Artykuł jest próbą zrecenzowania książki Massimiliano Scandroglio Gioele e Amos in dialogo. Inserzioni redazionali di collegamento e aperture interpretative, opublikowanej nakładem Gregorian&Biblical Press w 2011 r. Książka wpisuje się w dość popularny w dzisiejszej biblistyce nurt egzegezy intertekstualnej, która jest nową odsłoną starej metody porównawczej, badającej związki i zależności pomiędzy poszczególnymi księgami biblijnymi i tym samym proces ich powstawania. Scandroglio skupia swoją uwagę przede wszystkim na rozdziale 4. Księgi Joela i konfrontuje go z rozdziałami 1. i 9. Księgi Amosa. De facto, wnikliwej analizie intertekstualnej zostają poddane następujące perykopy: Jl 4, 1–3/Am 9, 13–15; Jl 4, 4–8/Am 1, 3–2,16; Jl 4, 9–17/Am 1, 2; Jl 4, 18–2/Am 9, 13–15. Ponadto wychodząc od literackich związków między dwoma prorokami, Autor stara się uchwycić podobieństwa i różnice w ich przesłaniu teologicznym, czemu poświęcona jest druga część książki. Na uwagę czytelnika zasługuje przede wszystkim obszerna analiza dwóch teologicznych tematów, a mianowicie motyw „Dnia Pańskiego” i relacja Izraela z obcymi narodami. W Zakończeniu Autor stara się ukazać metodę intertekstualną w jej historycznym rozwoju i wpływ, jaki ma ona obecnie na egzegezę Księgi Joela i Amosa.
La tesi dottorale di Massimiliano Scandroglio Gioele e Amos in dialogo. Inserzioni redazionali di collegamento e aperture interpretative, difesa al Pontificio Istituto Biblico di Roma il 4 giugno 2010, è uno studio articolato in due parti: nella prima parte il capitolo 4 di Gioele viene messo a confronto con alcuni versetti dei capitoli 1 e 9 del libro di Amos. I titoli dei rispettivi capitoli si riferiscono alle seguenti pericopi: Gl 4, 1–3 → Am 9, 13–15; Gl 4, 4–8 → Am 1, 3–2, 16; Gl 4, 9–17 → Am 1, 2; Gl 4, 18–21 → Am 9, 13–15, sebbene de facto ne vengano studiati soltanto alcuni versetti o espressioni. Dopo l’analisi dei versetti scelti, fatta nella prima parte del libro, l’Autore – nella seconda – propone una serie di riflessioni su due temi (il Giorno di JHWH in Gl 1, 15–20; 2, 1–11; 3, 1–5; 4, 1–3.9–17 e in Am 2, 6–16; 6, 1–7; 9, 1–4; 5, 18–20; e il rapporto tra Israele e le nazioni in Gl 4 e in Am 1–2; 3, 1–2; 6, 1–7; 9, 7–10), che costituiscono, a suo dire, “la base tematica”, su cui Gioele entra in dialogo con Amos. Nella Conclusione (pp. 339–367) viene offerta la panoramica generale sul cosiddetto “approccio intertestuale” e sulle conseguenze che esso ha per l’esegesi di Gioele ed Amos. Alla fine si trovano Bibliografia, Indice biblico e Indice degli autori.
This article attempts to review a book by Massimiliano Scandroglio Gioele e Amos in dialogo. Inserzioni redazionali di collegamento e aperture interpretative which was published by Gregorian&Biblical Press w 2011. This book forms a part of the trend of intertextual exegesis which is popular in contemporary Bible studies. It is a new version of the old comparative method which researches the relations and interdependencies between individual books of the Bible and consequently the process of their formation. Scandroglio focuses mostly on the chapters 4 of the book of Joel and 1 and 9 of Amos. He thoroughly analyses the following excerpts: Jl 4, 1–3/Am 9, 13–15; Jl 4, 4–8/Am 1, 3–2, 16; Jl 4, 9–17/Am 1, 2; Jl 4, 18–2/Am 9, 13–15. Starting from literary connections between the two prophets, the author tries to find similarities and differences in their theological message and he devotes the second part of his book to this subject. Two theological subjects are particularly noteworthy: the topic of the Day of the Lord and the relation between Israel and gentile nations. In conclusion the author tries to present the intersexual method, its historic development and the influence which it currently has on the exegesis of the books of Joel and Amos.

The study was conducted to investigate the social factors influencing sport participation among secondary school students in Oyo West Local Government Area, Oyo State. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the research; the population of the study was all 10,385 secondary school students in Oyo West Local Government, Oyo State. Multistage random sampling technique which included purposive, proportionate and random sample techniques were used to select 642 of the students. The instrument for data collection was a researchers-designed questionnaire, validated by experts and the reliability coefficient was r = .76. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics of frequency and percentage for the demographic characteristics and inferential statistics of chi-square was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Results of the study indicated that the following factors: parental influence n = 642, χ2 (9) = 505.321 > 16.92, sport facilities n = 642, χ2 (9) = 455.184 > 16.92, gender n = 642, χ2 (9) = 331.588 > 16.92, and economic status n = 642, χ2 (9) = 447.408 > 16.92 significantly influenced sport participation among secondary school students in Oyo State. It was concluded that sports participation among secondary school students is greatly influence by these social factors. Therefore, it is recommended that parents should encourage their children to participate in sports, and the government should support the school authorities in provision of adequate sport facilities for schools. Equal opportunities should be provided for both male and female students to fully participate in sports.

Objectives: To determine whether call center dispatchers wearing headsets are subject to auditory fatigue at the end of a work shift. Material and Methods: Data was gathered at times when call centers were busiest. All call operators wore a headset for up to 12 h. Acoustic environment and noise exposure under the headset were continuously recorded during the entire work shift. Variations in auditory parameters were assessed using pure-tone air-conduction audiometry and an objective test based on distortion product otoacoustic emissions – contralateral suppression of distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) amplitudes (EchoScan test). Thirty-nine operators and 16 controls, all volunteers, were selected from 3 call centers (sales, assistance, and emergency) where all cognitive tasks were accomplished by phone and on computers. Results: No acoustic shock was detected during the investigation. The highest normalized noise exposure (daily noise exposure level – LEX,8 h) measured was 75.5 dBA. No significant variation in auditory performances was detected with either pure-tone air-conduction audiometry or the EchoScan test. Nevertheless, dispatchers expressed a feeling of tiredness. Conclusions: For an equivalent diffuse field noise exposure, the use of a headset does not seem to worsen auditory fatigue for call center operators. The dispatcher’s fatigue was probably due to the duration of the work shift or to the tasks they performed rather than to the noise exposure under a headset. Given an undirected connected graph G = (V, E), a subset of vertices S is a maximum 2-packing set if the number of edges in the shortest path between any pair of vertices in S is at least 3 and S has the maximum cardinality. In this paper, we present a genetic algorithm for the maximum 2-packing set problem on arbitrary graphs, which is an NP-hard problem. To the best of our knowledge, this work is a pioneering effort to tackle this problem for arbitrary graphs. For comparison, we extended and outperformed a well-known genetic algorithm originally designed for the maximum independent set problem. We also compared our genetic algorithm with a polynomial-time one for the maximum 2-packing set problem on cactus graphs. Empirical results show that our genetic algorithm is capable of finding 2-packing sets with a cardinality relatively close (or equal) to that of the maximum 2-packing sets. Moreover, the cardinality of the 2-packing sets found by our genetic algorithm increases linearly with the number of vertices and with a larger population and a larger number of generations. Furthermore, we provide a theoretical proof demonstrating that our genetic algorithm increases the fitness for each candidate solution when certain conditions are met.

This article provides an overview of the approach taken by the International Court of Justice and its predecessor, the Permanent Court of International Justice, to questions of municipal law. Beginning with an outline of the theoretical framework, it discusses the conventional position that domestic law is a factual issue for the Court, before considering the ways in which the two Courts have utilised municipal law. It also considers to what extent the Court employs domestic law in ascertaining international legal rules.

Multiscale periodic homogenization is extended to an Orlicz-Sobolev setting. It is shown by the reiteraded periodic two-scale convergence method that the sequence of minimizers of a class of highly oscillatory minimizations problems involving convex functionals, converges to the minimizers of a homogenized problem with a suitable convex function.

The article is an attempt to articulate MacIntyre’s characterization of the Thomistic-Aristotelian moral theory, which he defends as being a superior account of moral philosophy. MacIntyre argues that we could not possibly come up with a neutral moral standard to guide our actions, that is, that our practical decisions and actions are largely influenced by our adherence to a particular tradition, and that our moral choices are always a product of our upbringing that has oriented us towards a particular understanding of the good. He then takes upon himself the task of articulating the core of a Thomistic-Aristotelian tradition, particularly its understanding of the human good, with the hope of showing the superiority of its narrative over its rivals. Moreover, this article argues that given MacIntyre’s emphasis on Thomistic-Aristotelian theory, mor-al philosophy could not and should not ignore the contribution of moral formation as an important component of moral philosophy, which should be concerned not only with the search for the legitimate foundations of moral theories, but also with an account of how ordinary people actually make their moral choices.
