The aim of the study is to analyse and compare the changes in land use in rural areas in the Lubelskie Voivodship at the time of implementation of the Rural Development Plan (RDP) during the period 2004-2006 and 2007-2013. The assessment of changes in land use was made based on aggregate voivodship lists of the land and building register covering the years 2004-2013. In detailed analyses the changes in the register area of particular lands in 20 districts. For the purpose of research presentation QGIS software was used, which allowed to present the changes in land use in the form of a cartogram. The research shows a decrease in the acreage of agricultural land and waste land at the time of implementation of the two programmes, at the expense of, among others, forests, wooded and bushy lands, urban and built-up lands, ecological lands and various land. The effect of financing activities related to the reduction of the human impact on the environment during the period 2007-2013 in Lubelskie Voivodship can be observed in the changes of ecological land acreage. It was observed the overall area increase of 22,21%. Ecological lands constitute a very small percentage of the lands in Lubelskie Voivodship. It is the authors’ opinion that should strive to increase their acreage in order to increase biodiversity in rural areas.

Lubelskie voivodeship has been standing out from other Polish administrative regions because of its agricultural function that has been shaped for centuries. Food and agricultural products originating in this region are seen as healthy, ecological and tradition-based. These resources have been noticed and used by the local government for building the regional brand and for promoting it. The main aim of this paper was to present the level of Polish people’s familiarity with lubelskie culinary heritage. Research findings obtained by means of the preliminary study and the diagnostic poll prove initiatives that have been undertaken to be effective. Inhabitants of other voivodeships do recognise lubelskie voivodeship and its culinary tradition, furthermore, a great majority know regional products from lubelskie. A development of tourism based on such a heritage is therefore an opportunity to make lubelskie voivodeship’s tourist offer more attractive. The offer may also become an important component for creating the brand.

Opis:
The study involved investigation of the relationship between the radon concentrations in the ground air – and thus in the indoor air – and the geological structure of the Lubelskie Voivodeship (eastern Poland). Both passive and active methods were used for measuring the radon concentrations in coal, phosphate and chalk mines, caves, wells as well as indoor environments. The study also included elemental, uranium and lead isotope analyses of rocks. The performed research showed that Paleogene and Mesozoic sedimentary rocks rich in radionuclides are the sources of radon in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. In the case of the buildings located in proximity to such rocks, characterized by relatively high radon exhalations, radon remediation methods are recommended. Already at the designing stage of buildings, the measures which protect against the hazardous radon gas should be applied.

.Wyższa Szkoła Zarządzania i Administracji w Zamościu od II kwartału 2001 roku prowadzi kwartalne badania ankietowe nastrojów gospodarczych w województwie lubelskim. W ciągu 11 lat przeprowadzono 44 takich badań. Analiza przebiegu obliczonych na podstawie wyników ankiet barometrów nastrojów gospodarczych skłania do wniosku, że gospodarka województwa lubelskiego w badanym okresie „przeszła” pełny średniookresowy cykl koniunkturalny, który rozpoczął się recesją w 2001 roku i poprzez fazę ożywienia z lat 2004 2006 wszedł w fazę rozkwitu w okresie 2007 – pierwsza połowa 2008 roku ze szczytem w IV kwartale 2007 roku. W drugiej połowie 2008 roku gospodarka województwa wstąpiła w fazę spowolnienia gospodarczego, które zakończyło się recesją lat 2009 2010 z „dołkiem” zanotowanym w II kwartale 2009 roku. W dalszym ciągu pozostaje otwartym problem sposobu i tempa wychodzenia z recesji lat 2009–2010. Znaczne pogorszenie nastrojów w drugim półroczu 2011 roku oraz długoterminowy trend Hodricka-Prescotta mogą wskazywać na to, że wychodzenie odbywać się będzie w kształcie litery „W”, a w III kwartale 2011 r. gospodarka, a co za tym idzie i nastroje gospodarcze, osiągnęły „drugie dno”. W artykule zaprezentowano metodykę badań nastrojów gospodarczych w województwie lubelskim. Przedstawiono również zmiany i najważniejsze cechy barometrów nastrojów gospodarczych w latach 2001 2012.
Since the 2nd quarter of 2001 the University of Management and Administration in Zamość has been realizing the economic sentiment surveys which help to calculate sector confidence indicators and economic sentiment indices for the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The analysis of the trends of economic sentiment indices makes one to conclude that in the period under the study the economy of the Lubelskie Voivodeship has gone through the full medium term business cycle, which began with the 2001 recession and through the recovering phase of 2004–2006 entered the boom of 2007 – the 1st half of 2008 with the pick in the 4th quarter of 2007. Then we observed slowdown of the economy which ended in the 2009 2010 recession with the trough recorded in the 2nd quarter of 2009. The way and pace of the recovery after the 2009 2010 recession, however, constitute a problem. The results of the 2nd half of 2011 and Hodrick-Prescott long term trend may show that the recovery would be W-shaped whereas in the 3rd quarter of 2011 the economy and economic sentiments reached troughs again. In the paper the methodology of economic sentiment surveys in the Lubelskie region was presented. The changes in the years 2001–2012 and the most important features of economic sentiment indexes for the Lubelskie region were also shown.

Sprawne i skuteczne zarządzanie wiedzą pozwala na uzyskanie wielu korzyści, w tym poprawy jakości funkcjonowania organizacji czy też szybkiego przekazywania i wykorzystywania właściwych zasobów w odpowiedni sposób. Dzielenie się wiedzą, jako jeden z procesów zarządzania wiedzą, jest istotny nie tylko ze względu na ciągłe poszerzanie wiedzy i umiejętności pracowników organizacji, ale również możliwość tworzenia nowej wiedzy lub rozwoju istniejącej. W pracy przedstawione zostaną wybrane aspekty dotyczące dzielenia się wiedzą w lubelskich organizacjach. Zwłaszcza w obszarze funkcjonowania organizacji i stosowanych ułatwień organizacyjnych dzielenia się wiedzą wśród pracowników.
21st century organizations must be aware of the importance of non-material factors in building a position or creating a competitive advantage. Knowledge as an immaterial resource is of great importance in creating the value of an organization. Effective knowledge management allows organizations to get many benefits, including improving the quality of the organization or quickly transferring and using the right resources in an appropriate manner. Knowledge sharing as one of the knowledge management processes is important not only because of the continuous expansion of knowledge and skills of the organization’s employees, but also as the possibility of creating new knowledge or developing the existing one. The paper will present selected aspects of knowledge sharing in organizations of Lubelskie voivodeship, especially organizational facilitation of sharing knowledge among employees.

The paper presents the results of a research on the capacity of sugar beet production in the Lubelskie Region, Poland. Based on data obtained from sugar plants and a number of national organizations (Association of Sugar Producers in Poland, Association of Sugar Production Technicians), the survey confirmed strong position of Lubelskie Region as a sugar and sugar beet producer in the country. The analysis of sugar beet growing practices applied in selected farmsteads allowed the authors to determine the list of advisable improvements to the methods of cultivation. Production results, achieved on farms, can also be improved through the introduction of new technical and technological solutions in cultivation.
W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań nad możliwościami produkcji buraków cukrowych w województwie lubelskim. Opierając się na danych uzyskanych z cukrowni oraz ogólnokrajowych organizacji (Związek Producentów Cukru w Polsce, Stowarzyszenie Techników Cukrowników) potwierdzono silną pozycję Lubelszczyzny jako producenta buraków i cukru w skali kraju. Analiza technologii produkcji buraków cukrowych w wybranych gospodarstwach pozwoliła na wskazanie koniecznych usprawnień technologicznych. Wyniki produkcyjne osiągane w gospodarstwach mogą dodatkowo zostać poprawione poprzez wprowadzenie nowych rozwiązań techniczno - technologicznych w uprawie.

The article introduces the export potential of Lubelskie voivodeship enterprises. It presents the latest statistical data adequate for all operators, regardless of the ownership form or size of enterprise, which in 2014 were active in export. It describes a geographical and commodity structure of export for 2014, based on the combined nomenclature, the Common Customs Tariff and Integrated Tariff of the European Communities (TARIC). Statistical data, concerning the external trade turnover volume of Lubelskie voivodeship enterprises, including commodity codes and territories of destination, have been obtained from the sets of the Analytical Center of the Customs Administration (CAAC), Customs Chamber in Warsaw. Information about traders and trading of goods, was based exclusively on the data gained form SAD documents and INTRASTAT declaration. These are the actual data, without estimates. They are derived from the open set, which means, tha untill the final approval of GUS report, they may be changed (final approval of the report shall take place in August 2015, after completion of the reporting obligation by the authorized institutions). The article lists the most important cities of Lubelskie voivodeship, bringing together the greatest number of exporters. There was presented the commodity structure of export by selected sections, the export value has been measured and relevant data presented for the following months of 2014. In addition, there were pointed out main export deliveries according to the territoy of destination. This article constitutes the way for further considerations concerning export activity of enterprises and its specificities in Lubelskie voivodeship.

Celem artykułu jest porównanie działań podjętych w ramach kształtowania kluczowych przestrzeni publicznych miast województwa lubelskiego oraz weryfikacja założenia o powszechnej unifikacji ich fizjonomii. Dodatkowo autorzy starają się określić inne trendy w formowaniu tych miejskich przestrzeni publicznych, zwracając szczególną uwagę na zmiany, jakich dokonano w zagospodarowaniu placów. Analiza obejmuje 48 projektów zakładających zmianę zagospodarowania lub utworzenie placów miejskich w 39 miastach województwa lubelskiego w latach 2000–2020 (łącznie 40 placów). Wyniki wskazują, że działania rewitalizacyjne podjęte w ramach aranżacji tych miejsc są typowe dla tego rodzaju inwestycji. Są to najczęściej: wyposażenie w elementy małej architektury, budowa lub modernizacja fontanny, modernizacja nawierzchni placu, porządkowanie zieleni oraz lokowanie miejsc postojowych. Za negatywne tendencje można uznać unifikację fizjonomii placów miejskich, ich „betonozę” oraz odchodzenie od kultury, tradycji i historii regionu.
The aim of the study is to compare activities undertaken within the framework of shaping the main public spaces of the towns of Lubelskie Voivodeship and to verify the hypothesis of unification of the physiognomy of public town squares. In addition, the authors try to define other trends in the formation of urban public spaces, paying particular attention to the changes that have been made in the development of town squares. The study includes 48 projects assuming a change of spatial development or the creation of town squares in 39 towns of the Lubelskie Voivodeship in the years 2000–2020 (total of 40 town squares). Revitalization activities undertaken as part of the arrangement of town squares are typical for this kind of investments. They include equipping with elements of small architecture, building or modernizing a fountain, modernizing the square’s surface, organizing greenery and locating car parks. For the negative tendencies can be considered the physiognomy unification of town squares, excessive curing of the surface and the departure from the region’s culture, tradition and history.

Niniejsze opracowanie dotyczy zagadnienia jakości życia. W pracy zaprezentowano aspekty definicyjno-badawcze odróżniające poziom życia od jakości życia. Zasadniczym celem artykułu było ustalenie obiektywnej jakości życia w poszczególnych powiatach województwa lubelskiego. Podjęte badania obejmowały analizę opisową wybranych miar obiektywnej jakości życia oraz obliczenie na podstawie przyjętych wskaźników cząstkowych (zgrupowanych w cztery obszary tematyczne) syntetycznych mierników. Zastosowana metoda pozwoliła na wyznaczenie grup powiatów o zbliżonym poziomie jakości życia. Przeprowadzone dla 2021 roku badania pokazały, że obiektywna jakość życia mieszkańców województwa lubelskiego jest zróżnicowana zarówno w ujęciu przestrzennym, jak i w odniesieniu do określonych aspektów jakości życia. Widoczna jest zdecydowana przewaga miast na prawach powiatu nad powiatami ziemskimi.
This study deals with the issue of quality of life. The paper presents the definitional and research aspects that differentiate the standard of living from the quality of life. The main objective of the paper was to determine the objective quality of life in individual districts of lubelskie voivodship. The research undertaken included a descriptive analysis of selected measures of objective quality of life and the calculation of synthetic measures on the basis of the adopted partial indicators (grouped into four thematic areas). The method used made it possible to delineate groups of counties with similar levels of quality of life. The research carried out for 2021 showed that the objective quality of life of the inhabitants of Lubelskie Voivodeship varies both spatially and in relation to specific aspects of quality of life. There is a clear advantage of cities with county rights over rural districts.

Clusters are not meant to be a way of solving single enterprises problems but rather to be a mechanism of activation of the whole regions. They enable to create cooperation and business relationships which exceed far above local possibilities. Thanks to a connection between all sorts of suppliers, manufacturers and academic institutions, small and medium businesses working as part of a cluster are able to achieve more than by running their businesses individually. Enterprises, through joint procurement and promotion policies, have greater bargaining power with suppliers and customers. The aim of this article is the diagnosis of economic and business situation of Lubelskie Voivodeship and pointing that one way to improve this situation is local authorities support of cluster initiatives.
