The aim of the article is analysis (structure and direction of development) of Polish foreign direct investments in the Ukraine. The article consists of four parts: first shows the definition of FDI and some aspects and economic conceptions explaining the conditions of their undertaking by companies. The second part presents the economic situation of Ukraine as a country for FDI localization; the third part presents the legal and administrative conditions of business conditions in this country, and fourth shows the characteristics of FDI made in Ukraine by Polish entrepreneurs. Materials for the preparation of this article were collected at the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine and at the Faculty of Industry and Trade of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Kiev. The data included also the elaboration of O.W. Polowin posted by Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Celem artykułu jest analiza (struktura i kierunki rozwoju) polskich BIZ na Ukrainie. Artykuł składa się z czterech części: w pierwszej została przedstawiona definicja BIZ oraz różne ekonomiczne koncepcje tłumaczące warunki ich podejmowania przez przedsiębiorstwa; w części drugiej przedstawiono sytuację gospodarczą Ukrainy jako państwa dla lokalizacji BIZ; część trzecia prezentuje warunki prawne i administracyjne prowadzenia działalności biznesowej w tym kraju, a czwarta zawiera charakterystykę BIZ dokonywanych na Ukrainie przez polskich przedsiębiorców. Materiały do opracowania niniejszego artykułu zebrano w Państwowym Komitecie Statystyki Ukrainy oraz w Wydziale Przemysłu i Handlu Ambasady RP w Kijowie. Wykorzystano także dane zawarte w opracowaniu O.W. Połowina wydanym przez Akademię Nauk Ukrainy.

Opracowanie przedstawia zarys problematyki formułowania polityki i strategii ekologicznego rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Treścią opracowania są dwa zagadnienia: istota i znaczenie tak zwanego „zarządzania ekologicznego” z punktu widzenia wartości rozumianych jako strumień zasobów i „utraconych” możliwości – kosztów; oraz strategie – rodzaje strategii ekologicznego funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstwa i jej znaczenie dla rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa na dzisiaj i na przyszłość.
The paper presents a sketch of a problem of formulating policy and strategy on an enterprise. Two issues are taken into consideration: essence and meaning of ecological management from the point of view of values understood as a stream of resources and lost opportunities (cost), strategy types of strategies of ecological functioning of the enterprise and its meaning for present and future development.

Opis:
Biopolimery są szeroko stosowane w dziedzinie biomateriałów. Są biokompatybilne, biodegradowalne oraz nietoksyczne dla ludzkiego organizmu. Celem niniejszych badań eksperymentalnych było otrzymanie kompozytów na bazie kolagenu, chitozanu oraz kwasu hialuronowego modyfikowanych poprzez dodatek kwasu taninowego. Biopolimery zostały wymieszane poprzez sporządzenie 1% roztworów każdego z nich, przy czym kolagen oraz chitosan były wymieszane w stosunku wagowym 50/50 oraz do tej mieszaniny zastosowano 1, 2 i 5 (w/w%) dodatek kwasu hialuronowego. Do mieszaniny dodano następnie 2, 5, 10 oraz 20 (w/w%) kwasu taninowego oraz otrzymano skafoldy metodą suszenia sublimacyjnego. Próbki zarówno z dodatkiem kwasu taninowego jak i bez niego zostały scharakteryzowane poprzez pomiar ich właściwości mechanicznych, analizę spektroskopii w podczerwieni (IR-ATR) oraz obrazowanie przy użyciu skaningowego mikroskopu elektronowego (SEM). Ponadto wyznaczono porowatość oraz gęstość każdego ze skafoldów. Wszystkie otrzymane próbki były porowate i nie zaobserwowano znaczących różnic w strukturze na zdjęciach SEM. Na widmach IR-ATR charakterystyczne piki polimerów takie jak: amidowe I, II, III oraz A były przesunięte po dodatku taniny w wyniku pojawienia się wiązań wodorowych oraz oddziaływań elektrostatycznych. Wyniki pokazują, że kwas taninowy może być wykorzystany jako czynnik sieciujący stosowany w celu modyfikacji właściwości biomateriałów.
Biopolymers are widely used in biomaterials science. They are biocompatible, biodegradable and non-toxic for human body. The aim of the study was to obtain scaffolds made of chitosan, collagen and hyaluronic acid modified by addition of tannic acid. The biopolymers were mixed as 1% solution, where collagen and chitosan were mixed in 50/50 (w/w%) and 1, 2 and 5 (w/w%) of hyaluronic acid was added. 2, 5, 10 and 20 (w/w%) of tannic acid was added to the mixture and scaffolds were obtained by freeze drying method. Samples with the tannic acid as well as without it were characterized by the mechanical parameters measurement, infrared spectroscopy (IR-ATR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover the porosity and density of the scaffolds were determined. The addition of tannic acid improves the mechanical properties and porosity of the scaffolds. All the scaffolds were porous and no significant changes in the structure were observed at the SEM images. In the IR-ATR spectra characteristic peaks of polymers as amide I, II, III and A were shifted after addition of tannic acid due to the presence of new hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions. The results show that tannic acid can be used as a cross-linking agent to modify the properties of the scaffolds.

In the present paper the results regarding the influence of UV-irradiation with 254 nm wavelength on the molecular weight of chitosan are presented. The concentration of chitosan solution was 0.5%(w/w) in 0.1 M acetic acid. The degree of deacetylation, determined by potentiometric titration in an acidic solution by alkaline, was 81%. Viscosity-average molecular weight of chitosan was determined using an Ubbelohde capillary viscometer. Mark–Houwink equation for the calculation of molecular weight was applied. The results showed that the viscosityaverage molecular weight of chitosan was decreasing with increasing time of exposure to UV-irradiation. Spectroscopic analysis of UV-Vis and FTIR confirmed the photodegradation processes of chitosan. The increasing absorbance in UV-Vis spectra indicated the formation of new chromophoric groups after UV-irradiation of chitosan. Microscopic studies showed changes on the surface of the irradiated films of chitosan and decrease of the surface roughness.

Opis:
Laccases (EC 1.10.3.2) are among the few enzymes, the history of which dates back to the 19th century. These oxidoreductases are present in almost all known fungi, some species of higher plants and insects. Moreover, in recent years, these enzymes have also been found in some bacterial organisms. Due to their significant properties and structure of the catalytic centre, laccases have been classified as the multicopper oxidases (MCOs). These enzymes are able to catalyse the oxidation of phenolic and non-phenolic compounds, with the aid of small molecules referred to as mediators. Thanks to their diverse nature, laccases have gained attention of both scientists and entrepreneurs from all over the world. Their significance is reflected in countless scientific and industrial applications, wherein laccases have become inseparable from chemical syntheses, the food industry, textile industry, biosensor design and the environmental protection. This paper gathers the most important information and the latest scientific discoveries relating to this desirable biocatalyst.

The objective of this research was to assess the total concentrations and pools of trace elements in the surface layers of organic soils in the Stołowe Mountains (Central Sudetes). Trace element concentrations are discussed in relation to the site variability and soil properties. Moreover, an attempt is made to assess the dominant source of trace elements in the peatlands, by comparison of different types of peatlands (fen – peat bogs). Peat coring and sampling were carried out along five research transects in September 2013. In total, 19 sampling plots were established within 5 shallow peatlands. The following soil properties were determined in the sampled peat material: ash content, bulk density, degree of peat decomposition, soil pH, total organic carbon (TOC) and the total content of Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd. The pools of trace elements were calculated for the 0-30 cm topsoil layer. In the study, no statistically significant correlations were found between an altitude and trace element content, which might be the result of small differences in elevation between the study sites. Additionally, this result might have been caused by differences in the organic matter content and soil pH among the study sites, confirmed by statistical analyses. Trace element concentrations and pools in peat soils are the result of both air deposition and groundwater interflow. Fen peatlands obtain a large load of elements mainly from substrates. The highest air-borne pollutant deposition rates (Pb in particular) were recorded in the 10-20 cm layer of the peat bog soils, what is due to the historical deposition of pollutants from the former “Black Triangle” region.

With this paper we investigate the effect of sand contribution to organic soils and direct influence of this process on the physical and physicochemical properties on the example of transitional bog in the Stołowe Mountains (the Central Sudetes), which was periodically covered by sand material from sandstone cliffs weathering. Field survey and soil sampling were conducted in August 2015 in the area of Białe Skały. Soil material for laboratory analysis was collected from three peat cores, while soil samples were collected from each soil horizon distinguished in each core. Obtained results indicate the great impact of mineral material admixture on soil properties, both physicochemical and chemical. Recorded values of each soil parameter in the organic horizons adjacent to the mineral interlayers differ considerably from those obtained in the soil profile free of sand admixtures. Preliminary study of soil cover of transitional bog will allow correct planning of palaeoecological research about genesis and evolution of this peatland.

The magnetic properties of granular superconductor-insulator composites were investigated. The composites were random composition of the YBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$ (YBCO) high-temperature superconductor and Pb(Sc$\text{}_{0.5}$Ta$\text{}_{0.5}$)O$\text{}_{3}$ (PST) ferroelectric insulator. The composites exhibited lower superconducting volume ratio than the YBCO content. For samples with YBCO content low enough no global (the whole sample) and local (separated grains) superconductivity was observed. The observed decay of the superconductivity, lowering of the critical temperature, and the increase in number of paramagnetic centres as PST content increases are explained assuming reaction among YBCO and PST phases and possible formation of an additional ones, which did not exist in the initial powders.

The paper focuses on optimization vector content feature for the music recommendation system. For the purpose of experiments a database is created consisting of excerpts of music files. They are assigned to 22 classes corresponding to different music genres. Various feature vectors based on low-level signal descriptors are tested and then optimized using correlation analysis and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Results of the experiments are shown for the variety of feature vectors. Also, a music recommendation system is presented along with its main user interfaces.

Opis:
The study assessed children’s ability to develop narratives and express ideas. It comprised 120 children (5-10 years), and differences in relation to age, sex, and economic area were measured. To this end, we compared four schools in 2 economic areas (poor and average). We used 2 picture and 2 story re-telling tasks designed to elicit narrations reflecting the generation of ideas in response to visual and auditory stimuli. Significant differences for age and sex but not economic areas were found. Suggestions are made for balancing brain activity and developing more creative approaches in teaching and assessment.

Opis:
W prezentowanej pracy zbadano aktywność enzymatyczną gleb leśnych po upływie 12 lat od przejścia całkowitego pożaru lasu. Proces rewitalizacji gleb zniszczonych przez pożar oceniono poprzez porównanie ich aktywności enzymatycznej z aktywnością enzymatyczną gleby bezpośrednio sąsiadującej z pożarzyskiem. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że po 10 latach rekultywacji proces regeneracji gleb na pożarzysku nie został zakończony. Wpływ pożaru na aktywność enzymatyczną gleb był zróżnicowany w zależności od rodzaju enzymu, co sugeruje, że jednoczesne badania aktywności szeregu enzymów pozwalają zarejestrować zmiany stanu środowiska glebowego zachodzące pod wpływem czynników stresowych. Wyższa aktywność enzymatyczna gleby w odnowieniach sztucznych niż naturalnych wskazuje na to, że pomiary aktywności wybranych enzymów mogą ułatwić wybór zabiegów związanych z renaturyzacją ekosystemów leśnych zniszczonych przez pożar.
Paper presented the study on enzymatic activity of forest soils 12 years after a total forest fire. The revitalization process of soils destroyed by the forest fire was evaluated comparing their enzymatic activity with the enzymatic activity of soils in immediate vicinity of the fire site. The studies showed that after 10 years of re-cultivation, the soil regeneration process on the fire site was not completed. The fire’s influence on soil enzymatic activity was differentiated and related to the type of enzyme what suggested that simultaneous studies of a number of enzymes enabled to register changes in soil environment condition affected by stress factors. Higher enzymatic activity of soil in the artificial renovations than in the natural ones showed that measuring activity of some selected enzymes may decide on appropriate treatments relating to re-naturization of forest ecosystems destroyed by fires.
