Opis:
Currently, the European Commission puts emphasis on supporting collaboration between universities and business. There are many possible ways to create a strong relationship between both these parties. Positive results of such cooperation lead to increased competitiveness of the global market and, in consequence, bring significant growth of innovation. The cooperation between research-to-research (R2R) and research-to-business (R2B) is analysed. The paper shows how the IT technology can be used to support and stimulate it. In our University we proposed a two-step strategy. Firstly, we tried to improve collaboration among scientists in order to develop R2R activities. Secondly, we focused on R2B projects that stimulate promising scientists to take part in various innovative activities carried out in cooperation with the industry representatives. Based on some well-known good practices a special Internet platform was designed and implemented to support such a strategy. Its name is the “Bridge of Knowledge”. The platform architecture, its functionality and some other aspects of the development process are described. The platform was developed and introduced at the Gdańsk University of Technology. It has been available online for nearly 2 years now and it has been attracting increasing numbersof new visitors and returning users. Several use cases of cooperation between R2R and R2Bwere analysed and described with the use of advanced analytic tools and on the basis of the organisation’s resources. The idea of the Bridge of Knowledge platform is to gather and share resources not only from one university. The architecture of the platform focuses on a wide and easy interoperability. Other universities can share their resources without any additional cost.

Gospodarka platform internetowych jest umownym pojęciem używanym do określenia ogółu przedsiębiorstw, osób fizycznych oraz internetowych platform, współpracujących w modelu biznesowym, w którym platformy pełnią rolę pośredników pomiędzy pozostałymi podmiotami będącymi dostawcami i odbiorcami określonych dóbr. W artykule omówiono część tej gospodarki, obejmującą platformy pośredniczące w odpłatnym świadczeniu usług. Wyodrębniono właściwości gospodarki platform internetowych, które wywierają wpływ na bezpieczeństwo i higienę pracy osób świadczących usługi. Stwierdzono, że sposób organizacji pracy w gospodarce platform internetowych wpływa negatywnie na poziom bhp, powodując powstanie nowych zagrożeń bądź powiększając ryzyko związane z istniejącymi. Postuluje się kontynuowanie i pogłębianie badań dotyczących bhp w gospodarce platform internetowych celem zidentyfikowania źródeł zagrożeń i opracowania środków profilaktycznych w postaci rozwiązań prawnych i organizacyjnych.
The platform economy is a conventional term used to describe enterprises, individuals and Internet platforms, cooperating with each other under a business model in which the platforms act as intermediaries between remaining two parties that are suppliers and recipients of specific goods. The article discusses the part of this economy that includes platforms intermediating in the provision of services against payment. The characteristics of the platform economy, which have an impact on the health and safety at work of workers providing services, were identified and the nature of this impact was characterized. It was found that the work organization in the platform economy has a negative impact on the health and safety, causing new hazards or increasing the risk associated with the existing ones. It is postulated to continue and deepen research on OSH in the platform economy in order to identify sources of hazards and develop preventive measures in the form of legal and organizational solutions.

W artykule zaprezentowano przesłanki metodycznej koncepcji ergonomicznego narzędzia diagnostycznego umożliwiającego ocenę użyteczności oraz możliwych funkcjonalności konkretnej platformy internetowej. Ocena ta ma umożliwiać doskonalenie funkcjonowania układu, w którym z jednej strony występują użytkownicy tej platformy, z drugiej natomiast twór techniki w postaci internetowej aplikacji informatycznej. Propozycja metody ma charakter jakościowo-heurystyczny i obejmuje siedem konkretnych kryteriów oceny. Autorzy sugerują wykorzystanie jednego z dwóch wariantów szczegółowego (opartego na zestawie pytań kontrolnych typu check-list) arkusza jego oceny: szacowania punktowego z uśrednianiem lub zastosowania logiki rozmytej w celu określania ocen grupowych i oceny całościowej.
The paper presents the methodological premises of an ergonomic diagnostic tool which assesses the utility as well as functionality of a particular internet platform. This assessment is supposed to enable the improved functioning of the system which involves, on the one hand, the platform users, and on the other hand, some internet application technologies. The proposed method has a qualitative-heuristic character and involves seven assessment criteria. The authors suggest using one of the two detailed alternatives (based on a check-list) of assessment: point estimation of the mean or application of fuzzy logic for determining group and comprehensive evaluations.

W 1997 roku Interdyscyplinarne Centrum Modelowania Matematycznego i Komputerowego Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (ICM) uruchomiło publiczny, internetowy serwis pogodowy, który dostarcza szczegółowych prognoz dla odbiorców indywidualnych i jest podstawą do prowadzenia wielu powiązanych projektów naukowych. Rozpoczęty we wrześniu 2009 trzyletni projekt PROZA korzysta z serwisu pogodowego ICM. Jednym z partnerów ICM w projekcie PROZA jest Instytut Ogrodnictwa w Skierniewicach, który jest współwykonawcą Zadania 3 – „Zastosowanie wyników numerycznych prognoz pogody w leśnictwie i sadownictwie”. W ramach tego zadania opracowano internetową platformę prognoz występowania przymrozków i potrzeb wodnych roślin sadowniczych https://prognozy. projekt-proza.pl/. Użytkownik po zalogowaniu ma możliwość indywidualnego skonfigurowania prognozy. Prognoza Potrzeb Wodnych Roślin Sadowniczych, zawiera informacje o prognozach na najbliższe trzy dni, ewapotranspiracji wskaźnikowej, bilansie klimatycznym oraz potrzebach wodnych głównych gatunków roślin sadowniczych. Prognoza przewiduje także zawartość wody dyspozycyjnej lub bardzo łatwo dostępnej w strefie korzeniowej roślin. Dane takie mogą znacznie ułatwić sterowanie nawadnianiem, a przez to zwiększyć efektywność wykorzystania wody. Wstępna ocena jakości prognozowania wykazuje jego praktyczną przydatność.
In 1997 the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM), University of Warsaw launched the Internet weather service which delivers numerical weather forecasts for individual consumers and has become a basis for several weather-related scientific projects. The project “Operational decision-making based on atmospheric conditions” (PROZA) (started in September 2009) utilizes data obtained from weather service provided by ICM. The Research Institute of Horticulture is one of the partners in the project. The institute participates in task 3 of the project: “Application of numerical weather forecasts in forestry and fruit farming”. In the frame of this task, an Internet platform for forecasting of spring frosts and fruit crop water needs was developed. https://prognozy.projekt-proza.pl/. A user (after logging in) has access to the following information (forecast is prepared for 3 days): ETo, precipitation, climatic water balance and water requirements of major fruit crops. Data on amount of (easily) available water in root zone are also available. The information provided by the service make controlling of irrigation easier and thus improve agricultural water use efficiency. The estimation of forecasting quality showed that the accuracy of forecast was high proving its practical value for fruit growers.

Od kilku lat globalne platformy internetowe są przestrzenią dla nowych form świadczenia pracy. Niektóre z nich swoją ofertę kierują na lokalny rynek pracy, inne działają w sposób globalny. Cechą, która wyróżnia tę formę świadczenia pracy od tych tradycyjnych, jest tzw. zarządzanie algorytmiczne. Polega ono na tym, że specjalnie zaprojektowany algorytm przydziela, optymalizuje i ocenia sposób wykonania zindywidualizowanych zadań poprzez konkretnych wykonawców usług. Zarządzenie algorytmiczne w środowisku pracy jest dziedziną wiedzy, o której, mimo gwałtownego wzrostu technologicznego, nadal niewiele wiemy. Konsekwencją daleko posuniętej integracji człowieka ze sztuczną inteligencją, w ramach zarządzania algorytmicznego, jest szereg problemów natury prawnej i etycznej. Jeden z nich to pytanie o to, czy tego typu format świadczenia usług powinien być objęty regulacjami ochronnymi, wypracowanymi przez dziesiątki lat na gruncie prawa pracy. Zakładając odpowiedź pozytywną, należy zapytać, jakie są cechy zarządzania algorytmicznego rozpatrywanego w świetle całości procesu zatrudnienia na platformie internetowej.
For several years now, global Internet platforms have become a space for new forms of work provision. Some of them direct their offer to the local labour market, others operate globally. The feature that distinguishes this form of providing work from traditional ones is the so-called algorithmic management. It consists in the fact that a specially designed algorithm assigns, optimizes and evaluates the way of performing individual tasks and specific service providers. Algorithmic management in the work environment is a field of knowledge about which, despite the rapid technological growth, we still do not know much. The consequence of far-reaching integration of man with artificial intelligence, within the framework of algorithmic management, is a number of legal and ethical problems. One of them is whether this type of service provision should be covered by protective regulations developed over decades on the basis of labour law. Assuming a positive answer, one should ask what are the characteristics of algorithmic management considered in the light of the entire process of employment on an Internet platform?

Cloud computing is a major pattern for large data storage and analytics. The combination of cloud computing and IoT can enable the resource sharing more efficiently than individually handling them. In distributed systems, the resources are termed as cloud services and handled in a centralized way. However, new challenges arise when integrating cloud for IoT. This paper presents the architecture for integrating of cloud computing for Internet of Things and its issues. Cloud computing has long been recognized as a paradigm for big data storage and analytics. The combination of cloud computing and IoT can enable ubiquitous sensing services and powerful processing of sensing data streams beyond the capability of individual “things”, thus stimulating innovations in both fields. With the trend going on in ubiquitous computing, everything is going to be connected to the Internet and its data will be used for various progressive purposes, creating not only information from it, but also, knowledge and even wisdom. Internet of Things (IoT) becoming so pervasive that it is becoming important to integrate it with cloud computing because of the amount of data IoT's could generate and their requirement to have the privilege of virtual resources utilization and storage capacity, but also, to make it possible to create more usefulness from the data generated by IoT's and develop smart applications for the users. For example, cloud platforms allow the sensing data to be stored and used intelligently for smart monitoring and actuation with the smart devices. Novel data fusion algorithms, machine learning methods, and artificial intelligence techniques can be implemented and run centralized or distributed on the cloud to achieve automated decision making. These will boost the development of new applications such as smart cities, grids, and transportation systems.

Mimo przeciwności, chcąc zbliżyć się do zakładanych efektów nauczania, podjęto decyzję o próbie zastąpienia tradycyjnego nauczania, nauczaniem zdalnym, z wykorzystaniem nowoczesnych technik kształcenia na odległość.
In this paper we consider challenges regarding teaching of building chemistry and building materials for Civil Engineering udergraduates. 2020’s pandemic forced an immediate change of the way how the teaching is delivered. Against all obstacles, with unshakable desire to teach new generations, a decision was made to try replacing traditional teaching with a distant one, using the most modern distant teaching techniques.

With the development of tourism in the inland waters, various types of accidents in the waters have posed a great threat to human life, property, and the environment. This has caused concern in all circles of society. According to water tourism safety issues, and relying on Internet technology, shipping safety, and public safety management theory, this paper has proposed the concept and design plan of an Internet + maritime emergency management platform. This platform includes functions such as the intelligent perception of a ship’s navigation status, the scientific selection of a maritime emergency rescue site, the emergency rescue scene, the online dynamic management of maritime emergency resources, and the online production of a maritime emergency rescue plan. The design scheme has been used in the platform’s development. This paper has taken the application of the Internet + maritime emergency management platform for the Liujiaxia reservoir in the Gansu Province of China as an example. The results showed that the design of the platform that has been proposed in this paper is reasonable and that it can provide scientific, fast and accurate decision information for emergency command in the Liujiaxia reservoir and improve the effective control of the accident site as well as the use of resources.

The paper presents an Internet banking against a background of different kinds of electronic banking. It shows the potential possibilities of using the Internet network in banking depending on the advanced technology level and long-term strategy of the bank. The paper enlists the profits arising from Internet banking both for the clients and the banks. This is the background on which the review of the Polish solutions is presented. The author describes Internet services provided by four Polish bank-leaders in this domain. The range and the usefulness of the bank services available through the Internet are compared in this paper.

Continuing medical education is considered as a very important aspect in the development of skills of practicing physicians and the introduction of new concepts and developments in health care provision. Studies have shown that conventional CME techniques including self-studying and lecture attending have limited impact on clinical practices. The world wide web provides a very efficient and cost-effective delivery system for conveying anywhere and anytime multimedia information to large user groups. Although there are a number of CME web sites available today, the majority of them are static and text-based thus not offering interactive functionality and multiple content. To exploit modern telematics technologies and within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme, the REMEDIES project developed an interactive web-based distance-training infrastructure. The REMEDIES system incorporates two training modules - a web-based training platform and a teleconference training platform. The system has been validated in terms of technical performance and user functionality in a controlled target group comprising of young medical doctors and medical students in the specific areas of radiology and laparoscopic surgery. The results of the trial have demonstrated the compliance of the system to the defined functional requirements and the potential usefulness to the defined training goals. Trial results have also demonstrated the need of extension of the educational material within the platform especially for the purposes of continuous education.

The paper describes certain basic principles of the new system of supporting renewable energy sources (RES) introduced in Poland. The amended Polish Act on Renewable Energy Sources (Polish RES Act) has introduced an auction system which is a new legal instrument enabling the selection of RES generators with adequate fi nancial support. Each Renewable Energy Sources project (RES plant project) to generate and sell electricity must go offi cially through an auction. The Internet Auction Platform is an IT tool used in the process. It en ables to conduct the pre-qualifi cation procedure as well as to prepare the auction off er. This new solution has entailed certain legal issues that must be addressed such as the access to the IT system, electronic submission of tenders or the use of an electronic signature to confi rm the statements made in the electronic procedure. All these issues have been discussed in this paper. The paper also contains an analysis of the diff erences between two possible forms of electronic signature that may be used in the process, and identifi es the main advantages and disadvantages of either. It is then concluded that although the online RES auction could be more competitive, in the version as it is it allows to carry out an eff ective auction.

We współczesnej gospodarce sieciowej firmy coraz częściej doceniają siłę Internetu jako platformy do współtworzenia wartości wspólnie z konsumentem. Celem artykułu jest krytyczny przegląd interpretacji zjawiska wpływu różnorodnych mechanizmów internetowych na proces tworzenia innowacji produktowych opartych na współpracy z konsumentem. Zwrócono uwagę na wyróżniające się cechy Internetu jako platformy zaangażowania konsumentów, w tym interaktywność, duży zasięg, szybkość i elastyczność, oraz zaprezentowano możliwości ich wykorzystania w pobudzaniu aktywności konsumentów do współtworzenia innowacyjnych rozwiązań. Internet pozwala firmom tworzyć ciągły dialog ze swoimi użytkownikami oraz skanować wiedzę o potencjalnych klientach konkurencji. Dzięki wykorzystaniu narzędzi środowiska wirtualnego firmy mogą uzyskać dostęp do wiedzy indywidualnych użytkowników lub całych społeczności internetowych. W artykule omówiono, w jaki sposób te mechanizmy mogą ułatwiać współtworzenie innowacji na różnych etapach rozwoju nowych produktów, oraz podjęto próbę oceny poziomu zaangażowania konsumentów na każdym z nich.
In today’s network economy, companies increasingly appreciate the power of the Internet as a platform for co-creating value together with the consumer. The aim of this article is to critically review the interpretation of the impact of various Internet mechanisms on the process of creating product innovations based on cooperation with the consumer. Attention was paid to the distinctive features of the Internet as a platform for consumer engagement, including interactivity, a large reach, speed and flexibility, and the possibilities of using them in stimulating consumer activity to co-create innovative solutions. The Internet allows companies to create a continuous dialogue with their users and to scan knowledge about potential clients of competitors. By using virtual environment tools, companies can gain access to the knowledge of individual users or entire online communities. The article discusses how these mechanisms can facilitate co-creation of innovations at various stages of development of new products and an attempt was made to assess the level of consumer engagement at each of them.
В современной сетевой экономике фирмы все чаще надлежащим образом оценивают мощь интернета в качестве платформы для совместного созида-ния ценностей вместе с потребителем. Цель статьи – дать критический обзор толкования явления влияния разных интернет-механизмов на процесс созда-ния продуктовых инноваций, основанных на сотрудничестве с потребителем. Обратили внимание на выделяющиеся черты интернета в качестве платфор- мы вовлечения потребителей, в том числе интерактивность, большой даиапазон, скорость и гибкость, а также представили возможности их использования в стимулировании активности потребителей к совместному формированию инновационных решений. Интернет позволяет фирмам формировать постоянный диалог со своими пользователями и сканировать знания насчет потенци- альных клиентов конкурентов. Благодаря использованию инструментов виртуальной среды фирмы могут получить доступ к знаниям индивидуальных пользователей или целых интернет-сообществ. В статье представили, каким образом эти механизмы могут облегчить совместное создание инноваций на разных этапах развития новых продуктов, а также предприняли попытку оценить уровень вовлеченности потребителей на каждом из них.

In the paper quality management consulting in small and medium enterprises was presented. The application of Internet-based information and communication platform, which main points were presented in the article, was a significant part in the consulting process. The factors that play an important role in the process of consulting were characterized.
