fibrohistiocytoma
Opis:
Introduction. Malignant fibrohistiocytoma is one of the rare neoplasms of the larynx. It has nonepithelial origin. The most common sites of the neoplasm are: limbs, trunk and retroperitoneal space. Other localizations within head and neck are very rare. There are 5 histologic types. The most common is pleomorphic type. It is built of histiocytes, fibroblasts and multinuclear giant cells. An examination of the neoplasms consists of microscopic and immunohistologic examination with identification specific tissue markers and intermediate filaments of proteins. Treatment methods of the neoplasms are radical surgery, radiotherapy, chemiotherapy and associate methods of therapy. Prognosis is very bad. Material and methodic. We present 71 years old man with croak for four mounths. The tumor of the larynx was examined in laryngoscopy. Biopsy of the tumor confirmed malignant fibrohistiocytoma. Laser surgery (chordectomy) was used to treatment this tumor without radiotherapy. Results. One year observation of the patient didn’t show recurrence of neoplasm, but he had only croak. Conclusions. Malignant fibrohistiocytoma of the larynx doesn’t differ from other malignant neoplasms of the larynx. Malignant fibrohistiocytoma of the larynx is very rare malignant neoplasms of the larynx.

Opis:
The aim of our study was to analyze medical records from years 2006-2011 of all patients exposed to animals and consulted at the Dispensary of Rabies Prophylaxis in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Medical University of Lublin in Eastern Poland. During the studied 6-year period, 1,504 persons exposed to animals were consulted, and prophylactic procedure consisted of active immunization applied in 19.21% of the total consulted. Dogs and cats were the most common animal species suspected as the source of rabies exposure. Anti-rabies prophylaxis was applied to 51.56% of all vaccinated patients exposed to dogs and to 20.06% exposed to cats. Rabies was confirmed mainly in domestic animals (2 cats, 1 dog). Among wild animals, only 1 case of rabies was confirmed in a single bat.

Opis:
Aerial parts and roots of Crithmum maritimum L. fertilized with Tytanit were investigated on the presence of phenolic acids (PhAs). Cinnamic and benzoic acid derivatives were quantified by use of validated RP-HPLC/DAD method. The amount of PhAs in fertilized plants (T) was higher than in control (C) plants (in the aerial parts: 2.16 mg/g and 1.28 mg/g dry weight, respectively, and in roots: 4.05 mg/g and 2.78 mg/g dry weight, respectively). The predominant PhA was the caffeic acid (83.2–94.2% of the total PhAs). After Tytanit treatment, amount of the caffeic acid rose from 667.41 μg/g in C to 1463.83 μg/g dry weight in the aerial parts of T, and in roots from 2251.74 μg/g in C to 3451.86 μg/g dry weight in T. Tytanit had also influence on the qualitative composition of PhAs; in extracts from aerial parts, some of PhAs (ferulic, chlorogenic, and syringic acids), absent in control, appeared after fertilization.

Opis:
Objectives: Premature rupture of the membranes (PROM) in pregnancy refers to rupture of membranes of the amniotic sac and chorion. The aim of the study was to review the literature and analyze the course of pregnancy (primipara) complicated by the premature rupture of the membranes, and consequent loss of amniotic fluid after 19 weeks of gestation. Study design: A 27-year old primiparous patient was admitted to the Gynaecology and Obstetrics University Hospital in Poznań on 9 December 2010, due to suspected premature rupture of the membranes. On presentation, foetal development was at 19 weeks gestation. Standard clinical investigations included ultrasonography, amniotic fluid index measurements and laboratory blood tests. Results: Ultrasonography confirmed the size of the foetus to be normal for the gestational age. However, no amniotic fluid pockets were visible and the amniotic fluid index was 0 cm. The patient was hospitalized on multiple occasions and as a result a decision was made to end the pregnancy prematurely by means of a caesarean section at 32 weeks of gestation. Longer-term observation of the newborn indicated that one year following delivery, the development of the baby was normal, and thus far no neurological injuries or complications have been observed. Conclusion: The pregnancy was ultimately successfully completed with the delivery of a healthy newborn at 32 weeks of gestation. A regime involving rigorous bed rest and antibiotic administration can positively extend the duration of pregnancies complicated by premature rupture of the membranes.

Opis:
Atomic absorptive spectrophotometry analyses of the content of Ca, Mg, K, Fe Mn, Zn and Cu in different organs, and in whole plants with roots, of Chrysanthemum segetum in two growth phases from 7 habitats have shown that: 1. Chrysanthemum contains relatively little Ca, the highest content of this component being found in the leaves. 2. Chrysanthemum takes up and stores more K than do cereals, e.g. wheat, barley or oats. 3. A regularity can be seen in the accumulation of the elements under study in its organs; although they occur on an average in larger amounts in the leaves and inflorescences, the level of some of them depends on the growth phase of the plant, e.g. the roots of young plants, regardless of the habitat, contain more K and Zn than the roots of flowering plants. The content of Fe, Mn and Zn is in general higher in Chrysanthemum than in other weed species occurring together with it in cropfields.
