coping with problems they choose. The results of the research discussed in the article may be useful in educational and preventive practice.

This is a desire for every person to be happy and that is why people look for happiness in various ways of their existence. Undoubtedly, one of the basic ways is having a family. This is closely connected with love between two people, uniting together in marriage and by doing so fulfilling God’s primary plan. The plan has been ever since, since “cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.” (Gen 2,24). Marriage and the family are the very first, main and basic values of life where problems and challenges should be solved and accepted together. By its functions, such as procreation, social and economic, every family guarantees the continuity of social life. A family is the fundamental cell of social life. The quality of any society and the fate of people in the world depend on its functioning. By undertaking its tasks, the family opens itself to a society and, at the same time, it becomes the very first school of life and virtues. That is why it is so essential to constantly go deeply into a question of a family as the basic social institution. Every family belongs to the heritage of mankind, it is a foundation of a society and the hope of the world. It is the greatest tool of humanism and personalization of every society as a person learns to really be a man in the family. In the context of modern tasks of Church (part I), we wish to incline over the tradition of bringing up a man in the Chosen Nation. The present article discusses selected functions of an Israeli family. It concerns fathers and mothers’ duties, especially in the transmission of faith and teaching a child to build a relation with God. Moreover, the work includes following steps of “catechism” of a little child in the family (part II). The article describes the prayers of Israeli people and their favorite forms (part III). The work explains the importance of fast in a believing Christian’s life (part IV), thanks to which we deepen and strengthen the bond with God. Another important issue taken into account is the meaning of Christian Sunday in the context of Israeli Shabbat (part V). The next parts of the article name the most important celebrations in Israel, particularly Pasha (part VI). Furthermore, it is about the need to experience Pasha with the whole family as the faith bond, the virtue thanks to which a tradition is continued and the attitude to life of a young person is created. All this should be the result of the desire to live in love about which Saint Paul the Apostle wrote in 1 Corinthians13,1-13.

The family is the target of interest for many scientific fields. The family is often defined as the basic social cell, irreplaceable and a fundamental element of every society. The purpose of this article is to attempt to place a family in three dimensions, in the aspect of three security pillars, as a security entity that is responsible for shaping and modelling a security culture. The aim of this article is to try to establish a family position in three dimensions, in the three pillars of security, as a security entity responsible for shaping and modelling a security culture. A culture of security is a continuous process in which the family as an entity acts in many fields and in many ways. This process is aimed at shaping the desired social attitudes, behaviors, norms and values and developing personality under the influence of many factors, events, experiences and beliefs. The article tries to confirm the thesis that the family is the foundation on which society is built and should be under special protection, with its security unconditionally belonging to the mainstream activities in every sphere of human life.

Artykuł stanowi propozycję klasyfikacji wiedzy na temat form opieki i edukacji dzieci i młodzieży. Takie uporządkowanie wydaje się celowe w związku z częstymi zmianami systemu kształcenia i systemu opieki nad dzieckiem i jego rodziną, które spowodowały powstanie wielu luk w ich całościowym postrzeganiu. Artykuł ma charakter teoretyczny, opierając się na metodzie hermeneutyki pedagogicznej uporządkowano wiedzę na temat instytucjonalnych form uzupełniających funkcje rodziny (poziom poznawczy), zaproponowano ich klasyfikację oraz opisano zakres działania (poziom praktyczny).
This article is a proposal for the classification of knowledge on the forms of care and education of children and youth. Such classification seems suitable due to the frequent changes in the education system and the system of care for children and their families, which have created many gaps in their overall perception. The article is theoretical, and the following was achieved based on the method of pedagogical hermeneutics: the knowledge about institutions supplementing family functions (cognitive level) was organized and classified; the scope of their activities was described (practical level).

We give the complete characterization of members of Kaplan classes of products of power functions with all zeros symmetrically distributed in \(\mathbb{T} := \{z \in\mathbb{C} : |z| = 1\}\) and weakly monotonic sequence of powers. In this way we extend Sheil-Small’s theorem. We apply the obtained result to study univalence of antiderivative of these products of power functions.

The family as the smallest social entity underlies each society and fulfils three basic functions: procreative, educational and economic. Among others, deteriorating economic conditions, i.e. high unemployment rate, low salary, increase of both running and educational costs are the main problems that face contemporary families. Expansion of pathological phenomena e.g. alcoholism, drug addiction, violence within the family, and crime can lead to the breakdown of the family. Other threats to the family persistence are disintegration of an extended family, lowering number of children per family.

Na początku XXI w. rodzina polska wciąż może być badana w kontekście transformacji politycznej i ekonomicznej. Budowanie demokracji i intencjonalne kształtowanie gospodarki rynkowej odciskają swe piętno na zachodzących zmianach modelu i sposobu funkcjonowania rodziny. Artykuł bada, jak powyższe zmiany wpływają na członków rodziny, zwłaszcza tych zlokalizowanych na terenie województwa łódzkiego. Dyskusja skupia się na efektach zmian politycznych, ekonomicznych i kulturowych na funkcje współczesnej rodziny. Występujące modyfikacje odnoszą się przede wszystkim do wzrostu ważności potrzeby zabezpieczenia materialnych podstaw życia rodzinnego z uwagi na występowanie dotykającego wiele rodzin bezrobocia. Szczególna uwaga została skupiona na następujących elementach przemian rodzin – polskich, a zwłaszcza rodzin zamieszkujących województwo łódzkie – związanych z wyłanianiem się nowych zjawisk: zmianie wzorców zachowań matrymonialnych i prokreacyjnych pod wpływem bezrobocia, ubóstwa i dezorganizacji rodziny.
At the beginning of the 21st century, Polish families can still be examined in the context of the political and economic transformation. The building of democracy and the intentional, ongoing reshaping of the Polish economy in the direction of a market economy are exerting significant influences on a wide range of issues that are affecting contemporary family life. This article examines how these changes have affected members of contemporary families, especially in the Lodz voivodeship. This discussion focuses on the effects of changes (political, economic and cultural) on functions of the contemporary family. Transformations occurring currently cause certain modifications in the forms of family life that have existed up to now. These modifications consist above all in the increased need to secure a material basis for the family because the changes resulted in unemployment for many families. I am particularly concerned with the following issues: the contemporary family in Poland versus family in Lodz voivodeship, especially new trends and phenomena - the characteristic direction of changes in patterns of marital and procreation behaviours, the most important problems such as unemployment, poverty and disorganisation of the family. The article also summarizes the main conclusions regarding the current structures of families Lodz voivodeship.

This article is devoted to an analysis of the foster care system, with particular consideration of its pro-social function. It contains the initial findings of field research into the foster care system. The most important are: 1) the division of family functions between the various participants is suboptimal and generates conflicts; 2) foster families lack social and organizational support; 3) biological parents are not motivated to improve their child-raising skills; 4) in the current situation the pro-social function of foster care is not performed, and thus foster care contributes to the reproduction of pathological phenomena.

Współczesna rodzina jest narażona na działanie wielu negatywnych czynników zewnętrznych, które w sposób gwałtowny i wieloraki wpływają na jej przemiany, powodując dezintegrację i dezorganizację. Wciąż narastające tempo życia, brak czasu i cierpliwości, jak również nieodpowiednie przygotowanie do pełnienia roli rodzica to często zbyt wysokie wymagania, którym większość osób nie jest w stanie sprostać. Osobiste pragnienia, aspiracje, pogoń za karierą, których uzyskanie ma zapewnić wyższy status materialny oraz większą akceptację i szacunek społeczny niosą ze sobą realne zagrożenia dla rodziny i wypełniania jej funkcji wobec dziecka. Warto jednak wskazać, że czas poświęco¬ny na wychowanie jest czasem bezcennym. Wspólnie spędzony czas sprzyja bliskości i budowaniu więzi. Dla prawidłowego i pełnego rozwoju dziecka najistotniejsza jest jakość wspólnie przeżytego czasu – nie tylko poświęcanie go na czynności pielęgnacyjne, ale też koncentracja na dziecku, wsłuchanie się w dziecko, w jego pragnienia i potrzeby. Jednak wielu rodziców ulega złudzeniu, że wokół jest wiele pilniejszych i ważniejszych spraw, wydaje się im, że jeszcze zdążą wycho¬wać swoje dzieci. Niejednokrotnie też zdarza się, że rodzice po prostu uciekają od swoich dzieci, zasłaniając się pracą, obowiązkami i uspra¬wiedliwiając się jednocześnie, że przecież to, co robią, robią również dla dobra własnych dzieci, aby zapewnić im w przyszłości dobrobyt i bezpieczeństwo. Wiele instytucji – placówki przedszkolne, szkoły, środki masowego przekazu, środowiska lokalne, stowarzyszenia, organizacje pozarzą¬dowe, ośrodki opiekuńczo-wychowawcze, domy kultury, ośrodki pomocy społecznej, placówki kulturalne usiłują nieść pomoc rodzinom w ich działalności opiekuńczo wychowawczej. Szczególną rolę w tym procesie pomocy odgrywa przedszkole. Działalność przedszkola w swych założeniach jest ściśle powiązana i podporządkowana wycho¬waniu i socjalizacji dziecku w rodzinie, gdyż to właśnie w rodzinie realizowane powinny być funkcje i zadania wpływające na życie, rozwój, wychowanie i edukację dzieci. Rodzina to pierwsze i podstawo¬we środowisko życia dziecka, przedszkole i inne instytucje oświatowe i opiekuńcze nie przejmują funkcji wychowawczej rodziny, lecz wspierają ją w działaniach. Koncepcja przedszkola musi być więc powiąza¬na z aktualną rzeczywistością społeczną i odpowiadać na współczesne potrzeby rodzin. Prezentowany artykuł obejmuje omówienie aspektów funkcjonowania rodziny wielkiego miasta wraz z przedstawieniem wyników badań w zakresie oczekiwań rodziców wobec instytucji przedszkola.
The modern family is exposed to many negative external factors, which in a way different and rapidly lead to the disintegration and disorganization. Still increasing the pace of life, lack of time and patience, as well as inadequate preparation for the role of a parent is often too high a standard to which most people cannot cope. Personal desires, aspi¬rations, career development, for which recovery is intended to provide a higher economic status and greater acceptance and social respectabi¬lity pose a real threat to the family and the performance of its functions to a child. It should be pointed out that the time spent on education is sometimes invaluable. Time spent together helps build closeness and bonding. For a proper and full development of the child is the most important quality of time lived together - not just donating it to the nursery operations but also focus on the child, listening to the child in his desires and needs. However, many parents is the illusion that it’s getting a lot more urgent and important matters, it seems to them that still manage to raise their children. Sometimes it happens that the parents simply run away from their children, claiming that the work, duties and apologizing, however, that after what they do, they do also for the sake of their children to ensure their future prosperity and security. Many institutions – preschool institutions, schools, mass media, lo¬cal communities, associations, care and educational centers, communi¬ty centers, welfare centers, cultural institutions trying to help families in their care and educational activities. A special role in this process plays a kindergarten aid. The activities of the kindergarten in its as¬sumptions is closely linked to and subordinate to the education and socialization of the child in the family, since it was implemented in the family should be the functions and tasks that affect the life, develop¬ment, upbringing and education of children. Family is first and basic living environment for children, kindergarten and other education insti¬tutions and care do not care about the educational function of families, but support it in action. The concept of the kindergarten must therefore be linked to current social realities and to respond to contemporary needs of families. The article includes discussion of aspects of the family of the great city together with the results of research on parents’ expectations to the institution kindergarten.

Seen as the smallest social entity, the family underlies all of society and fulfills three basic functions: procreative, educational and economic. The causes of problems for modern families include, among others, deteriorating economic conditions, i.e. high unemployment rate, low salary, an increase in both the cost of living and education. Another threat leading to the disintegration of the family is the severity of pathological phenomena e.g. alcoholism, drug addiction, domestic violence, and crime. The disappearance of the multi-generational family and a decline in the number of children per family are also noted as threats.

The main task of the paper is to analyse the socio-familial aspects of the newest migration flows from Poland to Ireland that have been taking place since 2004. In order to examine this migratory phenomenon I apply a three-level analysis: on the macro-level I study statistical demographic data obtained from the Irish population censuses; on the mezzo-level I use a longitudinal (3-year) survey carried out within a selected immigrant subpopulation; on the micro-level I analyse 30 unstructured interviews with Polish immigrants. The results show that Polish emigration to Ireland is, first of all, driven by economic factors. Nonetheless, the socio-familial conditions and marital strategies also play a significant role in the processes of shaping one’s migratory experiences. The paper concludes that many Polish emigrants, including those who constituted the first flow of immigration to Ireland, are well-settled at the destination. The socio-familial circumstances become a critical factor in choosing their migration strategy.
