This paper presents some Japanese forms of address. The use of correct forms of address in Japanese requires linguistic as well as social knowledge. Japanese people seem to avoid employing pronouns as address forms, employing other nouns instead. Family terms, place names, occupations, company names, shop names are popularly used as forms of address in everyday life. An important factor in choosing an appropriate form of address is the relationship between interlocutors. Thus, address forms can represent a referent’s position in their society. The grammatical category of person is not exactly the same as its practical use.

In the course of my research at PHD at the AMU University in Poland, I was exposed to patterns of communication between the school and the parents of the students. It turns out that these patterns change frequently: if in the past it was customary to write to parents in a contact notebook about the student’s behavior at school, or make a call through Telephone line. Now we are exposed to new patterns of communication that may improve the relationship between the school and the parents, but on the other hand there are dangers and challenges that, if not considered, may harm the parents’ involvement or contact with them. In recent years, with digital technological developments (Internet, smartphones, social networks), there has been a significant change in communication patterns between parents and teachers. The communication is immediate, the parents are connected to the school Site, and they are updated online by email, the WA messages, groups, etc. In this article I will examine the changes in communication between the school and parents and the significance of these changes. I will also relate to the gaps created between populations that can’t afford some of these technologies and the intergenerational gap that is growing as a result of technological changes and their impact on students, parents and teachers

Although there are possible direct and indirect ways of investing in commodities, the paper focuses on indirect investing through commodityrelated stocks and commodity funds. The research aims at assessing their efficiency in comparison to stock market, so the main index of Warsaw Stock Exchange (WIG) is a benchmark. There were calculated basic characteristics of considered assets and there were tested hypotheses of normality of their logarithmic returns and equality of their means and deviations from mean in relation to the benchmark. As no time series followed normal distribution, Mann-Whitney U test was applied.

The main aim of this paper is to show different, sometimes shocking or surprising ways of treating illnesses in women’s autobiographies, mainly from XIX century. Women’s literature of personal document here is treated as a very interesting and trustworthy source of information about illnesses, their symptoms, doctor’s more or less pertinent diagnosis. Texts, here understood as archive of examples of stories about authoresses or their friends diseases, also creates a space where connections between social, historical contexts and proprieties are well seen, what makes more visible associations between history of medicine and history of literature.

Theology
Dogmatics
Christology
Opis:
&. e need for multiple integration in Christology as well as the Christologicalcorrelation of all theology must not raise any doubts nowadays. As we haveseen, this is supported by the clear indications of the last Council as well as bythe multiple tendencies that can be seen in the post-conciliar renewal of theology.e Christological correlation of theology profoundly corresponds notonly to its unity, but also to its return to biblical sources, to apostolic traditionand its kerygmatic character, the proclamation of the mystery of salvation andthe call to faith. Similarly, the systematic integration of Christology itself, thegreater link between biblical and speculative Christology and the mystery of theIncarnation and the mystery of Redemption allow it be possible to make fromthe mystery of Christ the central theme of the entire lecture on dogmatic theologyand, more importantly, to show Christ and his salvific works as eternallyliving and highest value in which we are involved and to which we are to makea full consecration. e integration of the different directions of Christologybetter reflects the unfathomable richness of the revealed truth about Christand the history of constant efforts of Christian thought to penetrate this truthmost deeply. It also takes into account the specific circumstances that haveled to the gradual clarification of the various aspects of the mystery of Christin dogmatic definitions. Finally, it emphasises the fact that one and the sameChristian faith has been expressed over the centuries in different traditions in theEast and West, and that there has almost always been a variety of theologicalapproaches to one and the same Christological dogma. erefore, such an integrationof Christology is of great importance for the preparation of ecumenicaldialogue and the proper exposition of the problems of theological pluralism andreinterpretation of dogmas.3. However, it is difficult to find any ideal way to achieve this correlation and integration.Attempts made so far show many different possibilities, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages. As for the Christological correlationof the whole theology, especially the dogmatic, one can take Christology – thescience, the work and Christ Himself – as the starting point for the lectureof all other theological treatises because the whole salvific economy of God wasrevealed to us fully only in the mystery of Christ. It is also possible, followingthe traditional dogmatic system, to consider Christology as a central theologicaltreatise and to show that the whole revelation of God and the history of salvationwere directed towards Christ, that in him they found their full realisation, and that the further history of salvation in the Church in the world until thesecond coming of the Lord is the continuation of Christ’s salvific work andderives its meaning and effectiveness from the mystery of the Incarnation andRedemption. e systematic integration of Christology itself can also take ondifferent forms. It is possible to move from Christ’s work, His words and deedsto His person, or from Christ’s person to His work. In other words, it is possibleto begin by showing what Christ has done, and then analyse who he was, or viceversa. e first way is probably more in line with the biblical phenomenologicalcharacter of the latest approaches to Christology. e second follows the lineof traditional concepts.Integration in the historical direction can also be carried out in differentways. e prospective method recommended by the Council can be adopted,i.e. to show the gradual development of the revelation of the mystery of Christin St. and N. e Testament and the development of an awareness of faith in thismystery in the history of the Church up to the present day, the formation of differenttraditions and many theological approaches, while preserving the essentialidentity of faith, is precise where necessary in symbols of faith and dogmaticdefinitions. It is also possible to use a more traditional retrospective method,i.e. to present today’s awareness of the Church’s faith in the mystery of Christwith various theological controversies and emerging problems, and, going backthrough centuries of Church tradition and the development of theological thought,to show the whole historical-biblical background of Christian Christology. iswill prove its identity and at the same time its constant development and richnessof views. us, theologians, lecturers and textbook authors have differentpossibilities to implement the postulates of correlation and integration. elack of one ready-made model in this field as a result of the ongoing processof post-conciliar renewal of the entire theology sometimes gives rise to someanxiety. However, it is a creative anxiety, protecting against routine and ossification.is situation makes it necessary to rethink and adapt the lectures on thecentral mystery of Christianity to the current conditions and needs of the listenersin order to revive their faith and commitment to the salvific work of Christ.

Opis:
The content of praise given to children co-determines their effectiveness. Certain ways of praising may not only be ineffective, but may even be harmful to children. The aim of the study was to determine which praise methods, categorized by content, are most often used by mothers of young children and whether their frequency is related to the age and gender of their children. 465 mothers of children aged 1–7 were examined using the Questionnaire of Ways of Praise (Kwestionariusza Sposobów Chwalenia). Participants reported most often praising the effect of children’s activity, then the way the child performed the activity. They described what they considered praiseworthy, formulated passing praise, and emphasized the importance of the child’s behavior for other people slightly less often. They rarely declared praise by comparing the child with other children. Older children were more often asked what they think when being praised, were more often compared with other children, and put as an example. Younger children were more often praised in person. The gender and age of the children were important for the use of praise regardless of the child’s behavior.

The aim of this article is to contribute with findings concerning students’ ways of experiencing general mathematical structures and, in particular, relationships in additive structures. When students discern relationships in additive structures, it may lead to positive consequences for students’ future ability to perform calculations in addition and subtraction tasks. In the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with students in grades 3, 8, and 9. An illustration showing a set of different quantities was the starting point during the interviews, together with an opening question regarding how the diverse quantities could be equalised. After the students’ discussions, they were asked if this could be described mathematically using written symbols. The students’ expressions concerning the phenomenon “relationships between quantities” were analyzed using phenomenography as an analytical tool. According to phenomenography, there are a limited number of ways in which a phenomenon can be experienced. Further, it is not about exploring how many individuals hold a specific experience that is of interest. In the case of this article, it is about capturing qualitatively different ways of experiencing the phenomenon relationships between quantities. Despite no specific numbers being presented, many students attributed specific numbers and values when expressing relationships between quantities. The students expressed general mathematical structures only to a limited extent and, in those cases, mostly only after encouragement from the interviewer. Following the phenomenographical analysis, the students’ ways of experiencing “relationships between quantities” are: as something that has to be calculated, or as something that has to be related. The first of these was most common in all grades. In this study, one critical aspect was identified, namely, that quantities are related to each other, additively. Instead of introducing mathematics with a focus on answer-oriented tasks, it is essential to introduce mathematics based on general structures such as additive structures. Even if the students are not familiar with such a mathematical “culture”, it is worth it. This was confirmed in our study.

The aim of the study was to diagnose the ways of understanding the abstract concept of the horizon, in groups of 8- to 9-year-olds and 9- to 10-year-old children. The research was carried out in a venue that provided a natural learning environment (in two second grade classes and two third grade classes). The research adopted the strategy of didactic intervention. The researcher acted as an observer and a participant, and the research material came from participatory observation. The observation covered both the activities of pupils as well as the effects of these activities. The research material obtained in the course of conversations with children and their artistic activity was analyzed. The research results reconstructed the children’s process of understanding the concept of the horizon and revealed possibilities of enriching educational discourse.

Considered one of the leading proponents of natural theology in the 20th century, E. L. Mascall (1905–1993) taught philosophy and theology at King’s College London for most of his career. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he insisted that classical theism, embodied in the writings of Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, could be successfully revived for a modern audience. Known for his vigorous defense of neo-Thomism, Mascall offered an unusual interpretation of The Five Ways. While modern scholastics typically read the proofs as syllogistic exercises, Mascall maintained that God’s existence could not be deduced from premises, but must be grasped by means of a unique type of “metaphysical intuition” which he called “contuition.” In my paper, I will re-examine his position, explore his reasons for adopting it, and finally raise several questions concerning its significance for the history of neo-Thomism.

Opis:
How the idea of tacit knowledge is being understood typically? The article reconstructs interpretations in context of three different disciplines: (1) linguistics, (2) cognitive psychology and (3) sociology of knowledge. Furthermore, it proposes (4) definitional criteria for a general notion of tacit knowledge. Abstracts 163 Within philosophical interpretation of N. Chomsky’s generative grammar, the term refers to knowledge of linguistic universals and grammar rules. This knowledge is tacit, since it manifests only through ability to (a) recognize grammar proprieties of expressions in natural language, as well as to (b) generate and understand practically infinite number of them. According to J. Fodor it can be identified with ability to speak (making verbal utterances), hence cannot be substantially distinguished from any other forms of embodied or habitual knowledge. According to alternative interpretation this kind of tacit knowledge (a) has propositional status, (b) is innate and (c) enable all possible grammar forms to be deduced from it. Within context of cognitive psychology tacit knowledge is understood habitually, i.e. as knowledge that manifest itself only through skilful action and cannot be linguistically verbalised. This idea derives form distinction between declarative and procedural memory, inspired by G. Ryle’s distinction between knowing how and knowing that. Habitual knowledge is (a) completely unaware or almost unaware, (b) cannot be fully made aware nor verbalised, is (c) person-related and (d) contextspecific. Third way of understanding was proposed by Harry Collins, who has recently (2010) introduced three own types of tacit knowledge - (a) somatic, (b) relational and (c) collective. According to his idea knowledge has basically tacit character, since it circulates „throughout the universe” as physically understood information („pattern”) inscribed on different physical carries („strings”). Relational tacit knowledge can be fully verbalized and implemented in human body or any physical automaton. Somatic tacit knowledge cannot be fully verbalised, since – apart of its quasi-mechanical dimension – it also includes improvisatory (ever-adaptive) aspect of human skills, it can be however transferred to animals (like riding a bike). Collective tacit knowledge cannot be verbalised at all – it is specific exclusively to social dimension of cognitive activities (like driving a car), i.e. cannot be transferred to any sort of animals or automata. Apart of descriptive reconstruction of listed ideas, the article propose four general criteria to define an idea of tacit knowledge sensu largo. According to author’s stand, the term „tacit knowledge” designates (a) all kinds of non-propositional knowledge or unaware propositional knowledge; (b) all kinds of a priori knowledge; (c) dispositional knowledge (skills; competence); (d) knowledge conceived as information acquired by any organic system through permanent interaction with environment.

Solidarity is a fundamental obligation in social life. Its indications are still relevant not only in welfare states but also poor and stratified societies. Active solidarity of individuals is a necessary condition of liveliness of the society and its autonomy in relation to the state. It constitutes an antidote to anonymity and mass culture and guarantees the subjectivity of the society. The society as a whole has to manifest solidarity with the weakest individuals. Solidarity, which prevents disintegration of the social space and division of society into several separate worlds, gives a chance for a peaceful social life and creates conditions for shaping loyalty and the sense of unity with the society and the state. Solidarity leads us from the individual towards the society. Solidarity in this particular aspect manifests itself through maintaining the common ”rules of the game”, which facilitate proper functioning of the society as a whole.

Opis:
The article presents a typology of linking biology and sociology. I argue that there are three possibilities as to what can be transferred from biology to sociology: theoretical structures, data, or both. The first type of linking, biologism without biology, consists in applying biological theoretical structures, via formal laws, to a different type of empirical or theoretical entities (biological organism - society as an organism; gene - meme; biological evolution - societal evolution). The second type, proper biologism, involves both biological theoretical structures and data (instinctivism, sociobiology, evolutionary psychology). It is usually associated with ontological reductionism and explanations meant to compete with those from cultural sociology. The third type, biology without biologism, consists in enriching existing sociological theories by indicating their biological correlates (neurosociology, genetics sociology). This approach allows us to treat biology as informative, but not competitive or reductive.
