Opis:
Halo orbits around the Lagrange points serve as excellent platforms for scientific missions involving the Sun as well as planetary explorations. The satellites ISEE-3, GGS WIND, SOHO and ACE have exploited these orbits to accomplish their missions. The trajectory design in support of such missions is increasingly challenging as more complex missions, like the case of the Next Generation Space Telescope, are envisioned in the near future. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new chaotic-based transfer strategy that can be used to transfer a spacecraft from the vicinity of the Earth to a halo orbit around the equilibrium point L1 of the Earth-Sun system. The strategy exploits the inherent exponential sensitivity of chaotic time evolutions to perturbations to guide a spacecraft from its starting position to an invariant stable manifold of the chosen halo orbit. As just judiciously chosen perturbations are used, the transfer operation requires very small amounts of fuel. As an example, we applied the method in context of the restricted three-body problem, which gives a good insight into the strategies to be used in a real situation.

Opis:
In the paper, we discuss dynamics of two kinds of mechanical systems. Initially, we consider vibro-impact systems which have many implemen- tations in applied mechanics, ranging from drilling machinery and metal cutting processes to gear boxes. Moreover, from the point of view of dynamical systems, vibro-impact systems exhibit a rich variety of phe- nomena, particularly chaotic motion. In this paper, we review recent works on the dynamics of vibro-impact systems, focusing on chaotic mo- tion and its control. The considered systems are a gear-rattling model and a smart damper to suppress chaotic motion. Furthermore, we inve- stigate systems with non-ideal energy source, represented by a limited power supply. As an example of a non-ideal system, we analyse chaotic dynamics of the damped Duffing oscillator coupled to a rotor. Then, we show how to use a tuned liquid damper to control the attractors of this non-ideal oscillator.
Pokazano sposób zastosowania płynnego tłumika do sterowania formą atraktorów obserwowanych w nieidealnym oscylatorze.

Opis:
A critical requirement in optical chaos based secure radio over fiber (RoF) system design is the ability to control center frequency, spectral bandwidth, power level and signature of chaos to submerge message with sufficient horizontal and vertical margins both in time and frequency domains. Once frequency domain masking is completely achieved, time domain masking is met automatically, the former being more stringent. In a direct modulated semiconductor laser, the three control parameters are bias current (Ibias), modulation current (Imod) and modulation frequency (ωa). It is found that Imod increases bandwidth and amplitude dynamic range of chaotic pulses. Ibias increases the cavity power and hence average peak amplitude of laser chaotic pulses. The modulation frequency increases the speed of overall cavity dynamics and hence is used to increase the bandwidth of chaos but a corresponding increase in bias and modulation currents is required to support high repetition pulses. The results show relationship between three control parameters (bias current, modulation current and modulation frequency) in a direct modulated semiconductor laser and optical chaos bandwidth using regression.

This paper proposes a new synchronization scheme called compound-combination synchronization. The scheme is investigated using six chaotic Josephson junctions evolving from different initial conditions based on the drive-response configuration via the active backstepping technique. The technique is applied to achieve compound-combination synchronization of: (i) six identical third order resistive-capacitive-inductive-shunted Josepshon junctions (RCLSJJs) (with three as drive and three as response systems); (ii) three third order RCLSJJs (as drive systems) and three second order resistive-capacitive-shunted Josepshon junctions (RCSJJs (as response systems). In each case, sufficient conditions for global asymptotic stability for compound-combination synchronization to any desired scaling factors are achieved. Numerical simulations are employed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the compound-combination synchronization scheme. The result shows that this scheme could be used to vary the junction signal to any desired level and also give a better insight into synchronization in biological systems wherein different organs of different dynamical structures and orders are involved. The scheme could also provide high security in information transmission due to the complexity of its dynamical formulation.

In this paper, synchronization is investigated for the construction of a model of neuronal burst using backstepping control with recursive feedback. Synchronization for a model of neuronal bursting system is established using Lyapunov stability theory. The backstepping scheme is a recursive procedure that links the choice of a Lyapunov function with the design of a controller. The backstepping control method is effective and convenient to synchronize identical systems. This research work announces an eleven-term novel 4-D hyperchaotic system with two quadratic nonlinearities. We describe the qualitative properties of the novel 4-D hyperchaotic system and illustrate their phase portraits. We show that the novel 4-D hyperchaotic system has two unstable equilibrium points. The novel 4-D hyperchaotic system has the Lyapunov exponents L1 = 3.1575, L2 = 0.3035, L3 = 0 and L4 = −33.4180. The Kaplan-Yorke dimension of this novel hyperchaotic system is found as DKY = 3.1026. This paper investigates the backstepping control design with novel feedback input approach for controlling chaotic systems to guarantee the complete synchronization as well as the anti-synchronization of chaotic systems, viz. n-scroll Chua (K. Wallace et.al. 2001) and Lur’e chaotic systems. Our theorems on hybrid synchronization for n-scroll Chua and Lur’e (J.Suyken et.al. 1997) chaotic systems is established using Lyapunov stability theory. Based on the Lyapunov function, the backstepping control is determined to tune the controller gain based on the precalculated feedback control inputs. The backstepping scheme is recursive procedure that links the choice of a Lyapunov function with the design of a controller and guarantees global stability performance of strict-feedback chaotic systems. Since the Lyapunov exponents are not required for these calculations, the backstepping control method is effective and convenient to synchronize the chaotic systems. Mainly this technique gives the flexibility to construct a control law. Numerical simulations are also given to illustrate and validate the hybrid synchronization results derived in this paper.

The chaotic phenomena of coronary artery systems are hazardous to health and may induce illness development. From the perspective of engineering, the potential harm can be eliminated by synchronizing chaotic coronary artery systems with a normal one. This paper investigates the chaos synchronization problem in light of the methodology of sliding mode control (SMC). Firstly, the nonlinear dynamics of coronary artery systems are presented. Since the coronary artery systems suffer from uncertainties, the technique of derivative-integral terminal SMC is employed to achieve the chaos synchronization task. The stability of such a control system is proven in the sense of Lyapunov. To verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, some simulation results are illustrated in comparison with a benchmark.

In this research work, a twelve-term novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system with three quadratic nonlinearities has been derived by adding a feedback control to a ten-term 4-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system (Jia, 2007) with three quadratic nonlinearities. The 4-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system (Jia, 2007) has the Lyapunov exponents L1 = 0.3684,L2 = 0.2174,L3 = 0 and L4 =−12.9513, and the Kaplan-Yorke dimension of this 4-D system is found as DKY =3.0452. The 5-D novel hyperchaotic Lorenz system proposed in this work has the Lyapunov exponents L1 = 0.4195,L2 = 0.2430,L3 = 0.0145,L4 = 0 and L5 = −13.0405, and the Kaplan-Yorke dimension of this 5-D system is found as DKY =4.0159. Thus, the novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system has a maximal Lyapunov exponent (MLE), which is greater than the maximal Lyapunov exponent (MLE) of the 4-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system. The 5-D novel hyperchaotic Lorenz system has a unique equilibrium point at the origin, which is a saddle-point and hence unstable. W pracy przedstawiono badania nad zastosowaniem chaotycznej modulacji szerokości impulsów (CPWM) w przekształtnikach energoelektronicznych DC/DC. Głównym celem wykorzystania modulacji CPWM jest zmniejszenie zakłóceń elektromagnetycznych (EMI), czyli spłaszczenie widma sygnału wyjściowego przekształtników. W artykule zamieszczono opis kilku wariantów modulacji CPWM. W każdym z nich sygnał nośny ma charakter chaotyczny, co powoduje, że zawory energoelektroniczne przełączają się nieregularnie. Splot z takim sygnałem nośnym powoduje, że widmo sygnału staje się bardziej rozmyte. Wyniki badań wskazują na duże możliwości modulacji CPWM w zastosowaniu do redukcji zakłóceń EMI przekształtników energoelektronicznych, w szczególności do zastosowań w odnawialnych źródłach energii.
In the paper, the research concerning the usage of the Chaotic Pulse Width Modulation (CPWM) in a buck step down converter was presented. The main purpose of the application of CPWM is the reduction of the EMI interference by flattening of the power spectrum of output voltage. This article contains the description of few types of the CPWM modulation. In all of them, a carrier signal behaves chaotically, what makes that the power electronics keys switch irregularly. A convolution with such a carrier signal makes that the power spectrum becomes fuzzier. The results of the presented study depicted on big possibilities of the CPWM modulation for the EMI interference reduction in power electronics, particularly in renewable energy devices.

Opis:
In the current literature, it is clearly seen that most of the traffic chaos is generally observed at intersections of the urban roads in cities. On the other hand, many current traffic studies and research prove that fixed-time signalized intersections cannot have a good ability to control and manage current traffic flow at signalized intersection legs. For this aim, intelligent intersections were developed and started to be used in many cities all over the world in the last decade. These new intelligent intersection systems suggest dynamic signal times for all intersection legs by using real-time measured traffic data. These systems generally use cameras or loop detectors, which are located in the proper places on a signalized intersection leg and record vehicle movements. Within the scope of this study, a performance comparison was made for before and after the camera-based intelligent intersection applications at three isolated pilot signalized intersections within the scope of the "Smart City Traffic Safety" project, which is one of the largest Intelligent Transportation System projects in Turkey. After the system was activated, it was observed that the drivers had impatient behaviors in the beginning and had difficulty getting used to these new systems. After the signal cycle was regulated with the learning of artificial intelligence, it was seen that the drivers had more patience and more observant behaviors. It was also obtained from the analysis results that these new intelligent systems resulted in an average 16% decrease in control delays and a 20% decrease in vehicle speeds.

Opis:
In the paper, the research of a buck step down converter with the usage of an interval arithmetic was presented. The interval arithmetic is the part of mathematics that is concerned with an uncertain data analysis. In this paper, the methods that aim to evaluate the stability of a system on the ground of the interval change of a parameter value were applied. The next studied aspect was the accordance of numerical calculations with results of measurements taken from the laboratory set. In the control process of the buck converter, the method of the perturbation of a control parameter was used. This method consists in the synchronization of the trajectory on which the system moves to the stable orbit. Choosing one of the system parameters the perturbed signal is added. In this way, the unstable periodic orbits inside of an attractor are stabilized by the low amplitude perturbation. The obtained results depicted on the high possibilities of the interval arithmetic in the researches of power electronic systems and analysis of their operation modes.

Opis:
Dynamic properties of the three degrees of freedom autoparametric system with spherical pendulum including the magnetorheological (MR) damper are investigated. It was assumed that the spherical pendulum is suspended to the oscillator excited harmonically in the vertical direction. The influence of damping force described by Bingham’s model on the energy transfer can be modified by magnetic field. The equation of motion have been solved numerically. In this type system one mode of vibration may excite or damp another one, and for except different kinds of periodic vibrations there may also appear chaotic vibration. Results show that MR damper can be used to change the dynamic behavior of the autoparametric system with spherical pendulum giving semiactive control possibilities.

Opis:
In this work, we report a new chaotic population biology system with one prey and two predators. Our new chaotic population model is derived by introducing two nonlinear interaction terms between the prey and predator-2 to the Samardzija-Greller population biology system (1988). We show that the new chaotic population biology system has a greater value of Maximal Lyapunov Exponent (MLE) than the Maximal Lyapunov Exponent (MLE) of the Samardzija-Greller population biology system (1988). We carry out a detailed bifurcation analysis of the new chaotic population biology system with one prey and two predators. We also show that the new chaotic population biology model exhibits multistability with coexisting chaotic attractors. Next, we use the integral sliding mode control (ISMC) for the complete synchronization of the new chaotic population biology system with itself, taken as the master and slave chaotic population biology systems. Finally, for practical use of the new chaotic population biology system, we design an electronic circuit design using Multisim (Version 14.0).

Opis:
The paper presents results of examination of control algorithms for the purpose of controlling chaos in spatially distributed systems like the coupled map lattice (CML). The mathematical definition of the CML, stability analysis as well as some basic results of numerical simulation exposing complex, spatiotemporal and chaotic behavior of the CML were already presented in another paper. The main purpose of this article is to compare the efficiency of controlling chaos by simple classical algorithms in spatially distributed systems like CMLs. This comparison is made based on qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods proposed in the previous paper such as the indirect Lyapunov method, Lyapunov exponents and the net direction phase indicator. As a summary of this paper, some conclusions which can be useful for creating a more efficient algorithm of controlling chaos in spatially distributed systems are made.

In this research article, we present the concepts of fractional-order dynamical systems and synchronization methodologies of fractional order chaotic dynamical systems using slide mode control techniques. We have analysed the different phase portraits and time-series graphs of fractional order Rabinovich-Fabrikant systems. We have obtained that the lowest dimension of Rabinovich-Fabrikant system is 2.85 through utilization of the fractional calculus and computational simulation. Bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponents of fractional order Rabinovich-Fabrikant system to justify the chaos in the systems. Synchronization of two identical fractional-order chaotic Rabinovich-Fabrikant systems are achieved using sliding mode control methodology.

Opis:
The problem of output regulation deserves a special attention particularly when it comes to the regulation of nonlinear systems. It is well-known that the problem is not always solvable even for linear systems and the fact that some demanding applications require not only magnitude but also rate actuator constraints makes the problem even more challenging. In addition, real physical systems might have parameters whose values can be known only with a specified accuracy and these uncertainties must also be considered to ensure robustness and on the other hand because they can be crucial for the type of behaviour exhibited by the system as it happens with the celebrated chaotic systems. The present paper proposes a robust control method for output regulation of chaotic systems with parameter uncertainties and subjected to magnitude and rate actuator constraints. The method is an extension of a work recently addressed by the same authors and consists in decomposing the nonlinear system into a stabilizable linear part plus a nonlinear part and in finding a control law based on the small-gain principle. Numerical simulations are performed to validate the effectiveness and robustness of the method using an aeronautical application. The output regulation is successfully achieved without exceeding the input constraints and stability is assured when the parameters are within the specified intervals. Furthermore, the proposed method does not require much computational effort because all the control parameters are computed offline.
