Opis:
Project based learning approaches are being employed in the college as a creative and innovative means to engage and motivate learners through a transformative curriculum model for both further and higher education students. This article will examine how these pedagogical approaches have made a positive impact on our Childhood Studies’ students with regards to retention, achievement and success set within the context of widening participation and social engagement with and for those in society who are the hardest to reach including those children from the travelling community who have been integral partners in our Erasmus project. It will highlight the benefits of social learning, not only as a means of developing vocational skills for our students, but it will also examine the wider impacts of developing softer skills for our students, particularly with regards to employability skills, whilst considering the wider impacts this approach has had on society and building community cohesion.

Opis:
This paper sets out to present an application of learning by cooperation in a bachelor study program of Natural Gas Engineering. Starting from the idea that students' abilities to understand new things are enhanced when they are tied to significant problem solving tasks and students are helped to understand why, when and how these facts become relevant competencies, we have organized the didactic activities of the last study year of the bachelor level, specializing in Natural Gas Engineering, using the projects method. The goal was to see how students perceive the efficiency of learning by applying this method and if an increase in learning efficiency has been noticed. Having these goals in mind, the students were organized into groups, each group having the task of presenting a project with a certain theme. Inside the group, roles were cast and then the strategy for doing the project was discussed. The research was done over a period of 3 semesters. In the first semester, traditional teaching was used, while the second and third semesters were dedicated to projects. In the traditional teaching part, students were encouraged to discover critical thinking methods. For this purpose, they were presented with the thinking hats method, the cube, the "I know - I want to know - I have learned" technique etc., but also methods to assist learning (mind map, cluster etc.). Doing the projects also involved presenting and defending them in front of the class, which has led to highlighting the pros and cons of the project. Also, students have received an evaluation questionnaire on evaluating key aspects during the presentation. Teamwork was evaluated by each student team member. The final evaluation of the students was comprised (in various proportions) by the contribution of the students during the semester (as a method of formative evaluation), as well as a final exam (summative evaluation). The general conclusion of applying this method highlights the fact that students have become aware of the pros and cons of their behavior, have gained new motivational support for learning and have managed to increase their performance in the field of Transporting Natural Gas.

Opis:
The teaching of financial mathematics requires the proper selection of tasks that illustrate and supplement theoretical issues. One cannot miss out tasks arising from the practice of the operations on the financial markets. The students may choose such problems themselves and realize them in project mode with one or two partners as a team. The article shows the method of small projects that differs from the classic project based learning, known from the literature, by the scale of the project. The small project method allows one to use it as part of the coursework in financial mathematics, while the general project based learning cannot be applied due to the short time of the course. The article compares the classical project based learning with the proposed method of small projects and shows its implementation in teaching financial mathematics at University of Warsaw.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-driven, teacher-facilitated approach to learning. PBL provides opportunities for students to pursue their own interests and questions, make decisions about how to find answers, and solve problems. This study, carried out to determine the effects of Project-Based Learning Approach in teaching of “Polygons and Plane Geometry” unit on 9th grade students’ achievements, attitudes and views about the implementation, was designed in a pre-post test experimental model with a single experimental group. 32 9th grade students were chosen as the sample of this study. It was concluded that there was a significant difference between pre-post tests of students’ achievements and attitudes.

Opis:
The Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach to teaching, although well-known, is still little used. However, its fundamental educational value is increasingly often emphasised, consisting of identifying real problems, shaping pro-active attitudes in students, and creating links between educational institutions and various types of external organisation. The article aims to present the challenges and benefits related to the teaching process in PBL based on the analysis of the LINCE project, implemented according to the same methodology simultaneously in Poland, Spain and Italy. Based on the results of the research and the literature review, recommendations are made regarding the possibility of broader use of PBL methodology in entrepreneurship education. The work is based on an exploratory research approach, using qualitative research methodology and case study technigue.

Opis:
Project-based learning (PBL) witnesses ever more interest on the part of teachers at all levels of education. Unfortunately, the growing popularity of this method is only occasionally accompanied by in-depth and critical refl ection. Available literature devoted to this topic generally lacks critical publications that would inspire deliberation over of the conditions necessary to apply project-based learning into the educational process. The number of texts in which the authors move beyond the level of description concerning the implemented project and revise their educational practices is even smaller. In this paper I critically review my own educational activities in which project-based learning was a dominating method. When analyzing transcripts of students’ discussions during the evaluation stage of the project, I uncover stores of knowledge of teachers-to-be (communicative and conjunctive patterns) that govern their activities in order to eventually answer the questions as to the conditions in which project-based learning might be applied in the educational process of prospective teachers.

Opis:
Creativity is nothing but a mental process that entails the emergence of new ideas, concepts or new associations, links with existing ideas and concepts. Creative thinking is thinking that leads to original and appropriate solutions. In our dynamic and competitive world, designing a creative environment is a main goal and challenge for many companies and educational settings. Why is that so? Because it simply leads to the development of innovation and is existential for the well-being of the whole economy and civilization. One of the methods that contributes to the increase of creativity and the innovation level in education is the Project Based Learning (PBL) method. The aim of the study is to present creative methods in education based on PBL method using the example of the Smart-Up Lab (SUL) program organized by the consortium: Medical University in Lodz, Poland and EIT Health. PBL is a method of didactic work in which students implement the undertaking on the basis of assumptions established with the lecturer. At the beginning, goals and deadlines of work are set. The criteria for the assessment of individual work stages are clearly defined. The project’s task is most often performed in a group. After the end of the project, the results of students' work are presented to the public. During the implementation of the project, the lecturer acts as a coordinator and consultant - helps in making decisions regarding the division of tasks, supervises deadlines and assesses student performance by giving feedback. One of the examples using the Project Based Learning method is the Smart-Up Lab project. This project uses creativity and the PBL method to create innovative products, services and solutions to real-life challenges. This program has all features of a suitable teaching method in Science and may be a good example of the curriculum that may lead to the development of high-class specialists using creativity and innovative ideas in their everyday work.
