Green advertising encourages the public to adopt ecoresponsible behaviour in view of the deterioration of the environment. Thus, to involve everyone personally or collectively, it uses the imperative mode and deictics. The aim of this study is to highlight the main themes conveyed in green advertising in France and Poland, and also to show the interplay of personal poles in imperative slogans that become rallying phrases for the green cause. Polish makes general use of the imperative in the 2nd person singular, whereas French makes extensive use of the 2nd person plural. In both languages, the use of the 1st person plural is frequent, often accompanied by an adverb ensemble (razem) to emphasise the collective involvement in adopting eco-responsible actions.

The aim of this article is to analyse the identity construction of companion animal owners in French digital commemorative discourse. The study is based on homages to animals published on the website   of the French pro-animal organization 30 millions d’amis. The issue is being examined in relation to the speaking legitimacy of the subject and to the communication situation, which leads to the distinction of two fundamental components of their identity construction: intimate identity and situation of mourning. The study underlines community character of the commemorative discourse devoted to animals, its high level of pathemization and presence of attitudes of engagement and dramatization.

This study focuses on the play Nadine (directed in 1882), which is a free adaptation of the novel Le Bâtard imperial [The Imperial Bastard] written by Louise Michel in collaboration with Jean Winter. The dramatic text fits perfectly into the aesthetics of the theater of social protest, which, at the turn of the 20th century, enjoyed an undeniable reputation with the popular public, above all thanks to its subversive message. The analysis of the drama, which repeatedly alludes to the days of the Paris Commune (1871), reveals certain strategies implemented by the author in order to thwart the vigilance of power. First of all, Michel places the action of the play in Poland during the Cracow Uprising in 1846. Evoking an episode in a remote country that remained subject to the three great powers should not, therefore, immediately arouse the suspicions of the police. The former communard seems to be using this revolt of the Poles as a pretext to revive the grand gestures of the Parisian people. It is for the same reasons that Michel writes this play in accordance with melodramatic aesthetic because the focus on the emotional conflict in the background of the revolution was supposed to dispel mistrust authorities.

Dans cet article, l’auteur examine le préverbe dis- dans une perspective contrastive franco-polonaise. La première partie présente les enjeux théoriques concernant la théorie universelle de la préfixation sémantique, ainsi que les principes et les étapes de l’analyse sémantico-traductionnelle des préfixes. Ladite analyse est basée sur l’hypothèse que différentes significations (c’est-à-dire des valeurs sémantiques) d’un préverbe donné en langue source devraient se manifester dans la traduction des verbes préfixés en langue cible. La deuxième partie contient les résultats de l’application de la méthode proposée dans l’étude du préverbe dis-. En examinant les traductions polonaises de 42 verbes préfixés en dis-, trouvées dans deux dictionnaires, à savoir le Grand dictionnaire français-polonais et Lexique 5, l’auteur conclut que le préverbe analysé est porteur de 4 valeurs sémantiques : la valeur de mouvement/éloignement (physique ou mental) dans diverses directions, la valeur d’annulation ou inversion de l’action antérieure, la valeur de négation et la valeur de cessation/privation. Grâce à la méthode de recherche utilisée, il devient également possible de constater des différences dans la répartition de ces valeurs aux niveaux profonds du français et du polonais.  
In this article, the author examines the preverb dis- in the French-Polish contrastive perspective. The first part presents theoretical issues concerning the universal theory of semantic prefixation as well as the principles and stages of semantic-traductological analysis of prefixes. The said analysis is based on the assumption that different meanings (i.e. semantic values) of the preverb in the source language should manifest themselves in the prefixed verbs translation into the target language. The second part contains the results of the application of the proposed method in the study of the preverb dis-. By examining the Polish translations of 42 verbs prefixed by dis-, found in two dictionaries, namely Great French-Polish Dictionary and Lexicon 5, the author concludes that the analysed French preverb carries 4 semantic values: the value of moving/moving away (physically or mentally) in different directions, the value of cancellation or reversal of the previous action, the value of negation and the value of interruption/deprivation. Thanks to the applied research method, it becomes also possible to notice differences in the distribution of these values in the deep structures of the French and Polish languages.

La didactique des langues propose deux modes principaux de gestion de l’altérité en classe. La première, l’approche interculturelle, est héritée de l’approche communicative et centrée sur la rencontre interculturelle. La seconde, la perspective co-culturelle, fondée sur l’élaboration d’une culture commune négociée entre représentants de cultures différentes, correspond aux approches de la culture selon la perspective actionnelle. L’article s’interroge sur la compatibilité de ces deux approches avec le contexte hétéroglotte d’enseignement des langues. En prenant pour point de départ la conception défendue par C. Puren d’une rupture conceptuelle du rapport à l’altérité entre, d’une part, l’approche interculturelle, et d’autre part, la perspective co-culturelle, il montre la difficile compatibilité de la perspective co-actionnel au contexte hétéroglotte du fait de l’absence de la présence réelle de l’altérité en classe. En l’absence d’une véritable réflexion de la didactique des langues sur le traitement de la culture en contexte pédagogique hétéroglotte, l’approche de la culture reste fondée sur la simulation en vue d’une préparation de l’apprenant à la rencontre réelle avec autrui hors de la classe.
Language teaching offers two main modes of managing otherness in the classroom. The first, the intercultural approach, inherited from the communicative approach, focuses on the intercultural encounter. The second, the co-cultural perspective, based on the development of a common culture negotiated between representatives of different cultures, corresponds to the mode of managing in the action-oriented approach of foreign language teaching. This article questions the compatibility of these two approaches with the multilingual environment of foreign language teaching. It takes as a starting point the conception defended by Puren, who considers that there is conceptual break in the relationship to otherness between the intercultural approach and the co-cultural perspective. The article shows that the co-actional perspective is hardly compatible with the multilingual teaching context due to the absence of the real presence of otherness in class. Due to a lack of deep analysis in foreign language didactics of the treatment of culture in the multilingual teaching environment, the approach to culture remains based on simulation to prepare learner to the real encounter of otherness outside the classroom.

W kręgu moich zainteresowań badawczych znajdują się kulturemy, w tym te dotyczące drugiej wojny światowej, analizowane pod kątem tłumaczenia w obrębie pary językowej polski/francuski. Kulturemy– według definicji zamieszczonej w Dystynktywnym słowniku synonimów Alicji Nagórko, Marka Łazińskiego i Hanny Burkhardt (2004) – to „ważne dla samoidentyfikacji jakiejś społeczności słowa klucze, charakteryzujące zarówno jej stosunek do tradycji, dziedziczonych wartości, jak i radzenie sobie z czasem teraźniejszym, aktualne przeżywanie świata”. Do takich jednostek leksykalnych o nacechowaniu kulturowym i emocjonalnym zaliczam kulturemy powstałe w polszczyźnie w okresie okupacji niemieckiej jako słowa zbiorowej pamięci. We wcześniejszych pracach analizowałam kulturemy związane z Powstaniem Warszawskim 1944 roku. W niniejszym artykule proponuję porównać kilka kulturemów powstałych w niemieckim nazistowskim obozie koncentracyjnym i zagłady Auschwitz‑Birkenau, które wybrałam z polskiego opowiadania Proszę państwa do gazu Tadeusza Borowskiego, z ich wersją francuską, w dwóch tłumaczeniach na język francuski, zatytułowanych: Au gaz, messieurs -dames! w przekładzie Geneviève Daude (Editions Polonia, 1960) oraz Aux douches, Mesdames et Messieurs w przekładzie Laurence Dyèvre i Éric Veaux (Christian Bourgois Editeur, 1992). Oprócz porównania strategii tłumaczenia na język francuski wybranych kulturemów sięgnęłam do dokumentów autentycznych, by sprawdzić, czy polskie kulturemy powstałe w Auschwitz mają swoje odpowiedniki francuskie poza literaturą.
My research interests include culturemes, including those related to the Second World War, analysed in terms of translation within the Polish/French language pair. In my earlier work I examined culturemes related to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. In this article, I propose to compare a few of the culturemes that emerged in the German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, which I have chosen from the Polish short story Proszę państwa do gazu (This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen) by Tadeusz Borowski and its French versions, in two French translations entitled: Au gaz, messieurs-dames! translated by Geneviève Daude (Editions Polonia, 1960) and Aux douches, Mesdames et Messieurs! translated by Laurence Dyèvre and Éric Veaux (Christian Bourgois Editeur, 1992). In addition to comparing strategies for translating the selected culturemes into French, I reached for authentic documents to see if Polish culturemes specific to Auschwitz had French equivalents outside of literature. Culturemes, according to the definition in the Dystynktywny słownik synonimów by Alicja Nagórko, Marek Łaziński and Hanna Burkhardt (2004), are “important keywords for the self-identification of a community, characterising both its attitude to tradition, inherited values, as well as its coping with present time, its current experience of the world”. I include culturemes, created in the Polish language in the reality of the German occupation, among such lexical units of cultural and emotional character, as words of collective memory.

The relations between the sovereign courts and the intendants contain a tormented and unsuccessful history, marked since the Grand Siècle by the difficult passage from the traditional jurisdictional management of the kingdom, considered inefficient, to an organisation that supports the triumph of the absolute and administrative monarchy. In these southern lands of the kingdom of France, torn apart by the Protestant reformation and the wars, the institutional upheaval which prepared the modern state and the Napoleonic granite masses, was carried out through strong embarrassments which opposed the intendant of the generality to the court of aids in Montauban. As soon as they were created, the magistrates of the jurisdictional company multiplied the manoeuvres against the intendant to safeguard their contentious attributions and the control of the municipal funds. Their particularistic actions were denounced by the intendant, who was there to make the king present everywhere in the kingdom and was zealous in his service. Since then, all the elements were in place for the outbreak of a noisy quarrel – the lawsuit against the intendant Gaspard Lescalopier – which worried the government at the turn of the reign of Louis XV, in the middle of the tax war in 1749, when King Louis XV, whom the subjects looked upon as a charming prince, became „Louis the Unloved”. These tumults prevented the modernisation of the French monarchy and led to the troubles of the Revolution.

As Alexandre Dumas himself admitted on several occasions, his novel The Count of Monte Cristo was inspired by “Le Diamant et la Vengeance”, a short story included in Mémoires tirés des archives de la police de Paris, pour servir à l’histoire de la morale et de la police, depuis Louis XIV jusqu’à nos jours (6 vol., Paris, Levavasseur, 1838), published under the name of Jacques Peuchet (1758–1830). It is also worth noting that yet another story from the same book, “Un crime de famille”, was used by Dumas in his novel. The aim of this article is to show the extent of the influence of Mémoires tirés des archives de la police de Paris on The Count of Monte Cristo as well as the reactions of the French press concerning this fact. Furthermore, the paper examines the theory according to which the memoirs in question, although attributed to Peuchet, were in fact partially, if not entirely, written by Étienne-Léon de Lamothe-Langon (1786–1864), novelist and author of countless apocryphal memoirs published under the names of various notable Frenchmen and women.

The aim of the present study is to examine the extent to which French philology students' informal learning – in the area of multimodal literacies and leisure activities – reinforces the gains in French literature and French history and culture courses through creative mediation. We report on an experiment conducted in the years 2020-2022 in five online courses at the French Philology department of the University of Wrocław during the Covid-19 pandemic. In these courses, students were expected to personally mediate the texts or content studied in class and present them on a group Facebook site. The students' projects are classified according to two criteria (intersemiotic and intrasemiotic mediation; mediation of form and content) and prove that the involvement of informally acquired knowledge and skills not only developed the students' creativity, but also promoted interpretative processes by anchoring the formal learning of the course in personal experience.

Opis:
Assistance to the elderly remains a sector in high demand which is interested in recruiting people from migrant backgrounds. Language training for these learners in particular raises new questions for the language educator because beyond the language aspect, there is also the cultural component essential to practice. Indeed, how can we as language educator adressed a empathy culturally situated in the relationship with the elderly. Empathy is expressed differently depending on the culture present, through communication or gesture or a mixture of both. Through a collection of data, we will illustrate the importance of concepts such as empathy in situations involving end-of-life. The corpus will serve as a basis for reflection on the cultural component necessary for the care of the elderly and on the educational solutions envisaged in the training of carers of migrant background.

In the theoretical part of this paper, we propose to draw up a double panorama clarifying, on the one hand, the main linguistic and social issues connected with the feminization of job titles in the French-Polish contrastive perspective, and on the other hand, the data-driven didactic approach favouring the development of lexical and general skills. Secondly, we examine the results of a project adopting this methodology in which the formation of the feminine forms of job titles was analysed by students through lexicographic sources and a text corpus. The results show that lexicographers are not always unanimous about feminine lexemes, and that the language usage reflected in the corpus of texts using contemporary language does not confirm the use of all forms proposed by prestigious institutions and dictionaries. Another advantage of this approach lies in the development of students' autonomy, their capacity for critical analysis and their heuristic skills, which are very important extralinguistic goals in university education.

Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu są najnowsze neologizmy czasownikowe w języku francuskim, a celem podjętego badania jest określenie współczesnych tendencji słowotwórczych tej kategorii gramatycznej. Materiał badawczy pochodzi z francuskiej platformy cyfrowej Néoveille selekcjonującej neologizmy z wielkich korpusów tekstowych. Analizie jakościowej poddano próbę około 200 nowych czasowników, które zostały opisane z punktu widzenia ich właściwości formalnych i semantycznych. Jak się wydaje, owe charakterystyki związane są ściśle z funkcjami, które neologizmy czasownikowe pełnią w dyskursie.
The subject of the article are the latest verbal neologisms in French and the aim of the undertaken research is to determine the contemporary word-formation tendencies of this grammatical category. The research material comes from the French digital platform Néoveille, which selects neologisms from large text corpora. A sample of about 200 new verbs, which were described from the point of view of their formal and semantic properties, was subjected to qualitative analysis. It seems that these features are closely related to the functions that verbal neologisms perform in discourse.

The author of the paper propounds a holistic outlook on how French writers of the 19th century perceived the fate of Poland in the most dramatic moment of its history, when it was fighting a fierce, and almost hopeless battle for its independence, having disappeared from the map of Europe. In texts of many poets, publicists and men of letters in France one can find a unique set of motifs that not only reveal a highly consistent way of thinking with respect to the situation Poland was in at the time, but also build a parallel vision of its future, and even hold a belief that Poland was to play a special role among European countries. In this paper the author identifies and discusses six such motifs.

Despite drawing on French culture in earlier centuries, it was not until Napoleon created the Duchy of Warsaw in 1807 that a flood of direct and indirect transpositions of French institutions and legal solutions affected Polish lands. Under radically different socio-economic conditions, however, they frequently evolved differently from their country of origin, more than once in an unexpected direction. This article is a part of a series of publications in which, by comparing two different optics for analysing the same phenomenon, the authors encourage us to abandon national subjectivism in favour of a more objective dialogue. Indeed, the same reality can give rise to several interpretations, especially when it comes to the transposition of legal models from one country to another.

Opis:
The study of philology (including Romance studies) has opened up very widely to specialized communication, introducing LSP classes into the curricula. The basis of language content programming for professional purposes is essentially a text (specialized text). Despite its many definitions, it is necessary, first of all, to pay attention to those that treat the text as a material manifestation of discourse and genre, and use it to conduct an analysis of the communicative and linguistic needs of learners. This article discusses the problem of the (in)presence of specialized text in philological education preparing for professional activity. Based on the analysis of philological study programs in Poland, it can be seen that they use text to varying degrees and extents in the teaching of various LSP. Text is certainly part of the names of the subjects (especially translation classes), but to a small extent it is possible to notice its presence in the analysis of needs and conceptualization of content in terms of communicative practices in the target work environment.
