Opis:
Spin waves of a thin ferromagnetic film containing in its bulk two impurity layers, each parallel to the film surface and symmetrically disposed with regard to the film centre, are theoretically investigated within the framework of the Heisenberg model. The existence conditions for surface-localized and impurity-layer localized spin waves are established. Particular attention is given to the effect of a possible hybridization of these localized excitations; it is shown that this phenomenon does in fact occur for certain specified directions of the in-plane wave vector k$\text{}_{||}$.

Singular surface theory is applied to study the growth and decay properties of weak magnetogasdynamic discontinuities under the influences of thermal conduction and the time-dependent radiation field interacting with magnetogasdynamic field with finite electrical conductivity. It is shown that the time-dependent radiation field gives rise to a radiation induced weak wave which is always damped and the magnetogasdynamic waves which break at the wave front if the initial discontinuity is sufficiently strong. The wave front curvature effects on the weak magnetogasdynamic waves are also discussed.

For the two interface cubic cuts: sc(110) and sc(111) we consider the existence regions of interface spin-waves of a ferromagnetic bilayer film on the two-dimensional Brillouin zone as to their size and shape versus the respective interface related parameters (interface exchange coupling and intrinsic interface anisotropy) applying the approximation of a very thick bilayer film and the method of Brillouin zone mapping (the three (100) interface cubic orientations have been dealt with earlier [Phys. Rev. B 51, 16008 (1995)]). Of particular interest to us still remains the emergence of interface spin-waves induced by varying dynamic quantities such as the in-plane propagation wave vector k$\text{}_{∥}$. Moreover, in our present investigation, we put especial emphasis on the effect exerted on the Brillouin zone mapping by varying (in the plane perpendicular to the film) the configuration angle of the film magnetization with respect to the film normal. We predict the existence of (at the most two) critical angles $\text{}_{c}$ at which the interface spin-waves emerge. These critical angles are functions of the in-plane wave vector k$\text{}_{∥}$ of interface spin-wave propagation along the interface. Finally, we discuss the effects due to the presence of critical angles with a view to their exploitation in experimental measurements.

Opis:
The X-ray standing wave and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy in channelling geometry were applied for the investigation of the structure of silicon single crystals implanted with 80 keV Fe ions. Both methods were used for the determination of crystal damage and lattice location of implanted metal atoms before and after thermal annealing. Both methods gave consistent results regarding the amorphization of Si due to the Fe-ion implantation. Moreover, using both methods some Fe substitution fraction was determined. The depth profiles of implanted atoms were compared to the results of computer simulations. Complementary use of X-ray standing wave and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy channelling techniques for studies of radiation damage and lattice location of implanted atoms is discussed.

The pulsed heating of the interface between a solid and a liquid leads to the excitation of acoustic interface waves. These interface waves are detected at a variable distance from the generation region by means of a beam deflection setup. By evaluating the amplitude and phase spectra (using a Fast Fourier transform) of two wave pulses at two different source-receiver distances, the velocity of propagation and the attenuation of the interface waves are measured as a function of frequency (bandwidth of 50 MHz). By fitting these experimentally determined results to theory it is possible to determine the acoustic properties of the liquid as a function of frequency.

The paper deals with dynamic analysis of low structures subject to kinematic excitations caused by transversal waves when using nonlinear discrete-continuous models. The models consist of rigid bodies and elastic elements which undergo only shear deformations. In these models discrete elements with a damper and a spring of a nonlinear characteristic representing local nonlinearities can be included. In the study a wave approach is used, in terms of the wave solution of the equations of motion. Numerical calculations are performed for model with single, two, three or four rigid bodies. They focus on the determination of amplitudefrequency curves and investigation into the effect of local nonlinearities on displacements of selected cross-sections of elastic elements in the considered models.
Praca dotyczy analizy dynamicznej niskich obiektów poddanych poprzecznym wymuszeniom kinematycznym wykorzystując nieliniowe modele dyskretno-ciągłe. Modele te składają się z brył sztywnych i elementów sprężystych poddanych tylko odkształceniom ścinającym. W modelach tych można uwzględnić dyskretne elementy ze sprężyną o nieliniowej charakterystyce reprezentujące lokalne nieliniowości. W rozważaniach zastosowano metodę falową, w której wykorzystuje się rozwiązanie falowe równań ruchu. Obliczenia numeryczne wykonano dla modeli z jedną, dwiema, trzema i czterema bryłami sztywnymi. Koncentrują się one na wyznaczaniu krzywych amplitudowo-częstotliwościowych i badaniu wpływu parametrów reprezentujących lokalną nieliniowość na przemieszczenia w wybranych przekrojach poprzecznych elementów sprężystych rozważanych układów dyskretno-ciągłych.

This work is aimed at a numerical investigation of the spin-wave energies and respective band structures throughout the two-dimensional Brillouin zone in magnetic (cubic) thin films for the surface orientations sc(001), bcc(001) and fcc(001). We apply the Heisenberg localized spin model assuming exchange nearest (NN) and next-nearest (NNN) neighbour interactions and elucidate the role of the geometrical disposition of the NN and NNN neighbourhoods for the emergence of the surface spin-waves. The necessary condition for the emergence of the surface spin-waves is turned out to require the bonds to be cut at the surface obliquely thereto irrespective of whether these "oblique" interactions are of the NN or NNN type.

Propagation of the TE electromagnetic waves in self-focusing medium is governed by the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. In this paper the stationary solutions of this equation have been systematically presented. The phase-plane method, qualitative analysis, and mechanical interpretation of the differential equations are widely used. It is well known that TE waves can be guided by a single interface between two semi-infinite media, providing that one of the media has a self-focusing (Kerr-type) nonlinearity. This special solution is called a spatial soliton. In this paper our interests are not restricted to the soliton solutions. In the context of the nonlinear substrate and cladding we have found solutions which could be useful to describe also the incident light in a nonlinear medium. This result is the main point of the paper. Some of the presented stationary solutions were already used in a similar optical context in the literature but we show a little wider class of solutions. In the last section we review and illustrate some results concerning the spatial soliton solution.

The phase diagram of strongly anisotropic two-axis ferromagnet at arbitrary orientation of external magnetic field is built. It is demonstrated that together with a ferromagnetic phase there is possible the existence of phases with a tensorial order parameter: quadrupolar or quadrupolar-ferromagnetic phases. Spectra of bound magnetoelastic waves are investigated. Besides it is demonstrated that at large enough magnetoelastic interaction there is possible an active interaction of a magnetic subsystem with longitudinally polarized acoustic mode which becomes a soft mode at the point of orientational phase transition.

In the paper the method of wide band ultrasonic spectroscopy is applied to determination of the wave velocity and attenuation in a trabecular bovine bone and materials of bone implants. The theory of wave propagation in two-phase fluid saturated porous dissipative media, given by Biot (1956), is used in analysis of wave parameters in bone, instead of the usually applied theory of single-phase media. The analysis of attenuation coefficients and phase velocities of dilatational waves propagating in bovine bones and implants within the frequency range from 0.2 to 1.2 MHz has indicated remarkable influence of the internal structure of the materials on waves parameters. Potential directions of further exploatations of the results are considered.
W pracy przedstawiono zastosowanie metody szerokopasmwej spektroskopii ultradźwiękowej do określenia prędkości i tłumienia fal w wołowej kości gąbczastej i ceramicznych materiałach biozastępczych. Do analizy parametrów propagacji fal, wykorzystano model Biota (1956) dwufazowego ośrodka porowatego nasyconego płynem z uwzględnieniem efektów dysypatywnych w odróżnieniu od zwykle stosowanych dla takich materiałów modeli ośrodków jednofazowych. Otrzymane wyniki dla współczynników tłumienia i prędkości fazowych fal podłużnych w badanych kościach i implantach, w zakresie częstotliwości od 0.2 do 1.2 MHz, wskazują na znaczący wpływ struktury wewnętrznej materiałów na parametry propagacji fal. Rozważono możliwość wykorzystania otrzymanych wyników do oceny mikrostruktury porowatego materiału.
