Opis:
The purpose of this article is to draw the reader’s attention to the research problems of military leadership that are identified at the lowest levels of command in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. The authors presented cases of soldiers who present various attitudes in the context of understanding the role of a military leader, as well as ambiguously perceived competencies in this area, including their self-assessment. The problem of a systemic approach to the formation of leadership competencies in military education units is addressed, and the dangers of low levels of commander traits, aptitudes, and competencies are highlighted. The final conclusions inspire the reader to gain knowledge and undertake interdisciplinary research on military leadership.

Opis:
The process of liberalization of the gas market influences the behavior of market players. In Poland, there has been adopted a model based on the introduction of mandatory gas sales involving the exchange segment. It has contributed to the greater involvement of stakeholders in gas trading on the Polish Power Exchange (TGE). The interest in this segment has also been enhanced by the opportunity to actively participate in cross-border trade. The paper presents the analysis of trading strategies taking into account the limitations of the existing regulations, market liquidity, price volatility and product structures on the Polish market and neighboring markets. Calculations reflect real price data from 2015 and also include logistics costs in case of gas physical delivery. Conducted analyses showed that discrepancy between gas prices in Poland and Germany, and Poland and the Czech Republic is not significant enough to generate profit in most cases. Negative results have been obtained regardless of the direction of transmission of gas, kind of contracts or selection of entry point into the Polish system. There is therefore no universal mechanism and trading strategy that may guarantee a permanent generation of profits. The few cases in which a positive result was obtained, mainly relate to the import of gas to Poland from Germany.

The idea of the green city is gaining importance across the world due to the image of cities as well as some economical, social, and especially ecological reasons. The term and praxis of the green city is a material for research and analysis of various science disciplines. We can point out to different specificity of green cities due to their genesis, role of the government and local authorities in development programming, the role of private-public partnership etc. The purpose of the article is to highlight specific elements of development of green cities in Asia on the basis of three case studies and to precise the possible categorization in terms of the mentioned term. The methodology is based on literature review and a study visit. The limitations of the research are related to the current construction of two out of three green cities being analysed. Practical implication of the paper is the issue of the level of activities undertaken to create green cities from scratch or with the use of a smart technology. The problem of green cities is not enough developed in Poland, neither in theoretical nor in practical aspects. More attention is put on the issue of sustainability or eco-cities.

Opis:
This paper sets out to investigate changes and individual irregularities in the Received Pronunciation of a number of individuals over time and to compare them with the changes noted in contemporary RP in the literature. The aim of the study is to ascertain whether accent change affects individuals during their lifetimes or is only brought about by new generations of speakers accepting different pronunciations as the norm and effectively speaking with a different accent to older generations within their social circle. The variations/changes looked for were: CLOTH transfer, CURE lowering, GOAT allophony, R-sandhi, and T-voicing. The procedure of the study was to identify the presence or absence of these features in the speech of certain individuals in recordings made over a period of at least 35 years. The individuals studied were: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Baroness Thatcher, Sir David Attenborough and David Dimbleby. The results of these comparisons suggest that individual speakers are not greatly affected by changes in pronunciation taking place around them and generally stay with the preferred pronunciation of their youth. There are, however, cases where a general uncertainty amongst speakers of the accent, here found in CURE lowering, does influence the speech of individuals over time.

Geometallurgy is a growing area within a mineral processing industry. It brings together tasks of geologists and mineral processing engineers to do short and medium term production planning. How-ever, it is also striving to deal with long term tasks such as changes in either production flow sheet or considering different scenarios. This paper demonstrates capabilities of geometallurgy through two case studies from perspective of Minerals and Metallurgical Engineering division Lulea University of Technology. A classification system of geometallurgical usages and approaches was developed in order to describe a working framework. A practical meaning of classification system was proved in two case studies: Mikheevskoye (Russia) and Malmberget (Sweden) projects. These case studies, where geometallurgy was applied in a rather systematic way, have shown the amount of work required for moving the project within the geometallurgical framework, which corresponds to shift of the projects location within the geometallurgical classification system.

Opis:
Much research supports the everyday therapeutic and deeper socialneurophysiological influence of singing songs alone and in groups (Austin, 2008; Cozolino, 2013; Sacks, 2007). This study looks at what happens when Japanese students teach short English affirmation songlet-routines to others out of the classroom (clandestine folk music therapy). I investigate 155 student-conducted musical case studies from 7 semester-long classes (18 to 29 students per class) over a 4-year period. The assignments, their in-class training, and their results are introduced, with examples directly from their case studies. Each class published their own booklet of case studies (a class publication, available to readers online for research replication and modeling). Results show that most primary participants enjoyed spreading these positive songlets as they became “well-becoming agents of change” in their own social networks. “Well-becoming” emphasizes an agentive action or activity that creates better well-being in others, an action such as the sharing or teaching of a songlet. The qualitative data reveals a number of types of well-becoming such as social and familial bonding, meaning-making, teaching-rushes, and experiencing embodied cognition. The project also stimulated wider network dissemination of these well-becoming possibilities and pedagogical insights.

Studies focused on single fuel particles are designed to provide direct and unbiased information regarding the combustion process. The resulting data is primarily used to create and/or validate mathematical theories and models of the combustion process. The use of a single coal particle as a research object was first initiated over 40 years ago and nowadays is still one of the most important stages in a number of fundamental coal research techniques. Such experiments are especially important in the context of modern concepts that are now under development for new, sustainable and environmentally neutral coal processing technologies. Article summarizes a broad spectrum of research methodologies, which were created in the recent history of single coal particle studies and motivated by the need to develop knowledge for new, clean coal technologies. The purpose of the experiments presented herein was to find the most comprehensive examination of the processes, where coal particles undergo changes at high temperatures. This objective in the case of coal combustion technology generally boils down to the characterization of particle ignition phenomenon and substages of particle combustion. However, recent data presented by different research groups is still not always in agreement even when describing the same investigated issue. These differences often result from the shortcomings of the study methodology itself, which our article also attempts to highlight and analyze.

Opis:
This article examines literary criticism in Poland after 1989 from the dynamic perspective of elites and elitism. Drawing on various elite theories, mainly the more contemporary ones, for which the most important point of reference is Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of distinction, the author shows how these concepts function in relation to the aesthetic and social dominants of the Polish literary scene after 1989. The author analyzes three “critical case studies:” Krzysztof Uniłowski’s article from 2005, a Facebook event related to the “auctioning” of Konrad Góra’s book of poetry in 2020, and recent trends in the language used by the young generation of critics. The author is interested in the relationship between literature and criticism and the dominant aesthetic tendencies and the socio-political context, especially the use of the concepts of elites and elitism, be it analytically or persuasively, consciously or unconsciously, positively or negatively, etc.

This paper describes our experience with introducing modern robotics through Robot Operating System. ROS framework allows rapid robot prototyping and gives access to many state-of-the-art robotic solutions. It is however, software oriented and requires its users to understand well software development ideas and methods. While teaching undergraduate students ROS, we came up with some solutions how to introduce it to people without a deep background in computer science. The paper presents our Mymodel robot application that simplifies modeling of the robots using URDF format and some Arduino based programs. We have also reported results of students’ projects.

The local media market in Poland developed in very particular social conditions, conditions which Nowak (1979, 1981) described as a “social void”. As a result, it might be presumed that it was more likely that the new forms of society (including local media) were formed on the basis of the “bonding” type of social capital rather than the “bridging” type. This might be one of the reasons why tight and complex relationships between the local media and other social actors still exist. On the basis of my own qualitative research (case studies conducted in four small towns in Poland), this article shows how complex the local relations are and describes the involvement of local journalists and local media owners in these networks of relations which might often be a cause of conflicts of interest (individual or institutional) or media bias.

This text analyzes three early Byzantine source accounts on clothing prices from the beginning of the 5th to the early 7th centuries in Italy (Rome), Palestine (probably in Jerusalem), and Egypt (Alexandria). The compiled and discussed narrations were compared with other contemporary source reports, which feature analogical figures describing the amount of prices, wages, taxes, and other values or distances. By making a comparative analysis, the author came to the conclusion that these data are recurrent, and, therefore, unreliable. This observation also applies to the clothing prices discussed in the text, which, undoubtedly, should be considered topical.

Asian regions and cities have become important international actors but the phenomenon of international engagement of regional and local governments in the Asian countries is still not sufficiently described and recognized in the scientific literature. So far, the research on paradiplomacy mostly concentrated on Europe and North America. However, as shown in this study, the regularities present in Western countries are not necessarily universal. The distinctive features of each Asia n country create quite unique contexts, in which sub-regional actors have to develop their international strategies. Same of those contexts were presented in this study in order to provide better understanding of the conditions of paradiplomacy in Asia.

The automotive industry is characterized by a high degree of uncertainty. Companies are facing the challenge of producing different systems simultaneously. Additionally, the global quantity of electric vehicles is also expected to increase significantly. This results in the following capability to remain competitive: Effective and efficient adaptions of production systems to model variations and volume increases. While flexible production is identified as the most promising concept, defining the actual flexibility level of included production resources is essential for its proper realization. A literature review on existing flexibility assessment approaches revealed their emphasis on high-level enablers and limited practical applicability in the automotive industry. In contrast, focusing the assessment on single workstations supports the selection of appropriate production resources. Therefore, a simple and structured standard procedure for a production resource flexibility assessment was developed. This theoretical construct was subsequently complemented with practical insights through its application on two real-life case studies within one automotive engineering company. Summarizing and discussing the findings in combination with a conclusion completed this paper.

This paper discusses Julia Hartwig’s poetic texts in which she focuses on the prominent classical and pop musicians (composers as well as performers, such as Ludwig van Beethoven and Janis Joplin). In Tomasz Cyz’s interview with Hartwig, she claims that “the origin, creation and the performance of music is always more interesting than the humanity”. However, it appears that in her poems, Hartwig is in fact more interested in musicians’ humanity, their behavior and various features which usually seem to be neglected when those great musicians’ work is appreciated. In this article, I am examine the construction and purpose of Hartwig’s “case studies”.

The article analyzes the complementarity of image and text in political cartoons taking into account the following parameters: Prior Text(s), Producer, Cartoon, and Viewer/ Reader. In the meaning-making process, the viewer/reader constantly alternates between image and text. The two modes of communication can convey the same message(s), each of the modes can strengthen the meaning of the other; the two might have nothing in common, yet, when combined, will produce a meaningful message. Visual metaphors and metonymies play an important role in the construction of meaning in political cartoons. They are analyzed from the point of view of conceptual metaphor and metonymy theory and its application in multimodal communication. Humour in political cartoons is also briefly discussed.

An analysis of the banking sector shows that innovation has become a key strategy for banks to strengthen their competitive position and the struggle to win customer base. Innovativeness is becoming more and more important and banks which do not adjust to this trend tend to lose their market share. Their numerous innovative activities and wide international recognition in that matter convinced the Author to focus on PKO BP, ING Bank, mBank, and Idea Bank to illustrate the research problem. The aim of the article is to show the impact of innovation on the competitiveness of banks. The article represents a broad discussion of the definition of the concept of competitiveness, the types of financial innovation, and an analysis of the indicators of efficiency of selected banks. It also links the relevant indicators of the introduced innovations.

Opis:
One of the legacies of the coal mining industry is the existence of numerous colliery spoil mounds. Run-off waters from some of these mounds result in oxidation of sulphur compounds causing pH to drop to perhaps as low as 2.5. At this pH, mobility for metals increases and it results in destruction of both flora and fauna. In order to reduce acidity, a number of solutions have been investigated with varying degree of success. A recent study to reduce acidity in spoil run-off water included the use of Basic Oxygen Steel slag. Its slow release of lime resulted in longer term remediation compared with other techniques. In addition to this, steel slag contains elements which are essential for plant growth and can be regarded as a weak fertiliser. This was substantiated in two field trials, which had the aim of not only remediating acidity from two different types of colliery spoils, but also to develop a composition that supports grass growth. The objectives were achieved at both sites and some of the results of over 5000 chemical tests conducted during these studies are reported in this paper.

The paper deals with the problem of optimal configuration of a type of transfer lines which are equipped with transfer machines. Such machines perform operations with standard modular spindle heads which are activated sequentially. All operations assigned to the same spindle head (block of operations) are executed simultaneously by a set of tools fixed at the spindle head. The quantity of machines and spindle heads used to produce a part with the given productivity rate defines the final cost of the transfer line which must be minimized. To minimize this cost, a combinatorial problem of operations assignment to blocks and machines must be solved. The solution must provide a desired productivity (cycle time), it must also satisfy precedence and compatibility constraints. In this paper, we suggest improved versions of FSIC heuristic algorithm in order to help line designers to solve real-scale industrial problems. Results of computational experiments obtained for industrial cases are presented.

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of maternal and paternal languages on the development of a bilingual child’s language. It is assumed that a mother’s language has the greatest influence on a child’s language. In addition, maternal language is responsible for the largest part of the variety in the language children understand and use as well as the development of bilingualism. We also believe that fathers influence the language of a home and mothers influence the language of a child. In our analysis, the focus is on the quantity and quality of exposure to the given languages, the pattern of language used by parents, the language of formal instruction and the style of parent-child interaction. Over one hundred and fifty case studies were under examination depicting various language constellations, such as e.g. Polish and English, Polish and Russian, Polish and German, Polish and Ukrainian, Polish and Belarusian, Polish and Italian. Hence, with this paper we hope to be able to better understand cross-linguistic influence on bilingual speakers.
Przebadano ponad sto pięćdziesiąt studiów przypadków przedstawiających różne konstelacje językowe, takie jak np. polski i angielski, polski i rosyjski, polski i niemiecki, polski i ukraiński, polski i białoruski, polski i włoski.

Research Objective: This article aims to discuss the results of research conducted as part of a project carried out by PhD students at Warsaw School of Economics in 2014-2015 within the context of work culture in business education, including the developments attitudes of entrepreneurship. The Research Problem and Methods: The main research problem is formulated in the following, complex question: What is the teaching culture of the teaching processes carried out by PhD students and which elements of the processes are emphasised and which are not taken into account by them? The research method was case study. The Process of Argumentation: The analysis of empirical data is preceded by an overview of the theories of work culture in business education within the context of the latest trends in education as a result of changes in the (business) environment, including the changing expectations of university graduates with business degrees in terms of their attitudes to enterprise.Research Results: The processes under analysis only marginally take into account an education that develops attitudes of entrepreneurship, i.e. freedom of activity, flexibility and creativity, responsibility sharing, openness to new roles, the use of best practices and, last but not least, atmosphere of innovation. Conclusions, Innovations and Recommendations: Research shows that contrary to expectations, the predominant approach to teaching adopted by candidates for academic teachers is the mechanistic-passive culture model. Only to a small degree does their teaching show features of the humanistic culture model, which is based on interactive forms of teaching and activating methods, which means that the teaching process is not focused on developing the students’ attitude of entrepreneurship. In this situation, practical teaching of doctoral candidates concerning innovative didactic methods, including business methods and implementation of social competence within teaching, is of particular importance.

Opis:
The use of the Q-slope value is a relatively new approach for the stability investigations of rock slopes. In this study, four different slopes in Giresun and Ordu cities of Turkey were investigated to assess whether the Q-slope approach is usable for varying slope heights, or not. A back analysis was carried out for a landslide in a case study quarry located in Kovanlik municipality of Giresun city. Carrying out detailed investigations on the geotechnical drill cores and the field studies, the Q-slope value of the rock mass of the Kovanlik quarry was determined as 0.58. According to the Q-slope approach, the slope which had a landslide under the case of 49° general slope angle and 225 m height should have been stable at a general slope angle of 59°. It has been found that the Q-slope approach is not favorable for a high slope with the height of 225 m. Two roadway excavations with steep slope angles and low heights smaller than 25 m were also investigated within this study. According to the Q-slope value, the roadway slopes which are stable for more than 3 years are estimated to be unstable. Therefore, the Q-slope approach was found also misleading for slopes with low heights like those under 25 m. On the other hand, the Q-slope method usability is confirmed obtaining parallel results with the observations from another case study slope with a height of 78 m. Although it has become a popular empirical method in the recent years, it is recommended to revise the Q-slope approach or limit its use depending on the slope height parameter.

Purpose: This paper aims to analyse and discuss well-being initiatives undertaken by companies during the pandemic. Well-being is considered an overall subjective evaluation of an individual's life, including three main areas: psychological (ability to cope with stressors and stay in a positive mood), physical (good health, fitness, beauty, sleep) and social (positive relationships, support). It influences work satisfaction, motivation and performance. Design/methodology/approach: The applied method was a case study analysis. 21 companies and 105 well-being interventions were investigated in terms of the type, frequency, expected outcomes, implementation process, measurement methods and cooperation with employees. Findings: Results show that the most common are interventions in mental health and physical activity improvements as well as building positive relationships between employees working remotely. Interventions usually suit the employees' needs; however, well-being and intervention effectiveness are not very well measured and investigated in a study sample. More reliable and evidence-based methods of implementation of well-being management are needed. Research limitations/implications: A certain limitation may be the deliberate selection of the research sample – only companies operating in Poland were included in the study, which excludes generalisation of the results obtained. Practical implications: Building a culture of well-being in an organisation should not be based on random, ad hoc activities, but rather on a long-term strategy in which both employees, leaders and managers play an important role. Originality/value: The described research results prove that a large group of entrepreneurs in the country has entered the phase of business maturity and appreciate the role and importance of the organisational culture in terms of well-being at work during a difficult period of the pandemic. The article may be especially useful for HR managers and HR business partners.

Opis:
This article reviews the existing situation of the riverbanks development in three Eastern European capital cities. The aim of the work is to compare the riverbank management in Warsaw, Budapest and Prague and describe the main features of greenery system along the rivers. The material taken to the analyses was gathered by European Environment Agency and published in GIS format under the project Urban Atlas. The delimitation of the research area covers 500m from each site of the river beds. The research has shown that Warsaw has the biggest rate of the green area, especially along the Vistula right bank. It is still a great potential of land to develop for the city. Danube’s greenery in Budapest is concentrated mostly on the Margaret Island, whereas the Vltava greenery in Prague consists in majority of the pocket parks along the river. The low amount of green area at the rivers in the last two case studies and their patchwork location makes those systems too small to think about green riverbanks as a big scale and coherent linear project. Current trends of waterfront management are slowly entering those three cities mostly in a form of small social participation initiatives. It seems that the waterfronts will change their face soon in all analysed cities commenced by the urban acupuncture initiatives.

Laser processing is unarguably associated with some alterations of cementitious materials' geometrical microstructure and chemical composition. Since high temperature is involved in the laser cleaning process, the chemical composition of surfaces may change, followed by crack development and subsequent changes of roughness. The relationship between laser treatment and substrate parameters is a two-way relationship. The great variation in absorptivity of highly developed surfaces of cementitious materials results in substantial differences in their responses to laser irradiation. Paper presents selected results of three investigations on the effect of laser radiation on characteristics of porous cementitious materials.

One of the major problems in bioacoustics, direct identification of organisms at species level was reviewed with comparison between modern acoustic-based statistics (algorithms, multivariate analyses, scattering models) and observatory acoustics on behavioral natures ascertained to the species (diel vertical migration, response to ambiance, school shapes). Modern biacoustics promise surely gate soon to fulfill solution of the problems. Presently, current acoustical knowledge required behavioral characterization identical to organisms targeted for direct identification. Integrating such techniques with previously obtained background knowledge on characteristics specific to certain organisms, acoustic techniques allow a significantly larger area of the ocean interior to be surveyed at a quite finer resolution on ecology of the scatterers than conventional methods. For instance, Calanus euxinus (copepod) and Sagitta setosa (cheatognath) have distinct patterns of vertical migration and time spent swimming, depending on the DO concentration of the water column in the Black Sea.

The process of abandonment of arable land seems to be one of the main factors of changes in landscape and soil properties. This problem occurs on nearly 10% of arable land in Poland. The natural aspect of transformation is connected with the entrance of birch trees on uncultivated land and the anthropogenic aspect is associated with pine plantations. In the beginning, the appearance of trees on the former arable land changes soil properties because soil (and plant) is the most dependent component of the natural environment. In this paper, the role of birch and pine was analysed in comparison to arable land, abandoned land without trees and birch tree communities of different age. After the entrance of birch trees, soil profiles were enriched in nitrogen and elements such as aluminium, iron, cadmium, lead, cobalt, zinc, which were moved from the sod horizon of soil or come from the atmospheric load and were accumulated in litter or the humus horizon. Compared to arable land, some elements, e.g. calcium had lower concentration under birch trees. In comparison to cultivated land, birch and pine trees made the soil environment more natural, as expressed in the chemical properties of soil.

This study explores the foreign language learning emotions of four EFL adolescent students in Romania and the ways in which their emotions emerge in their sociocultural context. Multiple qualitative methods were employed over a school semester, including a written task, semi-structured interviews with the learners and their teachers, lesson observations and English-related events outside the classroom. It was found that, while all four participants reported experiencing positive emotions in language learning, a distinction was identified in the intensity and stability of their emotions. Two participants expressed a strong and stable emotion of love towards English, while the other two participants experienced enjoyment in their English language learning without an intense emotional attachment to English. Unlike enjoyment, love was found to be the driving force in the learning process, creating effective coping mechanisms when there was a lack of enjoyment in certain classroom situations and motivating learners to invest greater effort into language learning in and out of the classroom. The findings thus revealed that, unlike enjoyment, love broadened cognition and maintained engagement in learning. The study emphasizes the role of strong, enduring positive emotions in teenage students’ language learning process.

Denial of the Holocaust is a topic that is largely discussed and attracts public attention to this day. However, the language used when debating historical revisionism is oftentimes limited to the Jewish victims and survivors, while other groups, which were targeted during World War II, are regularly omitted from the discourse. The objective of this qualitative study is to establish what are the common patterns of two types of Holocaust denial – denial of the Jewish genocide and denial of the Roma genocide – and how these are treated by the international community. The findings of this research indicate that the deniers adhere to similar ideologies that result in questioning the existence of the Holocaust. The international community poses as an interesting case as the Roma genocide is not denied; however, its existence has been largely unacknowledged until a recent slight turn towards more equal treatment of survivors and victims in several countries.

In material cultural heritage documentation, the use of measurement methods, i.e. photogrammetry and laser scanning, is becoming more and more common. The increasing availability of hardware and software allows to create the photorealistic models of objects documenting the heritage and the state of its preservation. The virtual object model can carry information about the dimensions, shape, color and texture of the documented object and it can be the basis for the documentation of the archaeological site, architectural and construction inventory, architectural and conservation studies and monitoring the condition of the object. In the paper presented an overview of the most important measurement techniques and methods for acquiring spatial data used in the documentation of monuments, with particular reference to photogrammetric documentation generated on the basis of data obtained from photographs made with the use of UAV. The heritage documentation presented in the paper were created using the Agisoft Photoscan software. The use of geographic information systems in storing, analyzing and sharing information about monuments was also discussed.

The quality of marine fuels is standardised by the international standard ISO 8217. As practice shows, even fuels that meet all standard requirements do not completely guarantee avoiding disruptions in smooth and safe operation of the ship. The future is likely to bring more cases of improper operation of vessels, sometimes leading to main propulsion failures. One cause behind main engine breakdowns is the introduction of new products on the fuel market that are intended to meet the ever-increasing requirements of environmental protection (e.g. low sulphur content). As a result, some fuels are chemically different from the previously used residual fuels. Using them in the engine room requires special care on the part of the ship owner and the ship’s crew. The article analyses two cases in which the use of conventional residual fuels resulted in main engine stoppage. The authors, bearing in mind the causes of those failures, focus on technical consequences of using marine fuels produced by currently employed technologies.

Opis:
Universities are often considered to be safe sanctuaries. However, many higher education institutions have increasingly been confronted with crime and unrest. Violence and other crimes on campuses are currently an international concern. This paper reports on a study that investigated student’s perceptions of safety on two campuses namely Lahti University of Applied Sciences in Finland and the North-West University in Potchefstroom, South Africa. Theories from Environmental Psychology and Urban Planning are combined in this study in order to incorporate aspects of the individual, social setting and spatial environment. Increasing people’s safety help to optimise their experience of their environment and can in turn create an enabling context for people to flourish and improve their quality of life. The research followed a qualitative research approach. In this study, 21 participants from a Finnish university and 16 participants from a South African university were selected through purposive sampling. Data were generated through semi-structured interviews supported by visual data of the spatial environment. All data were transcribed verbatim and analysed through qualitative content analysis. The literature and findings of the research both support that the spatial and social environment influences safety. It is therefore recommended that safe campus environments require a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach to proactively develop a Comprehensive Safe Environment Plan (CSEP). From a planning perspective, students’ perceptions of campus environments’ safety may include the creation of compact dedicated campus areas, land uses, building placing and orientation, territoriality, landscaping, visibility, control over fear-inducing activities, maintenance, security measures and pedestrian orientated areas.
