More than a year after the Russian aggression against Ukraine, a little can already be said about Turkey‘s attitude and the consequences of the conflict for Ankara. Turkey is balancing between Moscow and Kiev, trying to gain ground as a mediator, but also looking after its interests, especially economic ones. The text aims to analyse Turkish-Russian and Turkish-Ukrainian relations, especially since the outbreak of the war, and to answer the question of what the possible consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war are for Turkey, whether it will be the big winner or rather the big loser of the situation.

It is one of the oldest and most effective methods of working with a student – a method which builds upon the growing relationship between the teacher and the student, often called the master‒student method or simply tutoring – and yet, it is still not common in Polish universities.One may say that from the view of the general public this method is considered elitist, because for various reasons it has been understood that only a small group of selected students can be taught this way, and only a few can use this method. Hence, in order to make certain how it is actually understood, a survey was prepared and presented to two groups of people: a group of students and graduates of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Wrocław, and a group of 125 employees of the University of Wrocław who worked as tutors in the past. It remains to be hoped that tutoring will be introduced into the education system in Poland not only in higher education – as has already begun to happen – but also on a larger scale in secondary and primary education. Regardless of how tutoring is actually perceived fortunately it is becoming an increasingly popular teaching method in Poland.

Artykuł jest próbą zaprezentowania propozycji modeli kampanii wyborczej – prezydenckiego i parlamentarnego. W języku publicystycznym, a nawet naukowym często używa się terminów „marketing prezydencki” czy „marketing parlamentarny”, ale w zasobach książkowych i w artykułach naukowych wyraźnie brakuje szerszego namysłu teoretycznego nad tymi kategoriami. Niniejszy tekst w żadnym miejscu nie aspiruje do tego, aby stworzyć jedyną i powszechnie obowiązującą koncepcję. Zamierzeniem autora jest ukazanie własnej propozycji i poddanie jej naukowej dyskusji. Punkt wyjścia do zbudowania niniejszej propozycji stanowiły najbardziej powszechne w światowej literaturze koncepcje („kandydata w kampanii wyborczej”, „wszechstronnego marketingu politycznego”, „ewolucji kampanii wyborczych” oraz „koncepcja  współczesnych modeli kampanii wyborczych”), ale bazowano przede wszystkim na propozycji Marka Jezińskiego, który kilkanaście lat temu przedstawił modelowe ujęcia kampanii prezydenckiej, parlamentarnej i samorządowej. Dychotomię „model prezydencki” – „model parlamentarny” oparto na następujących kryteriach: (1) uwarunkowania ustrojowe, (2) cele wyborów i sposoby wyłaniania zwycięzców (3) nominacje kandydatów, (4) główny produkt kampanii, (5) strategia wyborcza oraz (6) relacjonowanie kampanii przez środki społecznego przekazu. 
The article is an attempt to present proposals for two election campaign models – presidential and parliamentary. In the journalistic and political science language, the terms ‘presidential marketing’ and ‘parliamentary marketing’ are frequently used, but literature and scientific articles lack wider theoretical reflection on these categories. This text in no place aspires to create the only and universally applicable concept. The author’s intention is to present his own proposal and subject it to scientific discussion. The starting point for building this proposal were the most common concepts in the world literature (‘candidate in the election campaign’, ‘comprehensive political marketing’, ‘evolution of election campaigns’ and ‘concept of contemporary election campaign models’), but mainly based on the proposal of  Marek Jeziński, who over dozen years ago presented models shots of the presidential, parliamentary and self-governmental campaign. The “presidential model” dichotomy – the “parliamentary model” is based on the following criteria: (1) political system conditions, (2) election aim and winner issue (3) nominations of candidates, (4) main campaign product, (5) electoral strategy and (6) the presentation of the campaign in mass media.

Rozważania zawarte w artykule koncentrują się na zestawieniu dwu wariantów utworu Advent, wykonanego pierwotnie przez grupę Dead Can Dance, a odtworzonego kilkanaście lat później w nowym wymiarze tekstowym przez zespół Armia. Owo zestawienie uwzględnia poszerzone tło kontekstowe, odwołujące się do genealogii obydwu formacji, intertekstualnej i intermedialnej specyfiki ich twórczości oraz eksponujące horyzont aksjologiczny urzeczywistniony w tytułach i tekstach utworów.
The article compares two variants of the song Advent, originally performed by the group Dead Can Dance, and then reproduced several years later in a new text dimension by the polish band Armia. This comparison takes into account the expanded contextual background, referring to the genealogies of both formations, intertextual/intermedia specificity of their works and exposing the axiological horizon realized in the titles and texts of the tracks.

Przykład ten jest najważniejszą częścią analizy, gdyż ilustruje proces utożsamiania się z rolami archetypowymi wojownika i zwycięzcy i pokazuje ich praktyczne zastosowania w wydarzających się realnie sytuacjach. Poza tym autor, odwołując się do bogatej literatury przedmiotu z zakresu antropologii kulturowej, psychologii i pedagogiki oraz do koncepcji analizy transakcyjnej, próbuje ukazać wspomniane wzorce archetypowe w szerszym kontekście kulturowym, społecznym i wychowawczym.
In the present article, the author attempts to describe the role of the Warrior and the Winner as archetype models within the context of educational activity. He carries out an in-depth analysis of Ken Carter’s (a teacher and trainer) behaviours, emotions and actions, which accompanied him during many years of work with high school students of Richmond High School in California. This example is the most important part of the analysis as it illustrates the process of identifying with the archetypal roles of the Warrior and the Winner and demonstrates their practical applications in real-life situations. Moreover, the author attempts to show these archetypal models in a broader cultural, social and educational context, referring to rich literature of the subject in the field of cultural anthropology, psychology and pedagogy, as well as to the transactional analysis concept.

Opis:
Many real-world marketplaces involve some additional constraints to be addressed during the market clearing process. This is the case of various infrastructure sectors of the economy, where market commodities are associated with some elements of the infrastructure, e.g., elements of telecommunication, power transmission or transportation network. Transactions are allowed only if the infrastructure, modeled as a flow network, is able to serve them. Determination of the best offers is possible by solving the optimization problem, so called the Winner Determination Problem (WDP). We consider a new subclass of the WDP, i.e., the Network Winner Determination Problem (NWDP). We characterize different poblems in the NWDP class and analyze their computational complexity. The sharp edge of tractability for NWDP-derived problems is generally designated by integer offers. However, we show that some specific settings of the problem can still be solved in polytime. We also presents ome exemplary applications of NWDP in telecommunication bandwidth market and electrical energy balancing market.

Opis:
Evil wins by good, darkness by light and profanum by sacrum in every tradition. The saints, and between them St Demetrius of Thessaloniki too, achieves an analogous victory. St Demetrius was a deacon, but he is most often presented as a soldier for example in art. The legend says that St Demetrius defeated the scorpion (the personification of evil) by the sign of the cross in prison. This saint can also win with the gladiator Lieus, emperor Maximian, tsar Kaloyan or the Turk instead of the scorpion, and he does it on horseback or on foot, with a weapon or by the calcatio gesture. Not only are there historical sources, liturgical texts or belles-lettres presenting St Demetrius, but also art as well as folklore.
W każdej tradycji zło jest zwyciężane przed dobro, ciemność przez światłość, profanum przez sacrum. Analogiczne zwycięstwo odnoszą święci, a wśród nich św. Demetriusz z Tesaloniki. Mimo iż był diakonem, w sztuce najczęściej przedstawiany jest jako żołnierz. Legenda mówi, że w więzieniu pokonał znakiem krzyża skorpiona personifikującego zło. Zamiast skorpiona może także zwyciężać gladiatora Lieusa, cesarza Maksymiana, cara Kałojana lub Turka, a czyni to konno lub pieszo, za pomocą oręża lub poprzez gest calcatio. Nie tylko mówią o św. Demetriuszu źródła historyczne, teksty liturgiczne czy literatura piękna, ale także sztuka i folklor.

The preserved letters of Wladyslaw Stanislaw Reymont reveal a broad spectrum of the sender’s epistolary attitudes, related not only to the artistic activity of the Nobel Prize winner, but also to his social functions. The article demonstrates the correspondence of Reymont in terms of showing antinomic attitudes and the diversity that shapes them. The author focuses on the ways of constructing postal statements and the possibilities they create in the interpretation.

Przemoc szkolna jest jednym z najbardziej niepokojących zjawisk, nie tylko z punktu widzenie celów i funkcji szkoły, ale także w szerszym wymiarze życia społecznego oraz losów jednostek. Szkoła zamiast być miejscem bezpiecznym i spokojnym stanowi przestrzeń opresji i niepokoju. Przemoc na terenie szkoły jest złożoną, wieloaspektową i trudną kwestią o charakterze społecznym, psychologicznym i pedagogicznym, jak również stanowi problem moralny i aksjologiczny. Artykuł przedstawia autorski model przemocy szkolnej, z którą powinni się uporać uczniowie, nauczyciele i rodzice, a także ich transakcyjne stany ego. Model ten oparty jest na jednej z mniej znanych koncepcji psychoterapeutycznych, jaką jest analiza transakcyjna (AT). Przemoc szkolna rozgrywa się w trójkącie dramatycznym następujących ról psychologicznych: ofiara, ratownik (wybawca), prześladowca (według Stephena B. Karpmana). Wszystkie te czynniki tworzą sześcian wzajemnie uwarunkowanych zależności. Zapobieganie i zwalczanie przemocy w szkole powinno być prowadzone zgodnie ze wzorem trójkąta zwycięzcy i naprzemiennymi psychologicznymi rolami bycia: asertywnym, troskliwym i wrażliwym (według Acey Choy).
School violence is one of the most disturbing phenomena, not only from the point of view of the goals and functions of a school, but also in the wider dimension of social life and the fate of individuals. Schools, instead of being safe and peaceful places, are a space of oppression and anxiety. Violence on school grounds is an extremely complex, multi-faceted and difficult issue of a social, psychological and pedagogical nature, as well as a moral and axiological problem. The paper presents an authorial model of school violence, which should be dealt with by students, teachers and parents, as well as their transactional ego states. This model is based on one of the lesser known psychotherapeutic concepts of transactional analysis (TA). School violence takes place within the Drama Triangle of the following psychological roles: Victim, Rescuer, Persecutor (Stephen B.Karpman). All these factors create a cube of mutually conditioned dependencies. Preventing and dealing with school violence should be conducted in accordance with the model of the Winner’s Triangle and alternating psychological roles of being: Assertive, Caring and Vulnerable (Acey Choy).

Rok 2017 jest czasem wielu rocznic związanych z Marią Skłodowską-Curie i jej dokonaniami. 150 rocznica urodzin uczonej, 120 rocznica urodzin Ireny Joliot-Curie, 10 rocznica śmierci Ewy Curie Labouisse i 85 rocznica otwarcia Instytutu Radowego w Warszawie to przyczynek do wielu wydarzeń i artykułów na temat życia, odkryć i osiągnięć Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie. Historia badań nad promieniotwórczością, pierwiastkami promieniotwórczymi, to historia fizyki jądrowej, chemii radiacyjnej i onkologii. Oczywiście Maria i Piotr Curie nie byli jedynymi uczonymi zajmującymi się tymi dziedzinami, ale niewątpliwie to właśnie oni, a właściwie Maria Skłodowska-Curie była inicjatorką tak nowoczesnego myślenia o atomie. To dzięki jej uporowi, odwadze w stawianiu pytań i wydawałoby się niemożliwych do udowodnienia hipotez, nauka zawdzięcza nowe metody badawcze i pierwiastki promieniotwórcze. To jej kompleksowe myślenie o badaniach naukowych i medycynie dało początek nowoczesnym metodom leczenia nowotworów, powstanie dwóch bliźniaczych placówek onkologicznych- Instytutów Radowych w Paryżu i w Warszawie otworzyło drogę do budowy całej sieci onkologicznej i kompleksowego leczenia pacjentów.
Year 2017 is a year of many anniversaries connected with Maria Skłodowska-Curie and her achievements. The 150th anniversary of the birth of Maria Skłodowska-Curie, the 120th anniversary of the birth of Irena Joliot-Curie’s, the 10th anniversary of Eve Curie Labouisse’s death and the 85th anniversary of the opening of the Radium Institute in Warsaw represent a contribution to many events and articles on Maria Skłodowska-Curie’s life, discoveries and accomplishments. The history of research on radioactivity and radioactive elements is the history of nuclear physics, radiation chemistry and oncology. Obviously, Maria and Piotr Curie were not the only scientists involved in these fields, but undoubtedly they, or Maria Skłodowska-Curie actually, who initiated such modern thinking about the atom. It is thanks to her persistence and courage to ask questions, as well as her perseverance in proving hypotheses that had been almost impossible to prove, the science owes new research methods and radioactive elements. It is Maria Curie’s comprehensive thinking about the research and medicine that has given rise to modern methods of cancer treatment, the establishment of two twin oncology centres: the Radium Institute in Paris and in Warsaw. These have opened the way to building the entire oncology network and comprehensive patient treatment.

This paper is an introduction to the concept and methodology of Value at Risk as a new tool for measuring exposure to the so-called winner’s curse risk. This expression was first used in the work of [Capen, Clapp, Campbell 1971] related to the oil companies, and it is usually introduced by the elementary example of the auctioning of a sealed jar with coins. The bidders cannot exactly know the value of the jar, they can just estimate it by looking at it from a distance. Usually the winner is the bidder who overestimates the value of jar the most, but actually he/she loses because of paying more than he/she receives in the jar. The same happens in insurance aggregators, but here the lowest price wins (we have then the so-called reversed auction). Traditionally, insurance companies have tried to offer insurance prices at the level of the expected value of the future costs (including all operational costs and expected profit) but now the winning company very likely is not getting enough premium to cover the assumed risk. In the case bankrupcy, this compnay will have to then face so-called winner’s curse. In this paper we analyse a few numerical examples

Opis:
We consider the allocation of a finite number of homogeneous divisible items among three players. Under the assumption that each player assigns a positive value to every item, we develop a simple algorithm that returns a Pareto optimal and equitable allocation. This is based on the tight relationship between two geometric objects of fair division: The Individual Pieces Set (IPS) and the Radon–Nykodim Set (RNS). The algorithm can be considered as an extension of the Adjusted Winner procedure by Brams and Taylor to the three-player case, without the guarantee of envy-freeness.

In this work, the potentials of adhesives production from cassava starch were investigated. An adhesive product produced from Manihot utilissima was compared with a commercially available adhesive. Improvements in the properties of the cassava-based adhesive were achieved by investigating the effects of temperature and the addition of a viscosity enhancer/stabilizer (borax) on the density of the produced adhesive. The results obtained provide a wide range of insight into the production potentials of using cassava starch as a raw material in the production of large scale adhesives.
