Opis:
Actively Q-switched laser performances of composite and conventional Nd:$YVO_4$ crystals were investigated and compared with different Nd-doped concentrations of laser media and different repetition rates of electro-optic modulator. Both continuous-wave and actively Q-switched operations were realized experimentally. At an incident pump power of 7.69 W, the shortest pulse duration of 6.5 ns was obtained by the composite Nd(0.1 at.%):$YVO_4$/Nd(0.3 at.%):$YVO_4$/Nd(0.8 at.%):$YVO_4$ crystal at the repetition rate f=2 kHz. However, the composite Nd(0.1 at.%):$YVO_4$/Nd(0.5 at.%):$YVO_4$/Nd(1.0 at.%):$YVO_4$ laser achieved the maximum average output power of 687 mW at f=10 kHz and the largest single pulse energy of 144 μ J at f=2 kHz. Power saturation of the conventional Nd:$YVO_4$ crystal was shown during experiment, while no power saturation was observed on the composite Nd:$YVO_4$crystals, showing good thermo-mechanical performances.

Opis:
The discrete analogue of the Noether-type identities in field theory is investigated by means of the difference discrete variational principle in which the difference is regarded as an entire geometric object. The discrete counterparts of the Noether theorems are obtained. It is proved that there exists the discrete version of the Noether conservation law in field theory. The discretization for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation is presented to illustrate the results.

Reinvestigations of the Li2O–Al2O3 system focused on the synthesis and properties of LiAlO2 and Li3AlO3 phases have been performed with the help of XRD and IR measuring techniques and Li2CO3, LiOH.H2O, Al2O3-sl., α-Al2O3, Al(NO3)3.9H2O and boehmite as reactants. Results of investigations have shown the formation of α-, β-, and γ- polymorphs of LiAlO2. It was found that only the use of LiOH.H2O as a reactant yields to β-LiAlO2 as a reaction product. On the other hand, it was proved that Li3AlO3 does not form in the Li2O–Al2O3 system. A new method for the synthesis of α-LiAlO2 was developed, consisting in grinding the mixture of Li2CO3 and Al(NO3)3.9H2O and heating the obtained paste at the temperature range of 400–600°C. The IR spectroscopy was used to characterize obtained phases.

Opis:
A polarization-independent reflective grating with improved bandwidth is presented based on the mixed metal-dielectric grating. The novel grating is composed of the substrate, the metal slab, two dielectric layers, and the covering layer. The grating parameters are optimized for the special duty cycle of 0.6 at an incident wavelength of 1550 nm used in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). With the designed grating, high efficiency can be diffracted into the reflective –1st order for both TE and TM polarizations, where the polarization-independence is exhibited. Most importantly, the efficiency of more than 90% can be achieved within the incident wavelength bandwidth of 1262–1686 nm, where the bandwidth is improved greatly compared with the reported surface-relief single-layer grating. The reflective grating can have advantages of high efficiency, polarization-independence, and wide bandwidth, which should be useful for DWDM applications.

Opis:
Electrocution is one of the main causes of workplace deaths in the construction industry. This paper presents a framework for identifying electrocution risk factors and exploring the correlations between them, with the aim of assisting accident prevention research. Specifically, the Haddon Matrix is used to extract the risk factors from 193 investigation reports of electrical shock accidents from 2012-2019, and the Apriori algorithm is applied to examine the potential relationships between these factors. Based on association rules using three criteria: support(S), confidence(C) and lift(L), the betweenness centrality is then introduced to optimize association rules and find the most important rules though comparison. The results show that after optimization, some of these critical rules rise significantly in rank, such as Workplace: indoor → No CPR provided. Through these ranking changes, the focus of safety management is clarified, and finally, based on a comprehensive analysis of association rules, targeted accident prevention measures are suggested.

As a type of natural energy resource, wind power is used in the modern implementation of wind-assisted technologies as a method for reducing the fuel consumption and environmental pollution of ocean-going ships. In order to promote the full usage of ocean wind energy for cargo ships, an innovative type of ship propulsion-assisted wing sail is proposed in this paper. The propulsion efficiency of this new wing sail can be increased by enlarging its area in both the transverse and vertical directions in good weather conditions, and it can be folded up automatically in poor weather conditions, improving the sailing safety of the ship. The sail parameters relating to the gaps and rotation angles between different parts of the wing sail are compared, and the values giving the best aerodynamic performance are identified using CFD simulation technology. The results for the lift and drag coefficients for the new wing sail at different attack angles are also compared with those of traditional aerofoil sails, including an arc-shaped rigid sail and a variable-camber sail proposed in 2015. From the viewpoint of the sailing performance of the vessel, our results demonstrate that this new type of wing sail has good aerodynamic performance and can reduce fuel costs for commercial vessels.

The direct reaction calorimetric method was used for the determination of the formation enthalpy of alloys which concentrations correspond to the: Ga7Li2, Ga9Li5, GaLi, Ga4Li5, Ga2Li3, and GaLi2 intermetallic phases. The obtained experimental values of the formation enthalpy were: –18.1 ±0.8 kJ/mol at., –26.5 ±0.3 kJ/mol at., –34.7 ±0.3 kJ/mol at., –33.5 ±0.5 kJ/mol at., –32.8 ±0.3 kJ/mol at. and –24.6 ±1.4 kJ/mol at., respectively. After the calorimetric measurements, all the samples were checked by way of X-ray diffraction investigations to confirm the structure of the measured alloys. All the measured values of the formation enthalpy of the Ga-Li alloys were compared with literature data and the data calculated with use of the Miedema model.

This is the first special issue devoted specifically to emotions in second language acquisition (SLA). Influenced by the positive psychology movement (Fredrickson, 2001), there has been a shift away from an exclusive focus on negative emotions in SLA to a more holistic analysis of both negative and positive emotions among learners (Dewaele & MacIntyre, 2014; MacIntyre & Gregersen, 2012; MacIntyre, Gregersen, & Mercer, 2016; MacIntyre & Mercer, 2014). We are not claiming that nobody had considered positive emotions and affect in SLA before 2012, as indeed many researchers prepared the ground (e.g., Arnold, 1999; Broner & Tarone, 2001; Cook, 2000; Dewaele, 2005; Kramsch, 2006). Moreover, educational psychologists did point to the pivotal role of positive academic emotions that sustain motivation (Pekrun, 1988, 2014; Pekrun, Goetz, Titz, & Perry, 2002a, 2002b). However, none of the SLA studies created the kind of wave of interest in emotions in SLA that we are currently witnessing. It is possible that now the time is ripe, as the success of the biennial Psychology of Language Learning conferences illustrates, as well as the establishment of the new International Association of Psychology of Language Learning during the second conference in Finland in 2016.

Fruit biomechanics is needed for quality determination, multiscale modelling and engineering design of fruit processes and equipments. However, these determined fruit biomechanics data often have obvious differences for the same fruit or tissue. In order to investigate it, the fruit biomechanics based on anatomy was reviewed in this paper. First, the anatomical characteristics of fruit biomaterials were described at the macroscopic ‘tissue’ level and microscopic ‘cellular’ level. Subsequently, the factors affecting fruit biomechanics based on anatomy and the relationships between fruit biomechanics, texture and mechanical damage were summarised according to the published literature. Fruit biomechanics is mainly affected by size, number and arrangement of cells, quantity and volume of intracellular spaces, structure, thickness, chemical composition and permeability of cell walls, and pectin degradation level and turgor pressure within cells based on microanatomy. Four test methods and partial determined results of fruit biomechanics were listed and reviewed. The determined mechanical properties data of fruit are only approximate values by using the existing four test methods, owing to the fruit biomaterials being non-homogeneous and living. Lastly, further aspects for research on fruit biomechanics were proposed for the future.

The high mechanical properties of the Al-Li-X alloys contribute to their increasingly broad application in aeronautics, as an alternative for the aluminium alloys, which have been used so far. The aluminium-lithium alloys have a lower specific gravity, a higher nucleation and crack spread resistance, a higher Young’s module and they characterize in a high crack resistance at lower temperatures. The aim of the research planned in this work was to design an aluminium alloy with a content of lithium and other alloy elements. The research included the creation of a laboratorial melt, the microstructure analysis with the use of light microscopy, the application of X-ray methods to identify the phases existing in the alloy, and the microhardness test.

The primary aim of this paper is to study the optimization of rigid frame bridge parameters. With a three-span continuous rigid frame bridge as the engineering background, finite element models were established. Then an index about bridge force condition was proposed to calculate the optimal side-to-mid span ratio with different side-to-mid span ratio parameters. Based on the ratio, the values of the girder depth at the pier and the bottom curve degree of the box-girder were taken as parameters in their common ranges for further optimization. A comprehensive multi-objective evaluation index correlated with the mid-span section stress, the mid-span deflection, and the concrete consumption was proposed to do fine optimization through the genetic algorithm method. The result of this study shows that the genetic algorithm is an effective method for bridge optimization and could provide better girder design parameter combinations for the comprehensive performance, and the optimal result could be obtained in the continuous parameter definition domains. It also shows that a larger girder depth at the pier to span ratio and a smaller curve degree in their common ranges should be taken for the bridge’s comprehensive performance.

An embedded microring resonator model using PtS2 as the core layer was designed and optimized for sensing. The inner layer is made of PtS2, and SiO2 and Si3N4 are used as cladding. The overall structure is Si3N4-SiO2-PtS2-SiO2-Si3N4. Field strength distribution of longitudinal section of single straight waveguide and the longitudinal section of coupling part of straight and annular waveguides are simulated according to the coupled-mode theory. The transfer matrix method is used to analyze characteristics between the length of the U-shaped feedback waveguide and the circumference of microring and the change of attenuation factor and coupling coefficient on the output spectrum. The simulation results showed that the embedded microring resonator with PtS2 as the core presents excellent optical properties. The resonance depth is more than –50 dB, and the sensitivity can reach 1806.61 dB/RIU. When the resonance wavelength is 1550.86 nm and the self-coupling coefficient is 0.9849. The corresponding detection limit is about 1.66056×10–7 dB/RIU, and the quality factor is 2.8848×10–5 under the measurement system with a signal-to-noise ratio of 30 dB. Compared with the traditional single microring structure, the proposed microring presents a higher free spectral range and more suitable for the fabrication of high-sensitivity, low-detection limit, and large-measurement range sensors.

The flooding process is one of the main concerns of damaged ship stability. This paper combines the volume of fluid (VOF) method incorporated in the Navier-Stokes (NS) solver with dynamic mesh techniques to simulate the flooding of a damaged ship. The VOF method is used to capture the fluid interface, while the dynamic mesh techniques are applied to update the mesh as a result of transient ship motions. The time-domain flooding processes of a damaged barge and a rectangular cabin model are carried out based on the abovementioned method, and the computational results appear compatible with the experimental data. During the flooding process, the motion of the flooding flow at different stages is observed and compared with that observed in real conditions. The time-domain research of the flooding process is the starting point for subsequent establishment of damaged ship’s roll movement and capsizing the mechanism of dead ship condition in wave.

Basing on the developed and patented technology the nanocomposite cathodes were successfully prepared in a simple and inexpensive process of wet impregnation of polymer carbon precursor followed by controlled pyrolysis. Conductive carbon layers (CCLs) derived from hydrophilic polymers in solvent-free water mediated process, significantly enhances electrical conductivity of the material and improves its thermal properties, moreover the unique pore structure of CCLs assures easy lithium ions diffusion. Proposed solution allows to explore the potential of active material and improves overall performance of Li-ion batteries.
Na podstawie opracowanej i opatentowanej technologii otrzymano nanokompozyty elektrodowe Li-ion. Nieskomplikowany i niedrogi proces wytwarzania przewodzących warstw węglowych (CCL) polegał na depozycji w środowisku wodnym prekursora węglowego na powierzchni ziaren materiału aktywnego, a następnie na kontrolowanej jego pirolizie. Otrzymane powłoki węglowe z hydrofilowych polimerów w istotnym stopniu polepszają właściwości elektryczne i termiczne kompozytów elektrodowych, a jednocześnie zapewniają kanały transportu (dyfuzji) jonów litu przez powłokę węglową. Zaproponowane rozwiązanie umożliwia pełne wykorzystanie korzystnych właściwości materiału aktywnego i poprawia ogólne parametry pracy ogniw litowo-jonowych.

The macroscopic and microscopic morphologies and indigo and indirubin concentration of the traditional Chinese medicine herbs Isatis indigotica Fort., Polygonum tinctorium Ait., and Baphicacanthus cusia (Nees) Bremek, all commonly known as “daqingye”, were determined and compared. The morphological analyses indicated that I. indigotica has leaves with winged petioles and no glandular hairs or crystals, P. tinctorium has leaves with membranous ocrea and clusters of calcium oxalate, and B. cusia has palisade cells in the mesophyll running over the main vein and single cells containing calcium carbonate crystals. Indigo and indirubin are chemical constituents that have been previously isolated from daqingye and were selected in this study as identification markers for high-performance liquid chromatography analysis due to their pharmacological activities. The chromatographic results showed that indigo and indirubin concentration varied significantly among the three species: high concentration of both indigo and indirubin were observed in I. indigotica, the highest concentration among the three daqingye plants was found in P. tinctorium but with low levels of indirubin, and the concentration of indigo and indirubin was quite low in B. cusia. In summary, three different species commonly known as daqingye were accurately distinguished by morphological observation, internal leaf anatomy analysis, and chromatographic analysis.

The article discusses studies and corrosion tests of binary Mg-Li alloys for plastic forming examined in an alkaline medium (5% NaCl solution) for the time of 0-144 hours. In short it can be stated that the increase of Li content in magnesium alloys from 3% to 9% increases the corrosion resistance of alloy (the lowest susceptibility to corrosion in NaCl solution showed Mg- Li9 alloy). Increasing the content of Li in alloy to over 9% resulted in a significant increase of the susceptibility to corrosion.

The aim of this work was to review the current status of recycling techniques and technologies concerning spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). At first existing types of lithium containing batteries were described, then the major properties of LIBs were discussed. Then all kinds of single recycling processes of the spent LIBs were summarized and some examples of typical combined processes were presented.
Celem podjętej pracy było dokonanie przeglądu aktualnego stanu techniki recyklingu i technologii dotyczących akumulatorów litowo-jonowych (LIBS). W pierwszej kolejności opisano istniejące typy baterii litowych, a następnie omówiono główne właściwości LIBS. Podsumowano wszystkie typy jednoetapowych procesów recyklingu zużytych ogniw litowo-jonowych, a także zaprezentowano kilka obiecujących procesów wieloetapowych.

Convection in horizontally vibrated granular systems is significant for scientists and engineers for their importance in the field of mining, geo-physics, and pharmaceutical etc. This research work studied three types of convection rolls, "Homogeneous convection roll", "lower-right diagonal convection roll" and "upper-right diagonal convection roll" which occurred in a square container filled with binary granular particles mixture of sized d=(4.0±0.2) mm and d=(8.0±0.2) mm. Container was vibrated horizontally with low frequencies f and low dimensionless acceleration Γ. Helical movement was observed along the walls perpendicular to direction of motion while straight-line movement along the walls horizontal to direction of motion. Helical and straight-line movements of particles along the walls are the part of convection rolls. A heap appeared due to vibration, which has dominant effect on the convection rolls. Heap position is function of frequency f and dimensionless accelerations Γ.

With the aim of separating Fe and V, a vanadium-titanium magnetite concentrate was selectively reduced, followed by magnetic separation. The processes accompanying reduction of the vanadium-titanium magnetite concentrate were investigated using thermodynamic simulation, experiments, scanning electron microscopy, and electron probe microanalysis. Appropriate reduction conditions and controlling the amount of CaCO3 promoted the reduction of Fe-containing minerals to metallic Fe. V was released from magnetite, ilmenite, and titanomagnetite, and was inhibited to reduce to metallic V, leading to V enrichment in the non-magnetic products in the form of oxides. Moreover, the Fe particles wrapped the slag phase when the amount of CaCO3 exceeded 8%, which is unfavourable for the magnetic separation of Fe and V. Magnetic products with an Fe content of 87.19%, Fe recovery of 82.62%, V content of 0.09% and non-magnetic products with a V content of 1.00% and a V recovery of 85.49% were obtained when the vanadium-titanium magnetite concentrate was reduced for 100 min at 1623 K with a C/O molar ratio of 2.5 and 8% CaCO3, followed by separating at a magnetic field strength of 85 mT.

Opis:
Using intelligent materials and sensors to monitor the safety of concrete structures is a hot topic in the field of civil engineering. In order to realize the omni-directional monitoring of concrete structural damage, the authors of this paper designed and fabricated an embedded annular piezoelectric ultrasonic sensor using the annular piezoelectric lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramic as a sensing element and epoxy resin as the matching and the backing layers. The influence of different matching and backing layers thickness on the acoustic characteristic parameters of the sensor were studied. The results show that the resonant frequency corresponding to the axial mode of annular piezoelectric ceramics moves toward the high frequency direction with the decrease of the height of piezoelectric ceramics, and the radial vibration mode increases as well as the impedance peak. With the thickness of the backing layer increases from 1 mm to 2 mm, the radial resolution of the annular piezoelectric ultrasonic sensor is enhanced, the pulse width is reduced by 39% comparing with the sensors which backing layer is 1 mm, and the head wave amplitude and −3 dB bandwidth are increased by 61% and 66%, respectively. When the matching layer thickness is 3 mm, the sensor has the highest amplitude response of 269 mV and higher sensitivity.

Impacts of precursor solution recipe, processing parameters, and pellet thickness on the lithium ionic conductivity of the ceramic materials with perovskite structure of Li0.3La0.57TiO3 were investigated and new method was proposed to synthesize Li0.3La0.57TiO3 solid state electrolyte. The results showed that ionic conductivity of Li0.3La0.57TiO3 membrane which was synthesized by firstly forming colloidal TiO2 (i.e., TiO2 sol) and then Li+ and La+ were added to the colloidal TiO2 was on the order of 10-5 S/cm. It also showed that the temperatures corresponding to a full decomposition for L0.3La0.57TiO3 is about 750°C and materials start forming perovskite structure when temperature reaches about 900°C and the lithium ionic conductivity gains about 21% increase when the pellet thickness is reduced to about ¼

To improve the groove charge consistency and density and to reduce the initiation synchronicity error of a rigid multi-point initiation explosive network, a CL-20-based ultraviolet (UV)-curable high-explosive ink, comprising 42 wt.% sub-micron CL-20, a 55.4 wt.% binder system (including 2.0 wt.% NC and 53.4 wt.% butyl acetate), and 2.6 wt.% UV-curable resin, based on direct ink writing (DIW) technology, was prepared. The properties of the composite sample deposited via DIW were characterized. The results indicated that the sample had good uniformity, with few defects, and a critical detonation size of around 1.5×0.283 mm. A six-point initiation explosive network was designed for the integration of DIW technology and precise press-loading of the charge. The network featured six pre-pressed booster pellets with the same charge density (ρ0 = 1.89 g·cm−3, 95.8% of theoretical maximum density) as the output end charges, and a groove channel charged by DIW and press-loading. This procedure increased the density of the booster charge in the groove channels to 1.890 g·cm−3, effectively improved the consistency of the charge density between the groove channels and the output ends and lowered the initiation synchronicity error of the network to 62 ns. The network can initiate a jetting projectile charge (JPC) with good shape and small lateral offset, implying that the network initiation capability and synchronization meet the operational requirements of JPC shaped charges.

Opis:
A compressive optical image encryption method, which combines compressive sensing with phase-shifting interferometry on a joint transform correlator, is proposed in the fully optical domain. The object image is first permutated using a binary scrambling method. Next, the permutated object field is encrypted and registered as the holograms by phase-shifting interferometry on the joint transform correlator setup. Then, the encrypted images and the key are compressed to the compressed data using single-pixel compressive imaging. The original image can be reconstructed and decrypted using the specified algorithm. The simulations demonstrate that the method is effective and suitable for image security transmission.

The chaotic behavior of underwater ray system is studied. Because the parabolic equation is an approximation under small ray angle with respect to horizontal, the elliptic equation system is considered here besides the parabolic system. We pay main attention to the interval of large ray angle. A comparison between these two forms of system is performed. We find that when the ray angle is not large (θ_0=0° - 18°), the two systems show the same qualitative behavior. However, in interval of large ray angle (θ_0 ≥ 19°), if the perturbation strength is not very small, e.g. δ=0.05, the parabolic system shows regular motion, while the elliptic system exhibits chaotic behavior in most of this interval except a few quasiperiodic islands studded in the chaotic ocean. Dynamical behaviors of the two systems show surprising difference.

In this study, activated carbon and humic acid powder were fixed by the cross-linking reaction of sodium alginate. Calcium alginate/activated carbon/humic acid (CAH) tri-system porous fibers were prepared by the wet spinning method and freeze-dried for the removal of tetracycline in aqueous solution. Subsequently, the morphology and structure of CAH fibers were measured by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method. The effect of pH, contact time, temperature and other factors on adsorption behavior were analyzed. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were used to fit tetracycline adsorption equilibrium data. The dynamics data were evaluated by the pseudo-second-order model, the pseudo-second-order model and the intraparticle diffusion model. Thermodynamic study confirmed that the adsorption of tetracycline on CAH fibers was a spontaneous process.

As-cast Mg-6Li-0.3Zn-0.6Y and Mg-6Li-1.2Zn-1.2Y (wt%) alloys were prepared and extruded at 260 ºC with an extrusion ratio of 25. The microstructure and mechanical behavior of as-cast and extruded alloys are reported and discussed. The results show that Mg-6Li-1.2Zn- 1.2Y alloy is composed of α-Mg, β-Li, and W-Mg3Zn3Y2 phases while Mg-6Li-0.3Zn-0.6Y alloy contains α-Mg, β-Li, W-Mg3Zn3Y2 phase and X-Mg12ZnY. After hot extrusion, the microstructure of specimens is refined and the average grains size of extruded alloys is 15 μm. Dynamic recrystallization occurs during the extrusion, leading to grain refinement of test alloys. Both the strength and elongation of test alloys are improved by extrusion. The extruded Mg-6Li-0.3Zn-0.6Y alloy possesses an ultimate strength of 225 MPa with an elongation of 18% while the strength and elongation of Mg-6Li-1.2Zn-1.2Y alloy are 206 MPa and 28%, respectively. The X-phase in Mg-6Li-0.3Zn- 0.6Y is beneficial to the improvement of strength, but will lead to the decrease of ductility.

Opis:
Energy storage used in automotive industry is exposed to extreme temperature changes due to wide ambient conditions. Knowing the thermal limitations of Li-Ion based batteries, the vehicle range and usability tests of electric vehicle powered by those cells were conducted under both high and low ambient temperatures. For this purpose, drive tests in climatic dynamometer chamber were performed at several ambient temperature conditions, following UNECE 101 Regulation. During these tests, electric drivetrain parameters were recorded, which enabled further analysis of the obtained results.
Magazyny energii stosowane w pojazdach samochodowych, ze względu na zróżnicowane warunki użytkowania pojazdów, narażone są na skrajne zmiany temperatury. Znając ograniczenia termiczne baterii opartych na ogniwach Li-Ion, zdecydowano się na przeprowadzenie badań zasięgu i poprawności funkcjonowania pojazdu elektrycznego opartego o w/w ogniwa w zakresie wysokich i niskich temperatur otoczenia. W tym celu pojazd został poddany badaniom w klimatyzowanej komorze hamowni podwoziowej wg. wytycznych Regulaminu 101 EKG ONZ w różnych temperaturach otoczenia. W trakcie testów rejestrowano parametry elektrycznego układu napędowego, co pozwoliło na szerszą analizę wyników przeprowadzonych badań.

1. Introduction. A positive number which is a sum of two odd primes is called a Goldbach number. Let E(x) denote the number of even numbers not exceeding x which cannot be written as a sum of two odd primes. Then the Goldbach conjecture is equivalent to proving that
E(x) = 2 for every x ≥ 4.
E(x) is usually called the exceptional set of Goldbach numbers. In [8] H. L. Montgomery and R. C. Vaughan proved that $E(x) = O(x^{1-Δ})$ for some positive constant Δ > 0$. In [3] Chen and Pan proved that one can take Δ >0.01. In [6], we proved thatE(x) = O(x^{0.921})$. In this paper we prove the following result.
Theorem. For sufficiently large x,
$E(x) =O (x^{0.914})$.
Throughout this paper, ε always denotes a sufficiently small positive number that may be different at each occurrence. A is assumed to be sufficiently large, A < Y, and $D = Y^{1+ε}$.

Let \(G_1\) and \(G_2\) be two given graphs. The Ramsey number \(R(G_1,G_2)\) is the least integer \(r\) such that for every graph \(G\) on \(r\) vertices, either \(G\) contains a \(G_1\) or \(\overline{G}\) contains a \(G_2\). Parsons gave a recursive formula to determine the values of \(R(P_n,K_{1,m})\), where \(P_n\) is a path on \(n\) vertices and \(K_{1,m}\) is a star on \(m+1\) vertices. In this note, we study the Ramsey numbers \(R(P_n,K_1\vee F_m)\), where \(F_m\) is a linear forest on \(m\) vertices. We determine the exact values of \(R(P_n,K_1\vee F_m)\) for the cases \(m\leq n\) and \(m\geq 2n\), and for the case that \(F_m\) has no odd component. Moreover, we give a lower bound and an upper bound for the case \(n+1\leq m\leq 2n-1\) and \(F_m\) has at least one odd component.

The low efficiency of wet steam turbine is mainly attributed to wetness losses. To investigate the mechanisms which give rise to these losses, a fully Eulerian model has been developed for calculation of the wet steam flows with spontaneous condensation. In this model, the liquid phase is described with two conservation equations in Eulerian form and coupled with a solver of gas dynamics equations. With such a model, the existing code for simulation of single-phase flows can easily be changed to include wet steam two-phase flows in wet steam turbines. A numerical simulation of condensing flow in a plane turbine cascade is performed, and the numerical results are presented and compared with the experimental results.

In this paper, a new exponential formed vertical distribution of nearshore flow velocity is constructed, which is simpler in form and more suitable for engineering application. The physical meaning of the new formula is more specific than that of Soulsby. Compared with those logarithmic formed ones, the new one does not need the maximum velocity and only needs the mean velocity in vertical, which gives it better engineering practicability. Apply the new formula to Jiangsu coastal area and compare the results with that of Soulsby whose results show the new formula agrees better with the measured flow velocity, which reasonably reflects the basic principles of vertical distribution of flow velocity.

The paper documents on the uses of traditional medicinal plants used for treating human ailments in three villages of Ledong, a county inhabited by Liethnic group in the southwest of Hainan Province, China. Semi-structured interviews, key informant interviews and participatory observations were used to collect ethnobotanical data from February to March 2012 and in July 2013. The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Thirty native knowledgeable people were interviewed. The Li community uses 50 plant species in 36 families for medicinal purposes. The most common medicinal plant families were Leguminosae (14%), Compositae (6%), and Euphorbiaceae (6%), and the most common preparations methods were decoction (84%), crushing (38%), and poultice (34%). The traditional medicinal plants were mainly used for hemostasis (12.9%), body pains (11.4%), gastrointestinal disorders (11.4%), and trauma (10%). Twenty-four species of medicinal plants (48%) have never been reported in the literature of Li medicines. In addition, 22 species (44%) have already been studied by researchers and their extracts or compounds were good bioactives. However, the rapid socioeconomic development in the county is the main threat to the conservation of Li medicine and has resulted in the decrease in the abundance and use of medicinal plants and associated traditional knowledge. Other factors accounting for a decrease in the use of Li medicinal plants like loss of plant diversity, change of land use, and threatened traditional knowledge were equally discussed.

A series of derivatives of azetidine were designed by stepwise replacing the hydrogen atoms of azetidine with nitroimine groups. At the G3MP2 level, the heats of formation (HOFs), bond dissociation energies (BDEs), molecular densities (ρ0), detonation velocities (D), and detonation pressures (P) of the nitroimine-substituted azetidines were investigated to look for high-energy-density compounds (HEDCs). It was found that the nitroimine-substituted azetidines have high HOFs and large BDEs, and sufficient thermal and kinetic stability. Furthermore, the covalent bond strength in the four-membered ring, accompanied by intramolecular hydrogen bonds, are the determining factors for isomer stability. Based on our calculations, derivatives E and F have better detonation performance than RDX and can be regarded as potential high-energy-density compounds. This work may provide basic information for further study of the title compounds.

The paper offers a reconstruction and re-evalutation of the philosophy of history developed by Li Dazhao (1889–1927) – one of the first Chinese Communists. It is argued that despite its marginal treatment in scholarly literature, Li’s philosophy stands out from the thought of other Chinese Marxists for its creative interpretation of historical materialism and a critical engagement with Marx’s view of class struggle and the economic base. Furthermore, in his philosophy of history, Li Dazhao innovatively draws on the Confucian idea of Great Unity (datong), Daoist criticism of heroism, and, most importantly, the concept of ‘life’ in Lebensphilosophie. In addition, the article shows that Li’s view of the historical process was consistently complemented with an exceptional meta-philosophy of history and the philosophy of historiography which shared the premises of the much later narrativist epistemology of history.

Soybean curd is a very popular food containing high-quality protein, polyunsaturated fats, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. This study aims to prepare porous soybean curd xerogels via a vacuum freeze drying method and uses them as adsorbents to remove congo red from aqueous solutions. The morphology and functional groups of the soybean curd xerogels were characterized using scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, respectively. The adsorption properties of congo red onto the soybean curd xerogels were carried out through investigating the influencing experimental parameters such as the drying method, solution pH, adsorbent dose, contact time and temperature. The results showed that the adsorption isotherm data were fitted well to the Freundlich isotherm. Adsorption kinetics of congo red onto the soybean curd followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The thermodynamic parameters, such as ΔG°, ΔH° and ΔS°, were also determined.

Interaction between mineral particles during ascharite flotation was investigated by flotation, zeta potential, Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory, atomic force microscope (AFM) and SEM-EDS tests. Flotation results showed that the ascharite recovery decreased significantly in the presence of serpentine. In order to improve the ascharite recovery, negative charged quartz was used to limit the detrimental effect of serpentine on ascharite flotation in this research. The effect of quartz on improving ascharite recovery was attributed to the particle surface interactions. The DLVO theory was applied to study the particles interaction in the aqueous solution. The fitting curves showed that serpentine could attach to the surface of quartz easily, and quartz would be well dispersed with ascharite. Therefore, quartz can improve the ascharite flotation performance effectively by interaction between particles. Zeta potential tests showed the opposite charges on the surfaces of mineral particles, which was the basic reason leading to particles interaction. The force measurement results of AFM indicated that the attraction force existed between serpentine and ascharite, as well as serpentine and quartz, but the force between quartz and ascharite was repulsive. The DLVO theory was in a good agreement with the results of AFM. Eventually, particles coating were observed by SEM-EDS, which supported the results of DLVO theory and AFM measurements. During the flotation process, addition of quartz would lead to attachment of serpentine to the quartz surface, so the adverse effect of serpentine on decreasing floatability of ascharite was weakened.

The overarching aim was to reduce the frequency of connection failures that occur due to the connection speed and reliability, and identify, characterise and optimise the key process input variables (KPIVs). An experimental research approach with an inbuilt planned manipulation to one or more variables in the experimental data set was adopted. Key elements of the Six-Sigma methodology were applied to resolve the issue of high failures due to connection speed and reliability between two Li-Fi transceivers. KPIVs were successfully identified, characterised and optimised to implement a permanent corrective action to ensure a reduction in connection failures from 17% to 0%. The alignment between two Li-Fi transceivers along with Li-Fi cut-out was found to be critical in achieving good connection speed and reliability. The interference due to ambient visible spectrum lighting found to be statistically insignificant. This study explored the application and benefits of accessible wireless data communication technologies. Moreover, it sheds light on the probable factors that may influence Li-Fi connection speed and areas for future research. The current research provides a Six- Sigma based solution to high connection failure rates while using an infrared-based Li-Fi transceiver. Results also offer insights into the analytical tools that were found to be effective during the problem-solving process.

Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the dominant reason of diabetic visual loss, so early detection and treatment of DME is of great significance for the treatment of diabetes. Based on transfer learning, an automatic classification method is proposed to distinguish DME images from normal images in optical coherence tomography (OCT) retinal fundus images. Features of the DME are automatically identified and extracted by the pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN), which only involves fine-tuning the VGGNet-16 network without any user intervention. An accuracy of 97.9% and a sensitivity of 98.0% are acquired with the OCT images in the Duke data set from experimental results. The proposed method, a core part of an automated diagnosis system of the DME, revealed the ability of fine-tuning models to train non-medical images, allowing them can be classified with limited training data. Moreover, it can be developed to assist early diagnosis of the disease, effectively delaying (or avoiding) the progression of the disease, consequently.

The phosphate rock flotatio n test was carried out using Escherichia coli E. coli ) as a depressant of dolomite. The results showed that E. coli had a great selective depression on dolomite during flotation. With E. coli as a depressant of dolomite, a useful beneficiation index of phosphorus concentrate with P2O5 grade of more than 30% and MgO content less than 1.2% can be obtained by closed circuit of one stage roughing and one stage cleaning. Furthermore, the depression mechanism of E. coli was studied by ad sorption experiments, infrared spectrum, and zeta potential. This study shows that the adsorption ability of E. coli onto dolomite is stronger than that of collophanite. When the pH is greater than 6, E. coli are chemically adsorbed on the surface of the c ollophanite and dolomite,which also increases the negative charge on the surface of the two minerals. The selective adsorption of E. coli cells to dolomite was best when the pH value is about 7.8.

In this work it is designed and obtained the multicomponent material with the formula 0.6075PMN-0.2025PT-0.09PS- 0.1PFN:Li (PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li) for applications in multilayer ceramic capacitors MLCC. Obtaining of PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li was done by two alternative methods of synthesis. In the first method a PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li has been obtained from simple compounds (oxides, carbonates), in the second method the complex compounds (MgNb2O6 and FeNbO4) and simple compounds (oxides PbO, TiO2 and carbonate Li2CO3) were used. From synthesized powder of PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li the ceramic samples were obtained which have next undergone comprehensive investigations. The X-ray investigations, as well as ferroelectric, dielectric and elastic investigations have been made.
W pracy zaprojektowano i otrzymano wieloskładnikowy materiał o wzorze 0.6075PMN-0.2025PT-0.09PS-0.1PFN:Li (PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li) dla zastosowań na podłoża do wielowarstwowych kondensatorów MLCC. Otrzymywanie materiału PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li było prowadzone dwiema metodami syntetyzowania. W pierwszej metodzie do otrzymania PMN-PT-PS- PFN:Li zastosowano syntetyzowanie prostych związków (tlenki, węglany), w drugiej metodzie zastosowano syntetyzowanie złożonych związków (MgNb2O6 i FeNbO4), oraz prostych związków (tlenków PbO, TiO2 i węglanu Li2CO3). Z syntetyzowanego proszku materiału PMN-PT-PS-PFN:Li otrzymano ceramiczne próbki które zostały poddane kompleksowym badaniom. Przeprowadzono badania rentgenowskie, mikrostrukturalne oraz ferroelektrycznych, dielektrycznych i sprężystych właściwości.

Triboelectrostatic beneficiation is an effective technique to remove unburned carbon from fly ash. The purpose of this study is to enhance the particles tribocharging, and improve the efficiency of removal unburned carbon from fly ash using electrical heating. An experimental system with electrical heating was established to realize the tribocharging measurement and fly ash triboelectrostatic beneficiation. The experimental material collected from a thermal power station was fly ash with an average loss on ignition of 20.76%. The operating conditions were electric field voltage of 40KV and air flow rate ranging from 1.7 to 4.25 m/s. The influence of heating temperature and heating position on tribocharging and triboelectrostatic beneficiation was discussed. The feasibility of electrical heating was evaluated by the charge-to-mass ratio (CMR), loss on ignition (LOI) and removal unburnt carbon rate (RCR). The results indicate that the increasing of collision probability for heated particles can improve the charging efficiency. The heating temperature related to gas moisture content and particles dielectric constant is inversely proportional to the LOI of ash, whereas it is opposite for the RCR. The heating position has an effect on the CMR and RCR because of changed contact time between charged particles and compressed air. The optimum conditions are the air flow rate of 4.25 m/s, heating temperature of 90℃. Heating tube III is suitable to install electrical heating system. The electrical heating is proved to be effective to improve the efficiency of fly ash triboelectrostatic beneficiation.

A large amount of fugitive coal dust is generated during the mining, transportation, and processing of coal. The moisture content of the coal dust has a significant influence on the dust collection performance of filters, although relatively few studies on this phenomenon exist. This study deals with six groups of coal dust samples with moisture contents ranging from 0 to 12 wt.% and tested the pressure drop as the coal dust was deposited onto three different types of filters. The specific resistance, compression coefficient, and porosity of the coal dust cake were analyzed, and the cake/filter adhesive force was tested using the reverse flow cleaning method. This research demonstrates that the influence of the moisture content on the specific resistance, compression coefficient, and porosity of the coal dust cake can be divided into two phases (according to the critical moisture content of 4 wt.%): first, as the moisture content increased from 0 to 4 wt.%, the cake resistance and compression coefficient increased and the cake porosity decreased; and second, as the moisture content increased from 4 to 12 wt.%, the cake resistance and compression coefficient decreased and the porosity increased. The coated and repellent filters possessed a lower adhesive force on the coal dust cake than the conventional filter. The comparison of all three of the filters revealed that the adhesive force between the repellent filter and the dust cake was the least sensitive to the moisture content.

The article presents the results of tests of plastic shaping of magnesium alloy Mg-Li. Magnesium alloy for an extrusion process was obtained with the method of vacuum smelting and casting into graphite moulds. The materials for tests were slabs cast from magnesium alloys with symbols: Mg-4%Li-1%Ca (LX41). Before the process of deformation the castings were subject to homogenization. Conventional extrusion tests were conducted in a complex state of deformation (KoBo method). An assessment was performed of the influence of the deformation process parameters on the structure and properties of the tested alloy. Results of mechanical tests were presented both for static compression test in room temperature. On the basis of the achieved tests results, the susceptibility to plastic working for the Mg-4%Li-1%Ca alloy was determined. An analysis of the microstructure was conducted both in the initial condition and after plastic deformation with the use of light and scanning microscopy techniques. The applied deformation methods allowed the determination of the influence of process parameters on changes in the microstructure and properties of the Mg-4%Li-1%Ca alloy.

In this paper, the performances of a wavelength interrogation-based optical fiber surface plasmon resonance sensor for hemoglobin (Hb) concentration is investigated by theoretical simulation. The proposed configuration incorporates optical fiber, 70 nm silver, 18 nm barium titanate (BaTiO3), and 2 nm zinc oxide. Simulation results show the sensor exhibits refractive index sensitivity of 4023 nm/RIU and concentration sensitivity of 10.0873 nm/(g∙dL), along with Hb concentration varying from 0 to 14 g/dL. This paper especially focuses on the influence of BaTiO3 on the performances of the proposed sensor with light wavelength ranging from 350 to 1000 nm. Comparison analysis indicates sandwiching 18 nm BaTiO3 between sensing layers not only enhances the concentration sensitivity by 30.14% but also decreases the nonlinear error of the sensor from 0.68% to 0.63%. For a wavelength accuracy of 0.1 nm, the proposed sensor can provide a resolution of 0.0099 g/dL for Hb concentration detection.

With the increasing demand for efficient and economic energy storage, tin disulfide (SnS2), as one of the most attractive anode candidates for the next generation high-energy rechargeable Li-ion battery, have been paid more and more attention because of its high theoretical energy density and cost effectiveness. In this study, a new, simple and effective process, mechanical alloying (MA), has been developed for preparing fine anode material tin disulfides, in which ammonium chloride (AC), referred to as process control agents (PCAs), were used to prevent excessive cold-welding and accelerate the synthesis rates to some extent. Meanwhile, in order to decrease the mean size of SnS2 powder particles and improve the contact areas between the active materials, wet milling process was also conducted with normal hexane (NH) as a solvent PCA. The prepared powders were both characterized by X-ray diffraction, Field emission-scanning electron microscopeand particle size analyzer. Finally, electrochemical measurements for Li/SnS2 cells were takenat room temperature, using a two-electrode cell assembled in an argon-filled glove box and the electrolyte of 1M LiPF6 in a mixture of ethylene carbonate(EC)/dimethylcarbonate (DMC)/ethylene methyl carbonate (EMC) (volume ratio of 1:1:1).

Dynamic properties are vital for the working reliability of aft stern tube bearings. However, the determination of such properties currently involves several simplifications and assumptions. To obtain its dynamic characteristics accurately, the aft stern tube bearing was divided into several bearing segments. The oil film reaction force was considered in the calculation of shaft alignment, and the journal deflection and actual oil film thickness were obtained accordingly. Subsequently, the perturbed Reynolds equation was solved using the finite difference method when the dynamic characteristics of journal bearings with finite width were evaluated. Then, a calculation program was developed and verified by comparing with the results of other studies. Finally, the dynamic characteristics were calculated under different revolutions. The results showed that the stiffness at the vertical direction of the aft stern tube bearing was several times that of the horizontal direction and varied with the revolutions of the shafting system. These findings can provide the foundation for the precise calculation of the journal trajectory under dynamic conditions, as well as for the evaluation of the oil film thickness. Moreover, the results led to favorable conditions for the accurate calculation of the shafting whirling vibration.

In order to obtain the broadband scattering characteristics, we propose a superperiodic cell structure with all-dielectric material to construct Pancharatnam–Berry geometric phase encoding metasurfaces. Because we cannot design or prepare infinitesimal coding unit particles, according to the generalized Snell’s law, we can only obtain discrete scattering angle regulation for the basic coding metasurface sequence. In order to obtain multi-angle scattering characteristics, we introduce the Fourier convolution principle in digital signal processing on the Pancharatnam–Berry geometric phase encoding metasurfaces. By using the addition and subtraction operations on two encoding metasurface sequences, a new encoding metasurface sequence can be obtained with different deflection angle. Fourier convolution operations on the encoding metasurfaces can provide an efficient method in optimizing encoding patterns to achieve continuous scattering beams. The addition and subtraction methods are also applicable to the checkerboard coding mode. The combination of Fourier convolution principle and Pancharatnam–Berry phase coded metasurface in digital signal processing can realize more powerful electromagnetic wave manipulation capability.

Insulin resistance (IR) plays a critical role in metabolic syndrome (MS). Previous studies have demonstrated that activated ROCK is increased in MS patients. However, the effect of Rho-kinase (ROCK) on IR has not been definitely determined. Thus, the aims of the present study were to determine whether ROCK activation induces IR or affects myocardial structure and function, as well as the possible mechanisms underlying this process. Wistar rats fed high fat, high glucose and high salt diet sewed as model of MS and we used transmission electron microscopy, echocardiogram technology, and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated DNA nick-end labeling staining to identify any myocardial damage. The protein levels of MYPT-1 (characteristic of ROCK activation), IRS-1 and AKT were analyzed by immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. In hearts from MS rats, we found increased protein levels of phospho-MYPT-1 and phospho-IRS-1 (Ser307) and decreased phospho-AKT compared to levels in normal rats. In conclusion, the results suggest that ROCK-mediated IR is involved in the development of myocardial impairments in MS rats and that this effect is mediated probably via the IRS-1/PI3-kinase/AKT pathway.

In this paper, we established a connection between the Laplacian eigenvalues of a signed graph and those of a mixed graph, gave a new upper bound for the largest Laplacian eigenvalue of a signed graph and characterized the extremal graph whose largest Laplacian eigenvalue achieved the upper bound. In addition, an example showed that the upper bound is the best in known upper bounds for some cases.

A quantitative study is performed to determine the performance degradation of Y-shaped reinforced concrete bridge piers owing to long-term freeze-thaw damage. The piers are discretized into spatial solid elements using the ANSYS Workbench finite element analysis software, and a spatial model is established. The analysis addresses the mechanical performance of the piers under monotonic loading, and their seismic performance under low-cycle repeated loading. The influence of the number of freeze-thaw cycles, axial compression ratio, and loading direction on the pier bearing capacity index and seismic performance index is investigated. The results show that freeze-thaw damage has an adverse effect on the ultimate bearing capacity and seismic performance of Y-shaped bridge piers in the transverse and longitudinal directions. The pier peak load and displacement ductility coefficient decrease with increasing number of freeze-thaw cycles. The axial compression ratio is an important factor that affects the pier ultimate bearing capacity and seismic performance. Upon increasing the axial compression ratio, the pier peak load increases and the displacement ductility coefficient decreases, the effects of which are more significant in the longitudinal direction.

Stigmasterol has been shown exihbit anti-osteoarthritic properties in vitro studies. However, the in vivo effects of stigmasterol on cartilage are still unclear. This study investigated the anti-osteoarthritic properties of stigmasterol on cartilage degradation in a rabbit model of osteoarthritis (OA). Twenty rabbits underwent bilateral anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) to induce OA. Five rabbits were used as normal control. Two weeks after operation, the rabbits were randomly divided into two groups. Each group of 10 rabbits received intra-articular injection with 0.3 ml of stigmasterol in left knees and vehicle in right knees, once weekly. Group 1 was killed 6 weeks after ACLT and 2 were sacrificed 9 weeks after ACLT. The knee joints were assessed by gross morphology, histology and gene expression analysis. We found that expression of genes encoding matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) was significantly higher while tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase (TIMP)-1 was significantly lower in the both joints of the two OA groups compared to normal contrals. Stigmasterol reduced the cartilage degradation as assessed by histological analysis and markedly suppressed MMPs expression both in group 1 and group 2. Our results suggest that stigmasterol may be considered as a possible therapeutical agent in the treatment of OA.

Light fidelity (Li-Fi) systems based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) scheme have gained more attention in the communications circles, as a means to provide high spectral efficiency and ensure stricter data rate requirements for visible light communication (VLC) systems. However, common OFDM schemes employ Hermitian symmetry to obtain a real-valued signal which is necessary in intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD) optical systems, at the expense of doubling the required bandwidth. In this paper, a novel transmission scheme for an OFDM-based Li-Fi system is proposed to tackle the issue in question. A new approach to complex signal mapping (CSM), based on the pairing function method, has been developed for Li-Fi systems. It does not require Hermitian symmetry and, hence, saves about 50% of the required bandwidth. Unlike existing OFDM-based VLC approaches, the proposed scheme employs CSM to ensure a real and positive signal without Hermitian symmetry in order to fully utilize the bandwidth available to Li-Fi networks. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms other systems in terms of spectral efficiency. The CSM-OFDM based Li-Fi system also achieves a good peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction with acceptable bit-error-rate (BER) performance, compared to conventional approaches.

In this paper, we propose a new method of measuring the target velocity by estimating the scaling parameter of a chaos-generating system. First, we derive the relation between the target velocity and the scaling parameter of the chaos-generating system. Then a new method for scaling parameter estimation of the chaotic system is proposed by exploiting the chaotic synchronization property. Finally, numerical simulations show the effectiveness of the proposed method in target velocity measurement.

The longitudinal motion characteristics of a slender trimaran equipped with and without a T-foil near the bow are investigated by experimental and numerical methods. Computational fluid dynamics ( CFD) method is used in this study. The seakeeping characteristics such as heave, pitch and vertical acceleration in head regular waves are analyzed in various wave conditions. Numerical simulations have been validated by comparisons with experimental tests. The influence of large wave amplitudes and size of T-foil on the longitudinal motion of trimaran are analyzed. The present systematic study demonstrates that the numerical results are in a reasonable agreement with the experimental data. The research implied that the longitudinal motion response values are greatly reduced with the use of T-foil.

This research focused on correlations between the macroscopic mechanical performance and microstructures of energetic binders. Initially a series of glycidyl azide polymer (GAP)/toluene diisocyanate (TDI) binders, catalyzed by a mixture of dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL) and triphenyl bismuth (TPB), was prepared. Uniaxial tensile testing, and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared spectroscopy were then used to investigate the mechanical properties, curing networks, and hydrogen bonding (H-bonds) of these binders. Additionally, a novel method based on the molecular theory of elasticity and the statistical theory of rubber elasticity was used to analyze the integrity of the networks. The results showed that the curing parameter R strongly influences the mechanical properties and toughness of the binders, and that a tensile stress (σm) of 1.6 MPa and an elongation (εm) of 1041% was observed with an R value of 1.6. The cross-linking density increased sharply with the curing parameter, but only modestly with an R value ≥ 1.8. The proportion of H-bonds formed by the imino groups increased with the R value and reached 72.61% at an R value of 1.6, indicating a positive correlation between the H-bonds and σm. Molecular entanglement was demonstrated to increase with R and to contribute dramatically to the mechanical performance. The integrity of these networks, evaluated by a correction factor (A), varies with R, and a network of the GAP/TDI binder with an R value of 1.6 is desirable.

A novel surface-plasmon-enhanced GaN-LED is proposed to improve the emission efficiency of the traditional LED. The SiO2 film, Ag triangular structure and ITO film were coated on the rectangularly-patterned p-GaN layer sequentially, which can form the quasi-symmetrical waveguide structure to enhance the internal quantum efficiency and the light extraction efficiency. The COMSOL software is used to simulate the LED structure. The radiated powers, absorbed powers and distribution of electric field are obtained and analyzed. The results reveal that emission efficiency of the proposed GaN-LED can be greatly improved.

In order to completely eliminate, or greatly reduce the number of phase wraps in 2D wrapped phase map, Gdeisat and co-workers proposed an algorithm, which uses shifting the spectrum towards the origin. But the spectrum can be shifted only by an integer number, meaning that the phase wraps reduction is often not optimal. In addition, Gdeisat’s method will take much time to make the Fourier transform, inverse Fourier transform, select and shift the spectral components. In view of the above problems, we proposed an improved method for phase wraps elimination or reduction. First, the wrapped phase map is padded with zeros, the carrier frequency of the projected fringe is determined by high resolution, which can be used as the moving distance of the spectrum. And then realize frequency shift in spatial domain. So it not only can enable the spectrum to be shifted by a rational number when the carrier frequency is not an integer number, but also reduce the execution time. Finally, the experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method is feasible.

All-optical logic is the key to future high speed and large capacity optical transmission, the realization of optical packet switching and optical computing, and it has a very profound influence on the development of future optical communication. A linear optical amplifier as a new type of semiconductor optical amplifier, which has a good gain characteristic, has better signal performance than a traditional semiconductor optical amplifier in the wavelength conversion. This article presents a numerical simulation model of all-optical logic XOR gate and its logic operation based on cross-gain modulation of linear optical amplifier, and has also completed some of the basic logic operations, including AND, OR, NOT operations.

CuO and (Li–doped CuO) thin films have been prepared on glass substrates by sol-gel method using spin coating technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results reveal that the deposited CuO and (Li– doped CuO) thin films monoclinic crystal structure and the grain size increase with increasing concentration Li. The optical transition in the CuO and (Li– doped CuO) thin films are observed to be allowed direct transition. The value of the optical energy gap decreases with increasing of (Li) for all samples.

Underwater gliders are winged, autonomous underwater vehicles that are broadly applied in physical and biological oceanography. The position of the wing has an important effect on the movement performance of the underwater glider. In this paper, the dynamic motion of a series of underwater glider models with different longitudinal wing positions are simulated, which provides guidance for the design of underwater gliders. The results show that when the net buoyancy is constant, the wing position affects the gliding angle, but does not affect the relationship between the gliding angle and the gliding speed. In addition, the farther the wing position of the glider is from the buoyancy centre, the longer it takes for the attitude of a glider to change, whether the wing is in front of, or behind, the buoyancy centre.

Wind energy is a clean and renewable source of energy. This study seeks to explore the potential for utilising wind power for merchant ships. A new type of Flettner rotor (rotating cylinder) mounted on the superstructure of a ship is proposed and numerically simulated. The construction and installation of the rotating cylinder is designed and a numerical simulation of the ship-mounted cylinder is carried out, using the commercially available CFD code Ansys Fluent to obtain parameters such as lift and drag coefficient of the cylinder in different conditions. Specifically, it is found that the cylinder type superstructure can play a certain role in reducing the effect of friction by comparing traditional and cylindrical superstructures; the rotating cylinder can generate auxiliary thrust for the ship. After analysis, the wind speed around the cylinder and spin ratio will have a direct influence on its thrust effect; there is an inflection point in the lift coefficient with the increase of α; the thrust coefficient (8.63) reaches the maximum environmental wind speed at 10 m/s and spin ratio is 2.5. For the rotating cylinder, the greater the environmental wind, the greater the thrust contribution generated under the same spin ratio conditions. The maximum thrust can reach 750,000 N; the cylinder’s auxiliary propulsion contribution shows a better advantage in α = 2.0. The effective power generated by the cylinder reaches a maximum of 2,240 kW for environmental wind speed = 20 m/s and α = 1.0.

The electronic structure of rhodochrosite containing impurity defects is studied by using the first principles density functional theory. The energy band structure, density of states and electronic distribution are calculated for rhodochrosite crystal models with various impurities (e.g., Cu, Ca, Mg, Zn, Fe). This paper discusses the effects of such defects on the electronic structure of rhodochrosite. The calculation results show that the impurity defects have a great impact on the surface electrical properties of rhodochrosite. For example, Ca and Mg impurities reduce the semiconductor width of rhodochrosite. Both Ca and Mg atoms in orbital bonding act as electron donors in which Ca3p and Mg2p orbits provide electrons while O2p orbits receive electrons. Moreover, the more number of valence electrons of Mn is the weaker covalent interaction between Mn and O atoms will be. Meanwhile, decrease of the total energy of rhodochrosite, makes the structure more stable. When Fe, Zn and Cu impurities are contained, the forbidden gap becomes narrower, which improves the conductivity of rhodochrosite. In addition, impurity bands will be formed in the 3d orbits of rhodochrosite as shown in its density of states, and the number of electrons in 3d orbits will increase. This weakens the covalence of O atoms, decreases the population values of O-Mn, increases the bond length, and enhances the ionicity of O-Mn bonds. The impurity of all defects considered in this study have shown an improved conductivity of rhodochrosite, and increased hole concentration of Mn atoms, which will be of great benefit to the adsorption of anionic collectors and enhance the electrochemical properties for rhodochrosite flotation process.

The motion characteristics of mineral particles in a modified fluidized bed (mFB) with inclined plates have been studied both theoretically and experimentally. A particulate sedimentation model is built on the fluidization superficial velocity, terminal settling velocity, the device dimensions, the particle properties, and the volume fraction of the particulate suspensions in the inclined channel, which is to describe the motion behavior of particles in mono-disperse suspensions. The experimental particles are a mixture of silica and sand particles with the sizes in the range of 425 - 710 μm and 710 - 880 μm, respectively. Further, the model is extended to describe bi-disperse suspensions. The experimental system is established to be consistent with the theoretical arrangements, aiming to provide more accurate measurements. Specifically, the prediction results are in good agreement with the experimental data with the absolute deviation less than 11%. The results showed that the average solid volume fraction in the inclined channel fluctuates slightly for a given total solid inventory. The theoretical model is of certain practical significance for applications of this system to the classification, separation, and desliming of minerals.

In this work, low rank coal was used for the removal of nonylphenol ethoxylate with fifteen ethylene oxide groups (NPEO15) from aqueous solutions at different contact times, temperatures, and initial adsorbent concentrations. The adsorption isotherms showed good fit with the Langmuir equation. Maximum adsorption capacities calculated at 308, 318, and 328 K were 23.64, 29.41, and 35.71 mg g–1, respectively. The changes in the free energy of adsorption (ΔG°), enthalpy (ΔH°), and entropy (ΔS°) were calculated in order to predict the nature of adsorption. The results of the thermodynamic analysis indicated that a spontaneous process took place, driven synergistically by both enthalpy and entropy. The adsorption kinetics of NPEO15 were consistent with a pseudo-second order reaction model. XPS results showed that the oxygen functional groups on the low rank coal surface were significantly covered by NPEO15. Furthermore, while the content of C–C/C–H functional groups increased significantly, that of C–O functional groups decreased after absorption. These results clearly indicate that low rank coal is more hydrophobic and displays better floatability.

Opis:
The influence of tongue weight on a Trailer-Mounted Recreational Vehicle (TMRV) is studied. A multi-body dynamic model of the TMRV was established, three typical vehicle stability tests were carried out. Tongue weight had different effects on the tractor and Recreational Vehicle (RV). According to different loads, the critical tongue weight range was given. In addition, the tongue weight of the existing models was optimized and suggestions for improvement were put forward. The analysis results show that the tongue weight should be within a reasonable range which can ensure the tractor understeer and keep the lateral stability of the RV.

Although the flotation behaviors of iron concentrate and quartz are significantly different, quartz is the primary factor that affects the quality of iron concentrate. The flotation mechanism of quartz in the presence of mixed cationic Ca2+/Fe3+-co-activated SDS catcher was studied by conducting flotation tests with pure quartz mineral. The solution chemical calculation method, zeta potential calculation method, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy technique, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) technique, and other techniques were used to conduct the studies. The results showed that the maximum Ca2+/Fe3+-based synergistic activation of the flotation recovery process could be achieved in a certain range of pH values when three different activators were added sequentially. Analysis of the zeta potential values revealed that the Ca2+/Fe3+-activated quartz surface improved the extent of positive electricity generated and enhanced the SDS adsorption ability of the quartz surface. Results obtained using the FT-IR technique revealed that Ca2+/Fe3+ exerted a synergistic effect, and the adsorption process exploited the single oxygen bond interactions in the monovalent hydroxyl complex Ca(OH)+ and the double oxygen bond interactions in the Fe(OH)3 precipitates. Results obtained using the XPS technique revealed that the synergistic effect exerted by Ca2+/Fe3+ was significantly stronger than that exerted by Ca2+ or Fe3+ alone. The stable Fe-based six-membered chelate ring was formed on the surface of quartz when Fe3+ was the activator, and the chain-like Ca-based complex was formed when Ca2+ was the activator. The adsorption process on the surface of quartz proceeded following chemical as well as physical adsorption pathways. The results revealed that Ca(OH)+ and Fe(OH)3 played prominent roles during the activation of quartz surfaces in the presence of Ca2+/Fe3+.

In this study, spinel $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ materials were successfully synthesized by a simple and facile sol-gel process and electroless copper deposition techniques. The characteristics of the as-prepared $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ and $Cu-Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ were examined by X-ray diffraction and scanning electronic microscopy, while the electrochemical performances including charge/discharge and rate performance tests were also investigated. $Cu-Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode demonstrated the superior initial discharge capacity and rate capability to $Li_4Ti_5O_{12}$ electrode, cycled between 1.0 and 2.5 V. The enhanced rate capability can be attributed to the higher $Li^{+}$ diffusivity and lower charge-transfer resistance due to the electroless deposition of copper. Moreover, when both electrodes discharged with 80 C state of discharge conditions, the reversible capacities were further increased ım70 mAh $g^{-1}$ with excellent cycling stability and almost no irreversible capability was observed during cycling.

Every year, the production of industrial phosphoric acid generates more than 100 Tg of phosphogypsum (PG), leading to significant environmental damage and the occupation of a vast amount of land space. The urgent need to explore applications for PG has become increasingly apparent. However, impurities such as organic substances, slime, phosphorite, and SiO2 reduce the whiteness of PG, making it difficult to utilize for high-value applications. To address this issue, this study employed a two-stage flotation process to remove the majority of impurities, including SiO2, organic substances, and fine slime adhered to the surface of PG particles. The raw PG sample was first sieved to remove some SiO2 particles. After flotation, sulfuric acid and tributyl phosphate were introduced to decompose the PG particles and remove the impurities wrapped inside. Following this flotation combined extraction process, the whiteness of the PG sample improved from 54.1% to 92.9%, meeting the requirements for building walls and filters.

Ciągły wzrost sprzedaży pojazdów elektrycznych wymusza nieustanny rozwój technologii ogniw potrzebnych do budowy baterii trakcyjnych, które są jednym z najistotniejszych komponentów samochodu zasilanego energią elektryczną. Wobec tego zdecydowano się na przeprowadzenie szeregu prób mających na celu porównanie zachowania wybranych ogniw w założonych warunkach otoczenia oraz obciążenia. Przeprowadzone próby miały odzwierciedlić skrajne warunki pracy ogniw w pojeździe samochodowym, dzięki czemu uzyskane wyniki mogą istotnie pomóc np. w doborze ogniwa do pojazdów elektrycznych.

Chinese translations of Polish literature have a history of more than a hundred years. The first person who introduced Polish literature to Chinese people is the famous writer Lu Xun. He not only made it easier for the Chinese to read and understand Middle-Eastern literature, but he also encouraged other writers to translate and promote Polish literature in China. After 1949, the first batch of Chinese overseas students arrived in Poland, sponsored by the government of the newly founded People’s Republic of China. They have become the main translation and promotion force for Polish literature up to now. In the 21st century, young scholars at Polish Studies departments in China try to undertake more tasks. In chronological order, this article observes and discusses both the history of Chinese translations of Polish literature as well as its features.

Based on the respective characteristics of line-commutated converter highvoltage direct current (LCC-HVDC) and voltage-source converter high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC), two additional emergency DC power support (EDCPS) controllers are designed, respectively. In addition a coordinated control strategy based on a hybrid multi-infeed HVDC system for EDCPS is proposed. Considering the difference in system recovery between LCC-HVDC and VSC-HVDC in EDCPS, according to the magnitude of the amount of potential power loss, the LCC-HVDC and VSC-HVDC priority issues of boosting power for EDCPS are discussed in detail. Finally, a hybrid three-infeed HVDC that consists of two parallel LCC-HVDCs and one VSC-HVDC that is built in PSCAD/EMTDC are simulated. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified based on this hybrid three-infeed HVDC system.

Opis:
The microphone data collected in aeroacoustic wind tunnel test contains not only desired aeroacoustic signal but also background noise generated by the jet or the valve of the wind tunnel, so the desired aeroacoustic characteristics is difficult to be highlighted due to the low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR). Classical cross spectral matrix removal can only reduce the microphone self-noise, but its effect is limited for jet noise. Therefore, an Airflow Background Noise Suppression method based on the Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (ABNSEEMD) is proposed to eliminate the influence of background noise on aeroacoustic field reconstruction. The new method uses EEMD to adaptively separate the background noise in microphone data, which has good practicability for increasing SNR of aeroacoustic signal. A localization experiment was conducted by using two loudspeakers in wind tunnel with 80 m/s velocity. Results show that proposed method can filter out the background noise more effectively and improve the SNR of the loudspeakers signal compared with spectral subtraction and cepstrum methods. Moreover, the aeroacoustic field produced by a NACA EPPLER 862 STRUT airfoil model was also measured and reconstructed. Delay-and-sum beamforming maps of aeroacoustic source were displayed after the background noise was suppressed, which further demonstrates the proposed method’s advantage.

Opis:
A new T-type connection structure consisting of composite sandwich plates, reinforced cores and adhesive was proposed for the construction of lightweight ships to resolve connection problems between bulkheads and decks of composite lightweight ship superstructures. Based on the design principles and mechanical properties of composite structures, the mechanical behaviour of the structure under a dangerous loading condition was investigated. In addition, the ultimate bearing capacities and damage modes were examined, the results of which demonstrated that the strength of the structure is weak, and that the adhesive and reinforced core between the face plate and the web plate is the primary weakness of the structure. A numerical simulation method was verified using the results of the mechanical tests, and five characteristic paths at the connection area were established. The stresses and displacements along the five paths were calculated using the numerical method. Then, variations in the geometric parameter and the strength and weight of the connection were summarised. The optimal angle of the adhesive bonding area is approximately 60°, which supports the optimal design and practical application of the lightweight ship adhesive-bonded connection structure.

Triboelectrostatic beneficiation, as a physical method, of fly ash cannot only meet the technical requirements of fly ash application but also recycle of an unburned carbon as a useful energy source. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of improving efficiency of triboelectrostatic beneficiation of wet fly ash using microwave heating. The wet fly ash with different moisture contents had an average loss-on-ignition of 12.56%. The fly ash samples were heated in a microwave oven before the experiments. The experimental conditions were electric field voltage of 40 kV and air flux ranging from 12 to 30 m3/h. The influence of the microwave heating on the wet fly ash triboelectrostatic beneficiation was discussed under the conditions of different microwave intensity and irradiation time. The results indicated that the removal rate and recycle rate of the unburned carbon showed a significant increase performance as the wet fly ash was processed by the microwave heating which was attributed to changes of moisture contents and dielectric constants caused by the microwave heating. The feasibility had been verified according to the experimental study on fly ash with different moisture contents. It can be concluded that the microwave heating process was efficiently applied for the wet fly ash triboelectrostatic beneficiation.

Lithium-ion batteries are not situable for electric vehicles with high millage, military power supplies and fixed power networks. Therefore, the Li-S batteries have been intensively investigated, due to the high capacity, low cost, widespread source, and nontoxicity. The development of Li-S batteries causes increasing need to find the methods for their recycling. Some of them are discussed in the paper. The recycling of Li-S cell relates to its anode, cathode, electrolyte, binder and separator. The Li-S battery should be fully charged before recycling. There are potential methods for recycling of lithium from anodes, especially by re-melting. It is also possible to recycle some materials from the cathodes, especially sulfur by re-melting and graphite by dry crushing, Eco-bat Technologies method or the method investigated by Xiang et al. There is no effective recycling methods for electrolytes, binders and separators. It is necessary to carry out further studies on them.
