The mass influx of Poles to the Netherlands dates from 1908. The went there to seek job. At the end of the First World War there lived as many as ca 2000 newcomers from the Polish territory. A new wave of settlers arrived during the interwar years, settling mainly in Limburg, Amsterdam, Hague and Rotterdam. The number of Poles before the Second World War was ca 4000. After the war there arrived in the Netherlands mainly the demobilized Polish soldiers and refugees from Germany. In the 50s they numbered 10 000. The process of outflux of Poles from the Netherlands stopped as late as in the 80s. The Polish emigrants from the very beginning would set up their own trade unions and associations, social and cultural centres whose work was coordinated by the Alliance of Polish Societies (1930), which after the Second World War changed into the Union of Polish Catholic Societies. In the interwar period there was initiated the Polish periodical press and schooling. The Polish pastoral care has been working permanently in the Netherlands since 1928. The Polish Catholic Mission is established in four pastoral regions.

Polska diaspora w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki Północnej w XIX wieku zmieniała się w czasie. Zmianom podlegały również wzajemne kontakty między wychodźstwem polskim w Europie Zachodniej a polską emigracją w USA, inaczej nazywaną Polonią amerykańską. Między latami 30. a 60. XIX wieku relacje obu emigracji były sporadyczne. Wpływały na ten stan rzeczy dwa czynniki: oddalenie geograficzne oraz niewielka liczba polskich emigrantów politycznych w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Ta sytuacja zaczęła się zmieniać pod koniec lat 70., kiedy nastąpił rozwój emigracji zarobkowej, który spowodował gwałtowny wzrost ludności polskiego pochodzenia w Ameryce. W tym okresie przedstawiciele emigracji polskiej w Europie (mieszkający głównie we Francji i Szwajcarii) zaczęli szukać porozumienia ze swoimi odpowiednikami po drugiej stronie oceanu. Robili to na tyle skutecznie, że udało im się doprowadzić do kilku wspólnych inicjatyw. Jedną z nich było powołanie do istnienia Związku Narodowego Polskiego. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi próbę prześledzenia owoców współpracy między wychodźstwem europejskim a amerykańskim na przełomie lat 70. i 80. XIX wieku. Mowa w nim o ludziach oraz instytucjach, które uczestniczyły w tych kontaktach, o sukcesach i porażkach wspólnych inicjatyw.
The Polish diaspora in the United States of America in the nineteenth century changed over time. Mutual contacts between Polish emigration in Western Europe and Polish emigration in the US, also known as the American Polonia, were subject to change. Between the 1830s and 1860s, the relations of both emigrant groups were sporadic. Two factors influenced this state of affairs: their geographical distance and the small number of Polish political emigrants in the United States. This situation began to change in the late 1870s, when economic emigration began to develop, which caused a rapid increase in the Polish origin population in America. During this period, representatives of the Polish emigration in Europe (mainly living in France and Switzerland) began to seek contacts with their counterparts on the other side of the ocean. They did this so effectively that it lead to several joint initiatives. One of them was the establishment of the Polish National Union. This article is an attempt to trace the fruits of cooperation between the European and American emigration at the turn of the 1870s and 1880s. It talks about the people and institutions that participated in these contacts, including the successes and failures of joint initiatives.

Starting from the twelfth century until the outbreak of World War Two there arrive in Spain mainly individual people, or small groups of Poles. Nevertheless, they played a significant role in many spheres. Due to the outbreak of World War Two a numerous group of Poles arrive din Spain. They were refugees from occupied Poland, France, and German camps. These people were well-educated patriots, and established the oldest polish group of emigration in Spain, characteristic of a high social status. The Poles who arrived in Spain in the 1970s and at the beginning of the 1980s had a similar position. After 1988 the most numerous group of Poles arrived in Spain. This recent emigration forms a separate group, consisted mainly of poorly-educated people, oriented basically at the material side of life. The representative of the oldest and more recent emigration were active at the religious, socio-cultural, and scientific levels. Their life in Spain focused in the y ear 1956-1988 around the Rev. Marian Walorek and the Polish Catholic Mission which he conducted in Madrid. It was a great achievement of the PCK that they had organized in 1966 the celebration commemorating the Thousand Years of the Baptism of Poland in Spain. The Spanish nation joined the celebrations, paying homage to the Polish Church. There were many Polish institutions which worked in Spain. The most important of them are as follows: the Polish section of the Radio Nacional de Espana , working in the years 1949- 1976, and the Madrid Legation of the Polish Government in exile. After World War Two Polish organizations of various profiles were established in Spain. We find there, among others, the Society of the Aid to Poles, the Association of Polish Academics in Spain, the Association of Polish Veterans, the Circle of the Eastern Territories of the Polish Republic, and the Association of Polish Technicians. Those organizations had one common goal, ie they sought to keep up the Polish spirit and mutual ties among Poles living in Spain. The representatives of the oldest and more recent emigration developed an editorial activity in Spain. After 1945 the following Polish papers appeared in Spain: ‘'Inter Nos” - a PCK bulletin in Madrid, “Przed Jutrem ” [Before Tomorrow] - a magazine of Polish students from Spain, ''Polonia ” - a Polish illustrated monthly in Spain, and also "Listy z Hiszpanii” [Letters from Spain], and a Polish informative bulletin '"El Correo de Varsovia ” . In 1946 Polish students arrived in Spain, and they actively joined the life of Polish emigration. Over a dozen or so years they graduated from various faculties of Spanish universities, gaining prestigious jobs. The Poles living in Spain opened numerous centres there of a professional and cultural profile, among other things, a factory of mechanical vehicles, medical and paramedical centres, a Polish restaurant, a gallery, and a secondary school. The versatile activity and perfect organization of the Polish community in Spain after 1945 aroused an intensive interest in the Polish spirit in this country. Among those who had largely contributed to the popularization of Polish culture, tradition, and language in Spain, one should mention Gabriela and Stanislaw Makowiecki, Rev. Marian Walorek, Prof. A. Derynga, Count Jozef Potocki, and Dr. Mirosław Sokołowski. Despite the difficult contacts with the homeland, due to the political situation there, there was a continuous communication between the Poles from Spain and compatriots in Poland. This communication was important for both parties. At the time when the communist ideology prevailed spiritual support flowed from Spain, whereas the Polish community in Spain could preserve the most important Polish values.

W artykule pokazano, że stawkę Polonia odzwierciedlającą cenę pieniądza jednodniowego w Polsce można prognozować na podstawie stopy WIBOR O/N, jej przybliżenia z późnego poranka. W tym celu wykorzystano model korekty błędem wywodzący się z modelu ARDL. Po oszacowaniu tego modelu na danych o częstotliwości dziennej z okresu 24.01.2005-31.12.2019 dokonano symulacji 100 sekwencji jednodniowych dynamicznych prognoz stawki Polonia do 30.04.2020 roku, tj. do ostatniego dnia roboczego poprzedzającego znaczącą zmianę systemu stanowienia stawek WIBOR, która skutkowała przesunięciem obliczania i ogłaszania stawki jednodniowej do późnych godzin popołudniowych. Wyznaczono także 95-procentowe przedziały ufności dla tych prognoz. Analiza wyników symulacji prowadzi do wniosku, że model korekty błędem wyspecyfikowany na podstawie kryterium informacyjnego Akaike charakteryzuje się dobrymi własnościami prognostycznymi w próbie oraz poza próbą. Niemniej w chwilach obniżek stóp referencyjnych przez władze monetarne lub bezpośrednio po obniżkach model ten nieznacznie przeszacowuje bieżącą stawkę Polonia. W takich wypadkach stawka ta okazjonalnie wykracza poza dolną granicę przedziału ufności.

Wenecki uwodziciel miał okazję gościć w państwie polskim przez kilkamiesięcy, zanim zniknęło ono w następstwie rozbiorów. Owe doświadczenie opisał szerokow swoich wspomnieniach pt. Histoire de ma vie, jak również w Il Duello, kronice zdarzenia,które przytrafiło się mu z księciem Branickim i które zmusiło go najpierw do pojedynkuz księciem, a później do opuszczenia kraju. Znajomości zawarte na terenie Rzeczypospolitejzachęciły Casanovę do napisania Istoria delle turbolenze della Polonia, historycznego traktatuo kraju; dzieło jednak zostało nieukończone, co było powodem gorzkiej polemiki. Dziękiwnikliwemu obserwatorowi możemy uzyskać cenne uwagi nie tylko dotyczące charakteruautora, ale również Polski tamtych czasów. Informacje te w większości przypadków mająswoje odzwierciedlenie w dowodach historycznych i ukazują nam piękny portret ówczesnegospołeczeństwa polskiego. Słowa kluczowe: Giacomo Casanova, Giacomo Casanova w Polsce, Histoire de ma vie, Istoriadelle turbolenze della Polonia   Poland in the literary works of Giacomo Casanova Abstract The present article contains an analysis of Giacomo Casanova’s literary work, in which Polandappears. The Venetian seducer had stayed in Poland for several months before the countrydisappeared due to partitions. He described his experience in memoirs entitled Histoire dema vie, as well as in libretto Il Duello which chronicles an incident involving duke Branickiand which forced him to first duel the duke and later to leave the country. ConnectionsCasanova made in Poland stimulated him to write Istoria delle turbolenze della Polonia,a historical treatise about the country. However it was never finished which resulted in bitterdispute. Thanks to the soul of inquisitive observer we are given remarks concerning not onlythe author’s character but also those on Poland of that time. Said information is most oftenreflected by historical evidence and give us a perfect picture of Polish society of that period. The article aims to show the presence of American Polonia in the scholarly activity of Institute for the Study of Polish Community and Its Ministry and Institute for the Study of Polish Community and Its Ministry. In the 1970s and 1980s a huge interest in Polish diaspora achievements in the USA was visible in many scientific articles, texts, and monographs published in the yearbook Studia Polonijne. American Polonia has become an object of multidimensional and interdisciplinary research, which turned to be the pioneer ones in some cases.
Celem artykułu jest ukazanie obecności Polonii amerykańskiej w działalności badawczej Zakładu Duszpasterstwa i Migracji Polonijnej KUL (w latach 1984-2006 Instytutu Badań nad Polonią i Duszpasterstwem Polonijnym KUL). W latach siedemdziesiątych i osiemdziesiątych XX wieku zainteresowanie historią i dokonaniami polskiej diaspory w USA było duże, co przejawiało się w udziale tekstów naukowych, referatów i opracowań publikowanych w “Studiach Polonijnych”. Polonia amerykańska stała się zatem obiektem wielowymiarowych i interdyscyplinarnych badań, które w wielu przypadkach okazały się pionierskie.
