    The Polish reaction to Peter Weir’s film The Way Back (2010) was centred on a discussion about the credibility of its literary prototype, Sławomir Rawicz’s book The long walk (1955). The author of the article does not discuss this con troversy; she prefers to concentrate on the adaptation that was chosen by the director, who combines different interpretations of the phenomenon of freedom in his movie. Weir’s approach can be regarded as transnational and such a perspective is suggested as a context for the interpretation of The Way Back. .

    Opis:
    Using the symbolism of the way, the narrative of the Gospel according to Mark compels its reader to pursue a transformative itinerary in of identification with the narrative’s main character, Jesus Christ. As the topic of the Markan “way” as a symbol of identification has received scarce scholarly attention, this study begins by defining the key concepts of the way and the symbol, followed by a textual inquiry that relies on a narrative analysis. The ensuing theological analysis finds that through its symbolic power, the “way” serves as both an appeal to comprehend the Lord’s own way and an ethical calling to follow. The Markan “way” points to a disciple’s ongoing quest of identification with Jesus as a transformative and self-effacing path to God who is Himself this way.
    Poprzez symbolikę drogi narracja Ewangelii według św. Marka zmusza jej czytelnika do podjęcia transformacyjnej wędrówki w identyfikacji z głównym bohaterem narracji, Jezusem Chrystusem. Ponieważ temat Markowej „drogi” jako symbol identyfikacji nie doczekał się wielkiej uwagi ze strony naukowców, prezentowane studium definiuje najpierw kluczowe koncepcje drogi i symbolu, a następnie bada tekst w oparciu analizę narracyjną. Przeprowadzona w dalszej kolejności analiza teologiczna pozwala stwierdzić, że „droga”, dzięki swej symbolice, służy zarówno jako wezwanie do zrozumienia drogi Jezusa jak i etyczny apel do naśladowania. Markowa „droga” wskazuje na trwałe dążenie ucznia do identyfikacji z Jezusem, który jest transformującą i skromną drogą do Boga.

    Opis:
    In the field of logistics packaging, companies have to take decisions on determining the optimal packaging solutions and expenses. The decisions often involve a choice between one-way (disposable) and reusable (returnable) packaging solutions. Even nowadays, in most cases the decisions are made based on traditions and mainly consider the material and investment costs. Although cost is an important factor, it might not be sufficient for finding the optimal solution. Traditional (two-valued) logic is not suitable for modelling this problem, so here the application of a fuzzy approach, because of the metrical aspects, a fuzzy signature approach is considered. In this paper three different fuzzy signatures connected by fuzzy rules modelling the packaging decision are suggested, based on logistics expert opinions, in order to support the decision making process of choosing the right packaging system. Two real life examples are also given, one in the field of customer packaging and one in industrial packaging.

    The chief aim of this article is to show that St. Thomas Aquinas’s Fourth Way of demonstrating God’s existence can only be made precisely intelligible by comprehending it as a real, generic whole in light of its specific organizational principles. Considered as a real, generic whole, this argument is one from effect to cause (from a real order of more or less perfectly existing generic, specific, and individual beings [habens esse] more or less perfectly possessing generic, specific, and individual ways of being within qualitatively different, hierarchical, orders of existence to a first cause of this order of perfections). In addition, this article maintains that, to comprehend this complicated argument, readers mush be familiar with philosophical principles that St. Thomas repeatedly uses throughout his major works, but with which most of his contemporary students tend to be unfamiliar. Consequently, a secondary aim of this paper is to introduce readers unfamiliar with them to some of these principle so that they may be able better to comprehend what St. Thomas is saying in this demonstration and in other teachings of his as well.

    Christian spirituality was perceived differently in the whole history of Church. When we look at the spiritual heritage of Christianity, a special position is given to a unique spiritual and geographic locality – the state of monks – Athos peninsula. It is a beautiful place where no woman has ever entered. This contribution aims to describe and interpret the religious heritage of this spiritually unique place. It is perceived as a protected area and the centre of eastern spirituality. It will be described on the basis of Church history as well as on the basis of personal experience of the author who visited Mount Athos and scientifically explored the sources.
    Duchowość chrześcijańska postrzegana była odmiennie w całej historii Kościoła. Szczególną pozycję w duchowym dziedzictwie chrześcijaństwa zajmuje stan mnichów z półwyspu Athos. To piękne miejsce, do którego żadna kobieta nigdy nie weszła. Artykuł ma na celu opisanie i interpretację dziedzictwa religijnego tego wyjątkowego centrum duchowości. Jest ono postrzegane jako centrum wschodniej duchowości i obszar chroniony. Opracowanie powstało na podstawie źródeł z historii Kościoła oraz osobistego doświadczenia autora, który odwiedził górę Athos i zbadał naukowo źródła omawianego zagadnienia.

    Synodálny proces predstavuje spoločné kráčanie na životnej ceste spolu s Ježišom. Zahrnutie laikov do synodálneho procesu pápežom Františkom je prejavom prijatia mariánskeho princípu Cirkvi, ktorý spočíva v napodobňovaní Máriinho súhlasu s Božou vôľou a v prinášaní Krista do sveta. Jedným z najcennejších podnetov synodálneho procesu pre myslenie je komunitárne rozlišovanie, ktoré môže napomôcť aj rozlišovaniu jednotlivca. Cesta k rozlišovaniu cez načúvanie a dialóg má byť prejavom lásky k blížnemu. Vo vzájomnej láske môže byť rozhodovanie ovplyvnené aj prítomnosťou Ježiša uprostred tých, ktorí sa usilujú o vzájomnú lásku podľa Ježišových slov: „Lebo kde sú dvaja alebo traja zhromaždení v mojom mene, tam som ja medzi nimi“ (Mt 18,20). Úsilím o lásku k druhému človeku nasledujeme samotného Ježiša, snažíme sa myslieť ako on. A tak synodálny spôsob myslenia prináša, ako to vyjadruje Piero Coda, nový spôsob myslenia, perichoretický spôsob myslenia jedného s druhým a v druhom v Ježišovi.
    The synodal process represents walking together on the way of life together with Jesus. The inclusion of the laity in the synodal process by Pope Francis is a manifestation of the Church’s acceptance of the Marian principle, which consists in imitating Mary’s consent to God’s will and in bringing Christ into the world. One of the most valuable stimuli of the synodal process for thinking is communal discernment, which can also help individual discernment. The path to discernment through listening and dialogue should be an expression of love for one’s neighbor. In the case of mutual love, the decision can also be influenced by the presence of Jesus in the midst of those who strive for mutual love, according to the words of Jesus: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am among them” (Mt 18,20). By striving for love for others, we follow Jesus himself, we try to think like him. And so the synodal way of thinking brings, as Piero Coda expresses it, a new way of thinking, a perichoretic way of thinking something with another in Jesus.
