The field of analysis presented in the article are the findings of an analysis of cognitive image of Silesia and Silesian in context of two categories. It allowed to point out specific patterns signifying about strong image position of Silesia and its inhabitants autonomously of political and ideological approaches of communication recipients.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawiono sterownik diod LED o konfigurowalnej liczbie kanałów, służący do zasilania sześciu diod małej mocy. Prąd diod może być ustawiany cyfrowo z krokiem 0,5 mA w zakresie od 0 do 32 mA. Do sterowania prądem w poszczególnych kanałach wykorzystano magistralę szeregową I2C. Dzięki zastosowaniu mikrokontrolera, możliwe jest zaprogramowanie różnych efektów świetlnych, zarówno statycznych jak i dynamicznych. W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki badań eksperymentalnych.
The 6-channel LED controller equipped with a high efficiency fractional charge pump is presented in the article. Each channel has got a programmable dimming current. To ensure uniform brightness in any application, each LED channel delivers an accurate regulated current from the range from 0 to 32 mA. The LED channels are configured into three independent pairs, each containing two matched channels. Each pair can be separately programmed in 0,5 mA steps, using the I2C serial bus. Thanks to the additional microcontroller with EEPROM memory, many different light scenes can be stored and used in a desired circumstance. Some of the laboratory results are presented as well.

he authors present the case of a 17-year-old boy who suffered a cervical spinal injury as a result of the sharp bending of the head after slipping (without falling). After about 30 minutes, he began to feel tingling in the limbs and he developed tetraparesis. He went through physical rehabili-tation, psychological rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and periodic catheterization. Additionally, we introduced to him a low dose of analog granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). G-CSF 5 μg/kg was given subcutaneously daily for 5 days per month for 3 months, again after 6 months, and again after 10 months. The boy could sit indecently and walk with assistance. A significant increase in muscle strength in this patient with tetraplegia after 10 months of treatment may indicate beneficial effects of G-CSF in this disorder.

Opis:
The paper presents a temperature monitoring system of a bidirectional DC / AC / DC converter. The system allows for remote monitoring of two temperatures (the number can be increased if necessary). The monitoring console is available on any mobile or stationary device connected to the local Wi-Fi network or to the Internet (if it has a static IP). By implementing the remote monitoring, important temperatures of working converter can be monitored from any place with the Internet access. The presented solution may be used in laboratories developing new topologies of power converters that should be monitored for a long time before practical implementation.
W artykule przedstawiono system zdalnego monitorowania temperatur półprzewodnikowych przyrządów mocy w przekształtniku DC / AC / DC. Prezentowany system pozwala na monitorowanie dwóch temperatur, jednak liczbę czujników oraz aktuatorów można znacznie rozszerzyć w razie potrzeby. Aktualnie monitorowane są dwie temperatury radiatorów górnego i dolnego mostka przekształtnika DC /AC /DC. Proponowane rozwiązanie bazuje na cyfrowych czujnikach temperatury DS18B20. Są one podłączone poprzez magistralę 1-Wire z jednopłytkowym mikrokomputerem Raspberry Pi w wersji 3. Interfejs 1-Wire oraz interfejs użytkownika umożliwiający monitorowanie temperatur zostały zaprojektowane w środowisku Node-RED. Konsola użytkownika jest dostępna na każdym urządzeniu podłączonym do lokalnej sieci Wi-Fi. Jeśli zastosowane Raspberry Pi posiada stały adres IP dostęp do konsoli jest możliwy z sieci Internet. Proponowane rozwiązanie może być przydatne przy projektowaniu i badaniu nowych konfiguracji i topologii pracy przekształtników energoelektronicznych, które powinny być testowane przez długi czas w laboratorium zanim znajdą zastosowanie komercyjne. System umożliwia przesyłanie sygnałów do przekształtnika czyli zdalne ustawienia.

Purpose: We assessed the quality of life of children with motor disabilities in comparison with healthy children, as evaluated by their parents, using the CHQ-PF28 questionnaire (Child Health Questionnaire—Parent Form). Materials and methods: In a prospective study, we evaluated the quality of life of 105 children with motor disabilities. Results: Our research showed lower quality of life in the group of children with motor disabilities compared with controls, both in terms of physical and psychosocial health. Significant correlations between independent walking and physical functioning, general behavior, and mental health of children suffering from motor disabilities were found. According to the average indices of quality of life of children suffering from motor disabilities, depending on sex, the greatest differences occurred in behavior and change of health status, while the smallest differences in self-esteem and parental involvement, compared with controls. In the case of healthy children, the largest differences appeared in the perception of pain, behavior, and self-esteem; whereas, the smallest variations occurred in the change of health status and physical activity. Conclusion: Children suffering from motor disabilities demonstrate lower quality of life compared with healthy children.

Исследовали восточно-фризские овцематки молочного типа и их женское потомство F₁ после польских мериносовых баранов и вельскопольской овцы. Восточно-фризские овцематки достигали очень высокого уровня шерстной продуктивности и высокой массы тела, а их репродуктивность была выше, чем у овец этой породы содержимых в условиях стадного разведения. Овцы-помеси, особенно после велькопольских баранов, характеризовались высоким уровнем продукции чистого волокна, высоким весом тела и удовлетворительной оплодотворимостью. Сравнение продуктивности одной и другой группы неселекционированных помесей с отвечающими им (отцовская порода) овцематками польского мериноса и велькопольской овцы указывает на пригодность этих животных к выгеьению синтетической оплотворительно-щерстистой линии овец.
East-Friesian ewes of the meat-type sheep and their feminine F₁ progeny after the Polish Merino rams and Wielkopolska ewes were tested.The experimental material constituted Polish Merino and Wielkopolska ewes. The East-Friesian ewes reached a very high level of the wool performance and a high body weight and their reproductive utilization was higher than in sheep of the same breed maintained irder flock rearing conditions. Crosses, particularly after Wielkopolska rams, distinguished themselves with a high pure fibre production level, high body weight and satisfactory fecundity. The comparison of the productivity of that and other group of nonselectioned crosses with Polish Merino ewes (paternal breed) and Wielkopolska ewes proved a suitability of these animals for breeding a synthetic reproduction and wool performance line of sheep.

Opis:
Purpose of this work is to introduce results of biological objects measurements with Optical Coherence Tomography system working with swept source laser (OFDI system). This specified source with spectrum centred around 1040 nm is dedicated to measure posterior segment of the eye. OCT with this wavelength is expected to be next generation for this sort of systems. Although commonly used 800 nm source enables imaging retina, deeper tissue layers are not available with this wavelength. Longer wavelengths in range of infrared spectrum (e.g. 1040 nm) are being weakly scattered which enables to go down to the choroid layer [1]. Examination this structure composed mostly from blood vessels might be very important for early diagnosis of eye diseases. In this paper system setup, swept source scheme and eye images would be introduced.

C’était une deuxième traduction allemande; la première fut faite en 1844 par Konstantin Wurzbach, historien et poète autrichien. En 1848, au nom de la délégation venue de Galicie pour présenter ses postulats à l’empereur, Malisz prononça, à la gare de Vienne, un discours qui fut un appel invitant à la fraternisation entre peuples, appel qui fut exprimé avec les paroles de l'Ode à la Jeunesse qu’il avait traduite lui même en allemand.

We examined the safety and effectiveness of a low dose of analog granulocyte-colony stimulating factor in a 15-year-old boy with facioscapulohumeral dystrophy. The onset of disease was noted at 12 years of age. The physical examination noted general muscle atrophy more pronounced at left side of the body. He was able to walk 300 meters within 6 minute walk test. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor 5 μg/kg was given subcutaneously daily for 5 days/month for 1, 2, 3, 6 and 12 months. Clinical examination, laboratory tests including blood, biochemical tests, and CD34+ cells were performed. A significant increase of muscle strength in the lower and upper limbs between baseline, and after 3 months of treatment, after 6, and after 12 months was found. He was able to walk 480 meters within 6 minutes after 12 months. Electromyography demonstrated increase of amplitude in the examined in upper and lower limbs after six months compared to baseline. Leukocyte levels remained below 25000/μL. CD34+ increased significantly at day 5 of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor admini-stration. It was safe and well tolerated by the patient. A significant increase in muscle strength in this patient with facioscapulohumeral dystrophy after 3 months of treatment, after 6, and after 12 months since the first treatment course was completed may indicate beneficial effects of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor in this disorder.

This contribution presents an application of frequency-domain optical tomography to ophthalmology. Essential theoretical foundations of time-domain and frequency-domain optical tomography are presented. Images of sections through the anterior chamber, the corneo-scleral angle and fundus of the eye are reconstructed from the spectral fringes. The morphological information gained by tomograms is important for diagnosing and planning of a treatment of glaucoma.

Introduction: Recent reports have revealed that neuroinflammation and apoptosis in brains affected by cerebral palsy could be therapeutic targets. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) exerts anti-inflammatory and antiapoptosis effects and stimulates the proliferation of neural stem and progenitor cells in the brain. Purpose: To assess the efficacy and safety of G-CSF treatment in children and adolescents with CP. Materials and methods: Six patients with spastic tetraplegia CP aged 3-15 years were enrolled in this study. Five patients had GMFCS (Gross Motor Function Classification System) level at V, three children had epilepsy, and three had severe mental retardation. We used the gross motor function measure-66 (GMFM-66) to assess motor function.GCSF (5μg/kg/body/day) was administered subcutaneously for five consecutive days during the four months. The parents also evaluated the physical and mental development of their children. Results: We observed improvement in motor function in patients with CP on the GMFM-66 scale. Parents reported improvement in behavior, speech development, and a decrease in spasticity in children with CP. G-CSF therapy was well-tolerated. No side effects were observed during the study. Conclusions: Our preliminary report suggests that G-CSF treatment improves motor and mental function in patients with CP. Further studies are needed to confirm these observations
