Subjective security (security of a subject) is a state of a subject, his potential and abilities of adequate reaction to hazards as well as an issue of protecting a subject from any hazards. The first scientific analyses of security issue have been known for eighty years now, however, formally science on security as an academic subject was registered (in Poland) just in 2011, in a new distinguished area and field of social science. Science is an intentional activity of man aimed at exploring the world we live in. Scientific knowledge is based on searching constant relations between facts (colloquial knowledge restricts to occasional relations).

In the article Witkacego próba podmiotu – podmiot na próbę [Witkacy’s Attempt at a Subject– a Subject for a Test] the subjective identity of S.I. Witkiewicz is characterised by means of the widely understood category of a trial. This latter is interpreted from the view of theatrical aesthetics, but also philosophy, enables to show the biography and oeuvre of the artist from Zakopane as a continuous game between constructing and deconstructing of the subjective identity. The category of subjectivity becomes here a tool of revealing of the mechanisms, making it possible to remove boundaries between art and life, reality and fiction, literature and theory. Whereas in the interpretation proposed this attempt appears as a very literally understood experiencing of oneself, “putting oneself to the test”, but also as an attempt at literature (in the area of theory) and an attempt at theory (in the area of literature).

The purpose of this paper is to present the results of analyses of the methodological approaches which consider organization as an entity. The author discusses the limitations of such a procedure, but also presents arguments that confirm the thesis formulated in the title. In the conclusion of the paper, the author offers a critical discussion and a list of statements justifying the treatment of an organization as a subject.

The aim of the study was to determine the level of gastrointestinal parasites in a native breed of geese – Zatorska goose – based on coproscopic testing. Faecal samples were collected from 90 young geese in three age groups (5, 7 and 9 weeks old) in 2014. The geese were kept indoors on deep litter and pastured from spring to autumn. The area of the pastures around the buildings where the geese grazed was about 1 hectare, divided into quarters for different age groups. Before grazing, the birds were dewormed with fenbendazole (Fenbenat powder 4%, Naturan). As additional treatment for coccidiosis, coccidiostats were added to the feed. The study was conducted using the McMaster quantitative method with centrifugation (flotation liquid: NaCl and glucose). The birds were shown to be infected with coccidia and nematodes. The prevalence of Eimeria sp. infection (mean 40%) and the number of oocysts per gram of faeces (reaching 5,300 OPG) were highest in the youngest age group of geese. The level of Amidostomum anseris infection was similar in the three age groups, with prevalence from 40% to 50% (nematode egg output ranged from 50 to 350 eggs per gram of faeces, EPG). Capillaria anatis was observed only in 5- and 7-week-old geese.

One of the important reasons why the issue of freedom of conscience is one of the most controversial problems of modern times is the ongoing dispute over its definition. In the context of the contemporary emphasis on the moral autonomy of the person, the recent definitions of conscience as the “voice of God” sound at least ambiguous. It is therefore important to point out the various dimensions of conscience. The first and basic one is the individual dimension: conscience is defined as moral self-consciousness in its deepest, personal dimension. It can therefore, following E. Fromm, be described as the “guardian of moral integrity.” However, in addition to this, conscience also points out to “what is common” (J. Ratzinger), to the fundamental values that make social life possible. It is therefore also a carrier of moral truth. Finally, conscience touches upon the relationship with God and this is where its important religious dimension is expressed. It is only when each of these three dimensions of conscience is taken into account that the question of its freedom can be adequately considered. It concerns, above all, the relationship of an individual conscience to an external authority, both in social and ecclesiastical context.

Purpose: The aim of the study presented in the article is to show that polemology can be taught at higher education, in particular at Polish military academies. Due to the interdisciplinary approach to the issue of wars and armed conflicts, polemology treats the war as social phenomenon, and therefore does not focus only on military aspects. Design/methodology/approach: The aim of the article is to determine to what extent polemology as a subject of teaching corresponds to content in education programs in military and civil studies in War Studies University. The main research problem is as follows: how students evaluate the subject content of polemology and the validity of its conduct at bachelor and master studies. Findings: The results of empirical research also showed that polemology in its research should have a purposeful character. Such a belief leads to a dialogue in science, stimulation of creative imagination, the result of which may be: discovering original and currently important polemological problems; creating new interdisciplinary research projects; creating alternative practical solutions; setting directions of changes in science (creation of new fields and scientific disciplines). Originality/value: The presented research shows a general approach to practicing science – it should have an interdisciplinary character. There are many indications that currently practicing any scientific discipline requires companion knowledge in the field of other scientific disciplines.

In the modern world of mass information being reduced to colourful images, maps have the chance to become a medium that transmits important information in an attractive format. Due to time pressure, many cartographic publications that have a short life span on the internet contain a lot of methodological errors. Viewers receive an image that is hard to interpret, incomplete or even incorrect. The author aims to summarize and classify the cartographic content of social media, while bearing methodology, the role of the cartographer and users’ reactions to that content in mind. The springboard to online discussion is mainly a map topic. Their design or methodology is of little interest in most cases. This may be due to insufficient knowledge of how forms (their correctness and quality) shape messages. Hence the role of the cartographer is important, what can be seen – among methodological remarks – as one of conclusions. It seems that map-makers are becoming more expert, and are guiding map lovers and amateur cartographers towards creating good, effective and elegant maps.

The purpose of the study was to determine the optimal hearing aid fitting procedure for a patient with well diagnosed high-frequency dead regions in both cochleas. The patient reported non-symmetrical hearing problems of sensorineural origin. The presence and frequency limits of dead regions was measured using the Threshold Equalizing Noise test (TEN). For binaural amplification four pairs of hearing aids were used. Three pairs of hearing instruments used were independent pairs with similar hearing aids in each pair. One pair of hearing aids was a pair of dependent devices with an ear-to-ear function. Two fitting methods were used: DSLi/o and NAL-NL1 and four different strategies of fitting were tested: the initial fitting based on the DSLi/o or NAL-NL1 method with necessary loudness corrections, the second fitting taking into account all available functions of hearing instruments, the third fitting (based on the second one) but with significantly reduced amplification well above one octave of frequency inside dead region and the final fitting with significantly reduced gain slightly below one octave inside dead regions. The results of hearing aids fitting were assessed using the Abbreviated Profile of Hearing Aid Benefit procedure (APHAB).

Papież Franciszek opublikował adhortację apostolską Gaudete et exsultate o powołaniu do świętości w świecie współczesnym19 marca 2018 r. Na ten dokument można popatrzeć przez pryzmat pastoralnego rozeznania jako pewnego narzędzia stosowanego w teologii pastoralnej. Pastoralne rozeznanie możemy zdefiniować jako intelektualno-duchową i ontologiczno-egzystencjalną potrzebę Kościoła, który uruchamia i kontynuuje zbawcze dzieło ewangelizowania świata. Bez wątpienia świętość jest istotnym przedmiotem pastoralnego rozeznania. Na podstawie dokumentu można wykazać, że podpowiedziane przez papieża Franciszka cechy świętości są jednocześnie jej kryteriami właściwego pastoralnego rozeznania. Są nimi: znoszenie, cierpliwość i łagodność; radość i poczucie humoru; śmiałość i zapał; bycie we wspólnocie oraz trwanie w nieustannej modlitwie.
On 19.03.2018, Pope Francis published the apostolic exhortation with the Latin title Gaudete et exsultate on the call to holiness in today’s world. This document can be seen from the perspective of pastoral discernment as a certain tool used in pastoral theology. Pastoral discernment can be defi ned as intellectual – spiritual and ontological – existential need of the Church which initiates and continues the saving work of evangelization of the world. Without doubt, holiness is an essential subject of pastoral discernment. Based upon this document one can perceive that the characteristic features of the right pastoral discernment suggested by Pope Francis are at the same time its criteria. These are: tolerance, patience and gentleness, joy and sense of humour, courage and enthusiasm, being in community, and remaining in constant prayer.

Opis:
Congenital candidiasis is a severe complication of candidal vulvovaginitis. It occurs in two forms, congenital mucocutaneous candidiasis and congenital systemic candidiasis. Also newborns are in age group the most vulnerable to invasive candidiasis. Congenital candidiasis should be considered as an interdisciplinary problem including maternal and fetal condition (including antibiotic therapy during pregnancy), birth age and rare genetic predispositions as severe combined immunodeficiency or neutrophil-specific granule deficiency. Environmental factors are no less important to investigate in diagnosing, treatment and prevention. External factors (e.g., food) and microenvironment of human organism (microflora of the mouth, intestine and genitalia) are important for solving clinical problems connected to congenital candidiasis. Physician knowledge about microorganisms in a specific compartments of the microenvironment of human organism and in the course of defined disorders of homeostasis makes it easier to predict the course of the disease and allows the development of procedures that can be extremely helpful in individualized diagnostic and therapeutic process.

The article introduces a definition of agricultural real property based on various legal acts – before the adoption of the Civil Code, pursuant to Article 461 of the Civil Code and the Act on Shaping the Agricultural Regime; it also describes the criteria of establishing the property as being used for agricultural properties. It features the assessment of the legal character of a property being recorded in the cadaster as agricultural and establishing properties as agricultural in zoning acts and the Act on Zoning and Development. The article also tells the story of limitation of trading agricultural land in Poland, focusing largely on the most recent and very extreme limitation introduced by the Act on Ceasing the Sale of Property Owned by the State Treasury and amending certain other acts of 14 April 2016 and reviews the procedure and legal conditioning of obtaining a permit to sell agricultural property, granted by means of an administrative decision issued by the President of the Agricultural Property Agency and the potential consequences of its invalidity. The article provides a complex review of a wide range of issues related to the limitations on transactions involving agricultural real property.
Przedmiotem rozważań prezentowanych w artykule jest kształtowanie się normatywnej treści definicji pojęcia nieruchomości rolnej jako przedmiotu reglamentacji obrotu własnościowego. Analiza prowadzona jest na gruncie szeregu aktów prawnych na przestrzeni lat – przed uchwaleniem kodeksu cywilnego, zgodnie z treścią art. 461 Kodeksu cywilnego, na gruncie ustawy o kształtowaniu ustroju rolnego. Przedmiotem rozważań są także: kryteria uznawania nieruchomości za wykorzystywaną na cele produkcji rolnej, ocena prawnego charakteru wpisu klasyfikacji gruntów jako rolnych w ewidencji gruntów i budynków, określania gruntów jako rolnych w aktach planowania przestrzennego oraz na gruncie samej ustawy o planowaniu i zagospodarowaniu przestrzennym. Autor opisuje również historię reglamentacji obrotu ziemią rolną w Polsce, poświęcając dużo miejsca zmianom wprowadzonym ustawą z dnia 14 kwietnia 2016 r. o wstrzymaniu sprzedaży nieruchomości Zasobu Własności Rolnej Skarbu Państwa oraz o zmianie niektórych ustaw. Opracowanie obejmuje ponadto analizę podstaw materialnoprawnych i postępowania w sprawie wyrażania zgody na zbycie nieruchomości rolnej, udzielanej w drodze decyzji administracyjnej wydawanej przez Prezesa Agencji Nieruchomości Rolnych, oraz potencjalne konsekwencje jej wadliwości dla obrotu gruntami rolnymi. Zostały też opisane inne zagadnienia związane z ograniczeniami obrotem nieruchomościami rolnymi w Polsce.

The aim of this article is to clarify the meaning of the concept of recognition in Axel Honneth’s theory of recognition. The main object of interest will be the differences between, what Honneth calls the basic form of recognition and recognition which he describes as a relation. Presented considerations will become premises for such an interpretation of theory of recognition, which differentiates at least between two meanings of the term recognition: first, as a subjective attitude, second, as a relation (which is more adequate interpretation). The indicated differences might be important for in-depth analyses of the theory of recognition, especially considering Honneth’s point of view – more formal approach presented in The Struggle for Recognition, to his analyses of democratic ethical life in his latest book Das Recht Der Freicheit.

The paper attempts to answer the following question: Are sociology and sociologists interested in the youth? The question seems to be as trivial as the predicted answer – certainly yes. The existence of such a sociological subfield as sociology of youth and considerable literature resulting from general (theoretical) reflection and numerous studies may justify the answer. However, on the one hand this interest is periodical, its intensity increases when the youth becomes an active member or actor of social processes; and on the other hand, when it is relatively stable it refers to life ambitions of young people (educational and professional), lifestyles and cultural patterns typical for them. It results in the reports on the youth and their social condition published at different frequencies. Where does this interest come from? The paper is the attempt to answer this question. The author believes that it is not complete as it is restricted even by the framework of the article. He wants to attract the attention to the important, in the author’s opinion, reasons why it is worth occupying with the youth as the social phenomena. It is not a detailed analysis but rather indication of the problems the researchers come across when they deal with this group.
W artykule podjęte zostaną próby odpowiedzi na pytania: Czy młodzież interesuje socjologię i socjologów? Pytanie wydaje się banalne podobnie jak przewidywana odpowiedź – oczywiście tak. Jako uzasadnienie można przytoczyć istnienie socjologicznej subdyscypliny, jaką jest socjologia młodzieży i pokaźną literaturę będącą wynikiem refleksji ogólnej (teoretycznej) i wielu badań. Z tym jednak, że jest to zainteresowanie z jednej strony cykliczne, jego intensywność wzrasta, gdy młodzież staje się aktywnym uczestnikiem lub aktorem procesów społecznych, a z drugiej, tam gdzie ma ono względnie stały charakter, odnosi się do jej aspiracji życiowych (edukacyjnych i zawodowych), stylów życia i typowych dla niej wzorów kulturowych. Efektem tego są pojawiające się z różną częstotliwością raporty o młodzieży i jej kondycji społecznej. Skąd bierze się to zainteresowanie? Ten tekst jest próbą odpowiedzi na to pytanie. Nie sądzę, aby była ona kompletną, nie pozwalają na to choćby ramy artykułu. Chcę zwrócić jedynie uwagę na ważne w moim przekonaniu powody, dla których warto się zajmować młodzieżą jako społecznym fenomenem. Nie będzie to jednak ich szczegółowa analiza, ale raczej sygnalizacja problemów, na jakie natrafiają badacze zajmujący się tą zbiorowością.

At the Conference 'Multilingualism in the enlarged European Union' (Vienna 2001) several speakers prognosticated a consequent enrichment and modernization of the languages in the new member states and expected this process to follow the same or similar ways of adaptation. On the basis of these expectations this paper deals with a specific area of the EU lexicon, the so called Eurojargon, whose harmonization could be considered a special aim. The 'Plain language guide' to Eurojargon (http://europa.eu/abc/eurojargon/index_en.htm) contains 80 entries and is available in each official language of the EU, whereas the 'European Glossary' contains only the 'old' member languages (before enlargement in 2004). As opposed to the 'European Glossary' with its 200 terms, which is interactive, the 'Plain language guide' (with the exception of about 10 terms taken over from the glossary) is not and can therefore not be used as a bi- or multilingual dictionary. That is the reason why the author of this paper has compiled lists of equivalents, including English, French, German and the four Slavonic EU-languages (Polish, Czech, Slovak, Slovene). This paper is dealing with the mutuality and differences of the keywords (internationalisms, loans/calques, analytic denominations, abbreviations, metaphors) and briefly with the definitions of selected examples. In conclusion we can state that the prognosticated assimilation undoubtedly takes place on the level of concept formation (on the semantic level), but a formal internationalization is not dominant. The formation of equivalents is largely based on traditional patterns, including semantic change. Thus the Eurojargon can be regarded as an example of linguistic diversity in conceptual unity and is in no way dominated by English to such an extent as other domains of the modern lexicon.

Autorka artykułu wychodzi od rozważań na temat aksjologii i postaci literackiej. Omawia rolę postaci w otwieraniu nastolatków na rozważania aksjologiczne. Sygnalizuje też wybrane i niepublikowane dotąd rezultaty badań, które przeprowadziła wśród przyszłych nauczycieli. Odwołując się do opowiadań zamieszczonych w dwóch tomach Gorzkiej czekolady, uwagę poświęca Dziewczynie mistrza Katarzyny Ryrych – występującym w niej postaciom i ich znaczeniu dla rozbudzania namysłu uczniów nad ważnymi aksjologicznie sprawami. Całość zamykają refleksje nad edukacją aksjologiczną i wartością lekcyjnych spotkań z postaciami literackimi.
The starting point for the author’s reflections in the article is axiology and literary character. The author discusses the significance of literary character in the process of opening teenagers up to axiological considerations. She also draws on some hitherto unpublished results of research conducted among future teachers. While referencing stories from the two volumes of Dark Chocolate (Pol. Gorzka czekolada), the author pays particular attention to the story Master’s Girlfriend (Pol. Dziewczyna mistrza) by Katarzyna Ryrych – its protagonists and how they might stimulate the students to serious axiological ponderings. The article concludes with a handful of insights on the role of axiological education in the class, and the value of students’ encounters with a variety of literary characters.

The crisis begun in 2007 exposed the weakness of the existing regulations, revealing challenges for legislators all over the world. Financial stability started to be understood as an essential value for the proper operation of the financial market. It has become important to address the question as to how to protect financial markets from more crises, or at least alleviate their effects. The idea of supervision of a financial market has undergone thorough transformation. Particular emphasis has been placed on protecting buyers of financial services. Adequate customer protection has been recognized as a sign of trust in the market and its stability and has gained systemic importance and relevance for the European financial system. There is a growing tendency to enlarge the group of subjects eligible for special protection. it is becoming an increasingly common idea that not only consumers but all non-professional customers should be protected. The idea is becoming widespread that the weaker party to a legal transaction can be not only a consumer [natural person] but also a non-professional market entity. Such a solution is certainly appropriate. Narrowing down the ‘consumer’ to a natural person may seem artificial and out of line with market realities, not to mention the serious consequences of bad financial decisions taken by non- professional financial market participants. Another important challenge facing the modern financial market is to establish a system of institutional safeguards to ensure security for all market entities and to enforce fair play rules. However, even the best provisions of substantive law, though necessary, may prove to fall short. Therefore, there is a pressing need for strong and competent both state and international institutions duly equipped with auditing and supervisory powers to deal with the present situation. They should also have the possibility of enforcing substantive laws in a way that allows for flexible responses to any emerging threat to the protected values. The shift towards a regulatory and supervisory method of protection sets a more serious tone for the supervision model adopted for the financial market. In it, the market is responsible not only for ensuring that the supervised entities operate correctly, but also for the quality of services that they provide.

Computer games are an interactive form of entertainment that is popular with younger and younger players. Therefore researchers are actively seeking information on the consequences of pursuing this type of pastime. At the beginning, the researchers’ attention was focused mainly on the negative aspects of gaming. Nowadays, more and more benefits related to this activity are being indicated. In 2014, Granic, Lobel and Engels published an article on the benefits of playing computer games. The researchers focused on four areas: cognitive, motivational, emotional, and social. They wanted to inspire new research on mental health benefits of gaming by pointing to various research reports they selected. This paper aims to present the research directions explored in recent years by researchers who strive to describe the positive and negative consequences of gaming. I present the main directions and examples of research in these areas, highlighting the ambiguity of the current results. Problematic areas related to gaming include aggression and violence, addiction, weakening of social relations, experiencing undesirable emotions, sexualization, racial prejudice, and racial discrimination. The indicated opportunities and benefits are the strengthening of cognitive, motor, emotional, and social competences.

W pracy podjęto rozważania nad rozprawą doktorską w kontekście utworu w rozumieniu prawa autorskiego. Zwrócono uwagę, że ze względu na przedmiot, jak i cel, który przyświeca stworzeniu rozprawy doktorskiej, jest ona klasycznym utworem naukowym. Zauważono, że przedmiotowa praca może być ustalona w jednej z form wskazanych przez ustawodawcę (katalog zamknięty), a zatem w tym przypadku nie obowiązuje zasada ustalenia utworu w dowolnej formie. W pracy przeanalizowano udział promotora w przygotowaniu rozprawy doktorskiej, a także zasygnalizowano problem plagiatu oraz ghostwritingu. Ponadto wskazano, w czym przejawia się oryginalność (cecha indywidualności) rozprawy doktorskiej.
The article considers a doctoral dissertation to be a work in meaning of copyright law. It was noted that a dissertation is a typical example of a scientific work when taken under consideration both for its subject and for its purpose. It also was noted that a dissertation may take one of the forms allowed by the law (closed catalogue), so in this matter the rule that work can be determined in any form does not apply. The issues of a thesis supervisor’s role in working on a dissertation and being notified of such problems such as plagiarism and ghostwriting also were stressed, and it was also pointed out how the feature of individuality manifests itself in a dissertation.
