Due to speed-dependent centrifugal forces, the support of the torque, static mechanical stress introduced by manufacturing processes the laminated core of rotating electrical machines is exposed to considerable mechanical stress. The resulting stress distribution changes the magnetic properties of the electrical steel. To take this into account, a magnetization model is constituted on the basis of vector magneto-mechanical measurements that include the magnetic permeability as a function of the mechanical stress and the angle between magnetization - and the maximum principal stress direction. Subsequently, the model is integrated into the finite element simulation of a permanent magnet excited synchronous machine at different rotational speeds.

Artykuł zawiera tłumaczenie na język polski klasycznego tekstu konfucjańskiego pt. Xiao Jing oraz analizę wczesnego znaczenia pojęcia xiao, zwykle tłumaczonego na angielski jako „filial piety”, czyli „synowska nabożność” lub „posłuszeństwo synowskie”. Osoba, która nauczyła się słuchać i opiekować się rodzicami, jest w stanie rozszerzyć to uczucie na innych poza rodziną. To sprawia, że xiao jest korzeniem ren, oznaczajacego przykładne zachowania wobec wszystkich ludzi. Dlatego uczenie się, jak zachowywać się zgodnie z xiao, jest pierwszym etapem konfucjańskiego samodoskonalenia. Xiao Jing, tradycyjnie przypisywane uczniowi Konfucjusza — Zengzi, zapewnia krótki, ale ważny wgląd w jedną z podstawowych konfucjańskich koncepcji etycznych.
The paper contains translation of Confucian classical text Xiao Jing into Polish with analysis of early meaning of xiao, usually translated into English as a “filial piety.” Loving and caring for one parents while they are alive and offer sacrifices after their death is the core meaning of xiao. A person who learnt to obey and care for parents is able to extend that feeling to others outside the family. That makes xiao the root of ren — an exemplary behaviour towards all people. Hence learning how to behave in xiao way is first stage of Confucian self-developement. Traditionally ascribed to Confucius’ student Zengzi, Xiao Jing provides short but important insight into one of Confucian core ethical concepts.

A new insensitive and high energy explosive based on RDX was prepared by suspension spray technology using Estane 5703 as a binder (e-RDX). Scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the morphology and particle size of the samples. The composite was analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Its impact sensitivity and detonation velocity were determined. For comparison, raw RDX, refined RDX (r-RDX) and solution spray dried RDX/Estane 5703 (e1-RDX) were also tested using these five methods. The SEM results showed that the e-RDX size was 1-3 μm. e1-RDX exhibited a spherical shape with some defects on the surface. The XPS results indicated that Estane 5703 can be successfully coated onto the surface of e-RDX. Compared to raw RDX, the drop height of r-RDX, e1-RDX and e-RDX was increased, being 16.5 cm, 32.9 cm and 58.4 cm, respectively. The activation energy of e-RDX is lower than that of raw RDX, but a little higher than that of e1-RDX. Compared to raw RDX, the detonation velocity of r-RDX, e1-RDX, w-RDX and e-RDX had decreased, being 110 m·s–1, 710 m·s–1, 410 m·s–1 and 210 m·s–1, respectively.

In this paper, we reveal the transmission properties of the M-type combined solitary wave in birefringent fiber with third-order dispersion, self-frequency shift, self-steepening, fifth-order nonlinearity and the gain (loss) effects. The numerical simulations show that the M-type solitary wave can be stably transmitted through 300 dispersion lengths via balancing the variety of effects. And it can even be stably transmitted under the condition of limited interference under a small perturbation of noise, amplitude and phase position. The results can provide certain references for there search of optical soliton communication and optical devices.

We introduce the concept of a hyper BCI-algebra which is a generalization of a BCI-algebra, and investigate some related properties. Moreover we introduce a hyper BCI-ideal, weak hyper BCI-ideal, strong hyper BCI-ideal and reflexive hyper BCI-ideal in hyper BCI-algebras, and give some relations among these hyper BCI-ideals. Finally we discuss the relations between hyper BCI-algebras and hyper groups, and between hyper BCI-algebras and hyper $H_{v}$-groups.

In this study, a polarization selective beam splitter constructed by only a single layer subwavelength multisubpart profile grating is presented. Rigorous coupled-wave analysis is adopted to investigate the properties of the structure. It is shown that for a transverse electric polarized wave, the device demonstrates very high reflectivity (>97%) from 1.46 to 1.58 μm; and for a transverse magnetic polarized wave, at the wavelength of 1.55 μm, it exhibits about 50/50 beam ratio under normal incidence. To evaluate the response of the polarizing beam splitters under variation in structure parameters, we also investigated the fabrication tolerances of the device.

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was conducted for a DNB (1,3-dinitrobenzene) crystal, a ε-CL-20 (2,4,6,8,10,12-hexanitro-2,4,6,8,10,12-hexaazaisowurtzitane) crystal, a CL-20/DNB co-crystal and a CL-20/DNB composite. From the calculated maximum bond length (Lmax) of the N−NO2 trigger bond, the cohesive energy density (CED) and the binding energy (Ebind), it was found that the CL-20/DNB co-crystal is more insensitive than its composite. Its thermal stability is also better than that of its composite. The pair correlation function (PCF) analysis method was applied to investigate the interfaces between different molecular layers in the CL-20/DNB co-crystal, and in the composite. Additionally, the calculated mechanical data showed that the moduli of the CL-20/DNB co-crystal and its composite are smaller and their elastic elongation and ductility are better than those of the ε-CL-20 and DNB crystals.

The structural and elastic properties of NbN₂ at high pressures were investigated through the first-principles calculation. Results indicate that NbN₂ is a potential hard material. NbN₂ meets mechanical stability criteria and possesses ductility within the pressure of 100 GPa. The elastic anisotropy under high pressure was achieved by the elastic anisotropy factors, which reduce with increasing pressure. Using the quasi-harmonic Debye model, we also investigated the thermodynamic properties of NbN₂.

Using the spin-polarized relativistic Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method, we study the electronic and magnetic properties of Fe₂NiAs compound with the Hg₂CuTi structure. Electronic calculations reveal the d-d orbital hybridization taking an important role in the compound. The calculated magnetic moments, which contain the spin and orbital moments, are primarily carried by Fe atoms located in A and B sites. The orbital moment of Fe₂NiAs system is rather small due to the cause of orbital quenching, implying a weak spin-orbit coupling. Simultaneously, we also study the influence of lattice constant on the magnetic moment, it is found that both spin and orbital moments are sensitive to the changes of lattice constants, i.e., the moments become larger as the expansion of lattice constant, indicating the enhancement of spin-orbit coupling effect. In addition, we investigate the magnetic interactions between the constituents to obtain the Heisenberg exchange coupling parameters. It is noted that the interactions are dominated by a strong exchange between Fe atoms. Finally, we acquire the Curie temperatures of Fe₂NiAs compound under different lattice constants by using mean field approximation.

This paper synthesizes cross-sectional studies of the effect of proficiency on second language (L2) pragmatics to answer the synthesis question: Does proficiency affect adult learners’ pragmatic competence? Findings have revealed an overall positive proficiency effect on pragmatic competence, and in most cases higher proficiency learners have higher pragmatic competence. However, increased proficiency does not guarantee a native-like pragmatic performance because proficiency effect varies depending on the nature of target pragmatic features such as types of speech acts (degrees of directness and conventionality) (e.g., Cook & Liddicoat, 2002; Félix-Brasdefer, 2007), modalities of pragmatic performance (comprehension and production) (e.g., Bradovi-Harlig, 2008, 2009), social variables involved in task situations, such as social status (e.g., Allami & Naeimi, 2011), social distance (e.g., Maeshiba, Yoshinaga, Kasper, & Ross, 1996), and power relationship (e.g., Al-Gahtani & Roever, 2012). Moreover, proficiency effect is mediated by contextual variables such as length of stay in the target language community (e.g., Shardakova, 2005; Taguchi, 2011, 2013; Xu, Case, & Wang, 2009).

Tunnel lay-by spacing is directly related to traffic safety and engineering investment. Nevertheless, its mechanism is not clear, and the rationality of the exiting norms with respect to tunnel lay-by spacing needs to demonstrate. A calculation model for tunnel lay-by spacing was derived by considering the headway and the physical kinematics of the two vehicles chasing and encountering. With it, the influence of various parameters on lay-by spacing were analysed and the rationality of the model were discussed through comparing with existing norms. Results shows longitudinal gradient rate, daily average traffic flow, rolling resistance coefficient, posted speed limit are significant to determine the lay-by spacing, and the most important parameter is longitudinal gradient rate. Existing tunnel lay-by spacing norm values are not reasonable enough, either too strict or too loose. These findings provide scientific support for how to select tunnel lay-by spacing value, which can improve tunnel traffic safety and make engineering investment reasonable.

Inflammation plays an important role in the development of many obesity-related diseases. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ezetimibe on inflammation and myocardial remodeling in obese rats. A rat model of obesity was established, and myocardial damage was examined by transmission electron microscopy and Masson staining. Twenty obese rats were divided into two groups (n=10): obese group and ezetimibe group. Ten SD rats were used as controls. Western blot was performed to monitor the expression of P-p38MAPK and interleukin (IL)-6. Immunohistochemical staining was used to monitor the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1. In the obese rats group, we observed increased inflammatory factors and myocardial hypertrophy. In contrast, the ezetimibe group exhibited decreased expression of inflammatory factors and an improvement in myocardial remodeling compared to the obese group. Mechanistically, we found that ezetimibe decreased P-p38MAPK, IL-6, intercellular adhesion molecule-1, and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 levels in the hearts of the obese rats. Taken together, these results indicate that ezetimibe may improve myocardial remodeling in obese rats by inhibiting inflammation.
