Opis:
The paper provides the characteristics of the construction and principle of operation of the adaptive cruise control system (ACC). The most important components of the system were presented and its cooperation with other electronic systems of the vehicle was discussed. An essential part of the paper focuses on diagnostic tests which were conducted on a model ACC system. The article presents the diagnostic device used during the tests and the characteristics of the tested system. During the diagnostic tests, the correctness of the ACC system communication with other systems was verified. The operation of the ACC manipulator push buttons was tested. Voltage and current values important for the proper performance of the system were read. The last part of the tests served the purpose of verification of the signals related to the current settings and condition of the ACC system.

The article discusses the construction and principle of operation of the adaptive cruise control system (ACC). The elements constituting an integral part of the ACC system were described, starting with the sensors and ending with the active safety systems such as ABS and ESP. The location of the elements was presented and their cooperation ensuring the proper operation of the ACC system was characterised. Road tests, which were conducted for the purposes of this paper, were used to verify the behaviour of a vehicle equipped with the ACC system during a test drive, braking, stopping and accelerating the vehicle. The system’s behaviour while driving the vehicle around a curve behind another vehicle and the response of the system to cutting in by an overtaking vehicle was tested.

W pracy scharakteryzowano budowę i zasadę działania radarowego systemu adaptacyjnej kontroli prędkości (ACC). Przedstawiono najważniejsze elementy składowe systemu oraz omówiono jego współpracę z innymi elektronicznymi układami pojazdu. Istotną część pracy stanowią badania diagnostyczne jakie zostały przeprowadzone na przykładowym układzie ACC. W artykule przedstawiono urządzenie diagnostyczne użyte podczas badań oraz scharakteryzowano badany system. W trakcie badań diagnostycznych zweryfikowano poprawność komunikacji systemu ACC z innymi układami. Przetestowano pracę przycisków manipulatora ACC. Odczytano wartości napięć i prądów istotnych dla poprawnej pracy systemu. W ostatniej części badań zweryfikowano sygnały związane z bieżącymi ustawieniami i stanem systemu ACC.
The work was characterized by the construction and operation of the radar system, adaptive cruise control (ACC). It presents the most important components of the system and discussed its cooperation with other electronic vehicle systems. An important part of the work are the diagnostic tests have been carried out on the sample system. The paper presents a diagnostic tool used in the tests and the test system characterized ACC. During the diagnostic tests verified the correctness of communication ACC with other systems. Tested working buttons manipulator ACC. Read voltages and currents essential for the proper operation of the system. In the last part of the study verified the signals associated with the current settings and the state of the ACC.

In the paper we propose two ways of reliability calculation of radar system in Vessel Traffic Services Zatoka. Reliability and availability of the system were calculated on the base of reliability of the system components. In the first approach there was assumed that system is series, in the second approach system is treated as a series-“m out of n”. We obtain different results. Conclusion is that choosing proper method of approach to system reliability and availability analysis is decisive in appropriate evaluation of those properties.

A Passive Coherent Location (PCL) Radar system, consisting of spatially distributed transmitters and receivers is currently being integrated at the University of Cape Town (UCT). The paper investigates the feasibility of real-time processing of PCL system signals using Graphic Processing Units (GPUs), specifically a study of two distinct clutter cancellation algorithms: ECA (Extensive Cancellation Algorithm) and NLMS (Normalised Least Mean Square). Clutter cancellation is the most computationally demanding part of PCL signal processing. This investigation compares the processing speed-up achieved by GPU over CPU implementations, with very encouraging results.

This paper presents the radar system installed by the Polish maritime administration within the scope of the “National System of Maritime Safety (KSBM)” project. One of the main objectives of introducing the system is to improve the safety of navigation on the fairways, routes and in traffic separation schemes and ports, as well as the environmental protection of the coastal waters of Polish maritime areas. Radars are intended mainly for the early detection and accurate tracking of ships for the purpose of preventing maritime accidents and pollution of the sea and coast line. They are connected to a digital exchange network that allows remote handling and data transfer in relation to radar station – control centre – radar station and between control centres. The basic technical parameters of the purchased radars, installation position and the detection ranges, calculated by means of the CARPET program for objects and conditions defined in the IALA Recommendation V-128, are described.

The TIGER-3 radar is being developed as an “all digital” radar with 20 integrated digital transceivers, each connected to a separate antenna. Using phased array antenna techniques, radiated power is steered towards a desired direction based on the relative phases within the array elements. This paper proposes an accurate phase measurement method to calibrate the phases of the radio output signals using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. The method sequentially measures the phase offset between the RF signal generated by each transceiver and a reference signal operated at the same frequency. Accordingly, the transceiver adjusts its phase in order to align to the reference phase. This results in accurately aligned phases of the RF output signals and with the further addition of appropriate phase offsets, digital beamforming (DBF) can be performed steering the beam in a desired direction. The proposed method is implemented on a Virtex-5 VFX70T device. Experimental results show that the calibration accuracy is of 0.153 degrees with 14 MHz operating frequency.

The paper presents selected problems of design of machinery retrofit in Industry 4.0 era. In order to show the diversity of applications of new technological achievements, the case of radar revitalization as a museum exhibit has been shown. Ensuring functional safety and staff work safety has been changed into the safety of visitors to the museum and bystanders. Different approaches to the implementation of the safe stop function in both the internal adjustable frequency drive and the safety terrain zone are presented in the article.

W artykule omówiono budowę i zasadę działania systemu aktywnego tempomatu. Opisano elementy wchodzące w skład systemu ACC począwszy od czujników aż po systemy bezpieczeństwa czynnego takie jak ABS i ESP. Przedstawiono rozmieszczenie elementów i scharakteryzowano ich współpracę zapewniającą prawidłowe działanie systemu ACC. W badaniach drogowych, które zrealizowano w ramach pracy, sprawdzono zachowanie się pojazdu wyposażonego w układ ACC. Sprawdzono jego działanie podczas hamowania, zatrzymywania i przyspieszania pojazdu. Zbadano zachowanie systemu przy jeździe na łuku za innym pojazdem oraz sprawdzono reakcję systemu przy zajechaniu drogi przez pojazd wyprzedzający.
The article discusses the design and operation of the system of active cruise control. Describes the elements included in the ACC from the sensors to the active safety systems such as ABS and ESP. They show the distribution of elements and characterized their cooperation ensures proper operation of the ACC system. In studies of road, which was carried out in the context of work, checked the behaviour of the vehicle equipped with the ACC. Tested for its effectiveness during braking, stopping and acceleration of the vehicle. We examined the behaviour of the system when driving on a curve behind another vehicle and checked the reaction of the system when the road is blocked by the overtaking vehicle.

This article presents the conclusion from my two theses, Comparison of tracking systems and Tracking systems. In the first part with title Comparison of tracking system, was my work focused to research of primary and secondary radar technology with very detailed description and principle of their use. This part of my research consists also from comparison of those two different types of technologies, their advantages and disadvantages. This research was the base stone for my second part of thesis with title: Tracking systems and conclusions, summarized in this article. The second part of thesis is more focused to civil and army passive radar and meteorological technology. The main topic is: how to build up the new radar network by using passive radar technology and what are the advantages and disadvantages of this concept, in comparison with actual primary and secondary radar network. I have chosen Slovak Republic for new network planning but this theory and research is applicable for all the other countries, with some minor changes. This topic is focused mainly to advantages of passive surveillance system and multilateration.
