Article presents the influence of battery capacity and electric generator power on a series hybrid vehicle range. Vehicles equipped with increased battery capacity and small power generator are special type of series hybrid vehicles called Extended Range Electric Vehicles – E-REV. The increasing number of hybrid and electric vehicles increases the demand for durable and efficient sources of energy storage for vehicles. The hybrid vehicle's battery driven range is increased as battery power density is increased and its cost is decreased. This is due to the battery cell cost decreasing and improvement of cell chemistry. That cause higher and higher distance driven on electric mode in hybrid vehicles. First series hybrid vehicle engine power was equal to engine powered the vehicle’s wheels. Nowadays, series hybrid vehicles are more electric vehicles with small power generator (piston or turbine engine. In such a constructions, battery is used as an energy buffer and combustion engine is used more as emergency power supply. To minimize this phenomenon, manufacturers use counteracting solutions that include mounting additional cells in the battery that are switched on when the battery controller identifies a particular battery cell’s failure or high degradation. This is due to the deep and shallow discharges of the battery, the numbers of charging and discharging cycles, and the age and technology of battery packs. AMESim software was used for the simulation of the E-REV hybrid vehicle range. The research was based on modelling the range of the vehicle with different battery capacity works with power generator of different power. By modelling different capacity of battery and power of small generator, it is possible to determine the vehicle range.

Artykuł obejmuje dorobek historiograficzny grupy dwudziestu księży diecezji kieleckiej tworzących w ostatnim półwieczu. Przebadany materiał objął około 800 prac historycznych. Rozwinięte nurty badań związane są z przedmiotem: polska kultura religijna, synody w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym, liturgia bożogrobców i krzyżaków, prasoznawstwo. Z regionalnej tematyki poziom rozwoju osiągnęły badania nad dziejami diecezji kieleckiej − duchowieństwo, życie religijne, seminarium duchowne, dzieje parafii i klasztorów, piśmiennictwo, duszpasterstwo z okresu II wojny światowej. Do nurtów rozwijających się należą badania nad księgozbiorami historycznymi i zasobami archiwalnymi. Naczelne miejsce w historiografii diecezjalnej zajmuje ks. Daniel Olszewski − twórca oryginalnego nurtu polskiej kultury religijnej.
The article focuses on the historiographic achievements of 20 priests from the Diocese of Kielce who have written their works in the last half century. The studied material covered about 800 historical works. The research areas which have been widely studied are related to the following subjects: the Polish religious culture, synods in the interwar period, the liturgy of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre and the Teutonic Order, press study. Local subjects under study refer to the history of the Diocese of Kielce: the clergy, religious life, the theological seminary, the history of parishes and monasteries, literature and pastoral work during World War II. The developing trends include research on historical book collections and archival fonds. In the diocesan historiography, a leading figure is Rev. Daniel Olszewski, the creator of the original trend of the Polish religious culture.

The term Armageddon (~Armagedw,n) appears in Rev 16:16. Author tries to interpret this term in the original literary and theological context of the Apocalypse. This article contains three structural points: different exegetical interpretations of the term Armageddon; Armageddon in Rev 16:16 – exegetical-theological analysis of author; conclusions and pastoral demands. This indicates the importance of Rev 16:15 and the symbolic figure of the satanic reality. In Revelation, Armageddon is not a symbol of destruction, but the final victory of God over Satan.

L’articolo ha per lo scopo di studiare quale è lo spazio di svolgimento dell’azione sacerdotale dei cristiani secondo il libro d’Apocalisse. Le diverse opinioni riguardo allo spazio di svolgimento dell’azione sacerdotale hanno diventato il punto di partenza per studiare il tema: „Lo spazio di svolgimento del sacerdozio dei cristiani nell’Apocalisse”. L’articolo racchiude due parti. Nella prima è stato esposto il problema che ha mostrato la presenza del tema del sacerdozio nell’Apocalisse come pure le opinioni riguardo allo spazio delle funzioni dei cristiani-sacerdoti. La seconda parte contiene l’esegesi dei tre testi. Dall’analisi di essi risulta che l’ambiente in cui i cristiani-sacerdoti svolgono le loro funzioni sacerdotali ha sopratutto la dimensione terrestre. I fedeli che hanno ricevuto la dignità sacerdotale fin dall’inizio della loro vita cristiana, cioè dal loro battesimo, svolgono in diversi modi la loro attività che è stata segnata da questa dignità lungo la storia del mondo. Il loro particolare nella realizzazione della loro dignità sacerdotale si mostra nella loro vita nei confronti delle forze ostili. La loro azione sacerdotale si realizza allora nell’atteggiamento di fedeltà e nella prontezza di offrire la propria vita nel martirio.

Wąż (ὄφις) pojawia się w Ap 9, 19; 12, 9; 20, 2 oraz 12, 14–16. W Ap 9, 19 węże stanowią element symbolicznej konnicy realizującej zaplanowaną przez Boga plagę. W pozostałych tekstach są symbolem szatana. W Ap 12, 9 i 20, 9 podkreśla się związek szatana z biblijną historią pierwszego grzechu, określając go jako „starodawnego węża”. Autor akcentuje, że podstawową formą działania szatana jest wprowadzanie w błąd. W kontekście Ap 12, 14–16 wąż pojawia się jako symbol stosowany wymiennie ze smokiem. Możliwe, że symboliczna scena agresji wobec niewiasty (Kościoła) nawiązuje do destrukcyjnego działania szatana przeciw wspólnocie wierzących. Ostatnie zadanie stanowi próba określenia, na ile podstawowy symbol szatana w Ap – δράκων może wiązać się z symboliczną figurą węża. W opracowaniu tematu zwrócono szczególną uwagę na dwie podstawowe perspektywy. Pierwszą z nich tworzy wielopoziomowe tło religijno-historyczne symbolu węża w Apokalipsie. Perspektywę drugą stanowi oryginalna teologia księgi, którą należy uwzględnić. Do jej podstawowych cech należy specyficzny język symboliczny. Autor Apokalipsy, nawiązując do przeszłości, oferuje treści nowe i profetycznie ponadczasowe. Treści te dostrzegalne są również w apokaliptycznym symbolu węża. 
The article is titled “The symbol of the serpent in the Apocalypse of St. John”. Its aim is an exegetical analysis of the term “serpent” (ὄφις). The expression appears in Rev 9:19; 12:9; 20:2 and 12:14-16. In Rev 9:19 snakes are a symbolic element of a cavalry that realizes God’s plan. In other texts the serpent is a symbol of Satan. In Rev 12:9; 20,2 appears the title “the ancient serpent” referring to the biblical story of Gen 3:1-24. It is emphasized that Satan is the tempter. In Rev 12:14-16 the term “serpent” is used as a synonym for the dragon. It is possible that the symbolic scene of aggression towards woman expresses a destructive satanic action against the Church. We also ask a question how much the apocalyptic dragon (δράκων) is a serpent. In the course of exegetical analysis we have paid attention to two  The second is original theology of Rev. One of her basic features is very rich symbolism. The author of Rev. refers to the past, but introduces a new, original content perspectives. The first is a historical and religious background of the serpent symbol in Rev. 
Die Schlange (ὄφις) erscheint in Offb 9,19; 12,9; 20,2 sowie 12,14-16. In Offb 9,19 sind die Schlangen ein Element der symbolischen Reiterei, welche die von Gott vorgesehene Plage vollstreckt. In anderen Texten ist die Schlange ein Symbol des Satans. In Offb12,9 und 20,9 wird die Verbindung zwischen der Schlange und der biblischen Geschichte der Ursünde hergestellt, indem sie als „die alte Schlange“ bezeichnet wird (vgl. Gen 3,1-15). Im Kontext von Offb 12,14-16 erscheint die Schlange als ein Symbol ersatzweise mit dem Drachen. Es ist möglich, dass die symbolische Szene der Aggression gegenüber der Frau (= Kirche) an das destruktive Handeln des Satans gegenüber der laubensgemeinschaft erinnert. Die letzte Aufgabe bildet ein Versuch näher zu bestimmen, inwieweit das grundlegende Symbol des Satans „δράκων” in der Offenbarung des Johannes mit der symbolischen Figur der Schlange zusammenhängt. In der Behandlung des Themas wurde eine besondere Aufmerksamkeit auf zwei grundlegende Perspektiven gelenkt. Die eine bezieht sich auf den vielschichtigen religiös-historischen Hintergrund des Symbols der Schlange in der Offb. Die zweite Perspektive bildet die einzigartige Theologie der Offb, die berücksichtigt werden muss. Zu ihren nterscheidungsmerkmalen gehört die spezifische symbolische Sprache. Der Autor der Offb warnt die kirchliche Gemeinschaft vor der Verharmlosung dieser widerwärtigen spirituellen Macht und zeigt gleichzeitig die Möglichkeiten ihres Bezwingens auf.

Rev. PA Edmund Nowicki PhD, a priest of the Archdiocese of Gniezno i Poznań, was strongly associated with Gorzów Wielkopolski through his priestly ministry and with Gdańsk through his episcopal ministry. The work in the apostolic administration in Gorzów Wielkopolski was particularly difficult for him. The enormous area – 1/7 of Poland’s area, the lack of basic religious ministry tools and the difficulties arising from the then authorities posed extremely big problems in creating the pastoral life in the newly created church unit in these lands. More than five years of his work in Western Pomerania and the Lubusz region brought great achievements in the form of a very well-functioning church organization,only permanent church structures were lacking, but   nfortunately political factors did not lead to their implementation. This success is the fruit of his fortitude, solid theological and legal background and personal sensitivity. Rev. PA Dr Edmund Nowicki is a great Pole, priest and bishop.

Apokalipsa św. Jana zachwyca bogactwem i głębią treści eschatologicznych. Jednak aktualnie, w przestrzeni teologiczno-biblijnej refleksji naukowej tematy eschatologiczne nie są podejmowane zbyt często.  Refleksje zawarte w tym artykule stanowią formę wskazówek o charakterze metodologicznym. Dotyczą one procesu odczytywania eschatologii Ap. Nie można jej interpretować w oderwaniu od badań o charakterze historyczno-literackim czy badań nad etyką ksiegi. Należy uwzględnić także specyficzny charakter profetyzmu Ap. Jednak centralne miejsce zajmują w Ap treści eschatologiczne. Aby interpretować je właściwie  warto uwzględnić niektóre postulaty. Należą do nich: zwrócenie uwagi na  dynamikę eschatologiczną Ap, uwzględnienie wieloznaczności niektórych symboli oraz odczytanie eschatologii księgi w relacji do jej oryginalnej chrystologii i eklezjologii.
The Apocalypse of St. Jana delights with the richness of eschatological content. However, the eschatological themes of the Apocalypse are not a frequent subject of scientific study. The reflections contained in this article take the form of methodological guidelines. They concern the process of interpreting the eschatology of Apocalypse. The Apocalypse should not be interpreted in isolation from historical and literary research. It should also not be interpreted in isolation from ethical research. It should also take into account the specific nature of prophetism of Apocalypse. Eschatological contents contain an important place in this book. In order to interpret them properly, it is necessary note i.a.: eschatological dynamics of the Apocalypse; the ambiguity of some symbols;  the relation of eschatology to christology and ecclesiology.

Rev. Ludwik Grzebień, SJ was a student and then the scientific assistant of Rev. Prof. Stanisław Librowski. Their cooperation began in 1968 when Rev. L. Grzebień’s scientific papers were published. In the same year he began studying at the Institute of Church History, attending Rev. S. Librowski’s seminars. In 1970, Rev. L. Grzebień presented his Master’s dissertation entitled ‘Biblioteka biskupa Hieronima Rozrażewskiego’ (The Library of Bishop Hieronim Rozrażewski) (1542-1600). Just a year after obtaining his master’s degree (1971), he submitted a dissertation entitled ‘Organization of Jesuit libraries in Poland from 16th to 18th century’. Both papers received very good reviews. After defending his doctorate in 1972, Rev. L. Grzebień was offered a position of scientific assistant in the Department of Auxiliary Sciences of History and Methodology of History by Rev. S. Librowski . During his research work in the Catholic University of Lublin, he was distinguished by great scientific diligence. In the academic year 1972/1973, he published five scientific articles. In August 1973, Rev. L. Grzebień travelled to England for a language course, archival research and for the purposes of the next stage of religious formation. He did not return to KUL, devoting himself instead to the realization of his scientific plans connected with the Jesuit order.
Jezuita ks. Ludwik Grzebień był studentem, a następnie asystentem naukowym ks. prof. Stanisława Librowskiego. Ich współpraca rozpoczęła się w 1968 r., kiedy opublikowane zostały prace naukowe ks. L. Grzebienia. W tym samym roku podjął studia w Instytucie Historii Kościoła, uczęszczając na seminariom ks. S. Librowskiego. W 1970 r. ks. L. Grzebień przedstawił pracę magisterską pt. Biblioteka biskupa Hieronima Rozrażewskiego (1542-1600). Już po roku od uzyskania magisterium (1971) złożył dysertację pt. Organizacja bibliotek jezuickich w Polsce od XVI do XVIII wieku. Obydwie parce naukowe uzyskały bardzo dobre oceny recenzentów. Po obronie doktoratu w 1972 r. ks. S. Librowski zaproponował ks. L. Grzebieniowi pracę asystenta naukowego w Katedrze Nauk Pomocniczych Historii i Metodologii Historii. W czasie pracy naukowo-badawczej w KUL odznaczył się dużą pracowitością naukową. W roku akademickim 1972/1973 opublikował pięć artykułów naukowych. W sierpniu 1973 r. ks. L. Grzebień wyjechał do Anglii na kurs językowy, kwerendy archiwalne oraz w celu odbycia kolejnego etapu formacji zakonnej. Z pobytu tego nie wrócił do pracy w KUL, poświęcając się realizacji swoich planów naukowych związanych jednak z zakonem jezuitów.

Rev. Franciszek Pietrzkiewicz was born on 5 September 1858 in Zarszyn, in the Sanok district, where he graduated from a folk school. Then he attended gymnasium in Jasło, with a three-year break for military service. In 1884 he entered the Theological Seminary in Przemyśl. On 22 July 1888, he was ordained a priest and became an assistant curate in Miżyniec in the deanery of Mościce (the Przemyśl district). After two years, on 21 September 1890, he was entrusted with the duties of a vicarius dirigens. In 1892 he passed a competitive exam for a parish priest, and from 20 October 1894 onwards, he ran the parish in Miżyniec as an administrator and later as a parish priest. For a short time, Rev. Pietrzkiewicz also managed the parish in Czyszki. The outbreak of World War I brought an end to his pastoral work in Miżyniec. Due to the danger from the Ukrainians, he moved to the parish of Zgłobień in the deanery of Rzeszów. In the spring of 1919, he became a successor of the late parish priest Rev. Mikołaj Dzierżyński. In spite of difficult financial conditions, he managed to complete numerous investment projects in Zgłobień related to the equipment and decoration of the church, the construction of the church tower and the cemetery fence, a presbytery and outbuildings. At the same time, Rev. Pietrzkiewicz was concerned about the living conditions and morality of the parish inhabitants. He also took care of his own priestly formation and supported numerous pious works. In addition, this priest was active in the social sphere. He was, among others, the head of the board in Kasa Stefczyka (a savings and loan association) in Zgłobień, chaired the Farmers’ Association, supported founding the Voluntary Fire Brigade. His efforts were appreciated by church authorities which awarded him expositorium canonicale. He was also an associate dean of Mościce and a school supervisor. Rev. Franciszek Pietrzkiewicz died on 2 January 1929 at the age of 70, 40 years after his ordination.

Rev. Teofi Lewicki was born on the 10th of October, 1879 in Laszki Murowane. He was a graduate of Gymnasium in Sanok. He finished the formation of priesthood in Seminary in Przemyśl. He got the priestly orders on 31st of January,1899. Then he worked as a vicar in Wesoła (1899-1902), Stojańce (1902-1903), Laszki (1903-1904), Rakszawa (1904) and in Łąka (1904-1910). In the year of 1911 he became a parish priest in Trzeboś. In 1922 he became a vice dean a Sokołów. Apart from his common priestly work, he also engaged in a church renovation and plenty of social works. Rev. Teofil Lewicki retired in 1945. He died on the 21st of September, 1952.

Wraz z końcem II wojny światowej w Prusach Wschodnich przestał funkcjonować Kościół ewangelicko-unijny. Prawnym spadkobiercą stał się Kościół ewangelicko-augsburski w Polsce. Od 1945 r. w parafii luterańskiej w Szczytnie duszpasterzowali duchowni narodowości polskiej. Pierwszym proboszczem parafii był ks. Jerzy Sachs, pochodzący z wielopokoleniowej rodziny pastorskiej. Duszpasterzował w Szczytnie w latach 1945 – 1951. Kolejnym duszpasterzem był ks. Alfred Jagucki. Do Szczytna przybył z Sorkwit. Poza pracą duszpasterską w parafii pełnił urząd seniora diecezji mazurskiej w latach 1958 – 1963. Ks. Henryk Ćmok, był kolejnym duszpasterzem luterańskiej parafii w Szczytnie. Posługiwał siedem lat.
After the end of World War II, the Evangelical-Union Church ceased to exist in East Prussia. The Evangelical-Augsburg Church of Poland became its legal heir. Since 1945, the Lutheran parish of Szczytno was pastored by priests of Polish nationality. The first pastor of the parish was Rev. Jerzy Sachs, who came from a multi-generational pastoral family. He ministered in Szczytno from 1945 to 1951. The succeeding pastor was Rev. Alfred Jagucki. He came to Szczytno from Sorkwity. Besides his pastoral work in the parish, he held the office of senior minister of the Masurian Diocese from 1958 to 1963. Rev. Henryk Ćmok served as the successive pastor of the Lutheran parish in Szczytno. He held the ministry for seven years.

Artykuł nosi tytuł Bluźnierstwo w Apokalipsie św. Jana. Studium teologiczno-biblijne. Punktem odniesienia jest terminologia bezpośrednio związana z bluźnierstwem (βλασφημέω; βλασφημία; βλασφημός). Autor Objawienia mówi o bluźnierstwie na dwa sposoby. Ludzie bluźnią przeciwko Bogu lub Jego naśladowcom (Ap 2,8; 16,9.11.21). Bluźnierstwa są związane z symbolami struktur państwowych, politycznych i ekonomicznych. Są to struktury o charakterze demonicznym (Ap 13,1.5-6; 17,3). Autor Księgi Objawienia ostrzega chrześcijan i zachęca ich do uważnego obserwowania rzeczywistości. Jednocześnie chrześcijanie muszą być przygotowani na słowną agresję w postaci bluźnierstwa.
The article is titled Blasphemy in the Apocalypse of St. John. A theological and biblical study. The point of reference is the terminology directly related to blasphemy (βλασφημέω; βλασφημία; βλασφημός). The author of Revelation speaks of blasphemy in two ways. People blaspheme against God or his followers (Rev 2,8; 16,9.11.21). Blasphemies are associated with symbols of state, political and economic structures. These are structures of a demonic nature (Rev 13,1.5-6; 17,3). The author of Revelation warns Christians and invites them to carefully observe reality. At the same time, Christians must be prepared for verbal aggression in the form of blasphemy.

The thesis concentrate on presentation of Rev. Jerzy Jan Zawadzki’s live and activity from the perspective of the Security Service – a service which in Polish People’s Republic fought with the Catholic Church, in particular with clergy. The Public Service started invigilation of Rev. Zawadzki in 1969, when he went to seminary and they finished it in 1986, when an operation Harcerzyk was finished. In light of information which they collected, they compiled a profile of Rev. Zawadzki, which showed that he was responsible of clericalization of youngs people, that he was a cheap politician on the pulpit and an oppositionist.

CEL NAUKOWY: Podstawowy cel naukowy stanowi wskazanie na główne perspektywy badawcze prezentowane przez egzegetów zajmujących się problemem krytyki imperialnego Rzymu w Ap. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: Imperium Rzymskie jest postrzegane w Ap jako rzeczywistość wroga wobec chrześcijaństwa. Teksty Ap związane z Rzymem mogą być odczytywane w różny sposób. Prowadzone są badania dotyczące Sitz im Leben Ap, jej złożonej symboliki i związków z literaturą starożytną. Ap jest jednak także księgą należącą do kanonu ksiąg natchnionych. Dostrzegalna w Ap krytyka Rzymu może być odczytywana także w relacji do eschatologii i profetycznego wymiaru księgi. Zwrócono zatem uwagę na główne sposoby interpretacji obecne we współczesnej dyskusji egzegetycznej. PROCES WYWODU: W pierwszej kolejności poruszono krótko problemy związane z ustaleniem historycznych realiów powstania Ap. Dalej zaprezentowano krótko teksty i symbole Ap, które są odczytywane jako aluzje do imperial‑ nego Rzymu. Następnie omówiono trzy podstawowe perspektywy badawcze dostrzegalne w literaturze naukowej. Należą do nich: opis zawartej w Ap kry‑ tyki Rzymu w szeroko pojętej perspektywie historycznej, zwrócenie uwagi na jej wymiar etyczny i teologiczno-moralny oraz odczytanie jej w perspektywie profetycznej i eschatologicznej. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Analiza współczesnej literatury egzegetycznej związanej z krytyką imperialnego Rzymu w Ap pozwala dostrzec zróżnicowanie perspektyw badawczych. Niektórzy egzegeci koncentrują się na badaniach nad szeroko pojętym kontekstem historyczno-literackim obecnego w Ap zjawiska. Inni dostrzegają w symbolach antyrzymskich ponadczasowe treści o charakterze etycznym lub teologiczno-moralnym. Ponadto szeroka grupa egzegetów bazując na badaniach o charakterze historycznym analizuje problem krytyki Rzymu w perspektywie profetycznej i eschatologicznej księgi. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Egzegeci traktujący Ap jako pismo o szczególnym charakterze religijnym nie powinni tracić kontaktu ze środowiskiem naukowym zajmującym się aspektami historyczno-literackimi, historyczno-religijnymi czy filologicznymi. Z drugiej strony, prowadząc badania o charakterze teologicznym nie należy pomijać przesłania profetycznego zawartego w krytyce imperialnego Rzymu.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The basic scientific aim of this article is to indicate the main research perspectives presented by exegetes who analyze the problem of criticism of imperial Rome in the Revelation of St. John. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: In the Rev the Roman Empire is seen as hostile to Christianity. Texts related to Rome can be interpreted in different ways. The exegetes are analyzing the Sitz im Leben,  complex symbolism, relationships with ancient literature. However Rev belongs to canon of the Holy Bible. The problem of polemics with imperial Rome can also considered in relation to the eschatology and propheticism of Rev. To define the main ways of exegetical interpretation were analyzed contemporary scientific publications. Then the main research stands were synthesized. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: First, were briefly discussed problems related to historical circumstances of the book’s writing. At the second point were presented texts and symbols of Rev, which refer to imperial Rome. Third: are discussed three main research perspectives present in the scientific literature. These are: historical perspective; ethical, theological and moral dimension; an eschatological and prophetic perspective. RESEARCH RRESULTS: Analysis of contemporary exegetical literature allows for the following conclusions. Some exegetes focus their research on the historical context of criticism of Rome in Rev. They limit research to the historical aspect. Others go further. In anti-Roman symbols they see timeless ethical and moral-theological content. In addition, a large group of exegetes associate their historical research with the eschatological and prophetic dimensions of Rev. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS: It is important that researchers who see in Rev a book inspired by God, don’t lose contact with scientists studying historical-literary, historical-religious and philological aspects of this book. However, in research from a theological perspective exegetes should not ignore the prophetic message contained in the criticism of imperial Rome.

After World War II at the Theological Faculty of Jagiellonian University in Cracow the dissertations in the area of the Holy Scripture were written by thirty two priests. Dissertations connected with the Bible were written at the seminar of Biblical Study of the Old Testament and at the seminar of Biblical Science of the New Testament. The priests wrote them under the guidance of the following lecturers: rev. Józef Kaczmarczyk, rev. Aleksy Klawek, rev. Władysław Smereka and rev. Piotr Stach. Twelve theses concerned issuses connected with the Old Testament, nineteen with the New Testament. One dissertation had both the Old and the New Testament connections. Most of papers were the translations from original languages with the comments of some parts of the Bible.Some of the priests with doctorates were employed at the theological departments of Polish universities and in seminaries. Doctors promoted by Theological Faculty of Jagiellonion University had great impact on the development of biblical thought and popularization of the Holy Scripture among the faithful in Poland in the second half of XX century.

Many saints have left behind journals of the soul, autobiographies or spiritual notes. The authors of this kind of writings can also be found among the Salesian Family, e.g.: blessed. Rev. B. Markiewicz, blessed A. da Costa, blessed Rev. J. Kowalski, blessed A. Marvelli and Rev. S. Mannucci. The Notebook…, authored by a Salesian missionary in China, Rev. Wieczorek, is an interesting example of such spiritual writings. This article is the first part of the study of the manuscript. It undertakes two topics: presentation of the author’s biography (family environment, stages of formation) and presentation of the text (physical description, authorship, chronology, purpose and method of record keeping, internal structure, the history of the manuscript, subsequent editions and commentaries).

In April 1927 the Holy Father Pious XI appointed Rev. Karol Radoński, pastor of the church of the Most Holy Heart of Jesus and St. Florian in Poznań, coadjutor bishop of August Hlond, the archbishop of Gniezno and Poznań. In the literature of the subject it is assumed that the Episcopal nomination took place on 8 April, 1927, even though from an analysis of press accounts of the period it follows that the news was made public only on 22 April. The article, based on source documents, describes the circumstances of the nomination of Rev. K. Radoński as coadjutor bishop and the press context of the event. The nomination was preceded by a press leak about Rev. Józef Kłos, editor-in-chief of ,,Przewodnik Katolicki" as supposedly suggested for the post by Primate Hlond.

The article is an attempt to show collecting achievements of Rev. Jan Wiśniewski (1876–1943), who after building an unusual, astonishingly vast and versatile collection of art and national memorabilia, donated it to the Diocesan Museum in Sandomierz. His collecting was rooted in the 19th century, in the spirit of growing patriotic awareness and interests in the history of one’s own country, resulted from the lack of independence. Apart from collecting, Rev. Wiśniewski conducted comprehensive research. As an amateur historian, he edited and published at his own cost 15 volumes of the Monografia dekanatów and Historyczne opisy kościołów. He started his collection in Radom, then continued accumulating items in Borkowice where he became a parish priest. It was there, in the parsonage, that he arranged the Museum of National Memorabilia. His exhibits were often displayed as loans outside his museum. As confirmed in written sources, Rev. Jan Wiśniewski had many contacts among collectors, antiquarians, art dealers and bibliophiles, some of them of great renown. His collection became a cornerstone of the Diocesan Museum in Sandomierz, which seems to be his intention from the start, as much as saving from demolition the historic elements of churches’ interiors. He was building his collection in order to make it public and pass on to the following generations.
Przedmiotem artykułu jest próba ukazania kolekcjonerstwa ks. Jana Wiśniewskiego (1876–1943), który ofiarował do Muzeum Diecezjalnego w Sandomierzu niezwykłe zbiory o charakterze artystycznym oraz patriotyczno- narodowym, zadziwiające bogactwem i różnorodnością. Jego kolekcjonerstwo miało korzenie w XIX w., w atmosferze dojrzewania myśli patriotycznych oraz zainteresowania historią własnego kraju, które budziło się w okresie niewoli narodowej. Oprócz działalności kolekcjonerskiej ks. Wiśniewski prowadził szeroko zakrojone badania. Jako historyk amator, opracował i wydał własnym nakładem 15 tomów Monografii dekanatów i Historycznych opisów kościołów. Gromadził swoje zbiory początkowo w Radomiu, a następnie w Borkowicach, gdzie na plebanii kościoła, w którym został proboszczem, urządził Muzeum Pamiątek Narodowych. Zbiory wypożyczał na liczne wystawy. Materiały źródłowe informują o szerokich kontaktach ks. Jana Wiśniewskiego z kolekcjonerami, antykwariuszami, marszandami i bibliofilami, nie brak wśród nich postaci wybitnych. Kolekcja ks. Jana Wiśniewskiego legła u podstaw Muzeum Diecezjalnego w Sandomierzu, można więc stwierdzić, że muzeum to oprócz zachowania od zniszczenia zabytkowych elementów wnętrz kościołów, jest również muzeum intencyjnym. Powstało bazując na prywatnych zbiorach kolekcjonera, którego zamysłem od początku gromadzenia zbiorów było ich upowszechnienie i przekazanie następnym pokoleniom.

The article presents the strange vicissitudes of one of Cyprian Norwid's poems, namely, Italiam! Italiam! At present it is among the Norwidians that survived the ravages of war and were collected by Rev. Józef Jarzębowski MIC – a Marian. Rev. Jarzębowski (1897-1964) for years collected Polish national mementoes. Today they have become the core of the Museum bearing his name in Licheń Stary near Konin in the sanctuary complex of the Matka Boska Licheńska basilica. In the present sketch a description of all the collection and of its outlay is omitted, albeit it is hard to refrain from praising the standard of the organization of the Museum. The article concentrates on a description of manuscripts connected with Norwid that were collected by Rev. Jarzębowski and since 2007 have been in Licheń; and earlier they were kept in the English seat of Marians in Fawley Court near London. They are: 1) Italiam! Italiam!, the manuscript of the poem written at the turn of 1845 and 1846; 2) a letter to Władysław Zamoyski written at the end of June or beginning of July 1866; 3) a study of a portrait, sent to Leonard Niedźwiedzki; 4) [nine satisfied questions:] 1. Why conscription groundlessly changed into violence… 5) [an appeal to the Russian statesmen:] “Russian Statesmen!...”.

Limiting Fr. Janusz Stanisław Pasierb’s poetry exclusively to references to the Bible and the salvation history restricts understanding of the phenomenon of his poetry. Noticing the dialogicality of the speaking subject allows for grasping the most relevant in his poetry – experience accessible to the senses is moved to a higher level. The poet accurately and with minute precision notes down what is available to the senses; also, being aware of entanglement in time and space of human experience, he incorporates into his poetry a small surplus – he rips the experience from the horizontally oriented world and immerses it in transcendent reality. Observation and endurance are pillars of thinking about lyricism; Pasierb’s poems show how the prospect of eternity consolidates the value of a single experience.

Te article describes the life of rev. Tadeusz Szetela (1925-2008) priest of Przemyśl and Rzeszów dioceses. His older brothers, Jan Bolesław and Stanisław Kazimierz who devoted themselves to God had an unquestionable impact on life path choice by young Tadeusz. Te author presents also difcult reality during T. Szetela’s seminary years, as well as work as a priest and catechist when he had to deal with laicization and antichurch tendencies among Polish society. Moreover, Tadeusz Szetela during his life participated in many national and patriotic events, as well as ministry activities (e.g. he worked as a prison pastor). Humble and priesthood devoted, rev. Tadeusz Szetela was awarded by Church authorities, e.g. he was promoted to a Chaplain of His Holiness rank in 1998.

The eminent German medievalist, Joseph Koch, assumed that Neoplatonism had been handed down to the Middle Ages basically in two forms: the one given to the Neoplatonist outlook by St. Augustine, the other being the result of the reworking of Neoplatonist themes by Pseudo-Dionysius. Rev. Prof. Kurdziałek, when quoting Koch’s opinion, used to remark, that this bipartite typology was not adequate as it failed to take account of another variety of Neoplatonism that had been operative in the shaping of medieval intellectual culture, namely the Boethian Neoplatonism. Few scholars in Poland in the second half of the 20th century devoted much attention to Boethius’ philosophy; yet contrary to the general trend, Rev. Prof. Kurdziałek constantly discussed issues and themes concerning Boethius in his lectures, monographs and articles. The author of the Consolation of Philosophy was never viewed by him as a mere intermediary or transmitter standing between antiquity and the Middle Ages; rather he presented Boethius as a thinker that was seminal in shaping medieval philosophy up to and inclusive the 12th century and even later on, even though his later influence had not been predominant. This article, based upon the study and analysis of Rev. Prof. Kurdziałek’s output aims to present his contribution to the area of Boethian studies as well as contributions made in this field by his disciples and followers.
Wybitny mediewista niemiecki, Joseph Koch twierdził, że neoplatonizm został przekazany wiekom średnim w dwóch zasadniczych postaciach, a mianowicie augustyńskiej i dionizjańskiej. Ksiądz profesor Marian Kurdziałek nawiązując do tej wypowiedzi Josepha Kocha zwykł był mawiać, że tę typologię średniowiecznych nurtów neoplatońskich należy uzupełnić o jeszcze jedną odmianę neoplatonizmu, neoplatonizm boecjański. W drugiej połowie XX wieku filozofią Boecjusza zajmowało się, zwłaszcza w Polsce, niewielu badaczy. Tymczasem, ks. Kurdziałek stale poświęcał Boecjuszowi wiele uwagi w swoich wykładach kursorycznych i monograficznych, czy też w swoich artykułach. Boecjusz nie był przez niego traktowany jako jedynie „pośrednik” pomiędzy starożytnością a średniowieczem, ale jako ten myśliciel, który w sposób zasadniczy uformował filozofię średniowieczną do XII wieku włącznie, a i później jego wpływ jest widoczny, choć już nie tak dominujący. Artykuł na podstawie analizy artykułów ks. prof. Kurdziałka przedstawia jego wkład do studiów nad Boecjuszem oraz prezentuje dokonania jego uczniów w tej właśnie dziedzinie.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane aspekty życia społeczno-religijnego rzymskokatolickiej społeczności Lwowa w Związku Sowieckim w latach 1945-1991. Kościół katolicki na ziemiach polskich przyłączonych do ZSRS został podporządkowany prawodawstwu komunistycznemu, które walczyło z religią i szerzyło ateizm. Struktury kościelne zostały zlikwidowane, a duchowieństwo i wierni poddani represjom. Pomimo tego Kościół jako wspólnota wierzących trwał oraz wykorzystywał różne możliwości do dalszej działalności. W artykule ukazano postawy lwowskiego duchowieństwa wobec władz sowieckich oraz ich niejawną aktywność duszpasterską wśród wiernych. Szczególną uwagę skupiono na duchownych, którzy stali się symbolami lwowskiego duszpasterstwa po II wojnie światowej. Byli to księża: Karol Jastrzębski, Stanisław Płoszyński, Zygmunt Hałuniewicz i Rafał Władysław Kiernicki, farnciszkanin.
The article presents selected aspects of the social and religious life of the Roman Catholic community of Lviv in the Soviet Union over the years 1945-1991. The Catholic Church in the Polish territories annexed by the USSR was subordinated to communist legislation, which fought religion and spread atheism. Ecclesiastical structures were dismantled, and the clergy and believers were repressed. Despite this, the Church as a community of believers continued and used various opportunities for continued activity. The article presents the attitudes of the Lviv clergy towards the Soviet authorities and their covert pastoral activity among the faithful. Particular attention was paid to the clergy who became symbols of the Lviv pastoral care after World War II. They were priests: Karol Jastrzębski, Stanisław Płoszyński, Zygmunt Hałuniewicz and Rafał Władysław Kiernicki, a Franciscan.

Nell’arco dell’Apocalisse viene usato termine greco so¯ te¯ria, cioè salvezza, che ha una portata rilevante in tutto il Nuovo Testamento. Ma ci si chiede quale sia il senso vero e proprio di questo termine nel contesto di Ap 7, 9-17. Inserito nella visione di „grande folla che nessuno poteva contare” termine salvezza sembra di aver acquistato un senso che allude solamente alla liberazione da sofferenza terrena, causata in parte dal mondo ostile a Dio e a tutti i suoi fedeli. Tuttavia elementi simbolici adoperati nella visione ci permettono di trarre conclusioni molto più ampie. Infatti salvezza, pur essendo ancora non finalmente compiuta – come si vedrà soltanto alla fine del libro nella visione finale di Gerusalemme celeste con tutti i suoi dettagli − nondimeno essa già esprime uno stato dei fedeli che è definitamente nuovo, riguardo al loro stato precedente, ed è in stesso tempo escatologico. Autore dell’Apocalisse presenta un’escatologia realizzata, cioè dal momento dell’offerta compiuta dall’Agnello essa è già presente nella storia. Questi due livelli: uno futuro e completo e altro realizzato ma ancora da compiersi finalmente in mondo nuovo si intrecciano a vicenda. Lo si osserva chiaramente per quanto riguarda il termine salvezza. Conclusioni che si possono fare alla base di lettura dell’Ap 7, 9-17 ci aiutano a definire la salvezza dei fedeli come uno stato realizzato da Dio e da Agnello. In questo senso la salvezza appartiene a Loro secondo espressione del libro. I fedeli invece, in questo loro stato da salvati, hanno accesso alla comunione con Dio e Agnello che significa che hanno piena partecipazione ai beni spirituali ed eterni e − da altra parte – questo vuol dire un radicale cambiamento del loro stato precedente caratterizzato dalla sofferenza e ostilità da parte del mondo.

Rev. Stanisław Franciszek Bełch was born on 13th of January 1904 in Róz˙anka. He attended the secondary school in Jasło. In 1924 he entered the Seminary in Przemyśl and on 29th of June 1928 he received the sacrament of ordinations. He conducted pastoral work in Jasienica Rosielna, Przemyśl, Dobromil, Sokołów Małopolski, Krosno and Wrocanka. In 1939 he was appointed Secretary General of the Catholic Association of Husbands and Assistant of Christian Trade Unions in Przemyśl. During World War II he left Poland. He worked and studied in Rome, he was a chaplain in the Polish Army in France. Then he made his way to Great Britain. At the break of the 1940s he was a chaplain working with nuns in the United States and then he returned to Great Britain. Rev. Stanisław Bełch engaged in many activities while being abroad: he was a researcher, a publisher, a journalist, an educator and a social activist. His research was mainly connected with history and concerned Jan Długosz, Paweł Włodkowic and St Stanislaus. Apart from that he defended Pope Pius XII’s good name. St Thomas Aquinas’ “Summa Theologica” was another sphere of his interests. He translated three volumes of this work into Polish. He also made translations from Latin and tried to promote a 17th century drama about Bolesław the Bold’s penance in Poland. Rev. Stanisław Bełch was also active as an editor. He edited the weekly „Jestem Polakiem” („I Am a Pole”). He established the Catholic Editor Fund, and then the Catholic Editor Centre „Veritas” in England. He published books and Polish magazines: „Życie” („Life”), „Gazeta Niedzielna” („Sunday Gazette”) and „Droga” („The Way”). He also worked as a journalist, writing articles on theology, history and social life. Owing to his efforts in 1962-1986 St Thomas Aquinas' “Summa Theologica” was translated into Polish and published. The priest also worked on the social and educational fields. As a military chaplain he gave lectures on theology for officers. He set up The Circle of Inner Life and The St Thomas Aquinas Circle in England. He was the initiator of the Polish Catholic University Association „Veritas”. He was a chaplain in the Enfield school and a university chaplain. He established the St Stanislaus Hospice in London and St John Kanty Hospice in Cork as well as a girls' secondary school in Pitsford and a school for Polish boys in Fawley Court. Apart from that he appeared on the Vatican Radio, he led retreats during the Lent in the Netherlands and Ireland. He also supported Catholic communities in Poland. In July 1987 Rev. Stanisław Bełch moved to Korczyn in the Przemyśl Diocese. He died on 3rd of June and was buried at the Jasło cemetery. Later his body was transferred to the cemetery in Sobniów. After his death efforts were made to start the process of his beatification.

Czeluśniak was born on 20th November 1907 in Dębowiec, the “Polish La Salette”. He took the first religious profession on 9th September 1927 and was sent to study philosophy at the Gregorian University in Rome. In that period he took perpetual religious vows on 7th October 1931. He was ordained to the priesthood on 2nd July 1933 by Marchetti Cardinal Selvaggiani. The Roman studies were crowned with a doctor's degree in philosophy and licentiate in canon law and theology. Thus thoroughly educated he returned to his home Dębowiec and the monastery to hold professorship in the then Theological Seminary. At the same time he was active in developing the cult of Our Lady of La Salette. Due to war activities, he escaped to Hungary to save his life. He worked there as a chaplain in several camps of internment in the vicinity of Budapest, and participated in the works and organisation of the “Catholic Universal University”. From 11th February 1940 onwards the University, in the form of various courses, was conducted in military camps and settlements of civil refugees. We do not know any details from the life of Rev. Czeluśniak after his arrest in the camp in Mathausen, where he received number 102582, nor late in Dachau, where his number was 134362. He lived to see liberation on 29th April 1945. After gaining independence, he returned to the country. Dedicated to the cause of the Church he took lectures in theology in the academic year of 1945/46 in Darmsstadt, Germany. Then, following an instruction from his superiors, he left for Argentina. There he was wholeheartedly dedicated to the charisma of his Congregation. This new period in his life was marked with pastoral care abroad (34 years). One should distinguish the following periods in Rev. Czeluśniak's life then: professorship (academic work) in the Theological Seminary, being superior of the home, parish priest, and provincial (superior) of the vice-province in the Queen of the Apostles in Argentina; he also worked as an editor-in-chief in the “Posłaniec Matki Boskiej Saletyńskiej” [The Messenger of Our Lady of La Salette]. In 1979 he returned to Argentinean Olivet, then without his “organisational” duties, as a resident – missionary and confessor. He died on 10th October 1983.

The topic of this article is devoted to the discussion of the ideas of cultural and social activities propounded by Professor of History, Rev. Jonas Totoraitis (1872-1941). It also deals with a question of what conditions were present for their implementation in the early twentieth century. The first idea to establish the Society to Investigate the History of Lithuania was largely predicated on his professional background as historian. Another idea was indebted to his perception of the duty of the priest. It manifested itself in the aspiration to set up a special organization (association) of Roman Catholic clergy to tackle world-view issues of society at large. Another field of Rev. Totoraitisʼ activities was organizing youth in the countryside. His most significant contribution was theoretical: a study entitled “Catholic Youth Associations”, published in the journal “Vadovas” (Leader), and some time later republished in a separate booklet “The Guardianship of Youth and Its Associations”.

Wywodzący się spod Grudziądza wybitny badacz Pomorza i długoletni prezes Towarzystwa Naukowego w Toruniu ks. Alfons Mańkowski (1870-1941) jeszcze w 1912 r. zainteresował się Mazurami. Przyjechał do Rucianego i Ukty, odwiedził starowierców w Wojnowie, potem zawitał do Mikołajek, Giżycka i Starych Juch. Dwa lata później dotarł do Działdowa, zarejestrować zniszczenia dokonane przez Rosjan w pierwszej wojnie światowej. Z obu wyjazdów wydrukował dłuższe relacje w poznańskim Tygodniku Ilustrowanym „Praca”. Duszpasterzując w latach 1910-1920 w Złotowie pod Lubawą, napisał kilka opracowań o ruchu polskim na tych ziemiach, w tym także w 1922 roku opublikował w dodatku do „Gazety Gdańskiej” pod nazwą „Pomorze” dwa listy Gustawa Gizewiusza. Warmii poświęcił kilka ważnych publikacji, w tym o piśmiennictwie polskim, duchownych z Warmii, którzy nieśli posługę religijną na Pomorzu. Szerzej zajął się zwyczajami i wierzeniami warmińskimi. W omówieniu ich dopomógł mu Andrzej Samulowski z Gietrzwałdu.
A prominent Pomeranian researcher from Grudziądz and long-standing president of the Scientific Society in Toruń, the Reverend Alfons Mańkowski (1870-1941), took an interest in Mazuria as early as 1912. He came to Ruciane and Ukta, visited the Old Believers in Wojnowo, then Mikołajki, Giżycko and Stare Juchy. Two years later he arrived in Działdowo, to record the destruction wrought by the Russians in the First World War. From both journeys he printed longer reports in the Poznan illustrated weekly “Praca”. While pastoring in 1910-1920 in Złotów near Lubawa, he wrote several studies on the Polish movement in these lands, including the publication in 1922 of two letters by Gustaw Gizewiusz in a supplement to the “Gazeta Gdańska” called “Pomorze”. He devoted several important publications to Warmia, including the papers on Polish literature, on clergymen from Warmia who carried out religious services in Pomerania. He took a broader look at Warmian customs and beliefs. He was assisted in this study by Andrzej Samulowski from Gietrzwałd.

Opis:
The Lvov priest, theologian, publisher and printing house owner, Otton Hołyński (1839-1882) from the year 1870 also engaged in editorial activity, preparing various periodicals, intended – which is quite interesting – for entirely different readers. In January 1870 “Chata” appeared as the first. It was a periodical for the common people, edited and signed by Hołyński from September 1870 until the end of 1878. Initially the periodical appeared with a political supplement “Nowiny”, which evolved into an independent periodical. From the beginning, the subscribers of “Chata” and “Nowiny” received a free calendar (“Kalendarz Chaty”) at the end of each year. Rev. Hołyński’s editorial output intended for the second group of readers – priests – consisted of “Unia”, edited and signed by him from March to August 1871; “Wiadomości Kościelne”, an informational biweekly published and edited by him from 1873; “Bonus Pastor”, a biweekly published from 1877, with Hołyński as owner and publisher until the end of his life and editor until issue No. 13 from June 28, 1878.

The text, which follows the teachings of the Rev. Aleksander Zienkiewicz, a legendary academic chaplain from Wrocław, is an attempt to elicit and discuss his anthropological thought. The first part of the text emphasizes the inseparability of Zienkiewicz’s theology from anthropology. His discussion of God constitutes a discussion of man and, conversely, he never regards man as an isolated being-in-itself, but always in relation to the Creator. This thought underpins the teachings of the Rev. Aleksander Zienkiewicz on the sense of life of manor human pursuit of happiness. Furthermore, his teachings on the structure of man as a being consisting of two spheres of power: upper (reason and will) and lower (desires and feelings) and the risks incurred by disturbances in their proper functioning are explained. The final part of the text forms a recommendation of a preferred model of human relations with particular focus on the necessity to respect human dignity.

Form Blessed Rev. Jerzy Popieluszko and the content of his sermons, preached in the church Stanislaus Kostka in Warsaw's Żoliborz already permanently etched in Polish history. Celebrated by him during martial law masses for the country attracted crowds of the faithful, and the content of homilies were full of patriotic and historical aspects. “Żoliborz preacher” in their teaching often referred to the events connected with the history of Poland, as well as profiles of genuine patriots to show a true and lasting values, as well as a remedy for man during the communist enslavement. Images of Polish history in the ministry, “the words” served Rev. Popieluszko to show the source of hope and witness the strength and, above all, to the example of the rebirth of the nation, even the most tragic moments of history. Using the historical aspects of the “martyr of communism”, he also wanted to show where lies the cause of the fall of man and the nation, and how, building on God, tormented society can be reborn.

Ferdynand Jacobi wurde 1882 in Łęczyca geboren. Im Jahre 1904 wurde er zum Prister in Warszawa geweiht. Während seiner pristerischen Tätigkeit baute man die Kirchen in Błonie Łęczyckie und Godzinów. Er arbeitete sowohl als katholischer Religionslehrer an den sakralen Oberschulen als auch als Katholischer Erzieher an Pristerseminarwn in Łódź. Er war aucg Rektor des Pristersieminars. Er war Sachkenner von der sakralen Kunst und dem Kirchgesang. Er übte viele wichtige Tätigkeiten in der bischöflichen Verwaltung und im Bischofsgericht aus. In den letzten Jahren seines Lebens war er Pfarrer in der St. Anna Geimende in Łódź. Am 15. 08. 1941 kam er in Kolncentrationlader in Ausschwitz ums Leben.

Artykuł dotyczy pojęcia odpowiedzialności w ujęciu księdza Franciszka Mirka i jej roli w życiu społecznym i budowaniu wspólnoty. Pierwsza część artykułu dotyczyć będzie postaci księdza Mirka, która jest postacią wyjątkową, aczkolwiek w polskiej socjologii zapomnianą. Odpowiedzialność jest często definiowana jako relacja działającego podmiotu do swych własnych, wolnych i świadomych czynów, polegająca na tym, że ponosi on związane z tymi czynami konsekwencje. Zgodnie z treścią odpowiedzialności. Wyróżnia się odpowiedzialność cywilną, związaną z obowiązkiem naprawienia komuś krzywdy, odpowiedzialność karną, która obejmuje działania przestępcze, odpowiedzialność moralną podmiotu za dobro i zło urzeczywistnione przezeń w działaniu. Ksiądz Mirek podkreślał, że tylko obywatel z poczuciem odpowiedzialności za dobro wspólne może przyczyniać się do dobra ojczyzny i społeczeństwa.
The article concerns the concept of responsibility by Franciszek Mirek in relation to social life and the creation of community. The first part is about priest Franciszek Mirek himself, who is an exceptional figure in Polish sociology – although unfortunately, he has been forgotten. Responsibility is often defined as the relation of an acting subject to its own free and the deliberate acts which are associated with bearing adequate consequences. In accordance with the content of responsibility the following stand out: civil liability, which is associated with the obligation to repair any attempt to bring another to harm, criminal responsibility, which includes – criminal activities, and moral responsibility of the entity for good and evil embodied by him in action. Franciszek Mirek emphasized that only a citizen who truly knows – responsibility for the common good may contribute to the good of the country and society.

 Rev. Jan Macha, a priest of the Diocese of Katowice, during the Second World War established a charity organization, whose activity was questioned by the Germans. Fr. Macha was arrested, imprisoned, sentenced to death and guillotined on December 3, 1942. In 2012, the Archbishop Wiktor Skworc made efforts to initiate the beatification process of the Silesian martyr. Focusing on following the procedures established by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in a consistent and faithful way, the author does not avoid mentioning the difficult moments of the process. 
Ks. Jan Macha, kapłan diecezji katowickiej, podczas II wojny światowej stworzył organizację charytatywną, której działalność została zakwestionowana przez Niemców. Duchowny został aresztowany, uwięziony, skazany na karę śmierci i 3 grudnia 1942 r. ścięty na gilotynie. W 2012 r. abp Wiktor Skworc rozpoczął starania o wyniesienie ks. Machy na ołtarze. Artykuł przybliża kulisy i kolejne etapy (diecezjalny i rzymski) procesu beatyfikacyjnego śląskiego męczennika. Zwracając uwagę na konsekwentne i wierne trzymanie się procedur, wytyczonych przez Kongregację Spraw Kanonizacyjnych, autor nie unika wskazania trudnych momentów towarzyszących procesowi.

The life and creative output of Rev. Nikodem Ludomir Cieszyński (1886-1942) was marked by significant events in the life of the Polish nation and state. He was born in 1886 in Koźmin but his entire pastoral ministry was connected with Poznań where he was ordained to priesthood in 1910. His activity as preacher and journalist developed in the period of national captivity, the events of the Great War and the times of interwar Poland. Subsequent significant events in the life of the Polish nation and state found their reflection in the writings of Rev. Cieszyński. His homilies, journalism, and above all editorship of the ,,Roczniki Katolickie" ("Catholic Annuals") - an exceptional case in Polish ecclesial historiography - made up a large part of his activity. The regaining of independence by Poland in 1918 was portrayed by him as an extraordinary event, the intervention of Divine Providence – hence such a prominent role of the idea of a Catholic  Poland in his writings. To this idea he remained faithful until the end of his life, which similarly to many Polish priests was terminated by the tragic events of the Second World   War.

In the article that is based mainly on archive materials that were unknown until now a biography of Rev. Prelate Jan Świderski (1888-1959) is presented. In the 1920s and in the early 1930s he was a leading figure in the Catholic Church in the Soviet Podolia. At that time he had to manage the Kamieniec Diocese that in its borders comprised the former territory of the Podolia Province. Rev. Świderski, as one of the few Podolia priests who left Podolia in fear of Bolsheviks returned to his diocese at the end of 1920. He worked in the parishes of Zieńkowce, Wońkowce and Bar, where most Catholics were of Polish origin, and he carried out the duties first of the vicar-general, and from 1926 of the apostolic administrator of the Kamieniec Diocese. Like many other Polish Catholic priests in the USSR he experienced all kinds of insults, persecutions and repressions from the Communist regime. At the beginning of 1930 he was arrested and in the famous trial of a group of Roman-Catholic priests in the Soviet Ukraine he was sentenced to death, which was then converted to 10 years in camp. After he returned to Poland in 1932 as one of the political prisoners exchanged by the USSR and Poland he started work in the Łuck Diocese in Volhynia. The outbreak of the Second World War forced him to leave the area again. After the war was ended he finally settled in the Włocławek Diocese, where he worked until his death.

Rev. Wacław Tokarek was a priest of the Archdiocese of Łódź. He was born on January 15, 1914 in Łódź. On August 15, 1936 he was ordained a priest by Bishop W. Jasiński. On October 6, 1941 he was arrested by the Gestapo in Pabianice. He was imprisoned at Dachau concentration camp. He worked for the Poles in Munich and the region near this city. He was an editor of, among others, "Słowo Katolickie", "Słowo Polskie". In 1950 he went to France, where he edited the magazine: "Polska Wierna" and "Słowo Katolickie". He helped in pastoral work in Paris. In 1969 he returned to Germany, where he settled permanently. On 1 November 1970 he became a parish priest of the Polish Catholic Mission in Dortmund. He died there on July 2, 1990. Immediately after the liberation of the camp, he began ministering to his countrymen. By sharing their wanderer’s fate through the written word, he provided opportunities to protect the language, culture and customs learnt in the family home. The documents cited below exemplify his pastoral struggle in the service of  God, the Church and the country.

Działalność wydawnicza ks. Franciszka Blachnickiego w latach 1965-1981 była związana z utworzonym przez niego w latach sześćdziesiątych oazowym Ruchem Światło-Życie (w latach 1969-1976 pod nazwą Ruch Żywego Kościoła)1. Szeroką działalność, jaką rozwinął w tym okresie, udało mu się podjąć dzięki zaangażowaniu i odwadze współpracownic i współpracowników, na których mógł liczyć. On sam jednak był inicjatorem wszystkich działań związanych z procesem wydawniczym i brał za nie pełną odpowiedzialność. Nikt poza ks. Blachnickim nie znał również wszystkich kontaktów osób i miejsc zaangażowanych w proces wydawniczy. Mimo utworzenia całego podziemnego wydawnictwa oraz wydania wielu tytułów publikacji zwartych i ciągłych ten aspekt jego działalności nigdy nie został całościowo opracowany2. W publikacjach poświęconych zagadnieniu drugiego obiegu w omawianym okresie opisano wiele niezależnych wydawnictw powstałych w latach siedemdziesiątych oraz związanych z działalnością wydawniczą środowisk opozycyjnych3. Utworzone przez ks. Blachnickiego bez zgody władz Wydawnictwo Światło-Życie ze swoją szeroką działalnością niewątpliwie wpisuje się w dzieje drugiego obiegu w PRL. Działalność wydawnicza ks. Blachnickiego była stale inwigilowana i zwalczana przez Służbę Bezpieczeństwa.

The presented paper analyzes the text of Rev 11:15–18. The analysis showed that the divine judgment depicted in the discussed text has two dimensions. First, it is the reward for the faithful which is defined as “giving reward” (dounai ton misthon). This reward is being given to the faithful (designed as douloi, phoboumenoi to onoma, prophetai, hagioi). The other aspect of the judgment is a negative one. The act of punishment is expressed by the verbs krino and diaphtheiro. The people being judged and punished are defined as nekroi and diaphtheriontes ten gen. The term nekroi, in the author’s opinion, is to be understood in a spiritual meaning. The sentence pronounced on the culprits is a typical example of retributive justice. Because the term nekroi is to be understood spiritually (i.e., the matter is “the spiritually dead”) one cannot see in Rev 11:15–18 a direct announcement of the last judgment. The analysis of the following context shows that the beginning of the last judgment is performed by means of events depicted in Rev 12. The main criterion of affiliation regarding one of the two groups (the rewarded or the punished) is the attitude towards the Messiah presented in Rev 12:5. It does not mean that there is no relationship between the judgment having been already executed and the last judgment. The verdict pronounced by the last one will be a logical consequence of what takes place now.

In the literary composition of the Letter to the Seven Churches of the Apocalypse, the central position is occupied by the Letter to the Church of Thyatira. Christ introduces Himself to the community of Thyatira as the Son of God and to this revelation, the remaining six letters’ these representations refer to. In the letter to the community of Thyatira, the image of Christ alludes to craft work. The Son of God is revealed in this manner, the human face of Christ, who is similar to us and participates in our human existence; introducing at the same time, a divine element: Hence the ones who joined their fates with Christ are invited to participate in the life of God, and, they must as well overcome this world’s lifestyle, which is frequently based on compromises with evil. A symbol of this compromise is the figure of Jezebel and he who adopts this style of life, walks on the path of sin and is called to repentance by the Son of God. All people standing by Christ are free and the boundaries of their freedom were stated at the apostolic meeting in Jerusalem, in the year 49A.D. He who defeats the sin of compromise, with the world’s deities, will be the conqueror and will gain full participation in the triumph of the Son of God; i.e. he will participate in His resurrection. Modern man has built his somewhat newer world of myths and also attempted to reconcile it with the faith in Christ: Thus the Son of God’s call to repentance still prevails. Today Christ calls to us: change your way of thinking and living, you cannot serve the modern world’s “deities”, who are trying for the sake of economical or social reasons, to deprive a man of his rightful dignity; or even to take his life if it does not correspond to the worshipped ideal!

Ksiądz Franciszek Blachnicki (1921-1987) jest zaliczany do grona osób, które w szczególny sposób wpłynęły na ukształtowanie polskiego społeczeństwa w okresie PRL. Wojnę przeżył jako więzień Auschwitz i innych obozów i więzień nazistowskich. Po wojnie wstąpił do seminarium duchownego i w roku 1950 rozpoczął działalność duszpasterską. W latach 1957-1960 rozwinął ruch trzeźwościowy – Krucjatę Wstrzemięźliwości, którego centralę zorganizował w Katowicach. Wydawała ona własne książki i czasopisma. Organizowała wiele akcji i rekolekcji. Po likwidacji Krucjaty przez władze państwowe ks. Blachnicki zaangażował się w działalność liturgiczną i katechetyczną, inicjując w roku 1969 ruch oazowy. Uczestnicy tego ruchu prezentowali styl życia odmienny od popularnego w PRL-u. Mimo utrudnień ze strony władz komunistycznych, Ruch Światło-Życie rozwijał się bardzo dynamicznie, gromadząc na rekolekcjach letnich w końcu lat osiemdziesiątych 78 tys. osób. Wobec narastającego w latach siedemdziesiątych alkoholizmu i demoralizacji społecznej, ks. Blachnicki zainicjował w roku 1979 kolejny ruch trzeźwościowy – Krucjatę Wyzwolenia Człowieka. Widząc zakłamanie systemu komunistycznego, propagandy „szerokiego poparcia społecznego”, w marcu 1980 r. wezwał oazowiczów do bojkotu „wyborów” w PRL i przemyślenia swojego uczestnictwa w partii komunistycznej i w innych marksistowskich organizacjach. W okresie Solidarności ks. Blachnicki przygotował specjalny program rekolekcji ewangelizacyjnych dla środowisk pracy. W listopadzie 1981 r. zainicjował stowarzyszenie pod nazwą Niezależna Chrześcijańska Służba Społeczna. W roku 1982, będąc na emigracji w RFN, utworzył Chrześcijańską Służbę Wyzwolenia Narodów. Stowarzyszenie działało na rzecz wyzwolenia narodów, które po II wojnie światowej utraciły swoją państwowość lub suwerenność. Dynamiczne działania ks. Blachnickiego przerwała jego nagła śmierć w lutym 1987 r.
Rev. Franciszek Blachnicki (1921-1987) is counted among the people who in a special way influenced the shaping of the Polish society in the period of the Polish People’s Republic. He spent the Second World War as a prisoner in Auschwitz and other Nazi camps and prisons. After the war he entered the Seminary and in 1950 he started his pastoral work. In the years 1957-1960 he developed a temperance movement – The Temperance Crusade whose central office was located in Katowice. It published its own books and periodicals and it organized numerous actions and retreats. After the Crusade was abolished by the State authorities Rev. Blachnicki started liturgical and catechetic work, initiating the Oasis Movement in 1969. The participants in this movement adopted a style of life that was different from the one popular in the Polish People’s Republic. Despite difficulties created by the communist authorities the Light – Life Movement developed dynamically, gathering 78 thousand people in summer retreats at the end of the 1980s. Because of alcoholism and social demoralization that grew in the 1970s Rev. Blachnicki initiated another temperance movement in 1979 – The Crusade for the Liberation of Man. Seeing the hypocrisy of the communist system and the propaganda of a “broad social support” in March 1980 he appealed to the Oasis participants to boycott the “election” in the Polish People’s Republic and to think over their membership in the communist party and in other Marxist organizations. In the “Solidarity” period Rev. Blachnicki prepared a special program of evangelization retreats for working people. In November 1981 he initiated an association called the Independent Christian Social Service. In 1982, in emigration in Germany, he established the Christian Service for the Liberation of Nations. The association worked for the liberation of nations that lost their statehood or independence. Rev. Blachnicki’s dynamic work was stopped by his sudden death in February 1987.

The article attempts to show the collections of Rev. Jan Wiśniewski (1876-1943). Rev. Wiśniewski was strongly influenced by a spiritual atmosphere of Sandomierz - the place of his seminary studies and the ecclesiastical environment interested in the past and souvenirs of the past. The first teachers at the seminary were role models and support for him. Rev. Wiśniewski donated  the Diocesan Museum in Sandomierz  remarkable artistic and patriotic collections, astonishing in terms of richness and diversity. His collecting interests were  rooted in the nineteenth century, in the atmosphere of developing patriotic thoughts and awaking interest in the history of his own country, which was in captivity. In addition to the collector’s activities, Rev. Wiśniewski was involved in extensive research activities. As an amateur historian, he edited and published 15 volumes of Monografia dekanatów (A monograph of deaneries) and Historyczne opisy kościołów (Historical descriptions of churches). Initially, Rev. Wiśniewski amassed his collections in Radom, and then in Borkowice. At the presbytery in Borkowice he arranged a "museum of national remembrance." He lent his collections on numerous exhibitions. The preserved source materials indicate the extensive contacts of Rev. Jan Wiśniewski with collectors, antiquarians, art dealers and bibliophiles, among them were many outstanding figures. Rev. Jan Wiśniewski’s collection gave rise to the foundation of the Diocesan Museum. It was created on the basis on his private collection, as his personal idea was, from the beginning, to make the collection available to the next generations.

Fr Kazimierz Zawałkiewicz was born on the 29th of August,1879 in Złoczów. He was a gymnasium student in Złoczów and Sanok. His priesthood was started in divinity school in Lwów in the autumn of 1901, and continued in divinity school in Przemyśl. He took holy orders on the 29th of June, 1906. Fr Kazimierz took a vicar in Błażowa and Staromieście. In his priestly work, he got involved in the catholic association activity, mostly Social-Catholic Association. In the year of 1913 he became a parish priest in Zaczernie (near Rzeszów). Fr Zawałkiewicz truly took care of parish buildings and gave up time for social work. He contributed to reactivation of fire brigade in Zaczernie, and he took educational initiatives. His efforts resulted in the construction of school in belonging to parish Tajęcina. Fr Kazimierz Zawałkiwicz died on the 8th of April 1925. His body rested in the cementary in Zaczernie.

Rev. Marcin Murdza was born in Sokolow Malopolski on the 21st of October, 1870. He was a graduate of the Gymnasium in Rzeszow. He finished the formation of priesthood in Seminary in Przemysl. He got the priestly orders on the 9th of July, 1895. Then he worked as a vicar in Lubenia (1895-1897), Jasionow (1897), Sanok (1897-1900) and in Sambor (1900-1903). Rev. Murdza was also an administrator in Domaradz (1903-1904), a vicar in Lezajsk (1904-1905), an exposit in Pohorce (1905-1908). From the year of 1908 he held a function of a parish priest in Rokietnica. Apart from his common priestly work, he also engaged in a church renovation and plenty of social works. In 1936 he became a vice dean and a year later he was announced a Pruchnik dean. Rev. Marcin Murdza retired in 1950. He died on the 23rd of September, 1952.

Opis:
Artefacts made of and from untypical materials with the use of sophisticated techniques preserved in museums constitute an exceptional challenge to museum curators. Such is the case of two letters described in the paper, written on birch bark by someone signed as the female: Janka and Jaśka dispatched to her mother from the Soviet Polovinka Gulag in the Urals in 1946 and 1947. Currently, the artefacts are in the collection of the Museum of Rev. Józef Jarzębowski in Licheń Stary, while their history was explained only in the 2010s. In 2022, the letters underwent museum conservation, which allowed to find out what material they were written on and what technique was used for the execution, following which they were appropriately preserved so that they can last the longest possible minimizing their deterioration.

Notatki ks. Joachima Beslera SVD, kapelana katowickiego więzienia z lat 1942-1945, opracowane przez niego w 1965 roku i przechowane w Archiwum Archidiecezji Katowickiej, stanowią ważne świadectwo ostatnich chwil życia błogosławionego ks. Jana Machy oraz dwóch jego współpracowników - Joachima Gűrtlera i Leona Rydrycha. Pozwalają również uzupełnić naszą wiedzę o osobach zgilotynowanych w katowickim więzieniu oraz przynoszą wiele szczegółowych informacji o funkcjonowaniu samego więzienia, miejscu martyrologii ludności polskiej na Górnym Śląsku w latach niemieckiej okupacji. Ks. Besler objął obowiązki kapelana w tym więzieniu 28 lipca 1942 roku. Pracował tam do stycznia 1945 roku, kiedy do Katowic weszły oddziały Armii Czerwonej. Jak sam wspominał, osobiście przygotował na śmierć około 500 osób, przeważnie Polaków, ale zdarzali się też Niemcy oraz kilku Francuzów i Włochów. Zapamiętał również kilkanaście kobiet, które spowiadał przed egzekucją. Wszyscy byli przywożeni do Katowic z różnych więzień w rejencjach katowickiej i opolskiej, m.in. z Bielska, Cieszyna, Strzelec i Raciborza. W tym czasie ks. Besler konspiracyjnie prowadził notatki dotyczące osób skazanych na karę śmierci oraz okoliczności ich śmierci. Posłużyły one do przygotowania rękopisu, który następnie został przepisany i złożony w archiwum. Dokument był już cytowany przez historyków, ale nigdy nie został opublikowany w całości.
Notes written and edited by rev. Joachim Besler, SVD, chaplain of the Katowice prison between 1942 and 1945, and stored at the Archives of the Archdiocese of Katowice, constitute an important testimony of the last moments of the life of Blessed rev. Jan Macha and two of his co-workers, Joachim Gűrtler and Leon Rydrych. The notes are also an important source enabling us to broaden our knowledge on the people guillotined in the Katowice prison and bringing a lot of detailed information on the functioning of this institution itself as the place of martyrdom of the Polish population of Upper Silesia in the times of the German occupation. Rev. Besler started his service as chaplain in this prison on 28 July 1942 and worked there until January 1945, when Red Army troops entered Katowice. According to his memoirs, he had prepared about five hundred people for death, most of whom were Polish, but there were also some Germans, Italians and Frenchmen. He also remembered several women whose confession he had taken before their execution. Ali the prisoners were brought over to Katowice from various prisons in the provinces of Katowice and Opole, such as Bielsko, Cieszyn, Strzelce and Racibórz. At that time, rev. Besler took conspiratorial notes on the people sentenced to death and on their death circumstances. The notes were then used to create a manuscript, which was subsequently re-written and stored in the archives. The document has already been quoted by historians, but it has never been published as a whole.

The author tries to find the answer what precisely is the reality in the Church of Ephesus that is described by the words: „you neglected your first love” (Rev 2, 4). He analyses the whole letter to the Church of Ephesus and makes many references to the whole of Revelation to show the meaning of the terms „love” and „the first”. In this Iight he realises that the formula of complaint (2, 4) says only about the love of the Church to Jesus Christ and that it refers to the first period of Christian life in Epfesus’ community.

Opis:
On Way to Heaven by rev. Ludwik Skowronek is the indication of the author’s concern to preserve the traditional model of a family. Consequently so, Christian families are aimed to be the main recipients of the text. The Skowronek’s text edited as a prayer book in Silesia in early decades of the 20th century is devoted to the subject of a family within the church community. The thorough analysis of the text allows the reader to see the coexistence of the evident persuasion with different ways of soothing the direct didactic. By predetermining the shape of the sender-receiver relation, the impressive function of language reveals asymmetrical character of the roles which the participants of the speech act can take.

The article presents the activity of Rev. Antoni Stychel in the Catholic Society of Polish Craftsmen and his efforts to unite the Industrial Associations. The Catholic Society of Polish Craftsmen was the first to put into practice the precepts of the encyclical “Rerum novarum”. Earlier, during his studies in Berlin, Rev. Stychel engaged in work on behalf of Polish émigré workers there, also building his experience at social courses which he attended in  Germany.He enjoyed great authority in the Society and was awarded the title of its honorary president. Within five years of the Society’s activity the number of its members increased fivefold. Over 100 lectures, prelections and papers were presented to the craftsmen. Events were also organized to foster their cultural and social life.

The Church Songbook by Rev. Fr. Jan Siedlecki is not a homogenous publication in terms of its 41 editions over 140 years. From the beginning, it contained both the old and the new songs. The author did not pay too much attention to the documentation of their origins and neither did Rev. Fr. Michał Marcin Mioduszewski CM from whose collection Rev. Fr. Siedlecki borrowed the old songs. The situation changed along with the new editor-in-chief, Rev. Fr. Wendelin Świerczek CM. It was him who raised the bar to a new high in the 1928 anniversary edition of the critical edition of the songbook, which he oversaw until the end of his life (he passed away in 1974). The shape of various editions was influenced by changing editors. In the 41st edition of Rev. Fr. Siedlecki’s songbook from 2015, there are 243 songs for which the source are the previous editions. In addition, for 170 songs, the source are Fr. Rev. Mioduszewski’s songbooks. 102 songs in this edition of the songbook have been printed for the first time. The other ones originate from other sources. From this simple analysis, it follows that for 515 songs out of 840 in the 41st edition, the source is the songbook of Fr. Rev. Siedlecki or the songbook of his predecessor, Fr. Rev. Mioduszewski. Many church songs sung in Poland owe their functioning to the songbook of Fr. Rev. Jan Siedlecki (his individual editions). Thus, the decision of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate, by which the 41st edition was approved as the Polish national liturgical songbook, has to be recognised as historical justice or, if you will, a natural consequence.

Father Jan Piwowarczyk (1889–1959) Philosophy doctor in theology, ethicist, sociologist, academic teacher, catholic feature writer, theoretician of pre-war for the Christian democratic party. In 1907, he graduated from gymnasium in Wadowice, then he studied at the Seminary for the Archdiocese of Krakow. On the 2nd of July 1911, he was ordained a priest at the Wawel Cathedral. He was a cannon of the Krakow chapter, the rector of Krakow Seminary in the years 1939–1945. He was an outstanding catholic feature writer – in the years 1922–1939 he was the chief editor of “Głos Narodu” and a tutor to a whole generation of journalists. He was probably the best expert in the field of social Catholicism in the interwar period. The author of numerous articles and books on this subject In 1945 he was appointed by cardinal Adam Stefan Sapiecha to be the first editor in chief of “Tygodnik Powszechny” (1945–1951).
Ks. Jan Piwowarczyk to jeden z najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli i krzewicieli katolicyzmu społecznego w II Rzeczpospolitej, po II wojnie światowej zaś założyciel i pierwszy redaktor „Tygodnika Powszechnego”. Spuścizna, którą po sobie zostawił jest olbrzymia, obejmuje kilkanaście większych prac i ok. 5 tys. artykułów, śmiało w związku z tym można powiedzieć, iż wywierał on intelektualny wpływ na całe pokolenie działaczy i myślicieli związanych z nurtem katolicyzmu społecznego. Do dziś natomiast brak poważnego i całościowego opracowania dotyczącego jego myśli i dorobku. Te które są, niestety nie spełniają tego rodzaju warunków. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę zarysowania głównych zagadnień obecnych w jego publicystyce na przestrzeni kilkudziesięciu lat, a przede wszystkim uwypuklenie tego co stanowiło istotę jego myśli, fundament światopoglądu, decydujący do podejściu do poszczególnych, szczegółowych problemów, którymi zajmował się w swojej twórczości.

W recenzji książki monograficznej ks. Stefana Radziszewskiego pt. Kamińska ostiumiczna (‘Kamieńska w odrzwiach’) omówiono krótko jej strukturę, zawartość (treść) i konkluzje twórcy dzieła. Książka dotyczy opisu i analizy poezji polskiej poetki chrześcijańskiej Anny Kamieńskiej (1920-1986). Autor monografii objął badaniem całą twórczość poetycką tej poetki (wszystkie tomiki wierszy). Ks. Radziszewski wprowadził kategorię ‘ostiumiczności’, którą rozumie czworako (definiuje to na s. 238): 1. dziedzictwo poetyki quasi sacrum, 2. negacja negacji (interpretacja symboliczna), 3. swoiste odczytanie apokastasis panton [odnowienia całego bytu], 4. realizacja idei paschalnej.
In his review of the monographic book by father Stefan Radziszewski Ostiumic Kamienska (‘Kamienska in the door’) the author briefly discussed the structure, content and conclusions of this work. The book is concerned with the description and analysis of the poetry of Anna Kamienska (1920-1986) a Polish Christian poet. In his monograph Stefan Radziszewski dealt with all of Kamienska’s poetic works. He introduced the category ‘ostiumicsness’ that he understood in four ways (he defined it on p. 238): 1. heritage of the ‘quasi sacred ‘ poetics, 2. the negation of negation (a symbolic interpretation), 3. specific re-reading of apokatastasis panton [renewal of all the being], 4. realization of the paschal idea.

Parafia w Wójcinie była w czasie I wojny światowej jedną z 38 placówek duszpasterskich w powiecie wieluńskim. Geopolitycznie graniczyła z państwem niemieckim.Ks. Andrzej Witulski – ówczesny proboszcz parafii, posiadający zacięcie kronikarskie – spisał wydarzenia Wielkiej Wojny w wymiarze tej parafii oraz sąsiednich miejscowości. Wielkim atutem jego opisu jest chronologiczne ukazanie wydarzeń wojennych, począwszy od wejścia wojsk niemieckich i austrowęgierskich, i związanej z tym sytuacji społecznej, religijnej, gospodarczej, oświatowej i międzywyznaniowej. Duchowny wiązałz rozpoczęciem wojny nadzieję na ostateczne opuszczenie administracji Królestwa Polskiego przez znienawidzonych Rosjan i zaprowadzenie niepodległej Polski, w czym miałypomóc niemieckie i austrowęgierskie wojska wypierające Moskali na wschód. Niestety, duchowny po 4 latach wojny w gorzkich słowach przedstawił swoje rozczarowanie negatywnym zachowaniem Niemców i Austro-Węgrów, którzy dokonali szeregu zniszczeń oraz kradzieży mienia kościelnego i osób cywilnych.
The Parish in Wójcin was one of the 38 pastoral units in the district of Wieluń during WWI. Geopolitically, it bordered the Prussian State. The then parish priest Rev. Andrzej Witulski, who was a keen chronicler, recorded the events of the GreatWar in respect of the above–mentioned parish and neighbouring localities. A huge asset of his description is a chronological presentation of war events starting with the incursion by German and Austro-Hungarian troops and relating to the social, religious, economic, educationaland interfaith situation of those times. The priest hoped that the beginning of WWI would mark the final withdrawal of the hated Russians from the administration of the Kingdom of Poland and that it would lead to the establishment of independent Poland thanks to the help of German and Austro-Hungarian troops that were supposed to drive the Moskals to the Far East. However, after 4 years of the War, the priest expressed his bitter disappointmentwith the negative behaviour of the Germans and the Austro–Hungarians – not only did they cause extensive damage to the church property and civilians of the parish, but they also plundered the above–mentioned ones.

Ruch cecyliański, widoczny zwłaszcza w Niemczech w drugiej połowie XIX w., uwidocznił się również na ziemiach polskich. W tym kontekście wymienia się na ogół nazwiska: Eugeniusza Gruberskiego, Józefa Surzyńskiego, Wacława Gieburowskiego czy Antoniego Chlondowskiego. Jednak osób zaangażowanych w poprawę stanu muzyki kościelnej było więcej. W niniejszym artykule przywołane zostały dwie postaci księży działających na Mazowszu w tym samym czasie: Bronisława Maryańskiego i Germana Grabowskiego. Obaj prowadzili działalność oświatową, publikując teksty o charakterze podręcznikowym dla organistów. Porównując stanowiska obu autorów na temat muzyki liturgicznej można dojść do wniosku, że poglądy wśród samych cecylianistów co do zasady były zgodne, natomiast dzieliły je kwestie praktyczne.
The Cecilian movement, present especially in Germany in the 2nd half of the 19th c., became visible also in Polish lands. In this context, generally few names are mentioned: Eugeniusz Gruberski, Józef Surzyński, Wacław Gieburowski and Antoni Chlondowski. However, there were more people involved in improving the state of church music. In this article two priests active in Mazovia at the same time are referred to: Bronisław Maryański and German Grabowski. Both of them were engaged in educational activities, by publishing articles for organists. Comparing both authors’ positions on liturgical music, a conclusion can be drawn that the Cecilians, in principle, agreed among themselves, but their views differed on practical issues.

The article is an attempt at a possibly objective presentation - on the basis of sources available today - of that period of the life of Franciszek Hodur (the founder and for many years leader of the Polish National Catholic Church), in which he was still a true member of the Roman-Catholic Church. The example of this period shows best how his person became in historiography an object of articles debauched by ideological aims - of attack or defense. Roman- -Catholic authors presented Hodur as a negative hero, whereas his coreligionists - just the opposite - in a very positive tone. It was done both by „adding” certain events unconfirmed by any sources and by concealing other ones, which could impair the ideological aim assumed beforehand. This debauching of Hodur’s biography has been successively shown with respect to his stay in the secondary school and in the Cracow seminary, then to his removal from the seminary and to his work as a Roman-Catholic priest in the USA. In every case the real course of events has been presented objectively as far as possible. In the conclusion a postulate has been put forward to describe the later stages of Franciszek Hodur’s life in the same way, which would constitute a considerable contribution to the ecumenical dialogue between the Roman-Catholic Church and the Polish National Catholic Church.

Opis:
The Kalisz Book of Miracles has underwent several editions, the first of which was published in 1780. The Book was a testimony to the fervent reverence that its author, Rev. Stanisław Kłossowski, held for St Joseph and was to serve the purpose of promoting his cult more widely. The author of the work in question exercised his priestly ministry in the Collegiate Church of Kalisz in the years 1751–1798. The article is an attempt to discuss the fate of the original edition of Rev. Kłossowski’s work, the physical shape of the edition and possible variations, the history of the printing house the book was produced in, as well as the state of preservation in Polish libraries. The impulse to take an interest in the book of miracles originated from a reprint of the work published in 2018 by the Bernardinum Publishing House in Pełpin, which was carried out on the basis of a copy currently kept in the library of the Custodian of Kalisz Collegiate Church.
Kaliska księga cudów i łask doczekała się kilku edycji. Pierwsze wydanie ukazało się w 1780 roku. Księga była świadectwem żarliwej czci, jaką otaczał jej autor – ks. Stanisław Kłossowski – św. Józefa i miała służyć coraz szerszemu propagowaniu jego kultu. Autor interesującego nas dzieła sprawował swą kapłańską posługę w kolegiacie kaliskiej w latach 1751-1798. Artykuł stanowi próbę omówienia losów pierwotnej edycji dzieła ks. S. Kłossowskiego, kształtu fizycznego edycji oraz ewentualnych odmian, dziejów drukarni, z której wyszła książka, a także stanu zachowania w polskich bibliotekach. Asumpt do zainteresowania się księgą cudów dał reprint dzieła wydany w 2018 roku przez Wydawnictwo „Bernardinum” w Pelpinie, który został wykonany na podstawie egzemplarza przechowywanego obecnie w bibliotece kustosza kaliskiej kolegiaty.

The article discusses the conception of personalistic humanism as it was defined by the Lublin dogmatist and personalist, Rev. Prof. Wincenty Granat. According to him only maintaining the concept of the person as an actually existing being may prevent the humanist thought from being manipulated by ideology or subjectivism. Reduction anthropologies approaching only acertain aspect of the truth about man are not – in the theologian's opinion – sufficient for protecting the dignity of the human person. The author of the article, Krzysztof Guzowski, emphasizes that in Granat's conception the truth of the Incarnation and the very teaching by Jesus are significant arguments for the thesis that the term “personalistic humanism” may include evangelical humanism. Jesus not only affirms human nature by His Incarnation, but He expresses the same by His teaching and His attitude as well.
